What a blessing! Wish this was closer to my house. These guys know their meats and are super hospitable. I got a few varieties of their sausages and they were so rich in flavor. Spicy meant Indian spicy to me, but here I understood what a German spicy sausage can be. I got a back stage tour of the place. A lot of hard work goes in there so that we can simply go buy some good meat. I enjoyed the sausages and now am out... need to make the trip again. Thanks again guys!! I will thank you even more and more often if you were in South Surrey as well.

While the deli stocks some German staples such as Kuehne pickles and sauerkraut, Eduscho coffee, currywurst sauce and freshly made pretzels, it's the award winning home-made butchery items that make this a must for any German or German food lover. The wieners keep winning best prize and the cold cuts and bratwurst are also delish.

Today Internet said open! Well super fun, it was closed. You could safe your "thanks for understanding" what you wrote on your door. I don't have any.The extra trip to your place cost me 2 hours. The best sausage is not worth this kind of trouble, since you are not the only place in the Vancouver area who offers German and European sausage and products. The friendly owners of this delicatessen come from Saxony-Anhault in Germany. They man the counter themselves and make their own German sausages, lunchmeats and dry cured meats in the back. (They also make sauerkraut, bread rolls and pretzels....and a bunch of other stuff probably). For lunch, they also sell sandwiches to go, as well as soup in the colder months. The store also sells a selection of German mustards, and other food items imported from Germany. The price point of the items in the store, especially the high quality meats they produce is extremely reasonable for what you are getting. I particularly recommend the hot Lyoner sausage, it is a perfect blend of savory, salty and spicy. I also really like their Shinkenspeck, it is melt in your mouth awesome. They also sell Italian style deli meats such as Mortadella, Capicolli and Bresaola which are also delicious.

The food is fresh but way over priced. 8$ for a sandwich?? I don’t think they have heat or electricity and do not trust the hours of operation as they are never accurate. One employee is very rude and talks like a trucker and it’s very rude. The younger staff that were there were the only positive about my visits in the past. I won’t be returning.

An amazing little store with high quality products. They also have imported German sweets (prepackaged) and commonly have loaves of rye bread for sale. Wonderful service every time. Sausages are also gluten free.

Honestly, I'm disappointed. I had high expectations because of the rave reviews. The schnitzel was just okay. The dessert pastries smelled and tasted like they had been stored uncovered in a fridge full of onions and pickles. My kids wouldn't even eat them. The homemade sauerkraut was the only thing I would purchase again. It was amazing. Best I've had outside of Leavenworth. Over all though, I expect much better for the prices I paid.

This year my wife's family had a German themed Xmas. And I, being a good German, offered to cook the bulk of the feast. The crowd favorite was by far the bratwurst that I picked up from Altmaeker. They reminded me of the ones I'd eaten in Germany a couple years back. Will be stopping by here to stock up as often as I can manage from here on out.

Always a great selection of what you would expect to find but also all sorts of new things to try. Stephan is amazing at what he does and it shows in their products. Small, family owned, good selection and amazingly friendly! This is a small and sort of tucked away place that you can't afford to miss. Whether it's your typical deli meat for your day to day sandwhichs, pepperoni sticks for snacks, or the juicy and flavourful German bratwurst sausages for dinner, Altmaerker Deli checks all the boxes off! I can't recommend this place enough! Also nicely located at the heart of North Delta and easily accesible from transit!

Great, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable service. Excellent Weisswurst, Bockwurst, Vienna Wieners, and the caseless Currywurst. I tried them all myself, excellent quality. Looking forward to bbq season so that I can try the Thuringia and Nuremberg brats (Thueringer und Nuernberger Rostbratwurst) and others. Sausages are made on premise. Also available German ketchup (Curry mild/hot), Knorr Currywurst Sauce, German mustards etc. Can't wait to try liver sausage and Blutwurst. I highly recommend this place!

Highly recommend this family owned and run local deli. Shopping made easy as Sandra Till runs front of house with cheerful, friendly service. She knows her regulars by name and what they like. Stephen Till, award winning sausage maker, makes most products, with high quality no filler ingredients. If you have food allergies/sensitivities shop here. Too many favourites to list all: brats(various varieties), thueringer, homemade deli meats, french pork, garlic sausage, pepperoni, liverwurst are a few. Homemade sauerkraut with bits of sausage is yummy. Many items brought in: Grimms, breads and many canned/jar items from Germany. They bring in limited supply for Christmas such as Glühwein, german gingerbread cookies, etc. Buy early as goes fast. Located in a small strip mall with lots of parking. Update (Dec 2021)- For an easy, relaxed Xmas Day lunch we pre-ordered a sandwich/bun and charcuterie tray. As usual, owner Sandra did not disappoint. Everything was awesome and we’ll be enjoying it for a few days. Also pre-ordered rouladen cut (raw) beef to make a special dinner. Note: only available at Xmas.
