You know, I am still in shock at what was said to me today at REGINA MEATS at Crossroads Farmers Market in Calgary.
Mostly because I grew up with a family run butcher shop and worked with my dad every weekend. I remember once, it was a Saturday. long day, about 15 hours. We were just turning the lights out and a customer knocked on the window, Dad let him in. He wanted some steaks as he had unexpected company coming for dinner. It was 8:00 at night, dark as it was winter and I remember being upset as it took two hours to clean all the machines before his arrival.
When that customer left, my dad said, "Our customers are our "bread and butter", so I will never turn down a customer. I NEVER FORGOT THIS, thanks Dad.
I was at the Crossroads Farmers Market today. I had not been in awhile and remembered how good "NANTON MEATS" was when I worked for a head office down that way once. It was no longer there, but REGINA MEATS took its place, so I thought I would give them a try. I bought something to BBQ and went to pay with my DEBT card. They did not take DEBT unless it was more that $20 nor VISA unless it was more than $50. So I said well I guess you lost out on a customer, because I do not carry cash. His response to me was "WE DON'T NEED YOU AS A CUSTOMER". I responded, "What did you say? Don't say that, you never know."
When times are good, yes, maybe you do not need me buying my $15 food item, but when times are NOT, I think you might.
I will not return to your little shop and I will also tell others the same.
