Literally every single thing here is 3x a fair price. That is not even an opinion. Nitro latte from cafe is taken from the fridge where it is sold for a lesser price. I love country stores and have given this place a shot at least a dozen times spending on average >$100 on prepared food plus stuff of the shelf. Every single time I am thoroughly disappointed along with all the guests I bring with me. The last $4 I'll ever spend there was today, on two masks that they added to my bill so I could come in and order. A $50 bill that included two soups, one of them costing $13 a cup, as well as 3 overpriced hotdogs which were all inedible. Great location, beautiful area, it is a real shame how badly they missed the mark.

This newly renovated and wildly improved old Brownsville General Store is a welcome addition to the area. Great food with an ever-changing menu and their selection of meats behind the butcher counter is fantastic! And love the branding!! Now all they need is a sign out front - but it certainly seems like they’ve got enough good word-of-mouth, they might not even need one!

Peter and Lauren catered our wedding and were so incredibly, absolutely amazing. Our guests were over the moon about the food—devouring tacos, admiring cocktails, licking the wrappers of face-sized homemade ice cream sandwiches , etc.—and we could not have been more thrilled with how down to earth, kind, and attentive Peter and Lauren were. Would recommend eating their food anywhere you can find it!

If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Peter and his team have done something very special here. From a killer beer selection, to some of the best cuts of meat around, to the knock your socks off food, everything here is perfect. When I’m in the area I regularly eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. HUGE shout out to Mark in particular for being super friendly and helping me pick out the next great beer from the impressive selection. I’ll be a customer as long as they’re around (which is hopefully forever).

Do not sleep on this place. If you are in the area...stop by. If you are not in the area....drive out of the way and come here anyway. You will never be disappointed. A true hidden gem. Few places provide food this good.

Lobster roll was delicious (it was bigger, I took a bite before the picture), so was the chocolate almond scone I had. Definitely recommend stopping at the shop as well, got some things I can't find other places, like specialty sauces and drinks.

Awesome business, super friendly staff, and delicious food. Appreciate the emphasis on sustainable farming practices and the excellent array of products. We visited for lunch and that experience, returned the next day for breakfast. Food was fantastic, burger and fries were excellent and three people in our group got the Pastrami and said it was one of the best Pastrami sandwiches they had ever had. The burger was very flavorful and the beef fat fries were great. For breakfast the following day, the Breakfast burrito with Carnitas was awesome and the Pantry Griddler was excellent as well. Definitely worth a stop for take out and to purchase the makings of a charcuterie board.

2 stars for cleanliness & nice people. Wine area was nice. Grocery items are waaaay overpriced as was a $9!!! Burrito for breakfast that was AWEFUL. A tiny bit of egg, runny cheese "sauce", a ton of runny chilies, soggy uncooked bacon. $7 of it went in the trash! The donuts looked great. Should have chosen that option.

Wow, where to start with the amazing updates Lauren and Peter have made to the Brownsville General Store (now the Brownsville Butcher and Pantry)? The food? The food is endlessly creative and some of the best in the area. There are always wonderfully delicious vegetarian options and the best pastries. I will literally travel 45 minutes there and then back just to pick up lunch there. The alcohol? They now serve beer and wine (such a good idea) and there is an outstanding beer and wine selection including plenty of local options (like Heady Topper!). The groceries? There's now fresh meat and seafood at the butcher area, and there are plenty of delicious local products. Even though it is a smaller grocery store, somehow, they always have just what you need. The people? Lauren and Peter truly know how to make you feel like family. I don't make it in as often as I would like but every time they see you they recognize you and give you a warm welcome. Everyone I've met who works there is super professional and warm. I highly, highly recommend stopping by if you get a chance. You won't regret it!

Brownsville Butcher and Pantry is both a gourmet food store and a quasi diner. There's no table service on the kitchen end of this small but robust food venue, and you won't care. The entrepreneurs Peter and Lauren have brought a wonderful sense of food know-how to Brownsville, including a mix of comfort food basics, baked good (in-house) and even their down cured bacon. Breakfast is when I generally find myself sitting at their counter eating the most delicious Huevos Rancheros you can imagine. On the store end you'll find a real butcher, wine and beer, and a fantastic selection of gourmet goodies. From where I live in Woodstock it's a 25 minute drive to Brownsville and it's worth every second of the journey.

This place is incredible. If you are looking on google maps right now because you are trying to find a place to eat or to pick up a few things for the road- do yourself a favor, just come here. High quality. Fantastic selection. Artisan. Clean. And the owners care deeply for their customers. I moved to the area from Philadelphia and I hit the jackpot to have this place so close in a rural area. I’m not joking, I really did. And it’s not just because the food is great, you can find that anywhere. The big thing is the owners care about the people who shop in the store, and where they get their products from. There is a community effort that is woven into the fabric of this place. There is a massive effort to maintain a high standard. So not only are you supporting a local business, but when you shop here you are supporting local farmers, breweries, cheese makers, etc. The Butcher and Pantry is a hub that extends into the multitudes of crafts people that are in Vermont. So, shopping here- yes you will get fantastic food and local products. But you will also be supporting what makes Vermont- Vermont.

