Pete's Meat Shop & Deli. You want quality they have it. Great sandwiches made in house and some great Pepperoni's sticks as well. They have a great soda selection and the shop employees are all nice and very helpful. Pic of the Braised Short Rib sandwich, damn tasty! If ya have not visited make sure to check em out, you won't be disappointed!

When the closest butcher shop to where I live [Granville/13th] moved away, I wanted to find a place to replace it. I found Pete's. This place has good quality meat, and a wide variety like yak, muskox, kangaroo and I think I may have seen alligator in there once. The bacon is addictive, and the chicken flavourful. I love the bacon jalapeno burgers in the summer. I have even purchased whole organically raised turkeys and wow, do they taste great! This place also has some wonderful condiments like drinking vinegar and fancy sauces, in addition to a little deli! :) Great staff, great food.

Awesome little shop with many interesting looking products. We were excited to pick up a few of their Bratwurst, but disappointed when we cooked them up to find them full of onions. That's a personal preference, of course, but it wasn't expected.

My favourite local butcher. Great selection of high-quality meats and specialty condiments. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. Amazing sausages, rillettes, terrines, cured delights like the duck pastrami, and a simple selection of local produce. There's also a deli counter with exceptionally good sandwiches that are very reasonably priced at around eight dollars each. If you're lucky, you might even chance upon a jar of the house-made smoke bone marrow brown butter.

We're french and we didn't know the exact names of pieces we wanted (hampe, onglet, bavette d'Aloyau) but the staff were very helpful and patient with us. Even if it's a detour, I always come here to buy my meat. They always have a great selection of fresh meat, sausages, bacon, and various deli meats. Their sandwiches made fresh, which comes with a nicely cut pickle, never disappoints. I also recommend the Spanish olives they sometimes have, as they are addictive. Highly recommend!

Great quality meat. However, sandwiches are very decent for this price. Had beef stew there a couple of days ago, and it was not good - corned beef, water and 2 sweet peas was all I found in the plate. Oh, and a hair. Was very disappointed.

Recently, I took them some deer meat from an animal I hunted this fall. They made some really good sausages from it for me. Would recommend!

Mehhh... just meh. I'm just eating the sandwiches. I've eaten here a few times, twice I got the pulled pork and once I got the cuban. Nothing special as far as the pulled pork goes, comes out of a bag. Pretty sure they boil the bag too. How hard is it to make a real pulled pork these days? Don't have it on your menu if you aren't making it fresh daily. The cuban was ok, I've had better and I've had much better though. I will say they have a good selection of meat at pretty decent prices, I picked up a few steaks and some sausage and also a few chorizo. Just stay away from the sandwiches.

Bought chicken wings on friday oct 20 had them that night for dinner, the wings were more like turkey wings because the size and the meat on them compare to the normal chicken wings you get. I would like to try more but where i live and the store is ,it is abit of a drive. One last thing pete and his staff are very friendly and helpful

I had such a bad experience today at this butcher. I used to like shopping at this place however the quality in their customer service I had experienced was awful. First of all none of those guys were wearing masks! After reading older reviews they weren’t wearing masks during BC mask mandate either. Anyways, I had approached the counter and wanted a lean piece of pork meat grinded because what they had already grinded was looking like a big pile of fat with hardly any meat!! First guy came to say he needs to ask the store manager if they can grind or not. Weird. Store manager Judan approached me and reluctantly said that even if he’s going to grind new for me is going to be the same as the one in the window and he went away. All I wanted was a lean cut for them to grind. That is the definition of being a “butcher store” : giving the customer a cut they want and how they wanted… Ground beef wasn’t available either and they said it’s not grinded in thei store either. Then I asked for some bone knuckles of either pork or beef and was told to check front freezer. One guy came outside to point me to some marrow bones, definitely not knuckles. I had my medium size poodle with me and he literally made one bark sound , he does that when he meets new people…which annoyed Judan butcher person who asked me to tie him outside because he doesn’t like barking dogs… my dog was not misbehaving as per the store owner response below !! Sir, you haven’t addressed any of my concerns why I wasn’t helped by any of your guys there. And there were quite a bunch. Instead , you attacked me in your response of me going into your store with my dog. I don’t remember seeing a sign on the store door NO pets allowed. If I miss that my apologies. Regardless, your staff could seriously improve on their customer service manners and friendliness and be more helpful with a curb side offer at least, if your butcher guy hates dogs. It happened I was walking together with my dog that day on my very rare day off , after working long overtime hours in health care hospital settings. People like me working with Covid-19 sick patients do know that masks are important to minimize exposure. All I wanted from your butcher was to grind for me a lean cut of meat , and apparently that was an impossible task for them. Perhaps your store name should be changed to a deli store. Definitely NOT a butcher store. There are much nice butchers with much nicer products and who care about their customers and treat them respectfully in this city! Support those ones that care for you. Very disappointed

