SO HERES THE DEAL ..... This sausage is on par with my favourite Hungarian sausage I import from Ontario! Although tastes different I will explain what it’s like. The Hot Smoked Hungarian sausage Tastes like this. First a mild to medium Skokie flavour hits your palette—> then a meaty and spicy element is present and then the last element a Mild sour taste draws it together... but wait and then a little more spice is added and you taste all four of these at the same time !! The thing to note with this sausage is that all the flavours are balanced. And normally I like my Hungarian sausage to be more Smokey and fatty but this sausage makes up with that with its balance. At the end of the day it’s the best I’ve had from Edmonton and I have eaten Polish, Portuguese, German and other Hungarian sausage. When I sit and reminisce about how it tastes. All I can say is that it’s so good that it ACTUALLY leaves me smiling when I chew it . Not kidding . A must buy in Edmonton if you like spicy sausage. My fav spot at-least. I discovered this place during my quest for a Haggis. Been looking for months and a fellow worker noted this place. Haggis of all sizes including patty style. Their bangers are fantastic as re the meat pies. Over Christmas, I picked up some Scotch eggs. Spicy and filling! Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. It reminds me of shopping with my parents as a kid at the local butcher shop in our small town. You will not be disappointed!

We decided to switch it up from having turkey for thanksgiving this year and ordered a tortiere (meat pie) instead. This was the best one any of our guests (and us) have ever tried! The crust was light & flaky and the filling was so flavourful. Expensive ($20 for the tortiere) but absolutely worth it. This would be amazing to serve at Christmas!

Great products well made and helpful staff. It's cash or debit only, so come prepared as you will want to bring much home. Their meat pies have excellent crusts and their haggis patties are clever and tasty.

If you want great tasting local sausage, this is the place to go. The Allendale sausage is a classic and the Greek feta sausage is my personal favourite.

They have a great selection of meat pies and sausage that is made in house. Update: I went back on a different day and they have so much! So many kinds of meat pies, sausages, Cornish pasties, scotch eggs, haggis, sausage rolls etc. This is the best meat shop in the city without question. The staff/owner was also very patient and answered every question I had and legitimately seems like he loves his job and the community.

Great handmade food. Available frozen and fresh. Love the tortierre! Also great brats and other sausage. ( my favourite is the allandale sausage) Buy local! Better prices than grocery store and not machine made food.

You can find the best sausages and meat pies in town here. I have been going to Old Country for over 14 years. The original owner made great sausages but eventually sold the business. Luckily, now not only have the great original sausage recipes been kept, many new tasty recipes have been added. I specially like that there is a Allendale sausage (yes, named after the neighbourhood) because it is delicious and shows that this shop is proud of its neighbourhood. The haggis here is also something to experience as are the smoked meats. Great to see that this local family business has maintained the quality that earned it such a strong client loyalty.

Was looking for ground chorizo to make lasagna. Emailed them and they answered back next morning and hooked me up. Was delicious. Next time buying more to make smoked chorizo tacos as well

I got a chicken pot pie, a steak and blue cheese pie, two sausage rolls, and a ring of kielbasa. The pies were extremely good with particular accolades going to the pastry. The sausage roll pastry was about a 7/10, but the filling was delicious and there was plenty of it. The kielbasa. This was a shock. Lean, packed with flavour, and not too salty. Likely some of the best I've had. Will return.

I told the fellow here that I needed a haggis education, as I wanted to serve it for my dad's birthday. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. Dad was delighted, and our family enjoyed the experience. Also had a Tortiere which was excellent. Prices are good. If it was closer to home I would be a regular :)
