As you know, we don't usually bother to give evaluations when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Butcher Shop is included in the category of Gourmet grocery store.
Very very expensive. Good groceries but overpriced. Free parking.
Good assortment of meats, but if you're looking for a cheap grocery store you're in a wrong place- Bruno's is quite pricey. On multiple occasions I've seen expired cheese on shelves (not on special, just regular-priced Camembert).
Overpriced. Lousy service. Is disdain for customers the strategy! Cashiers appear to have somewhere to go....
Open even on holidays - a place you can count on!
I am appalled at this store's careless approach to protecting customers during the pandemic. I've shopped here regularly for years but am done. They were one of the last grocery stores to require PPE for their customer-facing staff. Yesterday I noticed that ALL the staff at the butcher counter were wearing masks, but covering only their mouths - their noses were exposed. Why bother? The girls at the cash in the front touch their eyes, noses, hair, etc. with gloved hands that they then use to touch/reposition their masks, and they then use those same gloved hands to touch my groceries. Hoping Public Health stops by sometime soon because you clearly could care less about your customers!
Good produce, but expensive.
Bruno's is expensive, however, the meat is top quality and they have a wide range of sauces that you won't be able to find elsewhere.
Expensive but a good selection of cheeses and cold cuts; the lamb chops I bought here cooked exceptionally well. Apart from the odd treats, not a regular go to place to shop due to the $$$
Great meat department.
It's overpriced for certain staples you can get anywhere (e.g. milk, cheese, dry pasta); however, they carry lots of smaller premium (and unique) offerings. Nice meat, cheese and produce ... and excellent selection of house brand offerings - especially soups.
Went Sunday March 22 2020. Shocked bakery items loose in bins. Yes tongs but no other safety. Cashier as normal no extra precautions. I had bought meat so I did check out but won't be back untill you comply. Phoned back asked for manager Bazul. Seemed nonchalant said he'd tell manager tomorrow
My partner and I went shopping here recently and she found several packs of moldy tortillas on the shelf. She went to inform the staff when she checked out but they were too busy on their cellphones to acknowledge the issue. This is not the kind of service you would expect at a premium grocery store especially when you are going out of your way to let them know about a health and safety concern with THEIR store.
I always liked Bruno's meat selection
Good collection of groceries. Although they don't have too many Asian groceries, they do offer many boxed meals. It's a tad bit expensive, but if you are in old Dundas and need to walk up to a grocery, then they are the best one around.
Great quality meat. Expensive for general groceries.
Quality meats and fine grocery items. Prices are surprisingly high though.
Fantastic meats, sadly even in summer produce is mostly from USA, even potatoes. Not much local farmers support here.
Good customer service,but overpriced
Excellent customer service. I called in to the store while I was parked outside with a sleeping baby. The man who works in the bakery brought out to the car the item I was looking for. I handed him cash and he gave me the tube of icing then came back with my receipt and change!
Great bread sticks. A little pricey but then this is the Kingsway
I LOVE IT !We been here a few years Bruno's is fantastic. It has a real country atmosphere as does the neighborhood. The quality of meat, produce and hot table is over the top. I Stock up meat, chicken, fish, every time we head back to the country for extended stays . The staff are very nice young adults from the neighborhood .They are wonderful. They are attentive with any request choosing the perfect fish or steak, even offering to season it. What great service.. .A big round of applause to Bruno and company for suppling such a high standard of great food while employing local kids to learn some great skills on all levels . Best G
Great meat/poultry selection
Highest of quality and always very fresh. Good selection of premium items. You will pay more yes, but you will definately get what you paid for. Nice to shop there once in a while for those who are on a budget
They're always as helpful as a five-star hotel. Whenever I need something special because friends are coming over or have a special occasion, Bruno's has always got exactly what I need.
This place is so expensive for no reason, a small example; you can buy the milk Natrel paying 4.50 or $5.00 outside, but in this place it’s $7.00, why would I pay extra 2 dollars for a milk? The canned tuna usually is maximum $2.00 in any market, but here it’s $5.49??? Imagine paying extra 5.50$ for only two items, I’m not even talking about a full shopping!!
Good beef ribs nice staff good atmosphere lovely selection for anything and everything u will need it is a little expensive but it’s really worth it lovely gourmet grocery and food market will come back again
Their pies are over priced and terrible
Service, quality, great organization, fantastic meats
Way overpriced items, and unprofessional staff.