I don't know who the buyer is (Pete?), but these guys have some of the best meat in town. It doesn't have that "livery" taste you often get at supermarkets. It is tender and tasty. And the butcher blokes are always cheerful and helpful. Be prepared for slight bump upward in price, but check it out; it's worth it!

Quality over quantity is my philosophy on meat. The best beef tenderloins I’ve ever had. $15/half pound steak but so worth it considering that would be a $55 steak at a nice steakhouse. Don’t hesitate this place delivers amazing quality meats. The Nashville hot chicken sausages were unreal as well.

From making me peameal bacon to ordering me a turkey for Christmas and then putting it in a brine which made for delicious gravy from all the drippings, they will always retain my business. This butcher shop has a cool vibe, and they have so many selections of meat. I'm surprised that they have fresh lamb lol. The worker(maybe the owner) is very kind and generous. I bought some ground lamb, also asked for some lamb fat for my kebab, then the other worker patiently trimmed 2 big good pieces for me for free. Will definitely come back!

Great selection for cuts of beef and usually for sausages. Their heritage bacon (when it's in) is unreal. Cook it in the oven. Put it in when you turn it on and set the oven temp to 350f/175C. 10min after putting it in flip and cook for 10 min more.

I had a very bad experience with this butcher. I called in to inquire about a specialty meat product (smoked ham hock) and was told it was available at $3.60/lb after a discount they were running (10% off). So I biked 30 minutes to the butcher on a particularly rainy Saturday to find out the actual price of the hock was $6.99/lb (for those unfamiliar with the product this is grossly overpriced, regardless of origin/ supplier). This meant a single hock was over $20, a steep price for a student. The butcher admitted to misquoting the price when I called in but refused to honor the price I had originally been quoted. He said he wasn't able to sell the hock at a loss, though at $3.60/lb would surly have still turned them a profit. After this I biked to windsor meats on main and got a hock for 3.40/lb (from a fraser valley farm; looked much nicer as well). After that I want to Polonia Sausage House to stock up on some other items. After spending ~ $35 the lovely lady behind the counter offered a free sausage to me on the way out the door. There are much nicer butchers, with nicer products, who care about their customers in this city; support the ones that care for you.

Things here are kinda expensive but in terms of quality cuts you can’t really go wrong. If you’re after a specific cut they’ll have it out the back. If they’re out. The guys know there meat and can give you a solid idea of what else you can chose to fit. This is a quality butcher, you pay more but the results are exquisite. And for any Australians in Vancouver, they almost always have bundy ginger beer.

Just went in for the first time today and had such great service! I was looking for bones to make a stock but didn't know much about what I was doing. The man working gave me advice on how to make the stock and even gave me some herbs and fat to use! I would highly recommend this place and will definitely go back!

Priced according to the neighbourhood. Good meat, selection is ok for the space they have. The jalepeno bacon burgers were good, and the pepperoni is on point. The sandwiches could have more meat in them. Bread is good, but not when the sheer amount of it masks the flavour of the tiny amount of delicious meat they put on it. Props for being open late
