All I can say is it’s good I live in another city. Market fresh has the most delicious and interesting food although it is not exactly budget friendly. If you have dietary restrictions or are looking for something extra delicious, definitely give them a visit!

I love Market Fresh! Their baked goods, fresh bread and ready made meals are fantastic, as are the pizza slices, sandwiches and other items in their cafe area. Many local and gluten/allergy/organic friendly options. Fresh produce is good quality and decent selection. Also has a deli and fresh cheese. On the expensive side but that's what you'd expect from an independant/gourmet shop of this type and size.

They have Beyond Meat burgers at a great price, which was a major plus. Unfortunately it looks like the rest of the offerings are pretty much the same as at the grocery store but much more expensive. I think it would be worth taking a look at them and comparing what you can get with what you get at your own grocery store.

Shopping here is so wonderful. What I like is their selection of gourmet items, their prepared foods and their elegant homeware items. At Christmas time, I buy one-of-a-kind ornaments that WOW the people I give them too. I can't believe I can say that about a grocery store. Service is great too and you never wait long to cash out. Great shop with lots of local selection, if not a bit expensive. Problem is it's impossible to keep physical distance in the small store and especially at checkout. There are no arrows directing flow of traffic and while most customers are trying their best to navigate, the space is just too cramped to be safe during covid. For this reason I would recommend curbside pickup only, or trying first thing when they open to avoid other people. I felt very uncomfortable and crowded on my latest shop midday when the store was at capacity.

So many good things to say about Market Fresh, but top of the list are the Vegan options at the Bakery! If you have not tried the shortbread, you are missing out. This store is filled with fresh produce and unique items like purple carrots and when in season, fiddleheads. I have never had a bad experience there, the staff is wonderful, helpful, cheerful and informative. The prices are higher than say Longo's or Zehr's but the items are specialized and worth it. Every day, they have fresh baked goods at the side, which include Portuguese tarts, pecan scones, spanakopita swirls & kaisers, rolls and bread. Oh yeah, also the bakery has Gluten Free items too!.

This market has the most asinine layout iv ever seen. The aisles are so narrow only 1 person can use an aisle at a time... When its time to pay you are funneled through the worst checkout in Canada. Friendly staff...great selection of product gets 2 stars. Terrible shopping experience rubbing shoulders with everybody in the store The prices are very high. Possibly the worst Market to be in during a pandemic.

Very cute and cozy market. He processes are higher than a metro-type grocery store, but the quality and selection is great. They carry more specialty food items as well, and the bakery has beautiful and tasty fresh desserts. Overall a nice place to treat yourself to but not affordable for to do a big shop.

Since moving to the area two years ago, my wife and I fell in love with everything about Market Fresh including the European style and feel. The staff are very friendly and always willing to help you find particular items. The quality of product is consistently top notch across the board. From the fresh variety of fruits, to an excellent selection of breads (olive loaf), meats and cheese (smoked cheddar!), the prepared food station (al cappone sandwich!), baked goods (custard tarts and chocolate cruller!)..and the “all butter” chocolate chip cookies!!, and espresso corner to top off the experience. Fortunate to have this gem in Guelph.

For years I go to Market Fresh weekly my typical spend is about $60+ per visit or around $240 a month. I will never enter this store again. Your store policy to require your grown up customers to take a cart to insure social distancing is insulting. As I said I am a grown responsible man I do not need a cart to social distance. I will not be treated like I am a child and I hope anyone that reads this feels the same and boycotts any stores that treats customers this way.

I was extremely dissapointed to find out that most the "fresh" to go food is not actually fresh at all, frozen. I have also bought multiple salads and sandwhiches there recently and they all had yucky brown lettuce. Further more i have heard they do not treat their emplyoees well, far from that which is probably why they always have a now hiring sign out front for virtually every postion. This place can't keep employees and they care much more about money and the look of their product rather than quality or ethics.

