Went there to try their burgers and shopping for meat, the chilli fries were a little bit too salty, the patty were tasty but could be even better if it was juicier. The best thing is their meat: beef, pork rack, chicken, sausages, bacon, jerky and many more. This local farm produces quality meat, healthy and fresh, more importantly is their prices are highly reasonable!! Another thing that is worth mentioning was their hygienic practices, the young lady who served me has put on a clean and new food glove every time she touched the meat that I bought. This is phenomenal especially during this pandemic period, very well done ????????! Will definitely go again for their meat even though I have to travel like 45 mins drive to get there!

We left the country 3 years ago - But now returned - We were super excited to check out Hopcott's new set up as it was always one of our favorites! Good news is the expansion seems great, and we look forward to enjoying all the amazing food and meat choices in the years to come. My only "ask" would be that they offer a GF Bread option at the deli/bistro so we could enjoy a burger/sandwich. Given there is awesome GF Sourdough as an option to buy, it would make sense to have it at the bistro!

Went in today for their cranberry tour. It was pouring rain, but we bundled up and brought our umbrellas. They picked us up from the shop with a covered tractor-pulled wagon and took us to the fields where we got a chance to explore and meet one of the family members who owns the farm. Really beautiful and informative experience. The field was getting flooded as we were there and would be harvested tomorrow. Had a chance to try a cranberry straight from the field and take some photos. Afterward we popped into the shop and bought some bacon, pepperoni and ground beef. As well as fudge and vegan chocolate. We had lunch at the Cafe, chipoltle mushroom burger and the turkey dinner poutine. The fries are handmade and that burger sold the ground beef for sure. So flavourful. Will definitely be back, especially since those pepperoni come jn large packs and we could not decide which flavour to pick.

Have yet to find something I don't like to eat there! I worked there for years as well and never had a bad day. The staff is better than family with a great sense of humor and the food is absolutely delicious. I love knowing and seeing the cattle is raised right next door. They work so hard to make sure each customer is happy and helped throughout their whole visit.

This is our go to butcher shop. They are a bit pricey, but the quality is excellent. They have a wide selection of in house deli meat and cheeses, as well as beef, pork and chicken products in whatever style and quantity you might need. The staff is friendly and efficient and they laugh at my Dad Jokes. What more could a carnivore ask? COVID-19 safe

First time at Hopcott, very impressed, a superb variety of quality meats, vegetables, eggs, honey, cheeses, breads, condiments etc. Although a bit of a hike from Richmond, we will definitely return. We purchased our turkey & all the prepared trimmings. I had the best beef dip ever at the bistro & I purchased a fully cooked roast which I will be going back for another.

I love the food but the older, grumpy brunette lady at the Bistro shouldn’t be in customer service. Apparently we were “bothering her” asking for the cinnamon buns too early. Noted: they do not serve them before 1030am. What a shame because the food, (especially the hamburgers) are amazing. Burgers to go it is!

Just discovered this place! So close to town yet feels right in the nature. They sell lots of exciting stuff: food (always exciting), kitchen stuff (those cute mugs!), meat, and other groceries. Some stuff are expensive but not overpriced. Think of them as your local Whole Foods, but with much more character. We weren’t hungry but really wanted to try their food and had the chili fries. Very tasty and big in a nice setting. Oh and I wish they allowed collection of loyalty points on purchases within the last 24 hours or at least offered signing up on spot. I asked if that was possible and was told no because it takes quite some time to sign up. When I did sign up later I realized it was the standard name/address/phone sign up that could be completed in store in less than 2 minutes.

I've always had a good experience here - great service, great food. My partner and I have been coming here for years! The bistro is excellent (when it was open - I'm posting this during Covid times); the turkey cranberry panini is my favorite! I'm writing this due to an excellent transaction I had just today - My partner went to pick up a bunch of meat for us and brought home some ground chicken. By the time I went to separate it into bags for the freezer, it had gone off and smelled quite bad. She called and spoke to Mike (the manager) and he told us to bring it back and he'd take good care of us. He replaced the meat with no problem and even made sure the replacement had no smell to it whatsoever and was extra fresh! He even gave us a bit extra for our trouble. I'm super touched by that extra push of customer service which is why I keep coming back even though Hopcotts is wayyyy out of my way - but I'll always shop here, and tell my friends and family to keep shopping. :)

So now i would rather drive all the way from Surrey (132 ave) and pay bridge toll to buy my meat. I wish i knew about that place before!

Also meat isn’t what I would expect from a local butcher. Whatever short cuts the owner is taking to save money just isn’t winning over my business. Very nice polite staff though.

