I have been ordering from Ottawa Valley Meats for several years now and I will NEVER go back to buying meat at the grocery store. I am huge fan of buying local, and having everything ready to cook at home is a real plus. It makes it so much easier to eat fresh and healthy every day. I have been ordering large quantity(for my standards) of chicken meat from Ottawa Valley Meats for a while now and the quality of the meat has always been top notch. -Delivery services have always been good and on time by the driver. -Interaction with the workers have always been great ! I will continue to order bulk purchases in the future. - It's important for me to obtain my meat from ethical farming sources. I Wish we could see a bit more detail information on their website regarding which local farm(s) the chickens comes from, this is more so to see the quality of life for the chicken(or other livestock). This is just a personal preference though.

Online through Facebook I asked them to put together a 4lb prime rib roast for Thanksgiving. Black Angus they promised - a WOW roast! Sounded really good! This was Tuesday and I told them I would pick it up the next day. It will have to be later in the week, we do our cutting on Wednesdays I was told. Sure np, I'll pick it up after work Friday. Arrived Friday just after 4. They can't find it! This was a $100 order. Guess they don't need my business, and that works for me. But I'm left scrambling now... Any local butchers know where I can get a 4-6 lbs prime rib roast by Monday October 12th? I'd be happy to pay You good money.

Originally told my order would take close to ten days for delivery to my area, Allyson came through for me and delivered after four days. I was very pleased with that . Upon unpacking my meat, I was surprised to see the meat was vacuum packed, but frozen. I would have preferred to decide which pieces I wanted frozen, as well as numerous pieces not labelled as to what they were. Secondly, I had requested my steaks to be 3/4 inch thick and they arrived very thin for the BBQ. With that being said, I wrote an e-mail to advise my displeasure with the way the product was presented, not the quality. I have yet to hear back from anybody, four days later. In response back to your reply, thank now for replying. My question is why does vacuum packed meat have to be flash frozen. I was sending it back to Montreal and the smaller pieces unfroze during travel. As well, the smaller pieces where not marked as to what the cuts were, hence my question as well. I cannot say if the unmarked ones match your thickness criteria on your site, as I am not sure what they are. I will say, my son tried on piece and said it was good, but has no clue what cut it was. The steaks are way too thin he mentioned.

Someone posted about meat recommendations on the neighbourhood Facebook group and 12 people highly recommended Ottawa Valley Meats. I always go to Costco for my meat, so I laughed but decided to browse there website anyway. After looking at there site and the jaw dropping prices, I for some reason had a gut feeling and decided to try them out. I put in an order for a little over $400, which included steak, ground beef, chicken and lamb. My order came in on a Friday as promised, with the exception of the lamb, which is not in stock yet. I tried some of the ground beef the same day in hamburger form and the steaks on Sunday. The hamburger meat was a little fatty but very flavorful and had a distinct taste to it that definitely felt like farmed raised. The burgers were very juicy and moist. The steak was the best steak I have ever purchased at home. Simply said, I am blown away by the quality and taste of the meat so far. As a matter of fact its so good that I am putting in another order first thing tomorrow. This is truly the definition of you get what you pay for, and I will only get my meat from here moving forward. I love supporting local and I really enjoy quality meat and nothing compares to the meat that I have had from Ottawa Valley Meats. I am Simply blown away. Just wow. I am happy I went with my last minute gut decision and ordered from here.

