We offer you the reviews of people like you who purchased the services and products of Stock T.C. (Butcher Shop) near Banff (Canada).
Now this business receives a score of 4.1 over 5 and that rating has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that its rating is quite high, and it is founded on a very high number of scores, so we may be pretty sure that the assessment is quite reliable. If many people have bothered to leave their score when they are happy with the service, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to place tatings when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Butcher Shop is classified in the category of Grocery store.
We reserved lunch on the roof top knowing that the colder weather is fast approaching. Staff is warm and patient considering the covid checks of ID’s and Vacs of patrons. Milena was our waitress. We were impressed with her attentiveness and knowledge of the menu. We chose the Mortadella E Pistachio Pizza accompanied with Romaine salad. We both liked the added flavour of the honey and pistachio. The brownie (with vanilla, Carmel ice cream) was to die for. High in my list of restaurants to return to….for so many reasons.
Fantastic food (quality has been declining) and drink and a great vibe on the rooftop patio. Stand outs are the Brownie, Banana Toffee Pie, Focu Meu and the Bolognese. Fantastic wine recommendations are always given.
This restaurant has so much hype that I was hoping it would live up to, but sadly it did NOT! We were told we would be seated inside since it was a little chilly out but they ended up seating us on the patio even though inside looked pretty empty ... We ordered 2 cocktails that were extremely watered down. Then we placed an order for bread & calamari. The calamari was very greasy and came out before the bread (?) which never even made it to our table! At this point we were 1.5 hours in and with a seating time of only 2 hours, we were ready to leave. Won't be back!
Absolutely loved the food, the service was good. The restaurant was beautiful. Cocktails were good as well.
Overall a very nice restaurant. Food was tasteful and the staff were good (not great). HOWEVER, I did find it quite bizarre that on two simple requests I was faced with a straight "NO!". One of them when I asked to change the side my dish originally came with. The other when I asked for some sauce or glaze to go with my stake. In my opinion great food is just half of the experience, the other crucial half is great customer service.
Nice nice nice beautiful interior. Was a toss up between a three but think it is worthy of the four stars as the food was not amazing but steady. 1. Cobb salad was unimpressive and needs to be reworked or removed from the menu. 2. Pasta was average and there needs to be more work on the sauce which was dull. 3. Burger was good but not sure I prefer over a happy burger. 4. Skirt steak and fries was average. 5. Pizza was the surprising winner for the night. The grocery store on the main floor is a nice option with take out in the back. I would suggest that the $6 Budino sweetness be brought down as it is quite unpleasant. Kids liked the place and the food so easy to take family for a night out.
Fantastic restaurant and bar. Warm and friendly service. Not busy if you make 12 pm reservation.
Incredible patios with an amazing selection of Italian foods. They have both and upstairs and downstairs patio, definitely try and get a spot upstairs!
Great food and great service!! Will definitely be back!!
If I could give this a lower rating I would. Have been here a couple of times before and had a decent enough experience to warrant going back. I’m not a vegan but someone in my party was looking for vegan options and found nothing. In 2021 it is rare for a restaurant to not have a single vegetarian/vegan option that’s not a salad. They were also not willing to make any adjustments to the menu items. Further we asked for cream with our coffee to which the server responded we don’t have any, which is pretty ridiculous since they have a grocer downstairs that obviously sells cream. The server also went on to tell us that she doesn’t make the coffee when we informed her that the cappuccino was cold. I write this as someone who’s worked and currently works as a bartender for over ten years. The service was inept to say the least. The server herself was confrontational and had a terrible attitude towards guests. I get that we may have been a slightly higher needs table, but the way she handled our most basic questions was downright rude. We ended up paying for our coffees and going to the queen & beaver for brunch, which was a lovely experience and the server/kitchen was accommodating without making us feel like we were being difficult.
Incredible ambience, friendly staff, and the food and drinks were fabulous! We went for a late dinner (loved the terrine, calamari, and pizza!) and were seated in a quiet little corner on the rooftop patio; the terrace has a stunning view of the city and a lively buzz. We'll definitely be back!
