Normal typical bowling alley. Sometimes a little more crowded than I'd prefer but if you want to bowl, just bowl. Not much more to say. Nothing fancy. Cool place to go on a weekday date at night when there's not many kids in the laser bowl thingy. Dark room of lanes with cool neon black lights. Have a couple drinks and bowl over there!

Worked with Vicki. Very awesome lady!!! Held our company (K2 Industrial) work Christmas party here. Could not have been more pleased!!! If i could recommend anything to Thunderbowl id recommend updating their website. So people have an idea of what all Thunderbowl is capable of. We spent about 1100 and had a beautiful buffet with several goods layed out so professionally. Food was delicious. Dessert too! Had our own private bar in the cosmo section of the alley. Arcade games were free to kids as part of our package. We bowled, we ate, we drank, we played, we socialized and we were MERRY!! They did an outstanding job. I would recommend FORCING a tip on them when they do you and your party the same way! Thunderbowl your staff was exceptional, thank you Vicki and team so much!

Not a fan. Had to go through a metal detector to get in. Security was everywhere (i guess that's plus if you need a heightened sense of security). Definitely not my scene and poetically won't be going back. Not enough seating for the amount puerile they allow in. We were packed in like sardines.

Was here for a bowling tournament. Their snack bar had a horrible way of taking team orders. Which wouldn’t have been a problem if they let teams bring in food for lunch. Waited 20 minutes to order and then couldn’t even order because I had 2 school orders in front of me. This snack bar should take team orders in advance if they expect all teams to order lunch from their snack bar. Very unfortunate.

Love bowling here! Owner is a great guy and very friendly the bartender and food personnel are also very polite, two concerns for the establishment is understaffed, the service for receiving shoes, front counter, and especially the bar your almost always waiting because that crew member is busy doing other jobs and you must wait for them to return and sometimes can take up to 30 minutes just to get a soda from the bar. Also 1 worker in particular. There is a lady at the front desk whose name badge says,"Ms. Thang" this woman is very disrespectful and rude. Multiple times when your lane is having an error you must speak with her at the desk to fix the problem at hand. Ms. Thang will blame you saying you did something wrong at least she has to me on numerous occasions, she will argue you and when she finds out she is wrong she will not apologize, she talks down to people when she speaks to them which is not professional and this establishment could find a better person for the position that is polite as well as faster paced because this woman works very slow and does not seem to try to speed things up even when there is a crowd of people at the counter waiting on her.

Great lanes. Alot of fun had a blast I took my kids there they had fun and also staff was very helpful and courteous. They had bumpers for kids and also had a stand that u you could set the ball on and all the kids have to do is push it. Will take them back and will also go back even if I'm by myself.

Went bowling with a large group, and they were very accommodating. It's a huge bowling alley, and had a large bar. The drinks were very reasonable.and the pizza was surprisingly good!

Bowling alleys don't exactly have reputations for being pristine but this one feels particularly run down. The alley is quite old and it shows. Mechanical issues and drab countenance scream for a much needed remodel.

Hands down the worst place I've ever bowled in my life. Had 3 lanes for a party of 20+, even though part of the part was already inside, we had to wait in a line outside in the cold to go through security, only to be made to wait in another line. Then was charged $22 a person. Will not recommend and won't come back.

I don't normally one star reviews, but this is definitely one of the exceptions. The lady at the register was intolerant and rude. Once we got to our lane, the pins wouldn't set up and it was giving the wrong scotes to players. After that, the balls just stopped coming. We asked to move lanes, but then we just weren't getting full sets of pins. At one point I only got one pin on a fresh round. This was easily the biggest waste of $20 that I have ever spent. Please save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else.

The comp kept messing up our score... the house balls are in horrible shape ie. Chipped and deep scratches. I went to order 2 orders of cheese sticks and came back 10-15 min later to find that they were never started on (if they were busy, I'd have completely understood but seeing as I was the only customer, unacceptable). This was our first visit and sadly our last as well... the only reason I gave a second star was because the greeter and shoe person were really nice. Also the prices are actually really cheap, however, you get what you pay for, for 3 people + shoes for 2 hrs: $30. We never made it to the second hr.

Went there on a weekend because of an employee outing. They CHARGE YOU before you even go in and they're gaurds at the doors. Didn't know if I was at a bowling alley or a club. The staff was great though once I got in and so was the food. But I won't go there again.

