Literally my favourite place in Halifax right now! Staff is always super cool, friendly and courteous. The food is incredibly good and, honestly, innovative! If you miss anything from pre-vegan life, Real Fake Meats can absolutely fill any voids you might have. Cheese, bacon, anything that made you say "I could never go vegan, I'd miss ___ too much", they got it! And it's actually so good!! Halifax is lucky to have them!

We visited Halifax Aug 2019 and came across this plant-based butcher shop. Lovely vibes, awesome selection of plant-based food and the entire experience was amazing. The seitan (fake meat) in their donair was surprisingly flavourful and moist. They happily vacuum-packed items for us to take back home. Really wished there was a place like this in Alberta.

Wow! The fresh food was really fantastic! The service was friendly and social distance well maintained. I'm impressed at the low prices of the vegan options. I suggest not getting their fake cheddar brick cheese though, it was a weird beast unlike any cheese I've ever had. Squishy and uncomfortable. If you're vegan and haven't had cheese in a long time it might be fine, but the goatless cheese was much closer to the real thing. I'm really excited to try the vegan ribs, so we'll see how it goes!

My roommate and I went today for the first time! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Only downside is the person working was really unfriendly which put a damper on things. Judging from the other reviews this sounds like that is unusual though so it was probably just an off day!

I had a serious donair problem before I became a vegetarian and often dream about donairs which made me sad cause those dream don’t come true. Well no more sadness: this is the real deal - these vegan donairs satisfy that hole in my heart. The shaved meat tastes just like the real thing, the seasoning is tasty and the sauce - don’t let the coconut sway you: it’s pretty incredible and now I believe that dreams do come true Also - the Oreo treat: I have to buy 2 because they are SO GOOD!

Awesome selection of plant based Meats and cheeses. Also a variety of sandwiches and snacks. All tastes so good and healthy!! Would be nice if there were more seating, but you can't beat the quality and originality of the foods. The Philly Cheez steak is so good I wanted seconds and the french onion soup is unlike any I've ever tried. Highly recommend!

I started buying from here in an effort to both reduce my family’s meat consumption and have quick meal options. So far all items have been delicious! I prefer the mac n cheeze (baked with some cheese on top) to classic mac n cheese. It’s not as heavy but filling and has good flavour. The vegan bacon they have in it is tasty too (I think that’s what it is). All in all I’m very impressed with the food at real fake meats and look forward to trying more.

While happy to see the vegan offerings expand in Halifax, I can't recommend Real Fake Meats. Their $12 burger was small, bland and, other than the fried pickle, textureless. Sorry. I want vegan meals that will convert everyone to a plant-based diet. This doesn't cut it.

Stopped in on a Sunday and really enjoyed my visit! The staff/owners are friendly and helpful and the place is really nicely decorated. I ordered a grilled "cheese" sandwich with havarti and vegan bacon, which came with chips and veggies and was warm, yummy, and satisfying. I also bought some spicy vegan pepperoni that came in a good size and is good on its own and in recipes (so far a white bean and spinach soup, but can't wait to try it on pizza!). Looking forward to going back!

I can’t say enough great things about this place. every time I visit the food and service is 10/10. today my partner and I came to RFM and we wanted to order their special the calzone. he has a sunflower seed allergy, and they let us know that the calzone sadly has them. but they immediately offered to make him a fresh one. not only did they go out of their way to accommodate him but they also offered us some truffle fries with garlic aioli while we wait. a perfect addition to the plant-based community here in Halifax. thank you for all you do RFM!

On my birthday we ended up downtown Halifax for work so stopped in for lunch...I had forgotten how incredible their grilled sheeze is! It is!!! Even more incredible ... hubby forgot to order a cake ahead of time from another place with vegan cakes - out of the blue, he asks the women at RFM if they have cake...THEY DID! Like for no reason - she had a special order for one and ended up making a second “just because” it was meant to be I guess! And it was delicious!!!!

They've got a variety of items available on their menu, from breakfast items to sandwiches to mac n cheese. Plus a bunch of take-home items like house made vegan cheese, 'meats' and desserts. We got takeout and went over to Peggy's Cove... yummy food with a nice view!

Great place. Tried the Vegan donair bowl twice because it's delicious and also the vegan bacon strips and the seitan burger. The burger patties are the best I've found in metro, even better than impossible burger or beyond burger, or superstore veggie burgers. Staff were wonderful and I will go there regularly for the amazing food. What the world could be right?????

Following recommendations by the staff, fam and I tried a calzone, donair wrap, and oreo square. They were all exceptional! Although the faux pepperoni meat was a little too spicy for me, it still went really well with the fresh bread and cheeses. Not sure what the dipping sauce with the calzone was, but it was the perfect accompaniment. Nothing tasted processed or like 'fake tofu meat'. Simply sublime. Will definitely go back in the future.

False advertising, a butcher is someone who carves up animals in preparation for food, no animals state your not a butcher, not to mention you call your self a deli but offer no cold cuts

Real Fake Meats is truly a gem in Halifax! I can't believe we have a vegan "butcher" in our city and I am SO grateful for their hard work, amazing food and positive vibes. They did a contactless weekly "butcher bag" delivery service during covid and it was the highlight of every week. The space is small (and seating is limited) but the food is always fresh, the staff are SO nice and they are ready to help with anything. Whether you have questions about ingredients or method, they can always help you out because all the food is made right there in their own kitchen. I love RFM so much :)!

It is great to have plant-based/vegan options for "meats". The staff is super friendly and now that they have been open for a few months, it seems like they now have more selection. The sandwhices are amazing, and the mac and cheeze, steak and ribs are amazing! Can't wait to try the steak on a grill. It is a bit pricey, but the taste is worth it!

I visited Real Fake Meats for the first time on Saturday. I was having my sister and her boyfriend over, who are both vegan, for a birthday dinner. I struggled a little bit with what I would make until I remembered her talking about RFM. I checked out their products on their website and decided on having a pizza night! I purchased their Spicy Peps, Veggie Donair and Donair Sauce. I panicked a little when I didn’t see their Donair Sauce in the fridge, but asked at the counter and they bottled some up for me. I made a donair pizza and a Pictou County brown sauce pizza with their Spicy Peps and they were both delicious! I look forward to trying some of their other products in the future!
