Friendly staff and a reasonable selection of cuts. The grocery selections are unique and compliment the meat counter well. Pricing is well within acceptable range, though both always cheap. Ground beef is usually on par with local grocery stores, but poultry is usually higher. Pork is a good deal, and well supplied. I'm in there nearly every week and have yet to leave unhappy.

Great butcher shop and deli and fantastic place to go for a delicious sandwich. My only knock is that the prices are a bit high, however, this seems to be in line with the direction that all grocery prices are heading.

Tried them out for the first time today. We normally travel 3 hours to go to a Hutterite colony outside of Edmonton. We care about our food. The quality and cost is important to making a family and a budget work. We wanted to check out the steaks primarily but will now go again for more items. We bought some ribeyes and t-bones. Cooked them up and they were delicious. Their prices were competitive. Under 20/lb for Ribeye which is between 3-5 dollars less than other places. What was most impressive was how well run the place was. People were happy to be at work and serving customers. The lady in charge was professional, personable and engaging. Really excited to return.

Used to be one of my go to lunch places but has went way downhill. The sandwiches used to be piled with lots of meat , now you get 2 or 3 thin slices of meat on a sandwich that costs over $10. We ordered in for work the other day and numerous coworkers commented the same and that its off their lunch place list. Too bad , used to be so good.

Have come here several times to see if they have sliced pepperoni for pizza and I'm always told they are out. Also carried a pizza sauce I really liked but the last time I came it was out of stock so I left with no purchases because there was no meat pizza toppings or sauce.

The store itself is wonderful. Great selection and easy to find what you're looking for; however some of the employees need an attitude adjustment. My boyfriend and I went shopping last night for some sandwich meat with about an hour left until the store was closed. As soon as we walked in we got a blank stare from the cashier as she proceeded to ignore us. The same girl was very judgmental, making fun of ( very loudly ) a customer that just left the building, laughing at his facial hair and the way he dressed. With that experience we could only wonder what she was going to say about us when we left. Needless to say, go closer to the morning or opening time, a lot of the other staff are super friendly and willing to help.

Before change of ownership they had the best quality meats in town as well as best prices on meats. Now they over price their bison and have upped the prices to an unreasonable amount. The ground bison, as well as extra lean ground beef seems to have fillers. I'm no longer impressed with this and will start purchasing meat elsewhere.

Best service amd staff ever i love this place and am super stoked that we have one in town. I had wagyu beef actual wagyu beef from their shop best steak of my life i wish i bought more. The food is unbelievable and soooo fresh the quality is really next level

I used to frequent Big Bend a lot for lunch several years ago. I found the sandwiches to be excellent and a great value for your lunch dollar - if I remember correctly they used to be around $6. We used to tell everyone about the great sandwiches. They always had a big selection of inviting salads and treats in the front display. I liked how the deli meat was on display for you to look and choose which one you wanted that day. The bread was always amazing and nice and thick with several options for the day. I went in today for a sandwich and was quite disappointed to find the format has changed. The meat selections are now written on an unfriendly board, there were a couple of salads in the empty-ish display (it was 12:20pm). The cashier was trying (unsuccessfully) to convince me this "new way" was so much better. I ordered my sandwich - for $10+ and had to go to the dark back to select the toppings. The bread was much thinner than I remembered, they did not freshly cut the meat, she took a wrapped up small portion and put it on the bread - I remember the meat being very generous portions and would expect so at over $10. I won't be going back anytime soon. When you can look at the variety of meats and bread and watch it being sliced up fresh, it really sets the stage for a great experience.

They have a great selection of fresh locally raised meats, deli meats, cheeses condiments etc. This is one of my favorite places to buy groceries!

First off, the sandwiches are fantastic! However, we always make a point of stopping by here on our way through town. We checked Google to make sure they were still open, otherwise we had no need to travel through red deer at all. We arrived well before closing and we're told that the sandwich shop is closed, they close an hour before the store does. Very disappointing considering we needed 6 sandwiches to go and drove through town to get there!

Got 4 sandwiches at the deli counter. Both the workstation and the worker were disorganized and several mistakes were made. I’ll probably come back another time because my sandwich was tasty and had very fresh ingredients.

Dishonest. I contacted Big Bend Market South to do some custom meat cutting for me (bone-in chuck steaks cut 1/4" thick) and they said they couldn't do it because their fingers would get too close to the saws. I guess they've never heard of using the guide on the band-saw. I complained to the Better Business Bureau, and Big Bend then admitted they could do this for me, but have since not returned my calls or emails since then. Avoid these people and go to Messinger Meats instead.

Went to the north store in Red Deer and got excellent service. Looked all over for a nice brisket and couldn’t find one until I was told about Big Bend. Got exactly what I asked for and it was trimmed up perfectly. Thanks Big Bend, I’ll be back.

Wish I could give them a 5, like to support local. Ground beef is very good, pork products not so much. Purchased bacon & it went bad 3 weeks prior to the expiration date, they kindly exchanged it but the same thing happened again, doesn't seem like they smoke their bacon. Just took 2 loin chops out of the freezer this morning for cooking tonight & once again they are both rotten. Disappointing.

Got to say excellent staff this evening going back tomorrow for a fresh ribeye steak and prime rib roast. Now that they have their new owners from what I experienced all problems solved. I was late getting there and still got perfect professional service and a knowledgeable staff member. I will post again tomorrow after I spend some more money there.

Oh my god. I walked in here, thinking I could grab a pre-made sandwich. But she said...no.....but I can make u one. And that's when it all started, pick your meat, bread(best rye I've ever had), mustard/mayo...epic, and all the toppings. Best sandwich I've ever had. If I lived in red deer, I would come here every day for lunch. And it's a deli, so get all the fresh cut meat u Want, and all sorts of thing's.
