Best butcher in town!!!
Unbeatable! I came in looking for organic fresh meat, as a rancher's daughter, I grew up spoiled and the grocery store meat doesn't cut it. And I was so pleasantly surprised, you can tell they put care in their product and butcher in house, fresh and delish. So nice, also have an awesome selection of bone broth, ghee, dairy products and the like. Will be a repeat customer.
I stopped eating grocery store meat. This place will change the way you think about meat.
Pricey, but good cuts of meat and some truly amazing sausages.
Really caring staff, even in the midst of the pandemic, and a long line.
Great sammies
Great local butcher shop with amazing customer service! Grass fed, humanely raised meat and some other grocery options. Two thumbs up!
RibEye Roast "5lbs" and the Belly! Great service even greater product! 1st time here and will definitely return. Treated very well here. Thanks
Great option for grass fed and/or dry aged beef. The butchers were super helpful and introduced me to some fat they make in house to finish the two Ribeyes I bought.
Outstanding customer service! Delicious meats! And a great assortment of local tasty treats
I love this small volume, smart and dynamic butcher shop. I visit this place every time I come into town so I can cook for my family. The staff is fantastic and the owners are great. I wish all butcher shops were as knowledgeable and willing to help with cooking prep and ideas. Also I love the mindset of local, sustainable, healthy animal care and meat production.
I go here when I am trying to perfect a recipe and need meat that is impeccable.
Excellent selection of meat including beef, pork, chicken, sausage, and charcuterie. Really helpful staff!
Absolutely the best customer service and the best meat money can buy. Their ethics are bar none. I have been shopping here for three years, and have never been met with more patience and knowledge in a specialty shop. I come with questions, every time. Tell me about the farm, the animals, your processes, how do I prepare this?? What do you recommend to cook as a side? Everything. They respond with all the answers and then some. They always have. As an ethical vegetarian with a carnivorous partner, I won't shop anywhere else.
Usually I can find exactly what I need here and I'm a huge fan of their mission. They also have great customer service and are approachable
Great service. Great quality products.
My wife got me 5 pounds of beef plate ribs for my birthday. She is vegan and told the person working the counter that she didn't really know what she was looking for and they helped her out. When I opened the package to start smoking, I noticed that there was a lot of fat and not much meat on the ribs. I trimmed a little bit of the fat off, but didn't want to trim too much as there wasn't much underneath. After cooking and cutting, I realized the ribs were approximately 70% fat. After eating the rib with the most meat on it, I weighed the meat from the rest of the ribs and it came out to 333 grams. Being very generous, I'll say the first rib had 300 grams of meat on it. That totals to about 1.4 pounds. I'd like to give the benefit of the doubt, but it is very disappointing to pay $80 for beef ribs and only get 1.4 pounds of meat. I can't help but feel that my wife was given the portion with barely any meat on it because she doesn't eat meat and didn't know what to look for. EDIT: They have reached out and made things right. Great customer service.
Good meat. Simple store. Prices don't seem as high as Marczyk. Very convenient, and they have lard bars.
Definitely a good place for steaks and smaller cuts of meat, but I wouldn't go here for anything big. I purchased a brisket here and it was the leanest brisket I've ever seen which led to the most dry brisket I've ever cooked. The meat had no fat and looked like tenderloin instead of brisket. Also it was like a $260 brisket when it should be priced around $60. Overall a pretty disappointing experience in terms of that piece of meat
We were in need of a last minute prime rib for a family BBQ last weekend. They did not have the meat were looking for initially, but after a few phones calls, they were able to make it work. They were very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. They even recommended another butcher shop in town at first when they thought they couldn't help us. Once I learned of their story using the whole animal, buying from local sources, and striving for humane and sustainable sources, I was hooked. We will definitely be back!
Far and away the best butcher I have ever been to. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff, happy to chat about any questions that you have and provide tips with what you are attempting to do. Whether it has been direction on curing a coppa (only place I could find that even knew what that was) for my curing chamber, or different methods of making liver pate, they are happy to help. Couldn't recommend more. It may cost a few dollars more than the meat at the local grocery, but on par with Whole Foods, and such a better product and experience, I would never consider getting a good piece of meat anywhere else.
Fun selection, great products, helpful people and you can tell they actually care!
Amazing grassfed and pastured local meats and produce. Great staff and customer service.
Don’t waste you time coming here chances are they will be closed by the time you get here.
Bought a nice dry aged ribeye from them, it went bad (visible mold, bad smell) before the sell-by date printed on the sticker. $46 and an animal's death wasted.
