I've been to quite a few local butcher shops and hands down, Farm and Field Butchers wins my heart. I'd say Four Quarters, Berrymans and Fraser Orr's follow a second combined. Farm and Field, folks. Check out the other places too. All ethical, local and loving to the core.

They opened at 11 and there was already a loooooong line up even before that. Took over an hour in line to finally get some prime ribs. Maybe it’s only this busy during holidays season. They have a great selection of meat and sausages. Everything is expensive than I expected but hopefully worth it.

I'm a new customer to Farm & Field Butchers, but after two exceptional experiences, I have now added this shop to my "must visit" list of downtown Victoria stores. Their prices are fair, albeit a tiny bit high, but for the quality it is certainly worth the cost! The staff are awesome - each time I've visited, it has been a bunch of young men who are friendly and seem passionate about the work they do. The store itself is bright, clean, and also has an assortment of ingredients, condiments, etc. Much better than just getting your meat at the grocery store!

This is my "local" butcher. Everything is great quality. I am also on a quest to reduce my plastic and styrofoam usage; they wax paper they use makes me want to use them over the other stores. All in all, a great downtown shop! Keep up the good work.

Favorite butcher in Victoria. They have a wide variety of delicious gluten-free sausages (& other meats too; but we are partial to the sausages), scrumptious house-made treats such as pepperoni (try the fennel pepperoni, it's amazing), pickles, and olives; and lots of fresh & frozen meats. They also stock homemade potpies, stock, etc. 11/10 would recommend.

Excellent quality meats and very friendly service. Their aged beef is superb and the baby back pork ribs were the meatiest i have ever seen. i smoked them low and slow and the meat was fall off the bone tender. Farm and Field is now our go-to butcher.

Bought about a 4lb ish leg of lamb of these folks. First time cooking and eating lamb leg. It was an incredible cut of meat. So deliciously meaty with that nice lamb flavour. For customer service, despite the pandemic, they were courteous, quick, and taking all the right precautions. I have bought odds and ends off this business before but this big buy has cemented me as a customer. For the leg, I drew inspiration from a couple recipes. I did a slow and low(250°f, 2 hours) with a mustard seed dry rub (pan toasted whole seeds ground and mixed with paprika, thyme, cayenne, garlic, cayenne and cinnamon powders) until 145° f ish internal. I finished it on a screaming hot cast iron with a sear and a fresh garlic/rosemary browned butter baste.

Having bought a tasty strip loin steak once before, I decided to try their brined and rubbed pork chops and chose one with a fennel rub. I cooked them on the bbq and, while they looked delicious, we found them to be excessively salty, the rub overwhelmed by fennel and hiding under the rub was a whole lot of fat. Not a success. I went to the website and emailed with polite feedback because I did not want to be overheard in the store giving negative feedback since I would really like the shop to thrive. I have not heard word one back from them and so assume they do not care so will take my business elsewhere.

We were in Victoria from Saltspring Island and were craving a good pepperoni stick. We came away highly impressed in every regard. The space was clean and inviting with a great assortment of ethically and pasture raised option. The staff were friendly and helpful. Really one of the best example of a butcher shop we’ve seen.

8 lbs Beef short ribs ordered with this company came to $122.76. Normally my wife and I don't mind paying extra knowing the animals are treated more humanely. However these were to be smoked for 8 hours and were cut individually instead of a slab of four. The silver skin was not taken off as asked. The icing on the cake was 30 percent off the product was fat that had to be cut out. After trimming I was left with 5 lbs of short rib and bone and 3 lbs of fat. I will ask my wife never to shop here again. Companies like this prey on good hearted people but in the end provide, in my opinion, an inferior product. In today's world adding catch phrases like humane or free range or grass fed just means take more money out of your wallet while I sell you a dream that doesn't exist. Terrible product. This customer will not be back. My wife will do her own review and add the photos. The dinner plate full of fat is from only two ribs.

Delicious local meats, some of the best pork chops I have ever had the privilege of cooking. Their sausages and charcuterie are fantastically diverse and flavourful. Especially love the boneless chicken thighs with the skin left on! All the flavour without losing the fat that normally happens with deboned chicken thighs. The steaks are richly flavourful and gorgeously marbled. Staff are always friendly and helpful, and willing to do special cuts for my various experiments in smoking, grilling, and roasting.

This review is for their brisket meat pie. WOW!!! I can honestly say it might be the best meat pie I've ever eaten. I was so impressed with the crust (cooked crunchy on the bottom from frozen) and stuffed full of meat!! No soggy bottom or soupy gelatinous gravy found here! Excited to go back and try the other pies.
