A great place to visit. They're butcher section has fantastic choices and super friendly staff. On the other side the premade food is delicious although a bit pricey. The fast food burgers they serve are so good too and so are the fries. Definitely worth checking out.

Friendly and helpful staff! Sausages are amazing! kids favourite is the swamp one's, hubby loves the classic Italian (hot or mild), my favourite is butcher's own but that's assuming we are only picking just one. They are all delicious, just decide what mood you're in and get the appropriate sausage :p we have many other favourites (smoked meat, egg rolls, steaks, to name a few!) But the sausages are hands down the best!

This is an excellent source for quality meat which we have been going to on a semi-regular basis for years. Today we somehow managed to leave the premises with only half of our purchases in our possession. When we contacted the management they immediately offered to deliver the rest of our purchases to us which they did within the hour. Their kindness meant a lot to us and we can't recommend them enough.

The best spot to grab some great butcher meats! They have great steaks, amazing bacon and a whole lot of other stuff. I highly recommend trying their New York steak and bacon! There is also a Vera's burger inside which is really good! You can even buy the burgers from the butcher to make at home! I highly recommend coming here!

What can I say but amazing service and product quality? I go there on a regular basis to get home-made sausages and filet mignon for tartare. I've always been served with great care and humour, both on the Butchery and on the Vera side. We're very fortunate to have such a wonderful shop near our place.

This place was great. Wife and I came here for lunch and got hamburgers for lunch to go. On the left is the restaurant that serves different types of burgers for lunch and steaks for dinner. You can eat in or take-out. You grab a paper at the counter and fill out your order, then bring it to the cash to place your order and pay. While you wait you can wander to the right side which is the deli. You can gawk at all of the very delicious types of meat, as well as some other treats like cold pasta salads, Jamaican patties, and bite-sized treats. It was a bit expensive, $40 for our burgers with bacon and cheese and fries and onion rings, but as soon as you bite into that hefty hamburger you taste the deliciousness, the quality of the hamburger meat and bacon and know that this was a worthy, once in a while treat.

Best burgers in town (great pricing too)! I walked into here after grabbing a coffee at starbucks and it was well worth it. The first time I was there, the staff was friendly, but I would say avoid the lunch rush as the timing wasn't impeccable. The burgers made up for it though, I got mine rare-ish and it was delicious. Much better than your frozen junk at chain "restaurants"

I heard about this place from a colleague so I decided to try it out. The meat looked great and turned out delicious, but the main reason for this review is for the hygiene of the guy who served me. When I saw him poking the meat I had just chosen with his bare hands, I almost felt violated, especially when I looked at every other worker there who had gloves on. When I mentioned that to him, he said it was a question of preference, which I was not given any choice to have this guy manipulating my meat with his bare hands that have been God knows where, nor did I see him wash them! I almost turned around and left, but had promised my wife a great dinner. For that reason alone, I will not be returning to this store! Especially in the middle of flu season like this,. it was not only very disrespectful (guy should NOT be there) but it's not hygienic in ANY way! Owner, should be a RULE that EVERYONE wears gloves, NO EXCEPTION so shame on you for not making that clear to your staff! Lost a good customer who loves to cook meat! Might warrant sending food inspectors!

The Vera burger was excellent and tasty (with cheese and bacon and caramelized onions and mostly all the toppings (lettuce, tomatoes, pickle, ketchup, mustard, bbq sauce, Vera sauce)). Their fries could be a bit better. Maybe they need better potatoes or better oil or a little bit thinner would be better maybe.

