Here you have the opinions of real people who are using the products of Punch Bowl Social Detroit (Bowling Alley) in Windsor territory (Canada).
To this day the business gets a rating of 3.9 stars over 5 and the rating was based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that its rating is good, and it's based on a high number of feddbacks, so we may say that the evaluation is very reliable. If people have bothered to rate when they've done well, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to write reviews when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Bowling Alley is included in the category of American restaurant.
Delish!! I've been there a handful of times and being a mom (sorry everyone who hates kids ) this place during the day is great for everyone. Bowling, darts, buffets, full bar, arcade-it's a blast!! The food is amazing too. 1st time-chicken and waffles. Spicy and breaded beautifully. Yum!! Friends raved over their food too! Party of five please Another time-Mother's day buffet (Hi, mom again )and how fun. Free brunch for those of us who could bowl a strike. WINNING!! They definitely showed us a good time. Mother's Day brunch Buffet cooks were sooo nice, in fact everyone was. As we staggered to the streets we were met with the local $5 Detroit shirt guy who gave us the deal of the day and we got 6 shirts for $20 #FREESHIT We've got a pedal party coming up next month and will finish the night there again and I'm stoked. Y'all have fun
Hard to get served in sports bar style environment. Busy on a friday night. Cocktails ok. Could be good for bowling an karaoke.
Just went here today for my holiday lunch with coworkers. It started off poorly when I asked the server if they had vegan options. Her response was to look sideways and say “kinda yes/kinda no”. (It’s either a yes or no question.) She went on to say that they’d have to make a lot of modifications. She did not offer me any options. When she came back later, I asked her if she could ask the kitchen staff what they could make vegan and she replied in an annoyed tone that she could. I was frustrated at that time so I told her never mind. She asked me if I was sure to which I said yes, never mind. When she served my table the rolls, she brought me strawberries, which I thought was a kind gesture. I ended up ordering a “juice” because I felt bad eating the strawberries and not buying anything. The juice was fine. No one at my table got change from our bills (the coins). The bathrooms looked like something you’d see at a dive bar. Our server was aloof and did not seem interested in helping our table at all. As soon as I got back to the office i had to run and get something to eat because I couldn’t eat there. I am very disappointed and will not be returning or recommending to others.
Can't say enough great things about PBS. Great food, drinks, service, atmosphere.... great place to visit with your friends.
I like punchbowl, but wasn't impressed with the service we received yesterday. Went earlier in the afternoon with no one there and food was so slow. I literally ordered a canned hard cider and they just never bought it to me. Disappointing.
The ambiance is great, however, I didn’t get my dinner until everyone else had finished eating theirs. We arrived at 8, and I received my dinner close to 11. The waitress was friendly but forgetful. She went to check on my order and never came back. When she did come back I had to remind her about my food. She was apologetic but my experience was an unpleasant one.
Food is ok, prices are ok, drinks are ok. Combine this with the hectic environment of an arcade can make it a touch overwhelming. there seems to be an abundance of servers, but service is lacking. I end up here once or twice a year when my plan A, B and C fall through. It is a neat experience if you haven't been to a game bar before.
Really cool place! Came here for a work event. Staff was awesome, the food was too! A lot of fun games to play and the decor is very urban/industrial with a little bit of weird. Enjoyed our visit and will go back with friends!
Wanted to play darts and saw that nobody was using the dart boards so figured it would be no problem. But the staff said there were no darts available? What a waste. Bowling was booked, upstairs was booked, no games available. The reason you go to a place like this is for the games. So if you can't play games, why go?
Came to have dinner on a Monday night. Right off the bat, there are a number of staff and managers of the restaurant to open the door and greet you as you walk in. The atmosphere is very warm and welcoming inside. Service was very friendly. The portion sizes are "just right" - not too small yet not too large. I had the Cocoa Dusted Carnitas - three medium sized tacos that were delicious. Accompanied by Frijoles Charros - also excellent. Not only did the server come over several times to check on how I was doing, the manager on duty also checked in. Makes you feel appreciated as a guest in their restaurant!
The drinks are different but good. I’ve tried numerous drinks here but today I had the Malted maple royal. Here’s a picture of it.
Really cool place with great drinks and lots of activities. It's best suited for large parties. Although the 2 of us went and sat at the bar and had a good time. The bartender was very kind and made fantastic drinks.
Location is great! Decor and offering: great! Half the staff were rude and don't care. Product was hit or miss. I'd say continual improvement is what the management needs to focus on for upkeep.
More than one person that I know has spoken about how certain waitresses won't serve black people and will lie and say the kitchen is closed. I went here and actually referred people to this establishment. Shame on you, this is NOT slavery era! Black people are free and deserve respect just the same as anyone else. I will never support this place again and I hope you get shutdown....
We were greeted by the hostess and informed about the different seating available. We ordered the wings, burger and fries, it was all very good except I’m not a fan of rosemary on fries or at all. The waitress attentive and the management staff was great.
Busy, expensive, busy, non-attentive staff, busy And did I say busy? I love Detroit's resurgence but this place is just too popular for me. It's hard to find a table, hard to get the bartender's attention to get a drink, hard to get use of the dart board/shuffle board, bowling. Hard to walk from point A to point B. There's nothing bad about Punch Bowl itself, but in a half dozen times I've been here, I can't say I've ever had a good experience. Whether that's on them or me, you can be the judge.
It's a pretty neat atmosphere. The bartenders are very friendly. Friday nights seem to vary in terms of how many people come out. Great place to chill and watch a sporting event. They have great wings and a pretty good selection of cocktails.
The service was absolutely awful. It took about 20 minutes to get our first and only round of drinks. Our appetizer came out with the food. Manager said we could get free dessert because of that and then we were charged for it. Our waitress was barely around as well. Under staffed and not that great of food for the price.
Currently sitting in the restaurant now ...it’s been over 30 minutes and no one has come to our table. Everyone is visibly ignoring us, many have made eye contact and continued on. There are other tables also sitting and waiting. I’ve never had such bad service.
Punch Bowl is a high energy social club to meet and party on a one on one basis. On a larger scale, Reservations Paid were held for our family's reunion gathering upstairs and the food was ready and hot; however the karaoke room was not reserved for us which was also included in the paid reservation times from 7pm to 10pm. The room was preoccupied with outsiders for 1.5 hours until we had to find the manager to have them removed. There was No refund issued or accommodations provided for the room loss of 1.5 hours used by others for our reunion. This resulted in some disappointment of entertainment for our family reunion guests.
The food was great but the bathroom looks and smells like a rest stop. Our server Jason was the best..very knowledgeable of the menu and very personable.
Great food. I had the chicken and waffles which was really good. Very laid back with many things to do, from drinking, eating, to bowling, darts, table games or just lounge on their sofas or sit at the bar. Very spacious layout. Staff was knowledgeable of their menus. I would go back on the weekends.
It was ok, I was not planning to go. However it was my Son's and I date night and we went after dinner to a friend of his birthday celebration. Too damn dark or I am too damn old ,maybe a mix between the two. The waiters are pushy as all get out and did not even get my order right, I ordered a soda and the guy brought a hamburger and fries and disappeared so fast I did not even get a chance to say,"Hey this is not mine, where's my soda?" We gave it to another waiter and asked for my soda, he (The other waiter) actually went around table to table holding the food , asking whose it was! I said , "Hey, don't you dare try to give that food to anyone!"As people were touching it looking at the toppings! Oh I never got my soda, I did get to play Ms. Pacman and that has been 20 years or more since I did that! Oh I left after Ms. Pacman!
A great place to hangout, a cool atmosphere with a lot to do. They have arcade games, bowling, darts, photo booths, and more. Seating for sit down style meals, outdoor seating, and two bars. Service has improved since opening and is very fast.
After confirming my reservation the evening before I received a call from Punch Bowl Social 1 hour and 20 minutes before my reservation that they would not be able to honor my reservation due to a private event, and if I insisted on coming in at my reserved time of 3:00 pm I would be asked to leave at 4:00 pm. Well....no thank you. I will take my business elsewhere. Way to put a damper on a birthday gathering. Beware of using this establishment for special gathers.
Food 2/5 - Food was very bland and greasy. Fries had WAYYYY too much salt on them. Service 2/5 - Went on a Sunday @ 4pm. Waited 15 mins before someone greeted us. They seemed really bothered anyone was even there. Value 1/5 - Food was expensive but lacked in quality and taste. Atmosphere 4/5 - Place itself is a rather nice spot. Lots of activities and fairly spacious for downtown. Overall - 2.25/5 Wouldn't go back unless someone really really reallyyyyy wanted to go. But definitely not for food.
I'll start with food, which was good but limited. Very short menu. We had a large party and waitress seemed overwhelmed, and a little confused. We had to ask for drinks that had already been ordered. We went to the other side to bowl after our hour wait, only to still be waiting while standing next to a unused lane. We then decided on karaoke which was fun while waiting for bowling. A lane opened up on the upper level, but when we were notified about it, we were not told any details or pricing. We ended up leaving after karaoke. Buy the way food was moderately priced, drinks were expensive, and bowling and other activities were expensive. $35 for karaoke, $10.50 per person for bowling.
Great atmosphere. A little bit for everyone. Darts, pool table, card games, bowling, karaoke rooms, mini arcade. Great music. Food is good. Not like you're typical franchise (i.e. Dave & Busters or Lucky Strikes). This place has a cool, chic, vibe.
We had a party bus show up with 22 ppl. We had reservations keep in mind. Ya they are terrible. Only one waitress while she did her best wasn't cutting it. Then security was a rude inconsistent prick. Terrible manager as well. Horrible don't waste your time. Better spots in downtown to see
Beautiful place. They have board games & bowling & a nice little arcade. So that was pretty cool other than that OVERPRICED. Had quesadillas & they did not taste right & the guacamole was not good. The drinks were nice & strong. Other than that not too impressed
One of the worst experiences of my life. My server waited 10 minutes to greet my family and I, once she arrived we all could tell she had an attitude. She never checked back with us to see how the meal was going, see if we wanted to order drinks (which me and my lady friend planned to do) we could tell from her vibe she didn't care about what our wants were. My entree came out at the same time as the appitizer, which I precisely told her I didn't want to happen. The burger itself was one of the worse I have ever had. The bun completely feel apart, the burger was flavorless, and the toppings that were included on the menu were not on my burger. The fries were awesome. To top my terrible experience off, I had to wait another 7-10 minutes for my server to run my card. Instead of telling me it may be a minor before she can get back to me or something of that nature, she took a party of 15 order, and entered it in before she ran my credit card. I was a server in my younger years, and that is not how that process should have went. I will never be returning to punch bowl, and would suggest anyone considering to spend your money elsewhere.
Drink was screwed up, food was cold, overcooked, and bland, maybe forgivable at half price, but not at the premium prices they are charging. Service is painfully slow. Atmosphere is horrible with unpleasant music being played at excessive volume. Avoid.
A little noisy and I thought the food was pretty salty. If you're looking for a place to chill with your friends, it's not bad. Didn't have a chance to go bowling but I thought the service was pretty decent.
I have come here for a yearly professional event 2 years in a row now. While it is a spacious venue and has a lot to offer with games, karaoke etc. (thus the 3 stars) the food is lacking in every way possible. The first year I came it was actually pretty good but everything this year was cold, dry and poorly placed next to the bar making it difficult to get to with everyone getting drinks. The drinks were okay, not great by any means but not terrible. I really hope they get it together in this regard as it could be a really awesome place for future events.
Okay place for our team meeting. The games were a bit beat up: shuffleboard, dart boards. It took awhile (15-20 mi ) to get a server to attend to us. Drinks were good and servers were friendly and attentive. We were here on a Wednesday and it was dead with very few people - a group left after we arrived and another arrived as we left, but overall no crowd.
My first time here will likely be my last. Tried to make a reservation for karaoke and was told a private event had the rooms booked til 9 pm. Then we got there and were told in the shortest, least informative, least helpful way possible that all the karaoke and bowling were booked for the entire night, contradicting what we'd been told on the phone. Then the entire restaurant side was shut down for a private event, causing even greater over crowding in the bar and arcade. We could not find any wait staff or anyone to explain what was going on in the hour plus we were there. We felt we were treated dismissively by the door staff, restaurant host/hostess, and the shoe cage staff. When we finally threw in the towel and tried to leave, it was so crowded we could barely walk and were ushered out a side door.
Great place to hang out, have a party, or just enjoy some drinks. There's bowling, bags, wall Scrabble, and yard games all accompanied by a deliciously diverse menu. Their signature cocktails are great!
Went here with friends.. We ordered wings they were bland, but I did enjoy the drink that I ordered. To me the food and drinks are over priced. It took 20 to 30 mins for me to get my drink and another 20 for the food. We did karaoke which was really fun..
Great place! Awesome food and staff!
Fun place to go after work with friends or coworkers or on a date. Lots of activities, you can eat dinner, drink, bowl, and play games. The atmosphere is cool. The only downside is that they only have one or two restrooms so the line can get a little long. The wait for bowling can also be long too. I highly recommend their milkshakes!
The place looks great and no one was rude but the customer service was still so bad that I am confident I can call this place one of the worst customer service experiences of an establishment in a major city East of Chicago (having been to nearly every major city East of Chicago). A lot of the blame goes on the management. Everyone is working, and hard, but there is not enough staff for everyone there. We watched 3 tables leave in a 15 minute time frame. It took us 23 minutes to get menus. After ordering drinks it and appetizers it took 25 minutes to get the first drink. We wanted to eat a full meal but didn't feel like waiting another hour for entrees. The place has great potential but the management should be fired or the owners should sell the place to any 5 year old that can do a better job.
They treated us VERY well! I was impressed with the bartender for providing me a complimentary pop because I don't drink! Everywhere else we'd been I'd been charged at least $3, so that was a nice surprise! Besides, the atmosphere was very versatile!
Great looking place but nothing original. Manufactured hipster vibe in a very large package. The service would have been acceptable in a third-world country. 20 minutes to get water for the table. Another fifteen to get empty ice-filled glasses for the bloody-mary bar. Two waitresses had to cover the entire bar area which is large. Our server blamed managment for bad scheduling of staff. You would think that they would be ready for a Sunday morning crowd with a home Lion's game. Instead it was a almost comical to watch. Won't be back until this place has a major managment overhaul.
Awesome entertainment venue. Great bar with exceptional service. Lots of games and bowling with a plentitude of gathering and seating ambiances. Good beer and cocktail options my wife and her friend really liked the food, as well. Would recommend.
Fantastic staff really is the cornerstone of this facility. They make you feel invited the whole time you're there. From there the food and drinks are great, and the ability to jump between pool, darts, bowling and arcade games always lends itself to a great evening.
Great place to have fun and hang out with friends or family. They have bowling, pool, karaoke, arcade games and more. Took my team of 16 people at work for a team celebration, and everyone had something they were interested in doing. Highly recommend as a way to spend time with others. Food is interesting and varied. Team loved the chicken and waffles and the lobster fries.
Went after a lions game and waited about 30 minutes to be seated, no big deal. Our party decided what we wanted before we sat down to try to make the process quicker, it did not. Drinks came out one by one. We watched our food sit on the counter because when it finally came to us an hour and a half later it was luke warm at best. While I get it, it got busy, it’s a restaurant and should know what to expect.
Disappointing. I called to reserve a space for 15ppl a week before my desired date and was told they don't take reservations. When I arrived the day of my event, I was told the wait would be 1-2 hours... No worries. I went to the bar to pass the time and saw tables with reserved signs. I asked the host why I was told I couldn't make a reservation and she told me the day I requested was full. I then had to explain that if they told me that on the phone, I would have scheduled my party on a different day. Once our party was settled, everything was great. Our server was training, so service was a little slow, but she was the sweetest! Service became an issue when all of our meals with chicken contained pieces of bone in each bite. Like, if a child had been eating the dish, they would have choked. And it wasn't just one person with a bone, it was 4/12 of us. When I asked to speak to a manager, the sous chef came to apiligize for the bones. I felt so bad for him because mistakes happen. I was more dissapointed that the manager sent his staff to speak to me instead of him. I thanked the sous chef for his time, but asked for the manager. Neil eventually came out and told me he would have compensated us on the chicken dishes if he knew sooner and we hadn't already paid. He also apologized for the slow service and explained that he didn't notice his training server had taken on more than normal...after working in the industry for 10 years, this is just not acceptable, especially with the amount of money we spent. I will not be back.
Such an awesome set up if you're looking to "kick it" with "the fellas" and play bar games. Great food ranging from ribs for your uncle to vegetarian for your cousin fresh from college in upstate New York.
Most of the bartenders are great. The service is great and personable. We did run into an issue once; timing was slow, couldn't get a seat, and some of the staff made you feel it was an inconvenience to serve you. Like I said it only happened once but for the most part it is big and their is plenty to do.
This place was cool when it first opened, but since then it's gone downhill. The service has never been great, beer prices are overpriced, not to mention the last two times I went for happy hour, my beers were served in plastic cups! When you spend 6-7 bucks for a quality beer, it should be served in quality glasswear. If they are afraid of people breaking things, maybe consider aiming for a different clientele.
