It is really nice when the butcher is the owner of the store, so he takes care of you and tries his best so you have a good quality meat with some advice. I spoke with him on the phone asking about beef short ribs, he answered and explained in patience. I bought an 1855 black beef angus, and I cooked it for 6 hrs. with bbq sauce, the meat was the best piece I've ever had since I moved to Canada.

Hands down the best charcuterie in the city. Amazing selection of imported cheeses to choose from. Their home made sausages are fantastic.

Friendly family operated butcher. Outstanding cuts of meat, poultry and sausages. First time I buy chicken and there is no residual slime or odor. Great marinade selection as well. The staff is extremely polite and speak both French & English. They also carry a wide variety of coffee beans.

The 2 owners are uber friendly and knowledgeable. The meat quality is excellent and they also offer great other specialty food such a lasagna. Ask about their mortadelle/thin/mascarpone sandwich…it is not featured but is amazing!

I just moved into the neighborhood, wanted some good meat for dinner, so I found this place close by. I never buy my meat other than in a butcher shop, because I like my meat fresh from the same day. Entering the establishment, the staff was very friendly, there is nothing negative I have to say about the service, but to me, the most important thing is the product. I buy some meat for dinner, I specifically ask for fresh meat, because I noticed all their meat was packaged, they tell me that it's all fresh, so I buy 2 pieces, even though the price tag is around double the price of any other butcher store in the city, i also buy a few ingredients in the store. I get home and when unpackaging the meat, I notice a brownish hue on the side, I check the label, which I didn't do in the store because I trusted them, and I see it was packaged on the 15th of February, I bought it on the 19th. To me, that is far from being fresh. So I paid around 30$ for 2 pieces of meat that I could've gotten fresh from another butcher at around 12$ and they were far from being fresh. I was very disappointed.

I have been a customer of Chez Vito since the beginning and went to get served by Vito at Praha before he opened his own shop more than 59 years ago. You just can't beat the quality. If it is not the best, they won't have it. I still go to Chez Vito even though I moved to Toronto in 1982. Was there yesterday.

We are from Newfoundland - staying in Montreal at a family member’s apartment. This was our last night and we decided to pick up some meatballs, a rose pasta sauce, some amazing noodles, Romano cheese and baguette - all together it was an absolutely delicious meal in. Highly recommend and will most certainly be back to try more on our next visit.
