This is what a butcher should be! I'm not overly demanding about pristine places whenever I bop around town ..HOWEVER..I want my butcher/meat market to be "very" clean...and the product fresh. I lose it when the meat has any grey on it, flies in the air ..or worst...on the meat, dirty floors, and if the staff looks like they just stepped out of a horror movie. Columbus is a VERY clean and welcoming environment. My assumption is that the product sells so quickly there that there is no time for the meat to not be fresh. Take a peek in the back ( you can sort of see from the corner behind the counter) and you'll see a huge selection of uncut meat hanging in the back as if they are busy... not just serving us a great product, but I assume they are suppliers to the hospitality industry. The butchers are very knowledgeable and busy...BUT they never rush you to choose your orders so they can quickly move on. They will help you choose the best cuts and give good feedback. AND THE BEST is the overall prices. I LOVE good value with anything I pay money for and this is the best value I know of in town. And that comment is coming from somebody who has been searching out good meat markets in this town for 20 plus years. Thanks Columbus and thank you to your staff.

This is such a gem of a business. Well worth the 40 minute drive from the suburbs!! The staff are so friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. I bought and cooked what us easily the best lamb I've ever had. I can't wait to try all the other meats and frozen Italian dishes I purchased. (And I'm a snobby Italian... I wouldn't consider buying frozen pasta dishes from pretty much anywhere else.)

Best butcher in Vancouver. So much do I feel this way that I drive from Edgemont Village, in North Vancouver, all the way here for my weekly meat supply. Not only do they have quality products, they are fair and generous. Their pricing is excellent. They don't take advantage of their popularity like some other butchers (who will remain nameless) There are some more exotic meats here, and rarer cuts of meat. I have a smoker and require Chuck Ribs on a regular basis. It is very difficult to find Chuck Ribs in Vancouver. Columbus always has them in stock. They are now located 3 blocks from where my Great Grandmother (who immigrated from Italy 100 years ago) lived.

My first time buying from a local butcher and I was not disappointed. Pre-ordered by phone a 6- rib prime rib roast for Christmas. They cut it off the bone and tied it up again with string. Price was reasonable and pick up was easy. This place often has a line up so be prepared to wait but so worth it! I would love to see items they have available online on their website. Definitely will go back there again.

We stopped by for the first time this summer and the selection of sausages, skewers and Maui ribs we got were a big success at a barbecue. Wished I'd visited them sooner! There's a massive selection here with a good variety including grass-fed, organic and free range meats. A lot of their ready to cook creations look delicious and really tempt me to try something new. Just the other day there were some prepared boar steaks and they were fantastic! This shop can get intensely busy but their number system keeps things organized and easy, just don't forget to grab a ticket by the door. :)

I was so happy when a coworker recommended Columbus meat market to me. I was always a bit intimidated going to these types of specialty shops because I was always worried about the cost being way more than the super market and also trying to order in front of all the other people waiting made me feel a little pressured and nervous. Silly but it's true! Anyways I went to check it out and now only do my meat shopping here. All the butchers are so friendly and patient and not intimating while answering my questions and wrapping up my meats. And the prices are really great!!! Every piece of beef I have purchased here has tasted amazing. Can't even be compared to supermarket beef. Everything is so fresh and they have a large great selection. Even fresh sausages, marinated meats, and frozen pastas and meats. I try to not buy my meat at supermarkets anymore (somewhat icky to me now) and will make the special trip here instead. Love this place so much.

What one would expect from a high quality local butcher. They offer regular and organic meats, very fresh and at really great prices. Their hand smoked capocollo is a must as well as the Italian sausage. I was in there one Saturday and an older lady purchased a large box with a variety of products. Too heavy for her...the gentlemen carried it to her car - a block and a half away...impressive. If you want a 'go to' butcher, you need to check them out.

Every time my mom wants barbecue for dinner, I would quickly come to this place and buy for a meat. All products are in a good price. This shop is one of the most meat market I really like. I would surely recommend this place. When you reach there, there's no hassle but comfortable and easy. This market is good for all families.