I love this place. Shopping there is so enjoyable because they have lovely displays of beautiful, delicious and unique foods. Their downtown location is convenient to access, especially for transit users. I will admit that some of the prices are a bit high (though their bulk walnuts are cheaper than I can find them anywhere else), the aisles are quite narrow, and my biggest criticism is that their ready-to-go food section is unpredictable. Just when you find something you love and plan to keep going back to get, it seems to vanish from the menu. Their ready-to-go stuff is better than I have found anywhere else, and sometimes in a pinch these are a good solution for company, but I wish there was more clarity around what meals they will have available during which seasons!

My favourite grocery store in Guelph. Great selection in the deli in both cheeses as well as meats. Good variety of meat and fish and the baked goods are to die for. Especially the shortbread jam filled pistachio cookies and the Portuguese tarts. The bread is also really good. Staff is super friendly and helpful and in spite of it being a little more pricey for certain food stuffs than the big box grocery stores, I enjoy shopping here.

I was so appreciative of their kindness over email and phone and my friend was so impressed by the beautiful and tasty cake. Really fairly priced for delivery as well at only $10.

A wonderful local grocery store. I like to get freshly baked bread here (and their desserts!). Along with local produce, you can also find big store staples like Lay's chips or Cliff bars. All your grocery needs can be found here. The butcher's counter always looks particularly fresh. The store is really beautiful, and there's a selection of decor for sale at the front as well! I've never had a single bad experience with the staff here. They're so friendly, patient and helpful. My only disappointment is arriving after their strawberry nutella croissants have sold out.

Use a supermarket for ordinary goods but for specialty items? This is the place and the aisles are just fun to explore. Love Market Fresh! We drive about 30 minutes (1-way) to pickup grocery items every week. While the store is small, the selection of grocery is well thought out and works for our needs. Highly recommend their house made quiche - it is UNREAL! COVID-19 note: the store can fill quickly, but staff are strategically placed at the entry to maintain capacities. They are extremely friendly upon entry and exit. I find often it's the patrons visiting that are not following protocols, and maintaining a social distance. Regardless, it doesn't stop us from visiting - we are just strategic on what time we go.

Thankful someone had the courage to plant a specialty food store downtown Guelph. I grow tired of large stores which require a full day excursion. Market Fresh is clean. It has friendly and helpful staff. The baking is good, the meat is fresh, the vegetables are seasonal and in good shape. There is a lot of variety in this store. They even have prepared foods and great coffee and tea.

Small, claustrophobic and overpriced. It is certainly not worth $15 for a quiche if I have to stumble through 4 customers and 2 employees to even get at it. Every counter I wanted to look at today had a mountain of boxes sitting on the floor in front of it, plus at least one employee who clearly doesn’t care if they’re in the way of paying customers. Note: boxes of product sitting directly on the floor is a health violation.

Ordered a cake for my birthday which is today and went to go pick it up. The line was about 8-10 people long and I was in a rush to get home to see my mom before she went to work. So I asked the girl at the front to see if someone could bring my cake outside to me since I’d already paid. After waiting 10 minutes someone came outside saying they couldn’t bring it out and told me to call inside. After 20 minutes of playing phone tag I was told that because I didn’t check off “curb side pick up” on my form they couldn’t bring my cake outside. No one ever mentioned having that option and I also did not intend for there to be a line up on a Monday. So I ended up waiting in the line which had finally dwindled and finally got my cake. So if anyone wants to order a cake from Market Fresh just make sure you ask for curb side pick up. Or better yet don’t order one at all. Ruined my entire birthday and I didn’t make it home in time so I ended up eating alone.

Market Fresh is my favourite grocery store/food place in Guelph! It's simply amazing, the staff are very courteous and helpful. They answer any question I have for them. The food itself is simply delicious, zehrs food just can't compete. The cakes and bread are so fresh I always stop by and pick up a loaf whenever I'm there. There's also a convenient in-store and patio eating area. So when I go get a caesar wrap or whole-wheat pizza, I have better options to eat than my car. I absolutely love the food here and I would recommend it to anyone Guelph :)

I love walking over to Market Fresh with my market basket, filling it with a few items i need for a weekend dinner or a few missing ingredients from a recipe, and recently, going there on a Saturday morning and getting a few cinnamon danish with cream cheese icing. The third Saturday morning we did this, the Danish were not freshly baked, they had been frozen or cooled and the icing was scant (thick icing, as any cinnamon danish lover knows is essential).This was super disappointing as we were making this our Saturday morning routine.