Last minute standing rib roast request honored with outstanding service. Thanks!
Organic? Safe? Grass fed? Knowledgable? Yup, you get that here. Plus, it is nice to walk in the door only knowing how to cook one thing (um, a hamburger) and be able to chat across the counter with friendly staff who directed me to a recipe. Best. Meal. Ever. If you come here every week, after a year, you 'll be a gourmet chef able to cook anything. I should know, I can cook five things now (including a skirt steak with lemon grass from the spice store down the hill).
Super low quality meat with conceded service, will be skipping in future. Been through several times. Spent over $500 last time, $300 of it being briskets lol which is absurd but brisket is chewy and was grey when we brought it home and hard around edges with blood clots in certain spots. Straight up garbage quality for the price they charge.
Friendly local butcher providing fantastic quality meats. Highly recommend.
Best quality beef you’ll get for your money. The staff is awesome. Get a cow share! It’s worth every penny.
Always worth the drive. The staff here is friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Meat is incredible and ethically sourced.
This is a beautiful shop staffed by incredibly knowledgeable people. Pleasure to visit. Real gem.
I visit regularly. Great butcher shop, friendly staff. Prices are higher, but quality is extraordinary.
I have only been a couple of times but already I love this butcher shop. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the meat is incredibly high quality. Also, the subscription boxes that they offer have very good value and are a good way to try different cuts of meat. I would 100% recommend this place if you are looking for a local, sustainably sourced butcher shop.
Best butcher around downtown. Great selection and great staff. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for.
They are very professional and their meat is amazing. Unfortunately my order was missing items but they quickly resolved the issue. I am definitely making them my source for meat.
Tired of being let down by costly steak houses, I finally purchased a proper grill and now I needed MEAT! First off the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Selection was just what I needed. I got the dry aged sirloin, NY Strip, and Rib eye. They cooked up to perfection and had that funk of the gods that makes men giddy. Each cut was outstanding but the sirloin was amaze-balls! I look forward to treating my self to a porter house next. Thanks ladies!
One of the first things I do when I visit a new place is find good food and drink to stock my place with. And, OH MY GOD, the brisket! I can't help myself... I'm here for 2 days and may have to go back. The service was great and selection was fun!
I ordered some meat for holiday meals here (pork belly and beef spare ribs). The meat was delicious and great quality. The location can get pretty busy, so be prepared to wait in line. The staff is super friendly, too! I wish I didn't live so far away, but I'll definitely make a point to come back. :) Thank you, Western Daughters!
The sausages were amazing and they had brisket prepared and they gave us great sized portions!
Ordered 4 lbs of lamb from here over Xmas and cooked it two ways — was absolutely incredible and their pre-order/pick up was flawless! It’s my new go-to.
Best butcher in town, and has a fun veggie section with exotic mushrooms, cheeses, etc.
The best place to get any type of meat in Denver from the highlands to cheeseman park. Awesome customer service plus a great selection of meats and other various things( veggies, drinks, seasoning spices, etc). Found my go to butcher for the future.
Excellent. My friend and I decided to stop in to pick up some meat to bring back to his house to grill. On the counter was a freshly cooked brisket, which we were invited to sample. Covered in salt, to push the fat back into the meat, the brisket was the most delicious brisket I have ever had. We abandoned our plans of getting meat to take back for grilling and bought a pound of the brisket. Great knowledge about locally raised meat, wonderful variety. A fantastic butcher shoppe!
Unfortunately didn’t catch their name, but came in around 4 pm today, person working the counter was super helpful. Asked what to sear, cut up, and serve to a group of 6, they suggested a lean cut of steak (merlot steak) I wouldn’t have initially tried, with advice on how to cook it and with accompanying products. After following their suggestions, it was incredible. Perfect portion size, excellent flavor, all around great stuff. Cannot wait to come back.
Fresh humanely raised meat, yes please! Definitely the best butcher in Denver - the people who work here are knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly helpful! Make sure to sign up for rewards and keep going back!
Truly one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had. I ordered a 12-15 pound turkey, 2 weeks in advance of Thanksgiving. The store waited until we picked up the bird 2 days before the holiday to let us discover on our own that they had sold us a smaller turkey than ordered. When I called to see about switching out for a larger turkey in order to feed our whole crowd, I was told “we got as close as we could and we’re totally sold out.” Western Daughter always has greats products and usually has exceptional service. I would not recommend ordering your thanksgiving turkey or other holiday meal though.
