Stopped by here out of chance. Food was delicious. Space is a little limited during lunch, closed on the weekends. Food and service was great though.
Best porchetta sandwich
Tasty sandwich, but too small when you consider the price (compared to the YVR location), and subpar presentation
I went here in May 2019. I didnt even eat my sandwich because I devoured my soup. I got the Vietnamese beef stew, also called Bo Kho, that they make. I dont live in Calgary or anywhere near but I think about this soup sometimes and it makes me so happy. I loved it so much. I had never had it before but somehow it gave me so much comfort. I have tried to replicate the recipe at home and have never done it justice.
Best Fkn sandwich in the City, hands down !!
The beef sandwich is very juice and full of flavours. Nice friendly stuff too.
Good food but expensive considering that portions are on the small side.
Fast service, personable staff. High quality local products.
They got my order wrong. For the price I was expecting something a bit more than a bit of greasy ground meat on a small bun. It tasted alright though.
Great sandwiches, loved both the made in store bread and the meat, and the efficient service.
Hands down the best meatball sandwich EVER!! The other sandwiches are incredibly awesome too but they’ve totally ruined me for meatball subs anywhere else.
Always amazing. Great food, awesome service, sweet price, the guys remember you and are always nice!
Great sandwiches, but an inch short of satisfaction
I love this place so much ❤! It is an amazing sandwich place that has amazing flavors. They are only open between 11 and 4 but is totally worth going in for lunch.
I even did not get a chance to try ot, stuff asked me to go out and come back in 10 min. When you are hungree 10 min on the street is not what you want to do. 1* for greeting customers.
Had three sandwiches here and I have to say right off the bat that the bread is great. It’s fresh and has the perfect crust for a sandwich. I also really enjoyed the simplistic presentation of the sandwiches at this location. Really liked the meatball sandwich because of its authenticity. I tried their chicken sandwich which I found to be average. Also had the Jamaican patty sandwich , which was disappointing and didn’t taste like a Jamaican beef patty at all. I would re-visit this location to try their Porchetta sandwich for sure.
Four things on the menu and one was sold out, gave in to the hype to try it and was not impressed. 12$ for an 8 inch sandwich that had meat falling out. Really messy and inconvenient, also found a hair in my sandwich, should really use hair nets. Do not recommend, don't waste your time
Holy Crap that was a good lunch! Super food, great idea, friendly staff, funky decor. Best combo! Definitely recommend this place!
Finally got around to trying this place, after hearing nothing but rave reviews for a while now. Location is super convenient for the lunchtime downtown crowd. Decor is hip, seating limited but turnover seems to be pretty steady. Staff are super friendly, and the service speed is on par with a well-run fast food joint. Prices are a bit high for "just a sandwich", but it you just want cold cuts on bread, go to Subway. The meatball sandwich was wonderful - small bites of kale that didn't overpower the texture of the sandwich, a smooth and creamy parm aioli, a delicate gremolata that complimented the spices in the large meatballs. No bite was just bread, unlike some places that skimp on the meat. Bread is fresh, soft where it needs to be, but strong enough not to crumble under the weight of the meatballs. Dine in or get your sandwich to go. Will definitely be coming back.
Tried the Alberta Beef and have to say it was tasty; however, the portion is too small for the price I paid.
Checked out Meat and Bread for the first time yesterday; had the corned beef sandwich and kale Caesar salad; food was excellent, service very friendly and nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend
A great place to get a awesome sloppy sandwich bursting with flavor. The people who work there are super nice and the place is always hopping at lunch time.
No fuss delicious food. This is a place to go for a good sandwich and cool vibes. The decor is tastefully done but not too excessive.
A fantastic spot for a quick lunch break and an absolutely delicious sandwich. We tried the porchetta and the meatball sandwiches and both were so good I don't know how I'll choose between them next time. You won't find a huge menu selection here but Meat and Bread doesn't it because their small menu is all good.
Tasty sandwiches with rotating daily specials. Glad to see this Vancouver sandwich shop branching out west. Great bread and fillings.
I would say this is the perfect lunch spot, service is fast and friendly. Sandwiches are tasty, perfect meat to bread ratio and it's really good bread. We only tried the sandwiches when we were there but we plan on going back!
Amazing sandwiches!!!
Very good
Great sandwich!
Get the porchetta. Its amazing. This has been my husband's favorite since the first restaurant opened in Vancouver.
Expensive and sandwich had no flavour.