At first, I was confusing if where would be the perfect place fro meat shopping but there is someone recommended me about your meat market and I was always intimidated going to these place because I was a bit worried about the cost but when I experienced shopping here? I love that this place is so close to where I live, and that's one of the main reasons I go there. The prices and selection are also very good. Service though is hit and miss; some of the old guys give the sense that they don't like their job or feel inconvenienced to answer questions from customers (multiple times this happened to me from 2 of the guys). Now I just wait to be served by a couple of the much friendlier young guys. But most disconcerting is the fact that there is a "masks are mandatory" sign on the front door (which I fully support, since at the time of this review, it is a Provincial mandatory rule, and one I completely agree with), however many of the staff have their masks around their chins (mouth and nose exposed), so what's the point of that? It's hypocritical to tell your customers to wear them (which they should) and not wear them yourselves. I will say though that one of the owners Eugene was sincere in his response to my comments when I phoned the store about these issues and I do feel he takes it serious that they want to provide a cheerful and safe environment for their customers. I'll give them another chance and see if things improve, as I would like for this to still be my go-to butcher.

This is the best butcher shop I've been to in Canada, to this point. I do a lot of cooking, and I understand the importance of good quality ingredients... Particularly the protein in your work of art. Thus, I have spent a lot of time and energy looking for good butchers to supply me with excellent cuts and good variety (while still being affordable for a moderate income family). I have, of course, found some really good butchers in the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley (Queens Meats in New West was my favourite before I found these guys)... But Columbus Meat Market beats them all, hands down. This market even rivals many of the butchers I found in Europe, and that is really saying something. I'm sure the Italian traditions that have been instilled in this business have a lot to do with that... It's the only butcher I've been to on this side of the water that makes me feel like I'm actually shopping in Italy. Excellent selection and variety, amazing quality, great/speedy/knowledgeable/no nonsense service, a nice big clean establishment, and totally ridiculously reasonable prices (we bought enough meat for like 15 meals for the two of us, and it was only 110 bucks... And we had some higher priced cuts in the mix too). They even make their own salami and sausages, supply gourmet quality ready to prepare feasts (like stuffed roasts, breaded/stuffed cutlets, pre marinated meats, etc.), and they will make any custom cut you might want with second to none knowledge and skill. SERIOUSLY. GO TO THIS MEAT MARKET. It will instantly become your go to butcher, like it has for us... And we live in Harrison (but are totally willing to make a run in to Vancouver every couple of weeks to stock up). We are so stoked to have found these guys. Way to go... Keep up the good work! GRAZIE MILLE!

The product is fine here but the service is poor. Upon making a few hundred dollar order for meat they wouldn’t even dignify me with a response to the part of my emailed questions about pricing. I get that maybe some questions don’t have answers but it’s low to straight up ignore people over multiple emails. They did receive my messages. The order I received was packed poorly. Two packages had come open and I had blood and meat chunks throughout my bag when I got home – a thorough mess. Change appeared to be missing but they didn’t provide a receipt to verify with. Calling other times with unrelated questions they don’t answer their phone. If you want to make any enquiries then the best way seems to be to travel to the shop and take a number then ask the guy behind the counter, maybe. There’s better butchers in the area.

I found a staple in the wild boar sausage. A staple. I bit it and pulled it out of my mouth. Honestly, this could happen anywhere to be fair - so I reached out using the form on their website over a week ago and received no response. So they get a one star review for that if nothing else. Check the quality control for this please. I won’t be buying anymore personally, but would hate for it to happen to someone else.

Great meat market! It’s a busy place but lots of staff. Seems like it’s run like a family business, which is nice. Meat is fresh, nicely presented and very reasonable prices. For example, grilling beef steaks are $5/each. Chicken legs are $0.99 per pound. Parking outside and on the side street.

Went on Dec 23rd and the chef was super kind to cut a new prime rib up because there was only a 2 bone left (needed more). The staff here are super helpful, friendly, and treat everyone with an enthusiastic attitude. It's busy in the store but the staff makes you feel welcomed. I've always had a fantastic experience coming here.

It's the best! We drive from the Fraser Valley area for their meat. I remember going to this butcher with my father when I little. They were on Renfrew and 1st back then. I reccomend ordering in advance as these guy are hollywood now and there is always a lineup lol, but totally worth it!