High quality butcher shop, only one I’ve found in denver with quality meats (grass fed and pasture raised). But not your typical grass fed beef, theirs is well marbled and great tasting! We bought a prime rib roast for Christmas Eve dinner and it was the best prime rib I’ve ever eaten ( sorry Shannahans and Guard and Grace)!
What a place extremely nice and outstanding selections
A bright star on a dreary apartment block. WD Butchers is a whole animal butchers who have Beef, Lamb, Chicken and Pork. Along side fresh loncally grown veg. And an amazing variety of sides, sauces and everything onw would need to cook the sh!t out of on of their 30day dry aged steaks. House made chicken broth. Bone marrow shaped into Star Wars characters. This little gem is big in sales but small in size. Only two meat heads can be in the shop at one time but trust me. Its worth the wait. 5 stars for class. Selection and the coolest employees in the Highlands.
Amazing ribs!! Great food
I love sausage. These sausages are just the best sausages! Shoutout to Griffin and the rest of the staff for being a bunch of bouncy bundles of beautiful butchers! I'll be back for more of your meat.
I've been going here for years now and the customer service never changes. The staff is knowledgeable about their product and are patient to answer questions. Fantastic product, I've never been disappointed. It's hard to walk out with only one item. Go here, it's everything you'll love about meat.
great
Best pork I've ever had
Best butcher shop in Denver. Super friendly folks and amazing meats and products. Helped me pick out some 60 day (!!!!) dry aged steak, some beautifully marbles Denver steaks, and a sweet Finex Cast Iron Skillet. If you’re looking for quality meats, this is your place.
Apart the exceptional quality of their product (both agriculturally and ethically) it is rare to have as consistent, knowledgeable and friendly customer assistance as you get with Griffin and David. Two amazing gentlemen who love what they do, working for an amazing company. Bravo.
I was gifted a dry aged bone in New York strip and this may have been the best home cooked steak I've ever eaten. The steak was like butter and just melted in my mouth, I was floored by the fact that I was able to cook that with my kitchen set! Thank you all for making such a superior steak and I'm excited to expand my cooking skills!
Great butcher shop , highly recommended. Visited them today for the first time. Lots of high quality cuts. Got myself some ground beef with bacon and duck eggs for burgers and tasted amazing. Thank you very much.
Amazing spot with great dry aged steaks :)
This is a small shop but with great resources. Prices are high compared with an ordinary grocery store, but the products are top quality. Customer service is outstanding.
if you want to pay $175 for a leg of lamb, and have the lamb be very happy, having been raised in a pasture with soothing music and eating nothing but the prime cuts of grass, and be lulled to sleep by nursery rhymes before it is bonked, have at it. Yes, kidding. However that's the impression I get from this and others catering to millennials who profess poverty yet are somehow able to afford cuts like this, and who detest store-bought that is probably three times cheaper at nearby Edwards. This place, while good, is waayyyy overpriced for the value. But, hipsters rejoice, this is your place!
My whole hearted recommendation goes to Western Daughters Butcher Shoppe! We came from the ranch and found a place that keeps it real.... real meat... real talk, no bs... no up selling... just real people selling quality products.
Super duper friendly staff. We walked in and the guy behind the counter explained their sourcing. We are just in Denver for visit and wanted to see what they offered. We walked out with some delicious pork ribs to eat on our walk. I’d like to call this a pork-cicle. Thanks again.
First time here. Pleasant and knowledgeable staff. Pretty good selection of meats with a variety of spices, produce, etc. Love the atmosphere. The 30 day dry-aged strip steak I got was delicious.
Very pleasant experience today. A female butcher offering great customer service. She may have been an owner. She seemed quite empowered, relaxed and friendly. I haven't been here in years before today because the service was sometimes very unpleasant, butchers expecting tips, a ring super cool and being pissed if they did not get tips, rather than focusing on customer service. Prices are quite high, but the product is usually very good (except for some dried out ground beef I paid a lot for a few years ago, around the time I stopped coming in) and I didn't want to make the effort to complain and return it.) Glad I came in today just for the good experience in my neighborhood.
AMAZING!! Super knowledgeable staff, Cora was so helpful and kind. Super high quality meats of all types and cuts, super fresh. Had the dry aged ribeye and it was so good! Also got pork chops another time and another 10/10. Highly recommend !!!
Akin to the best drug-dealer you can have, quality products, no one is adding terrible things to it, and discounts and freebies you didnt even ask for. I'm addicted.
Always an awesome place to get the best meats
Amazing quality selections across the board, the only negative is that you will never want to go out to dinner again when you realize that you can have way way higher quality from this butcher if you simply cook it yourself :)
Awesome staff, awesome product and a true nod to integrity here. Prepared brisket I had tonight was out of this world delicious. Have nothing but nice things to say.
very beautiful products. well done. I will come back.
