First impressions last, that's for sure. When we walked in the girl working the counter was touching her flip flops on the floor and didn't wash her hands before coming to greet us. She was extremely unknowledgable . Most of the meat is either frozen or. If slabs in plastic. When we asked the price of a 3/4 inch steak she couldn't tell me the rough price without cutting it first , they had no other meats other than red unfrozen which was disappointing. . Definitely will never be going back.

I use to go here all the time maybe twice a month.. but the past 3 times I have had bad experiences. First bad experience - Went there half an hour before their closing time for maui cut short ribs, they informed me that their stuff was all cleaned and put away and they wouldn't be able to cut the meat I wanted. A bit disappointed, I went down 17th to the next butcher to find short ribs at a better price, and they cut them for me without an issue. Second bad experience - Sent my girlfriend to pick up some specific cuts, not only did they overcharge her for what we got, but she was charged twice. They claimed the first transaction didn't go through, yet we checked her statement to find that she had indeed been charged twice, and Cut Rite never got back to us on this issue. Third bad experience - Same as first...I guess they close before their actual closing time. I have no intention to go back here again, they have lost my business and I would urge everyone else to go where I've been going on 17 Ave and 31 ST, it's only a few blocks away and they have good quality meats at a better price, with better customer service.

As per usual the staff was very kind and the place is clean but I am disappointed on this trip to cut rite. Usually I've had good luck with them but this time around I ordered 2 1 1/2" thick Rib eye. I paid 73.92$ and Unfortunately I didn't look at them until I got home otherwise I would have turned them back. Im really hoping this doesn't become a common trend I enjoy using cut rite as my local butcher but today I feel like I was ripped off. Update so I sent them a photo on Instagram and I ended up getting a call very promptly. They rectified the issue immediately. That was some of the best customer service I've ever had

The last two times we have purchased meat from this location the outside 3/4" meat has been dry and red rock hard. Their cuts of meat are more bone then meat. By the time we are done cutting off what cannot be eaten we would've been better off with the butcher at sobeys. Do not waste your money!

The quality of the meats and service here are really something else, from the steaks to the pork belly. I could never go back to anything else. Very reasonable prices for the quality they offer. I have come here for years. Good service. However, I went by recently and realized their pricing was not much, if at all, different from general grocery stores. A small pack of porkchops was high. In fact it was the same price for double the amount at Co-oP. So I went there for those. Not sure of the reasoning for the pricing. I still like this place but cant say there is as much benefit to coming here as before.

We had heard about this shop from Instagram and thought we would give it a try. I'm so glad we did. Our dog is so happy we did, he enjoyed all the special treats we got him. He went crazy when he got his bone for Christmas. The bonus to all this is how kind and helpful the staff is. Incredibly knowledgeable about his products and willing to answer any questions you may have. If you're looking for a great meat shop, look no further. We will return again and again. They also have a wide selection of wild game meat.

Quick and priced well. Quality is mediocre to quite poor. Chicken legs - huge legs, tough (assuming big old chickens) and due to size hard to cook to not be raw at the bone and not dry on the outside. Cooked first set in oven. Threw the rest out. Steaks and roasts - super metal tasting, I wonder if I am just used to higher quality grocery meat that has been aged? Pan or pressure cooker cooked. Ended up giving most of this away. Gr beef - decent. Literally the only part of a $300 package that I enjoyed. I really do not recommend due to poor quality.

I love the Meat Packs! It’s bulk buying but it’s not like you have to fill up a freezer or two! This meat packs are ideal for an average Calgary family that just wants to have a reserve supply of meat for a couple of weeks or more – and save money at the same time. VERY poor quality. bacon smelled off, during cooking. I had used the bacon ends to flavour my chicken and added it to a stew for flavour, ended up discarding the works due to the off-putting distasteful smell. Called and requested a refund, manager refused because I discarded their product. Any excuse to not do a refund. Not a reputable, trustworthy or honest experience.

Nice people and good service but poor quality. Took my deer there this year and I am not impressed..sausages are all different sizes and packed in different numbers..the amount of product i recieved was minimal and expensive compared to last year's deer which was much smaller. The smokies are so salty it's hard to finish one. I will not return next year ..not impressed at all

I did not think it was possible to get bone in my pepperettes but every stick of the 4 packs I have eaten so far have bone fragment, all 12 packs are now labelled as dog treats. I even called them to complain and the response was that's not possible... I am even more angry because I took 2 full deer into the store and asked for sausage, pepperettes, and deer jerky. I was charged $750 for a poor tasting sausage and dog treats. I will never use this company again and do not recommend them.

Great meat wrong hours the hours on the door say 10-6 Monday thru Saturday the hours on google say 10-6 but there real hours are 11 -5 Monday to thursday. some people that run business's need solid hours for time management purposes as it waisted an hr of my time traveling to your location for 10 then having to head all the way back to my job site then back again at 11 to cut rite.

went to cut rite meats and got pork shoulder roast cut in to 1/2" steaks and love the meat it was perfect and went back to get more but jimmy was not there and the lady cut my steaks to an inch witch makes them way to big and the next i told here they were to big and when she cut them they were an inch or more thick so i will not go back there cause customer service is a big thing and when i ask for thinner steaks and she cut thicker

If you love great quality free run eggs at an amazing price then this is your place. We have looked all over the city and we FINALLY have our place. If you have a dog then stop shopping for bones anywhere else and come to Cut rite. We started coming here for there amazing quantity and price for raw dog meat and were surprised by the great selection of dog bones and treats. The owner really makes you feel appreciated and cared for at every visit.