Skip the new brunch menu which has very average food and order from the regular menu! Great restaurant decor and vibe - good for big groups. (Photos from the brunch menu dishes, none of which were very good)
We saw umbrellas over the tables in photos and thought we’d take a chance. It’s a bet that paid off as we scored one of the last tables where everyone would be properly shielded from the elements. I bet Stock T.C wished they invested in more umbrellas to ensure more tables could get the full coverage – despite the plethora of umbrellas, when they’re placed only to protect from sun, it means few tables are usable. So, was the risk worth it? Under normal conditions, the food would be a disappointment. The tagliatelle all’astice ($45) was so over seasoned. It’s perplexing why the chef felt a dish with lobster and marinara – two fairly flavourful ingredients – would need so much salt and pepper. The crustacean became lost, they could have thrown in any protein, a neutral chicken would have worked better. And for a high price point, the pasta had a lot of cherry tomatoes and probably a claw-worth of lobster. I’d pass on the pasta. The Stock steak frites ($26) was decent – the beef was a little chewy, but that’s also expected from a lean sirloin that’s cooked perfectly to medium rare. If I were Stock T.C, I’d leave the steak uncut. Sure, the presentation will not look as nice, but it will help the protein retain it’s heat more as a common complaint is the steak arrives cold and dry. I wouldn’t say it was dry, but the temperature was a problem. Perhaps the best dish of the night was the funghi e burrata ($26) pizza, but even this wasn’t something I’d rave about. I enjoyed the ingenuity of pairing burrata with mushrooms (typically it arrives with basil or prosciutto), as the earthy fungi gives an interesting twist with the creamy cheese. Yet, since I had this last, the pizza had two things going against it: 1) it tasted bland… after the salty pasta anything would seem tasteless; and 2) the crust, while nice and thin, had become hard from the cold. If people are sharing dishes amongst a table, the restaurant should recommend having the pizza come between the appetizers and the main, or even act as the starter if the table isn’t getting anything. That would help ensure people are eating the pie at its peak. The pizza would have made for a nice interlude between the prosciutto con gnocco fritto ($17) and the steak and pasta. Even the fritto, fried pieces of puffed dough, had cooled by the time they reached the table. Nonetheless, they had a lovely aroma, and the prosciutto was shaved thin enough that even the heat of your hand starts to warm the fat enough to stick to the pastry. Since it was my first bite of freshly prepared food since 2020, that fritto was freaking fabulous.
They sat us at the patio in the front, however judging from the reviews the rooftop patio is much nicer. Would highly recommend making reservations to ensure you are seated there. After we finished our food we moved inside for a drink, the indoor dining is extremely nice. The bar and and restaurant has great atmosphere. The food and drinks were delicious ???? They also have a grocer downstairs with a bakery and deli, recommend checking it out.
Instagram @chopstixinthesix Follow Us!! Was taking a stroll at the groceries section, and these pizza slices caught our attention! We got their Ortolana and Pizza Special. The Ortolana came with Tomato, Mozarella, Grilled Eggplant, Zucchini, Roasted Peppers and Arugula. The Pizza Special came with Capocollo, Provolone, Arugula and Sun Dried Tomatoes. The Capocollo and Provolone gave a really good saltiness to the pizza. The crusts were so crispy, and we loved it so much. Will be coming back for their patio next!!
Absolutely fantastic place. Well worth the visit at any time.
Very concerning see attached photo. Picked up a chicken here that was supposed to be cooked. I have to throw it out. Not to sure how something like this passes qc.
Would highly recommend making reservations to ensure you are seated there. After we finished our food we moved inside for a drink, the indoor dining is extremely nice.
Great food, good service, nice space! We sat inside but it didn't feel crowded at all. Food was simple enough but very tasty. Drinks were on point! Would definitely come again.
Love the rooftop patio ambience and our waitress was amazing. As for the food, the pizza was good but too thin to the point it would not hold up against the toppings. I had to eat it with a fork and knife otherwise everything would fall off. The pastas we got were bland and not as expected (only two pieces of ravioli?? Ok). The calamari (appetizer) was the most delicious imo. The cocktails garnered mixed feelings. The Holy Rosemary and Palm Springs weren't bad, but the Oaxaca tasted purely of tequila and salt and nothing else. If you like the sensation of gagging from tequila shots, then the Oaxaca is the one for you. Overall, Stock T.C. is on the pricey side, so I'd only go here for special occasions.