My team came here after hours for an outing and everything was wonderful! The food was delicious and Garrett and shanice were very attentive to the group. We booked the holiday lounge, darts, karaoke and bowling. Everyone had a great time. :)
My first time visiting, it was on a Saturday night, they had the whole downstairs rented out for a bar mitzvah. I thought that was a little odd. Kind of made me a little upset. All I wanted to do was dance that night but there were 12 year olds running around, made it very uncomfortable.
Forgot to call and let them know that we were going to be late for our Dinner Reservation, and yet the Hostess was still so courteous to us. That was our first time there and it was a fantastic experience. From the moment the Security/Doorman welcomed us, to the two knowledgeable Gentlemen that were taking Reservations next to the Bowling Alley, and especially when we met Bryan who is a wonderful Waiter. He helped keep our date night very cheerful as he was very knowledgeable about accommodations that suited my Girlfriend's gluten-free diet needs. By the way My compliments to the Chefs as well for the flavorful Cauliflower Nachos. Once we had our fun n fill we closed our tab with the Bartenders surrounded by a circle of happy Patrons who were being well taken care of. So all in all PBS really had a handle on that packed Saturday night crowd. From there we were out the door and already looking forward to the next time we come back and continue our Skeeball Tournament. So far she's winning 1-1-0
Celebrating 21st persons birthday. manager cut everyone off of drinks because someone spilled a little water and was obnoxious. Party of 16 people. Literally if you see the manager avoid him because he will watch you and be the biggest jerk to you.. probably should learn how to run a restaurant.. if you go to the bar side it's awesome and lots of fun.. restaurant side stay away from... probably worst managerial experience I've ever had.. waitresses are awesome
Alright so initial bad experience the first time but good without the prior staff. Plus they make a great drink. Ashley made a great drink malted maple Royale highly recommended
This place is happing. They serve great food and tons of different drinks. They have a bowling alley next to the bar. They also have old school arcade games also with pool, darts, and even shuffleboard upstairs. They allow you to rent out the upstairs for events or just if you have the money to do so. I believe they even have karaoke rooms. Make sure if you need something to do go check it out.
Stopped by B.C (before corona) before a lions game and found seating at the bar ordered drinks! They were good! fast service
Great place for group gatherings, work or friends. Will be back to try the karaoke!!
The food and service was amazing! We loved the way everything looked, the employees were kind and helpful. And most of all the food was amazing! I loved the experience! A must go spot, recommended spot!
I just had a ball at this place! Went to do karaoke for my sis-in-law bday. We booked our room for an hour and quickly realized we needed two hours and were able to book it on the spot for an extra hour and we sang our hearts out! Shout out to our server Jason! Kid friendly atmosphere we had a 13, 10, 4 & 2 year old with us. It was not busy at all.
There is a bowling alley n other fun things. The drinks are good, inventive, but a bit too sugary sweet for my taste. Expect a hangover if u have more than 2. The alcoholic milkshakes are a treat!
Awesome atmosphere and service. Food was great. This place has it all: restaurant, 3 bars, lounge area, bowling, arcade, pool, shuffleboard, darts. Highly recommended this place.
Poor service. Had a private party upstairs. Bar tender was very dismissive when I asked for a napkin. Couldn't get the bowling alley working. We couldn't find anyone to help. It was a ghost town. Terrible service.
Really good! It has a curious menu. Recommended
Pretty cool place. You don't see many places that have board games at the table for play. The second floor bowling was unique as well!
Great service. I enjoyed my waitress. She was very pleasant. The food was good and so was my margarita. The only reason I give the place 3 instead of 4 stars is because its a little over priced for what you get and the drinking out of a jar thing is not my style. The happy hour prices are better for the actual food you receive. My sister-in-law loved the impossible meatless burger. She actually thought it was meat it tasted so good to her. I have been to an event at Punch bowl before an played a few games. It was nice but not worth the price. I would go back to try the group drinking trolley.
The lobster fries were so addicting!! Staff was very friendly, and my chicken sandwich was the best I have ever had! Drinks were yummy too. My only complaint is the floor was sticky and the bathroom was a mess, the food made it worth it.
Great location in the heart of Downtown Detroit. Perfect place to stop in after a Tigers game or a Lions Game. Also great place for Lunch if you work down here (like me). I have taken my wife here, and also several other family members. My son loves the bacon jam they give you with burgers!
Went for brunch before Lions home game, good selection for brunch, bloody mary bar slightly missed the mark. This is a fun and buzzing place on game day. Bowling, cornhole and other tailgate games were available. Punch drink specials were good.
I want to preface this review by saying the only reason I'm not rating PBS (Punch Bowl Social) at one star is that this was my first visit, and it's possible my group and I just had a string of bad luck. That being said... I attempted, unsuccessfully, to plan a gathering at PBS for my wife's birthday. Several weeks prior to our desired date I submitted a request for a reservation/info through the PBS website. After a week or so I had not gotten a response so I called. The woman I spoke with said she was not able to put in a reservation for my group size (14) and that she would have to transfer me to their event coordinator; once I was sent to her, she informed me she could help me with reserving a few bowling lanes if I was willing to commit to either $500 or $1000 worth of food/beverages (2 or 4 lanes), but that they could not accommodate a reservation for our party. We had to cancel our plans. We successfully rescheduled for a few weeks later after reaching out directly to a friend of a friend who we found out was an employee, albeit for a smaller party (8 rather than 14). We arrived 10 minutes prior to our reservation time, and were finally seated 25 minutes later; it was a surprise it took so long as the table we ended up at was empty the entire time...we had assumed it was for another party since we were not being seated. After being seated and brought some water our waitress came back (after a member of our party spoke with someone) about 20 minutes later to take our drink order. Our party of eight ended up having two rounds of drinks and an entree; from the time we arrived until we had paid our bills we were there for just over three hours. Our waitress disappeared for 20 minutes (or more) at a time, and upon re-visiting our table would ask how we were doing as all of our glasses sat empty, both water and other drinks. On a few occasions we ended up walking over to the bar ourselves to get a drink. The food I had was solid (burger) and they have a pretty decent drink menu; my wife sampled a few of the types of punch they have and enjoyed one, and the atmosphere on the bar side seems like it would be a good time if you were with a smaller group. Bowling, darts, shuffleboard, pool, and some arcade cabinets rounded out the gaming options; all were reasonably priced. Overall it was not a pleasant experience, and I would personally never recommend PBS to a friend or family member who is planning an event or gathering...but if you are on your own or with a smaller group I think it might be worth checking out the bar side. I will not be making any attempts to revisit.
Very cool laid back place to visit, always something to do there unless your a negative Nancy. Food is great but there is always a crowd at night so get there early. If your lucky you'll get a waitress very quick do too the fact they are packed at night. But stop in and enjoy your self
Amazing food. I love food with a twist. I had the nacho mama, FABULOUS!! Our waiter Joshua was the best. He didn't miss a beat. It is difficult dealing with older picky women, then put a whole table together, that is trouble, and he did it with a smile.
Nice place. Service was terrible. Ordered at the same time everyone in the party did and we did not get our food until after everyone was almost halfway done with theirs. Bowling lanes have too much grip.
Loved the place. So much to do. Great music playing and a great atmosphere. Food was good. Drinks were good. Just a bit slow getting refills. All in all great visit. Went back twice in the same day.
Of course the atmosphere is unique, food and drink is delicious, but what I didn't expect was the personal attention from every staff member. Opening doors, smiling, helping with any questions. It's something you used to be able to take for granted, but not anymore. I enjoyed spending money there to support the business and their employees.
I'm torn in writing this review for Punch Bowl Social. On one hand, it's a pretty cool place, with lots to do, plenty of space, and a variety of drinks. On the other hand, the service can be rough at times and it's too popular to get into during the busy times. I'll start with the good stuff: The vibe of the business is fantastic, it seems perfectly modern and it's in a great location. There are also plenty of things to do other than just hang out and drink/ eat. These activities (bowling, arcade, darts, etc) are fun and are a nice change-up from the standard fare of the most bars in the metro area. The drink selection really is great, and the milkshakes with alcohol are really awesome. I'd highly recommend the Malted Maple Royale, it's a terrific drink, and the bacon garnish is a wonderful complement to the drink itself. Now for the bad: If you show up at a remotely busy time, you may get stuck waiting for quite a while before you get into Punch Bowl Social. For a bar of this popularity, this is pretty common, and comes with the territory. However, even once you're inside, you'll often be left waiting on the bartenders and this can really kill the mood. On my most recent visit, I made the mistake of not ordering multiple drinks at once (having forgotten that the bar can take a while), and I was left waiting for a bartender's attention for over half an hour (not even that crowded). As a result of this, I have very mixed feelings about Punch Bowl Social. It's a cool place, but I feel like there are other places to go that value your time more. (Having said all of this, PBS, if you can add 2 more bartenders, you could easily fix my biggest complaint about your establishment)
One of the coolest, most unique best places in Detroit. Offers indoor bowling, golfing, karaoke, darts, you name it. But you shouldn't go. Super long waits with no reservations, awful customer service. We were left a bowling lane with food and drinks all over. A waiter was requested multiple times and we were never helped. Would not recommend.
My parents and I came on a Sunday, two hours before a show at the Opera House. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated right away. The service was quite good. We had a newer server who was fairly knowledgeable about the menu and able to get answers quickly when she didn't know something. Appetizers (Lobster Bacon Fries and Black-Eyed Pea Hummus) came out quickly and were very good. Unfortunately, the fries were missing a signature ingredient, the pork-belly bacon, which my parents did not realize until about halfway through the dish. Our server was quick to offer a replacement order or a side of bacon. They went with the side because they just wanted to taste it. Two of our three meals (The Knockoff Burger and Impossible Burger) came out an appropriate amount of time later. The Knockoff was "good, nothing special" according to my Dad -- the onion rings were gross: soaked in grease, not crispy at all, and were sent back. The Impossible Burger was well-done/overdone, but I didn't mind it once buried in toppings & condiments. No complaints. The third meal, Chicken 'N' Waffles, had not arrived for 5 minutes and we started to eat. 20 minutes later it was still not out and our server was helplessly standing by the kitchen window waiting for it (we could see her). About 30-40 minutes later, the meal was still not ready. The manager on duty was fully engaged and could offer no explanation about the situation and declared it simply, "unacceptable". We agreed and she offered to remove some items from the bill. By now, we had to leave for the show. As we were signing the subsidized check, the Chicken 'N' Waffles arrived in the requested to-go container, so I cannot review the quality of that item. Overall, the customer service was quite good -- fast, friendly, and accommodating. But the quality of the food and the organization/management of the kitchen left much to be desired for the highly competitive location (Downtown Detroit) and any price point.
So much potential- kind of a let down. No ping pong and no cornhole on certain days- even if you call and ask they talk in circles and don't give you full information about what games will be open. Maybe during the week? They told us there was a party that occupied the 2nd floor and there was no one up there all night. We asked to go uo and they thought it appropriate to tell us how much we would have to pay to rent the upstairs. The main floor has only bowling, karaoke and arcade which is decent but not what we were hoping for. Shuffle board was "out of order". No where to hang your coat in arcade area - simple things like hooks would be kind. Dart area however no darts in sight. Got the falafel burger and mac n cheese food gets 4/5 stars. Service for drinks and food was fast and polite, but not enough to make up for this places big downfalls. Just go elsewhere.... pop off world or atwater brewery would be less trouble and more fun.
Nice atmosphere, nice layout and okay food. Absolutely terrible service. I am a reasonable person and the service here really got under my skin. I went last night. They asked for my credit card (cc) before the meal and said it was policy. I thought that was strange so I asked her if it was going to charge us now she said no. I asked her 2 more times in which she replied the same. After she returned with my card I checked my balance to see if I was charged and I was. I was okay with being charged because I would have had to pay either way. To me it was the bold face lie. The management staff offered a free round of shots but as we continued to have issues throughout the night they dissappeared. In the end if the service was better and the staff was more friendly I could possibly go back.
Unique experience, fun atmosphere, great drink options but the food is not that great. Otherwise this would be an easy 5 stars. Great time with group outings. Either bowling areas, video games, ping pong, or pool table. Lots of great options of have a great time.
The inside is very spacious with a restaurant-style seating area, two bars, private lounge rooms, tons of games, and much more. Staff is friendly and the food is delicious.
Wow really disappointed this visit! First of wasn’t happy that bar stools were removed from main bar and you could sit there. I ordered drink from bar and sat at round table in bar area waited 20 minutes and finally had to ask a random server if someone was waiting this area. Used to be one of my favorite spots In the D.
The area, atmosphere, the ambiance and perfect location right in the heart if Detroit Michigan .... IT'S OUR BIRTHDAY ????
Could've been a great experience but totally wasn't. We were there as a group. We were told we couldn't order food. Then we were told we could. Then some of us got happy hour prices but the rest of us didn't because they don't give happy hour prices to groups. We couldn't play darts or bowl or anything of that sort because everything was closed off for another party. Just very unorganized and unprofessional. Was totally bummed because I was looking forward to having a great experience!
Had a Cubano sandwich there. It was excellent from the first bite to the last. The southern themed menu and hipster decor is a good combination in the heart of Detroit. Would certainly come here again.
Drinks and food are good but you're paying a premium on location and ambience. The place has cool decor and interesting places to sit throughout the building. I don't think it's a great place to bring small children but older kids may be good.
Cocktails anyone? This is an ideal place to grab a drink with friends. If you're in the mood, try one of the specialty cocktails made with their homemade soda! Want dessert? Try one of their adult milkshakes that will be sure to satisfy your sweet tooth! Punch Bowl Social isn't just drinks, they also have a great menu filled with delicious food, an arcade, pool tables, darts, and bowling! This is a definite go-to place for anyone in Detroit!
This place was amazing when it first opened! Great and unique menu. Very interesting ambiance and plenty of games and activities to keep you entertained. However recently with the increasing popularity of downtown, this place is almost entirely unavailable on the weekends. They don't accept reservations, but you can rent out literally the entire place expect the one bar downstairs. This means every weekend if you plan on going to have fun with a group of friends, you won't. There is ALWAYS some corporate event that has the entire place reserved so you are left to stand without seating in a small circle around the very crowed bar, being pushed back and fourth because the area around the bar also doubles as the walk way and you will be constantly told to move to a none existing area. Once they figure out a working reservation system, or stop allowing the ENTIRE place to be reserved every weekend during peak hours. This place will be a gem again.
I wish my service went as good as the food as was. This visit took place a couple of months ago. We could only find one open table, and one of the seats had water spilled on it. We flagged someone down and asked them if we could have someone clean it or if we could get some paper towels. The guy said he'd go and get someone, and disappeared for 20 minutes. After 2 more attempts, someone finally came, wiped the seat, but left it wet. I had to get napkins from the bar and wipe it off myself. During this, we were waiting for a waiter/waitress to show up, who showed up 35 minutes from when we got there. She seemed really nice, and apologized for that inconvenience and took our orders. There seemed to be confusion on who was supposed to take our table. We didn't recieve any of our food until 40 minutes later, and we were just waiting on 2 appetizers. Multiple people stopped by to ask us if we were okay, including our waitress, as I guess someone was supposed to bring the food out by now, and they noticed we were all furious and looked distressed. We were not okay, obviously. Once we raised an issue about appetizers not coming out, they finally did and they were cool (as in temperature). Our entrees were warm, not hot, but they were good. The atmosphere seemed nice, and I wanted my first time there to go great, but it didn't. The kitchen and wait staff seemed disorganized that night, but our waitress was very friendly and I don't blame her for any of this. She seemed to be the only one trying to figure out what was going on with our food and was the only one that sincerely apologized. While there was a robotics tournament taking place during our visit, they all left 20 minutes after we arrived, and after that, there was no reason our food came out the way it did. The manager seemed indifferent to our situation, but she did comp one of our appetizers. Some of the friends in my group had been here before and enjoyed themselves, so I had high high hopes and will try this place again, but regarding this visit, I was not satisfied.
Nice facility but not the most friendly place to go during lunch hours. My after-hours experiences are really good but I wish it was also an inviting place to hang out and do stuff during lunch time. Food is pretty fair and prices are reasonable.
Had a party of about 10-12 people and we were celebrating an event, so we walk in and it’s busy with no tables or anywhere to sit. However the reason why this review is so low is that they had an small section of about 6 tables “closed” and wouldn’t even let us sit there. Like come on I get if you wanna close a section cause it isn’t busy but it’s literally 5 feet away and with a large party open it up, needless to say we left without spending a dime.
My friend and I shared the street tacos. SO GOOD!! My first drink, the watermelon punch bowl, was really good. The second one, Pegu, not so much. But the music was great, vibe was fun. The place was packed on a Friday night.
Went with a group of work people, for a vendor sponsored event. Good craft cocktails but pricey. Fun karaoke rooms. Small bowling alley with strings to reset pins, which we all thought was really funny {by that point, we had a few of the craft cocktails}. Fun place for a group event.
Party of 7 . Checked in with hostess. Was told to "Go away". I asked if she wanted my name or number to call when a table was ready. Her response was," No, just go away and come back in 5 min". If that's the first impression they give off, why bother giving them business. Very disappointed.
Way under staffed. Waited over an hour for a table. Finally grabbed a high top in the bar and could not get service. We finally walked down the street to Ready player one and were seated and served right away!
Food was fine. Lobster rolls were spicy for some reason. The service was a bit slow but our waitress was nice. Drinks were well done but again service times were not great. We did however really enjoy the street tacos and lobster fries.