Just a gross store overall with inflated prices. Buyer beware. Send in some health inspectors!
Great food!
Amazing butcher department Lots of great cheeses, breads, dessert...a bit expensive but you get what you pay for.
Ridiculously expensive
My family has been ordering our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners from here for a couple years now. We can’t have any dairy or eggs and they make everything to fit our dietary restrictions. The mash potatoes, stuffing, gravy and meat are always delicious. Thanks Bruno’s team for our amazing holiday meals!
Great place, for a Prime Quality stuff!! Meats, salami, steaks, bread, you name it!! Is a very tasty experience to shop there!! I just got some New York steaks there today, yummy, The butcher department is amazing!! Shop there, is a pleasure !!
I love this Bruno's location! They have a great staff that offers the best service. The servers aren't rude and still realize what is to be a dignified human being. When I'm unsure of how to best prepare a certain cut of meat the head butcher is always there to offer great advice. This is coming from a person who used to shop in Richmond Hill and Avenue Road and Leslie locations.
Good quality produce and a nice selection of items, but shamefully expensive.
Always a great shopping experience and employee's are always great.
An excellent local store for great food. The selection is terrific. The produce is always first rate and I love the flowers. The claim to fame is their meats which are outstanding. The selection of cold salads is delightful. They also have a very good selection of Bruno’s own sauces which are very tasty.
Amazing selection for its size and really great brands. Bruno's also has its own in store brand definitely worth trying. Everything you need for a delicious meal. The produce section meanwhile is partially wonderful fresh produce, partially ridiculous levels of plastic! Bruno's gets in produce and then repackages it in plastic bags, which feels less Fine Food, more disposable and wasteful.
They are way off on the prices double then metro and that to much never again will i go back i only went because i won a gift certificate so i went to use it, but not worth it !!!!
This is my first time reviewing Bruno's. Just like a previous review (Paris18) I have been a customer and long time loyalist of Bruno's for over 20 years. Clearly Management doesn't seem to care about their reviews or paying attention to what is going on in the store. Over the last few years - rarely have I seen Senior management (let alone one manager) being present. Rather the location is attended by teens that seem to only worry about when their shift will end. The meat department is indeed a disaster, I also witnessed on Saturday Nov. 2 around 6pm and couldn't believe what I was witnessing hence why I am taking time to report it. The meet counter wasn't attended. Could see guys chatting in the back room. Had to wait for someone to get out of the back room after 3 min. of waiting. Employees had no hat or fishnet on, also wasn't bothered using gloves instead handling the meat with their bare hands while one of his collegues watched and played with his hair. These guys clearly couldn't care less about the basic level of service and hygiene required in a grocery store let alone the meat department. Request for certain type of cuts seem to be bothersome as well. Lastly, I will comment on the cashiers. November 2 was not different than the trend I had been noticing with this department which essentially is the last to greet you (and leave a positive impression) before you walk out. Quite often they are holding the Pink Flamingo position - staring in daze. Not bothered to greet anyone walking in as they are busy keeping an eye on their phone. This was for years their best attended position but lately everytime that I have been there - it feels like we bother them when checking out. They give me the impression that they have taken their business for granted just for being who they are but clearly they have fallen behind in their approach of servicing their clientele. I speak for many customers when I say this but it would be nice to be thanked once in a while for the business we give them as most transaction are never below $50 (more like $$$). Instead we get when being handed our receipt..."there you go". One that note...this was all I needed to finally come to grip that it was enough and that I would take our business elsewhere unfortunately.
The quality of the food is great. However, it is very expensive.
Extremely overpriced for basic products you can get at any grocery store.
Don't shop here often but got a bad turkey breast, Manager offered to replace it but decided to get reimbursed instead, no hassle on the return but not likely to buy meat there. I'll stick with my usual butcher. Giving four stars based on how they handled it.
Went there yesterday and was shocked at the prices. Clearly price gouging and profiteering during covid. most things were double what they should cost. $20 for a small package of TP, 15 for a jar of pasta sauce, 6 for app,e sauce. They should be ashamed. Avoid this place.
January 10 6:30pm. The food was extremely overpriced here but what made up for it was the amazing service that came from the two handsome gentlemen working at the meat counter. Their work ethic and kindness was like nothing I’ve seen in all my many years of grocery shopping at Bruno’s. A young gentleman helped me with my groceries and getting to my car and when they saw a backed up line at the cash the stars came to the rescue helping bag groceries. I asked for both of their names and they were Emitt and Malan. I just wrote this review to congratulate the store manger on his excellent judgement of character when hiring these lovely young men.