After many years of bowling at Thunderbowl, this will be my last frame. This place is a total ghetto full of wild, crazy, pigs. (I can't even call them bowlers, because a bowler has common courtesy for other bowlers.) It started when my party of 6 was put on ONE lane. (Lane 80) I understand that this may be your policy, but for 6 people?! Really? Then, after we got to our lane, the party next to us, was a large group of people who were loud and rude and had no consideration for anyone else on the lanes. I immediately asked the front counter if I could have a lane change, and with 2 lanes this time so my group could actually bowl. So we were moved to lanes 51-52. It turned out to be 10X worse! We were in between two large groups of people, who were again loud, rude, and all over the lanes. Some were bowling in their socks!!! Some were bowling in boots! Kids were running out onto the lanes and rolling around on them. Kids and younger teens were playing on the floor. Some kids were actually rolling around on the tops of bowling balls on the floor! Bowlers were throwing the balls overhand, and when the ball would stop mid-lane, or in the gutter, kids were running out onto the lane or in the gutter to retrieve the balls! (In street shoes, too) We also could not sit down by the lane because the other two parties decided that they could use our seats. I believe there are 4 bars in the building, and only 1 ONE was serving drinks, and with only ONE bartender! I won't even go into how long it took to get a pitcher of water and beer. It's not the bartenders fault. It's the lack of planning and staffing. (I help run a business, so I know what it's like to require adequate staff members, at the right time. Keeping customers waiting is very unprofessional.) The frustrating part of about this, is that Cloverlanes, which closed back in May, 2015, had the EXACT same type of crap going on inside. Ghetto atmosphere, wild guests, lacking any type of security monitoring the lanes to keep the crowds under control. They CLOSED. The "guests" ran the facility, just like they did tonight at Thunderbowl. It's just sad, because I last bowled at Thunderbowl 6 months ago, and it was nothing like what it was tonight. As we were finishing up our final game, the lights were turned down and the music turned up. You can't turn the lights off with this type of clientele out on those lanes. In my book, it's just not safe. By the end of the night, we just wanted to leave. I did make it a point to go to the front counter and speak with the Night Manager, who was very professional, but as I figured, she was short staffed and there wasn't much she could do. I will say, that she did offer me a place in the Arena either tonight or during my next visit, but sadly I will not be returning to ever take advantage of that opportunity. She did encourage me to rethink my decision, but my mind had been made as soon as I started to bowl. I understand it can be hard to monitor each and every lane, (It's a large bowling alley) but something needs to be done. It can't be avoided or ignored. If it is, I'm sorry to say, but you will most likely end up like Cloverlanes. "Closed". The fact of the matter is that I will not be returning to Thunderbowl ever again. My party was not pleased with the experience, and they couldn't wait to leave the building. Tonight turned out to be a regrettable experience, rather than a fun and memorable one with family.

We called this place they told us that we were they were open until 2 AM we got to the place driving from Ann Arbor all the way to Allen Park and the doors are locked we knocked on the doors the guy came to the door and told us that they were close and I told him what was said over the phone so he went back to double check the guy yelled at us and told us to have a good night because they were close it was 1050 at this time so we’re like it’s only 1050 so we close at 11 I said so we have 10 minutes and on the phone we were told it was 2 AM they told us no so we called up there again and the lady said that they close at 11 but it was still 1058 at this time customer service is terrible will never try to go again.Very annoyed it was a hour drive!

Poor house balls. Most of them are cracked, chipped, or hard to find. Out of date scoring system. Sensors don't always detect pinfall. Prices aren't bad tho. $8 for 2 hr unlimited bowling (as of 7/2/19) $4 shoes. Prices are higher depending on the time of day and the day of the week.

The bowling alley was okay, but the snack bar is TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On 12/15/2018, my family and I came out to just have a good time. I had to pay $5 because they charge for non bowlers??? However, that broad Kat (at the snack bar) has no type of customer service skills. They tried to give me cold food, that they claimed was in the warmer. SMH!! When I asked for hot food, she push the tray of cold food and said- “that’s your food”. So I had to talk to Pat (a supervisor) to possibly get my money back, because Kat refused to make my order over (which was chicken, fries, and a drink). Spoke to Vicki (who is supposed to be the manager and she did “nothing” about the situation. I told her what happened, which was a waste of time. Instead of taking the money (that was refunded) over to the snack bar, so that my daughter could have something to eat. She kept saying that Kat (at the snack bar) story was a little different and that she would call me later. Call me later for what??? When I’m currently standing in your establishment!!!!!!!! SMH. So I was still there (because my group was still playing) with no food. Later on, she walked pass me and said, “I’m going to call you later”. I told her no need to call me. I will never go there again.