I had heard really good things about the burgers here, so me and my friend went to try it out today at lunch and it was a big letdown/disaster. We waited 20+ minutes for a burger+onion rings for myself and a sandwich for my friend. I'll describe both of our experiences below. My meal: I ordered a burger with bacon, and sautéed onions on it. I was told after waiting about 20 minutes to get my burger they were out of bacon, and they were going to refund me, so I wait in line for 5 minutes to get my bacon refund, then the guy at the cash didn't know how to do the refund, then I ask if I can just have a pop and call it even (I think a pop is 75c more than the bacon cost) and he says yes then says no, and he has to get another employee to come and refund the bacon, but she got distracted while I was standing there in front of her, so I ended up waiting at the front of the line for another 5 minutes to get a refund on the bacon I ordered but they didn't have. I then sit down to a $20 burger and onion rings (that's right, a small side of onion rings is $6.50, very dissatisfied with the value there) and it's missing the sautéed onions (that I paid an additional 89 cents for!) on my burger and the burger isn't even cooked to satisfaction. It was also missing several other toppings I put on my order that were no additional charge (I. E. Spicy Mayo). Anticipating that correcting these things would take the staff another 10 minutes to fix I just ate my crummy burger that wasn't to order or cooked well. My friend's meal: he was waiting with me for at least twenty minutes for a simple sandwich, then he complained while I was in line waiting for my refund, as he ordered before me, and me and several other people who ordered after him in the queue had received their orders. A few minutes later he is called to the counter and his order isn't ready still, and he watches the employee make his sandwich from start to finish in 2 minutes or so. He was frustrated that they couldn't have just made his sandwich at the right time in the queue if it was that easy. I really wanted this place to be a hidden gem that I could rave about to my friends, but I felt like the staff was visibly overwhelmed (and not handling it well) at a not very busy lunch rush, the food wasn't to order or cooked well, and the value of the food wasn't great. It's a similar burger setup to a five guys restaurant (on one side, but with a deli counter on another) and I can honestly say that I won't be visiting here again if somewhere like five guys can do a tastier burger, with friendlier service, and at a better value. I don't normally give negative reviews but this place was a big let-down today.

i used to be a regular customer , the beef ribs were my favorite but recently the ribs are a lot smaller and they hardly have any meat on them it looked like there were shaved . and the price is also pretty high i think they were 14$ each now they're 19$ and way smaller. i don't think i will go back again.

I came into town for work and was staying at the hotel just down the street from the butchery. I came in for lunch and was impressed with the quality of food I received. Its a cool place, butchery and restaurant all in one. Before leaving town, I went back in and had them back up some sirloins for the 5 hour drive home. The staff were fantastic and triple wrapped the meet and placed them in two bags, to keep them cold for the ride home. I cooked them on the bbq that night. Without telling my family that I brought them home from Ottawa, they all said that they were the best steaks they have ever had.

What a friendly well stocked butchery! Do yourself a favour and stop by. They have everything you want at good prices. We stopped in for a fabulous smoked meat sandwich that has to be the best cuts I've ever had. The staff is very nice and helpful. Great place for quick lunches or dinners as well.

Love to see a proper butcher in Bells Corners. They have lots of options, including some frozen offerings of your less common meats. The service is great and I really appreciate that during busier periods in the year you can see a marked increase in staffing levels to reduce wait. The product quality is fantastic - high quality cuts and work well when I get home. The only thing I haven't loved so far were the loaded potato skins - too much garlic for me. Have to dock two stars...meant to update it a while back, but the COVID precautions were definitely not being tightly followed.

I ordered a smoked meat sandwich today and while the portion is good and quite tasty, the rudeness of the lady at the food court affected my experience greatly. When asked about the menu, she rudely answer and barely even care about my reply. When I picked up they food when the cup doesn’t have the straw yet, she glared and abruptly jammed the straw in. I understand that lunchtime is busy, but I felt like I was begging for the food with this treatment.

I absolutely love this place, there's an incredible feeling of community and localness here. The look of the inside has been renovated, but the people are the same as they've always been: helpful and insightful. You can ask anyone for some help, and if they don't know the answer, they'll introduce you to Someone who will. A particular hidden gem, less so nowadays, is their sandwich bar. They're roasted turkey (available to take home too!) Is my absolute favourite. This place is worth a drive to, even if you weren't planning on making your way to Bells Corners!