Disappointed, Drove over an hour to pick up a 13lb round. Asked to have it cut 3/4 inch, safe to say it wasn't cut rite at all. I'm unable to use most of it for it's intended purpose. One end starts at 3/4 inch but the other end is closer to 1/4 inch. Steak is good quality though..

First-time atcthis place a boy was I impressed! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The know their stuff... Above all else the meat looks great and are priced very well. The quality of everything I saw was second to none. Did I say I was impressed! The store is clean and doesn't have that funny smell most butcher shops have which told me the entire shop is very clear. If you want good meat I would suggest taking a drive a checking this place out.

I will give you a 5 for now. The order process was smooth. Selection is very good. I haven’t tried any of the cuts yet. Several things would add to the experience. 1- include the grading of the meat. AAA etc 2- where is the meat sourced 3- is the meat grass fed, grain fed, hormone free etc. Base on the marbling in the cuts and my rudimentary knowledge, I think it’s going to be awesome. Worst butcher I have experienced yet, by far! We took some venison quarters in to be processed into roasts, steaks, ground, and sausage. The sausage was the complete wrong flavour. It was so spicy that all other flavour was drowned out, not to mention there was chunks of hair inside the casing. To make right on their mistake of our $400 order they gave us some free steaks and sausages. The free product must have been sitting in the freezer for many months or years. It was completely dried out and freezer burnt and not fit for consumption. I will never go back and do not recommend anyone else to go there for any reason.

I never write reviews about businesses as I find it is much better to work with the business owner whenever possible as mistakes do happen, but the staff at Cut Rite Meats are completely unreasonable. After waiting two months for our deer (they said they called, but even after showing them that this could not be possible they were unbelieving). That being said, they did not charge us any late fees which I guess is something? On top of that, they charged more than TWICE as much as any other butcher we have used for the exact same order, then did not provide ground meat, although we asked for it. Not a fan. Not a fan at all. Will not be returning next hunting season.

Wasn't bad...bought 2 nice rib-eyes which they cut nice for us about 25 mins before closing time and they were happy to do that for us. I'm really disappointed! My first experience with cut Rite was from a flyer in the mail, advertising large family barbeque. I spent 60 Dollars and could not eat them!. They looked so good, so I thought, I may not have cooked them correctly. I wanted to give them another go to be honest. I bought a Sirloin steak today, after negotiating a discount, 20%. Good rite? No Shrunk to half its size, and turned into a rubber band!! I just wanted a good fry steak. Lol Don't waste your time, let alone your money. Sobeys has far better product, Really! Not knocking them if you like that, but I'll pass. My last trip there :)

We have never been disappointed in the meat which has always been of a high quality. Meat has always been well packed. Staff is also very good about cutting fresh meat as requested and answering questions about different cuts.It’s a great place to buy fresh dog bones!

Didn't get the ladies name who called to let me know about my order, but she was rude and impatient all because she gave me misinformation about delivery time. Delivery was over 3 days and was not worth the 175$, I can't help but feel cheated. But I guess it is what it is, a learning experience. I have told friends and family to stick to Costco or other grocery stores, save your money and don't waste your time.

I have very good experiences at cut rite meats! I only ever buy my meat from here. The staff if friendly! And jimmy the butcher cuts and wraps my steaks for me the way I like them. He does it custom for me. I find his prices very reasonable. And I buy my meat in bulk. His tenderloin steaks are amazing and I also love his rib eyes and rib steaks and t bones. I like to buy bulk hamburger in 1 pound packages from him so I always have hamburger on hand. If I have questions about meat and which to use for what I am cooking jimmy always recommends what I should use and is always correct! This is the best butcher shop in Calgary by far.

Very happy customer! We ordered just shy of 50lbs of ground beef from Cut Rite a couple weeks ago. Not only was the price really good, they delivered it the following day and even followed our eccentric request to not wrap it (so we could vacuum seal it). The meat was amazing - great flavor, very fresh and well made, which is saying alot as my husband used to be a butcher in his youth. Oh, and the delivery guy called before he arrived to make sure we were home and was really friendly. Will definitely be ordering again!

Bought 5 rib eyes yesterday for 160 dollars and they came frozen. Didn't realize til it was too late and had to bbq frozen steaks and they were falling apart from the freezer. This is one of the worst butcher chops in Calgary, The owner is arrogant and the dog food is disgusting, I recently got a order of beef/organ dog food. My dog would not even eat the meat, my other dog got sick and threw it up, It smelt like it had been defrosted and re frozen and cut! Half of the meat was a very dark texture. I have never had a worse experience ordering dog food from a company. I would usually go to rocky but since they are in the process of rebuilding I decided to try cut rite meats. I will not be returning to this establishment and I would not trust buying your dog food from here either. Unfortunately it makes you give one star because I would have given 0.

this place sucks, I bought some "lean" gound beef in a paper package and it was mostly white. It cooked down to less than half and the barbeque was on fire: fat is combustable. These dummies are obviously trying to stretch their profit by selling waste fat in ground beef I wouldn't feed to my neighours dog. Do yourself a favour and go to a reputabel butcher and ask for some 100% lean ground chuck, it makes the best burgers, chile, stew, meatballs or what ever.