I have two complaints about Ottawa Valley Meats. Recently, I went to pick up an order at their store including a jug of milk. When I got home, I noticed that it had some clumps in it. I thought that was just because it had higher fat content and that it must have settled. Turns out, it was about to expire. I picked up my order on a Wednesday, and the milk expired on Saturday. I don't think they should be giving people milk that only has a few days left before it goes bad. This milk was very expensive and I had to pour half of it out. We only realized it was bad on the Friday when it started tasting very off. I emailed them about it and they never got back to me. Then recently, I ordered a meat package, and it took two weeks for them to deliver it to me. I do understand that it is a pandemic, and they are probably very busy, but maybe they should hire more people. Also, the day the order was supposed to arrive, they emailed me to say it would arrive by the end of the day. It ended up arriving at 8:45 at night, even though I had planned to cook some of the meat for dinner that night. The thing that bothered me the most, was that some of the meat was completely defrosted, and some of it was partially defrosted. Two packages of chicken were defrosted, a roast beef was partially defrosted (which was $37.00), and three packages of ground beef were partially defrosted. I also emailed them about this, filling out the customer service form and they have yet to get back to me about it. I don't mind that mistakes are made, or that due to the pandemic they are overloaded, but at least get back to people and offer some sort of apology or compensation.

Best Meat we have ever eaten! The prices are extremely reasonable considering the quality. You can immediately tell from the second you get it that it is REAL farm meat????. The colour is much more vivid, it looks like a quality butcher just cut it for you. The marbling in the rib steak is something we have never seen before. The bacon was out of this world! IT barely shrank when we cooked it so the pound went a lot further. Nice thick cut with a rich smokey flavour. We have tried several services similar to this one and have to say we have found our "Meat Home"!

We were a customer for a few years until our last order in October 2020. We started ordering when OVM originally sold freezer packages of locally raised and butchered meat. It was excellent quality and cut locally by a local abbatoir (Henderson). I guess their growth and popularity required change, our last order of meat was not local, and not butchered locally either. It was all just resold pre-sealed Leavoy Rowe Beef cuts from Mississauga. I could find no change to the description on the website, it felt like a bait and switch. I don't trust their marketing anymore, I look elsewhere for locally raised meats.

I've never had better meat or service. We tried a few other meat delivery companies in the area and have to say our beat experience by far has been with Ottawa Valley Meats. The Mennonite smoked bacon was exceeding our expectations, and the steaks were so tender and juicy. Just 10/10 across the board. Lifelong customers for sure!

Every cut has been picture perfect and absolutely delicious. The steaks are mouth watering tasty and cray tender. I’ve ordered twice now from Ottawa Valley Meats. The products are excellent across the board but especially if you like Chicken and Bacon this is the place to shop. Ground beef is top shelf and the roasts are really good too. Next time I will try to order thicker steaks, the sirloins were good but were a bit thinner than I like. The service is really excellent, the first order they forgot a box but when I called them they had it sorted within 15 minutes and I got the missing box on the next delivery run as promised. The crew just dropped off my second order today and everything was accounted for. I also got a great t-shirt too. Overall we’re very happy with Ottawa Valley Meats, they operate a great business. If you don’t want to spend all your food money at big stores where you don’t know where the products come from I recommend giving these folks a try.

UPDATE - Jun 7th 2021 I finally got my order on Thursday (June 3rd) and it was delivered directly by OVM. Looks like they might be ditching FedEx for deliveries to my region. That's great news! Everything looked great in the box but I haven't had a chance to try anything out yet. The whole experience was a little frustrating at first, but Allyson came through was we are now very satisfied.. Will most likely order again in the future! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you are local, OVM is probably a fine meat supplier. However, I would stay away if you are not local. Their website states delivery will happen within 7 days of ordering, which is fair. However, I have placed an order 14 days ago and it still has not shipped, even though customer support told me over the phone it would ship early this week. They were 'waiting for more orders from my area' before shipping. Not sure if this is true or not or if they are overloaded with orders. I've since requested a refund and am no longer able to reach anyone via email, phone or messenger. Buyer beware.