Bruno’s on Dundas Street West is my go to store. Their Angus ground beef for burgers tastes like biting into a steak. Their prime rib is a favourite with our guests. The chicken breasts are the most tender I have ever tasted. Try their stuffed ones - they freeze well too. To top off your meal, pick up a frozen, uncooked, apple pie - the best I have ever tasted. Baking it fresh at home is a bonus. If you’re in a hurray, many of their prepared salads sold at the counter are also pre-packaged near the veggies. Their produce might cost a little more, but the flavour/freshness are worth the extra price. The meat counter staff might look young, but their expertise is dead on re cooking time etc. They’re also very patient when I’m selecting which ie pieces of meat/fish/poultry I want. The cashiers are efficient, helpful and extremely courteous. They’re more than happy to bag my items, put my grocery cart away and help each other, rather than standing around doing nothing. Gossiping around the cash/entrance just doesn’t happen, unlike many stores I shop at. Overall, this Bruno’s location has fresh delicious food and excellent staff. A well run grocery store.
It's a great place to shop.
Over price for poor produce. Went to figgy lube next door so i went to buy groceries at brunos. When i arrived at home i had too pick between the good raspberries and blueberries. Clean your produce better if it's this expensive. I won't be going back.
Quite honestly - the best ribs in town!! Omg worth every penny.
Bruno's has by far one of the best butcher's counter and deli in the city, and a great assortment of items hard to find otherwise to compliment any meal or snack. Once you get used the higher prices than chain stores like Loblaws or Metro, it is the amazing quality and fantastic service that brings you back time and time again.
Best butcher counter in Toronto, bar none. I've tried them all, but these guys are the best. Customer orders or cuts- never a problem. Consistently high quality across all of their meats! Well done!
I have been shopping at Bruno's for over 20 years, but this past year has been very frustrating to shop there. Firstly there are too many younger employees and not enough visual management. The meat department is a disaster, I view the employees using there bare hands to handle all meats, I have to constantly remind them to use the plastic that is available to them because my son has a fish allergy. Last week I viewed the young men throwing a piece of meat at another employee and spraying them with the sprayer. Brunos has always shown to be a high end speciality store with top quality meat but has cheapened out on hiring professional staff.
In the past I have purchased some items from Bruno's BBQ counter and enjoyed them. This week I purchased two grilled turkey legs that were quite disappointing: very salty, chewy, hard, dry. Awful!
Never fails every time I go in something is expired If you tell staff they just stare at you like your crazy Tuna that expired dec 31 2017?? Over priced as it is but will round up even if you pay debit or credit Asking for help is frustrating most don’t know or are too busy talking with other employees It sucks bc Bruno’s actual products are great but service cleanliness and product rotation is lacking
Bruno's has Wagyu beef, enthusiastic staff, and ingredients that will impress whoever you're cooking for!
Great meat and deli section
A few months ago I went into Bruno's for some potato salad and some sliced meat. There were three or more young girls behind the counter with spray bottles of windex squirting it everywhere. They sprayed it on the scales and did not even wipe them properly, also I watched them spray the glass, close to the food. I was very sick from the food I bought that night. I went in a few days later and spoke to the manager, who told me they would change things right away. Well today I decided to try again, and again I am sick from the potato salad which taste off. I wont be going back. Just seems like a bunch of young girls standing around. The worse customer service , what a let down.Sorry Bruno.. three thumbs down.
I used to always get my meat from Bruno’s. It is a little pricier but the quality was always great so it seemed worth it. Within the last few months I have had numerous occasions where my meat smelt spoiled when I got home. A couple times the chicken breast smelt off and was sticky which is a sign it has spoiled and most recently the Italian sausages I got had a off smell.. I cooked them anyways and then when we ate them we could tell they definitely were off. It’s unfortunate because I like to support local but I don’t think I will be buying my meat there given the very high price point and lack of quality. Everything else from there is great…which is why I still have them 3 stars. I do enjoy some of the other items they have.
Nice shopping experience. Great meats and great items to choose from
Way over priced for the quality they provide. Although some of the staff are super nice, others seem to be miserable. They’re hot food is ok at best. I go there for lunch only because there is no other market in the area.
