I'm not clear on how so many reviews are talking about great prices. Perhaps solicited reviews?
Been a customer here for at least 6 years, usually with getting them to butcher after auction. This time though we bought from their supply and paid a premium on the price we thought was advertised.
From the advertised price that they have on their window and online of ground beef at $3.59 per pound and again on their website which shows a front quarter at $3.59 per pound, the cost was 175% in excess of this to over $6.00 per pound because of a lack of clarity that one is packaged an one is on the hook. Meaning that although they are advertised to look the same, one is actually twice as pricey.
So although I received 123 pounds of packaged beef, I was charged for over twice that weight!
Now compare to Costco ground beef, which according to their butchers is also AAA, they sell it at $4.04 a pound. So even with Alberta Prairie Meats were clearer with their advertised pricing, they'd only be within 13% difference; not worth an hour and a half's drive. But perhaps a good buy if you're in Duchess.
To say the least, after being a long loyal customer, its more than disappointing to feel to be taken advantage of. For sure it's NOT worth the drive. In the end the pricing equated to full retail prices that is easily matched at nearly any store.
In fairness though to APM the owner addressed the issue with a prompt reply an offered to refund on the order. Spending 6 hours driving and nearly $100 on fuel to save the overcharge certainly didn't make sense either. The quality too at APM has always been outstanding, if you can afford it.