This place has everything from bowling to pool to corn hole to great food and drinks. It was much bigger inside than I was expecting. We rented out the 2nd floor for a wedding reception and it was awesome! Great food and service!
Fun place with a great layout. Very hipster but that is ok. Fun bowling and activities and a nice big open space. Drinks are great. Food looks great but is nothing super amazing
Been here 3 times, and although I always have a good time, the bill at the end always shocks me. The food is great, the beer and drinks are great, the service is super friendly, and the games and activities are a ton of fun when there's not a long wait. My main issue, and the reason I'm not giving Punch Bowl Social 4 or 5 stars, is I just don't think the prices make sense, even compared to other places downtown.
Drinks are the only thing that are good, but can't find your waitress for refills/next round. Food was soggy and cold, and took over an hour to come to the table. Do not recommend.
Came to celebrate my birthday. Our waitress, Heather, was friendly with just the right amount of table touches. Our drinks and food were delicious at a reasonable price. We'll be back!
Awesome spot! The perfect place for any type of party or celebration. Many activities for friends and family from bowling, to darts, to arcade games. Oh, we can forget the centrally located bar. Keep it up!
The food was HORRIBLE! Our waitress was extremely rude and put my straw in my cup with her bare hand! Very unsanitary! The drink selection was very low grade, and the soda had a very bad aftertaste! Also, There were ladies in the restroom 3 & 4 to a stall doing drugs! I am NEVER going back!
It was super cute! The service was slow, but it was forgivable based on the NAB selection and taste of the homemade food. I would recommend this place if you are in the area and are looking for somewhere with a different, chill vibe.
They have great drinks and it's always a fun place to go with friends. Can get very busy though, especially during events.
THE BEST PLACE EVER!!! Had soooo much fun! Took me back to my childhood, to the coolest arcade ever...NBA Jam"BOOMSHAKALAKA", the original Skee•ball, basically any & every awesome game including some sweet new ones. There's entertainment for all ages here,,not to mention some really GREAT FOOD & DRINKS!!! You're guaranteed to have the best time!????
Just had a group party for my mother in law for her 50th Bday. They had a great menu, drinks kept coming and the staff was always around to make sure we were ok. I love how much room there is, very spacious and tons of activities to do. Arcade, bowling, pool, darts and photo booth. Nice spot in dowtown Detroit. Z Parking garage is right behind it and you can just use your card. It's very easy and stress free.
So disappointing. Drinks are overpriced and lack flavor. We got the Lobster Bacon Fries for an appetizer, the first time they came out cold, soggy, and bacon was no where to be seen. The second attempt was not an improvement. The third was just as bad, but at this point we felt like it was useless to try again. Plus, we were extremely hungry. Then our entrees came... Equally less than mediocre. My Impossible burger was essentially a hockey puck. Then when we were eating, a hostess came over and said "UH, did you just sit yourselves here or what?" So awkward and rude. Overall, overpriced and extremely low quality.
Cool place! First time here. Enjoyed lunch followed by a short 5 minute walk to Comerica Park to watch the Detroit Tigers. Food & service were great. We'll be back! Pictured: watermelon punch bowl for four. Yum
It was a cool place, had or work party here. Food they served for us was not good. The drinks were a little pricey for me but strong.
Planned a bridal shower event here. Not a good idea. The communication with the booking staff was horrible very unaccommodating. I tried to book for a party on 12 on line you can only book for 6. I called for weeks finally when spoke to someone. They were down right rude to me. I should have cancelled but the invitation s had been sent out. The day of the event the food was subpar and the drinks were weak. The Manager was arrogant when I complained. I hate when restaurants move in downtown Detroit, and feel they can treat the native Detroiters any old way, serve was anything and treat us any kind of way and we just have to take it. I will never do business here again.
Loved this place, and might go back. Our waiter Raymond was amazing! My friends and I got a late night snack after a Luke Bryan concert and it was quick and so delicious. However, don’t you dare rest your eyes for more than 8 seconds. After working a 16 hour shift (I’m a nurse) I decided I would live a little and meet up with friends to enjoy my Friday night. Mind you I had nothing to drink because I needed to drive home and never made any scene the entire night but when my friends went to use the restroom before heading home I closed my eyes for no more than 10 seconds, I kid you not! When I opened my eyes all I saw was the manager holding a flash light to my face surrounded by three bouncers. She forcefully told me I was not allowed to close my eyes or appear to be drunk in anyway or I will be removed. While I understand this is an issue on Friday nights (I’m a nurse!!) there needs to be discretion and empathy when dealing with customers.
What a fun bar! Husband and I decided to explore Detroit for the day and stumbled upon the Punch Bowl. The drinks were tasty and food pretty good fod bar food. The games were a nice addition, they have bowling and an arcade. Definitely worth a visit!
Waiter must've counted us out from the start and was checking on every other table more than ours. Forgot to bring us silverware my son's had to wait at least 10-15 mins later after their brunch arrived to eat because they didn't have any utensils.
The staff seemed friendly, maybe a little clingy, they could use just a little more tact when checking on their tables but otherwise super nice. Great place for a beer and dinner, and I was tempted to book a party when I saw the arcade games and bowling alley.
Worst service I have experienced. Over priced and out of a lot of general food and beverages. Chips, fries, vodka, orders were wrong and food not brought or completely forgotten. It was our first time and was very disappointed and will not return.
Horrible service and scammed everyone on their bills. Service was horrible . The bartender never once smiled . I’ve worked in the service industry.. bad day or not you are a server that should cater to your guests. Especially for a party that big that they can make a lot of money on if they are worth it! These servers/bartenders were NOT! We went there for my nieces 21st bday party . Agreed that the bill had to be a minimum of $1000 for the reservation.. for everyone there! We had a minimum of 50 people there , so there should have been no problem reaching that $1000 bill goal . When everyone started cashing out their “tabs” it was a cluster . Overcharged for drinks, extra drinks on bills , charged two different prices for the same drink, said they cashed out my daughters bill without her even looking at it, then at the end tried charging my brother the whole $1000! Scammers!!! I’m sure a lot of the people left not even checking their bills and got over charged. Fun concept for the games and party .. too bad the bartenders thought we wouldn’t notice them trying to up charge the bills. I would never recommend this place. Sadly the younger people that probably frequent there get overcharged all the time.
Great place to go out with a group of friends. They have almost any of the typical bar activities you know all in one convenient place. The activities are not too expensive, the beer selection are great and their signature punch bowls are really great innovative. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable on the drinks. We ordered some appetizers while bowling and they were all great. Definitely plan on coming back here.
First time at punch bowl, got the pablano Mac n cheese and a couple (cheap) happy hour drinks. DELICIOUS. Had Rorie as our server & she did an excellent job! Super chill atmosphere and incredibly reasonable prices on all food & drinks. Will be coming back!!
Great place for groups. Billiards, bowling, games. Tappers we're not working when we were there. Waitress was nice but the walk up service at the bar was terrible. Chicken nachos were tasty.
Great spot for a girls night out. The staff was great and very attentive. They had a great variety of fresh juices, non-alcoholic sodas as well as mixed drinks. The menu is very unique. We especially liked the street tacos. There is a small arcade area, darts, shuffleboard & a small bowling alley all on the other side with a large bar & DJ. Overall a good experience!
Wish i could give negative stars. Notoriously and Admittedly racist toward African Americans. Wont service us meals, lies to us about kitchen hours all while serving meals to other arriving patrons! Pukeworthy!! I wont return and will tell everyone i know about your disgusting customer service.
We went for the National Championship last night and it was fun. Good drinks and our waitress was great. However, the hardass manager made us leave with 5 min to go in the game because he wanted to close down. Seemed to take pleasure in knowing we were missing the end of the game because of his vast power and superiority.
All around fun. Darts, billards, arcades, even karaoke. As exotic and diverse as this place so too are the menu items, from drinks to cooked menu items. The Punch Bowl definitely has it ALL!
Great Atmosphere, Good People, Good Drinksand Food
I love this place. The food was delicious and service was excellent! The staff were kind, friendly and helpful. I had the great experience! Highly Recommend!!!
This place was only ok. Everything tasted watered down or lacked seasoning. It was super packed though and the atmosphere lively. I may try it again when in the area The drink pictured is a juiced ginger, carrot strawberry drink. I juice often and my juices taste better than this ever could. It tasted like they added water and it lacked the zing of ginger. The queso was ok. I added the green chorizo wixh helped. I got had a side of guac that I had to add a dash of salt to to pick it up. Over all it really was ok and over priced
Group of six had dinner there. Food was average, yet over priced. Mixed drinks were weak. 2nd floor wasn't open due to a private party. Wouldn't recommend. Other places are better value.
We love the craft drinks and local brews. And there’s always something to do, whether it’s bowling or bocce ball. There’s a space for everyone and every event. It’s worth the hour drive for an awesome night out in Detroit!
My sister in laws birthday party was held here. The food and drinks were good. The bathrooms are in need of cleaning and up3.
This place is sweet, massive floor-plan with multiple seating areas. The vibe is woodsy chic, plenty of live edge wood table tops and ruffled chairs. There is a large bar on the first floor and two floors of bowling lanes.
Fun atmosphere and lots of interesting cocktails/punches to try. Wings on appetizer menu are best I've ever had. Usually can find a place to sit even on weekends. Bowling and arcade games are fun but not cheap. Was bummed up find out this was a chain and not local to Detroit.
I think it was the servers first night on the job. Food was overpriced and was probably worse than Applebee's. Manager kept coming over and apologizing. It took us almost 3 hours to eat dinner. I guess hipsters are ok with overpaying for sub par food and service.
My son and I have our monthly outings. We chose Punch Bowl as it was both of our first time. The food and drinks were delicious! The staff were all friendly and in positive spirit, considering the climate of our nation. We danced, laughed and took tons of photos. Finished our night with bowling. We had so much fun! Looking forward to going back soon!
Went for a work party and was absolutely impressed with the entire venue! The atmosphere was so laid back and fun! The food was amazing and the waitstaff and bartenders were so amazing and professional. Bowling, cornhole and karaoke. I can't recommend this place enough. Considering looking into booking it for our future wedding reception. Can't wait to come back and experience it all over again! The wings, sliders, Mac and cheese...Oh! And the queso and chips. You gotta have those. Soooo Good! Thanks again
Visited twice and enjoyed myself both times. They have great specialty drinks but my favorite was the bacon milkshake. The moscow mule is also good. Food is slightly elevated bar food like the candied bar nuts. Not what i expected as it was had the texture of toffee and nuts. The rosemary added an oft putting flavor. The rest of the menu is stellar. I had the Cuban sandwich which reminded me of my time in Florida. If you host an event, this is the place to do it. There catered menu is really good from sliders to shrimp they have it. Mix in screens for sports and bowling, its hard not to be entertained
Service: Our waitress was very nice but the establishment had her working in places all over the bottom floor. Ten minutes to get a waitress. 15 minutes to get mostly beers and two specialty drinks. 10-15 minutes waiting the bill. Another 10 minutes waiting for her to get change. Food: I got the $17 chicken and waffles because the description sounds amazing. Jalapeno and pecan maple syrup...yummy. Except what I got was a mostly dry waffle with none on the side. The syrup had very little jalapeno in it. The chicken was pretty good except that the thigh had a bone in it. I really don't want bones in a waffle. My wife got the monkey bread french toast and it was okay (sauce was very good). Bowling: previous reviewers said it. Don't come here to bowl if you really want to bowl. For the price, it wasn't that great of a time. Karoke: Private room with two microphones was fun. Get a group and do this for sure. You don't have to get up in front of an entire bar. I would head back knowing the service was better and I would choose different food to order.
My cousin and I ordered food one night before the kitchen closed and about an hour prior to the bar closing we didn't receive our good. Management refunded our money and made our order to go. After the leaving the restaurant I looked it my food and there was a bite taken out it my taco. I appreciated the refund but was disgusted by my food being eaten.
Super fun and lively bar with something for everyone. Bowling, darts, drinks, and friendly people. Takes a while to get the bartender's attention so be proactive!
Nice atmosphere and has fun games. The coca dusted carnitas tacos were really delicious but tiny. They're about 3/4 the size of the other tacos while also more expensive. Without the fries I would have left hungry.
Can't go wrong with this place if you're under 50, like bar/arcade games and good drinks, food has been meh both times I've been here and service is on the slow side
We ate around noon on a Saturday so they still had the brunch menu which seemed a little limited however the food was fantastic. The French dip is AMAZING (very tender and tasty)! The chips and queso and chips and guacamole were great appetizers. Rosemary parmesan fries are great! Two of the kids ordered breakfast which was better than a lot of breakfast only restaurants. The place is HUGE inside. Bowling was fun but very expensive. Two of the lanes were out of order while we were there and there was an hour wait to get a lane. Beer and food prices are on par with other downtown restaurants. We will go back again, maybe just not with the whole family next time. I'm only dinging the one star for the overall experience. The food alone would get 5 stars.
Punch Bowl Social is honestly such a cool place. They have bowling and karaoke, plus their macaroni and cheese is TOP NOTCH. I got a shirley temple and their bartender did a pretty good job and was very friendly. Overall, I'd go there again!
Today was my first time coming here, and I will NEVER return back to this place again. Our waitress came over gave us waters and menus, and NEVER came back to our table, even having 2 tables right next to us, and had the nerve to say did someone come over he literally sat and waited 25 mins for them to come to us and ask us for whatever drinks we wanted, didn’t get our drinks until about 15-17 mins later, then when she came the food took forever to come over. They did ask us if we wanted appetizers on the house, which was nice of them but it didn’t make up for the wait we had to endure. Finally our food came and my sandwich and and fries were completely cold and my friend chicken was completely cold and very hurting and well done. This place doesn’t knows how to work under a lot of pressure when it comes to a lot of ppl being serviced. Drinks were good tho!
First time here, would definitely recommend it. Fun atmosphere and great music. Loved that there was so much to do all in one place, really perfect for a first or second date. Try the Adult milkshakes and street tacos! Staff was very friendly.
Came here on a slow day and service was still amazing! Food and drinks were good. This place would definitely be great for a group. So many activities and things to do!
Vibrant and big space! Went in for happy hour food/drinks. The bartender was friendly and recommended local beers as I was visiting Detroit for the first time. Settled on Rochester Mills Juice bigalow which was really good. Got the nachos mamas to munch on and it was really good! Place seems perfect for events. They also have an area for games. Good experience overall.
This venue is decent but has a very corporate feel to it. It may be because the spaces are almost always rented out to businesses for event, making it even more crowded that it already is. The food and drinks are ok, but nothing memorable. The karaoke room is really quiet and does not work very well - I recommend staying away from that. I've also had very negative interactions with managers on the restaurant side in the past. On one occasion, we had an extra guest join while sitting at a table. Without even asking them, the group next to us asked if we wanted a chair because we weren't using it. The manager saw this happen and came over to chew us out for a solid five minutes. She was quite literally screaming at the top of her lungs at us about how unacceptable it was for us to borrow a chair at a restaurant. Very unprofessional. After that, I only really went for the bar area but don't tend to make it there much anymore.
We came with a party of 10 and we were not disappointed. Raymond was our server and he was absolutely amazing! The food was great! From start to finish a great experience!
This is the third time that I've attempted to visit this business, and I had a bad experience yet again. When I enter the establishment, NOBODY bothers to help you. We stood there in the front for a while, looking around trying to find someone to seat us or give us information, nobody did. We took it upon ourselves to find an employee, we found a nice lady at the bowling section who told us the prices of bowling and such. When we asked about food, we were told that our server would just come to our table when we sat down. We sat at a table in the bowling section for an hour -- even played 2 whole games and nobody ever came. When we were starved after bowling, we asked about food again. We were told that we could order at the bar or sit down and someone will come. We gave it another shot. When sat down, someone came up to us and asked if we had been seated by a server and given a menu, we responded "no, we were told to just sit down and a server would be over." The employee told us that that was false and we had to go to the front again to be seated. There was a group of employees standing there in conversation and laughter, I didn't even know they were servers! When they finally realized us standing there, yet again, they came up and finally asked if we wanted to eat. We said yes and was finally seated. We got about 3 different servers before we even ordered our food, we just ended up leaving as the menu wasn't even worth all of the trouble we were going through. This establishment is very unorganized and the customer service is extremely poor. The only helpful person was the woman at the bowling section, she seemed to genuinely want to help and get us served food immediately, and it's just a shame that she couldn't because she wasn't a server. Please change your policies to better regulate hour patrons. This place could be way better if it was ran correctly.
This review is based on customer service. I haven't (and won't) be going here. Tried to reserve for a large party for my birthday. Service on the phone was short, highly-scripted (and not particularly well- they kept repeating the same policies), and unaccommodating. Though I was bringing a party of 12-15 they were unable to make dinner reservations or reserve the karaoke rooms. Email to the event manager went unanswered. The feel was that they were too good to provide good service, and that the customer (me) was not important. Not what Detroit is about.
Came here early on a Tuesday night with the family, figured we could eat and play some games. Service was absolutely horrible. Slow would be an understatement. Food was hit or miss, some things were fantastic and yet the burger was completely overcooked. The nail in the coffin was when they wanted an extra 12 dollars to let my 2 year old in the bowling alley.
