I really like McKinnon's. They have good meat and fresh produce for reasonable prices. They will also order things for you and have harder to find pieces like beef tongue, goat, rabbit, and intestine lining.

This meat market has been here for as long as can remember. It's now under a new management. And yes, there have been some changes, not necessarily bad. Most former employees are gone, so new people working there, means we new customers , not old ones. Now to quality of the meat, I have had a taste of just about everything they offer. My purchases include, Delmonico, family package of 2-3 , bag of chicken wings, bone in pork chops, family pack, ground beef, bag of about 3-4 lbs. Chicken bone in breast fam. . I would not be shopping here all these years if the quality was not good. Anyway except for the fact prices have risen like everything else the quality A. Price compared to other local chains B+ check it out. Let me know if you agree or not.????‍♂️

I travel from Quincy to McKinnons regularly. The prices for meats and fish are amazing. The deli is good as well. If you haven't tried their in house deli ham, you're missing out. But they do sell out quite often. Also, go to their website for coupons. The last one I used was for free chicken with a $25 purchase. They also have good parm cheese which is grated or you can buy the chunk to grate at home. Dont expect the produce to be cheap though. They have a limited selection of frozen veggies. Ive been shopping there for years and have never been disappointed.

I don’t know what’s wrong with this location but the deli department is terrible nobody is there when you ring the bell it takes a long time for them to come up and then they can’t help you don’t even bother trying to get an order delivered they are incompetent

I rate the meat a 5, but the blonde young lady at check out gets a measly 2. She rarely appears to care about the customers. I go out of my way now to use the other cashier if possible because she makes me feel like she wishes I would shop elsewhere. Maybe she's a member of the McKinnon family which allows her to keep her job despite her lack of customer service.

Being new to the somerville area, this place is a great to get some good quality meat, fish and shrimp. Its a small, quant place in davis square, with a small selection that always hits your grocery list right on the spot. The price is fair, not super cheap but great for the quality food there.

Local meat market - every cut imaginable of chicken, beef and pork, with frozen goat, lamb, and duck, an array of fish and seafood, cold cuts and deli items. Very affordable prices, chicken especially. There are a variety of vegetables - however few items last more than a couple days.

McKinnon's, you are wonderful (and will surely give me a heart attack before the age of 40). A butcher shop with every cut of meat imaginable and dirt cheap prices, McKinnon is the place to go if you want meat. Don't be sketched out by the fact they wrap every single food item in plastic wrap, just grab a mini shopping cart and go on your merry way. They also have some produce in the back if you want to have a slightly more balanced meal.

Friendly (for the most part) local place with great prices. Sure, it's not a full service supermarket, but they're affiliated with a restaurant supplier, so the fresh meat is properly, brought in every day, fresh, high quality and inexpensive. Go here before you go to the overpriced corporate grocery store across the street.

Great local "mom and pop" meat market. It feels like it's been there forever and has weathered the changes of the neighborhood. Awesome prices and large selection of meats. I was really impressed that instead of being pushed out by the big box BFresh grocery that moved in across the street, they complemented each other (be fresh doesn't offer the selection of meats that McKinnon's does). I wonder how that got negotiated? So, go on in and support our local markets!

I recently moved to Cambridge from Atlanta and was thrilled to find that there are local meat markets here. The prices at McKinnon's are incredible compared to Shaw's, where I had been shopping. Everything I bought there had been great until my last purchase. The date on the chicken I purchased was six days out (it could have been sitting in the cooler for six more days before they threw it out), but the meat smelled horrible when I opened it up. It was not worth cooking since it seemed like it was already bad. The smell towards the back of the store had always bothered me, but I chose to ignore it. Now, having purchased bad meat, it concerns me a bit more...

Get the marinated steak tips. They are amazing. The only reason I'm giving McKinnon's four stars, and not five, is the steaks labeled as porterhouse steaks were not porterhouse steaks - they were missing the filet mignon/tenderloin attached to the bone (or it was unbelievably small) opposite the strip steak.

This is hands-down the best place I have found for meat. They have a wide variety of options, and it's fun to look at the package of chicken gizzards. They also have a deli, veggies/fruits, and some other necessities for your marinated steak tips (recommend teriyaki) or marinated chicken (try the Jerk when it's not sold out). Thank you for doing curbside pickup so we could minimize our human interaction during these crazy times. You all rock.

Terribly disappointed. A friend recommend this place so I went with high expectations. I bought a bag of vacuum packed plain turkey tips for $7 (it was around ~$5/lb if I remembered it right). The meat was bad out of the box. The moment I ripped open the package I could smell the rotting. Other meat I bought that were not vacuum packed were fine though. Perhaps the heavy packaging of that turkey is just to hide the rotting content.

We showed up here the morning of our “Friendsgiving” because we had an icicle turkey at home and 7 people to feed in a few hours. Everyone working here was so nice trying to help us solve our turkey crisis and we ended up with some pre-cut fresh pieces of Turkey which worked out perfectly. The meat tasted great and the people working there were super friendly and helpful in trying to help us find what we needed!

Having a large scale Christmas Dinner I needed pork shoulder slice very thin for Tacos Al Pastor. I called a week ahead and was assured I could just walk in. I called 2 days before and was told to put my order in the day of "theyll take care of me no problem". I call 6 hours before put in my order and I'm told everything will be there at the counter. I walk in and am told they have no such order. They cant slice the pork for me and the smallest they had was 2 lbs more than I needed. The person helping me was generally unsympathetic and I was offered nothing to help. Reply: No I'm certain it was the right place. I opened my log and your employee confirmed the phone number matched the stores location. I asked if there was any way it could of been sliced, but apparently it was too late or he didn't feel like it. Pork shoulder is recommended for Al Pastor. Yes it is hard to cut which is why I called several times to ensure the butcher would help.

In addition, frozen squid rings were rarely seen in the supermarkets around, but they are sold here. There were also vegetables and fruits, and it was surprising to sell bean sprouts.