Delicious sandwiches, can't go wrong with any of them
One of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. Highly recommend the corned beef!
The bread is fantastic! I tried the Chicken and it was moist and tasty. It was messy to eat, but that's where the fun is! Fast service! We went here around 11:30 am to beat the lunch crowd. I'll definitely go back again to try the meatball.
Excellent! Tried the Alberta Beef and Porchetta: both excellent. Just wish there was more, and more comfortable, seating.
Good sandwiches, limited menu but what they do, they do well. Not the absolute best Porchetta sandwich I've had, but the meat was tender and the skin was crunchy as hell!
They ciabatta bread so is not sub or a normal sandwich the taste is very good I already taste the beef and the chicken sandwich and they were good. Is small the place is more to go also the to time that I went there is always a big line of people been they are fast.
I absolutely love Meat And Bread. All the staple sandwiches are to die for and their rotating special is always spectacular. The sandwiches are simple, delicious, and transcendent. Always get the soup.
Driving across Canada and this place was highly recommended. I had the Porchetta sandwich and never want a sandwich from anywhere else again. Definitely recommend it if you are passing through
Good fast stop for lunch. I've had almost every sandwich (+ specials) on the menu and everything is pretty good, but pricey for what you get. Beware of the chicken though, every time that I've purchased one of these there were small bones in it which aren't pleasant to bite down on at all. I'll probably be back, but I won't be getting anything with chicken ever again.
I really like the pork porchetta .... the crackling is excellent. Great staff as well.
Terrific lunch spot for folks that enjoy a good sandwich and maybe a bowl of homemade soup (today's soup was potato and it was superb). My favs are the Porchetta and the Meatball Friday special...whiners need not apply as they move the line quickly and efficiently and don't dick around with people wanting substitutions...good on em'
Very limited menu. Yes there are long lines, probably cause its a new place. I had the Porchetta which was good, but its just like chinese roasted pork with crackling but it has salsa verde. Staff were friendly and attentive but keep offering me to buy soup, but WHAT SOUP?? its not listed on the menu nor do they tell what the soup du jour is? Maybe I would buy it if someone told me what it was. So hopefully more signatures will come out, and maybe some sides but for now I can save my $9.50 for something else.
I tried Buffalo chicken sandwich and it tasted great. Nice staff and great location
I've been before in Vancouver and really liked it. I don't know if the Calgary location is a franchise or whatever but the porchetta sandwich noticeably smaller and more importantly the first 2 bites were all fat, like quarter and dime sized chunks. I ended up hauling 7 pieces of straight fat out of the sandwich. I understand porchetta is fatty and that helps with the flavour and keeps everything moist but this was a bit much
I ducked in this place because of the rain. Stayed when I saw the porchetta sandwich being carved. It was so good I returned for lunch every day that I was in Calgary. It's always good to be home but I miss Meat & Bread the most.
The sandwiches are to die for. Always so very good. Staff is friendly. Such a great place to go
Certainly a fan of this place. Friendly staff, and they move quick so even if this place is lined up out the door, don't worry you'll be in and out in no time. One thing I'd love for this place to consider is perhaps selling a pickle to go with the sandwich. Definitely a fan of a limited menu as well (minus the pickle).
Definitely will come back. Got corn beef and porchetta today, pork skin so crispy! More than expected!
Food was amazing! Ambiance was wonderful. Little busier than I unusually like at lunch and not inexpensive but worth it. Very well thought out and executed.
Great sandwiches
I have been eating at Meat and Bread since they open at Cambie and Hastings in Vancouver. They have steadily expanded and entered the Calgary market to my delight. Nowadays. I no longer have to visit Vancouver when I craved their notoriously famous and delicious Porchetta sandwich. That's the signature sandwich and the go-to meal if you are here for the first time. Ironically, they ran out of Porchetta sandwiches when we dropped by. We decided to give their Banh Mi sandwhich a try. While it definitely highlights some of the features of a traditional Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich, it still is no comparison to the Porchetta sandwich they offer. I'll have to be back again to grab a Porchetta sandwich!
Delicious food!
Looking for a solid sandwich in downtown Calgary definitely stop at Meat and Bread. The pork sandwich is amazing!! The chunks of crackling diced into the sandwich is unreal. Thanks again Meat and Bread see you again soon!!