This review is of a visit I had recently on a Thursday night. I went on a first date with someone and he picked this spot. It was really quiet for a Thursday night. The bartenders were very knowledgeable about the variety of whiskey they had. They were quick on their feet to improvise when I asked for a drink they didn't have the original ingredients for and their concoction actually tasted even better. It was my first date in years and I had a really goid time. I'm sure we will be back. The music was nice too.
The atmosphere was playful and fun. The service was good and so was the food. Can't ask for better than that. I will definitely be back.
Typical punch bowl (along with the typical punch bowl prices, ha ha). Lots of fun things to do. Fun place to hang before a Tigers game. All the workers are always friendly and helpful.
Great food, great staff, great management. My sister and I had the wings, chicken and waffles and the sheet of nachos with the delicious pork belly. It was so good!!!! Also our server, Rubi, was absolutely amazing and so personable and fun. I wish her and the manager could have sat down and ate with us. It was as if we'd known them for along time... that was the feel I got. Also the games were fun too. Good atmosphere. Will be going again the next time we're in town.
I’ve been here a handful of times and will go back again, but I always feel a bit disappointed. I’d like this place to really be great, but it’s...fine. You can’t beat the look and feel of the restaurant, as it’s very different than most places in the area. The food is just ok. I want it to taste as good as it looks, but I tend to feel let down. Not bad enough to never want to go back, but not good enough to rave about.
Have a great time at the Punchbowl Society, I was there on a Super Bowl party eat all. Food was good, people with great. The servers was awesome. I even got to bowl a game. I will certainly be back.
Prices pretty high. But service was excellent. The Bartenders were great. The Suggestion for the IPA was perfect. Would have gotten 5 stars but they didn't have carrot cake. And The strawberry cake was old and tastes of refrigerator.
3 out of 4 orders were wrong. Manager nick was very nice and came out and apologized. We had what I would consider the most unenthusiastic waitress. When asking how something was she didn’t answer. When asking her opinion she basically made it out as the food was terrible. After the kitchen screwed up everything the manager said he realized all the mistakes and would take care of our dinner. Well that’s not what happened. They instead took of the two cheapest items, one of which was the only thing right, and left the most expensive items on the bill. It’s nice to recognize mistakes but don’t make a promise you don’t intend to keep. I should have listened to the reviews and kept in mind how bad service was and food issues were. Won’t return.
Really good food and yummy drinks. Prices are a bit expensive for amount of food you get. Last time I went, I ordered the crab rangoon dip, shrimp tacos, and an almond joy milkshake and really enjoyed it all.
Punch Bowl Social is the epitome of social a social setting! Your one stop shop for fun and entertainment! Great for a fun date (especially a first date), group hangout and watching your favorite sports team!
Poor service. Rude staff. Unclean business practices. We had reservations at 5:30 last night ahead of going on one of the peddle bars. We showed up at 5:15 and were told our table wasn’t ready yet. So we went to the bar to get a drink. We were about 10 feet away from the host stand. At about 5:40 we went to the host stand to inquire about our table and were told that they texted us and since we didn’t respond, they gave our table away. I showed my phone that I never received a text. So they said they were going to get another table ready. At 6pm we went to the host stand to ask if it was ready and he was super rude - giving us an attitude saying our table has been ready, but we didn’t come back to be taken to our table??!! We were standing RIGHT there by the host stand and he NEVER indicated it was ready. To top it off, the whole time we stood there, the host was using a handkerchief from his pocket to blow his nose or cough into it, repeatedly, and then go set tables without ever washing his hands! It was so disgusting! After finally being seated, we sat there for 10 minutes and never had a server greet us, so we left. Then they reported to open table that we were a no show. I will never come back to this place!
Long wait, completely understaffed for a peak dinner time. Waitress was nice though and food was delicious, management needs to learn how to run a place with more than 2-3 servers during a huge place during peak times.
Wow this place is awesome, so much to do! Food, drink and bowling, plus some more I probably missed. We stopped by here before a tiger game and it was worth it, my only gripe was the lack of service.
Good food. Decent drinks. Pretty crowded on the a Sunday night.
The mint milkshake was so good! Definitely the saving grace of our food order. The Canadian appetizer was definitely too big to share between two people, I'd definitely recommend splitting it at least between four people because the cheese curds are huge and it's a heavy dish. The kettle chips were okay, I'm used to getting them freshly fried and warm from other restaurants so I was surprised to get them cold. The grilled cheese was subpar, the menu said it was a sharp cheddar but it tasted too mild for that? Our server was unenthused and inattentive - however, the man who brought us our water when we sat down (don't remember his name, he had short hair and was wearing a plaid shirt) was SO knowledgeable about the specials and the story behind the menu, and seemed really passionate about the restaurant. We were really impressed with his enthusiasm - give that guy a raise! On the other side of the restaurant, the arcade is a small selection of games but we had fun playing the pinball games.
Fun, safe, friendly and welcoming to all. A spot to eat, drink and play. They serve great food, have vegetarian options including my favorite, the new "Impossible burger" They have fun adult specialty beverages, great desserts all served in a spacious atmosphere, including big comfy chairs by a fireplace. I suggest you give this place a try. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
Fun place for a group to come for drinks or host a party. The food is pretty good depending on what you order. I like the tacos. The drinks are great and the bartenders are nice. The prices on drinks can be a little high though.
Always a great time at punch bowl! great diverse friendly accommodating service it was a staple before corona and after it will still be
I drove a friend down for a mystery shopper event on st pattys. given the occasion, it wasn't over crowded, the place was properly staffed for the occasion, the upper floor was reserved so I didn't see it and I also didn't day anything, that's the only reason I did not go higher or lower than three stars. They don't have a big selection of arcade games, but they have bowling lanes and a foosball table which is a great trade off lol
Food was below average, expect a lot better service and food quality in this price range. Pub chips were completely cold and unseasoned with even salt. Got the sharp cheddar grilled cheese it came with white cheddar not really good for grilled cheese, the cheese was thoroughly melted but still came out barely what you would consider warm not sure how they pulled that off. Atmosphere was cool and the staff was friendly, got better service from the guy who brought the water than our waitress.
The place has everything! Great food, great drinks, and great entertainment. Whether you want to bowl, play arcade games, eat great food, or watch a game, this place has it all. We loved our server and the food was amazing. With it's location in the heart of Detroit it makes it a great place to get your night started off right.
Good drinks, karaoke done right, such a fun place!
Went for a light meal and the bill came to a little over $30, when I added a $7 tip a little over $40 . Paid with my card, and a couple days later a charge of $75 show up on my card. After calling and going back to Punch Bowl, called again three days after I noticed the charge on my card. Jessica was the manager on duty. She was able to find the problem, ant was actually able to resolve the issue in minutes. Something that the manager who I contacted the Saturday before didn’t do.
I was thrilled to have Maria and Mika host me at my companies holiday party this year!! they were amazing, so attentive, on the ball and always making sure my team was having a great time. Food was great! Activities were great! Staff was delightful! Aqua tots of Detroit will back next year again because of this amazing team!
Drink are a bit steep and u have to pay for parking or walk 3lbks from Greektown. Lots of entertainment karaoke, bowling etc
I've been there three times. It's a good place to do common social events such as bowling, karaoke, cornhole and board games. There are multiple bars and sitting areas to enjoy as well. If you want to enjoy all the aspects of the venue get there early. If you arrive late and sign up for an activity you may never get called. The earlier the better. I haven't had any issues with the service at all. Everyone seems pretty nice. You may not want to go here for food though. What they have is overpriced for the amount of food you get. Example: my group ordered some tacos($2 each) and some wings. While commercially tastey, the tacos were TINY, there were only about 4 wings. We could went to Alley Taco or Basement Burger for better and more fulfilling food and appetizers. Since it is a popular place the drinks are also expensive. Three house beers cost almost $30. It's okay beer. I could have gotten double the amount of beers somewhere else. Overall it's a great place, but be ready to spend around $50-$80 per person.
Cool place to play like a kid, but the bar staff is pretty sad... I had a few look through me when I needed a drink, no one ever asked me if I needed a drink, I had to flag the bartender down; one felt a need to finish texting before he could walk over to me. Service seemed to be the main problem, otherwise this would be a great spot
We loved this place. Service was good. Pulled pork sandwich was amazing. Fries were plenty and nicely seasoned. We will come back.
Horrible service. We were never really checked on and made to feel that we should be lucky the bartender that was short staffed waited on our table. The games rental people were rude. Our food was made wrong, had to flag a manager down to fix it. No apologies were given. In fact, every staff member we encountered, acted as though we were annoying them! ????I don't drink, but my friends all said the drinks were watered down and expensive. Fun concept but very poorly ran.
I have tried this place six times before reviewing. Every time has been a little lackluster. Tonight though was just bad. 60 minute wait for a table and during that wait I ordered a White Russian which was given to me as Khulua and ice. We waited 90 minutes for our food and when it arrived it was ice cold...for all five people at our table. We tipped our waiter well because it’s not his fault. When leaving the manager asked us what went wrong and after offering nice constructive criticism she banned us from returning. Ridic.
The food and drinks are good, but the service is slow as frozen molases. we waited 25 minutes to order food after being seated, then finally got our food an hour after being seated. the prices are reasonable for the quality of the food, but due to the service being completely neglected, I wouldn't return or recommend this place.
Nice place for brunch and great bloodymarry bar. But our server was overwhelmed. And so servo e was slow. My old fashioned was not good. Simple syrup instead of cube not Balanced correctly.
My boyfriend and I came for drinks and food and the food was absolutely terrible as well as our drinks. I asked for a specific drink and instead of letting me know that it would be double the price the waitress charged me without notice. So instead of an $8 drink, I paid $16. On top of that, our drinks didn't come until we were halfway done with the wings. We ordered French fries that we ended up canceling because they never made it to the table. We had to request water and our bill several times before we actually got it. All around it was the worse $44 I've ever spent.
There are games and the drinks are moderate to expensive. Nice atmosphere though.
Great environment! People are having fun, and it's a fun time to hang with friends or your family. Activists and games give this place a little something extra too. Definitely coming back.
Food is great very well cook and flavors are balanced. The pool table is slanted. The bowling lanes are not oiled making spins impossible. Not sure how the arcade is. Good food so so entertainment. Would give it 4 stars but since it advertises itself as bowl slash games venue I had to take a star away for not meeting that standard well.
Drinks and Atmosphere are very good. The bowling pins are on strings and can get stuck from time to time. Overall its a great place to go with a group of friends.
Lunch service was super pleasant, and the Cubano sandwich I had featured very tasty smoked pork, but the rest of the sandwich was a little on the bland side. The atmosphere was cool, and it looks like a good place for an after work drink and games with friends.
Smaller then other city Punch Bowl Social's. Food was amazing, mixed cocktail menu was delicious. Service was a little off but overall fun vibe.
It's fun in here, BUT... it seems like they went for having all of it without doing any of it really well. The bowling lanes are super cheap, the bowling balls kept getting stuck and a "happy birthday" kept appearing on the screen when someone would make a strike (super weird). The arcades are present, but they are not the best either. Just a few pinball machines and couple actual arcades. There is also pool and axe throwing which are hard to mess up, but due to amount of people coming in and limited amount of those, good luck getting a spot. All in all, it's an OK place. The food is OK. The drinks are....OK? The bowling, arcade, pool etc are... OK I guess? Question is why go there for "OK", if you can go somewhere else that concentrates on one thing and does it really well?
Came in before a tigers game with friends, waited a minute for a table, but they were busy. Took awhile to get drinks and take our order. The wait on food was quite awhile so we cancelled it a left for the game. Drinks seemed crazy weird but not bad. Too expensive for a cocktail with cheaper liquor.
The food was good and they apparently have a scratch kitchen. I got a New Chicken Sandwich, which was tasty. You'll drink out of mason jars and there are other modern/hipster details all over. Neat place!
Pretty cool place for a fun game night out with friends. I wish they had more pool tables though, only having one kind of bums me out and it tends to be grabbed out really fast as soon it's free.
Extremely crowded, mediocre food at best, and waiting 45+ minutes for your food to arrive! Our meal arrived prior to our appetizer and we could never seem to find our waitress when we needed her! It took another 30 minutes to leave after we had paid the waitress because we were waiting for our receipts. Won't be returning.
This place is okay but really outsized on price, 35.00 for 3 drinks during happy hour? What. Doesn't justify the price, many better deals literally footsteps from here with way better service, can't even get the attention of bartenders half the time. Not impressed. Had to stand up and get service 2 out of 3 times. This place has been on a decline for years.
They have an extensive menu. The food is delicious. There are multiple seating areas that give to different vibes. A great deal to do recreationally with karaoke rooms, bowling and games. Multiple bars set up so that you can take a date and feel like you are bar crawling all within one building. The prices are fair. Top 5 best spots to visit in metro Detroit.
Do your friends want to go out, but all you want to do is hang out in the clubhouse? Why not do both! If you're looking to have some adult fun while keeping your inner child happy, this is the place
The food was okay--the chips and dip were bland. Open bar for a party but they "couldn't make" a lot of requested drinks. There were tons of games and karaoke though. Definitely worth a visit if you've never been here before.
This place is so fun, can’t wait to come back!
Been wanting to go to this place for awhile finally got the chance today and I really enjoyed the experience the food was really good too I'm planning to come back here for my birthday in a few weeks.
Stopped here on the walk back from the Fox Theater to Greektown. It's a fun place, has a few bowling lanes and a few games. Lots of comfortable seating and some lounge areas. Also seemed to have good selection of beers.
Their food and drink menu is amazing, even if you're vegan. The space is beautiful, spacious and has much more to do than eat, like bowl, relax by a fireplace, and even has arcade games on the opposite side.
Kool place for adults only. Great for seating large parties of people. Staff was nice. Professional bartenders. The menu needs to be taste tested. Although the menu/drink list is eclectic, it doesn't measure up to it's expectations. If you choose to order from the lists/menu, please be open minded and ready to experiment with your money on line.
The food is usually either bland or has very little of it for the price you pay. Service is up and down. When ordering take out....it is usually always down. Bouncers and hosts are usually nice here. Ordering food is still a hassle especially for what you get. Also always check your order before leaving. Typically one thing is usually missing. The karoke would be nice if it was ventilated. It gets hot in there....Very hot and muggy. I will day though that their milkshakes are quite good.
Took a date here for a causal fun night, blown away over HOW much fun we had. You can sit down and have a nice meal, and walk over to a whole new section of the building with bowling alleys, pool, and a little arcade. Great time here, try the monkey bread
Two bartenders for the large main bar. It took 20+ minutes to get a few drinks, tried to order food and bartenders could care less about delivering it. Good for private parties but not if you go in a small group
First experience was wonderful! The food was great, service was good, and the energy in there was lively. Would come back again!
Wonderful wait staff! Friendly and welcoming. The food was subpar. There are definitely places in the City with better chicken and waffles
Very neat spot. It is welcoming in a weird hipster way. The DJ (aka vlc music player) played music very very loud, making it very difficult to talk by the main bar (which seems to be where all the main speakers are) however the music was a normal volume everywhere else.
We had a blast. Good food, great drinks decorated pretty cool. Took my girlfriend here and we had a blast just another Detroit place that I just found out about. Stop saying guys there’s nothing to do in Detroit when there’s tons of things to do punch bowl social is one of them
This place is really diverse a nice get together for all ages it is a different vibe from the lower level than the higher level I prefer the lower level the only reason why I did not get 5 stars is because The music that they play doesn't add to the vibe. I recommend a DJ or a juke box
Kind of a new Detroit bar scene staple. Huge venue to get a good drink and some food. They have some of their own cocktails and drinks that are quite good, but be careful the entire place is often closed down for private parties.
Not so great to bad service. Food was not good either. We were a party of 10 and nobody really enjoyed their meal. I don't like giving a 2 - star rating but that's what this place is. Go there for the fun and drinks not the food and service. Better after 10pm probably.
I attended a company event here yesterday and really enjoyed it! The staff was nice and attentive, bowling and arcade games were enjoyed by all, and the food was good. Definitely recommend.
Not the best. Not even mediocre. Food was overpriced and not even that good. Waiter was gone for 30 minutes and then came back and explained to the table how he blew up the bathroom. Needless to say I wont be back.
This was our first time there, cool atmosphere, great waitress. We ordered 3 appetizers, 4 drinks, and 4 entrees. Everything came out cold, the knockoff burger and fries were cold and the carnitas were cold, the chicken salad is raw green beans, chopped kale, and chicken (way to much kale) the drinks were great Strawberry Daiquiri was elegant and tasteful (not a frozen daiquiri) my husband also special ordered a mojito and that was good, the drink do not taste very strong of alcohol which was great for us. They only have 2 single bathrooms which seems like poor planning for a place this big, they do have changing tables though so that is nice. We were going to play bowling it was $12 per person per hour which is fine but socks were $7 so make sure to bring your own. We decided not to play due to that. Be prepared to pay to do everything. Also the bartender kept knock glass cups off the bar it happened 3 times when we were there.. glass shattering everywhere. I wish it was a better experience but we will probably not be going back. I recommend going for drinks and appetizers just make sure to ask that the food be hot! ????????♀️
SUPER cute place with lots of games. Their service is impeccable and nonjudgmental. They are accommodating to dietary restrictions (dairy free and gluten free) and their food and drinks are all delicious! Our family went here for a birthday celebration and got a karaoke room and sang our hearts out for an hour and a half. They served us drinks in the room as well. The decorations were beautiful and there's plenty of other stuff to do after dinner as well besides Karaoke including bowling, pool, etc. If I could I would totally do a bachelor party or big event here.