Visited Vermont this past week. We stayed in a little cabin five minutes from this gem. We purchased their fresh filet and shrimp it was amazing! Next day we tried their hot fried chicken sandwich and it was simply delicious! The day we were leaving, we stopped for a pumpkin latte and a unbelievable egg sandwich on the freshest brioche bun! The staff was friendly and helpful.They have a nice selection of IPA’s, Ale’s and wine! This place is amazing, a must try when your in Vermont ✌️

Been a customer since Lauren and Peter opened BUT last night our family (4 adults + a 4yr old and a 2 mo old) attended our first Curbside Cookout. Well planned & staffed on their part -- Music was . good. Had our 4 yr old grand daughter dancing for a long time. All of us had the Memphis RIbs plus some had corn and others had coleslaw. We enjoyed everything we had. Also on the menu was BBQ chicken and a Raw bar. The beer on tap was a local pilsner -- good pairing with the ribs. All in all it was a family event -- lots of famlies. Parking was not a problem despite a large attendence. Treat your family is in two weeks.

Cute store with a small town feel. Way over priced for pretty much everything in the store. Orders bagels they aren't bad however paid 24 dollars for a lobster roll and it was absolutely disgusting. I could smell it through the bag wasn't very pleasant went for a bite and instantly regretted it. The lobster was definitely out dated not fresh at all!

My husband and I just recently moved to the area and Lauren and Peter the new owners were very welcoming! This place is a gem! This store has been completely remodeled and there is a strong feel of community camaraderie when you step inside. The place is divided into two sections. A wonderful eating area and their general store. They serve breakfast and have a pm menu of salads and sandwiches. They also serve wine and beer! One day my husband and I just wanted to go somewhere for drink and didn’t want to go all the way into town. This was perfect! The general store carries a variety of fresh produce, meats and breads, as well as preserves and beer from local vendors. If in the area, you must stop in!

Best burger in the Upper Valley from their cafe. Called ahead for pickup. Don't forget the fries! Yummy. As I perused the meat and fish counter....fresh monkfish, fresh mussels and ribeye on sale! Bagels, banana bread and gumbo. I'm set. This is a gourmet's delight.

I think this place is great. Wonderful and thoughtful selection of items, including amazing meat, seafood and homemade deli items (including the best pastrami we've ever had!). It may actually be the best butcher shop in the entire Upper Valley. Also a very good wine and beer selection. They also serve food, beer and wine - which looks great although we haven't tried it yet. Although we can already vouch for that incredible pastrami since we've ingested several pounds of it (at home). This store is a much needed addition to Brownsville, and a very welcome and needed addition to the entire Upper Valley because they supply so many things nobody else does. I urge anyone in the region who appreciates high quality food to check it out and support it. It's worth the drive, even from Hanover.

Brownsville Butcher and Pantry has been a legendary establishment from day one, a destination worth planning a weekend trip around. VT is full of fantastic local farm to table culinary establishments. BB&P distinguishes itself by serving simply mind-opening quality and selection of meat and drink in a casual, family friendly atmosphere. You do not need to get reservations and spend hundreds of dollars to try many varieties of dry aged meats either at the cafe or by purchasing from the butcher counter. BB&P makes the fine dining and farm-to-table experience available to everyone on a whim. The prices for everything are very reasonable too considering the truly exceptional quality of product. I am so happy to see that more folks have discovered this place since they first opened. I say without hesitation that you life is not complete until you have experienced the BB&P for yourself.

We chose to drive to this place based off reviews and was really excited because it was my first time away from my baby/day date. I wanted just a ham and cheese sandwich to bring home to my toddler. The woman taking our order said “I normally don’t do that... but I’ll ring it in as...” And said something I didn’t understand because of the mask. And I said “thank you. Can we also get just turkey and cheese sandwich?” And she rudely said “I’d prefer if you order from the menu.” I looked at the menu and said “Okay. I’ll have the turkey club... without the lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Bacon, Mayo and Mustard.” My husband got the Hot Pastrami and said it was okay, nothing worth our 40 minute drive for. The popular reviews must be because there’s nothing else around...

It’s so exciting to have B&P in Brownsville!! My husband and I stopped in for lunch one day and again for coffee the next morning. The service was fantastic. We met the owners and staff who all seemed so happy to see each customer! The food was amazing, atmosphere cozy, and prices fair!
