These are definitely the friendliest South Africans in YYC! This is such a great shop and if you’ve never tried the biltong, you’re not living yet. They have beef and bison— it’s amazing. Also all of the different import items are fantastic!

Very nice people here. I was able to get beef strips cut thin enough to make beef jerky. The guy was very helpful. Good quality meat & a really reasonable price ! Will buy my beef jerky meat here from now on.

This place is a true hidden gem. I love their lemon marinated chicken, lamb and apricot skewers, and chili beef jerky.

Great for nostalgic top ups of boewors and biltong. Over the years, the smiles on the staff have whined and the service along with it. But if you can't find a decent boewors anywhere else, come here. The biltong is still very good, so be sure to try it.

Nice little South African shop with a small selection of SA favorites. The rump steak is really good, but the prices in general are a bit high. Haven't tried the biltong, but found the droewors very fatty.

My brothers in South Africa right now (got married down there). All he could do was talk about his love for Droëwors and Biltong. SA Meats had great ratings and decided to check them out to see what my brother was talking about. The Droëwors and Biltong are amazing, their meat pies looked and smelled great too, I'll have to try them next time, yes there is definitely a next time.

Sick of grocery stores selling you meat that isn’t from the prairie? This South African style butcher shop will astound you! The jerky is to die for and there is prepared meals and amazing sausages. Burgers are not available here, but the rest of the shops quality shows in regards to specializing their product. Great service!

I'm from South Africa so if you are looking for biltong - South African version of beef jerky - this is one of two places to go in town. It's roughly the same price as jerky but in my opinion so much more flavorful. They also have an amazing pie selection - chicken mushroom being my favorite

This is a quaint little South African shop. If you want a taste of some of the treasures we left behind, try the dry farmers sausage. My kids loved them. I was however disappointed in their biltong. True South African biltong is much drier and not moist inside. They also had Flakes chocolate bar. Heavenly if you haven't had one but you can find those at your local Dollarama for a fraction of the cost. Overall, the service was friendly and the lady still had her beautiful South African accent! A nice little place to check out for something different.

The food here is absolutely divine. We had steaks on sat. The beef was hung for 21 days and Willem marinated them in the shop for us. So many choices here for meat eaters ! Best steaks in Calgary. Service also great, we got samples in store as we weren't familiar with all the South African varieties.