Here's a tip, go in the off hours if you want to play games. The lanes are often booked, but the place is massive for being downtown, there's plenty of room to grab a drink and some food, and it's great place for groups. Be careful with the punch, some of them are strong. There's a small arcade, rooms for karaoke, a shuffleboard table, darts, some bowling lanes... The brunch bloody Mary bar is a sight to behold...
I came to Detroit to spend Thanksgiving with family and friends. I was taken here for dinner on Friday. Bad choice. After being seated the server told us we had to order drinks and our food at the same time because she had a 2 large parties. We should've left after that. But we did and it got worse. We ordered the Punch Bowl and our glasses were filthy when i said something the server seemed irritated!! Our food finally came and i asked for no lettuce on my burger. When it came i can tell it had lettuce and was picked off. After sending it back 2 times the Manager finally came and spoke to me and got me a fresh burger. Well after a $95 bill and bad service we left. Trust me i wont be back. Bad service and non existent management!!!
Unique atmosphere, but service didn't seem to be very motivated. Maybe it was just a rough night...but the menu is very unique aimed towards more of a whole foods style with some twists on the classics. Interesting assortment of drinks and a cool concept for a social atmosphere. We went here for dinner around 9pm and it seemed the crowd was there for a more"social" atmosphere rather then dinner. I may go back to experience it as a bar next time rather then a dinner spot at that time of night.
The place is cool but we litterly had no where to sit even though half the tables were empty. Apparently half the tables were reserved. We couldn't go in certain sections of the bar because apparently they were reserved aswell. The only place to sit was at the bar which we didn't want. So we ended up leaving to another place.
Bartender was horrible!!!!!!! No water no napkins. Ordered food after waiting for service. Had to tell the bartender to wipe the bar (the Receipt was still there along with glasses and waste from last guest) when food did arrive we had nothing to eat it with. Ordered a Long Island and never received it. In the middle of ordering our food he just turned away to attend to someone else. I will never go back and I will never refer. I’m am very upset that his bad service has gone Unnoticed so much so that he still is employed.
Locals recommended this place since we were traveling with a dozen teenagers. Cool game room and tasty food! Small portions. Took a large party without any problem.
Fun place but super busy on the weekends. Most of the best things to do there were reserved for parties or full. Best to go through the week. Food was good and drinks did not disappoint. Service was also really good.
Drinks are fantastic. Staff are friendly and attentive. Drag brunch was great. Oh ya, the brunch itself was really good! Lived the mexicana theme food and the standard brunch fare!
Visited Sunday Oct. 29th for a wedding party. Went to have a good time bowling, it is a fun atmosphere. Drinks are weak and expensive, but that's not my complaint. Being that they have old, unmaintainanced bowling balls, my thumb was gashed on the first throw. Now this is fine, had the place actually done something to apologize or even show they cared that a customer injusred themselves and it was purely their fault. The bartender took 5 minutes looking for medical supplies while I sat there bleeding on the bar. Came back simply with bandaids. I left and went to the hospital, 4 stitches. On my thumb. The manager never even came out to talk to me, no incident report written or followed up on. Needless to say, they will be receiving a notice from my attorney.
Fun place for drinks day and night! Their brunch here is fantastic too with an extensive Bloody Mary bar
It seems they focused more on atmosphere then food, which is okay. There are plenty of things to do from darts to bowling. Their punches are unique but in my opinion often too sweet. The staff is always fun and friendly. The food is nothing unique and stuck in the middle of comfort food, traditional bar food, and a contemporary menu. Bring a group of friends, enjoy some games, have some fun.
usually love coming to this bar but was rudely ignored by the server Chelsea that came to our table originally. she dropped off waters and menus, let us know all info and then NEVER came back to us, obviously avoiding and ignoring us even tho she had a table DIRECTLY next to us. had to get drinks from the bar and ask another server to help us since ours decided to just clearly ignore. the server we got was great he was very helpful, but I hope no one ever gets the rude server Chelsea.
I went here for a birthday party and the staff did a swell job with organizing the event. They continuously checked in on us and stayed close by. The place itself, is a great venue for any type of party. Lots of things to do for all ages.
Great food and really fun atmosphere. Took the family there with kids 12 and 14. Only downside was how long it took the food to come out. However, there was a Lions AND and Tigers game that day, so I understand the wait.
We ordered the special and a French toast for breakfast. The service and coffee were good but the food was so *heavy*. I could not finish the toast or eat anything for many hours afterwards. I would go back for drinks maybe, but but not for food.
This place has the best veggie burger I've ever had in my life! It taste like a real meat burger but better. It's hard to describe other than pure deliciousness. All the menu items look good. The atmosphere is great and they have a live DJ. It is set up to your taste as well. One side is a sit down restaraunt the other is a bar with upstairs and downstairs bowling and darts. A table game that reminds me of shuffle board and lounge areas. It's a lively crowd. Only thing I didn't like is the bathrooms. In the restaraunt area they only had 1 bathroom and it was unisex. It's not clearly marked and you the way to it is a pain. And yes, there are often people in there.
We went for brunch. Service was very good. I didn't realize Hugh Acheson was affiliated with the restaurant, so that made me excited to try it.. The grits bowl was excellent, and I'd definitely go back.
New shrimp burger was good! A little overly seasoned but I'd still order it again. Fries are savory, nachos were good. I would have liked to see a few more beer selections on the menu. But I'm from North Carolina so maybe beer isn't as big in Detroit aside from founder's. Anyway, this multi-experience late night spot is definitely an easy go-to for locals. A mini arcade, vip, bowling lanes, bar area and restaurant area give a little bit of everything for every audience. There's an upstairs too. Enjoyed the service, experience and quality.
Great places for groups of people. The drinks were well made. We didn’t bowl but we played a couple of the arcade games and had a good time.
Staff was friendly but slightly overbearing (interrupted by many staff members many times) Food was pretty good; large portions. The main attraction of this place was closed for a private party (party of 3 people)
The service on a pretty low key Saturday was impossibly slow. Drinks that were ordered never showed up. We were there for almost 2 hours and only 2/4 of us received what we ordered. We repeatedly asked for the bill and never received it. We had to leave money with a friend that was still hanging out to finally be able to leave. I would not recommend going unless you've got an entire evening to dedicate to the place.
Unprofessional for this one server to be eating from a plate that was refused by its guest in the open ( take that to the back), in which one from the kitchen offered it to this sir. Sir, licked his fingers, at the same time, immediately touched our plates as he brought it to us. Professionalism and customer care has been violated and trust has been scared. However, the waiters were great!
I absolutely love the play superduper Duper fun environment grateful great people just really really all-around good place to go and enjoy a meal and fun times
I love this place for drinks and have been there for fun and games. However, it loses a star on dinner with big parties. We came in for a holiday weekend thursday Thanksgiving day and thier were other large parties too, but just thought the service and execution slightly below expectation for the restaurant side. We also had our aunt ruth 92 who was a little picky, but we shouldn't miss sides that we ordered. Double check the ticket fam. And I get it. Worked in the industry 10 years. For large parties downtown Detroit I'd try another spot. This is a date spot for me. 4 or less. And still super fun spot.
Some bartenders and servers are great. The other half are so pretentious and full of themselves they won't even acknowledge you. 50/50 chance of having the worst service of your life. Not worth the prices
The customer service I received from the time of me planning my event as well as the day of my event was extremely poor. I am not sure why. My event was booked by Jeri Zink who stated after booking the event that I will receive a email notification with her number on it for any questions or additions to the event. I tried calling the number on a few occasion to add catering packages to my event and received the voicemail each time. I left detailed messages with the reason for my call as well as call back information but to my surprise there was never a contact back from anyone at your establishment. Upon me arriving to my event I was greeted by Michelle whose hospitality was so dissappointing. She had a very standoffish demeanor as if she did not want to work. I explained to her that I was looking to order large order of food for my event and explained the situation with Jeri. Well she begin telling me what I "CAN'T" do. Everything I asked for she told me I can't have. The only pleasant thing she did do was to go get the Chef on duty so we may speak. He was extremely pleasant to me and tried to help the best he could. He provided my party with 100 wings, salad and bread which was great! I tried to start bowling upon are arrival but noticed that the lanes were not powered on. I searched for Michelle who disappeared and when she finally returned it had been 45 minutes. I explained to her the issue with the bowling lanes. She left to talk to someone downstairs. When she returned she stated "Oh he forgot to turn it on" so I responded by asking so do the 3 hour booked time start from the time they turn them on? She stated abruptly "No it starts from 8:00, keep in mind it she now after 9:00. I am really not a confrontational person so I didn't say anything back. Michelle struggled with getting everyone's bills correct. There was a few parties who had issues with billing the wrong cards. Then once again around like 9:30, Michelle disappears again this time for almost an hour. I had to go downstairs to find assistance. Where I was greeted by a young lady who told me she will get a Supervisor for me. A few minutes later a bartender came up asking who wanted drinks. I asked him was there a problem with our current waitress and he said he had no clue where she was. Shortly after he took drink order she popped up. She never apologies for the extended time she was gone. We then booked a karaoke room "which was extremely fun." Due to my larger party we were all in the karaoke room and it was kind of stuffy so we had the door open. A member of your staff came to the door and snatched the blazer that was hanging on the door knob and threw it to the ground to snatch the door close. This caused everyone it the room to been to yell "Aye what are you doing?" He states "Oh you guys want the door open?" As if we didn't notice that we had an option to close it. That was really unnecessary. I was extremely disappointed with with event experience. I chose your venue over many others to provide my party with different type of experience. I have bragged to everyone before who had never visited your establishment about the atmosphere. This was not my first time there but it was the first time I got a chance to experience all you guys had to offer. Most times on the weekend when I visited it was to packed to try everything. So this year my Birthday falling on a Monday, I said it will be perfect for us to do everything. After my experience last night me or the 30 people who was with my party will not be returning to your establishment. Being that I live in downtown and brought guest from Chesterfield, Troy, New Baltimore and Chicago to come experience what the up and coming downtown Detroit has to offer. Your establishment did not leave a good taste in anyone's mouth. I pray that that you will obtain staff that come to work everyday with a smile and pleasant attitude with one goal in mind to service your guest with easy, spectacular customer service!
Good spot to go after a game (Lion's or Tiger's or Wing's) mostly a mix crowd but leaning towards the 20 something to 30ish crowd. Drinks are nicely done with a light Tapas menu, I had the wings and they were quite good, they do have a patio.
The food is nothing special and the drinks are extremely expensive for such small portions. Very over rated, but the atmosphere is fun. Usually very crowded after sports games.
Super fun ! A great addition to the Detroit nightlife supper accommodating. And those cakes ! It was great to have cake and coffee while everyone was drinking and eating this favorites. The pool the darts and the bowling alley! Perfect
The DJ picked up, but we made reservations for a friends 30th birthday, they wouldn’t give us a chair and had 2 people standing for 30 min then they came and said we had 15 min to leave. This was my friends 30th! It was very rude. The manager or assistant to the manager Ally (I think) basically came and told us twice. It was rude. Disrespectful and not good customer service.
Half of the resturant was taken up for private parties, which were empty. The other half was packed, but had little to no service at all. The staff overall seemed annoyed, both at the bar and the bouncers to go to the bathroom. Overall, I feel like this is a very over gentrified place, that feels too good for it's own customers.
Been here twice. The first time it was slow and the service was horrible. You’ll be waiting to get the bill for a half an hour. The second time I came to give it a second chance on my fiancé and I’s anniversary and our chicken tacos had bones in it. Once again the service took forever so we decided to never come back here again.
Lots fun great food and drinks plus loads of activities. I went to a birthday party for a friend. We had bowling, karaoke, and darts with a delicious taco spread.
Nice place to hang out but is beyond busy on the weekends. Some of the bartenders are super rude and you will not get served anything (food or drinks) unless you stand at the bar for a million years. The drinks are great, there is much to do, but they need more staff.
I had ordered some tickets for their drag brunch. In my error I selected the wrong time and needed to try and change to a later show. I called them and was immediately forwarded to voicemail. Left a voicemail. Left a Facebook message, No response. Called back 4 time in the corse of a week trying to fix it, always asking to speak with a manager, placed on hold, and never responded to. I ended up purchasing new tickets because I promised my wife we would go. If this is the kind of customer service you give I will never be coming back. The show was lovely.
This was a real find on my own personal Tour D'troit. A great atmosphere, open to the street, a great beer selection and a great brunch menu. Deviled eggs and chili were excellent. Bringing my family next time.
Fun place! Karaoke was fun, the food was delicious (I ordered chicken and waffles), and the staff was super friendly. My only concern is the spacing. It was a bit too crowded. Between the restaurant and the bowling area, there was this space of hightop tables where a bunch of people were just standing around. You could barely walk through the crown. The same issue at the bar area, it was just way too crowded. I would definetly recommend this place and go again. I would just prepare for the crowd better.
Cool place, as it's quite large and has lots of space and lots to do. There's pool tables, bowling lanes and tonnes of rooms and nooks to sit. They've good a decent beer selection and it channels so there's often new beers to try.
Always a fantastic atmosphere with friendly service. Drinks are on point and there's always great music. The food is on point and the servers anticipate your needs. Tiffany is fantastic!! Can't wait to go back!!
Worst experience I have ever had. I was there for my friends birthday. I got there a little later with some other friends and it took the waitress about 10 minutes to come and ask us what we wanted to drink (mind you this was at 7-8pm, it wasn't busy by any means). After I ordered a beer IN A CAN, it took the waitress another 10 min to bring me my drink. So, after awhile I wanted another drink. I went up to the bar and I asked if I had to go through the waitress to order my drink because I had a tab going and he rudely responded "you need to talk to your waitress." Again, they were not busy. I went back with the party I was with and my friend decided to help me find the waitress with me because she wanted a drink. She was nowhere to be found all night and for 20 minutes we actually looked for her and asked someone to please get her for us. We then caught her coming back from another table. My friend ordered a vodka and cran and I ordered a draft beer. We stood there waiting for 15 min and no drinks, again they were by far from busy. So, we went up to the bartenders and our waitress was next to us and said "here dear, here's your vodka and cranberry." Then she gave me my bill which was separate from my tab & I specifically told her I had a tab and gave her my name and everything. She then proceeded to tell me my beer was on the way. ANOTHER 20 min later & no beer. So I asked the female bartender and told her how I ordered through my waitress and how my friend got her drink before me. She told me "you have to talk to your waitress, but I'll get it for you this one time." She walked to the other side of the bar and I thought she was going to get my draft beer. NO! She got everyone else's drinks around me (mostly shots and mixed drinks). I walked away because I was annoyed beyond belief. I decided to talk to the manager. I politely asked if he was the manager and he decided to be sarcastic and say "one of many." I told him the situation and how I've been waiting forever for my DRAFT BEER and he said he would let them know. ANOTHER 20 minutes go by and the manager has walked passed me plenty of times with no checking up or no drink. My friends mom complained enough, so they gave her my beer. But I still had to pay... I've never been so disrespected in my life. I will never ever give this place my business again.
I liked it the atmosphere was nice. The waitress and host were nice. I just wish they had more variety and could lighten up on the pricing of some of the food 19 for a small burger was ridiculous
Just attended a company party here. Clean bathrooms! Plenty of things to do, two bowling lanes on each floor, arcade room, good beer selection, good food, nice atmosphere and pleasant waitstaff. I will definitely be returning to this establishment
If I could post a zero star I would. Went there after a concert and caught an Uber there was seated and then never greeted for about fifteen minutes no menus no hello no water NOTHING for fifteen minutes countless waitresses walked by and didn’t dare look our way! Needless to say that we caught ANOTHER Uber to STARTERS where we had great drinks and food!! If your looking for a place to chill and enjoy drink I do not suggest this place! Very racist vibe! So sad because we spent around $300 at Starters of which we would have gladly spent at Punch Bowl Social! Will NEVER be back and will not suggest this spot! DO BETTER!!!!
Very very fun place to go especially with a group! The food is just basic but the atmosphere is really why you would come. They have bowling in there!
We stopped in on a Saturday around 6pm. The place was not packed and the section we were seated in was even more empty. It took about 20 minutes for my drink to come from the bar which was in eyesight of our table. The food was okay but we were not really impressed. Service was not great. We did not play any of the games so I can't comment on that. Overall, it was just okay. Nothing really set them apart to rave about in my opinion.
The server was really nice and it's an exciting place. Went with some friends and we had a great time. I want to eat more food before 5 stars, half of the table wasn't impressed, mines was good. Bowling was fun though and the drinks are cool.
The bar is nice and laid back, the atmosphere is good. I went here for a group outing and we had half of the upstairs reserved. Having our own space and unlimited bowling was nice. However, we had a "taco bar" and the food was really disappointing, I wouldn't pay to eat it again. Maybe their regular menu items are better. The mixed drinks we ordered were very weak. I'd go here again, but no taco bar, and stick to beer for consistency in drinks.