Oh my Food! So delicious
One of the nicest restaurants I’ve ever visited! It was my friend’s birthday and everything was absolutely enjoyable! Everything was perfect and fresh; the tastes, quality, portions, and menu options. My favourite was their brownie desert! It was so good, fresh, and warm that I will definitely return even only for the brownie. =) The waitress was really nice and helpful. Beautiful location, and nice atmosphere! I've been looking forward to dining here but was underwhelmed. Got seated on their rooftop patio which was beautiful and spacious. Cocktails and food was ok. As soon as the server took our order, the calamari appetizer arrived like 1 minute later which was suspicious and sure enough it was lukewarm like it's been sitting out and not made to order. We notified them about it and they corrected it right away. It took awhile to get our mains. Service was friendly but kind of slow. Nice ambience but would not return for just food.
I found this place from American Express's 100 Best New Canadian Restaurants magazine. I made reservations on OpenTable for a Sunday at lunch time, indoors, about two weeks in advance. It looks like if you want a spot on the outdoor rooftop patio, you need to look at least three weeks in advance. The interior had very nice decor with an open kitchen style. The food was pretty good - we shared anchovies on toast for an appetizer, and got a pizza and pasta for mains. Overall, it came out to $75 after tips. The restaurant is on the second floor. The first floor has a fancy grocery that has cured meats, cheese, and other speciality cooking ingredients. They also sell gelato if you're looking for another dessert option.
Good food and good service. Nice decor with interesting lights. Cocktails were tasty
Was excited to try this place but was unfortunate underwhelmed. The pastas we ordered needed a lot more salt and seasoning. The interior was nice but overall, the food was just average.
Sat on the rooftop - super cute decor and great atmosphere! Ordered a bunch of sides which were all delicious! The mushrooms are a must try!
Have been wanting to come here for so long and finally got a chance to stop in and take a look around. Love the huge hot table offering and all the prepackaged grocery items you can think of! They also have cookbooks too for the aspiring chefs! Then you go halfway into the store and hit all the cakes and pastries! Didn’t get a chance to go upstairs but I know they have an awesome patio that’s gonna be great to check out this summer! What drew me in was the dry aged smash burger with 2 patties! And this was just awesome! Such a great smash burger! And of course, needed to get some treats and ended up with some bombolinis and cannolis! Everything tasted great and cannot wait to come back for the patio! Follow me on IG @thirst_and_taste for better pics and more amazing content!
Favourite part was the old facade and staircase of the building. Food was good.
Love the patio they have, food is great so is the service. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for.
This is easily the best restaurant in Toronto right now. I could eat here every day. If I could bring people back from the grave to try this place - I would. Sensible prices, extraordinary food and service… what more could you ask for? Plus - parking is abundant!
This place is great! Highly recommend the pizza and pasta. The cob salad was average, and the prices are high. But overall loved it and would go again!
The interior of the place is amazing too. Loved their beef tartar and cocktails.
Came here for my birthday, loved it. Service was great, super fast and everything was delicious. I had an issue with my desert and they replaced it no question. HIGHLY recommend the beet salad, truffle spaghetti & banana toffee tart, they were incredible. Definitely pricey, (they charged $10 for a Shirley temple lol) still would highly recommend though.
All around such a pleasant experience! All the staff are friendly and attentive. The atmosphere, views and decor are incredible—chique yet laidback. Our food was fresh and well prepared. The only thing I would say to improve is those outdoor patio chairs are quite uncomfortable- would love to see something a bit cozier. Otherwise, highly recommend!
A new place that I went with my friends to celebrate a birthday. We had indoor dining on the 2nd floor . The waitress who attended our table was so nice and very accommodating. We had a birthday for someone in our party and she had lit a candle on a dessert for us! Overall, the food was good and the decor was really nice.