A daily variety of soup, salad and sandwiches will keep you coming back. It's price point is a little high, but most of the time, what you get is delicious. If you are vegetarian, or have any dietary restrictions, this probably isn't the best place for you. Staff is super nice and there is plenty of seating outside of the lunch hour. Accessible mainly by transit. It's good to check the website ahead of time to see what is on offer daily.
I had the Porchetta Sandwich last week Friday at the Downtown Calgary location. It tasted delicious. I got one for a friend too and he thoroughly enjoyed it. It reminded me of one I had in Rome the last time I visited. So good! So why 3 Stars? The service: The sandwich artist was very dismissive and condescending. We felt rushed. He wasn't paying attention to our orders and made me feel as though I didn't belong there. My friend also felt the same energy. It would be such a shame if such lovely food is compromised by bad customer relations. I am hoping it was just a one off thing and I would feel more welcomed next time I visit. Again: Great Sandwich! Delicious!!!!
Love this place. Working my way thru the menu and so far its all just thee best!
Delicious bread good meat awesome price
BEST EGGPLANT PARM I'VE EVER HAD! Even the biggest carnivores will love this one! Fail? Far from..... Delish!
They make great sandwiches.
I've heard very good things about this establishment. If I gain my freedom, it's on my must try list.
Jerk chicken is the way to go!
My favourite place to get lunch on a weekday. The Pancetta is SO GOOD.
Yummy, quick eats ! Dont have any complaints, seems like they run out of ingredients fast though. Staff were very friendly and personable, i like that they only have a few choices makes it easy to get in and out.
Good food. Fast service. No where to sit
Great fresh sandwich’s name says it all. Cut the roast right in front of you and throw it on some fresh baked bread
delicious
Stopped by and got the classic porchetta with the habanero and cilantro dip. It really is an excellent sandwich, with great flavour and healthy portion size. Having a spot like this in Calgary is awesome. I'd be more frequent if they sold sandwiches for $10.
Meat and Bread is one of the best Calgary sandwich destinations. The regular menu will always delight and the rotating choices are stellar. The first time you go, get the meatball sandwich! The owner is often in there and always looking after the customers with a big smile on his face. The soup is also an often overlooked, but is an awesome choice. Our team frequents there due to proximity to the office, but I'd make a trip to grab a bite. 5 stars.
My wife and I shared a meatball and a buffalo chicken today. Some of the best flavors I've ever had in a sandwich. Will be back for sure!
The food here is amazing, and the staff make it seem like you are the only person in the place, highly recommend you go here if you find yourself in the area.
So good! You have not lived life until you have had one of their meats and or breads!
Yessss! That’s a sandwich Good price good quality Nice setting
Always delicious. My best friend and I usually split one of our regular go to's and one of the rotating specials. Went for the steak special. Very tasty creation with potato matchsticks piled on top for some nice texture. Porchetta is a must and a staple. Meatball is my second go to. If you like a really great, super satisfying, no fuss but gourmet sandwich, give meat and bread a try.
The porchetta is up there with my favorite sandwiches of all time, a must. I did not realize there was a location in Calgary (have been to the locations in Vancouver), but this one has the same great food and service. Very highly recommended!
If you want a simple but very delicious meal this is the place for you. Basically a few sandwich options that all look great. I had a turducken sandwich and some soup. Highly recommended seasonal special. The interior of the store is warm and clean. Reminds me of an old school deli. I will be going again for lunch in the future.
Excellent restaurant. The sandwiches are very tasty and the service is personalized and very attentive.
The best place to get a hot sandwich in downtown Calgary!
This place lives up to the hype however, I find some sandwiches are much better than the others, I only order the porchetta now. They manage their line very well, and have plenty of staff to make sure it’s a smooth process for the customer. My only wish is for a cheaper menu; I usually leave hungry and feeling a little broke. Cheaper sides or bigger sandwich would make me a happy/returning customer.
Was in Calgary for the day walked in after a leg workout and asked them for a recommendation! They gave me the most flavourful meat balls sub I've ever had! Thanks guys I'll be back
Rudest owner ever
First and foremost, the staff aren’t just nice they’re enthusiastic and make it a pleasure to step foot in this place. The food though? Oh the food. Tried the porchetta and corned beef, absolutely superb. Perfect amount of food too. 10/10 would go again
(Translated) Om name name name name name !!!! I dream about these sandwiches! (Original) Om nom nom nom nom nom !!!! I dream about these sandwiches!
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, great sandwiches!