People love this place and I never understand why. The bowling alley isn't great, and one lane is always broken. Karaoke is not free, and the bartenders are overworked because it's so busy. Takes about 10 minutes to get a drink, which is no fault of the bartenders, because the place is always insanely packed. The food is actually really good though, which is surprising. If you like the chill bar scene stay away. If you're looking to be packed in a building and sweating your ass off while you stand around, this is the place for you.
This place did a great job hosting our event, and they kept up to speed even though our group was probably a little too large for this venue. Bar tenders were troopers keeping up with such a big crowd. Food was very good too. The karaoke rooms were very popular.
We had a mishap in the front the lady was quite rude, however the manager was very professional and handled the situation well! The vibe at this place is really cool and have no complaints on the food. The carpet in the bowling alley is sticky and a bit smelly. (They do serve drinks there.) But, everything else was very clean and well maintained. Highly recommended!
I should have known this was going to be a bad experience. The food was not seasoned. I order chicken and waffles. I was told this was a chicken breast. I looked and tasted like a frozen chicken patty. Why not serve wings with the waffles. The menu needs to be upgraded to better salads and vegetarian selections. It took a hour to get our food. The entire set up was horrible. So if you want bologna, wait staff that can't tell the difference between cheese, and no refill. Go to the punch bowl social. Detroit. I will never be back.
Late night was fun. The drinks were overpriced and weak though. I recommend going for brunch. The French toast monkey bread is amazing.
Been here several times, guess I did no review...pretty sure I did because there was an issue with our party. Anyhow, no issues today, it was a beautiful evening to sit out on the patio, to enjoy some some drinks! Great food! And Great atmosphere! Didn't experience any inside to dos this time around, but the visit was perfect! Our food was perfect!... (besides the cilantro wings being ok, but not very much cilantro used) knock off burger..., chicken and waffles..., the watermelon polo bowl..., the kings cup..., #derrick the manager came around to see how everyone was doin, thank you I like to see the managers take time out of the schedule to check on the patrons #pallace our server #thebelt #standby #polaris #landocrissian #vicentes #eatcuban #mojitos #salsa #detroitchic @ #punchbowlsocial #patiosittin
Lower your scotch prices. The Macallan 18 should not cost $75 for a shot when the bottle is $320. 4 shots should not cover the cost of the bottle. Everything else is fine & fun.
Surprisingly spacious!! You can find a quiet-ish corner with your friends even if it is a Saturday night! Friendly and timely bartenders! So many different activities!! Good drinks! Music could be improved- the DJ just hung out with some chick and the music was very disappointing!
Punch Bowl is one of the most hip, up and coming bars in all of Detroit! Their venue is great for both private parties and family dinners. Though it can get crowded on the weekends, they are usually very accommodating and quick with service. The food selection is amazing and their cocktail menu (virgin and not) is extensive. Parking is easily accessible through the structure next to The Alley, making it one of the most beautiful (and secure) places to park downtown. A great place to go!
It's a large place with a nice selection of drinks. The inclusion of a bowling alley really makes the place interesting. Great place to spend a night hanging out with friends.
We ate a wonderfully flavorful traditional Thanksgiving meal (minus mashed potatoes) as we watched our Lions lose to the Vikings (ugh) on the myriad TVs througout the multi-level structure. Interested in returning to bowl or shoot some darts or pool. Looks like a really fun place to enjoy with your friends...the one NEGATIVE...having only 1 - Unisex restroom...at least that's all we saw.
Outstanding environment with lots of beers and tons ways to entertain yourself. From ping pong, to bowling, to a giant wall mounted Scrabble board. The service is atrocious though. Bartenders and waitstaff are inattentive and not very friendly, even during slow periods.
Place has gone downhill. Activities aren't even available half the time because of buyouts and events. $10.00 an hour for a pool table? 2 bowling lanes, ping pong tables, botchee ball, and corn hole are all upstairs which isn't available except late on the weekends. No server has assigned tables. This can leave tables not taken care of. Food is 110% hit or miss.
Really cool facilities, tons of different stuff to do, but the service was terrible. Took upwards of 20 minutes just to get a milkshake or a drink most of the time. Bowling lane software was having errors, karaoke microphones didn't work, and the arcade section is terrible. Good for a corporate event, but wouldn't go for personal fun.
Great place for corporate events. Things to do for everyone. Nice setup in terms of layout (rooms, bar, space, etc.) Staff was great as well.
The food was ok. We had to send back the onion rings and a friend's burger because they weren't done right. My burger was overcooked but tasty. Drinks were good but they were out of certainly things including the chocolate cake. Service was very good.
Such a fun place! Good food, drinks, and activities!
Bad service bad food. All the bowling lanes were supossed to be reserved but the whole 3 hrs we were there we saw no one bowling or playing darts.
Excellent food, great drinks, a wide assortment of social activities in one spot, with very pleasant and expedient service! That said, I did feel that the buffet was a bit pricey, and none of the food could be saved afterwards, which was a shame. Overall, I would recommend this as great choice for a Detroit diversion!
Great food and a good time. Had the shrimp tacos with buffalo wings, pretty good. Wouldn’t recommend going on a Saturday though, very packed inside and hard to find parking.
Excellent place for a party and get together. Every city needs a punch bowl social!!! Great place to hang out, have a fun time with friends of the bar scene is not really your thing.
We had a business team building here and it was a lot of fun. The staff was nice, the building is very cool and decorated perfectly. I love how they brought nature into the design. It was very clean too. The food was pretty good too. I wish them much success!
Ribs are fall off the bone good. French toast is amazing! Drinks were hit or miss, and the service was seriously lacking. Particularly since we had an advance reservation for a group.
I had here the second worst hamburger of my life (The first was on a famous restaurant in San Francisco). Took a lot of time to be prepared and came cold. French fries looks like were fried 2 weeks ago.. The waiter was nice, but unfortunately the food wasn't. really bad experience on my first day in Detroit.
This place is huge with multiple bars and a bowling alley, among other things. Definitely come check this place out.
Delicious drinks and food. The specialty cocktails are very clever and unique. I highly recommend "You must bring us....a shruberry." Punch Bowl has bowling and karaoke but it is a bit too pricey to be worth it. If you have a large group then it might be alright to do. So far I haven't had to wait too long to get a table so that is always a plus!
A really fun place to drink and hang out. Creative cocktails, lots of things to do... they have bowling, karaoke, video games and even some board and card games to play at your table. The staff are extremely fun and friendly as well.
I love this place. We went a few weeks ago, the day the new menu was launched. I got the Alabama chicken sandwich. The white BBQ sauce was good but barley any of it was on the sandwich.
Very clean and doesn't smell weird, even though there are bowling lanes. The food was very good and so were the drinks. Service seemed to be prompt and all employees were friendly. A truly large number of games and activities to choose from. Most everything is slightly expensive, but that just comes with the location.
The staff are upbeat and friendly. They brought everything we asked for in a timely manner and the kitchen staff got our orders correct. No complaints! Great place to have an after work function or kick back with friends or family. The decor is dope... like a colorful, modern lodge. The drinks are great too and you will probably smile as you read the menu - some names are pretty creative. This is my third visit here and I'm never disappointed. You will probably have to park and walk though, but it is Downtown Detroit, so what else is new?
Fun place. Went for a work event. The drinks are amazing. They had appetizers and my favorite were the bacon wrapped shrimp. Great environment, happened to go on a nice day and the doors were open. My coworkers and I thoroughly enjoyed the arcade.
My experience is limited to the happy hour menu. Great fun place, good happy hour food and value.
A great place for hangout and a fun night ! Food, Snaks is just tasty and prices are reasonable. Waffle & Chicken, Seasoned Fries are my favourite. A wide variety of drinks & Beer. Apart from Food & Drink they have a great area for Fun games, Bowling & activities. We would defenitely come back
They were awesome from first contact til the end of the event.. Jason was awesome and so was the trainer (im horrible with names).. Great experience and i recommend here for any events.. I was talking with the events team on the day of the event as well. I had nothing to worry about and every one loved the food..
Very busy place on weekend BUT it's worth visiting !! Huge place, different experiences in a single place ... from quite seated area to bar style hangouts ... to some fun balling, darts, arcade....etc. Among very few places that allow rhevkids to join you
A little pricey, the chips and queso were the highlight in terms of food. The shuffle board was extremely disappointing, it cost 3 bucks and spikes come up to block your game before you even complete... Very frustrating. The Barbacoa tacos had tons of fat I would've expected the opposite for this type of meat. Overall the experience and food was just ok.
This review was typed tipsy. I'd like to thank autocorrect for making this possible. This place was phenomenal. The drinks came out quickly and there's arcade games, bowling and karaoke and more. The place is huge as well with a nice social feel. If you're visiting downtown definitely give this place a try.
We had a work outing here and was really easy to work with them to set everything up and the food and service was wonderful. Very good drink selection. Some of us bowled which was fun although the lanes seem a little short or something. Also we love the decor!
Had a great time! Our area had a fence to block other from going in. The food was good and was ready on time. The shakes are nice. There are options to play bowling ???? and darts ????. Many close options of parking. Highly recommend.
Do not recommend any one to go to punch bowl social Detroit. Took my family here before the 1st pre season lions game this past Thursday. We where told to sit in a booth after waiting for service for a bout 15-20 mins the hostess came to us and told us the waitress did not want to serve us because we had seven people at the table, and there where a ton of empty tables. So we left. And decided to go to the game I called to report this to management and was told that I was basically a liar. I go downtown Detroit all the time for games and events. I do not recommend any one go here. They will not serve you just because. I have never been treated this way at Detroit and have been trying out new places as they appear but punch bowl social Detroit is the worst service and experience I have ever had in Detroit. Will never go here again.
Corporate event I went to was very fun! But the whole food service was slightly disorganized and all the buns and chicken was very dry. Tons of activities to do while i was there! Wouldnt pay from my own pocket to go to a hipster bar though
Lobster roll and French fries very tasty!!! The King's Cup was my drink even though I'm a lady the drink was fitting.
I love Chris ❤️ ???????? he is the best driver ever and he's fun. we had him last year so every year we will be requesting Chris every time 7-30-2019 Thanks You Chris for your services.
We had reservations at 5:45 and planned to attend an 8pm show at the Fisher Building. We made it with only 15 minutes to spare. There were 5 in our party. We were not served at the same time. Instead, dinner came out in three waves over 15 minutes despite the group only ordering main courses. My tacos were cold and not worth the wait. It took 20 minutes to get our check and that was after asking the server, her assistant and a manager. This is not a place to go if you have plans for the rest of the evening.
The cauliflower nacho is bomb & a nice shareable size, the crab ragoon was great as well but wish it came in a larger portion size. Great atmosphere & drinks!
Fun place to hang out, but severely overpriced on semi premium liquor. Coming from a former bartender and knowing price points, markup, and inflation rates. Certain pour rates are still outrageous here.
The establishment has been racist towards black people. Now if someone in the group is a different race and ask the same question, amazingly lines disappear, your reservation is in fact ready, and food is still able to be ordered. Take your business else where.
My husband and I went here for the first time last night and the service was amazing and the workers are very friendly. It's a great place and the best part was when there was a homeless man outside with no shoes asking for money and we gave him some than the general manager nickolas Scott came outside and gave him a new pair of socks and bowling shoe so he wouldn't walk around Barefooted I thought that was the sweetest thing I have ever seen a person do we need more of him in this world. After seeing that there is no question about us going back we will definitely be back. I highly recommend this place.
Awesome place and experience.. Staff was awesome, best nachos I've ever had hands down with cauliflower nachos, and a ton of entertainment with pool tables, bowling, ping pong, arcade games, etc.. But don't worry this isn't Dave and busters, this place is top notch with an awesome atmosphere.. So much fun..
My friends and I have been frequenting this bar for years and have always had a great experience, but over the last few months everything about this place has gone downhill. With the exception of the amazing hostess, food and bartenders, the rest of the service is terrible - especially the service counter to rent games (bowling, karaoke & pool etc). The girls working that counter were so rude and actually called my friends and I b**ches to our face, when we’re just simply checking in on our wait time. Another occasion we were there with friends who rented a bowling lane and bought over $1,100 in food & drinks and the same girls from the game service counter had the waitstaff bring the check and tried kicking us out of the bowling lane in a matter of five minutes total, which is not enough time to pack up and leave. After all of that money spent, we were treating very poorly and had the worst experience we’ve ever had! We will no longer be frequenting this place and that’s a shame, because we were there almost every other weekend! I do not recommend this place.
Good food, good drinks, good atmosphere. It wasnt super cheap, but I felt I got what I paid for. Better atmosphere and classier than Dave& Busters type places.
We were promptly greeted when we came in the door. The hostess was pleasant and advised us of seating. Fun place to bowl, play darts, and engage in arcade games. Nice arrangement of lounge seating for casual conversations.
This place is amazing, the layout is so cool and the style is super rustic. The location is perfect and would be great for a day out and explore. Food was great and they even have bowling. Perfect place for parties or just to hangout. Everyone should experience this place at least once. Deff. Coming back soon!!! Highly recommended!!
Very dissapointed in the service. Took forever to get drinks and food. When the food came, it was cold. It wasn't very busy but looked like they had plenty of waitstaff. Came in for the nationals volleyball tournament and expected better service.
Went there to just have a few drinks and chill, nice environment but the drinks are sooooo watered down. First we got a vodka and cranberry and it was terrible so we thought maybe it was cause it was mixed, so we tried shots of grey goose and I knew right away that it was half alcohol and half water!! Like I said nice cool atmosphere, BUT the drinks SUCKS!!!!
Had a great time here. Staff was amazing and food was fantastic. It was my first time in Detroit and everyone said I needed to check it out. Worth it!!!! Must try - love from Canada
Been here twice - once the afternoon of a concert at Ford field, and then tonight after the Christmas tree lighting. Both times the service was horrendous and even getting a server at the table took 20 minutes. Guarantee its not a server issue, it's the fact that this place is miserably understaffed and underprepared for when it gets busy - NOT ok when you are supposed to be a "hip" restaurant in downtown detroit. The manager's response to my complaints about the service? "Try coming on a Sunday morning"....ok, so anybody can have good service when only 10% of the restaurant is full. Bars are meant to be enjoyed on weekends and at night, and if you want to enjoy yourself, you should go somewhere else. No need to pay $10 a drink when the service is this bad...it's a shame, because it's a really fun atmosphere otherwise.
We've been here a couple times. Sat at the bar each time to watch football and enjoy conversation. Drinks were fun, atmosphere was great and bartenders provided good conversation. Food was okay, but will be back.
Pretty cool place. Many things to do bowling, karaoke, Arcade, and board games at many tables. One of the best features is that it is below the Z park parking garage so you can park right there. No walking for blocks.
Great cocktails. A must stop when cruising the D. Stopped a 2nd time and it was just as good. But, ordered shots of Grass widow bourbon and didn't ask price, they charged $16 EACH!!! yikes.
From the moment we walked into this establishment we were greeted by happy faces! The energy from the employees are fantastic especially our server Ronald! He made sure our 1st time here was one to remember. I will definitely be returning here soon!!
I enjoyed the vibes here. It's definitely a fun environment. I shared the nachos that our group ordered, and they were very disappointing. They must have had the food sitting there a while- the toppings were completely cold, and the cheese was hard, unlike when it's freshly melted and all gooey. I guess it's fun drunk food, but sadly, I wasn't drunk. I tried the Motor City Brewing Ghettoblaster beer, and what can I say, I like all beer. If it's beer, I'll drink it. My friend got me the Old Fashioned, one of my favorite all time drinks, and while I also liked that, what can I say, it left something to be desired. Overall, I would come back for a fun night out with friends, but not for the food, just the beer.
Called for reservation 2 weeks in advance. Got there..no reservation. Stuck us in a corner. No energy in the place. Server was good. Food was average. Ended up leaving and going to local bowling alley near our house.
Great place for birthday parties, great cocktails, fix is good, staff is receptive. Young crowd. Get there early if you want to actually be able to bowl.
The entryway is awful its cramped by the hostess table and since it's winter and ~30° it was pretty cold, we decided to sit down about 10 feet away in a booth that wasn't being used. After waiting our ten minutes for the table to be prepared, the hostess called us over and escorted us back to the booth we were previously sitting in... Just a little bit of a weird experience. But no harm no foul and the staff was very friendly, it's pretty neat that they have an arcade and bowling alley. I ordered one of their signature punches which had a great taste to it even though I'm not a tequila person. Delicious dill pickles came with the burger. The burger was a little tough and dry, I assume it's because we are so close to Canada that they don't ask preference on how the burger is cooked, it seemed a little overdone. It was a nice one time experience but I'm not sure I'll be back.
Fun place for a social gathering. I was here to bowl with some friends. Not an "actual" bowling alley, so don't expect top notch equipment/facilities. But still fun.
Seemed like a nice atmosphere in the beginning. The food wasn't as good as advertised, and the service was average. The wait for bowling takes forever, and the pins are connected to strings. If you enjoy the gimmick of games at bars, you might enjoy this place. But I don't believe I will willingly go back.
Diverse environment Lovely atmosphere So much you can do here. You can do karaoke, bowl, shoot pool, eat & drink In the back, there's much more activities. I've been here a few times and each time, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I meet new people and ALL ofthe staff is so pleasant.
