Stopped at the plaza for beer but the delicious aroma brought me here. It's neat in there and the people are friendly. The beef and lamb is locally raised and grass fed if that's your thing. I picked up 750 mL of Carrot Apple Peach juice for $2.00 which ain't a bad price. It was pretty good! Also grabbed a steak and some rosemary lamb sausages. The man gave me the sausages as a free sample since I hadn't tried them. Thanks again! I can't make any promises that you'll get any freebies but the place is still worth a stop. ;) 10/10 saw a cool photo of a hawk eating lunch in the parking lot

They are always so friendly here. The meat is all so fresh and such good quality! I don't buy meat often but when I do, I only buy my meat here since discovering it! The meat is local and grassfed with no harmful additives! I feel lucky living on thd island because of our fresh meat and produce! This is the place! If you are looking for pasture raised, grass-fed meat, this is the store for you. The staff are very knowledgeable about their products, and they are friendly and helpful, too. All their sausages are wheat and gluten free. I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable the meats were. If you are on a low carb or Keto diet, the meats here are the best for your health.

Ian and his team provide excellent service. The meat is as local as possible, mostly, if not all from Vancouver Island. In addition to the standard cuts of chicken, beef and pork, they also make their own sausages (curry chicken and curry beef are fantastic). Jake's meals are delicious too - especially his Butter Chicken and vegetarian Dahl.

Being naive to the butcher shop experience, I honestly thought “how much difference does a local butcher shop REALLY make compared to your local grocery store?” Answer: HUGE difference. I didn’t go for the most expensive steaks, but what I chose were tender and amazingly delicious. I never thought you could taste the difference, but you most certainly can. The girl that served me (I didn’t catch her name but she was working the afternoon of Sept. 5th) was patient, attentive and easily answered all of my questions, and gave me great recommendations. Long story short, I won’t go anywhere else for meat from now on. AMAZING.

We called ahead and talked to a really nice, knowledgeable staffer about portioning for short ribs, then ordered a dozen, fat and juicy. Wow, were they ever! Beautiful product, great quality. Cooking them was a dream thanks to the uniformity of the cuts. They turned out super tender, rich but not fatty. Carnivore is now our go-to butcher on the peninsula - great looking selection in the cases too!

Update: you can read the original review below but within minutes of me posting it they called me, apologized and told me if I had time they would have two recut steaks ready for me. This is remarkable service and commitment to their product. Original: I ordered two bone-in rib-eyes two inches thick for my wife’s birthday. Total was $113 ($29 per lb) and was quite disappointed that they were 2 inches at the bone and much thinner on back. Maximum bone minimum meat, and not going to give an even cook. I didn’t get a good look in the store as the fellow held them face on through the cooler. I didn’t realize how sloppy the cutting was until I got home. If I had the option I’d return them but with the pandemic we don’t want to go out for dinner and it is too late to source something else. I will buy from them again but not without careful inspection.

Smoked Andouille sausage is delicious! Also, I made bone broth with their frozen bones and got a wonderfully jellied, good tasting, dark coloured bone broth, so much better than plain old marrow bones from grocery store. Worth the extra drive for me.

Very helpful when asked about different kinds of meat and suggesting different ways to prepare cuts either on the BBQ or otherwise. If they dont have what you want at the counteŕ, they are very good at letting you know when it will be in stock again. Have both frozen and fresh on hand and most selections are local. They make a variety of sausages, all of which are very good. Soups available in their refrigerated/frozen section as well as a small quantity of prepared meals. Seasonings, rubs and marinades are also available in store. Also have a selection of frozen dog food as well.