Was brought here by a friend. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was fantastic. Got the Texan to share and it was filling for the two of us. Friends had the burgers and only had good things to say about it. Will definitely be back soon to try the other items on the menu or maybe fill up on bbq items when it gets warmer. In the back of the shop, they have other items for sale to make that home bbq great, frozen pies and amongst other things, salad dressing. Fantastic service and great place for all of your meat. We had our daughter’s wedding that we were hosting in June 2021 and we wanted to serve a better than normal prime rib. The Butchery went out of their way to source a USDA Prime designated roast that exceeded our expectations and earned rave reviews from our guests (see pics). Their meats are the best, they know their stuff and they are great to deal with.

As a business owner and safe food handler, it's standard practice to wear throw away gloves when touching raw meats.I seen the young lads go from grabbing raw chicken then grabbing other meats with bare hands.Pathogens and cross contamination can easily be passed this way ..please give a reason why no gloves are worn in this establishment?

Now this is the place to go. The Butchery doubles as a restaurant and a market. The food here is glorious, primarily their hamburgers. Using a simple order process, you fill out a card, and provide the card, along with your name, to the cashier. Should you desire any specialty items, not listed on the card, such as extra cheese for a poutine, or perhaps peppers on that burger, you simply inform the kind person behind the counter, and they will gladly make arrangements for you, and process the order correctly. The wait, especially for such great food, is expected, lasting no longer than ten minutes, as you watch your burgers sizzle with flavor on the grill. Once cooking is complete, you can watch as they dress your burger, but I highly recommend perusing their wares. From exquisite cheeses, to a sundry assortment of meat products to choose from, this place has it all, and extremely fresh at that. Upon receiving the food, and tasting it, your will be pleasantly surprised with the fresh and flavorful burger. It maintains its juices, and it is quite the handful for its price, often requiring me to slice the burger in half, prior to attempting to eat it. The dining area has much places to sit, and relax, as you consume the food and environment, allowing for a relaxed visit, as you enjoy your meal. Keep up the great work. My recommendation: Visit this diamond in the rough, you will not be disappointed.

My wife is normally the one who stops here on her way home from work but since she can't leave the house, I decided to stop in. I was very disappointed. As I was ordering my meat at the counter, the guy serving me was yelling over my head to the Vera's side to give them his Tim's order. Regardless of a pandemic, this is terrible customer service. There was absolutely no respect for my safety or for the safety of the surfaces etc. It was a free for all in there and Ottawa Public Health has been notified. I've felt very comfortable in supermarkets and I'll continue going to them throughout this pandemic. I'm done with The Butchery as the lack of care for the public was shameful.

We bought a chuck roast at the Butchery a few days ago and had it for dinner tonight. I browned it on the grill, then put it in the slow cooker. It is THE BEST most FLAVORFUL roast we have ever eaten. WOW!!

Ordered a small, 11 pds fresh turkey 2 weeks prior to Thanksgiving. We had no issues with ordering process but did seem a little rushed - no name taken, etc. made me nervous as no protocol for who/what, etc.. Called back two days before pick-up to confirm the order and was told it wasn't necessary to check with them. They did not want our name and sounded amused that we were checking on our order. Husband shows up on pick-up day and was handed a frozen turkey. He was then told turkeys under 25lbs were frozen and had no choice but to pay more for larger fresh turkey. When asking why this wasn't revealed to us they said recent decision. I guess our name and number could have come in handy afterall. Upside - Lots of left overs to drive to extended family and friends. We do not recommend based on this experience.

Very disappointing buying chicken breasts: they were so tough we couldn't eat half of them. Never saw this before! Tough chicken breast??? I wonder where do they get supply? I had also a few unpleasant experiences in that store where there was a rotten meat smell so bad I had to rush to my errands and leave. This is too bad; before they moved from their original store, they were good. Since they moved down at the other end of the mall, quality took a serious dive. I also dislike to see my meat served with bare hands. My family will not go there again.