Excellent food and friendly staff. The environment is cozy and elegant. Decently priced. Would definitely recommend and will be returning.
Very fun place but the security is very rude. Looking for your Id they yell at you and making your business feel unappreciated. I was there 1/26 at 12am and this was my second time I decided I would never come back because of rude security. I would def recommend ppl going to round one in auburn hills. Way more professional!
I wish I could give this restaurant no stars. The manager is so unprofessional and rude. We waited for over an hour and a half for some sandwiches and a burger and still when we asked for a manager she waltzed over saying what’s the problem? After checking on our food she stated “some of it’s still being made it’s gonna be 10-15 more minutes, and then she added oh we’re out of chips and fries so your going to have to pick a different side, sorry for your inconvenience we can comp you a milk shake.” We ordered a hummus plate as an appetizer, we don’t want a milk shake lady we want our food. We told her don’t bother, we got up and left. So I tell ya not even worth a damn star.
This place is terrible if you’re hungry. Waited an hour for food just for them to mess my order up and never replace it. The waiter came back 20 minutes later and asked if they ever replaced it... then finds out they never fixed it to begin with. Friend ordered a coke and didn’t even get it the entire stay.
Pretty unique place, they have games both up stairs and on main level (bowling lanes, bags, tic-tac toe, arcade games and more). Good prices on drinks. They have a pretty solid Bloody Mary Bar on Sunday. Food has always been good. It is overall a pretty big place. Kid friendly during the day.
Limited menu. Got buffalo wings and they weren't cooked thoroughly. Got 2 stars purely based on the fact the beer was cold. Won't be back.
worst place I have ever visited... went after a Lions game, we were totally ignored by staff, waited like 20 minutes before anyone came with water etc..waitress was a real B ! had a major attitude..( leave it at home) never bought us napkins or silverware, even though we asked numerous times...Social is right,,all she did was hang out Bar and socialize with her coworkers..
Had a really great time! Good food, fun games, and great environment. Lots of choices to choose from.... darts, bowling, video games, shuffle board, pool, and karaoke rooms!! A really great adult game night!!
Nice place! A bit on the pricey side...2 pints 15$. Didn't eat there had a few beers played some pinball, people watched and called it the day.
Saturday evening. 2 out of 6 bowling lanes in use and were told it is a 2 hour wait. Went to kiosk to buy game credits.....it’s out of order. Sign said to see attendant. Did that.....attendant said yeas I’m the guy but I’m really busy......:come see me in 15 minutes! Ha ...what a joke. Owner should be disgusted. See ya.
The impossible burger is not to be believed, but really, no meat. The only vegan burger I will have. Also try one of the adult-beverage milkshakes, the one with the maple flavor is very nice.
The bartender believed that I was “too drunk for a drink...” disgustingly hypocritical of whom they normally serve Friday - Sunday. Their manager took the bartender’s word for the situation. Please do not support a staff that lacks appreciation for their consumers ???????????? try again for an establishment that supports their community that doesn’t speak English “perfectly”... I am a working physician that is well beyond the criticism of someone who knows what a BAC level is! Do not tell me I am incapable of buying a drink for my friends because I am too intoxicated... it’s embarrassing that’s the standard of your establishment! Sincerely, A drunken patron, Dr. Porter * someone who is more trusted more than a sad bartender giving a drink on weekday
We booked a room for karaoke and when our hour was up a woman came in while two people were singing and very rudely turned off the tv and sound and said your done get out. They should give you a warning like last song instead of making you stop in the middle of a song.
I have been sitting at our table for 30 minute and no one has offered to get drink orders or food orders. We had to ask for our own menus and for a server to come to our table 3 times and even after that the servers didn't come to check up on us. Horrible service. Also, the girl at the shoe check in for bowling was rude. Update : It took us an hour to get service (it was not busy) and we only got service because I went to the manager.
Came here for the first time today. I was the designated driver for my girl and her friends,so they could do some day drinking for her birthday in Detroit. The atmosphere and decor are very interesting and pretty cool. They have a rustic style lounge area, that reminds of a lodge. They also have some bowling lanes with four lanes downstairs and upstairs, and they have a small arcade area. So you can definitely find something fun to do when you come here.
What we did: ordered beer and bowled. Poditives: The place is awesome! Really fun for a date or group of friends. Walking diatance from greektown. Many games to be played and the place is huge! Negatives: Staff didn't treat us well. Bartenders waited on 3 people before me even when I had my card out. I had to ask them to ger me beer, they never approached me. When my gf went to grab a drink they got her drinks in 2.2 seconds. We put our name down for bowling and staff said there's a 2 hour wait and they would call us when a lane was ready. We waited 2 hours and 15 mins and never got a call. I ended up calling them and they said that they have a lane open. When we got our shoes, the staff member tried to say she was calling me but I wasn't answering. I showed her that I never had a call from them and she blamed my phone. Would I go back? Yes, but it will be a back up plan. I hope they work on their staff. I would've been happier if the staff member giving out shoes said she forgot to call and apologized. To lie is just wrong when it comes to customer service. Also I hope they work on the bartenders. I would give it 2 stars if it wasn't for the atmosphere. We'll see how it goes next time.
Gabby made me and my boyfriends experience great! gave great suggestions and was very knowledgeable about the menu! best server I've had at a restaurant in a long time1
Fun place! Drinks and food are ok.
This place was pretty cool. The menu is unique and the food was very good. We ordered a punch bowl drink for 4 which we were pretty disappointed with. The taste of the drink was not good, and it seemed over iced and watered down. Otherwise it was definitely worth a visit.
Went here for a work function. All the sides weren't out while we ate...too quick to push people out when it time slot was over. Prices were high and downtown parking is getting only worse.
Very disappointed! The food was OK, no wow factor! We were told at the last minute that they had booked a private party and we could not play the games. This was the main reason we were going to this restaurant and we were entertaining out-of-town guests in Detroit. We made our reservation over a week in advance and was never told we could not play the games. We would have made other plans for the evening and chosen another time to go.
Not worth the money. Not worth the gas. Not worth the expense to park. Organization is severely lacking in this place. They are short staffed and the staff in place is poor at best. Our waitress disappeared for 20 to 25 minutes at a time. She didn't check our orders for accuracy. The orders were wrong. One of them had hair in it. The waitress was sent back 3 times to correct the bills. Some of the bills had charges for things we didn't order. The food was bland and overpriced. We ordered things that were never brought to the table. Nope.... Not coming back.
This was the first place I tried when I moved to Detroit from New Jersey. As an outsider, I was unaware of the growth that Detroit is enduring until I came here! Young crowd with New American food. My fiance and I shared the Lil' Street Tacos which were delicious, for our entrees I had the Burger and he had the fried chicken sandwich. The burger, to this day may be the best 'smash-style' burger I've ever had (at its price point) . Our waiter, Andrew was also awesome in walking us through the menu and really great with giving us some other local spots to try. There is also games like bowling, skee ball, etc. The skee ball machine ate my dollar, but hey- it happens. Really fun spot to try.
Overall I will avoid coming here to eat in the future. I came here for a work lunch and out of 11 people the food came over a period of 15 minutes where I got my food in the 15th minute so needless to say more than half the group was finished with their food before I got mine. I ordered the barbacoa tacos and was less than impressed. I forgot to get a picture however I am sure a picture can easily found in the rest of the reviews. For $12 you get 3 tacos, each were half the size of a street taco. So they’re really just bite size tacos. The tortilla broke leaving all the meat sauce cheese etc to spill out all over the board (the dont come on a plate) the beans that came with the tacos was also underwhelming and not flavorful.
Good food, fun location. Drinks are a little pricey for what you get, but if that doesn't bother you a fantastic place for a fun night out.
Co-workers and I went here for lunch before the Tigers game. Lunch took 1 1/2 hours and the restaurant was only 10% full if that. Slow to be approached, slow drink service (a beer), cold fries, cold eggs and never got the toast. The hamburger and tacos were the only good thing about the entire visit.
It is a decent downtown Detroit restaurant for brunch and bowling. The service is painfully slow though. I have been there a few times and if you know this going in you will have a good experience. Don't bother if you have to be some place in the not too distant future.
We came in on a Sunday for dinner. Sat down for 15-20 mins no one came to our table to ask us for our drinks or anything. Had to walk up to the bartender to ask if where our server was and no one knew what going on. The bartender was nice enough to get our first round of drinks on them. And also just to mention if wasn't even busy at all and they were out of quite a few food items as well.
Came here for a cousins birthday party, left an open tab with the bar tender and he ended up charging my card $80 for 2 drinks and tipped himself $18.. when I went to cash out they told me my tab was already closed and I wasn’t in the system. DO NOT GO HERE. Untrustworthy staff.
Hostess was lovely. Went in with a group of 11 and got sat right away. It took half an hour for our orders to get taken, the food didn't come out at the same time, waitress was asking how we wanted our checks to be arranged before half the table had their food. My boyfriend's monkey bread french toast was super soggy in the middle, my friend said the sour dough (??) toast wasn't good... She had asked for jam and we were told they were out so all they could offer was honey. My ricotta pancakes were the last to arrive and both smelled, looked, and tasted burnt. Disgusting. The manager came up to apologize - he was very nice and professional and gave us complimentary coupons for an hour of free play. I can see the potential for this place to be great, but we did not have a great experience. May try again another day. Drinks were delicious.
Staff was unprofessional holding conversations with other coworkers as they delivered our drinks and food. Always standing around on their phones. It look a hour to get half a salad and cold queso dip and chips. I’m not sure if they’re not LGBT friendly or just had horrible service. I’ll never take a date here again.
Great place! Attended a private party upstairs. The food was delicious and had fun bowling too!
If I could give zero stars I would. Single worst experience I ever had in a restaurant. Will not be back and neither will the 25 people in our party. Hostess was very rude. Called one member of our party a b*tch when asking why we couldnt sit down with so many open booths. Told they were all reserved. But in the 3 hours we had to spend here they never filled up. Wait staff was extremely unattentive and a bit frazzled at the size of the party. Unprepared despite us having a reservation which the restaurant accepted. Food took THREE HOURS to receive and multiple complaints of unattentive staff. No silverware. One of the people in our party had to find silverware on other tables in the restaurant. Took 25 minutes to get coffee/juice. Had to ask why it takes so long to pour glasses before they came out with them. Didnt get an explanation why the length of time. Food finally came out staggered after multiple complaints to staff and various “managers”. Everyones food was cold and bland. We all had a general breakfast or a burger. 3 hours??? Party arrived 10:30-11am. Food served at 1:30pm and only after complaining multiple times? I have never heard such a thing and is beyond unacceptable. Finally spoke with the general manager at the end of the meals who comped our party and apologized but had the gull to say he shouldnt have taken our reservation because they were already behind and we got pushed further behind. Like it was their first time with a large party and didnt know how to handle it. Keep in mind this place was primarily empty when we were there - despite us being told the “other side” was very busy. We go one to explain that we did not care for the rude remarks from the hostess and he laughed under his breath. Seriously. I will not be back and neither will my party and we will tell others to skip this place. Rude staff, slow/unattentive service, bad food. Don’t get the hype of this place - single worst restaurant experience I have ever had. They lost a big check with us. At least $400 down the toilet.
We had drinks and did an hour of bowling, however a situation happened to the lane next to us (felt bad for the server), regardless we received no service and my wife hated the nachos she had ordered, which made things worse. So my wife (Who NEVER complains, for those that know her) walked up to the manager and said she had a bad time, he really didn't care or said anything. He could have made a difference, but he didn't, so if you have any issues, management sucks. So I'm taking my reviews to the internet.
Terrible food, TERRIBLE SERVICE. I've been here 3 times. 3 times I've been absolutley disappointed. Over an hour wait to get drinks is unacceptable. Don't even come here because you think this place is "cool", overpriced, overly crowded on fridays and Saturdays, spend your time and money somewhere else.
Food was not very good. Received our appetizer cold, milk shakes for the kids did not even taste like chocolate. Lobster roll was more bread than filling. Chicken and waffles lacking sauce. All in all, not a place to visit for the cost!
I will never return to this place! We went as a group to have a few drinks. The man at the door, so rude!! The manager worse!! I will make sure a spread the work and keep my friends from this horrible experience!
The restaurant is welcoming of everyone. The food selection is not overwhelming. The GF/vegan food choices compared to other restaurants is great. There are a lot of entertaining activities suited for the whole family. The disappointments were the alcoholic beverages and when we got there no other guest were waiting to be seated; but the hostess that day did not greet us right away. We waited for a few minutes before being seated. I felt we were ignored as this was our first time dining here. The alcoholic cocktails were disappointing. The beer taps were good. The waiter and other staff were great. Our waiter was a new hire and she did a good job. Overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere and will probably dine here again in the future.
Parking is easy to find. The food is pretty good. If you get the wings make sure to ask for them to be cooked well, mine were under cooked for my taste.
Both food and atmosphere was unique but good, parts were closed down because of parties on a Sunday. Service was slow because of lack of help, but overall a fun experience.Ask for games to play at your table-available at the shoe rental.
Great food, but worst service I have ever had. Waited 45 minutes for a waiter to come over, and he only came after we had to flag him down MULTIPLE times to take our order. Then it took almost an hour to get our food, and our drinks NEVER did come.
This was probably the worse place I've been to in several years. We called ahead to make a reservation, as we had a large work group going of about 24, and were going to the Tigers game after we ate lunch there. But they wouldn't allow a phone reservation. We got there at 11am. It took a minimum of 15 minutes for every step of the process. 1. order drinks, 2. order food, 3. receive food, 4. get bill, 5. pay for bill. We waited for over an hour for food, and the first person that got their food was done with their meal by the time the last people got their food. None of the servers had even a general idea of who ordered what. We told them we had to hurry, as we had the Tigers game to get to at 1, yet there was no sense of urgency to take care of us. The orders weren't accurate either. I ordered a chipotle turkey burger and water and the guy next to me ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and 2 beers. My bill came back with the turkey burger and 2 beers, and his had the chicken sandwich and water. It took 20 minutes to get our bills after asking for them, and another 20 minutes for them to run the transactions and bring them back. We spent 2.5 hours there, leaving at 1:30, were late to the Tigers game by about 45 minutes, and all of us said we will never go back there again. And the food? My chipotle turkey burger was bland (average at best), and definitely not worth $12.
If I could leave a shittier review I would. We decided to come here for my bachelorette party and waited 30 minutes before we got our first drinks. We waited for over a hour and a half for our food, which only half of us got our food. Our waitress was no where to be found the whole time and had apparently lost our order. Place was just a chaotic mess, don’t waste your time.
We had a party of 40 people in a sectioned off area upstairs. The manager was friendly and accommodating. The staff were professional and prompt. The games were fun. The drink list was great. The food was delicious! They make the best guacamole I've ever tasted and their veggie tacos were incredible. This place was really busy and I can see why!
The Punch Bowl Social was amazing! It was fun, family oriented, had an engaging environment, and the food was delicious. I'm planning a gathering with my cousins at this location and we're looking forward to being there.
Awesome concept for a restaurant and bar! We didn’t bowl but we had some nice after work drinks and some tasty wings! The waitstaff was awesome and very knowledgeable of the history of the establishment and the menu!
Me and a group went for New Year's. Cover was $10 which wasn't a bad price for our experience. I got one round of drinks then an hour before new years I go back to the upstairs bar, and wait 40 minutes until anybody acknowledges me. When they finally do ask me what I want they lie and say they don't make that, I tell them I just ordered it 2 hours ago. He goes back to someone and learns how to make lemon drop shots. Lol. My friend was tired of waiting for the bartenders upstairs so he goes to see if the downstairs bars were any better, but then he gets locked downstairs and isn't allowed back up even though that's where his whole group is. The DJ could of played way better music. No one was dancing. Just a bunch of people standing trying to get service. Would not recommend for New Years. They were not ready for a high volume of people looking to celebrate.
This place is much more than a restaurant, it is a great hang out area complete with a bowling alley, arcade, as well as a bar.
I like the place. Its very lay back. The service was great, but the shrimp burger was a lil salty. Other than that I would luv to come back and bring my family.
Sat at the bar without even being acknowledged for about 10 minutes. There were three other people at the bar. Bartender looked at us, didn’t say anything, then started to socialize with his coworker. We left without even getting a drink. Total bummer.
Service was really slow when we were there. Two people had cold food, and overall the food was just ok. It was the middle of the day, so maybe it's better in the evening when they are busy.
Mr. Raymond! The best service one could ask for. Never been here before went for a friends surprise birthday party. Mr Raymond has a special presents. He is a great people person I see this is why they had him working the party. The surprise party consisted of around 50-70 people. 2 bartenders were behind the bar and he was making his ways through the crowd. He was always polite called us by our names never had and empty drink in my hand. Customer service can impact a business so much. Glad to know you have one of the best. I would come back and refer people to come based on Raymond’s service. Keep up the good work! Mr. Chris and Mrs Megan.
It was a terrible experience we were told not to go by many of my friends and family and that they are very racist and if more than 7 or 8 people are saying this it says something. We waited for ever to get water..we tried to get tables the servers walked away and 30 mins later came back to ask if they got you a table...you were the one i thought was doing that...then my food was cold everyone at the table i told the server over and over she just say ok several times and walked away...so she realized i didnt touch my food the server asked me about it and I said my food was cold...she said you waited long enough and i said ik we have been telling you that....the all white table that came before us gotta the better service got better service bc we were standing in that section....its really too much to put on my phone nut the manager was really weird all of a sudden race just came up in the conversation it never came up i promise you he just said we are not racist here...really then why did you have to say that we never said u were.