Absolutely love food! The name describes it perfectly, meat and bread. The bread was delicious and the meat was flavorful beyond compare!! Would absolutely recommend. Picture features the corned beef sandwich! I was in love at first bite.
Good, tasty, healthy-sized, portions and fast service.
Amazing staff, fast paced environment with cool vibes.
Name says it all. Come here and get a tasty Sammich. I had the meatball and wasn't disappointed. Perfect size for lunch, anything bigger would be too much.
Too pricey for such a small sandwich. Just go to Thai Thai instead.
(Translated) Very good! (Original) Muito bom!
The sandwich was okay but not my type
One of the best lunch spots in the city. Delicious beyond belief. Quick service. Very friendly staff, and hearty fare.
I’ve been wanting to check this place out for a while and I’m glad I finally did! I got the Buffalo chicken sandwich and it was very tasty and reasonably priced. Would recommend giving this place a try!
Always so delicious!!!! Best Meatball Sandwich I've ever had!
Great sandwiches, only down sides is not much of a. Selection...which wouldn't bother me if the had a roast beef sandwich. They don't...
The menu is small, but when five our of six things sound great - well, these folks are onto something. My partner said that Jason's meatball was the best he had ever eaten! My pulled pork was also great. The bread makes every sandwich specual. The staff are very friendly and hopeful. I will definitely go back when I'm in Calgary again.
Amazing sandwiches ????
Came in for a sandwich. I had ordered the corned beef sandwich, which was okay. The flavours were rather two dimensional, and I think more could be done to enhance the flavour of the sandwich--though I'm not a chef, just a person with preferences. Staff was nice. Nothing particular to say about them, but I'll drop by again to see if my opinion changes.
Always amazing food. Great, friendly, fast service. One of the best sandwiches you can get in downtown Calgary.
Great lunch spot. Good food and quick service!
I go to this great little hidden gem often. I get the meatball sub with extra sauce. It’s the best meatball sandwich I’ve ever had! Highly recommend!! Friendly staff and great little vibe. Love this place.
This is a great gem in downtown Calgary. Don’t be picky and don’t be a vegetarian. The name says it all. They prepare 4 daily meat choices on one type of bread. The choices they had when we went were porchetta, meatball, BBQ beef and a roasted chicken. Sandwiches are served warm on a plank board with a sauce for dipping. There is always one soup and one salad of the day ($4 each) as an optional add-on. The food is quick and fresh. Everything is prepared in-house and made daily. The service is hip, friendly, and fast. Don’t be worried if you see a weekday line up out the door during the lunch rush. You’ll be through it in no time.
Quick and delicious sandwiches.
A trendy atmosphere, very friendly staff, a damn good sandwich and a reasonable price. Need some lunch? You've found the spot.
Excellent as always
Great place for a quick lunch. Fresh, delicious sandwiches!
The best - the name says it all! Super sandwiches and soups everyday. The only problem with the porchetta is that you have to keep going back for more! I visit almost every time I go to Calgary.
Simple menu with Great Sandwiches. ???? Great place for lunch!
Loved, loved the pork and crackling sandwich. Not a lot of seating. But very yummy food.
Been here twice and its expensive but also the best sandwiches ive had in the city by far. Good investment.
Really good food. Porchetta is to die for. A little pricey.
My new favourite lunch spot!
Love the sandwiches here!
Great place for a sandwich, portions are a little small. But flavour is great
Food is really good but also simple in a nice way, too expensive.
Great sandwich, but $10 is too much for a simple, small sandwich. Not filling enough on its own.
I've eaten a lot of sandwiches. And I think the Porchetta sandwich here may be the best I've had. Get their house made mustard too. Super good
The name says it all! This place keeps its menu simple and to the point. The sandwiches were excellent and the soup even better. It has a great location and the seats along the window are great to watch the world go by while you savour all the wonderful flavours in your sandwich! Super efficient service, food came out hot and quickly. Easy place to go for a good bite on a lunch break.
Not sure what the fuss is about. Small sandwiches for $10+. Had the porchetta, which I accept to be somewhat fatty however the whole thing was overly oily; didn't feel so good after.
I've been to the one in Vancouver and this one is equally great. Food on point, staff are excellent and atmosphere is great.
Quality meat and flavorful. Great variety of sandwiches to choose.
Quality food, fast service, friendly staff
Highly recommend the porketta sandwich with a bowl of soup and a locally crafted soda. Great spot for a quick lunch .