This place was recommended to me by a co-worker raving about how good the cuts of meat are and how knowledgeable the staff are. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. I asked for a recommended cut to cook in a sous vide(as I know literally nothing about cuts of meat), and the employee behind the counter looked completely lost, he pointed to one and said "A lot of people like this" and that was it. I ended up getting it to try, the quality was there, but I did find it weird that it was essentially 2 pieces of meat tied together with a string. As I do not know cuts at all, I was sure if this was normal. Regardless it did seem odd to me that my "cuts" were actually 2 separate piece held together by a string.

Great butcher, steaks, pork chops, ground beef, burgers, are all great. Stay away from the sausages, terrible. Pretty bad when a grocery store has better sausages, no wonder they are so cheap. Worker talked me into the swamp sausages? not good, tasted like a hot dog. Tried the hot Italian tonight, big mistake. Pure grease, split open causing flare ups, and a hot dog has a meatier texture, not happy. Overall, highly recommend, just stay far away from the sausages.

Amazing selection of high end meats and deli items. In house roasted sandwich meats are excellent. Sandwiches are available to go and there are prepared items such as pates, sausage rolls, soups and salad in the deli case. 100% recommend.

I have been buying my steaks at the Butchery for as long as I can remember, then few years back Vera's came around , a great burger ! But now they have expanded that menu and include steaks done on the charbroil, I am super fussy when it comes to my steak and never order steak when out at a restaurant as I am always dissatisfied, I decided to give them a chance , considering they are starting with a great quality cut of meat, it was the best steak I have had outside my own! And would definitely go back for another :-)

Have come here for years and the food is consistently excellent. The steaks are always exceptional, and I’m never disappointed when I treat myself to something from the grill. I brought my dad for a Vera Burger when he was visiting from out of town last year and he still talks about how delicious it was. I’m always pleased with the food and the service is even better! I was there today and the Owner and counter staff were incredibly accommodating when I made a special request. The star of the show was Melanie at the grill. She went above and beyond to be thoughtful and proactive when serving each customer. It is clear that she understands the importance of customer service and am still floored by the attention she paid to each customer’s needs. Definitely recommend!!!

This was always my go to spot pre Covid but not sure what has happened to this place. The guy who served us wasn't very friendly, had his mask below his chin and was whistling directly towards the meat scale while our sausages were being weighed. Sure, the meat is being cooked aftet but yeah...probably won't be returning.

I have been coming to the Butchery for a very long time..If your looking for great quality cuts of meats you have come to the right shop..You are going to pay a little more but the quality of the meats is worth it...There home made salads are a favorite..After you finish collecting your grocery's...go to there little grill ..Vera's...this is quiet the treat..There homemade hamburgers are fantastic and I have not had a great smoke meat sandwich since Kardashes on Wellington street back in the 80's...There smoke meat sandwiches are very good..We visit this shop once a week...staff are very friendly...you will not be disappointed.

Well organized for the virus. First time there, and everything is top quality and so clean. Had a Vera's burger and it was excellent, but didn't enjoy the fries.

