Best butcher shop in Boston. : D
This is a wonderful establishment in all respects
True to what everyone says, their meat is great in quality. Even the frozen ones. I tried their venison, wild boar and fresh squab. They were all very good. The rack of venison was particularly excellent. They also have $9 serving size slices of foie gras, which are very good. There are many exotic meat in freezer, from iguana, kangaroo to python filet.
A Cambridge institution! The butcher shop here is legendary for good reason. It is the best meat you can get in this city. The staff is very knowledgeable and happy to help you decide the best cut of meat for your culinary schemes. I go here when I want to impress my guests and it works every time.
A Cambridge classic. Pricey but well worth the money if you want excellent meats and/or an interesting selection of gourmet foods. I've always had great service and their butchers are knowledgable and very helpful. The dry aged meats are amazing and if you ever get a chance to buy the butter burgers you will not be disappointed!
The best butcher in the area!
The food was great, the service was lacking. The service industry is all about relating information in a friendly manner while serving your clients needs. Short brown haired guy with a baseball cap with pins in it.. far from friendly, from a management perspective I would have a conversation with him about how to approach people in regard to the stores covid policy. I took two steps inside (with a mask and freshly sanitized hands already in place) and was promptly yelled at in a demeaning tone about the number of occupants allowed inside. I apologised and waited outside until people left. While outside I noticed their guidelines on the windows opposite of the direction I walked from and far enough from the door that it wouldn't have caught my eyes regardless. Sure enough I was technically wrong as they only allow four people in at a time. Once inside I did my best to obey all the other posted verbiage. I was unfortunate enough to get the same guy helping me, I ordered about 140$ worth of cured meat and dry age beef so I did expect to be treated with a level of just regular human kindness. I was not. The clerk struggled to communicate, and barked at me directions and demands for what I was shopping for. I almost walked out, but I was celebrating a friend's moving in to a new place and needed the food. To his credit at the end he tried to joke with me about icecream. I'm pretty easy going and I work in the service industry around hundreds of new people each day so I know how things can get stressful in today's climate. I'll be back to give the place another shot, but just be kind man and give me what I ask for, I'll obey your rules and give you my money.
Amazing small town service in the middle of a big city.
Looking for a strange egg or mushroom? Want fancy meat? How about gourmet beans? Savenor's is there for you. Also chocolate bars.
Pro, good products
Great selection of delicious products!
We specifically drove to Savenors to support a small business. Due to COVID restrictions we were advised only one person per party was allowed in after waiting in line for some time. We wanted to pick out some meats together, but we understand the Covid restrictions. My partner went outside and I proceeded to the deli counter looking to buy some oysters. Two employees were just standing there, not helping other customers, and I tried to get their attention to place my order. Unsuccessful, I had to leave without anything and go to Whole Foods.

Savenor's is a fantastic butcher and market. Excellent cuts of meat, from Wagyu Ribeye to rare game!
Completely blown away by this butcher/grocer. This place is completely outrageous, you can get anything from Kobe Wagyu beef to camel meat and anything in between. On my 2 visits I purchased: Kobe Wagyu Strip Steak - Fat was perfectly dispersed and it tasted delicious. At $100 a pound this checked off a bucket list item. It was damn tasty but will not be purchasing this regularly. Kobe hot dogs - At around $10 a pack these were good but I actually prefer the old fashioned type of dog. Happy I tried these though. I would describe them as more savory than a traditional dog Bayou Bacon - Tasty and slightly spicy, you can't go wrong with bacon! They also have a small and eclectic grocery section as well as an area for produce. Lots of interesting and gourmet items. This is a step up from Whole Foods in terms of price and quality but well worth it.
Overall excellent place. However very expensive thus 3 stars. They carry a good variety of cuts. In addition to aged and kobe beef.
Can be pricey, but great quality.
Great butcher. They have a good selection of meats available.
