I’ve only been to this location twice. They have a temperature check at the front door asking customers to use prior to moving further into the store. However, today I observed two employees not following COVID protocol. One wasn’t wearing a mask or face shield and not practicing social distancing with her colleagues and the other was in the back cutting and applying rub to meats while his mask hung off his ear. Several employees and managers walked back and saw that but failed to correct him, allowing him to continue handling meat unmasked just like the female employee. I won’t be returning to this location. I thought it would be a new place to try as my usual butcher is out in Pickering but I’m willing to make the extra distance for a business that takes covid seriously.

The retail outlet is NOT worth your time. The prices are the same or higher than in a store so they try to convince you that it's because of the aging difference. Compared prices to other butchers like them who also age their meats, I still can get a better deal. Also, they only take cash and no receipt will be provided....the government must love these guys.

great butcher, staff & quality! I'd like to update my review, we're the couple who didn't wear a mask. You know, exemptions are allowed and part of the by-law. Thank you to the butcher shop to know not to harass customers with exemptions! .. besides, do people not understand that masks do not work and that the virus is 5000 times smaller than the holes in most masks? - not to mention that masks stop one from breathing clean air, the mask makes you breathe in bacteria, moulds, carbon dioxide and fibers of the masks which weakens your immune system. We've done our research. Thank you.

I run a small BBQ side business and I used to order from these guys a lot; they were the only people I would go to to get briskets for my business. However this is now the second time in a row that my order has been so late that I cannot sell the food to customers. After calling them and receiving really poor customer service several times, my most recent call was to explain that I am buying from them for my business and that so many late orders are unacceptable. At the time, I had an order already being fulfilled with them and SURPRISE SURPRISE, it was being delivered late as well. After having a long conversation with customer service, they promised me my order (which was supposed to arrive Wednesday) would be late and delivered sometime on Friday. I stressed the importance of needing the briskets I orders as soon as possible on Friday because I have clients that ordered brisket for the Saturday, and they guaranteed they would have it for Friday. It's now 10:30pm on the Friday and no truck has shown up with my order, not so much as a phone call. I want to point out that even after calling to speak with customer service about several situations like this in the past, they clearly have no problem with poor service and none of their "promises" can be taken seriously. I am never EVER ordering from these guys again.

This butcher shop is impeccable. Huge selection including grass-fed options. It is pricey but rest assured the quality is definitely worth it. Don't forget to pick up some free range eggs along with your meat. I believe this used to be the shop at the Elaine plaza at Eglinton and Danforth relocated to here after that plaza closed. THE BEST butcher shop east of Yonge and maybe west of Yonge too.

I've come to this place for many years and the staff is always helpful and courteous. They are helpful and will answer any questions that you have when it come to the products. I will continue to go here, even during this pandemic. Oh and for those commenting on the female employee not wearing a face mask or shield. FYI she has a medical mask exemption and was allowed by the owners not to wear one. TOO BAD if you're offended by that.

This is an absolutely FANTASTIC butcher shop. The selection and meat quality is top-notch. However, I've been EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE STAFF'S COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS. 1) None of the staff are wearing masks 2) None of the staff are respecting physical distancing among themselves. I saw one staff member come within inches of another staff member while restocking a chicken tray. 3) No hand sanitizer clearly displayed and used by staff between serving customers. They do limit 5 customers within the store at a time and have markers on the floor to help customers do proper physical distancing, which is excellent, but the staff need to take proper COVID-19 safety measures as well. I used to love shopping at The Butcher Shop, but I will now BOYCOTT AND NO LONGER SUPPORT this store during the COVID-19 Pandemic UNTIL THEIR STAFF ADOPT PROPER COVID-19 SAFE MEASURES. TO THE BUTCHER SHOP - PLEASE DO BETTER!!!!

