It’s mainly because of the meats. We decided to buy all our meats for the winter season. So we purchased half of a hind quarter of beef and half a lamb. Very pleased, indeed. Perfectly cut, wrapped and labeled. We’ve sampled two cuts; a T-bone steak, inch and a half of heaven, and a lamb shoulder roast. Added a little mint sauce and treated our palates to a very savory dinner. We have finally found our source for superb meat cuts.

Wonderful butcher with a wide variety of cuts, gourmet sausages and freshly prepared meat dishes (i.e. skirt steak in chimichurri). Currently all sourced within BC according to the owner (Matt). Staff were friendly and helpful explaining the source of the meats and preparations. Purchased thick cut bacon, pork sausage mix, bratwursts, pork rillette and a leg of lamb. The lamb was some of the best I’ve had in a long time with a mild game flavor and perfect fat content. Will be back to try the steaks and some of the gorgeous looking pork rib chops. Would be happy to have this butcher anywhere, glad it’s available in Oliver!

The one thing I truly missed when I moved into this area from the city was the access to a top notch butchery. As a meat eater I take my relationship with a butcher very seriously! Lol. Matt and Ravina run a great shop, and it is always such a pleasure to deal with them. I am always greeted by name and they seem to truly appreciate my business. So great to see people take tremendous pride in their craft. Matt's attention to detail is well appreciated, and the flavour and quality of product is second to none. Into the bargain – all of this service and quality comes at a fair price! We are so fortunate to have Matt and Ravina, BlackSage Butcher, as our very own local butcher. Eat meat!

We have loved EVERYTHING we have tried from this awesome small local business. BSB has easily been the highlight of our snowbird stay in Osoyoos and have chosen to return to the area again next winter partly to enjoy the quality that BSB offers in all they do. We have tried multiple cuts of steak, pork, lamb and chicken and every single meal has been delicious. Pre-ordering is a breeze and so convenient. Thank you Matt and Ravina. We will be ordering a couple more times before we leave and will look forward to our first order next December all summer and fall.

Bought 2 packets of Boerewors there. They were rancid and tasted sour. Have never in my life had Boerewors that tasted so bad. Never felt so humiliated as I had friends over and told them how good Boerewors is. ????

On a motorcycle trip in B.C, Nelson—-> Naramata was our journey, our lodging had a bbq so we had to find the best meat place, and we did. Words cannot describe the taste of the homemade sausages, chicken/buffalo, mint and basil, cherry , blue cheese, just insane. And the steak, never in my life i had a ribeye that tasted like that. PERFECTION. And the crew was so kind, and helpful. You guys simply are king are your profession. Thanks!

What an absolutely great butcher shop! The way their meat is cut and displayed is really fantastic! It is so worth checking out! They also have a few other things for sale like spices and sauces etc., you won’t be disappointed if you stop in here.

Their meats are exceptional! The sausage variety that I tried was the spinach and feta. There is no going back after having this! BSB has become my butcher of choice. The shop is small, but they have a good selection of meats and prepared products. Their marinated half chickens and bacon wrapped pork tenderloin have become part of our weekly menu planning, as have the steaks and pork chops for a weekly grill. Special occasion dinners like rack of lamb, prime rib, custom cuts or seasonal turkey are easily available with a bit of pre-planning. All their product is of amazing quality, flavour and freshness. The heart of the business is of course the owners, Matt and Ravina. Their friendly attention to service, support (how do you cook /prepare that questions!) and detail have kept us well fed, and with good COVID protocols, safe. Thank you!

My wife brought home a couple filet mignon steaks for our wedding anniversary dinner (I took her for a weekend getaway last weekend so she did ok too! :-) Anyway, these steaks were some of the best steaks we've had. The quality was comparable to Hys and Elisa in Vancouver and the Longview outside of Calgary. Highly recommend Black Sage for quality meat.

Love everything we have tried from here. Great quality meats. Bacon is thick, quite lean and not salty like grocery store brands. Ground turkey is delicious and moist, a favourite for burgers and other ground meat recipes. Rib-eyes are tender and nicely marbled. All chicken parts and pieces cook beautifully and are great for my husband whose stomach does not agree with the highly processed store bought brands. Everyone here is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend you give them a try.