Premium sandwiches that are slightly pricier than your average downtown sandwich fare; $10-12 range. Rich, flavourful and fresh. The venue is fairly small, so I'd advise against bringing a big crowd.
Best sandwich shop in Calgary!
Food is outstanding, for lunch could have been a little more food
So glad they finally opened up a Calgary location. love their sandwiches!!
I should have gone sooner. I really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and I will definitely be going back soon.
Luv this place....great staff... always remember to cut my sandwich in half.
I went in planning to order the Buffalo chicken sandwich. But then I got tempted by the Philly Cheesesteak. Boy did they nail it! There is no shortage of toppings, including of course, the beef. I found it a bit pricey, but worth it for a self-treat. I'll be trying the Buffalo chicken on my next visit to compare...
Porchetta sandwich paired with throwback tunes, lovely staff, and people watching on 9th Ave. Awesome lunch spot :) I am stuffed!
Love this place. Stopped in for lunch. Loved it! The hot sauce they make in house has me wanting more, I ordered a sandwhich and finished it in like 2min I didn’t want to put it down. Staff was awesome. I will be back!
Simple, fresh ingredients. Well priced, quick and friendly service.
Some of the best meat sandwiches in town
Busy popular place. Good meat, but pricey. Also no substitution, even when you don't want it (it wasn't mixed it in with anything, just thrown on). It's "how they roll", which was silly phrase to say to a potential customer. I'll not be going back, due to price and customer service

Exceptionally great sandwiches! How does bread get this good and pair so well with meat in such a simple way to make a standout sandwich? Whatever they are doing here, they are doing it very well! Friendly staff and great little corner store location that feels like something you find in a much older, larger city. This is a place that you'll definitely want to revisit.
Good. Bread was okay, meat filling was flavorful and warm. Small sandwich shop with some seating available (~15 seats?), but more of a get and go type of place. Sandwich was more on the pricey size for a 6"($10 for the Alberta Beef), that being said it was filling and was a good portion size for lunch. I would go back.
(Translated) A really good sandwich bread directly cooked in the oven egueun (Original) 오븐에구은 빵에 바로요리한 샌드위치 정말 맛있어요
I've heard a lot about this place so I had to try it. And it was pretty delicious. The menu is very small just a few items. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwhich and had a ginger beer pop with it. It cost $20. That's outrageous. The sandwhich was good but had chicken and a carrot/cabbage slaw so not to many ingredients. Too hipster for me. I won't be back way to expensive for the same price you could have a larger meal anywhere on Stephen Ave. There wasn't any indication why the price was so high. I'm assuming the chickens were hand raised and fed the best foods free range or something. But if you enjoy over priced foods this place might be 5 stars for you. I also hope they hand baked the bread for that price as well. Over all it was ok but not worth the price.
The name says it all so it's not for everyone. But if you can handle bread and you like your meat this is the place to go in the heart of downtown. Good selection. Daily special. Modern interior and friendly staff. Grab and go an option.
I was BEYOND excited when I learned there was a Meat And Bread in Calgary. I visited one in Vancouver a few years ago and have been dreaming about their sandwiches ever since. The first time I went in the staff was a little rude but I haven’t had any issues since. It gets quite noisy in the eating area when it’s busy but in my opinion, the sandwiches are so good it’s worth any inconvenience. I would still go if they threw the sandwich at my head and played kidsbop on the speakers all day.
Never had a bad sandwich. They need to work on some of their sauces though.
Fantastic sandwiches with unbeatable service. Top tier and fully recommend, especially with the constantly changing specials.
Best sandwich ever!! That will become a tradition on my trips in Calgary.
Fresh bread, great toppings, so messy but worth 4 napkins. Also love Annex ale sodas!
Best in the city!
Best sandwiches in the city. The favorite staples are always on the menu (like porchetta and meatball), and then there is a daily special sandwich, soup, and salad. Best place for a quick or leisurely lunch.
Great place for a quick lunch!
Amazing porchetta sandwich!
Amazing food.
Porchetta sandwich is very good. Super friendly staff !! Meat and Bread what can go wrong ?
The sandwiches are sooooooo good. Worth the price. I'm not located nearby, so I've only been a few times. The porchetta is yummmma. The soup is really disappointing. I had chicken noodle. It was chicken water, carrots, and some macaroni. Really not worth the $4.50. Just get the sandwiches.
Fast service, delicious sandwich, nice decor
So happy they finally came to Calgary! Food is amazing!