Service here has been in decline over the last couple years. The premade food leaves a lot to be desired (they used to have a great bearded chef with an obvious passion for food that used to serve up the most amazing dishes. He left long ago and it's obvious). Just today, I go in for the breakfast deal (scrambled eggs and 2 sides). I ask for 2 sides of bacon and they serve me 4 pieces of bacon. Are you serious with that? Yesterday, I was given 10. The week prior, was 5. The food during the week for dinner is usually bland and uninspired. Honestly, the only thing worthwhile in the whole place is the sushi, and after I'm done this review, I'll be looking to see if Ah-So sells sushi elsewhere just so I'll never have to return to that disaster of a store.

Good selection of products although some are pricey. The apple bread is so good but can only be bought on certain days. Bakery items are delicious and their pizza is good too. Was not overly happy with being told I could only shop alone in the store. I have to bring someone due to an injury to help me lift things, it was slightly embarrassing to have to explain that from 6 feet away so all could hear just so I could be allowed in with my helper. This is something to think about in the future to maybe say we recommend it but to enforce it as "law" seems wrong. Don't forget a lot of disabilities are invisible and you never know what the person is dealing with. It was my first time there and I wasn't aware of the rules.

Easter fish supper not adequately cooked! Our family signed up in advance for Easter Friday fish dinner. We had to reserve a time for our meal. When we received it, the fish was uncooked on the inside. I dont mean maybe it was a little under done. It was cold in the middle, translucent, chewy, and unpleasant in taste. In other words, raw. This was a family meal served to everyone, including children. To make matters worse, when we called to inform them of the situation, we were told someone would call us back but no one contacted us. I don't normally write negative reviews but sending out raw food is dangerous, and the lack of followup for a situation like this is extremely poor practice.

Market Fresh always has tasty baked good. Their bread is so fresh. The pre-made meals are yummy. I particularly like the meat pies, lasagna, and beef stew. They have very friendly cashiers. It’s so nice to live a couple minutes walk from Market Fresh. When I feel a craving for something there, it can also be bad to live so close! The prices are expensive but you get what you pay for.

As someone that worked there as a baker(currently at Gordon Food service) it’s shocking how the staff informs consumers everything is baked in house. All breads and bagels except baguettes are made in house, cookies are all made in house. EVERYTHING else from cakes to pastries comes in frozen! And have for many many years! When you pay for an $80 cake know it’s a slab they pull out of the freezer and decorate! The most dishonest business in the city of Guelph. I would also like to mention when I was working as a baker on the daily I would get in trouble for how many time I washed my hands!

Quite disappointed. I will never be back. I found that my Marketfresh Organic Onions from Ontario I bought for twice the price of the chain grocery store today was all rotten after I opened the mesh bag it was contained in and cut into it on my cutting block. Well, I learned my lesson. I will now eat non-organic from chain grocery store - at least it will not be decomposing, with foul brown juice leaking out on to my counter top into my other dinner ingredients. I can verify this review with receipt/photos.

not impressed with my lunch at all. Didn’t like the fact they took my protein chicken parmesan dump it on top of my sides. Now I have potatoes covered in tomato sauce & Rice pilaf covered in tomato sauce. Not what I wanted at all. What happened to take out dishes with dividers so your food doesn’t run into everything & look like mush. I could have gone to a restaurant for what I paid for this meal & it would have been served pleasantly & HOT not stone cold. I won’t make this mistake every again & buy anything from the hot counter. Not impressed at all!!!!

They are not all just the same cheapest white flour made into different shapes. Naan is meant to be actually different from sandwich bread. Sour dough is an actual thing, not just a name.(Polestar bread excepted here) Please, if you call them different things, make the breads actually different. Someday, a competing deli will open downtown, and Market Fresh will just be a dim, bad memory...

