This Country Grocer store has a great selection of products. They have recently expanded their dry organics and natural remedies section. I find that the prices are generally lower at Country Grocer than is the case for the exact same products at other local stores. The organic produce is unfortunately, not as good as some other stores.

I like this store, but had never been there in the evening. Rang the bell in the bakery and no service. Two employees working in the deli totally ignored us and were rather bothered when we asked if someone was working in the bakery. The person was on break. Why not put up a sign instead of letting people ring the bell forever. Or better yet, does it not make sense to cover each other's breaks? It's called customer service!

It's a good layout, clean and nice staff. It's a higher priced store, but the sales are very good. Great selection of organic and non organic produce. They have a good variety of gluten-free prepared foods too. Also a good selection of non-gmo and other health foods, vegan foods, and more. When you walk in, they have the best priced plants, that I've found around. Also nice flowers inside.

i called the post office because i had a simple inquiry about a missing package that was said to be at their location - i kindly explained the situation and was SHOCKED by how rude the employee was. i also had to call 5 times throughout the day until they picked up the phone - most of the time they didn't pick up and sometimes they picked up and just hung up right away to end the call.

Good deals on packaged goods and frozen items, though they don't have much for local produce (loads of stuff out of Cali, even when we're in the height of Autumn) you will likely spend a lot less on conventional groceries here. If you're into juicing and all that jazz, they're recently started tucking juicing bundles (kale, chard, mint, etc.) and little "CSA" style boxes in the corner of the organics section - good deal for a mix that's ideal for singletons and couples who don't dine home much.

Well ... unfortunately it tends to cater to the perceived demographic of the neighbourhood. But with that said they have a good meat department, friendly long term staff and it's a great size (not too large). In general avoid their produce department (Red Barn will fill that gap come spring) and support the neighbourhood grocer. Oh ... and you don't need a silly rewards card to get the sale prices ;)

It’s mostly good deals and good variety but keep your eyes on your receipt if you make big shop. Sometimes cashiers make mistakes which is understandable in these crazy covid days, they’re so busy. I paid $4.50 for three tomatoes (400gr) and actually I bought cheaper tomato but cashier put a code for expensive one. I bought a Reuben sandwich for lunch and it was so good that I had to go back in to buy a loaf of the bread they used. I asked them to slice it for me and I told them it was just like the Montreal Kosher pumpernickle I had growing up. They were so happy and called over the baker who introduced himself as a Habs fan. This is a smaller local chain of grocery stores in Victoria. This is probably their flagship store with the nicest space and largest supply. It competes well with the Thrifty and Quality foods options. Depending on which store you put them up against I think their deli and bakery is as good as any, Produce is a little better than most, and I might mark them down a little on the meat department. Prices are solid - if you’d rather not need a member card or some points system to get the best price this is the store you should use.

Grocery store is great BUT AVOID THE POST OFFICE. I don't know what it is... every time I go there (it's the default for parcel pick up in my area) the woman I deal with are just rude. Having a bad day or not try to fake a smile ladies! It's not hard. Edit. So again I'm sorry Country Grocer but your post office is the worst.

It’s more expensive than other stores but the personnel are awesome. I was there today with my 103 yr old mom She felt dizzy and short of breath. A cashier named Alyx came over immediately and took moms arm. She then came up with a wheelchair and told mom (who was embarrassed) she should treated like a princess and was going to the car like royalty. She never left our dude til mom was safely inside the car. Alyx deserves employee of the year. What a kind girl. What a quick thinking gal. Give that gal a raise.

I have been to this location many times growing up. My recent visit I found the items easy to find and the staff to be polite and helpful. I don't come to this location a lot because I live near downtown, but I used to live in esquimalt as a child so whenever I visit, a lot of memories of the plaza and this store come flooding back. I feel the store is kept nicely cleaned and tidy. The shelves are nicely done. Looking forward to more visits in the future!

I used to shop here often, until I just had one of the employees taking inventory have a mental flip out on my and verbally assault me about getting to close to him will he blindly stood in the dairy section in everyone's way. Then for some reason was completely OK with talking to customers 10 seconds later within 6 feet. I stopped shopping immediately and bought what I already had in my basket. When I called in to make a formal complaint about the employee, the man answering the phone justified the employees actions by saying "Our employees are just under a lot of stress right now". Listen everyone is under stress everyday and you should NEVER take out your frustrations on people that just want to shop at your establishment.

I called their Royal Oak store to get a price for Farm House ground chicken. I was informed that their policy was to ‘ not give prices out over the phone because if people knew the price they wouldn’t come to their store’. The problems for Country Grocer with this are: It’s damn poor customer service. I live near Elk Lake and food shop at Broadmead Thrifty’s, Bentwood Fairways, Costco and Royal Oak Country Grocer, Country Grocer are discouraging customers from coming to their store. I was trying to decide if it was worth going to Carnivore Meats(they only sell meat) since I had to go to Country Grocer anyway. I already called Carnivore and got their price (which have since found to be about the same as Country Grocer) all I needed was a price that would make it easier to just go to the Royal Oak Country Grocer. I never got that so went to the store that gave me respect, and also got my other groceries there. Country Grocer begs the question, I got a bunch of old receipts to compare price between them and the aforementioned. Some of the prices might be because of sales but they didn’t do very good. The meat market employee hung up on me when I pointed out that the store was jerking customers around with this policy. This note is to inform we agree on one thing - You don’t need us as a customers -

It is clean and consistent. It isn't fancy but often has really good specials. If an item is at, or near, "best before date" they will give a deep discount. Nice staff. In the mall, there are a few covered parking spaces which great for me as a dog owner. Beaver Lake Park and Saanich Commonwealth Place are nearby, so I can walk my dog, grocery shop, visit the library and my gym all in one trip. My dentist, my bank, a great bakery and a liquor store are also there.

I really like how we have a local Vancouver Island family owned grocery store like this. Ample parking at the Royal Oak location. Fresh produce and competitive pricing. I've noticed that many regularly purchased items are cheaper to buy at regular price at Country Grocer. I would shop here more consistently if I still lived in the area.

Selection is as usual in any grocery store. Produce section is nice with indirect lighting as well as revamped displays. Plant and flower section in the store is more open and nicely arranged. Meat and fish section needs improvement. Bakery section has been redone.and displays are nicer. Deli section is nice with lots of variety and specials.

Waited 10 minutes before someone finally served me in deli. Wanted both macaroni and potato salad both of which I was told "Haven't come in yet". Employee sarcastically says "We're 2 for 2 today". Drove half way across town for absolutely nothing but awful poor customer service and staff, who simply don't want to be there with their F you attitude.

My wife and I stopped in there on our way home today. Not our usual grocery store. We found it to be a very clean store with courteous staff and a great selection of local product. Prices are pretty much comparable with our normal grocery store with a few exceptions. Definitely worth shopping at.