Fantastic whole animal butcher. All.cuts we've tried taste so flavorful and so so different from grocery store meats. The poultry, too! Great staff, fun pantry extras in the shop, and have been savvy and smart through the pandemic. We've been shopping here for four+ years and have had nothing but positive experiences.
Awesome everything. Knowledgeable and helpful butchers always on staff.
Best steak we have ever had! We learned about dry aged steak from the helpful counter employees. We grilled it very simply tonight with salt and pepper and it was amazing! We will be back.
This has got to be the most hipster butcher shop on earth but if you don't mind paying for expensive sausages they are worth it. I've been in here about 5 times and everything we've gotten has tasted fantastic. The sausages don't seem to have much binder in them so they kind of fall apart when you cut through the skin after cooking, it's an interesting and different texture that encourages you to taste every morsel of meat. I also got pork belly from them once and they offered to slash the skin so it crisped up nicely in the oven. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Great local butcher shop. Awesome selection of quality meats. The guys behind the counter were super helpful. I’ll definitely be coming back.
Great place for aged beef and other meats. Slightly disappointed they didn't have beef cheeks or take a special order for it considering it was recommended by well hmm.... we'll just say a Chef friend of mine. The dry aged rib eye however did make up for it!
Thank you so much, the ribs came out perfect.
Knowledgeable employees and quality meats make this place worth visiting. It's conveniently located on Tejon and it's a frequent by residents who don't have a quality grocery store near by.
It was my first time in the shop today and got a steak on the house with my burger purchase! It was a great surprise! These guys rock!
First time in, I was treated very well by their professional and amicable crew. Enjoyed the selection, found the basics I needed and eyed some treats for later. Totally worth it.
We bought New York strip steaks yesterday, but they were very tough. I know grass fed beef is leaner, but these steaks were tough to chew. Not worth the money.
The quality of meat here are so good and it is so affordable
The meat was excellent and its so fresh the price were so affordable
High quality local meat. If you care where your food comes from this is the place to go. Small selection of produce and other local goods too.
From the moment I walked in, I was impressed. They have really fresh meat and the pork sirloin on the cutting board smelled and tasted heavenly. Had an amazing sandwich. Chatted with one of the staff for a while and learned a lot. Amazing knowledge and willing to share. Wish it wasn't so far from home! Will definitely return.
Each time I've been here the butcher has been really great at helping me pick out the right cut and giving me tips on how to cook it how I want it. The meat is excellent! Its very nice and clean in the shop, too.
This place has phenomenal locally sourced, pastured meats. It's my favorite butcher ever. The service and knowledge of the staff is also exceptional.
If you’re posted hours open until 7, don’t close at 6:30. Lame
I’m not really a big reviewer but I came to this place because of their grass fed cuts. I got one of the worse filets I’ve ever had. I can appreciate that this happens sometimes but it just stands out in my mind due to its insanely high costs. Maybe costs should fluctuate on quality because I even suggested that it didn’t look the best but they assured me that it would be amazing. It was a nice place and I’m sure the meat is good sometimes. But can’t figure out how they justify such high costs.
First time shopper at Western Daughters - 10/10 experience. I was recommended this butcher by a friend of mine and thought to check it out. Whilst it's a bit pricier than your supermarket, the quality here is outstanding! Everything I bought was super fresh (Bacon, Chicken, Cold Cuts of meat, sausages) so definitely will come back for a special occasion.
New to the area, decided to try a new shop. Very uneven sizes, very fatty, priced extremely high. Very unappealing shop setup.
Probably the best butcher I've found in Denver. Everyone was nice, inside was very pleasant, managed to pick up some Texas Dinosaur (true plate) ribs - real hard to find.
What a gem! The butchers gave me so much information and we're extremely helpful and nice. The selection and quality is amazing!! Support your local shop and give this unique place a shot!
Awesome! Super helpful staff, great prices. Shop local!
Such an amazing shop! They always take great care of us and are super knowledgeable. Plus they have a killer selection and usually have all the veggies we need for our whole meal.
Absolutely great products for people looking for grass fed meats. Fantastic service. Love this place!!
Best quality meat you can get on the front range. Grass fed, grass finished, pasture raised entire life, humane, and fresh. The staff is very helpful and polite. Store is clean and professional . You can taste and feel the quality of this meat and they always have a fantastic variety of cuts. Thanks for blessing metro Denver with this butcher shop. One love
Unique concept. Lovely space. Knowledgable staff. Outstanding products and quality. The smoked brisket and bone broths are CANDY! Wish that you were closer for my special items. $$$$
Great selection, great service!