OVM, I have attached a copy on my order details for your reference. Looks like you doubt that I am a real customer. I have made one purchase and saying that I was disappointed is saying nothing. I was shocked. Mr Darius Campeau, the president of the company in reply to my concern effectively blamed me in manipulating with their products and tried to intimidate me. His response is enclosed. My concerns. I ordered ground beef, pork cubes and pork back fat for making home dely. I am not a professional, by I’ve been making homemade deli for more than two years. So far I’ve used a lot of meats from different stores and farmers. The port cubes from OVM looked like they were soaked in water before freezing. I could squeeze water from them like from sponge. The same for ground beef. I am attaching the picture of the ground beef after defrosting it. Well, the “pork back fat” did not look even close to what they advertise on their web site. However what I got did not look like BACK fat at all. I am attaching the copy of their web page and the picture of the delivery. Here is the OVM response to my concern. I would like to note that that was the very first response of Mr. Campeau. There were no any discussion or attempts from their side to try to understand my concerns. ********************************************** Hello Alexey, I can assure you that we do not soak anything in water, at all. We run a provincial plant with a dry aging cooler and a air pig chiller. I have NEVER seen our ground beef (or any other meat) do that with millions of pounds sold. There is no reason for it to do that unless it was molested and manipulated after delivery. I invite you see our facility so you can see the process and the distinct lack of this so called water soaking. To be quite frank, making blind statements like this are paramount to libel and have severe consequences as you are accusing us of illegal activities. Can you send me pictures of the meat in packaging or the packing itself? That is why google allows us posting reviews and that is why my review is here. Do you want to say that what you see on my pictures looks OK? Or are you blaming me in fraud? OVM I do not need anything from you. My last comment. OVM do not tell me whether I should or should not post reviews before contacting your customer service. That is totally up to me. I pay and I expect more or less good service. I did not get it and I posted my negative reviews to warn potential customers. However I did try to call you, the number did not answer. As I already mentioned, it is very nice to keep asking me to show you either packages or unpacked products knowing that I already unpacked them all.

We ordered ground beef and some striploins and both did not disappoint. We had a small issue with our order, but here is where their customer service really knocks it home. Without hesitation they offered to replace the affected portion of our order (and then some) just so we could have a chance to really enjoy their product. Never experienced such a seamless customer service experience without the quagmire you usually have to navigate to get satisfaction. So if you have never tried Ottawa Valley Meats by all means go for it. You are supporting local and delivery is also super fast and efficient. Will be buying again for sure!

Ordering and delivery process was great; unfortunately the product was not. Chicken thighs and pork shoulder were fine, nothing special, but decent. Sirloin steaks were sliced way too thin though (1.5cm), too lean and tasteless - not even sure they were sirloins. And bacon was the worst - fattiest we’ve ever bought, barely any meat. 10 pounds at almost $10 each and we’d have gotten higher quality at Costco, plus for this price it should be organic (it’s not). We prefer to buy local but this won’t be it.

Got the Fill your Freezer special, was not disappointed. Driver was super nice to me and my 2 year old who ran to the door to wave. All and all a great experience. Can't wait to dig in. **Edit, 4 months later** Ordering this again, finally went through all the meat about a month ago then tried to get in touch with someone about making substitutions on the next order but received no reply. That being said, it's 2 weeks before Christmas so they're probably busy as all get-out. Getting this package lasted a Family of 3 (2 adults and a 3 year old) about 3 months and took about $100 off my weekly grocery bill so saved me about $400 in the long run compared to buying whatever the Grocery store had in stock. The Quality of this meat straight up embarrasses grocery store meat. Bacon has flavour and doesn't just taste like salt. Their Ham is out of this world (Seriously, add more to your cart if you can) I hope to be ordering this for as long as they're offering it. It's the only one I can find of this size and value, I have no intention of going back to Grocery Store meats.