Absolute Garbage! As a consumer, its hard to tell when you are being scammed by the likes of this company. As a restauranteur, I highly do no recommend this supplier. The premise is dirty at the entrance while raw meat is exposed on the counters. Very unsanitary! I had previously worked with a sales rep named Andy and needed something last minute for a catering job. I mentioned that this was not the price that they gave me prior to this trip. I was willing to pay the difference BUT I wanted to choose my own duck legs. They needed to be a particular size and shape because my client was very picky. I told Chris, the person I dealt with, this was my requirements I am not a fool. I can tell which legs are new and old. There are even some not vacpacked properly and have air inside rotting. I showed him and he just put it back on the shelf hoping the next fool would buy it. He kept going on explaining that the sizes were all variant and there are no perfect and same ducks. I understand this, but as I said my client is very picky and I need them to be relatively the same size. Along comes a very rude guy named Allan telling me I am talking down to Chris. To be frank, I was not. I was just deflecting his remarks abot buying whatever comes in the boxes. I have every right to choose the products I buy. If they are not right, I DO NOT want them. He told me to leave and would not let me choose my duck legs. He said he did not care, I can go to Loblaws. Its fine, I like Woodwards better anyways. Their customer service is not atrocious and meat is SO much higher quality at lesser or comparable prices. You were just a closer drive and I wanted to give you a chance to be our supplier of 5 new restaurants to be opened soon. Thanks for letting me know exactly what kind of supplier you are. I can tell you from previous experience, they mix the meat when they deliver to restaurants after a few deliveries because some people cannot tell the grades. One time, I ordered Prime and got sent AA. For almost 3x the price, obviously I sent it back because I know how to tell the grades. Try another meat supplier, just not this one! If I could give you 0, I definitely would.

For my order, the delivery was excellent, on time, no rudeness or anything like the others mentions. The pichania I ordered on the other hand was low quality even though it was more expensive than the portuguese and Brazilian butcher shopes I go to. I've cooked enough pichania in my lifetime to know the difference. It was very tough, even when cut into steaks, some cooked rare and some medium rare. Sorry, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Excellent service, fantastic selection and an unparalleled supply of meat. Try and find another butcher in the city where you could order 25 briskets and they'd have them on a cart in 10 minutes? Good luck. Prices are higher for some cuts, however everything is fresh, no filler, and I'm sure they would take anything back if you had an issue. Fortunately after going there for 3 years I've never had to bring anything back.

This is my favourite place in Scarborough to buy fresh meat. I always know that I am going to get the best quality. Everyone is always helpful, and they are always willing to accomadate any special request. For instance, they have ready seasoned and breaded schnitzel prepared behind the counter. (Me being very particular on how I make my schnitzel) I always ask for tenderized pork schnitzel without the seasoning or breading - they are always happy to accomadate this request.

Make sure you save screenshots of item postings or potentially get ripped off. I purchased chicken strips from the Butcher Shoppe through Wagjag. Two of the three photos were the actual product (processed, re-formed chicken fingers). The third photo was of a completely different product (whole meat chicken strips). For that price ($15), I shouldn't be surprised with the product I got. The strips also had layers of ice on them. Picked these up in early February. Some sketchy food handling in the transport process, if it's defrosted and re-frozen in the freezing cold Toronto winter.

Great local family butcher with great food! Steaks are very high quality. Some find it pricey but this is what you pay for quality meat in my opinion. I've found slightly cheaper steaks at other butchers but no where near the quality. I've also tried the organic chickens. They're delicious and I found them to be very reasonably priced.

Went in to buy quite a bit. When a woman came to take our order she had no mask. My partner asked politely if she could wear a mask while picking our order, and the employees response could not have ruder. Quite aggressively, the employee retorted that she was exempt and said we could go speak to her manager. We just left. Noticed others mot following COVID-19 protocol after we were outside. My partner needs to be cautious as she is a frontline worker. This disrespectful exchange will ensure I never return.

The cashier even had a *medically exempt* button on their collar, sure don't wear a mask, but maybe don't be working with people's food during a pandemic. Called ahead to ask for their covid protocols for pick up and the lady over the phone was very rude and short, hanging up before I could finish my sentence. I've heard amazing things about this place and I look forward to them doing better in the future.

I was nervous about ordering such expensive pieces of wagyu beef online without being able to physically see the cut... but WOW did these guys ever turn up!!! Everything was vacuum wrapped and delivered (a couple hours late but I'll forgive it because I understand the father's day weekend order was busy!), and I'm almost certain they accidentally gave me an EXTRA PIECE OF WAGYU FOR FREE! I'm sure it was a mistake (missed-steak) and I don't have a kitchen scale but there were 3 cuts of wagyu and I only ordered 2 x 16-oz cuts. The meat was fantastic, enjoyable, memorable, VERY filling -- beware, don't eat as much as you would a regular steak! But if you're reading this and ready to order you probably already know that. I don't think I'll do wagyu again for a long tine but if I do, we're ordering from THE BUTCHER SHOPPE. AAA+++

Everytime I come here, I get greeted and treated very well. They make sure you walk out with exactly what you came for. We are so lucky to be able to purchase meats direct from a wholesaler that supplies fresh quality products to restaurants and retailers and in most cases next day door delivery transported in a company owned refrigerated truck. I recommend the sweet Italian sausages and the backs ribs ,the steaks are a bit pricey but crazy good. Everything else is priced very competitive and every single piece is vacuumed sealed ready for the freezer. I highly recommend that at least you try them once and you wont be disappointed we have been buying their meats since the 80's at their Toronto shop.

