Best meat shop in town. Brunos out in pickering gets a lot of hype but I think Off The Clever deserves it more. It's well situated for Whitby, it can get most anything with a few days lead time, its premade stuff is divine and moderately well priced (pricier than the chain stores but worth it). I buy a lot of chicken and sausages here when I can and have never been disappointed. Will try their cheeses when the opportunity arises but I am sure I will be pleased.

I've been shopping here for a few years now, saddened the amazing goat cheese they sourced is no longer available , but the owners and staff are knowledgeable as well as have great customer service ..... The sausages made in house are very delicious , actually I've tried everything in the store except the duck and it has all been really good. The cheeses are based on personal preference but the apple tree smoked cheddar is a fav. In my home . Highly recommend off the cleaver to anyone

Possibly the best butcher in Durham region! Fantastic selection of Angus, Prime, Grass fed and Wagu beef along with other unique game meats. Dry aged on the premises. The staff are outstanding, helpful, very knowledgeable and genuinely happy to serve. You can also get a great variety of cheeses and fresh prepared meals. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

Argentina meat have a very special flavour for those who ever tried our Bbqs nothing is comparable but here Yes! in Canada after 19 years I found the most close flavours reminiscent my time in my Country. Excellent taste on the grill but the best is with Apple wood you will eat it hot from the grill with your home chimichurri my speciality recipe from my mom. Red chimichurri????spicy but not! Their lamb OMGSH! melt in your mouth, the chicken is fantastic with or without sauce, salsa. The service is exclusively exceptional they want to made sure you leave the place HAPPY! Take a drive you will not regrets and Please if you try comment below about the taste,the service and more... The best butcher shop I've ever been to. Super Clean, Friendly staff. They take the time to educate the customer . Staff asked if I wanted my steaks vacuum sealed because they were going in the freezer. These guys care about the products leaving their store. Can't wait for burgers tonight & steaks tomorrow!!!!

I'm always left waiting even though there always tends to be many people working the counter. When I ask for recommendations I get comments like "well this is quite expensive" like I didn't ask about price, I asked about taste, insinuating I can't afford their products. I've been here a handful of times and will not be returning. As a POC I have to wonder about their racial bias.

Visited for the first time 10 days ago. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and the food was amazing. Bought 5 steaks that was perfect, and some frozen crab agnolotti that tasted amazing with a rosé sauce. Well be going back again often!

The best Bucher in town. The chicken is amazing and huge, you can tell the freshness on the first bite. Sausages are great too but my favorite is the chicken wings. Big, juice, white meat and you can obviously tell they are free range. Can't even eat wings anywhere else now! Definitely at 5/5

This place was recommended to me by a friend. I stopped in for some prime steaks for my husband and I. The owner was more than helpful. He explained the quality to me and also recommended his favorite way to cook the steaks. Considering they are high quality and you are spending more for this I used his recommended method. MY steak was like butter, melt in your mouth. The flavour was AMAZING. You cant go wrong at this butcher.

Over the past 2 years my family and I have really gotten to know Craig and Todd and I can tell you that they really care about their customers. They take time to talk to my kids. They go out of their way to help me get what I need and if they don't have a certain product they try to get it. The prepared foods are fresh, delicious and I know that they are using quality ingredients. Our go to favorites are the shepherd's pie, curry chicken stew and Mad Mexican salsa and guacamole with Appletree smoked cheese. They have a great meat selection with my favorites being their philly sliced steak, various sausages and the beef teriyaki. Sandy and the rest of the staff are friendly and helpful as well.

Craig and Todd have gone to great lengths to bring Whitby the finest of grass-fed, dry-aged beef money can buy. They dry age there own beef and are very knowledgeable about their products. You can catch Chef in the back creating fantastic dishes for you such as Lobster Ravioli, Chicken and Beef Curry, Bison Chile, Meat Pies, Meatballs...the list goes on. Their chicken is always fresh free-run birds from the Mennonites I believe... try the chicken wings on the weekend. Many meat products such as Boar Sausage, Prime Rib Burgers, different types of bacon and the fantastic Cleave Cut Steak and much more. Did I mention cheese?? Go in and try a sample. This butcher is one of the best if not the best I've ever been to and as a "meatet arian", I've been to a lot! One of the owners, Craig, spent 20 min with my wife and I, explaining everything they sell, when it's in and what makes it high quality. This is certainly a first, from the many I've been to. We purchased several items, most notably, an expensive, but well worth it, Prime grade, 6lb 2 bone prime rib. Wish I took a pic after it was grilled, but was too excited to eat it. It was one of the best things I've ever eaten. My 19yr old son, who is a bit of a foodie stated "This is the best piece of meat I have ever had!". What more can I say!! Half the meat, half my expert grilling ;-) We also picked up 2 large pork chops. They again were fantastic! My wife said "Either you've gotten better at grilling, or this meat is excellent!". It doesn't matter how good you can grill. If you don't have quality meat, you won't get comments like these! Thanks Craig and Off the Cleaver! We'll certainly be back.

Found this place by accident when in the plaza visiting another store. Best happy accident EVER. I've been back for their teriyaki beef, teriyaki chicken, chicken breast. Craig ordered in the hanger steak we had been searching for and it was beyond delicious. They also have a nice selection of gourmet rubs, seasonings etc. We haven't bought meat anywhere else since! I am a very demanding cook/chef.. and "the cleaver" is the perfect local place for the recipe for a good dinner: 1) quality products 2) good solid food advice 3) amazing customer service. I ordered a turkey and asked for it to arrive a few days before American Thanksgiving.. the reason I explained was to brine the bird. Todd offered to keep it an extra day so they could brine it for me. This is 10+ service.

Great butcher close to home. Staff here are quite knowledgeable and care a great deal. They offer meats from various countries depending on what you are looking for. We have been coming here for a while now can't remember exactly how long, maybe 2 years? We used a butcher in Toronto we had a hard time giving up, but this place made it much easier. They also have a great cheese selection and overall the prices are fair. We will keep coming back and appreciate the service.
