I was happy to visit Desi Mandi in Burlington, One of the Best place for Indian and Canadian grocery, with many varieties of products. Food at the restaurant is authentic Indian taste., with lots of varieties of dishes. This store is clean and neat with plenty of space. Employees are polite, with friendly atmosphere. Owner is awesome. I did try Hunger’s choice Namkeen it’s so delicious and yummy ???? I personally recommend Hunger’s choice please try these Namkeen or Indian snacks they are healthy, it’s made in rice barn oil.

My first visit to Desimandi. The store is organized, has all one needs specially there's a restaurant in the background. I purchased 3 items and very disappointed with the quality/taste. 1. Samosa Chaat: Didn't have any flavour. Needs serious attention to bring this to basic taste 2. Onion Chilli Utappam: Utappam was great but the chutneys and Sambar specifically were very bad, low quality and didn't taste freshly made at all 3. Mirchi Pakoda: The quantity was great. But they were not freshly made, it felt like they just heated old ones and gave it to me.

Super clean Indian grocery store with very friendly staff to help you out with what you're looking for. Has a great hot food section as well with amazing dosas and traditional Indian desserts. The curries are a bit of a miss though -- very watery and not super flavourful. Get the dosas instead!

Visited on Saturday and felt really amazed with the great selection of Indian groceries and foods, which speaks of the uncompromising effort put into by the team. Spacious design gives more comfort shopping through the aisles. I was surprised to see them serve fresh prepared food, dosa and sweets. Will be going back soon.

EDIT: Contacted the store, they were very nice about everything and explained the misunderstanding. Ended up getting my samosas, and they were even kind enough to give additional complimentary items! Met the owner (which I wasn't expecting) and he was a very nice and genuine person! Thanks so much. -------------------------------------------------- Ordered sambar idli, medu vada, and samosas. They forgot to give me the samosas and I didn't realize until I got home. Can't go back to complain because the lady at the counter didn't give me a receipt. $7 just for 2 pieces of medu vada, seems quite expensive. Taste of everything was good, but service was poor. Probably won't go back again, which is a shame as I had been really excited to come here for a while.

Absolutely one of the cleanest grocery stores I've seen! Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. The shelves are tidy and organized. The gentleman behind the hot table (Joshua maybe) was fantastic. Explained every item available. Everything is fresh and made to order in some cases. He was a pleasure to deal with. Great Indian store with loads of options to choose from. Groceries are fresh, they have excellent meat options as well. They have in-store deals on groceries items. What I like the most is the restaurant with daily and weekly specials. They also have good options for Indian sweets and desserts. IMO this store has great customer service compared to other indian stores I have visited. They are now expanding their store and I am just waiting for a paan shop in there.

Great big location with ample parking and ample space within the store. This is the Desi store to go to if you need anything. No need to drive down Brampton or Mississauga. The only drawback is Meat is halal only, something they should rethink. Prices seems to be at par with other Indian stores but sometimes Walmart and Freshco have better prices for most Indian grocery compared to prices here.

Never thought I'd say this but this is the first ever Desi store in Canada that has exceeded my expectations; both in terms of customer service and quality of products they have (both packaged and made-to-order). You get everything that you would in Brampton/Missi stores. Staff is really good here - super helpful and friendly. Now the next hurdle is to see if they can keep up with the great beginning.

I am regular customer but I am disappointed today , I was waiting on meat counter to get meat and person in a cap saw me and ignores and did not take my order. I will not come back again. People who worked before on meat station were so nice and they know how to provide service for customer. Today I am really disappointed with the service. Get response from owner and he is really nice person and he told me will make sure it will not happen again, so I am changing my review to 5 star because of owner Raj only .

New indian store..vegetables weren't fresh..lots of deshi items..meat section is ok but not looking great..hot table and indian sweets available..no whole fish. I bought lentil packet of 8LB which offer price was 8.99$ and original selling price was 11.99 but still they bill it 11.99 without offer price . When I saw my bill later and asked them they refused that there were no offer on that product Second- I bought a Dabur gulabari rose water and clearly it was mentioned on the packet there is a free cotton ball pouch . They gave me that pouch with rose water but billing time they bill it 3$ which was free. I must say these things are not mistakenly doing but I can say they are cheating with customers. My advice will to people who do shopping with them , please check your bill and match the prices what is written there before leave the shop

Oh boy... what a great place! My first time there and went in to see if they sold grapes... and check out the store. Found my grapes (nice & fresh) and they have a ton of exotic fruits and vegetables. I don't think anything is missing in this south asian grocery. When I found the deli in the back I was more than pleasantly surprised. Take home dinner this night! It was wonderful! I highly recommend!