The problem I have with this place is, I ordered a big box of 10 ounce steaks, that are no thicker than the 4 ounce steaks. When cooking a 10 ounce steak, you expect it be thicker to allow time for proper cooking. Will never buy or recommend this place to friends again. When cooking a 10 ounce steak, you want it thick. These were far too thin to cook appropriately in my many years cooking steak.

Just received my second order from The Butcher Shoppe a day before my scheduled delivery. Upon opening the package I immediately noticed that one of my items was incorrect. I called their customer service to let them know about the day early delivery and wrong item. The staff member said they couldn't do anything about early delivery and would charge me the difference for the more expensive wrong item. Their products are good but their service clearly needs improvement. Disappointing second experience.

Went in this Easter weekend, and spent well over $200. Customer service for this place has gone down the tubes!!! Since I was purchasing a lot of products the girl had the audacity in trying to tell me that I should have had a list and trying to rush me as if I were the last customer before closing! I was there at 12:30 !!! It also got better , she kept repeating "anything else, anything else", anything else, like a broken record . And then got to the cashier who never said thank you, nor have a good day! I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!

This shop is better than most but not perfect for me. It has a very good selection of high quality meats. USDA Prime and Canada Prime steaks are not easy to find and they have them. The chicken is very good as well, some of the best thighs I've found. They grind their own sausage and have a number of tasty options. The 3 little pigs they make are my favorite breakfast sausage. The service is good, not great. The place is usually very busy so you are rushed at times, it doesn't bother me. Custom cuts and specialty orders have mostly been accommodated. I can't give 5 stars because the item I most want, full side ribs(spare ribs), are almost never stocked, only back ribs. Even when I tried to order them I was rebuffed. It is safe to say if you don't see it in the case it will not be easy to get. You pay a premium here but the quality of the meet is accordingly high. I only buy meats and don't buy the prepared food because it is especially high priced for some reason. I'm a local to the shop and have shopped here for about 5 years now.

I was so excited to try this place after reading all the good reviews only to discover that these people are horrible at communicating. I called yesterday 25 minutes before closing time and inquired about their short ribs and asked if they are able to cut them to my preference, at the end of the conversation I asked what time they close to make it known that I was on my way to purchase said short ribs. I get there 13 minutes to close and I was told that the machine to slice the ribs was being cleaned and told to come back the next day, after spending 20$ on an Uber to get there. Why wasn't I informed over the phone that the machine would be taken down early to be cleaned when i had just called? Could have saved me time and money. Secondly I was assured that the Korean style short ribs would definitely be available the next day and that if I came a few hours early before close I would be good to go. I was just about to order another Uber there for my second attempt when I decided to call first and was told that they are not available today. Thank God I didn't waste another 40$ on transportation for nothing. Please be more clear and informative with your customers!

Unbelievably delicious!! Best meat my family has ever had!! My son bought 2 large and 3 smaller Tomahawk steaks for his Dad's Birthday and we were blown away!! I was raised on a beef farm and I know meat and these guys do it better than anyone else. Since our butcher closed we have been struggling to find decent meat and haven't found anyone with the quality I insist on until the really nice delivery guys shown up with the meat from your store. From the moment we opened the box we knew it was going to be good. Wow had to post some pictures even though the pictures do not do it justice. I can't believe you deliver to Innisfil. Thank you for outstanding product and you have 5 new customers for life!!!

I've been coming to this butcher shop for over 20 years, and the meat and ownership have always been excellent. But they really need to fire Maria asap because her customer service is absolutely disgusting. She is extremely abrupt, rude to several people, and has a very bad attitude. I'm really surprised the owners want her representing their business with her serving their customers anymore. This is my first review, but I was in their shop and a very nice older lady was asking Maria about Thanksgiving turkeys, and Maria was being abrupt, and short with her, when the lady turned her back to leave, Maria said out loud to go f*** off ! Myself and a few other customers heard her and I have to admit that I was disgusted. I hope the owners read this because I don't think I want to come back to the shop even though their quality of meat is outstanding. Maria needs to find a new occupation because she used to be pleasant but clearly hates her job now !!!!!!!

I gave this place one star a year ago. Thought I'd give him another try. I got the Montreal marinated steak. It was so salty I couldn't eat it, I got the rosemary marinated chicken that I had to threw out after one bite. The texture was like an eraser.