I have been a customer of Ottawa Valley meats throughout the pandemic and have been very pleased until now. I ordered steaks and received a box of steaks from Obsidian Inc, the owners of franchises such as Chuck Roadhouse, Crabby Joes, and Union Burger. I tried to return these steaks for a refund, but Ottawa Valley Meats will not return my calls. Does anyone know if this franchise company actually purchases steaks from our local farmers that are antibiotic and hormone free? The idea of eating meat from a franchised roadhouse is a little over the top for me. I think I would actually prefer to eat steaks from Costco! Follow - up: Ottawa Valley Meats did offer to take back the steaks. However, I was unable to get back to their Outlet to return them. And, since I have a small freezer within my fridge, I had to dispose of those steaks to make room for another purchase of meat I needed for a weekend family dinner. It was a financial loss for me, but as is wisely stated, "Buyer Beware!"

We've been customers of OVM for about a year now. The meats are always top quality and customer service from Glen has been stellar. I also like that I can order some of my seafood alongside my meats from one place. We'd been with the competitors for 3 years and really didn't like their sales tactics and the fact that I had to buy 12 months worth of meat at a time (took up the entire freezer and it was a hassle to shift stuff around!). It might work for other people but not our family since I needed room in my freezer for other things like kids' junk food. Anyway, OVM has been great and we intend on remaining customers for a long time.

This conpany rips you off. Ordered free range drumsticks a while back supposed to be 4 to 5 a package a bunch came with just 2 and not sure whether they were free range.. Ordered bone in ham for Christmas and received nearly expired ham with no bone. Also it was supposed to be free range and it was not. Not sure why all the good reviews. I've had way better experiences with other online butchers like whispering meadows and Niku farms.

Got my first order in on Friday and im super impressed. The ordering process was extremely easy and was delivered right to my door. The pick and choose box is perfect for a single guy who lives alone like me. Everything was vacuum sealed and individually wrapped for increased freshness as well as easy storage and meal planning. So far I've tried a rib steak and a pork chop and both were fantastic quality meat.

My wife ordered the Teaser Box for me for Father's Day. Who wouldn't want a box of really good meat! The box arrived and we have been taking from it slowly. First was the lean ground beef. Tasted great but it was extremely fatty, you can see in the photo. Second was the chicken breasts. Very tiny but were not of any better quality than I get at the grocery store. Third we tried the bacon. Very disappointed. Every piece was practically see-through and there was so much water while it cooked, by the time the bacon started to fry, it was already boiled. It too was very fatty in the end. Fourth were the breakfast sausages. Amazing. Great flavour and texture and very little fat. Lastly we had the 1lb Prime Rib Steak. Again, disappointing. The steak wasn't even a pound, it was 0.84lbs which is 13oz. Instead of a nice fat cap as advertised, there was about a 4oz blob of fat. So now we are down to 9oz steak. Then maybe 2 oz for the bone and we are down to 7 oz. I must say I have never seen so much fat on a Prime Rib Steak in my life. If this Teaser Box is designed to tease people to buy, it didn't work. In fact it has done the opposite. The steak was what I would expect from Wal-Mart.

We have ordered meats from here for many many years. It is so much cheaper than going to the supermarkets, and you get WAY BETTER meats. Dividing up the total cost for the entire year, we spend roughly $100 a month on meat. Way way less than what we used to spend for better quality. I highly recommend Ottawa Valley Meats. Especially now, that we are in a pandemic. Why go out when we get it delivered for free and not worry about going out for a year?

***UPDATE*** Within minutes of posting this review OVM was in touch with me, explained the one-off situation that had taken place which lead to these steaks being inadvertently delivered, and immediately offered to make good on their product and service. I was, and am, truly impressed with the level of care they immediately took as well as their offer to correct the wrong as quickly as possible. Thank you! Given a two star as we have only tried one item so far and hope that the rest will be better. Throughout the pandemic we have been wavering on whether or not to try OVM and finally decided to give it a go based on the incredible reviews. So far we are terribly disappointed. The Rib Steaks that we are having for dinner tonight are a horribly thin 1/2" thick. not sure where the dude in their commercials gets his steak, but from what I can see, it ain't OVM. 1/2" thick, why even bother? We wouldn't have even touched these in a supermarket, of course we've never seen them this thin in one either.
