I really like the products and service here. My only complaint is the size. I really believe they could use a bigger store for their building materials. And a better or bigger yard! I wish that we could take care of their business well enough that they could see that! I come here first when I think building or repairs. These guys are great! Very helpful and they actually do a good job with the space they have. I am very pleased to have them in our town! I encourage every one to shop here if they can!

A little piece of plastic that doesn't even cover your nose or mouth is not a mask. Not sure how the cashier can get away with wearing something like that. Especially when she pulls it down to speak anyway. Doesn't instill much confidence in their safety measures during a global pandemic. But hey, Covid is nothing but a "government scam" right? That was sarcasm by the way.

Despite their excellent selection, and knowledgeable staff, they have stuff that's a bit pricey, although I find online shopping to be much more economical. I spent a little time there, and the restrooms are very, very super clean, as well as the store as a whole.

We moved here 2 months ago and have already visited this HH location 6+ times. Everyone I've dealt with at the store has been very personable. Tonight I raced in after work and despite arriving right on closing time, the staff all helped me with a smile and a friendly chat Thank you!

Very nice store with a selection of items that you cannot find in the big box stores. I searched all over for a specific product, and no one carried it, and it was not available online either...what a surprise to find it in a local store. A bit of a drive, but it was worth it.

Good place to pick up hardware and tool selection is decent. Lumber is a bit pricey but better than going into city. Staff are knowledgeable and very friendly.

Went in ordered 25 10 foot sticks of rebar was told to.goto the yard for pick-up and there was no rebar in stock had to arrange a refund which will likely take 3 days to process. Also the printer jams every single time. This being the only home improvement store in Cochrane is very unfortunate.

Found parking quickly and near the door parking lot was well maintained. Entrance was well organized and uncluttered. The stores layout was efficient and items easy to find. Store clerks were visible and easy to find and when approached informative and polite. Did not find what I was looking for since the item was sold out. Convenient location and will return in the future.

Convenient location, friendly staff and tons of variety of hardware items, kitchen utensils, building supplies and just about anything you might need to maintain or renovate your home. Ordering supplies is made easy by the staff at the help desk and it is convenient to pull into the back where the yardies will help you load up. It would be great to see the same staff and stock in a slightly bigger store but they have managed to fit everything you need in this convenient downtown location.

This store is where I go first, if you have ever gone to the big box stores as a contractor it seems they are missing a ton of normal hard ware choices, and lately I've been noticing that these places act like they are in the states, the prices on a lot of things like bolts and screws brackets, etc are all way more money than here at home hardware. It's like they have the best prices on screws, bolts, nails, most brackets, a lot of the paint prices are good. Their lumber is more than fair, they have a decent tool selection and from what I've bought here the prices are ok the tools are fair, you can get a better deal at other places if a sale is on, but generally they are marketable. I really try to patronize this store Because the owners are Albertans and to be frank, I'm tired of the Americans trying to take things over because of our dollar. These people are locals, and I've always been treated well, and in reasonable time at the service desk. You can be fairly certain to find a lot more Canadian products here.

It’s great that smaller chains like this still exist in these towns where Canadian Tires and Walmarts are slowly starting to invade. But if you’re going to survive in that kind of environment you need to have good staff. My interaction with “Debbie” today was probably one of the poorest customer service experiences I’ve had in a while. I couldn’t find what I was looking for on the shelf even though I found its place and their website said there was stock. In an effort to know more I went looking for a staff member and found Debbie. She was stocking some products on the shelf in the paint isle and when I asked her about it she didn’t really seem to care but also seemed reluctant to help. Maybe she was having a bad day? But still when I asked her questions about when they might get more stock she just didn’t seem keen to want to provide solutions, and really didn’t seem to care about her job. I was even curious if she knew how often the website updated inventory (in case i just missed out and someone bought it before me), she basically told me “i have no idea” in a way that said she didn’t even care. I was courteous and polite the entire time, but I shouldn’t have to leave a store feeling like I inconvenienced an employee by asking a couple of simple questions. I rarely write reviews, but having to drive 45 minutes in from the country and her demeanour kinda warranted one.

website showed lots of stock of the many things i was there to get. not one was stocked. when asking the sale associate a question they were very rude and not very helpfully. its definitely worth your time to drive into calgary.

