Your basic supermarket with a good selection of meats and a good deli section with lots of take home options. My favorite is the chicken pot pie. Won't fault it for it's higher pricing since that's common across all of Canmore. However, the problem for me is the lack of parking in front of the store. If it's rush hour, I usually won't bother and will head straight to Safeway.

Produce could be better. When this location was Sobeys, the produce in Safeway next door was substantially more appealing. Now that Sobeys bought the Safeway and merged, their produce is still more appealing. SaveOn moved into the Sobeys location and the produce didn’t improve much. Is that sourcing, risk/waste, or sales volume? Not sure, but it’s the only area needing improvement in my opinion.

No deals here nothing to "save on" as this was formerly a Sobeys but they forced out all of the experienced ex-Sobeys staff and hired minimum wage inexperienced workers, no butchers here anymore as all meat is pre prepared in BC and shipped in, disappointed compared to what used to be here and expensive! It's cheaper to drive to Cochrane and shop or go to Safeway as it is cheaper than Save on.

This is the best place for groceries in Canmore but it does have significant problems. The after-work rush means the longest lines I've ever seen at a store (don't go then). Deals on produce sometimes means it's going to rot in 24 hrs. They do, however, stock a wide variety of produce, have a decent organic section, and have exceptional deals sometimes. A good deli is handy for travelers (premade sandwiches that are cheap and good).

Save on Foods... best place to camp for anyone... They supply free internet, free parking and you can deficate rigjt where you eat, open liquor and fires seem to be rampant. The save on foods in Canmore served its purpose. We went to both Save on Foods and Safeway in Canmore. Nothing was really wrong with Save on Foods but we certainly preferred Safeway. As a family we felt a bit safer at Safeway and appreciated the offering to clean our hands on the way in.

Best Patio In Town. Since roughly 2014 I have been attending Save-On Canmore for lunch on a nearly daily basis. I usually get a quarter chicken leg with wedges which is available from 10 AM until virtually closing time. I often joke to staff members on duty that Save-On has the best patio experience in town. But it's not a joke. It really is the best patio in town. I like to buy my produce daily, and so I normally pick up fruits and vegetables while I am there. The team at the store keeps the stock on the shelves in immaculate condition. I have never had access to finer food in all my years. My routine changed recently, as many of ours did and since the mask mandate was made a bylaw in Canmore in mid 2020, I have had difficulty shopping, because wearing a mask aggravates my mental health issues. Recently, a law was passed in Alberta allowing people with certain conditions to seek a written medical exemption from mask requirements. I secured such a note and tonight I took my first trip to Save-On without a mask in nearly a year. I felt welcomed and accommodated. Moreover, I felt like part of my personal dignity was restored. Patio humour aside, I have been working in restaurants in the Bow for 10 years now, and I can faithfully say that the courage, humility and dutiful service of the team at Save-On Canmore is unmatched in any retail or food service environment in this town. It is clear that nothing can hold you guys down. Thank you!

There is a nice little gift section, including cards, books and toys. The selection in the store is generally very good once you have got orientated.

Rude staff and poor selection. Go to safeway. Safeway has twice (TWICE) the produce selection, a cleaner store, more products in general. When we got to the counter, we changed our mind about a product and the woman who checked us out guilted us into buying it; we said we didn't want it and she said/screamed "WHY NOT?" quite loudly; I said it just didn't look very appetizing, but if it was a big deal i'd just pay for it; I said we'd take it back but she continued on; long story short, we just paid for it to get out of the store. Never shopping here again.

Seriously if it took Yae N any longer scan groceries and bag everything horribley we would have had to get a hotel and stay the damn night. Our quick pit stop to grab a bite and hit the road turned into an hour. I must have stood in line for 20 min while only 2 people stood in front of me. This was the second till I stood at as the lady at customer service sat and had a social conversation with a customer about her getting over charged for cherries. And then stood there watching the next customer sign all her lotto tickets. Why couldn’t she help the next customer in line while that happened. This is Terrible service. I would think that your express meal service would mean that you can rapidly come in get your food and get out.

What impressed us the most was the vast selection of packaged salads, fruits and cheese platters which were all very fresh, and came in handy when we couldn't find a decent place to have a healthy lunch or dinner. I'm not really a fan of Pay-More-Foods but I'll give them one star more than they deserve for having a Tim Hortons attached to it. My least favorite part was the way they store their water bottles out front in the blazing sun. Nice way to leech any chemicals possible into your water. Stay clear of their bottled water. You're probably safer drinking the water out of a gas station's ditch.

I brought it up with her and said that it should be included - she said that there was a change and they're supposed to charge for the dressing. What?!? In what world do you pay $11 for a premade salad that doesn't include any dressing?! The principle of this irked me more than the extra $1.58.

We bought 6 big water jugs 2 years ago at this location paying a $10/jug deposit. In December 28 we wanted to return them to the store since we don't use them anymore. We approached the assistant manager and there seemed to be a misunderstanding in regards the deposit/purchase of the water Jugs. On January 4 we returned to the location and the assistant manager was very helpful in finding a solution for our problem.

Dairy is ALWAYS out of date. Have regularly purchased items from bakery and produce with mould. Staff are bipolar, either exceptional customer service or you're ruining their day asking a question. Don't worry! Safeway is next door.

I would give zero stars if I could. Service in the meat department is terrible. Staff were not helpful and need to learn how to move quicker than a crawl. Not to mention when I asked for help the meat department staff member blew his nose in font of me then continued to help me without washing their hands. It's just gross...... I'll never shop at any save on foods again if this is how they are run.

Great place to buy anything and everything.. *drops mic* They have a great selection of Bulk, Fruits and Veggies, have a great store brand (western Canada), have been around for over 100+ years so they've got the experience and the knowledge, their More Rewards Card is great too. Even though you do have to have a More Rewards Card to get the savings it's nice to know that if your just visiting you can ask anyone, whomever may have one and scan it and get the savings. Glad I found a great local grocery store that's really fair with everything.

We stopped here to pick up a few supplies when we were staying in Canmore to visit Banff National Park. It's not the nicest of grocery stores. It wasn't super clean and seemed like it needed to be remodeled. They had everything we needed. No self check out and the cashier was very grumpy. When I told her the card reader wasn't ready to take my card she tried to blame me for taking out my credit card too early when I never put it in. She was also not nice when my parents asked if she had a frequent shoppers card they could use. Overall, is a grocery store and it got the job done. If I saw another one in town, I'd go there instead.

Large store with decent selection of produce. Some items are only in one brand but most things give you choice. Prices aren't too high and if you get the points card you'll definitely save! It's surrounded by other stores and there's a liquor store right across, so the location is very convenient.

Very well lit, helpful friendly staff. Sometimes sale items are sold out but otherwise it's pretty easy to find what you're looking for and there's generally quite a few tills open so you don't have to wait a terribly long time to pay. They have a good deli and lots of really good fresh take home options like fresh pizza and LOTS is salads and fresh cut fruit.

Canadian food prices are nearly double ours bear the Idaho / Washington border. We found prices at Canmore's Save-On-Foods to be a little lower than what we had been seeing since entering Alberta. The store was clean. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, & helpful. They offer a Guest card for non-locals to be able to save on card-only prices. We liked freshness a little better at the Safeway a block away, but the difference was.minimal. We were given to understand that the 2 stores have one owner.

Good selection nice employees but why is there a rock garden outside with a sign reading "do not walk on rocks"? Seriously pull that out and put walkways between parking rows. It's dangerous in 2 ways. People have to walk over it, and if they avoid it then they walk in traffic instead. The parking lot needs to be redone asap. It's just considerate of customers.