This was a generally average dining experience. Service and food were both sufficient; the most impressive part being the restaurant design and decor. I was in the area and noticed that Stock had reservations available for the day and jumped at the chance noting how difficult it was to find one during the summer. My party of 3 shared everything and mutually enjoyed the pasta itself, it had great bite and flavour; though I felt the Norcina dish was under-seasoned. Their egg and truffle pizza was decadent and egg yolks silky, though despite the amount of truffle shavings wasn’t as aromatic as I would have thought. Steak was fine for what it was, the sauce was forgettable. Our server was fine though I suppose it would have been nice being alerted as to their daily rotating items such as their terrine. I only saw that it was a pork hock terrine while passing the kitchen to exit and would have loved to try. I’m not sure I would return by choice.
great atmosphere and a nice interior! great selection of wines. I was disappointed in the food. We had the pasta, pizza, along with several other items, and none of the dishes we tried impressed us.
Located in the heart of midtown Toronto, at Yonge Montgomery, the ground floor is dedicated to a modern market, The Grocer, and the second and third floor to the Stock Bar, with a rooftop patio at the third floor. The Grocer is now open 7 days a week, from 8am to 8pm. It has a great selection of cheese, meat, salad, prepared food, vegetables, wine, pizza and takeout options. I got some of their pastries and enjoyed every bite of them.
== 29 Nov 2021 == REVISED FROM 5- TO 2-STARS Great food as per my previous review, but revising it to 2-stars due to the service. We had a reservation at 5.15pm on a Monday, which meant the restaurant was rather empty. As we had ordered 4 dishes, the table for 2 which they gave us could not hold all of the food we were served. When we asked whether we could move to the adjacent 4-seater table, we were told we could, but only until 6pm in a rather curt manner. (We ended up having the bigger table till 6.25pm, and the restaurant was still quite empty at that point...) Didn't really understand the attitude. Doesn't ordering more means more revenue and profit for Stock TC? I guess the service staff don't really care about that. Service throughout the meal was slow. No spoons were given for the pasta until requested. No water was topped up until requested. Monday must be a slow day or one which service staff don't care for as they were just standing around and talking among themselves. They did keep asking us if we were done with our food while we were working on it. Very disappointing experience really. == 21 Nov 2021 == RATED 5-STARS Great food, service is a little slow, but could be because it's a Sunday. We ordered the bread, chicken liver parfait, 14oz NY striploin, and branzino (bass). The chicken liver parfait is so good! Striploin is value for money too. It was huge and quite yummy. The branzino is delicious too. We ended the meal with a Stock Rocher. Delicious.
Went here on two separate occasions. I enjoyed the food so much I had to come back for a second time. Service both times were great! The server had great recommendations on the food, and was very attentive.
I do like this addition to the neighbourhood-a nice alternative for dinner options and takeout as well as high-quality grocery items. It's pricey but the quality is very good. We tried the beef wellington and cocktail kit from their Valentine's takeout menu. Very special and happy to finally try this dish! Can't wait for them to open up their upstairs restaurant for a special dining option.
Came here with my wife for lunch and we were seated on the 3rs floor patio. The views are great and the atmosphere is just amazing! Our server was very friendly and helped us through the menu. The food was pretty good, especially my mushroom salad. I've never had such good oyster mushrooms before! My wife's pasta was incredibly salty, though she still enjoyed it. I've had better Italian food in Toronto, but it's hard to beat the views.
Birthday dinner with Karen at Stock Bar. Great menu selection, stylish interior, superb food quality, and warm friendly service. Gotta go back and check everything else out on the menu! Highest recommendation!
Absolutely love Stock! Love love love their roof top patio. Their interior space is also gorgeous so can’t wait to dine inside. Drinks are always phenomenal and the food is tasty! If you are familiar with Terroni, they have a lot if the same menu items with additions from Cumbraes like the steak and different salads. It’s definitely a bigger space so not necessarily small and intimate but it’s a well piled production with their multi floor seating and their shop downstairs.
