Love places like this. Very clean and nice cut meats. If your a true carnivore this store is your heaven. Im sure it is but how can i know for sure the meats are local ontario pork, beef, and chicken? I dont doubt its ontario grain fed but i couldnt find their listing in the ontario meat and poultry listings..

Absolutely incredible little butcher, what a find. The meat quality is unreal. I was speechless walking in there and even moreso after my steaks and chicken came off the grill. Staff are very friendly and helpful, they will take good care of you. You pay for what you get here, but it's worth every penny. I'm struggling to think of another butcher anywhere near the quality of what these folks are doing here. I'll be back any time I'm near burlington and may just end up making the drive from Toronto occasionally. Edit: I grilled a ribeye from here last night - one of the best steaks I've ever eaten.

I have heard from others that J&G was not always a great butcher. I can assure you now that the meat there is top notch, the butcher known throughout Ontario as one of, if not the, best butcher in the province. Everything we have tried from there has been amazing. The sausages can't be beat and the pies amazing too. As for the steaks, well I could go on but best that you try them for yourself. You won't regret it!

Very disappointed with the sausages, used to be meaty and good now processed and bland. New ownership may have something to do with it, we have noticed a decline in quality since they took over. Best butcher shop around. Hands down. My wife and I are always in looking for a thick cut of beef that we can share. We lived in Argentina for a long time and were spoiled with the beef quality there. J&G gets the closest to that quality. Great customer service. Reasonable prices. And amazing sausages as well. We live downtown Hamilton but drive out to J&G everytime we need a good cut of steak.

So glad to be a customer of J & G meats, they truly go above and beyond. I have been able to talk with Peter and customize my orders to exactly what I need for 2 parties that I have thrown. The steaks were amazing and clearly not previously frozen as an earlier comment stated, obviously someone that has never had a good quality steak, or may not be happy simply because of there being new ownership, it's sometimes hard for people except change. On both visits for my parties I ordered the steaks and freshly cut chickens that were then marinated with marinades of my choosing then packaged and sealed to be used the next afternoon, Peter was quite informative and gave easy to follow directions on the best way cook and serve. Everyone loved the food. Absolutely no complaints here. It's not hard to see why he has won the Best Butcher title.

I love supporting local businesses but this place I would support regardless. Very good quality meats. VERY GOOD. The sausages are amazing we go every week to re-up for the weekend. Service was excellent, Nice variety of local foodstuffs in addition to a gorgeous selection of meats, poultry, sausage, etc. We love that they have some ready made summer salads for takeaway when you don't feel like cooking. Grab some potato salad, coleslaw and other varieties...we are trying the Mango salad tonight along with the Alabama smoked marinated pork loin chops on the BBQ..they even recommend how to cook it....low and slow...yum! We'll be back now that we are so close since moving to Burlington!

Despite my love for J&G, today I was not happy with the service. With the Covid protocols we have to be patient & respectful. Respect is a two way street. I waited 30 minutes outside in -10 degree weather. Iong story short - the guy in line behind me knew the owners. When i walked up to the till to pay for my sausages I was asked to step aside so he could pay for his chicken. Both the server & customer were on a 1st name basis. I guess if you want to shop here its all about who you know.

Peter and the team are the best butchers I’ve used in Canada. I get all my meat, including the amazing Wagyu, from J&G. If you are going to smoke a brisket, or reverse sear a 40 day dry aged tomahawk, this is who you get it from. Exceptional quality, at a fair price, from the best customer service in Burlington.

Had my first experience today. A beef filet, a ribeye, a boneless chicken breast and some hotdogs (along with some bakery fresh hotdog buns). My filet was among the best I ever had...amazing!! Everyone else enjoyed their meal and I could see the quality. The service was friendly and personal even during these wacky covid days. We seldom eat steak, so it has to be good when we do. This will be where we go for the good stuff.

When our family first moved out to Hamilton area we didn’t really know many local places. I was out getting groceries and my folks wanted a good butcher shop. I punched a few into google but this seemed like the best place… either way, 4 years later we still go here when we want the good stuff! Always different stuff depending on the season and what they get in, which is great. A wide enough selection of the freshest stuff that you can find something great and even if they’re out of something you want or it’s not in yet, you can try something new and you’ll probably like it just as much or more! Always enjoy coming in and seeing what they have each time.