Go get the steak frites! It's on right now. It's a true steak sandwich, you will not be disappointed. Beyond that they have some pretty amazing sandwiches (meatball and porchetta among others) the staff are awesome and friendly!
Awesome sandwiches, must try!
Good spot for quick bite. Small menu which makes it easy to pick. Fun vibe and good local soft drink options. The chicken blt sandwich i got was so fresh and warm, exactly what i needed. One complaint the sandwich fell apart easy, ended up eating a 1/4 of my sandwich with my fingers. I dont mind that but wasn't sure that was the experience they were going for.
Love the sandwiches here. Its the simplicity and taste that makes it a very good place to grab lunch. Simple/straightforward pricing (reasonable pricing based on what youre getting and the quality) and clear menu. Everything is fresh and not overly salty but flavourful. A unique sandwich shop with specialty one day offerings too. Its all about the hot sandwiches here and theres nothing like it in yyc. Spacious yet eating area can get filled quick.
Amazing spot for a sandwich. Very tasty ingredients and just enough to hit the spot during lunch. Even though there was a line up, service was super quick. Easy to carry boxes to bring the yummy food back to the office. Will definitely be coming back!
Always out of porchatta!
At the calgary location several months ago, I recieved a sandwich that had extra ingredients that I don't care for added to my sandwich that were not listed on either the website or the menu board in store. When I got back to the office, I noticed those extra ingredients were added and I returned to the store to get my sandwich remade without the extra ingredients, at the time I expressed my displeasure at the extra ingredients to the staff working and the fact that they were not listed. The staff remade my sandwich without issue and offered me a refund which I declined and I went on my way. However today while walking past the store, the franchise owner came running out across the street to confront me about "yelling" at his staff (something that i did not do at the time) even though I was clearly unhappy at the time. and essentially told me that if I got upset again I would be banned from the store. I feel this was completely unnecessary, very unprofessional, and has significantly soured my feelings on both returning to the restaurant, and recommending it further to people in the future. When I left the store yesterday, I was very happy with the customer service, and now the followup confrontation has left me very upset. I've downgraded my review to 1 star as no acknowledgement from corporate or anybody at the company regarding this issue has come forth to spite me emailing them .
Delicious. A little messy to eat.
Dang good sando ! Every single time I go I wonder why I don't go more. Let's make this a resolution , eat more sandwiches.... Super cute place inside too, awesome , friendly staff, make this place your next lunch.... Mmmm sssandwichessss
The menu at this restaurant is small (4 options) which is great because they do each one so well. Great place to grab a bite for lunch on a Tuesday.
The place is clean. The food is delicious & the tacos by CONMITACO every Tuesday, Friday & Saturday are amazing
Really enjoyed lunch today! I liked the ambience, and the sandwich was prepared fast, and was delish... also reasonably priced. The only reason no 5 star...it didn't look like the tables had been wiped. Looking forward to going back and trying out another sandwich!
I really like these sandwiches! The bread is so soft and delicious and the meats are always tender and juicy and flavorful. The side mustard is fantastic too! The decoration of the place is very nice. The service is nice too, they always welcome you with a smile. The only thing is that this place is not cheap and the sandwich is not that big. They do offer soup or salad as a side, but with that and a beverage you are paying 20$ for a lunch.
The tacos here are out of this world
Quick service, decent food but way overpriced for what you get.
Damn, that's a good sandwich.
Amazing sandwiches
First off, I love the name of this place! Meat & Bread. No BS just direct and straight to the point. The sandwiches here are fantastic!! The corn beef sandwich was definitely amazing and for anybody who wants a simple and yet delicious …
Fast service good people
Very tasty! I had the meatball sandwich and would definitely get it again
My porchetta sandwich was pretty good, seemed fresh and high quality, although I think there are better tasting sandwiches around for the price. That said, the atmosphere was great. Beautiful space with huge windows and great seating. Staff was very friendly, I recommend paying a visit.
I love this place. Good Meat! Good Bread! Nuff said!
First visit. I ordered the Chicken BLT to go. When I got to my destination, I discovered that the bacon was missing. I was disappointed until I started to eat the sandwich. The sandwich was outstanding. It was easily the best chicken sandwich I've had in a long time and will return very soon.
Amazing spot for a quick lunch. The meatball sandwich is worth coming in for on a day off. Daily Specials always rotating, always something good for any palette!