Had a reservation for dinner at their outdoor seating. It was so pretty with the lights and set up. We ordered a simple mozzarella pizza, steak burger with fries and some drinks. I must say, the burger was SOO good. From the taste to the texture, it was just perfect! Even the pizza was really good. Everything was yummy and I would reccomend. The service was excellent as well. We were always checked up on when needed.
Not for the value conscious. The bill was much more than we would normally spend but the quality of the food and the service was best in class. This explains why it can be difficult to get a reservation if you don’t think ahead. We used OpenTable which worked great. Go and splurge - you’re worth it!
The roof top patio is a very attractive venue (it is only operson weat her pemitting snice it has no roof). The restaurant also has dining rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor (where the pstir is). Service was prompt and polite. The fried calamari was just OK. A bit too dry and chewy. The mushrooms pizza has black peppers listed as one of the key ingredients I asked whether my pizza can be without the pepper and was flatly refused. Sadly, the pizza (that arrived with the 3 other dishes) was cool. It was probably made 1st and was not kept hot. The ravioli was just OK and the special with pasta and truffles was tasty. The store itself has plenty of specialty items and tasty pastries. The meats are from Cumbre and are high quality.
One of the most disappointing dining experiences in Toronto! Ambiance: 8/10 Service: 1/10 Drinks: 7/10 Food: 4/10 I still can't believe how bad an experience my friends and I had last night at Stock TC. It started upon arrival; the hostess was not pleasant, and when I told her I had a reservation, she looked puzzled, checked her system, and proceeded to ask if it was for two people. The reservation was for four people. Anyways, she went away, came back, and showed me to the table (I was the first of my party to arrive). The lights at our table were off, so I enquired about it and was told that someone would be coming by shortly to check it out; no one ever came. I asked for a candle, twice, no one ever came. By this time my friends had arrived. We proceeded to order a round of cocktails. 3 out of 4 were good, by Toronto standards at least: 1 NEGRONI and 2 OAXACA, but the HOLY ROSEMARY was horrible and the only thing you could taste was lemon juice, so we sent it back. We ordered bread, it came cold, and when we asked to have it warmed, our server said that the bread is served from a different section from the kitchen so it couldn't be warmed. :/ Who serves cold bread?? The chicken liver parfait was another great disappointment; we all agreed that it tasted of strawberry milk...GROSS! We told our server that it tasted off, and she was unapologetic in her response and told us she would need to speak to her manager. The manager came, also unapologetic, and was unprofessional in saying that "well, if you don't like it then there's nothing we can do, but we'll take it off your bill." Fine. As long as I wasn't paying for it. Then we waited about 45-50 minutes for our entrees to arrive. Unacceptable, even more so that it wasn't a packed house. On top of that, no one came to check on us, or to clear our plates. We ordered: STOCK STEAK FRITES (good portion, but didn't come with any sauces or condiments - we had to request it, and it took a while to arrive); SPAGHETTI ALLA CARBONARA (I thought it was good but my friends thought the pasta was a little undercooked - and yes, we all love our pasta al dente); SPAGHETTI ALLA NORCINA (not good - tasted like regular mac and cheese, and the truffles had no taste or aroma - probably weren't fresh); and my dish BRANZINO (the branzino was delicious and cooked perfectly, but small portion, and basic salad of just lettuce and radish). I also ordered a side of KING MUSHROOMS, which never came (and which I had to ask to be removed from the bill when it came). Throughout it all, our server didn't come by to check on us; she didn't ask if we wanted another round of cocktails, nothing. When it was time to pay the bill, our server realised that weren't pleased with our experience, and we were prepared to let it reflect in the tip. She then proceeded to make up an excuse saying that if we're not going to tip a certain amount then we shouldn't bother. Like, WHAT?? So of course my friends didn't tip. (I had already paid my bill and tipped her minimally, but I really wish I didn't). It's obvious that there is a disconnect between the ambiance, menu, service level, and overall guest experience. And based on other bad Google reviews, our experience wasn't an anomaly. I'm extremely disappointed because I live nearby, and was looking forward to making Stock TC my go-to spot, especially for client dinners. Now, I would not recommend this spot to anyone, nor would I return on my own dime unless there are some serious changes.
