Alves! What can I said but I enjoy the service, super friendly and helpful staff. The food is amazing, freshly made daily and ready by 11 am. Go for lunch around 11 to 12:30 for a cheap lunch quality food. Fish, fried pork, rotisserie chicken, rice, potatoes, I can go on and on. I love their chicken wings they are delicious. My dad loves their sardines, my daughter their shrimp. They also have a sorting of breads and pastries that you can't find in many places. Alves is a true Hamilton landmark. I go as many times as possible, specially for lunch and always come out with a smile that I know my dietician would not approve LoL

I love supporting small local businesses. I used them for my stag & doe & they supplied us with delicious food! Their Portuguese sausages are also bomb & they have a supermarket that supplies you with a good selection of Portuguese products. They've been around for about 20 years for a good reason :)

Maybe being from Toronto I was expecting more - although convenient location and parking available (rare in most cities) the place wasn't anywhere I'd want to visit again. I watched as a customer handled just about every bun in the bin, the cashier could easily see it but didn't say a word. There was a small line-up for the hot table (main reason I had decided to visit this shop for the first time) getting closer to the front of the line I realized that as items are running low, they are throwing new product on top of old - no FIFO - employees behind the counter may have been tired as there appears no sense of urgency or passion for being there, serving customers FOOD - maybe food they specifically had chosen to go there for... was first time, was last time!

I love this place and I visit twice a week at least. Visit early for their daily lunchtime specials or pretty well anytime for great pork bifana, stickleback deep fried, chicken and much more. The staff are friendly, efficient and caring and you are always made to feel welcome. When visiting take a browse around as there are lots of neat items all well priced. This is a treasure in Hamilton, support them.

I think they have the best store bought Chourico in Southern Ontario, but in my experiences of dealing with them, they are very bad at not following up with you. The only one that you can rely on to call you back is the wife that owns/runs the shop with the husband; otherwise, be prepared to be the one following up with them to get anywhere. Hopefully posting this will encourage them to do better.

Wow! The food! Gosto de ti Alves! Can we marry? Such delicious food, always fresh every day. I wish I could come in and eat Alves for breakfast lunch and dinner. The staff is amazing too. So polite and kind and very helpful. Very well manners, saying "Please sir" and "Thank you sir." But they also make you feel just like home. Very good with customer satisfaction.