Incredibly tasty and filling. The Sandwich LOOKED small for the price, but I found it tricky finishing my meatball sub I Was so full. Little tricky finding a time to go during the hours though.
Excellent. Friendly staff, fresh ingredients, great tasting sandwiches.
The porchetta sandwich here is amazing. It is so tender and goes well with the mustard-like sauce. Great place to get lunch if you work in downtown Calgary.
Always sold out when I get there.
Awesome...
Delicious sandwiches. Great place to stop for a quick bite. Friendly staff.
Great service!!!!! Great food!!! Perfect for lunch
• ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????? $12 Delicious w/ homade Buffalo sauce on a ciabata buns.This corner store really pack a big taste indeed …
Excellent balance between the meat bread and toppings, fresh crusted bread, fresh ingredients you can taste the quality. Perfect place for lunch.
Excellent food
Best sandwhich i ve ever had. Going back again
Hip lunch spot serving exactly what the name suggests. The porchetta sandwich is a good bet - perfectly tender and fatty chunks of seasoned pork with crunchy cracklings and a (garlicky?) salsa verde.
Gd food might have to change the boards to differ wood
Really like the sandwiches... The flavours were awesome... We ordered the porchetta and the meat ball, both delicious... One little thing I did wish at the time... It could be a little warmer!!
Delicious sandwiches! The bread was perfect and the porchetta was perfectly fatty and tasty. Upbeat and friendly staff too. Great spot for a quick, tasty, and reasonably priced lunch.
Sure it's a pricy sandwich, but it's a damn good one.
I was excited to hear that Meat & Bread was opening up in Calgary. I had gone to check it out in Vancouver last summer and I loved it. Unfortunately, I felt disappointed when I went yesterday. The biggest thing I noticed was that the sandwiches were noticeabley smaller than the Vancouver counterpart. When I finished, I still felt like I was hungry. I was hoping the sandwich to be served on a stone slab like in Vancouver with the dollop of spicy mustard on the side. Instead I got a small box, which seemed wasteful because I was eating in the resteraunt. Fortunately, the quality of the sandwich was still there. Everything from the bread to the dressing on the sandwich and the meat were all awesome. I recommend to go for quality and taste, but if you re really hungry, I suggest go elsewhere.
Yummy sandwiches!
The place is very modern inside and looks good, food is served on a cutting board, seating is pleasant. All servers are great, there are plenty of flavourful options, food is really tasty but it is pricy, and not as satiated as you would think for a $12 sandwich. Great service that was fast too!
I love sandwiches and this place has great sandwiches. Very friendly staff too.
Amazing high quality gourmet sandwiches that are worth the $.
Love the porchetta sandwich. Also to mention cool chef's here are just awesome????????
Great sandwiches
Meatball sandwich is to die for. If you get a chance to try the pulled pork jalapeno Mac n cheese it's amazing. If those aren't your style try the Italian stallion amazing sausage on hand crafted artesian bread
Their sandwiches are quite delicious and the service here is quick. It is obvious that they have had much experience perfecting their service. Even though it gets lined out the door it doesn't feel like a long delay at all. The Tomato soup is definitely better than anywhere else! The restaurant is clean and simple. If they wanted to improve their system at all they should have some nice close up photos of their sandwiches to entice their customers. I believe there are only 4 or 5 selections so it should be easy to display each one.
Fantastic. Will gp again and again.
A New York style kind of lunch spot in downtown Calgary. It was my first time here a couple weeks back, as there was a quick break from months of freezing temperature, decided to head out to browse for a lunch. Found this spot around the corner of 8th Ave and 1st. A place to grab and go or just a canteen style place to grab a quick lunch before heading back to work. The sandwiches were quite interesting and the combinations all sound amazing. I had The porchetta and it was crispy and kind of like Asian BBQ pork. The rind was just like a chip, not too heavy, just the right amount of tenderness. The paired salsa was just the right flavor to lighten the pork. It's 10$ for a sandwich which is pretty standard now a days for good quality meats. The closest thing similar would be the butcher and baker in bow valley square. Portions are definitely not huge like subway, more like a Timmy's panini size. If you want something different and would like a stroll through downtown. Definitely check this place out.
One the best Porchetta sandwiches I've had in a long time. Flavours reminded me of some of the samples I had during a trip through Italy.
Great food. Everything on the menu is delicious. The only issue with this place is the lack of seating. During busy times it can be challenging to find a seat. Don't overlook the salads or soups. They are usually great.