The meats are great quality & the young lady helping me was really nice. Unfortunately, the older lady with the glasses was very unprofessional. She was on the phone with a client who was Chinese that struggled to speak English, she started pacing around the register & out of frustration, just hung up the phone, then complained to her colleague. It’s inappropriate to act like that in any setting, let alone around paying customers.

This shop has the best meat anywhere in a large area. If u want a bargain not the highest quality of meat then go to a grocery store. If u think the meat is overpriced, u don't don't know your meat value. If u don't see it ask for it and listen to the skill and knowledge of the butcher. If u want bread go to the bakery, don't moan about a baguette piece at a butcher shop! And have some fun with staff, if u think their rude then say so and enjoy the repartee, especially with miss M! Those who love their meat and are knowledgeable about quality and cuts , won't go anywhere else!! Hands down the best.

I was assured by the rep that i will get my products on Friday evening... By Friday i already lost on revenue!!!!! Normally I would give 5 stars but not today! I went about 1/2 hour before closing time and my purchases were shoved into a dirty used bag full of holes from another grocery store. I’m just fortunate that nothing fell out of the bag before I got home. This place charges enough for their products that they can certainly put the food into fresh clean bags. This was uncalled for.

Best butcher shop in Toronto. Shopping at this location and the old location for many years. I was quite upset this past Fri. Sept. 11/2020. Everyone in the shop had masks on, including counter staff except for one couple who did not wear masks. They talked with staff, even made jokes about mask wearing and were not told they had to wear a mask. The owner was also present. There should be a sign at the front door stating that you cannot enter without a mask. I am disappointed and hope this can be fixed before my next visit.

Went in with Mom after a high recommendation from a family member. Mom bought a roast they called "crock pot roast" we bought one also. Mom's went into her crockpot and our's into our crockpot. Seriously neither of us ever tasted a roast so tough. Our's ended up in the garbage with dinner plate portions scraped off the plate. Mom's went to feed the neighbourhood cats. Seriously the worst roast ever. The 2 stars given were totally for the friendly service given. Unfortunately friendly service does not help when you cannot eat the product. I have read the previous comments and I hope that the rest of their beautiful looking products measure up. The roasts certainly did not.

They told me that because it was more than 24 hours after the chicken was delivered they were unable to provide a credit or send me some chicken. my wife sent me here for a rump roast or the bottom roast for roast beef and I was given AAA Prime Rib. I asked for the correct item and explained to them what i was making. Shouldn't the "butchers"/staff members be trained on different cuts of meat, quality, and the common dishes they're used for considering you hold the item hostage until I pay for it? was super surprised to find this cut of meat in my bag when i got home. please train your staff

Very disappointed. This is our first try and I was hesitant to start off with but ok let’s give it a try. We ordered over $250 worth of meat to reduce the delivery of otherwise $25. The delivery was supposed to take place between 10-6 today but alas nothing… we had planned a birthday dinner taboo. No tracking, no contact details other than an e mail and no updates on delivery. We finally ended up speaking to someone after searching the internet for a contact number. Driver apparently was broken down and no idea when delivery could take place. We cancelled the order. We were looking forward to it but this was not a good experience. Strongly advise the store to sort out their delivery and provide tracking or updates to their clients.

First and last time ordering from this place. We see the truck all over Cambridge, we thought we would give them a try since they have different types of Wagyu. Placed the order August 5th to have the order delivered by August 7th. When the order arrived I opened the box to find only one of our three steaks for our Sunday dinner of guest coming in from out of town. I reached out via email and Instagram to get this rectified ASAP, we pushed our dinner to Monday. On Sunday, I received a message apologizing for the mistake and the two missing steaks would be delivered on Monday, my husband got a call immediately after I received the message and the lady told him the exact same thing. Monday, our guest came in from out of town.. no steaks AGAIN. I called messaged once again since the store closes at 4pm, nothing back. I call Tuesday morning (this morning) first thing, the lady was quite rude and then finally took my phone number and name and said she would look into and get right back to me. 12pm comes, no call so I call back. They have no record that anyone was looking into our missing order, so I explain the situation again. The best they can do is send them out for delivery tomorrow “free of charge”. First of all, if a customer has already paid for the product and the delivery charges.. it is NOT free of charge. Second of all, if you’ve already screwed up twice now some sort of compensation to the customer is in order. Absolutely ridiculous customer service and the order should have been sent out immediately when the first phone call this morning was placed. I will not be recommending this place of business at all, it has been a horrible experience.