So I was looking to buy some pork jowls, and was familiar with Savenor's other location so I decided to try them first. I called them at the beginning of the week, and they said they had a whole animal coming in on Wednesday, and that they'd reserve the jowls for me to pick up that night (and from a 600 lb hog no less!). They took my name and number when I called. I showed up Wednesday night, and told the butcher (didn't get his name) about my order. He couldn't seem to locate the slip with my info, and looked around for a while for the jowls. After a while he told me that the head had been frozen before having the jowls removed by accident. He said it hadn't been frozen for very long, and that he'd take it out then, to have ready for me the following night, and he'd knock the price down by half. It's not easy to get there from where I work, but I said ok. I show up thursday night, and it's a different guy behind the butcher counter (despite the fact that the guy who I talked to in the shop on Wednesday said he'd be there on Thursday to personally give me my order). I describe what happened the previous night, and he went off to look... and look... and look. After a while he comes out and tells me it's still frozen, and that I can come back the next day, and he'll give it to me for free. So at this point I've skipped out of work a tiny bit early two days in a row to get here before they close. I'm not about to do it a third time, so I tell him I'll be in Saturday on my day off. I make sure to give him my name and number again. So that brings us to today. At this point I thought it would be prudent to call ahead and make sure they have it this time. I call, describe why I'm calling, and am met with... confusion. He ends up telling me that the order that was supposed to come in Wednesday hadn't arrived, but that they had it now (but that it was frozen still). This seemed a little weird, because if the order hadn't arrived Wednesday, why were the employees telling me that a head (the one that had been frozen, and presumably a whole animal as well) had come in that day. He says he can thaw it in an hour, and will take the jowls off for me. I don't know how they were planning on thawing it, but the head from a 600 lb pig is unlikely to thaw in an hour. He also tells me he'll give me some already curing pork jowls for free, like he's doing me a favor, when I had already stated that the whole reason I was ordering the jowls was to cure and dry the meat myself. I declined his offer. Not to mention that had I gone ahead and got the jowls, I'm not sure I'd even be able to cure and dry it properly after the meat had been fully frozen. Overall the place seemed terribly unorganized, and the staff seemed rather apathetic about the whole affair. I'm a really patient person, and work in the food industry myself so I'm predisposed to be a little extra forgiving in areas such as these, but after trekking around in the freezing cold, spending money on bus fare and losing a little time at work, I don't think I'll be doing business with them again.
Amazing aged steak and fabulous interesting ice creams! Can't wait to go back!
Incredible meat, but quite expensive.
Good product and good people! Every time I go I get great advice. Cody was so good about giving me great advice for cuts of meat to bring as presents, staying within budget, and vacuum sealing everything for me. Always a good experience here.
Helpful staff! The best marbled meat anywhere in the area.
Pulled up to Savenor's on the day before Christmas Eve to get lamb shanks for Christmas dinner. In typical kiddos fashion, as soon as I pulled up to the shop, both my kids were in deep sleep. Feeling stuck, I sat in the car for a long time debating on what to do. I called Savenor's and explained to Chris, the butcher, my situation and he said "I can help!" He enthusiastically took my order and payment over the phone and brought out my order cheerfully saying "Merry Christmas to you!" AHH - I LOVE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Thank you and you've gained a new lifetime customer!
Excellent selection of freshly butchered meat. Interesting salads, cheese, and other goodies.
Fresh tasty food and the service is grate. Also the meat departments has all fresh meat.
Personal and delicious. They're competing with the mighty corporate Whole Foods down the road so we love to support them!
"German" Weißwurst doesn't taste like a weißwurst. It's too chunky, greasy and overpriced. ALDI has better Weißwurst.
Been here multiple times. Got pork shoulder for slow cooking tacos and ground sirloin for burgers. The service is great. Lots of good prepared meals as well.
Very good market. Excellent small but well-stocked supermarket with selected products from all over the world.
For a store of Savenor's food quality, their choice of delivery and pickup partner is poor. I used Mercato for in store pick up at the Charles Street location. They scheduled my pickup during a time the store was closed. I tried calling the store and they have a message that says to leave a voice mail but that the voicemail would probably not be answered for 72 hours, if at all. The Mercato customer service had the same phone number for the store. I went to the store a day after my erroneous pick up time and the quality of my order was bad. I do not recommend using Mercato and I do not recommend trying to shop at Savenor's unless it is in person. The customer service is poor.
What a terrible customer service experience... I placed an order to buy some food in Savenors on 12/26 for my celebration meal and I scheduled a pickup in Cambridge on 12/28. I specifically drove 25 miles to Savenors Cambridge to get my order on-time. When I arrived, I was shocked to see that the shop was closed! I can't believe they just decided to take a day off in the middle of the week and they didn't call me. So, I wasted 2.5 hours to drive to Savenors Cambridge and I'll spend another 2.5 hours tomorrow again (if they are open). If you have a special event, don't count on Savenors, they don't care - just order somewhere else unless you have a backup plan.
(Translated) I think this butcher is the best in Boston. it's recommended. (Original) ボストンではこの肉屋がベストだと思います。おすすめです。

Great service and high quality local butcher!
Great store and great selection of unique meats. Some of the interesting meats they had were frozen turtle, venison, silkie chicken, bison, duck, rabbit etc... but were very expensive and overpriced in my opinion. Can find cheaper prices at Asian grocery stores or even market basket depending on what you’re looking for.
The best steaks in town.
The best steaks in town.
Impressive selection of meats and offal, great dry aged beef!
Good selection but they were quite rude. Wouldn't recommend.