I recently had a small gathering here and the customer service was fantastic. They worked with me when over half of my party flaked on me on the day of the event. Most places would have charged me full price for the reservation and I'm thankful that they were very understanding. I highly recommend this bowling alley, the lanes are in great shape, the ball returns were fast, and employees were very attentive. Thanks Thunderbowl!

This place is an ok bowling alley, a bad pool spot, and has the longest wait for drinks. I gave it 3 stars because it all depends on what days and time you come. I've been there early morning and it was great. Late at night on the weekends there is a line out the door, and lanes breaking down constantly. I went there 2 nights ago just to play pool because there was no way to get a lane. The machine for quarters was broken so I had to go to the bar for change. It took 15 minutes to get change for a dollar because they could only give a dollar in change at a time for some reason. I like the lanes but they break down too much. Wouldn't recommend on weekends but if your patient then go throughout the week and check it out.

I walked in and was met with wonderful service at the entrance. The prices were reasonable and there were plenty of lanes for my entire group. There was also a variety of balls for people who needed something heavier or lighter. Even the younger kids can enjoy bowling with a lighter ball.

My kids party went so smooth and timely in the best ways. I will DEFINITELY recommend a glow party to anyone who asked for ideas! I cannot get over how well it went and am super stupid happy with my choice to have a bowling birthday party! Not to mention the end price, epically great there too! $200 for a 2 hr bowling party of 10 people plus 10arcade cards! Can’t beat that anywhere else????

We came here for a birthday party and there was a lot of ignorant people running around bumping into you and not paying attention to their surroundings. The food was overpriced and the person serving beer and liquor had a sign at her bar stating no water pitchers and refused to provide me with water saying she was not allowed to give patrons water. I don't see how this is legal but I continued on with the evening. The bowling balls were standard wear and tear and the lanes rolled fine. It was definitely crowded but being Friday that was to be expected. I would not come back here if given the chance to go to another bowling alley in the area.

Had my 40th birthday party there on 1/5/2020 pizza and service was great but lanes weren't. Went there to bowl not play video games even though half of the free games in the arcade didn't work or weren't turn on. I asked the employee if they put oil on the lanes before my party and the Service counter said that they dont oil the lanes in cosmic at all period. You would think for $436.00 for 20 bowlers they would. And for 40 max people you get 4 pitchers of pop total. I would put 0 stars but won't let me. Definitely not worth bowling here. Wish I could have gotten a discount on my total bill.

My staff and entertainers bowl here every other Sunday. We bring in a group of 20 plus. Its only a few problems that could make this place a 5 star. First the elderly lady behind the bar is super slow, and needs help. Second reservations for parties of 20 or more people should be allowed and not split parties up.

The bartender told me I could literally not have a glass of water, I could not purchase even a cup of water or even a pitcher I was told it was an enforced rule. She was very sassy and told me to go to the vending machine.. there was no water selection even there. The lady at the snack bar was very helpful and even stayed open late for me to buy food. Yet the bartender told us that we could not drink or play pool anymore because they were closing it was 1:10. Its sad when workers just want to go home so you cant enjoy the actual open hours. I will not be coming back. Thanks for being rude and ruining a good night.

One of my favorite bowling alleys. Prices are good and usually a lane is always available. Love that they have regular lanes and then the side with glow n the dark. We have had plenty of parties in the smaller glow room with the bar and dance floor. Me and my friends would come here every Thursday when they had free pool and buy drinks. Great place for family fun and adults too.

The manager on shift was awesome! My party arrived during a league, but she was able to accommodate us with two lanes and even had her caterer get pizza for us! I wouldn't be have expected her to go out of her way since there were only 7 of us but it was such a nice thing to do. I will definitely go back !

Me and my family enjoy coming to this bowling alley. The staff is friendly and the area is always clean. You can order food and drinks to make it an all day event or just come to bowl a few games. The price is decent as well, 7 dollars for shoes and one dollar per game per person. Our lane had an error when we first started but the staff was quick about correcting the issue.

