You know that we don't usually stop to put evaluations when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Butcher Shop belongs to the category of Meat packer.
Amazing cuts of meat from a very wide range of animals made me a regular customer at the expense of my waistline...
Don't Get the Campers Box! For $140. they tossed in some old dusty steer slabs (steaks), smoked ham chops (pork chops), mystery meat burgers (patties), some smokies that were open, broken in half and spilling into the box, bacon that is pure white fat strips and some assorted sausage which is actually pretty good - know what you're ordering and don't take any promo garbage from the back freezer.
Kinda expensive for vet students to get butchers waste to do assignments with. Beef jerky wasn't very good either.
Glad i found this hidden Gem while living in Calgary.. this butcher shop is by far the absolute BEST shop i have ever gone to my whole life. The staff ,the selections, pricing, quality is the absolute BEST i have ever seen. I miss this shop dearly and will return everytime i step foot in alberta.
Great local food, but check your receipt before you leave. I really did like this place up until the lady at the front put an extra $50 on my bill... She denied it up until I had proof. Very awkward situation and shameful way to do business.
The absolute best
Big selection
Bought quarter of a beef carcass couple times, meat was fresh & tasty but they don't cut the meat tho. They'll just saw a side cow carcass in half and give you the quarter you want. So if you want your butcher cuts, you have'll to be very specific. Also, we're thinking of buying raw dog food as well.
Best Meat in Calgary! Staff is very friendly!
Really friendly and very helpful! Meats are always delicious and cuts are wonderful. Price is very reasonable.
Very poor customer service received from cashier (older gentleman). Would not acknowledge me and skipped over me in line for no apparent reason. Would not return.
I enjoyed the product and the chit chat with the Brian behind the counter. Thanks.
They serve halal meat, which is a barbaric Islamic form of killing an animal. Will NEVER spend another dollar here again.
Great steaks and ground beef! I’m loving my order so much better then grocery stores. Chili with fresh beef was a huge hit! My first order with many more to come. Thank you.
Fantastic service, helpful counter staff, good selection. Also helpful that you can pre-order for pick up, a good thing to know when you need those TBones! We don't buy meat anywhere else now.
The counter staff was very knowledgeable, very friendly, offered recommendations for meat types/cooking types. Very affordable for medium sized family meals. A large variety of meat types and cuts.
Good service and good prices. My go to for pork butts and bellies.
Old school. Locally sourced. From the farmer to butcher to customer in two steps. No giant feedlots, meat packaging conglomerate, super-sized warehouse distributor and grocery chain. Lots of grass fed and organic options. Eggs and Honey too!!
Very good people. Very great products. They still do their sales receipts manually using a calculator, so honest mistakes sometimes happen. But I highly recommend this place.
For the high end carnivore at great prices!
Nice staff and they are always helping you for what you need.
always great meats and service from the staff here
Great product and service
Love this place for its fresh eggs, local honey and yes, meat! Supporting local businesses like this that source local is a huge win all around. Thank you for being a place that all are welcomed at ????
Always fantastic meat and service. Worth the drive !
I want to say that this is the only place I now shop for meat. I live in the NW of Calgary and I make the trip about once a month to stock up, if you time it right, takes about 25 minutes to get there. I just add it to my normal Saturday market run so it works out quite well. Fantastic service, great product and reasonable pricing. All in all a good experience. My favourite cut is a T bone and I buy them by the box. never been disappointed and my other half and I just enjoyed a wonderful meal due to eating melt-in-your-mouth steak. I will be back soon
Fantastic people Fantastic Products
Great quality beef and chicken
I love this place. It's a bit of a drive but it's worth it if you're not in a hurry. The shop 8 old school. No frills, no b.s. The staff is ultra friendly and helpful. Prices are competitive. Quality is top notch. If you're looking for something specific you could go to specialized overpriced Calgary meat "boutiques" or you could take a short easy drive and leave the phone at home.