Sat on the rooftop and enjoyed a great experience here at sunset. Ordered the tartare, chicken liver, sourdough for apps (the best part of our meal - delicious), the steak frites and carbonara for mains, and finished with the tiramisu (also fantastic). Everything was delicious and our waiter was so nice and professional. We were really well taken care of and enjoyed a lovely dinner here.
Great vibe. Amazing food, very authentic. The server was such a nice person. Will definitely go again.
Had my birthday lunch with my boyfriend and his sisters and had a great time. The rooftop patio is beautiful and seating is comfortable. Stock did a great job arranging the tables to comply with COVID distancing guidelines. Our server was super friendly and checked up on us every so often. We never had to wonder where he was if we needed anything. I ordered the Mandilli Genovesi al Pesto pasta. It was a mild flavour but super delicious and prepared with unique noodles I’ve never had in a pasta dish before - almost like sheets of pasta rather than noodles. I was pleasantly surprised. I also had a Mojito which was super refreshing and just strong enough. I shared the hand cut fries with my boyfriend and those were fantastic as well. Crisp and not greasy at all. The only thing to note was that my SIL ordered a can of coke and it was $4.00 for the dinky 222ml size. We teased her that $4.00 could get her a case of 6 regular-sized cans. Not a huge deal! Dining out especially during a pandemic is an experience. This was more of a laugh at the table than anything. Overall highly recommend, the venue is stunning, food is great and reasonably priced, and service was fantastic.
Loved their upper deck patio! The view and atmosphere are perfect. The interior of the place is amazing too. Loved their beef tartar and cocktails. Highly recommended!
Went for dinner and drinks at this converted post office. Beautiful space with different offerings. Main level is grocery and take out with the restaurants on upper levels. It was a Wednesday night and super busy. Mushroom pizza was amazing as was Gnudi. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The Covid protocols do take some time to check in so arrive a bit early.
I’ve been twice, and had two very different experiences. Food: The food is really good when you order the right things. Not all the mains are the same portion size which is a bit annoying because it doesn’t make me want to experiment with the menu. The ravioli dishes are small and leave you hungry, but some other pastas are good size. Service: The first experience was incredible, excellence service. The second time was awful and it makes me not want to go back. Emmanuel started off as great but slowly stopped coming around to the table after we ordered. Someone else delivered our mains and he didn’t show back up to the table until we were ready to order dessert. We asked for some of the food to be packaged up, he took it and never came back with it. The bill took over 30 mins to come. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt because it has potential to be a go-to restaurant, but I expect consistency at that price level.
When the owner of a naturally raised meat establishment meets the owner of successful Italian restaurants you get the fabulous Stock Bar. Great space and atmosphere with a chic vibe. We dined on the upstairs patio with great views. The service was fantastic. Our waitress Natalia was super friendly and provided great service! I’ll definitely be back. CALAMARI FRITTI Fried calamari, lemon & paprika mayo PROSCIUTTO CON GNOCCO FRITTO Ruliano prosciutto, fried dough AVOCADO TOAST Toasted pugliese, avocado, radish, poached egg MORTADELLA E PISTACCHIO PIZZA Mozzarella, mortadella, pistachio, mozzarella di bufala, hot honey Banana toffee pie Banana cream, caramel, chocolate, cookie crust Tiramisù Mascarpone, cocoa powder, Savoiardi and coffee Mimosas all around Shot of espresso poured over ice ????
Great selection of fine foods of all kind, pasta, meat, cheeses, veggies, bread, wine. Everything looks very appealing and the staff is helpful. I typically go there for the ravioli/tortellini as well as for the cheeses. Pricey but usually worth it for the high quality food.
Wonderful food and service. My daughters and I loved it. Highly recommend
Today we tried out a new place in our hood for lunch , actually in our building called Stock TC Bar . Amazing place amazing environment , we ate on the upper terrace patio you feel like your actually somewhere else and in these times where travel is complicated why not . The service and the food top notch we had as our server Millenia made us feel special . Thank you to the management Stephanie for ensuring we had a nice spot ,that said every spot is nice . When dining out in Toronto this place is a must, were booked 3 more times this month ….