Since HHW has been a longtime store in Cochrane, I feel some loyalty to go there first. However, it is so frustrating to look on-line, see that they have a product in stock, only to arrive at the store and be told that they haven't had that product in months. Is it that difficult to update the on-line inventory? And if it is too difficult - ditch the website completely. I'd rather shop where the store has what they say they have.

Every time I stepped foot in there the staff were knowledgeable, super helpful and easy to deal with. I will be back for sure!

Looking for a replacement clamp flashlight for summer camp. Very limited availability through all stores. Its.a hard to find item and this store had a few which was good. Also got another small one. Glad theres an alternative to Canadian Tire close even if its in Cochrane!

Terrible customer service. Went to get a few pieces of 2x4’s in various lengths and they had only 1 single board in stock.The employee didn’t know when the next shipment was being delivered. How does a town of 30k people and a lumber yard not have stock or other options for building materials!? Went to Calgary for the supplies. Don’t bother shopping here. Waste of time. So unfortunate too!

This is a great store and location, well stocked and comparable with Canadian Tire and other local stores. However each time I go in the store it is like a hostile experience, no one acknowledges you as you walk in the front doors and to have one of the experienced staff members show an interest or offer help. Don’t waste your time. Prices on the display are only a guide as when you check out with your purchase you will find the the till price is different, always a dollar more.... The yard people are always the most attentive and willing to help load your purchases to you vehicle. They do a steady trade with local trades and builders but aren’t interested in the Cochrane DIY’er.

Terrible service in general. Employees give you the impression you are not welcome. The cashiers are limit rude with no smile. If you have the bad idea to ask questions about what you are trying to fix at home they don't even try to understand what the problem is and give you an answer that doesn't even address the issue just to make you buy something to get rid of you. It happened to me EVERY TIME I went there. Will NEVER, EVER, step foot in this store again. One star is one too many. Oh... One more thing: they hate people speaking with an accent...

I rarely find what I need. Staff are friendly sometimes. And just bizarre hours, seriously closed at 5:00? What about people who work? 2 might be generous but they might be a bit better than a 1 i dunno, if your actually gonna build something go to a home depot or Rona.

I’m being generous with 2 stars. Main reason the hours of operation, they close at 5pm. So unless you’re retired, unemployed or maybe work shift work etc. It’s impossible to get to if you work and especially in the city. Also not the greatest customer service, no wonder Canadian Tire and others get more business.

Drive 20 mins to Home Depot Tuscany for 2x4x8’s 1/2 the price. Customer service in Cochrane is also terrible and everyone I know from friends, family and neighbours refuse to go there because of the staff and product prices. No greeting, no help unless you track someone down IF you can find someone, and the lumber desk staff are unfriendly and dismissive. I won’t be back.

I tried to return some unopened items. To exchange them for the right size. Impossible because of the COVID-19 ... I find it hard to believe that an exchange is impossible when the biggests store do it. there is still access in the store where everyone touches everything. The restaurants and almost everything opens this week ... there are no cases in cochrane now. There has been no mention by the government to change the consumer protection laws for the crisis ... in addition to the mood of the cashier that remained to be desired. This is the last time I'm going there.

I purchased a new septic pump last week and when I got it home, it was damaged right out of the box. Needless to say I was frustrated as I had to drive all the way back (45 minutes each way) to do an exchange. When I got to the store they didn't have the sames model but a more expensive one. Rick and his team graciously gave me a discount on the more expensive pump to make up for my lost time. It's not often you get this great service anymore, definitely not at the large box stores, and I wanted to make a point of thanking them for this.

This is an 'okay' place to shop or pick up parts. The parking is terrible and the lumber yard is worse. They say they can order everything you need, but typically I need things when I show up, not 2 days from then. I default to using this place because there's simply no competition in town. This is one of the downsides living in a small town. I wish they had a better facility then it might make it a little ore enjoyable, but until then I'll remain frustrated and curse under my breath everytime I go!