Very friendly staff, lots of choice in Indian groceries. Purchased Fresh meat and Vegetables, you can immediately tell , its grade A category. Got couple of varieties of Dosa's and puran poli, tastes really good. Will go again to taste their lunch specials. No need to run to Mississauga or Brampton locations except for Biryani though :-)

UPDATE - Desi Mandi management accused me of spreading false information because I mentioned I saw 3 customers without masks being served at hot food section (literally talking over food). The management claims they checked footage and turns out it was only 2 customers without masks at hot food section. With all due respect, even with sanitizers around it takes only 1 infected person without mask to cause covid outbreak. So there is no pride in bragging about sanitizers at the store when you have shown brazen disregard and incompetency in implementing government's mask rules. What an audacity to accuse me of spreading false information while acknowledging this shameful incident. You should also know that I am in discussions with your ward councillor about this incident. I wouldn't be doing so if I was spreading false information. Since you have claimed that you have your cctv footage I would request you to save those footages to make sure the authorities are able to identify and track down those anti-mask people. --- Original Review -- COVID Prone Store. Stay Away. Group of 3 anti-vax hillbillys WITHOUT MASKS were shopping at the store talking over food counter (at 1PM on Aug28). I was shocked they were bring served food. I went and complained to cashier counter and they said they are regulars at store without masks and they claimed they were “in examination”. No evidence of such provided , the store allowed them without checking. I had to literally press the store staff to ask them to provide evidence of examination, when they did not, I had to force the store staff to get them to wear masks. Even the staff confirmed they were regulars at the store (always shopped without masks obviously) OFC we walked right out of the store without shopping and wont return! I cannot support businesses that cannot support government safety measures. I am disappointed how the store is not equipped to follow any of Ontario guidelines and is still allowed to operate serving food, possibly covid infected! I will be filling a complaint with the city formally.

Gone are the days of lacklustre, sad looking items & the lack of effort (and smiles) on the part of other Indian Grocery Store owners. All the items in store are easily available at other similar stores in the GTA. What sets Desi Mandi apart is with superior customer service and staff that are genuinely happy to welcome you. During our time there, I witnessed the owner interacting pleasantly with guests, running around to lend a hand in busy areas and constantly monitoring aisles to keep them well stocked. Desi Mandi is the "Fortinos" or "Farm Boy" of Indian Grocery stores that provides superior customer service. Please keep that up, even as the business levels continue to improve.

We are now regularly shopping at Desi Mandi for all our indian groceries. Enjoy Huge spacious shopping that was missing in Burlington is now available. We even tried the indian food from the restaurant. Masala dosa , samosas and Malai Kulfi were really delicious. Must try. Friendly staff and cleanliness is another reason i prefer to visit this place.

Very spacious and clean. Did not have proper bathroom access for customers. Had an excellent choice of vegetables. They even had fresh sprouted vegetables. If anyone is looking for a Charpai , then you surely can find it here. The meat shop had marinated stuff which we brought home to BBQ, but turned out bland and tasteless. It was filled with color. Great option for desi grocery overall though.

I like visiting this place as you’ll get plenty of fresh Indian vegetables and fruits options which are not available in giant supermarkets. Moreover, the frozen food item section has tons of variety, anything frozen related to Indian food market you can think of you’ll probably get it here. Furthermore the variety in spices and condiments section is immense. I also like the way everything is neat and clean and well managed. You can also find festival related items here.

Good store lots of varieties they have different meat sections and sweet sections too you can also grab take away indian dishes and snacks too staff is really good they are always fixing or sorting the stuff that’s how u know they are good . I bought samosas twice they have two different types of samosas but they will not refried samosas or pakoras for u so all of the oil comes down to the bottom of the samosa and i think there’s nothing better then piping hot samosa.

Pleasantly surprised on how clean and well maintained the store continues to be in each visit. Shelves are always well stocked, great fresh produce section and the best part of it is the hot food. The Hyderabadi style Chicken Biryani and Samosas tastes amazing. You also get such a nice customer service that usually is non-existent in such big box Indian grocery stores elsewhere. The owners and employees clearly care about customer satisfaction and it shows in all aspects of the store.

Went there twice from Brantford...We highly recommend this place. They have very good prices nothing is over priced compared to usual Indian stores, Huge selection of groceries, snacks. The Gentle man at the cash register and the young ladies who work there are genuinely dignified and polite. We felt very good being there and picked up idli sambar, samosas and sweets too. Very clean, spacious, lots of parking. , idli and dosa batters are available at very cheap prices! They also have Moringa leaves.