This Butcher Shop/Grocery Store is really nice, and the prices on the meat are actually reasonable when compared to other butchers who specialize in local meat. Being able to get freshly cut meat instead of just a pre-ordered box of frozen is a pretty big deal.

The butcher shop and store offer amazing and fresh products. This week I went with family to experience the bistro. While the menu has great options, when we got our food it was not appealing at all. My 99-year-old grandma had a grilled cheese sandwich, but it was so hard she could not eat it. The price for the quality of food was way too high as well. We will not be returning here for the bistro, but will continue to shop in the butcher shop and store

Always well stocked and clean. Covid protocols in place, but there is access to the lunch bistro and outdoor seating now. We took advantage of that today and had lunch. My husband had the Clubhouse and onion rings, both of which were very good. I had a bowl of the Split pea and ham soup. This however was not so good. Seemed like it was a melange of leftover soups from previous days, pretending but not succeeding as advertised...too much salt and pepper, whole peas and a broth that suggested anything but split pea and ham. On the better side, there were some good chunks of ham, but alas I pretty much ate those and discarded the rest.

I've been shopping there for years now, and even though I have never lived close to it, I've gone out of my way to shop there. You can taste the difference in the meats, and knowing where my meat and vegetables come from gives you a warm feeling. They stock far more than just meat and vegetables, too. We don't go here enough. When we do, we are always impressed but the quality of their products. Yes, prices are more expensive than your regular grocery store, but you are paying for locally grown foods - well worth it. Tried the chilli on their dining menu today and it was, if not the best, one of the best chilli's I have ever had. Go here when you can you will enjoy both the selection and the quality.

Nice place. Pretty pricey. Stopped for a sandwich. Expensive for what you get, plus it's not even made fresh having been made early that morning, but it was still tasty. For the location the prices should be a lot less. Compared to a Red Barn on the island hopcotts is fairly expensive. Had to remove a star. I buy the pepperoni sticks in the family pack on a weekly basis. Recently Hopcotts increased the size of the family package, increased the price per stick, and decreased the amount of meat per stick while keeping the length overall the same. Maybe someone was having a bad day at the packing machine but I really noticed the air gaps in the sticks which caused the meat to slide out leaving behind empty casing to chew.

You definitely get what you paid for in terms of quality. Try the ground beef and you will notice the consistent quality throughout. I also noticed that the ground beef doesn't stick to your hands or utensils, unlike what you get at a grocery store.

When I took out the items from the bag, I was surprised because Amanda, your cashier, put the FRESH RAW meat packages on the top of the small package of ready-to-eat salad in the shopping bag. Any person who has common sense knows heavy items are always in the bottom and light items are on the top. I look forward to seeing the improvement of customer service in your shop in the future.

Hopcott is a family owned business, raising the cows locally on their own farm. The steaks, and beef jerky are my favourites. The breakfast pork cut selection is superb. All around butcher for good cuts of meat. The attached eatery has delicious food, including a good burger! Hopcott sells awesome local produce and tasty assortment of pickled locally veggies! Variety of dog bones near till! Helpful, knowledge staff! Easy parking.

Excellent store and helpful staff. I like the ethics of this business, (local business and local products, smaller scale, local farmers, etc etc) and I like supporting them. They sell fresh meat and other butcher things and services (like chew bones for dogs). They also sell local hone, local cheese and some vegetables/fruit and a few desserts, appetizers and baked things. They also have a counter for coffee and sandwiches. The meat is very fresh and it’s high quality, and the staff are all trained and they are highly informed about what they sell and any questions. Anything form spices to storage or cooking… anything! It’s awesome. I trust their products for our family bbqs/holidays. I love their zucchini sticks, and this is where my family gets their meat for our family bbqs and events. They have a few veggie burgers that they make and a few vegetarian/vegan products from local businesses. I like the bean burgers. I love that that did that. The store and staff also follow COVID protocols. They have a table for masks if you forgot one. So all in all: it’s a win or 6 out of 5 stars for me. They also offer a points card/app and now offer paper bags for carry-out. ????????

i have only shopped here in past 4 years once as i found taste of steaks i bought to be very unsatisfactory for the price i paid and size of cut. i went back as i was told they had turkeys for xmas still in stock where my usual big name stores were out of stock and did not want to let my family down not getting one.upon arrival i found 3 left all at the 97 to 99 dollar mark for fresh turkeys, i know that there is a supposed shortage due to floods but 100.00 for fresh turkey!!!!!!!! i was in tswassen to take kids to ferry so stopped in at thrifty foods for some things, stopped by meat area found fresh turkeys, same brand and size as mine from hopcott at 48 and 50 dollars. so why the price gouge on customers at christmas????? this will be last time i shop at hopcott ever, price gouging people during these tough times is utter nonsence. anybody asks i will give my negative responce to stay away from hopcott in future.

