Excellent, friendly service. All the various meats I have tried have been excellent. They make great sausages - especially the lamb. I’m hooked on their jerky. Besides all that they have a small selection of things like rubs and often have a few choices of potatoes, carrots etc. So you don’t have to schlep over to another market to get the rest of your meal. Can I give 6 stars?

It's not just about the meat. It's about the humane way the rapport exists between people. It's the friendliness, the genuine caring, the respect given and received. It's about the warmth of the place, the ambiance, the little added touches. And, of course, the meat. Quality and freshness remain the key issues. You cannot get it any where else. It's better if you phone or email ahead but no matter I've never been turned away.

I am absolutely thrilled that I found M&B. I've been going here for months now and it's my favourite butcher shop in Ottawa. Phenomenal product, excellent service, and if they don't have the cut you want in the case, they'll cut it fresh for you in the back. The dry age flavour of this location is quite delicious, and everything I've had here has been amazing. Try out their beef, obviously because it's amazing, but try out the cold-smoked chicken! Quite salty but very good! And the beef jerky. Oh my god the beef jerky!!!!!❤️

If you are like me, a shopper concerned with where my food comes from, then you can rest assured that M&B is the place for you to buy your meat. I recently contacted several shops in the Ottawa area, looking for information on where they source their meat from. Out of all of them, M&B is the definitive leader of shops that care about the lives of the animals they source. When I contacted them with questions about their product, I received an e-mail full of information on their suppliers, as well as links to the suppliers' websites. Not only does M&B choose to source their meat from farmers who take pride in the well-being of their animals, they also use heritage breeds that are not commonly found in grocery stores and butcher shops. After shopping at M&B for a few weeks now, I can't see myself buying meat from anywhere else. I don't eat meat everyday, so I can afford to spend a few dollars more on a product that I know is well raised and is noticeably better tasting than what I have found anywhere else in town.

A quaint, but beautiful little butcher shop with a variety of products to offer. I was surprised to see the fungi collection in the shop! It was a variety pack ranging from $9-10 and it’s great if you wanted to try lions mane.

The guys are nice, helpful and they seem to love what they do. They know where their meat comes from (ON farms) and that is reassuring. Your meat wont be as marbled as waguyu meat or anything, but that is because the animals are healthy, and you can taste it in the savoriness of the meat. I live across town now, but I still consider it worth the treck! Keep it up guys!

Let me start by saying the name of this Butchery is exactly what you can expect - "A Fine Butchery"! Easily located in the welcoming neighborhood of Beechwood, as soon as you walk through the front door you can feel the sense of "local pride" that is encompassed by the staff and all the products that they carry.The front of the shop provides customers with ideas for their kitchen/BBQ needs, whether it be tools to cook with, or products to enhance the flavor of their meals. The back of the shop, which is my favorite part of this place, is where you are greeted by Flat Cap and Apron clad butchers. You can see the love that the staff have for their work through their excitement as they talk to you about their recommendations, new products, or even what the best type of cut you should get for the meat you are purchasing. It always helps that there is usually some tasty samples on-hand too! With Muckleston & Brockwell, or M&B for short, being a Local Butchery, it is amazing to know that M&B stresses the importance of sourcing not only local products, but also that they deal only with vendors that care about the people that consume their products. While I live in Aylmer, QC, I do not hesitate to make the short trip to Beechwood to visit my "Local" Butchery and always get exactly what I am looking for without fail!

Muckleston & Brockwell is my kind of store. It's a modern butchery with an old-fashioned touch of excellence. A relaxed atmosphere & vast selection of goods made me want to stick around & browse for a while. Their friendly, knowledgeable staff compliment the business well & seem like the type of folk you'd want to hang out with at a backyard BBQ. I tried several cuts of their steaks & all were outstanding. The handcrafted hot sauces by Andy The Butcher are top of the line in terms of taste & quality - award winners in my opinion. Do yourself a favor & check this place out.

Our experience with this shop was above and beyond excellent, and their other products were also A+ , from the beef jerky that reminded us of home, to the smoked bacon seas salt we were given as a birthday gift that made the steaks next level amazing. Love this place. From the moment you walk in you can feel the rustic charm. The staff are friendly, helpful and all very heart centred. I went in there the other day and I needed some help making a beef broth. Sophia took the time to graciously answer all of my questions and advise me on what to do. Andy went into the back and grabbed some fresh bone marrow. A day later I came back for the beef for the stew (since I had now made the broth). After two days of prep and cook time it was hands down the best stew I have ever made. The service, attention to detail, and quality of product is something that beechwood strongly deserves. If you haven't been you gotta go.