WOW! Never written a review before but damn is this place garbage. Pop machine doesn't work, no bumpers for kids, no water or drinking fountain for kids, fries cost $4.77 but $5min on credit cards and pop machine doesn't work to meet the min so they can't eat the 23¢. Lanes constantly fail and need maintenance to come out and fix it

I'm never going here again...this bowling alley is nothing but trash...the lanes we were on kept messing up...when we asked to move they said it would happen on any lane...let's me tell u that's not true...I've bowled at hundreds of bowling alleys and if the lanes mess up often or if your constantly having to reset the pins or enter your score manually then there is something wrong and if they all do it then your vowling ally is garbage...lol..anyway this bowling alley is poorly maintained...everything is run down...they even have drink rules...like really? Just close this bowling alley down! I mean I even had to get my bowling bag completely pulled out and searched through...that's ridiculous!

This place is for bowling only. If u want good service forget it. I was there on black friday at 6 p.m. & surprisingly it was not busy. The staff does not seem to know what they are doing or care about customers. Two of them argued about how to do their job while in the middle of helping us. There are 2 bars. Good luck finding a bar tender. The food counter is like something u would find at a sporting event and didn't open til 6 p.m. We wanted to order pizza but they said they didn't have enough dough because of another party booked. The ladies working the food counter where very nice and did the best they could with what they had but if u have a party booked wouldn't u order extra dough? The management of this place truly needs an overhaul.

I had my daughter's birthday party here this past weekend, it took 3 weeks to get a hold of the party planner to book it, than it took a hour and 15 mins to get our pizza made ( which the party is only 2 hours). Horrible experience! I was having my sons 18the birthday/graduation party and they double booked my time slot. When we got there it was already 30 minutes into our time spot. The woman had an attitude because we were upset at that fact. When we asked if they were going to compensate us for this (like a discount) we were told no because we got a bigger room and our pizzas were on time. OK what about my cake decorator didn't know where to put the cake (she was told 3 different rooms) or the fact the room was decorated or set up. I had to run the poor fellow (that was serving the party) to death. Example: no cups, no plates, nothing to cut the cake, no table cloths, and because we didn't have a room we couldn't hand decorations. Plus the guy delivering the pizzas didn't even know how many pizzas we had. He had to ask us! Almost $300.00 to set in a room outside the cosmic bowling area, inconsiderate, insensitive, and rude. If it hadn't been for the fellow servicing us I wouldn't have paid at all an would have had my party in the parking lot! Next time I'm renting a hall!

Having been a member of a travel squad during high school, I've seen pretty much every bowling alley in the metro Detroit area and I can say that while this one may host some great tournaments, it's not fun to get into on a Friday night.

The owners of thunder bowl are very professional the staff on the other hand have no idea what's going on when the pro shops open and their pro shop is very I unresponse of and unprofessional when it comes to a previous pro shop employee who drilled on my Turbo R ball and drought it to close the pen which voided the warranty from ebonite and the pro shop said they couldn't take care of it even though Brunswick said bring the ball end to the pro shop and though exchange it due to what happened I will never bowl at thunder bowl again that is why I have changed to Roosevelt lanes for a better bowling experience

This place has the most rude staff I have ever met especially the chubby blonde white lady at the front that was watching our lanes like a hawk .I took my 11 year old daughter for her birthday and my 4 year old to only get yelled at about my youngest distracting some other bowlers that were on a league playing for money, we got told not to have children running around ,which they were not and to only have one person on the floor when they were getting help from their father .Also the regulars make it very uncomfortable for people who are coming to spend a family day together after working 7 days a week and barely having time to spend with family and overall made us have a horrible experience. I spent over $100 there and should not have been yelled at about my 4 year old celebrating that she knocked down the pins! Like what is wrong with people how can you get mad at such cute little girls having fun!

I can't tell you how miserable it is as a lady to go to a bowling ally or bar and the bathrooms are nasty. They are also making renovations on many things. The tvs are still outdated, but hey they work. I've came here twice and used a group on both times and they were very accommodating. They are doing great and I can't wait to see how they keep coming along.

Called to check open bowling and was told it was available after 4p. Nope. Got there and there was a wait due to a tournament. We took a slip which said go have a cocktail and wait... We will announce your turn on the PA. Yes they made an announcement but didn't include us. An hour later we were told we missed our turn. There was nothing else we could do but leave our ticket at the counter and leave. The whole experience was poor. False advertisement and poor management = simply a waste of our time.

