This company does not have any standards. The moose meat I picked up on September 27, 2018 is full of moose hair, gristle, veins and plant debris from the field. The vacuum sealing and labeling is very good, but everything else sucks! They are too lazy to clean up the meat and be professional butchers. I recommend that you take you meat anywhere else but here. No one wants their meat full of plant debris, moose hair, silver skin and gristle. Charge more and do it correctly, I am extremely disappointed. The trip of a lifetime was partially ruined by a bad butcher.

I had four quarters of moose meat done here in October 2020 , EXCELLENT job! All of the packaging was great and the sausages were the BEST I’ve ever tasted. I will be being all of my meat here in the future.

Thanks to Brad and the staff at Countryside. Very professional and courteous service. Really great set up for dropping off moose. I requested the vacuum seal option for my moose and I am very impressed with the quality and clean end product. These people really have it figured out. Here’s to big game on the table!!

We tried to be as clean as possible in the field with our meat, we used tarps to lay the quarters on to debone the meat, transported it in bags, and were as neat as possible... That being said, we did get some hair and vegetation on the meat, which is not unheard of in the backcountry of Newfoundland. I cannot voice my disappointment as thaw and eat my moose that I killed this fall... Every package has hair in it, some have vegetation, and none of the meat was trimmed at all. I specified that I wanted 1 pound packages of burger and I received 3-5 pound packages of burger... It is not that hard to follow those directions... My steaks were cut as I specified on the cut sheet, and my roasts were also cut correctly... neither the steaks or roasts were trimmed at all!!!! The burger has a lot of gristle, veins, silver skin, and other undesirable pieces in it... We had very limited options where to get our animals processed while in Newfoundland, If i had it to do all over with again, i would have tried to process the meat in camp myself and stored it in coolers for the trip home... Country Side Abattoirs almost ruined my meat!!!!! Also, if you are forced to use this business, make sure you have Canadian cash as they do not do credit/debit payments and they will charge you dollar for dollar no matter the exchange rate. I also feel that I got shorted on my backstraps but there is nothing i can do about that now. I did appreciate the packaging as they label every cut, and they use quality Vacuum Seal bags to package the meat.

I have used a lot of butchers all over Canada and the US. This is hands down the worst job I have seen. I shot a young bull moose. I got three types of sausage made. Two are without taste. One is OK at best. All three and the ground meat are FULL of chewy grissle, bone, hooves, whatever. Constantly spitting something out. Roasts and steaks are not trimmed at all. Full of silver skin, hair and dirt. My dogs are currently enjoying my moose. Total shame that the animal died for this....

Poor service. They packed my moose in 4 pound packages. I asked for 1 pound packages. Also ground all the fat and gristle up with the burger meat.

Our meat was vacuum sealed with maggots, flies, grass and hair. This moose was to feed my family. Had to trash the meat and pretty much was told by the owner that this is how they cut meat! Disgusting and sad. What a waste of food, my money and my time! I could have cut the meat but it has been a good but hard hunt and thought this would be better. Wrong!!!!! Do Not Go Here!!!!!!

Been hunting for over 30 years. Worst meat cutting job I've ever seen. Very poor uneven cuts. Packaging was horrible. Blood all soaking through the paper. Had to repack when I get home. When my regular butcher is available I will have it all ground.

My husband shot a moose and it was taken by the guide service to be butchered at Country Side. Upon getting home and opening the packages of steaks we found most were not cut properly, nearly all of the steaks were of uneven thickness, not trimmed of silverskin, poor knife cuts had shredded many of the best cuts (backstraps and tenderloins). The moose deserved better and so did we for the professional prices they charged. There is NO EXCUSE for this kind of butchery and butcher they did. DO NOT LET YOUR MOOSE END UP HERE!