Incredibly polite and helpful staff. The superlative quality of beef is evident in the taste, which reminds me of when I was a little girl and we raised our own beef cows on grass, finishing, as does Hopcott's, on grain. I have NEVER tasted any beef, (organic or otherwise) which equaled that of those steers, and I am happy to be able to provide my family with this quality of protein. The vegetables, many of which are locally sourced, were, again, of superior quality and taste.

The market is great. Wide selection of meats and the staff are super friendly. We went to the bistro after to grab food and their were no other orders than ours. We sat inside on the chairs waiting. Took about 20 minutes which is fine, but me and my friend kept hearing chatting coming from the bistro counter but no customer. It got to the point where my friend stepped up to see what was going on. The girl working noticed and said “sorry guys here’s your food there was a confusion”. I was in there today to get some chicken & veggie pie, I asked the girl behind the meat counter. She pointed to me where to look, I had already did. She said if it's not in there then they don't have any. I went to the deli and ask about the red or green curry that was on a board outside. The girl at the deli said it wasn't her department and she knows nothing about it. She told me to ask someone else, I told her don't worry about it and walked out. I know my husband has gone in there for pies before, found none where they are suppose to be. He had asked someone and they had some in the freezer in the back. Seems like no one knows what they have there.

Didn't enjoy my first experience here, I was told by multiple people of the quality of meat and even reading the reviews I was excited, however when I ordered their frozen chicken deal and some top sirloin steak, the next day after eating the steak I got violently sick and still feeling terrible the next day enough to make me take time off work, it turned dark brown after one day and had that expired meat smell to it, went to take it back as proof and all they could do was apologize and make it seem like it wasn't their fault even after I asked them if they would eat the same meat, he responds with "obviously not anymore" insinuating it must have been good when I purchased it, I bought it the day before I came in and showed them, surprised for a place with amazing reviews would allow this to happen, ontop of that my co worker went to the same place and bought $450 family freezer pack and half of it was ruined meat too and had to come back and replace it, overall not a good start with Hopcotts for me.

I shopped today and the customer before me cleared out the section of meat I had wanted. I asked if more was coming, (looked like thick shank steaks with bone). The salesperson checked with the butcher shop and they said none was scheduled. I asked what the difference was with the shank steak next to the sold out soup steak and was told it was cut more finely but otherwise the same. I asked if I could have two of the least fine cut pieces, (their choice) for the price of the Soup steak. The salesgirl said yes and picked two of the poorer pieces and wrapped and priced them. I stepped away from the counter but checked the price and I had been charged the higher price. I stepped back and asked why? She called her supervisor who said they had to charge the higher rate because it was a different cut. I asked why I had been told I could have the poorest cuts at the Soup steak price and the salesgirl had said it was the same Cut of beef, just not as nicely cut, (which is what it looked like to me anyway, and why I asked). No 'Customer is right' basically, take it or leave it. So I handed it back to them at the counter. No thanks, you're either dishonest or unwilling to accept you made a mistake. You've just lost a customer, (after 15 years).

As per some have reported, the cafe staff we very unfriendly, not overtly rude, but mostly offering 1 word answers and disinterested gestures to inquries. There is a golf course further up towards Pitt Lake if you need a rest stop or water refill as an alternative.

Plus they have everything you need in one small store, yet big enough to carry what you need. I can only laugh when i see the haters bad reviews. They must work for the competition lol. Local local local! There are so many intriguing groceries for sale in their shop, and although the prices are high they are very much worth it. On special occasions I will purchase their beef pattys and whip up some burgers at home. If you try the burgers from their bisto i recommend the blue cheese burger - but you really can’t go wrong. I suspect they could tell you the name of the cow you’re eating.

Price Gouging!!! Hopcott premium meats has been my go to for meats for many years, but I am disappointed with the price jump for hamburger during our time of crisis. They have always had lean ground hamburger in 10 pound bulk packs around $5 per pound. They have a restriction of 4 pounds now and are selling at $7.59 per pound! This is a price increase over 50%!!! There are families that depend on these bulk prices to afford to eat right now. By not offering the bulk price they are reaping the rewards of this virus. Other stores are still offering bulk price, on limited sizing. If they had jacked up the price of tenderloin, I wouldn’t care. I and others who buy that product could afford the increase. I can not support this type of “strategic pricing” that will hurt the most vulnerable in society and I’m disappointed to say, I’m not buying here.

