What can I say about Ben's Meats that hasn't already been said? First of all, the staff is fantastic. They are always available and willing to answer your questions, no matter how stupid you think they may be. Great selection of meats and cuts available. There are also Dutch/European grocery type items for sale as well - I prefer the Fritessaus myself. The place has been open and family owned forever and has recently updated the facade of the building, which really makes it one of the more attractive storefronts on Stony Plain Road. Best butcher shop in West Edmonton hands down.

I've been going to Ben's Meats since I was a young girl with my parents when Pieter ran the shop. It was smaller then .. long and narrow, with a windmill at the front till that you could submit your name into for a monthly draw. It has always been, as the Dutch say, gezelig. Top quality, locally sourced, butchered and smoked in-house meats and a wide selection of Dutch products .. including dozens of variety of drop (Dutch licorice). Family owned for generations and it shows in the quality of the service. There's a reason why their clientele have been going there for decades and why you will too .. it's the Best!

Simply the best! Not only a fantastic family owned Dutch deli that has been around since 1953, but go here for lunch. Highly recommend having the Croquettes on a bun, with gouda, some mayo, and some nice grainy mustard. Croquettes just like Oma & Opa's house. Great service, and great products. What more could you want! Even not looking for Dutch products, they have a wide variety of gluten free products on the shelf, in the freezer, and fresh in the deli.

Only deli I've been to but I'm always happy with the service there. Family owned (Dutch) deli that has awesome jerky, along with lots of fresh cuts of meat. They also have giant freezer packs for family's that look pretty good. Store has a lot of other goods that you don't see in normal grocery stores. I recommend!

Came here for the second time last week and oh my GOD it's amazing. The owner is the sweetest man alive and truly cares about his business and customers. He's celiac too so he fully gets it- so many gluten free options you can't find elsewhere. He also caters to those of us with additional sensitivities and allergies and makes sure to stock up and source lots of different options. The staff all take the time to get ingredient lists if you need them and they are so patient and understanding which is literal gold if you have dietary restrictions because most places and people aren't so great about it. I fully recommend this place above so many others, coming here gave me such a boost in my mood and I left walking on air ???? BEN'S MEATS IS WHERE IT'S AT, FOLX!

Small stores, lovingly run to share a particular culinary point of view, are my way to happiness. I collect them, like trading cards, often filling in my gap time with visits in order to get inspiration for my next cookery. Ben's had me from the Stroopwafels, which I loved fresh in Amsterdam, and kept me with all the Dutch items, including more foodstuffs and even fan team scarves and shirts. (I grew up in Soestdijk and Ben's brings back memories of both the foods and the way of shopping that's so different than the once-weekly big box shopping that's typical today.) The deli counter is a big win, from traditional Italian salumi to smoked horse (tasty, salty!) to gouda to sub sandwiches (which, yes, at one time I called "grinders" and "hoagies"). Ben's: go there, enjoy the foodie love, take home some of the joy.

I would have to say, Ben's Meats is by far the best place for fresh and frozen goods. Ben's is so much more than meats, with a Holland twist you can experience so much more. While there is something for everyone, people of Dutch heritage or people with Celiac Disease really need to check it out. I was late on buying chocolate letters for St Nick's day this year so I phoned ahead to see if they had any left. The person who answered was not only friendly, but he went to check if they had the letters I needed and set them aside for me. I'd never been to Ben's Meat and Deli before, but it was easy to find, and when I walked in, it was like walking into my childhood. So many Dutch items! I ended up getting more than just the chocolate letters. It was also very busy and clearly very loved. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely be returning and recommend shopping here to others.

Perfect cut of brisket at an amazing price! I made my family’s brisket recipe for the first time by myself (covid...) and it was the first time using this shop. WOW! I am so impressed. The price was fair, about $26 for 4 pounds and the flavor and layer of thin fat was insanely good. Butcher that helped us and answered our questions was laid back and friendly too! Can’t wait to visit again for our next cooking adventure.

If you are celiac and you have not visited here you are 100% missing out on one of the best places in Edmonton. Absolutely exceptional service (So busy because its well loved) I love getting fried things from here (such a treat for us gluten free dwellers). The first time I went here was on a busy saturday. The owner took the time to walk me around the store and show me all the gluten free amazingness. Its absolutely spectacular. You are absolutely missing out if you dont try their gf spring rolls, wontons, donair poutine, and mini donuts (on most but not all Saturday mornings).

Today we just bought wood pellets for our smoker, but other times we have grabbed something to eat from their food counter along with our meat. Their grocery section is quite diverse. I love this store but I limit my visits because I spend too much money. I love that you can buy smoked horsemeat here, although my friends think it's terrible. What I DON'T appreciate is that you are always closed on the Tuesday after a long weekend. Twice I have stood at a locked door, and I am forced to go to your competition which is not a butcher shop. I also go to the Italian store, which thank goodness has what I come for. Cheese! Come on. This Canada, not Holland, where they close a store for 2 weeks at a time. I don't understand that you can afford to close like this, given all the competition out there, like Dutch Delicious! Thanks for listening.

Absolutely worst deli in Edmonton. I bought a rack of lamb there. Very small rack and it was almost 80$... I did not pick it up my girlfriend did so she didn't know what to look for. Locally owned, 3rd generation butchers. If they don't have exactly what you are looking for, just ask, and they can probably accommodate. I called to get 80-20 chuck to make burgers, and they ground fat into a 90-10 mix for me to make it just right. Big cheese selection, plus MANY options for those are are gluten-free. Don't forgot to grab a sandwich. And ask when they do brisket & other smoked meat. It's devine.