This is a simply amazing find! The owners are wonderful--warm, welcoming, and, quite sinply, good neighbours! The range of products is impressive as well. The bone broth is a must-try. The shop attracts people from across Ottawa, which attests to its reputation. It is situated in a house in Beechwood Village, filled with old world charm.

This is my family's go-to butcher. The staff are knowledgeable, making sure you get exactly what you want (i.e. meat wrapped in paper or vacuum sealed, depending on your needs, more or less fat on the meat, etc.). The meat and eggs are very high quality, delicious, local, and from humanely raised animals. The prices are quite reasonable and the store itself is charming. Although I'm writing this review for the family, there are 5 people and two dogs who highly recommend Muckleston & Brockwell.

Best of them all! Very friendly and informative staff that's more than willing to help you and answer any questions you may have. All local meats and they know the people who are involved in the care of the animals. The pork is from Heritage meats and the Black Pig is featured. It comes from Manotick and is raised naturally and humanely by a local farmer who cares about her animals. No antibiotics or growth hormones used. The butcher shop is very clean and well stocked. Simply a great place to purchase the best meat in Ottawa.

Top notch meat from local supplier. I have been an enchanted customer for months. Back in Belgium , local love “filet americain”, it is a serving of fresh raw grounded meat with spice and sauce. That dish required only use of unfrozen ultra-fresh meat, well Andy has always delivered the most exquisite meat for me. Same goes for fresh turkey ,Ham or roast. Just ask what you are looking for, they will find it. Try also the home made Jerky meat... Try and enjoy if you want top notch meat here in Ottawa.Finally the service is outstanding.

I want to start by saying "they don't make them like this anymore". I called around town looking for information and inventory of Skirt steak for my fajita night with friends. After trying ten different spots in town I came across M&B. Not only did they have plenty of what I was looking for when everyone else was limited or out, the knowledge was awesome and helpful in making my final selection. Steak was amazing, service was reminiscent of a local butcher that everybody knows by name with a great little shop and top quality products. I would recommend these guys to everyone and if you are making Beef Fajitas, their product will blow your mind.

Just back from a 5 day canoe trip. We took along a packet of beef jerky prepared by M & B. What an inspired idea! Tastiest, lightest camping / packing food ever, it is super delicious, a whole lot of goodness in a very small package, nothing but the best beef seasoned dried and vacuum packed. I've been shopping at M & H for a while now and I've always been happy with the quality and expertise. Yesterday I asked them to make a bunch of all-beef patties for me from medium ground chuck for a large get together I was having. I seasoned them with salt and pepper before throwing them on the grill. Everyone was astonished at how flavourful and juicy they were and I'm positive that despite my previous burger-making efforts that they were the best burgers I've ever cooked. I highly recommend these guys.

***I want to disclose upfront that I am in a buyer/seller relationship with this business as I produce 2 items that are sold in the store.*** I remember stumbling into this store in its first year of operation and being pleasantly surprised. As someone who goes out of their way to support local I was glad to see this new business in the area. Fast forward a couple years and a couple purchases later (including a whole 135lb pig which I roasted this summer for an event) I have found the products but more importantly the service to be top notch. With Andrew's advice I took on roasting a whole pig which he dutifully prepared on the spit and rubbed making it available the morning of for pickup long before the shop even opened. I have found the knowledge and the service to be the perfect compliment to the top notch products on offer. As I disclosed up top, I have seen first hand the extreme lengths Andrew (the owner) personally goes though in selecting the products he carries. ALWAYS sourcing local FIRST and unwavering in his determination to find only the best meats to showcase. I have seen countless customers (much like myself) come in in search of quality cuts and sage advice for which Andrew has always answered the call. A humble family business, with a intimate personal feel, I have personally seen the business grow and remain true to its vision of a quality butchery. In a world where integrity often falls to the wayside for volume and profits I have seen a hard working business man carve out a niche, put quality first and supporting those who work hard to produce the products he sells. I heard about this place awhile ago but always hesitated to go because of how far it was for me. How I regret not coming here earlier. A few weeks ago my cousin brought me back a few ribeye steaks after he had went with his family. I cooked one up the same day and it was one of the best steaks I've had in years, which is insane considering how affordable and high quality they are. You can really tell when a business is passionate about what they do because it shows in their work. I've gone once myself now for more and I have been enjoying every last bite of what I have. I also emailed asking a few questions and I got a great detailed response the same day. Very professional and I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. I will be coming back for sure.