The butcher shop and store offer amazing and fresh products. This week I went with family to experience the bistro. While the menu has great options, when we got our food it was not appealing at all. My 99-year-old grandma had a grilled cheese sandwich, but it was so hard she could not eat it. The price for the quality of food was way too high as well. Twice they have been out of a menu item we wanted to order and once they missed something we ordered. These things happen. My issue is with the lady at the counter. All three times she has been rude and grumpy. The first time we went my kids said "wow, she sure didnt like you". I will find a new local place to support that will hopefully be pleasant to me and appreciate my business.

Visited here for the first time the afternoon of June 2, 2018. Good variety of various local meats and other grocery products. Prices comparable to Granville Island (pricey).Like other reviewers I was disappointed by the customer "service" offered by the cashiers in the market and the bistro/coffee shop. Snarky, unsmiling... no "hello" or "thank you". For the prices I paid I won't be back for this reason. Management needs to get a handle on basic customer service skills and monitor its employees better.

Burger was fantastic - but totally disappointed by hidden burnt fries under lukewarm gravy and chunks of unmelted cheese. The burger was very tasty, the beef patty was well seared and the mushroom topping was so good. We started in on the poutine and notices the the blocks of cheese were just that - not chewy or gooey, and while the meal had just come off as our number buzzed the gravy was rather cool. It wasn't until we dug down from the top layer of the fries we got into bitter hard chunks of fries that looked refried. We only took the one picture but the dark bitter refried bits do show up on the edges. So while we enjoyed the burger, felt we got really gypped on the poutine considering we paid the extra for that. So next time if we go back, we'll stick with the basics. But for now the poutine left us with a bitter taste.

The product here are of a very good quality, along with not being overpriced. Dog bones are amazing and a very very good price. Was underwhelmed by the produce, but I am assuming that is because it is the time of the year and farms aren't producing all that much. I've only been at hopcott this one time. Found it by accident because of a wrong turn, very happy about making that wrong turn. I will be going back all the way from downtown for their product.

My mom and I went to the bistro for lunch. I saw the prices and thought these aren’t outrageous. You’re looking at an entree for $10-15. Then I got my lunch and saw the portions and was shocked. I ordered the 5 piece chicken strips with a poutine. It’s came to 14$ and I was still hungry after. The chicken strips were tiny. I probably should have said something to the cashier because each piece was about 2 inches and super thin. Hardly worth the price. However, they did taste good so if I were to go again and have the chicken strips, I would make sure they were a proper serving and not left over pieces from the bottom of a bag.

I always dropped into here on my way to the pumpkin patch. I was always amazed at the collection of meats and poultry....whatever that is. The buses of kids would sometimes get in the way, but I'm fine. There was this one kid that dropped his ice cream on my shoe while I was buying quail but other than that, I haven't had many other tragic experiences at this store. I mean, I ate the ice cream anyways but I still have a stain on my skechers. I guess some things just stick with you, except for their name as I had to Google them for 20 mins. Still can't remember the name, Hopscotch?

Usually I would give this place a high score. BUT I just got major ripped off. I bought a meaty soup bone...which looked like it was a pot roast and soup bone in one. I paid $11 and it has maybe one cup of meat. When you turn it over from the side that was displayed it was nothing but bone. So really I paid more for that meat than I'd pay for a T-Bone. Yes, a meat bone has some value but such a huge block of bone isn't going to give as much broth as several smaller bones would. RIP OFF!!! Will be careful there from now on!

Horrible Place, Stay Away from this place. A bunch of crooks. I am certain they use meats that are old and gone bad at the bistro. Horrible place to get your meats, low quality tainted meats. Mike Lindsey the General Manager is a con-artist himself as his past shows. Horrible person to deal with, stay away from this guy.

We drove in all the way in from White Rock after we heard about the theft of picnic tables and figured we will go for the drive out there to support them. Well, we were really disappointed for taking this trouble! Let me add other reviewers comments about the bistro. We ordered our food, which took a long time to prepare. It took so long that I needed another drink. I walked into the covid lineup and there was nobody waiting so I proceeded to the drinks fridge and was looking for a sugar free drink. I asked someone at the counter for a kombucha. The older lady at the counter then berated me for not being in the lineup and told me loudly to get in the back in the lineup, which had new arrivals in the mean time. I got back in line, waited for my turn and then dutifully asked for my kombucha, for which I was charged full price! Oh, I got my beef brisket sandwich which was far too salty and the fries were over salted too. My partner’s blue cheese beef burger was much better. We then shopped in the deli….my oh my, the prices are really up there! Quality looks outstanding and we picked up a few things but sadly I can say without a doubt that we WON’T be back, because of the awful treatment at the bistro!

I've been going here for 3 years and love the selection of fresh, local meat that is always delicious. Their meat supports local bc ranchers who raise their animals ethically without added hormones. Can't say enough good things about Hopcott's!