I would really give them no stars. The shoe guy was rude cursed at me under his breath in front of my children. I asked him not to stuff my boyfriend's boot in the cubby and he rudely took it out as slammed it on top of the middle cubby section. When I asked what he was saying he said nothing but clearly he had words coming out of his mouth I could almost here. I told him have a better night sir because whatever in going on in your life is consuming you. He got even more upset and refused to help us very much or at all.

Not how it was when I was little. Went there for a birthday party organized by a coworker for another. Feels very run down, overcrowded and outdated. Security is a hassle to get through, creating long lines. I am happy they have security though given recent events there.

Still a legendary place. always cheap bowling and beer , but has gone down hill . I suggest they let CPL holders keep their tools at the door because the armed gaurds where not on point per say. i got in with my knife amongst other things but i am responsible law abiding citizen, that may not to be said about others who may get past the door security

I went bowling with my family during the day on a saturday. The employees were friendly and the establishment was clean. The prices seemed reasonable, and the lanes were in good shape. I did see in past reviews that someone said that the bathrooms were not clean , but when i was there, the bathrooms were in the middle of being cleaned.The employee said that it is cleaned every night. I would definitely go back, not to mention, my kids had a blast in the free arcade. That's not something you see at other bowling alleys.

Our family always chooses Thunderbowl to go bowling. My daughter are new bowlers in High School and the staff is always helpful as they look to practice. The pro shop has a great variety of equipment. However the cost is a bit higher then other lanes. The oil on the lanes are pretty consistent allowing the bowler a better expectation of the lane. I would highly recommend this alley. We felt very comfortable using this alley during Covid as they accommodated us keeping us separated by a lane. We also felt very comfortable going here day or night with our family. Highly recommend going to Thunderbowl.

Not veteran friendly at all. I showed up 10 minutes after 11 and they wouldn’t let me in. Only tried to attend a best friends birthday. Said they don’t let people in past 11 even tho they close at 12. I explained I’m a soldier not from the area. Ms.Vicky did not care. Nor did she want to hear about a customers experience. What happened to thunderbowl!? Used to be a beautiful place to bowl. You can’t bowl here anymore, most of the staff is racist, a comment was made tonight “...he was starting to scare all the WHITE people...” what exactly is that supposed to mean? First of all, no one was scared, and I’m white, so I can speak for the “whites” as well. The man she was referring to was being loud and ignorant. Not scary. Bottom line, horrible atmosphere, and overall a bad place to come with your family. Change the staff and the clientele, this isn’t a night club it’s a bowling alley. Also, the best way to end racism is to quit talking about it... it’s 2018. Not 1950.

Thunderbowl has plenty of parking along with a significant amount of handicap spots near the doors. Probably the largest bowling establishment in the area and probably has been around the longest. In the past they had hosted professional tournaments not sure whether they still do so or not. They have a number of bars throughout the establishment. They have $2 beer and Bowling specials on Tuesdays. Whenever I drive by while it's open the parking lot is generally full. The Ally's are clean and polished. Overall a pretty great place for the family or to go out with friends.

Don't love the place as much as I used to but still so many GREAT memories here, theres no way I could give it less then 4 stars.. Last time I went most of the staff was nice and foods usually pretty good. The one thing to keep in mind is they shut down selling food and drinks super early.. Not 100% sure cause it's been awhile but I think 9 for food and 10 for drinks..

I’ve bowled here in all 3 areas, and I enjoy bowling at these lanes. My only complaint is that on 2 separate pair of lanes (1 in arena one in cosmic), the scoreboard wouldn’t register one of the pins, so some strikes would show up as 9 counts

Went to Tunderbowl tonight. I thought I was going bowing, not to a club. You have to go through metal detectors. And then there is a 5 dollar cover charge if you dont want to bowl and you still have to pay the 5 dollars if you just want to sit at the bar. This is ridiculous. On top of that, it's 62 dollars to bowl for 3 people, for 2 hours. I turned around. I'd rather spend my money at a more decent venue and not some money hungry bowling alley. You guys don't even deserve the star I had to select. They used to be more family oriented.

Called. They stated they were open till 11 pm. Walked up security stopped us at the door and wouldnt let us in. Due to 'policy' they could not let us in. It was 10:03pm. I've been a repeat customer for several years and have had more bad experiences than good. The rest of the staff have been very rude at times minus a few. Wont be going back.