Upbeat music that everyone likes (usually without words). Food: Fresh organic produce. Baked goods that are fresh and they have different ones everyday, such as different flavours of scones, donuts, danishes and muffins. They also have variety of rolls, loaves of bread and cookies. There are desserts behind a glass display case such as cupcakes, cake, cream horns, French macaroons, cannolis as well as some vegan options. On a few wire racks are fresh pies, Portuguese egg custard tarts and macaroons. Prepared meals are available hot or cold. Market Fresh also offers much more!

Anyone who complains about their prices being high should stick to shopping at Food Basics/No Frills etc. as they clearly don't understand the metrics behind purchasing power. The more you purchase from your supplier, the cheaper the cost will be which translates into cheaper costs for customers. We ordered Christmas gift baskets from Market Fresh for our staff the contents of which, were very disappointing. Contrary to the advertisement of Market Fresh gift baskets, they used cheaper items to fill the gift baskets. It was embarrassing to offer these cheap alternatives to our stafff as Christmas gifts, compared to what Market Fresh had advertised. Further the baskets were only sparsely filled. As a company we would not do business with Market Fresh in future, nor would we recommend it to family, friends or colleagues. In our opinion Market Fresh gift baskets are not recommended, and they appeared to take full advantage of customers by accepting payment for orders which they clearly could not fulfill. When we picked up the gift baskets we felt most dissatisfied. Based on their advertisement, and the stark difference to it compared to the baskets we picked up, Market Fresh failed to live up to our expectations.

I ordered pizza today for the first time since last summer. It was very sparsely dressed and very bready! I added my own toppings when I got home. The pizza was only $13 and a bit. The pizza reflected the price. Cheap. I would prefer paying more for more generous toppings. No return for me. Too bad. Steve

This place is very overpriced. Almost every item has a significant mark-up over the price in other Guelph grocery stores. The problem with that is that this grocery store is the only choice within walking distance for residents who live in apartments in the downtown core. Many of these people have low incomes, do not drive, and do not have access to other grocery stores. Their only place to shop is significantly more expensive than other stores in the Guelph area which they can only reach with a bus ride or taxi fare. I think that the City of Guelph should rezone this store's location and force them to act as a normal grocer and not a "Gourmet Grocery Store" and offer food that the lower income residents of Guelph can actually afford. Downtown Guelph has enough specialty food stores, this company needs to stop taking advantage of local residents.

They have done the best job keeping everyone safe during covid. Great selection of prepared foods, including sushi make it an easy solution when you are on a tight schedule. Also have fresh produce meats, cheeses and an incredible bakery. Coffee bar right on the way out!

A variety of items was present, arranged in ordered rows, that were, in turn, arranged in an orderly fashion. There items were available for purchase, which is to say, one could exchange a set amount of currency for each item. The items seemed to be of quality and pleasant. The amount of requested currency was somewhat high, however the location of the building containing 'market fresh' makes up for this.

Great local grocery store, with a deli counter, bakery, and a counter for hot food. The downside is that it's expensive. But if you need something unusual, it's definitely possible that you'll find it here rather than a place like Zehrs or No Frills. They also sell other things like decorative knick knacks and some kitchenwares. Take a look at their discount aisle to get a great deal on some prepared dinners!

They keep giving me the wrong sandwich at the hot food section. Today I got a sandwich labeled as something I did not order. Girl at register said it's okay, sometimes they mislabel things for their own convenience. A vegan sandwich is a vegan sandwich after all. So I pay for it, and as it turns out it was not what I asked for. I have tried getting in touch with support but they have made it clear their stance is neglect.

I wont shop from Market Fresh anymore for the simple fact that the owners Frank and Dale are classist and exploitative. Everything looks good on the outside, but if you look a little closer you can see that everything is marked up in price, the staff turnover is extremely high, there are very little BIPOC employees and the owners are classist. I even saw the owners escorting a man who appeared to be homeless out of the store when he was simply browsing... that is beyond shameful