I went to Desi Mandi at 2:00pm on 1st jan 2022, there was a white male without Mask freely shopping inside. During this Omicron surge where everything in Halton is getting closed, Desi Mandi is letting customers inside without Mask. I raised to casher, and she said Owner knows about this and he has exception, and we don't care as this is a small shop. When asked did you see the exemption letter, they had no response. So let me tell you guys, being a NP, Desi Mandi is not a small store, it is size of fresco or no-frills and this would not have happened there. Also, he was only one roaming freely touching the stuff and keeping back on rack. Everyone one else was wearing mask. As I felt he got free pass because either Desi Mandi owner don't care or they let him have his way because he is white. Either way, I am going to raise it to halton health and see where we go from there. Also, if you are immune compromised, think being going to Desi mandi. TL, DR :- If you want to get some desi stuff, this is a great place, but you will have a risk to getting exposed to COVID. As, owner replied to all reviews here, I want to see the reasoning behind this. You can't deny this as I have photos and videos of this guy without mask touching and smelling stuff and then keeping it back on rack and your staff there watching doing nothing

By far the best South Asian Grocery in GTA!!Almost all variety of grocery products were available and at reasonable price. Vegetables and Meat were fresh. Rice, Lentils and Spices were of great quality. Don’t miss out on the restaurant as well. Their Masala Dosa with Chutney is by far the best in town. Chicken Appetizers and noodles taste good too!! Overall a complete experience for any South Asian consumer who is looking to have a one stop shop for their home grocery needs!!

Our family and friends always go to this place for grocery and sweets. We order food today. The paneer curry and naan was not properly cooked. It was tasteless. It was around 9 pm. I think they were going to close thats why they messed up with food. I will never order food again from this place

There are desi groceries and then there is Desi Mandi. This place probably has the widest variety/range of fresh/packaged food minus the usual negatives of a small store. The store is big. The alleys are wide. The place is well lit. The overall hygiene and cleanliness is significantly better here compared to competition.

Decent Indian grocery store. I found almost everything I was looking for. But the prices seem to be on the higher side compared to other Indian stores in GTA. Was expecting fresh vegetables based on the other reviews but most of the vegetables are not fresh. Maybe I will visit again to see if I can change my opinion.

We went in to get some already cooked food to eat right away for lunch. That food looked good but didn't seem fresh and hot. We checked out the fruit and the Mango and papaya were over ripe (wrinkly with black spots) but not even discounted. Maybe rhe papaya is ready to eat but the Mango was just far gone. Otherwise looked like a good selection of products in store. Found some unique items I haven't seen before! The bulk walnuts were on sale at a great price and still looked fresh!

Finally got to visit Desi Mandi @ Burlington and I was amazed by the store. The store by itself is a large, beautiful open spaced Indian store. I would call it “A Get All Store” for Everything you Need and More. Overall Quality selections and a great place to shop. There is nothing you can not find there. Be it the amazing variety of groceries, vast choice of pooja items, earthen-wares, utensils, sweets or take outs. The multi-varieties of Mangoes they carry felt like I was in India. Their ready to grill food and the take out menu is never ending. You name it and they have it. The food displays are so attractive that it is hard to resist buying much more than one came for. I went bonkers with their take-out. We ordered Dabeli, Biryanis, Puran Polis, Lassis, Ready to grill food & a special variety of Dosa -65 apart from the regular grocery. The staff were also very patient and smiling all the time.

Concentration around Indian , Asian food. Good place for daily groceries. Have good vegetables / produce. Meat section is okay but no fish except Basa. I loved the Food corner. Edli, dosa, chat, briyani etc... yummy in my .....tummy. missing 1 star because it is missing fish and price is little high comparing to other Indian or similar grocery store. If you are looking for Indian cooked food, give this a try, it tastes good.

I would have given ZERO star if it was an option. The worst Indian grocery store, I've ever seen. I have been going there for a few weeks, since they opened the store. But after the customer service I received today, I'll never enter this store again. As a Burlingtonian I'll make sure I make as many people aware of this fact, as possible, so that people don't have high user experience expectation. I had a complaint, for which store manager didn't even bother to come and listen. The lady on the register just left and a very rude vegetable staking guy dealt with me and in a typical Pakistani tone, no customer service whatsoever. And I came out with resolution to my problem. Even the quality of fresh produce isn't the best. The cooked dishes and sweets are no where near of the quality we used to get from the other Indian store. I'll again start going there. They are such a nice community store, where people listen the customers. This store is big box store version of Indian grocery store, where no one care about if the customer is happy or not. Just a heads up - Make sure you check the price tags beforehand because they intentionally remove the price tag to mislead and sell their stuff.

Modern, neat, clean well organized and a wide variety of goods available. Hot meals are delicious and reasonably priced. Meat selection is great with several pre-marinated options included. Staff are friendly, atmosphere is really great and enough space in each aisle. No need to drive to Brampton anymore, great addition to the community. This is my new favourite store!

I have been to many Indian stores in the GTA area and Northern Ontario! None compares to Desi Mandi! With an extremely wide variety of available fresh fruit, vegetables, and halal meats, Desi Mandi is the place to be for otherwise hard to find stuff! The staff are super helpful always pleasant and I highly recommend a visit to the place…

Visited the store. Neat and clean. Vegetables are good.Lots of Variety in almost all the sections. Biggest East Indian store in the area near Costco, Burlington. The takeaways food items are not for Sikh and Hindu community who do not eat Beef/Halal.

Don't go this store..The Food is very bad. Menu has something and they give you something. Also, selling expired items. Careful with the discounted items..mostly expired. And careful at the billing counter..They bill it and won't pack.