Very helpful and friendly. Took the time to explain the anatomy of a cow and guide me on what type of cut I would need to dry age a strip loin, walked me through the options. They also supply really great quality local produce and eggs.
Keep dry-aged steaks in stock. Also, your meat has an old appearance.
I was on a roadtrip to Denver when I stumbled into this little slice of keto heaven. The selection is quite good. I happily bought a pound of ground beef and bacon with 10 Star Wars shaped beef fat pads (dont know if theres a technical term for those. Doesnt matter; theyre Star Wars.) Fast forward 2 days and 1000 miles. First thing in the door I throw a Yoda cube into the trusty cast iron and cook up a 1/2 pound. Incredible. The fat melted instantly and kept a high heat while absorbing nicely into the meat. And the meat... the balance of bacon to some amazing beef was perfect. Flavors complimented and collaborated while still finding the space to stand apart. It left me satiated and a little stunned. Denverites, you have to suffer the many indignities of a mega city but at least you have Western Daughters. Count yourself lucky.
Great spot. Went in for my first time and they have a remarkable array of meats. Awesome staff, worth asking them about the company, they’re very passionate. Will definitely be coming back!
Western Daughters chicken is fantastic. It's tender, fresh, and flavorful. And the butchers are so nice, they make my cooking so easy by chopping or butterflying the chicken and it’s ready when I get there. I’m so happy they’re in our neighborhood!
Great meats!
The local butcher shop is a lost gem in virtually every neighborhood, but Western Daughters shines today. We've gotten beef, pork, chicken, bratwurst, breakfast sausages, vegetables, and soups--all of which were delicious. The chicken though...the chicken is otherworldly! We regularly get a number of pieces and are blown away every time by how tender and delicious they are. We'll definitely be back and recommend you go to support a local place while getting some great cuts.
Amazing high quality meats- don’t go on a sunday... most things are sold by then. They’re sausages are absolutely amazing and they also sell ground beef with blended organ meat... a terrific way to get a nutrient dense meat without really tasting the organs!
This place is awesome- Great customer service and the quality of beef is unmatched. I will be back again!!
Awesome place with great quality meats and other products and service second to none!
Always the best!
Just moved to the area and happy to have this place around the block. Their sausages weren't to our taste and the cuts are pricey, but my wife and I are convinced that their steaks (we've had 3 different cuts so far) are the best steaks we've ever eaten. Color is spot on, tender, juicy....olive oil, salt, pepper, grill. Can't wait to try more!
We purchased several items from this shop and when we were cooking the ground beef, it had a horrible odor to it that smelled like burnt human flesh. Will never go back there again.
Very stuck up people with a minimal selection at way too high of prices. Just because they’re in “highlands”. Get the F off your high horse.
Rude and expensive. Sandwiches used to be good but they quit doing those. Prob because they couldn't get enough suckers to pay $10 for them anymore.
love this spot unfort i keep showing up and leaving because i dont want to wait outside for 20 minutes while lohi karen picks out drumsticks.... PLEASE FIX THIS GUYS I WANT UR MEAT
Best butcher shop I've ever had the pleasure to frequent!
If I lived in the neighborhood I would probably go here occasionally for convenience. It is not worth going out of your way for. If you're young or new to going to a butcher or think Whole Foods is amazing then you'll like it. If you've lived in a city that has multiple butchers that compete and need to excel, this place will be a disappointment. If yer gonna drive to go to a butcher go to Edwards or Oliver's in that order. They carry enough stock to do what a butcher should be able to - cut to order.
Great shop for high quality meat
This place is great, because of the way that it is.
Great meats and excellent customer service. Very creative!
Griffin was delightful. His knowledge about the location of the farms was extensive. The location is adorable. Best of all, the meat is unparalleled. Top notch spot - you get what you pay for!
Great place, nice staff, good selection!!
The quality of meat here was so great and the staff was so accommodating, Its really nice
Awesome place
Everything I’ve bought from here has always been very tasty. The staff are friendly and help me, a newer meat eater, pick the right cut and amount when cooking for groups of people. This is one of the only places I’ll buy meat from because of their ethics around how/where the animal was raised and their dedication to using all parts of the animal. I also appreciate their loyalty to customer satisfaction and their welcoming environment.
Best prime rib ever. Dry aged is the way. Staff was very patient and knowledgeable.
The best meats and service possible!