An understated hidden gem in Edmonton. Amazing place for a good lunch at a good price. Great if you are celiac or diet conscious. There is a separate fryer for gluten free and the owner is celiac so they are very good about dietary issues. Many meats are higher quality than advertised and most deli items are gluten free.

What a gem this place is! Wish I'd found it sooner. Amazing selection of GLUTEN FREE foods from fresh cuts of meat and sausages to frozen foods and dry goods. They also have a dedicated GF fryer so they can cook up some chicken fingers, fries, spring rolls, etc. for a tasty lunch/snack to go. I've cooked and had their spring rolls, turkey meatballs, pizza shells, and other baked goods. It has all been delicious, the rest of the family enjoyed them too. They bring in frozen gluten free baking from some favorite bakeries. I get excited going here and feel like I could buy up most of the store.

Tried the Super Sub. I was attended very courteously and promptly. The sub has a lot of meet and tasty Holland cheese. I'll totally recommend it comparing price quality ratio. They offer as well soups, but I couldn't find in their menu if they offer Thea or Coffee to go. Anyways excellent place for cold meats and cheese as well for hollandaise products.

The meat is quality. From the steak to the ribs. To the chicken. The hamburger is lean. We had a friend refer us here. Also the high ratings made it look even better. After going in we decided to go again. The service is really top notch. We don't eat pork and they have no issues in substitutes and really are quite nice. This place has every cut of meat you'll need and they sell frozen blocks of raw cat/dog food for $16 for 10lbs! It's hutterite chicken ground with the hearts, livers, and bones for the right ratio of K/Ca. It also comes in turkey and beef although the beef doesnt have as much bone in it though and is more pricey at $25 for 10lbs

This is not a butcher. They don't make any of their own sausages or product. I stopped in THINKING that they would be making their own product in the back. You know?. like... A butcher shop. Nope. I asked the girl behind the showcase which products were made at their location. She said nothing. Nothing?? So all the sausages and EVERYTHING else is made elsewhere in a factory?? With no control over how much filler or nitrates (preservatives) are put in, etc. I mean, what makes this place better than any supermarket deli then?? You'd be better off going to K&K on Whyte because they actually have a butcher shop in the basement. I'd rather have my sausage locally made and from someone I can trust rather than being imported from a factory from Toronto. I walked out without buying one item. I will never step foot in Ben's meats again.

Everyone keeps raving about all of the gluten-free items here, so I decided to pop in around lunch. Tons of gluten-free items, some of which I haven’t seen anywhere else in Edmonton. The associates are so very helpful in highlighting the gluten-free items and also some of the items which aren’t gluten-free. Lots of meat, jerky and cheeses available, also. If i wasn’t returning to the office, I probably would have stocked up on a box of frozen and refrigerated items. I’ll return for those. They also have hot lunch specials and fresh-made sandwiches (pictured). I decided to get the gluten-free donair poutine and it was AWESOME. Highly recommend. Will probably try the fish and chips next time.

A nice little butcher shop/grocery/deli with a reasonable selection of meats and grocery items with a lot of dutch goods (I'm not dutch so I can't comment on how genuine the dutch goods are). Some of their meat items are imported from other shops but of course you can only do so much in a small shop. They could easily be five stars and I would go here more often but when I went in I noticed nobody in the meat department was wearing disposable gloves. This is not a major concern but it is becoming pretty much standard food handling procedure these days to wear disposable gloves and the cost is minimal. For this reason alone, I go more often to other shops for meat. Hopefully this will change soon.

Great selection of fresh Great tasting meats. Also have asst candies and little hidden treasures that is a must go to see. Freezer packs are jam packed goodness with flavour that you don't get from a regular grocery store. The price point compared to supermarket meats is beyond what's acceptable. Try it for yourself, you won't go back to regular supermarket meats after tasting one of their succulent steaks, or chop or chicken whatever is your flavour they have something for you.

This time lucked out and got there when there was no line up. Sadly, they were already out of prime rib roast I was looking for. Chatted with butcher and went with tenderloin. I decided to buy the whole piece. He did a fantastic job and took all the connective tissue off, cut the roast, tied it, and cut the rest into steaks for me. He butchered it so much quicker than I did last time I bought a whole tenderloin. Lol Everything is vaccusealed. Price per kilo ended up WAY less than a supermarket and the service at Ben's is great, with lots of staff working the counter. I'm so glad I moved to Westend and can go to Ben's with ease.

Excellent selection of meats. The staff is very friendly. I recommend the Maui ribs, they are seasoned and super easy to cook. You can just throw them on the bbq or any grill. If you want food for a large party you can order a full pig. They can have the whole pig cooked up and cut into various parts. Also great lamb selection if you get there early you can buy the unfrozen cuts. If you want to stop in for a croquette that’s also an option. Quick tasty snack. Check this place out!

Have gotten lots of steaks from here and they are great, this time I wanted to try and rotisserie a prime rib. They expertly trimmed and tied the roast up so I had the awesome ribs, with the advantage of a boneless roast when I cut the twine off. All I can say is this is hands down the best prime rib I have ever eaten, the Keg ain’t got nothing on this prime rib. It wasn’t cheap but you certainly are getting the highest quality meat money can buy. Well worth the trip if you want next level bbq.