On April 18, 2020, I was waiting patiently outside The Butchery's front door, waiting to get in as per their rules of only five people inside their store at one time. Without warning, a man wearing a surgical mask walked right in front of me. I mentioned to him that I had already been there for ten minutes and that I was ahead of him. He replied, "I was here before you because I was waiting in my car (in the parking lot)." I relented. He then went in before me when a customer came out. The doors remained wide open with no one there, and since I felt I was actually next in line before that man had arrived, I went inside. The owner immediately began yelling at me from across the room to go back outside because they already had five people in there. "You can't wait in your car!" he yelled. Puzzled, I explained to him that I wasn't the one waiting in my car at all, that I had been standing outside the door for ten minutes, and that the man wearing the surgical mask was waiting in HIS car before getting out and jumping ahead of me - he had told me so himself. I could now see that man with an armful of stuff and picking more things out in front of the display case. I pointed him out to the owner who had yelled at me. Now, all the owner had to do was talk to the man (who was actually the sixth customer in there), and explain to him that customers aren't supposed to wait comfortably in their cars and then, when the opportunity arises, jump in front of the line. And, that would have been that. Instead, the owner held out a straight arm, with a flat hand outstretched in my face, and screamed at me: "STOP TALKING!!! UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY MY FINE FOR HAVING TOO MANY PEOPLE IN HERE!!!" I couldn't believe it. The owner of a restaurant was ordering a paying customer to stop talking?? And then threatening me to boot?? On top of that, his staff members began to joke and laugh together with the masked man, adding insult to injury. Virus, yes. It's a stressful time - for everyone. But, I was abiding by the owner's own rules. I was also a paying customer - a privilege to him that I chose his store to purchase his products. If he was that freaked out about keeping to the rules, why didn't he simply station an employee just outside in front of his store, to meter people in and out? One person out - one person in... just as virtually all stores do to ensure orderliness during this time. And, if that employee had been there, he or she would have seen me standing there, and then would have seen the masked man leave his car and try to push in front. It would have been explained to him, right then and there, why he had to wait - because he could not wait in his parked car to get in. That was their rule. That would have completely prevented what took place in the store - before anything could happen inside! I realize that these are stressful times - for everyone. But, I'm sorry, I broke no rules, and I will not allow the owner (or maybe he was the manager) of any establishment to order me at the top of his lungs to "STOP TALKING!!!", nor to threaten me - his paying customer - in any form. We are all stressed out by this virus, but I didn't do anything to deserve this shocking humiliation, on top of my own stress. There was no scene on my part: just the owner/manager being extremely rude and screaming. If he can't handle himself with his customers during a crisis, then he should close his doors and shut down his business - until he can put a leash on his emotions. I will never go back, and urge all who believe that this owner's/manager's behaviour was uncalled for, to do the same. The food isn't that good for this kind of treatment. The owner/manager has a responsibility to the public if he is to remain serving the public - especially when there is a crisis. - Steve

As always, great food. The owner Mark always goes out of his way to make the experience fun and always has great cuts of meat for supper. And try their lunch time sandwiches!!!

Great selection although expensive.. vera burgers used to be amazing now they're usually over cooked and the French fries are utter trash

I came in on a Sunday after going to 3 different grocery stores to try to find steaks for a romantic dinner for my girlfriend and I. Totally not what I expected when I came in with an hour left of business. The staff were friendly, enthusiastic, ready to help right away, answered any questions I had and the best of all; gave me the best steaks I've EVER HAD. No steak will ever compare. The best steakhouse, the best grocery stores, even the next butcher shop can't compare to the steaks I got. This was such a good experience and I will definitely return!!!

The price for the burger is very reasonable ($7) but the taste and quality were not good at all. We had to put a lot of sauce and pepper on it to be able to eat it. Not recommended!

I tried the poutine and Veggie burger and I wasn't overly thrilled. My partner tried a bacon cheese burger and said it was very tasteless (mind you it was a good size). We owned a restaurant and noticed a couple things. 1) the person cooking the burgers blew directly on the flame surrounding the burgers several times- not sure what he was trying to accomplish but it wasn't very appealing to watch. And 2) they say fresh cut fries but I have a sneaking suspicion their those Quality Fresh fries, basically they come out of some plant locally where they cut, blanch and bag the fries (never frozen), that's how people get away with saying "Fresh cut". The food on display looked good.

Used to be my favorite place. I always bought beef ribs here for my smoked BBQs and proudly told everyone where I bought them. I was in there today and was given a really weak rack of ribs. I asked if I could get one with more meat on it and I was refused. Apparently the rib meat is worth more on different cuts...Pretty lame if you ask me. Even though the ribs they sell cooked look great, why can't you let your customers cook like that?