Excellent service and quality of work
Great selection, good prices
This is the only place we buy meat, very friendly staff who have gotten to know us over the years. The quality is much better than grocery store meat and considerably less expensive. The chicken is by far the best avalible in Alberta and the hutterites eggs are exceptional. Steaks are thick and juicy and the ground beef is great quality. We travel over an hour just to do our meat shopping here.
Ordered 3 whole briskets. Package came out at 54.6lbs. Each untrimmed "brisket" had approximately 5lbs of unusable plate attached. I expected about 36lbs of brisket, but was also sold 15lbs of unusable meat that was NOT part of the brisket. Do you dump your junk cuts off on everyone who makes a $300 order? You've been in business for 40 years- trim the meat properly or price it accordingly and at least inform the customer beforehand. I wasn't prepared to argue over what is and is not plate or brisket, but you get the idea. This was a real pain to deal with- by the time the briskets had been trimmed appropriately, the yield before cooking puts the price per kilo of actual brisket right back at almost double the sale price, and post-cooking yield was 45% net weight. This being said- once trimmed, the brisket meat came out very well with good marbling, tenderness and moisture content, so in this respect it was okay, but the lesson here is although the price per pound was low, by the time the meat is trimmed to be cooked that price per pound will be approximately double.
Was out for a ride and grabbed some steaks after, an old school shop setup right in the building was great. Also they had Hutterite honey available at the time.
The best bacon, porkchops, beef, chicken, eggs. Sourced locally.
We bring in our cattle here for butchering on a regular basis. Good service and straight forward. Always have gotten our own meat back.
Great selection and quality. Staff are knowledgeable.
Very friendly helpful staff
Friendly staff Great products and services highly recommended
I Absolutely Love this place ❣❣❣ The product is Fantastic and reasonably priced. Best quality meats available. Best money I've ever spent was buying a half beef.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.
Delicious meat and a nice clean shop. We love to order our meat by the side (supplied by a local farm) and get it aged, cut and wrapped here. Excellent quality at competitive prices!
Awesome place, great meats, and friendly staff.
Please don't buy beef from these guys!! They use sick/injured animals! My brother in law worked there for years and I didn't believe it until I saw it first hand. They buy "chronic" animals from feedlots, ones that are too sick/injured to live long enough or travel to a big slaughterhouse. They pay pennies on the dollar for these animals that have been treated with antibiotics often several times before the feedlot gives up on them. I've seen them with bloody noses, hunched backs, standing on their knees because it's too painful to stand, etc. It's not good beef, it's literally the bottom of the barrel. The only reason people think it's good is because it's dry aged, which improves quality, but it doesn't affect that the animals were sick and injured.
Called asked for pricing on rabbit and he didn't even care to check. Told me tomorrow is another day and hung up. Just lost a good customer that loves his meats!
I was so excited for this place. Been there at least a dozen times as I keep wanting them to redeem themselves. Their prices on beef and pork are good. Their pork chops are great, their beef not so much. I’ve bought ribeyes, t bones etc, I’ve used the sous code to help em along but still tough. They also don’t do a great job on presentation or trimming of meat. They just use the band saw, cut and package. I’ve had a couple decent t bones the rest have been terrible. Lamb prices are insane. As a trial I purchased some local steaks from another butcher today and they were night and day difference and I just can’t go back even though I so badly wanted them to be my local go to for meat
Friendly and helpful staff.
Good selection, decent prices. My go-to butcher for sure.
Just as others on here have experienced, I paid almost double price for a brisket with 5-7lbs of scrap flesh attached. The first brisket I bought here didn’t have this- it was a normal $70 brisket. The second one was $110, and I assumed it was simply a larger brisket, but after removing the inedible scrap it was effectively the same size as brisket #1. I asked about the unusual size/weight of brisket #2 and was just told “people just cut it in half”. Didn’t realize half was inedible. Also the razor thin fat cap was dry and hard from air exposure. And there were many deep cuts into the brisket flesh from butchering. Will look elsewhere for my next bbq.
Best meat and price in calgary wont buy my meat anywhere else support a real local gem makes me proud to be albertan
great attention to detail, perfect cuts each time