What a fun night! Our server Jason was so fun and upbeat. The food was amazing! We had chicken and waffles and a prime rib sandwich-so delicious! And there were so many cool things to do after dinner. Bowling, Karaoke, arcade games, they even have board games like Monopoly and Clue! It was a great place to hang out and have a fun night.
We were at Punchbowl this weekend for brunch. I always enjoy my visits there. I like the menu, but more important, the staff is great. Shanice was our server; she was welcoming, friendly, attentive, and professional.
Service was slow while we were waiting around the bar for a drink, but it was a very cute place, and there were so many activities to chose from. Will be back again, and I’m from Canada !
FOOD- The Irishman burger and fries were awesome, and they had decent beer choices. The SERVICE was crap, it took about 20 minutes to receive my 2nd beer after I ordered it, and my 3rd never arrived, and it was a wednesday at about 9 pm(not busy at all). When I asked the waitress about the beer she said she gave it to me already (never did). So I ended up ordering drinks at the bar after that. The BOWLING alley left a lot to be desired. For people who aren't actually "real bowlers" I'm sure it's fine but my friends and I didn't like the lanes. The price to bowl was high and on a timer, not by game. They only allowed us one lane to bowl on so with the group we had we were able to only bowl 1 game, so ultimately 1 game of bowling cost me $10.50.
It's a great place. Had our team meeting there. Drinks were good. Food was good. Karaoke rooms were a blast. The bowling was good but then the lanes just kept breaking down. Otherwise 5 stars.
DO NOT GO HERE ON A GAME DAY....OR ANY DAY! I do not typically write reviews, but my experience at Punch Bowl Social was so terrible I feel I am doing the visitors and people of Detroit a disservice if I do not share my experience. My sister and I came down to Detroit for the Lions Game on New Years Day. The game was at 8:30 p.m. and we arrived at Punch Bowl Social at 5:15 p.m. we were told there was an hour to an hour and a half wait, which we expected so we put our name on a list. The girl wrote my sisters name and phone number down on a blank sheet of white paper with at least 35 other names on it. There was little to no organization with this method. I am not even sure how they were keeping track of people. We proceeded to the bar to get a drink. It was shocking to watch the bartenders and wait staff completely ignore everyone at the bar. There were hundreds of people in there and it did not appear that anyone was even being served. We found 2 seats at the bar and still waited 25-30 minutes before a bartender asked for our order. He was the most unfriendly and rude person I have ever encountered in the service industry. He just walked away half way through our order and then was annoyed when we still had more to the order when he came back. We would have left at this point but at least we had a seat and were afraid that everywhere else would be just as busy. Long story short, we were there until 8:15 (so 3 hours) and never received a call or text for our table even after the entire place emptied out around game time. I asked my sister the next day if she ever received a call or text and she did not. There was no effort made to contact us about a table. We ordered food at the bar which again took 20 minutes to get anyone's attention and then we were told they were out of 3 things on the game day menu, which was already limited to about 10 menu items. I totally understand that game days are a busy time, but that is even more of a reason that you should not be understaffed, unorganized, unprepared and rude to your patrons. Its not like this is the first time they have been through a game day. My only other experience here, not on a game day, was not as bad but was not good either. I will not be returning to this establishment nor would I recommend it to anyone.
Maybe 3 really poor arcade games that were working, 3 dart boards open, but they gave the darts to a group that disappeared, 1 pool table that is always in use, 1 Scrabble board. Basically, if you think you're going to enjoy all of the things they advertise, you won't. There is typically 1 of everything. Food and drinks are very good and fairly priced.
PBS was a great idea for our rehearsal dinner. Jason, Montana and Tyler were great. Food was delicious, games were fun. Can't wait to go back
Chad was an amazing server. He was well informed on the drinks and food. We often visit Detroit, and this has been a staple for our night time entertainment. As a result of the great cocktails, great food, and great service, we'll be back.
Fun spot, great drinks, average food. Seems to be a large party that reserves an entire area every time I go. Meaning long wait times and poor service. Went bowling and after an entire game there was still no server. Asked for a server - they said they would send one. Still no. I asked the hostess and she said they were busy so I asked if we should order from the bar and she said yes. Well, no bartender to be found and I had to return to my bowling game.
Fun place to hang out until your event. Huge space, almost as long as a city block. Great for large parties, and their menu has food for all types of diets (vegetarian, gluten free, vegan).
Their drinks are good the waitress staff was nice but the wings were not cooked properly to me one of my wings were undercooked so if you just want to go and have drinks and chill with friends it's a good place to go
The ambience is great and the food was great! The only thing we didn't like was the fact that they ran out of ketchup and did not want to provide us with alternative condiments. We dipped our fries with salsa that we got in another dish, and then ended up asking for more and got charged $4 for it, and the food is pricey to begin with. We completely understood them running out of ketchup, but at the very least, they should've understood what we did with the salsa and wanting more was BECAUSE of that, and should've waived the charge for extra salsa. Just my two cents...
This is a must see for tourists. They have pool, bowling, arcade games and more. The ambience is very fun and urban. We had the street tacos and the wings which were phenomenal.
Worst service in the world. Bartender was new, so it wasn't his fault, but the kitchen took over an hour to prepare our food. Fun atmosphere to drink at, but plan to eat somewhere else.
So we made reservations for a birthday here, got an email confirmation and everything. 16 people no big deal for most places... our reservation wasnt in their system when we got there "with that many people it goes through sales". Its too busy to help you guys out it would be about 2 to 2 and a half hour wait I told her whatever you can do to speed things up split us into 2 partys whatever you need, we'll just hang out at the bar let us know. An hour and a half goes by people start asking questions I'll go talk to her and see how much longer. She didnt put our party in the system thought we would just be hanging out at the bar was good enough. How much longer would it be from now till you could get us in 2 to 2 and a half hours were just so busy... I said dont bother and we all left. Awful experience and this is not the first time they did this to us last time we tried making a reservation for 12 but atleast we got sat because it was so dead. Moral of the story do not take a big party here so many better options. Great place for 2-6 people beware.
Never again , I had a gender reveal party this past Sunday 1 sever for 25 people I’m happy 5 others didn’t make it. Very rude 2 people quit helping us and walked out serving us and had really bad attitudes. Got mad cause it was a lot of us & he had to serve us all alone. I didn’t like how he was treating my guess and I said something , he continued to argue with me. I don’t know if it was cause we wore black or what. Spent over 700 that night but could’ve got better service at McDonald’s. A bartender saved us & was kind & helped us all alone or we wouldn’t have had a server. Food still came out scattterd & cold and some didn’t get food until the end of the event. Could’ve ruined my night happy we made the best of it.
Went there with a group of 25 people. Raymond took care of our group and was absolutely perfect. He wrote down and remembered each of our names. He was so respectful of us and made the party 100 times better. It is hard to get decent customer service anymore, this was beyond decent...it was spectacular!!! -Lady Crystal and Mr. Rick ????
I've been to Punch Bowl a handful of times. A couple times for catered events, and a few times with friends. Punch Bowl could be cool hangout but it's managed poorly. I've experienced a lot of issues during each visit. Limited Alcohol selection. Only light beer on tap is bud light. Tried ordering captain Morgan and southern Comfort, they don't have either one. Was there for a work event where the vendor paid for open bar, liquor beer and wine included. Coworker tried ordering a Hennessy and Coke, we were told Hennessy is not included. She asked if she could pay the difference, bartender said no and rolled his eyes at her. So she decided to pay out of pocket and open a tab. When the bill came, each drink was $22, for a single! Uhh you might want to warn someone when their tab is going to be almost $70 for three drinks at a free event! Bartender was really rude when she asked why it was so much. Bathrooms are disgusting. They already look like their 10 years old. Women's bathroom had missing fixtures, black mold under hand driers and paper towel dispensers. Entire bathroom needs a deep cleaning. Looks like a dingy dive bar bathroom. Waitstaff during my last visit a week ago was just like any other time I've gone....Slow and unattetentive. I feel like every single time I've been here they have been short staffed. Always takes super long to get a drink. If you sit at a table expect to wait 10-20 minutes everytime you order a drink, no less. During my last visit, we were trying to order some food. They're menu only had about 6 items on it. When we tried ordering around 8:30 pm, only 4 were available. They sold out of tacos, and they ran out of burger buns for the evening. I feel as if you should have everything on the menu if you are only going to carry 6 items. The bowling is set up kind of weird. The keyboard is about 4 feet in front of the display monitor, so if you need to change a player's name or correct a score you have to step about 4 feet back to see what your typing on the keyboard. It literally makes no sense! So much potential here which is why I'm writing this review. Hopefully management reads this! This place is a great go-to when you have a mixed crowd of friends. It had a few bar games which set it apart. The food is usually pretty good compared to most bar food. Parking is also easy here and well lit. Location is also good. I really wish their management would step it up! I want to like this place. All the issues I mentioned above weren't a one-time observation. My company has spent tens of thousands of dollars at this establishment. I've personally spent hundreds of dollars here.
Good food (the Sriracha Peanut Fries on the menu-SO yummy!), fun place, employees are friendly, however there was ONE available restroom (with one toilet in it) for the entire restaurant area on a Saturday night. 17 minutes in line to pee. Yes, I timed it. We do plan on going back for another visit :)
Cool atmosphere. VERY packed; standing room only on a saturday night. More expensive than your dive bar for drinks but every tender made every drink my group and i ordered strong.
Had terrible service even on a slow day. Ordered our drinks right as we sat down, took until our 10th frame of bowling before my drink came out incorrect. Waiter threw a temper tantrum, slammed our drinks on the table, when I alerted her that she brought me the wrong beer. Won't be back.
First visit to PBowl on Sat night before Maroon5 Coventry. I was hyped up because I had high expectations. Unfortunately, I was letdown. We were a party of 14. It was overwhelming for 1 server. Our drink orders took forever. We were repeatedly offer the chicken nachos that no one at our table ordered. The chicken pot pie is that only in name. It arrives in a skillet with a piece of fried bread on top. I had a sloppy joe sandwich that was OK, but too pricey. I think PBowl would be good for a gathering of people who want the entertainment of the bowling alley, games, darts, etc. But it definitely is not a spot for a basic sit down dinner.
My poor naive wife googled this establishment without me knowing . She wanted to take my two teenage kids out for a Sunday evening fun time . Maybe not the best place for teenagers to go around 5pm on a Sunday . Anyway we arrived the man at the door totally ignored the fact we were standing there until a hostess had to say something. After being told sit we're you like a lady standing in the dining area greeted us with a look that would stop a charging bull . Mind you I'm with my teenage kids and my wife . After I witnessed a rude and unpleasant exchange with this lady and my wife I assume was a waitress. I decided it was time to go but I didn't want to ruin it for my kids . Reminder this is supposed to be a fun outing. I figure I would give it a go but all of a sudden my wife asked this same waitress for a chair for me and this heavy set waitress grabbed a chair and flung it in my direction very angrily. Needless to say it was time to go . So we left . I walked out of the punch bowl thinking wow this is the revitalization of Detroit . We ended up eating at Redsmoke and had a blast spent almost 200 on dunks and food .
First Time at the Punch Bowl, my party of Four thought the food was Delicious. I felt it could had more of a selection of foods with no meat. The Staff was accommodating. I didn't know how to use the Karaoke that was in a separate room, and one of the workers took the time to show me how to work the Karaoke program. I will be back again to play the arcade games, and listen to the great selection of music in the background. I was told there isn't any dancing at the Punch Bowl Bar; I think that would have been a great addition to this Social establishment. Parking can be expensive in the Downtown area, so be prepared. I luck up and found a five dollar parking space.
Nice place. My meal was a little dry (maybe it sat under the lamp too long but we had a party of 12) but nice atmosphere. Been to other punch bowls that had more games and activities but it was still fun.
This place is way to expensive for what it provides. Had to wait for bowling lane, we had 7 people and the lady cut us off so we did not finish our one game. $47 for Karaoke come on please.
Horrible. The person who hires should be fired. The staff was SLOW, rude, lazy, unprofessional and did not know what they were doing. It was like blind leading the blind. Our waiter, jalyn was moving slow the whole time. We were a bigger group so they really should have assigned us at least 2 ppl. The restaurant was practically empty and the food took for-ever! The only reason I gave you 1star is b/c the food was OK, but just ok. I usually look Frwd to trying out one of your punches but our waiter brought me some kind of bourbon drink. It wasn't worth telling him to change my drink b/c he's slow. Even the manager was bad. And finally, I was leaving the restroom when I walked by 2 waiters making out by the back register. HORRIBLE!!
my boyfriend and i came in here last night and i was looking forward to it all night. it was a sunday night around 7pm, not too busy. we had no problem getting a table but we waited 10 minutes until stopping a bus boy and asked for some menus. he brings the menus and says he’ll grab us a server. 20 minutes goes by and there’s server after server making rounds in the bar/dining room checking their tables, even making eye contact with me without even asking if we’d like a couple of waters. i’m a server myself so i understand when a restaurant is busy but this wasn’t the case. i saw a lot of employees standing around socializing. we walked out and mentioned our terrible service to the hosts who made no attempt to ask if we’d like to speak with a manager. super unprofessional for what you’re paying.
Very very busy. Staff seeded annoyed there were 8 people in our group. Super nice lady bartender made an effort to accomodate us. Just ate and drank we skipped the bowling it was way too busy.
Cool venue, but the kitchen struggles with consistency. I've ordered the tacos on multiple occasions and you never really know what you're going to get. Sometimes they're made right while other times they might be 1/2 the size as last time where it becomes a complete ripoff.
The place was great, service was fast and friendly . crowd was nice . The music was low and hard to hear. could have been from where I was seated. Overall it was nice. The wait time for activities was long but people friendly, melting pot environment made it worth the wait.
This place is a joke. Trying too hard to be trendy. Tried to get a quick snack before going to the opera house, and was told that there was a 2 hour wait, even though there were over a dozen tables available. Very frustrating.
Had a very nice time. Didn't like the food selection or the food I ordered
Good food and great atmosphere. I had the lobster roll, I wish there was a little more lobster in the roll for $19! Prices were a little expensive for what it was but it’s a fun place to go for special occasions.
The high tables are uncomfortable, the service was bad and the food was bad. The kids did like the arcade area. This is not the first bad experience. They are way to busy to have bad food and waiters that can not handle large groups. Manager did help at the end but the time in-between them checking on the table or taking payments (especially payments) were way too long.
Excellent food and friendly service! They graciously rescued my camera which I had left behind. For entertainment there is an arcade and even a bowling alley which makes for a great family visit. It was the U of M and MSU game weekend when we visited and there were plenty of large screen TVs plus a TV lounge to watch the game.
Great food and drinks! So many fun games, super helpful staff :)
I'm only giving them 2 stars because I didn't get food poisoning. Not sure what they do with all the carnitas that they don't actually put in the carnitas tacos. Maybe the cooks just pick most of it out and have a snack. They were basically 4 corn tortillas each stuffed with half an onion, a whole branch of cilantro and 12 raddish slices. Not exactly what I'd expect for $20. Certainly not in a city where good, authentic, cheap, tacos are so easy to find. Not sure why they would go out of their way to screw up tacos when Southwest Detroit is full of places that actually do them right for $1 a piece. It's was beyond disappointing. The service was passable, our drinks and food did arrive, but they took an astounding amount of time to get to us. A member of our party ordered the Chicken Sandwich, but got chicken wings delivered to him. The waitress didn't even attempt to remedy the situation. Beyond the sad excuse for dinner service, I just couldn't get over how a place that had such a strong opening could be so empty on a Thursday night during peak bar hours. There were maybe 10 other customers in the place. For a bar this big, that made it feel entirely empty. Which leads me to wonder how on Earth our service could have been so slow. Also the bartender in the center round bar was incredibly rude and condescending. I get that you work in an awful establishment and it's after 1am, but you don't need to be a dick about pouring us 3 beers. It's not like we were hammered and demanding Jagerbombs. I guess that's what happens when out-of-towners try to open a "cool" "hip" "game" bar targeted at Detroit millennials but don't do their Market Research first. They clearly don't know anything about Detroit. I look forward to this dumpster fire of a bar closing down and something of actual value to Detroit residents taking it's place. I didn't choose to come to Punch Bowl on this night, my friend had set it up for a little going away celebration for another friend of ours. I can tell you this, at the very least this experience reminded me why I hadn't been here in a couple years, and why I will never suggest it to anyone I care about.
In town from North Carolina visiting family and went here last night on the suggestion by a friend. Great service, the food was really good and liked the set up. Try the burgers or the chicken and waffles.
Spot looks great, just got completely ignored by the workers, was with a group of 4 and once we were seated we were forgotten about. Worst part about it was that one of my friends with me had just hosted an event there a few weeks prior in which he brought them over 50 customers. By ourselves, completely disregarded
Food was good, bartender was great. Hostess repeated my phone # back to me so she could text when my table was ready yet still typed the wrong # into their system so getting a table took forever...
Service was horrible and it was slow. Music was lame needs more of a variety for music choice. The servers had bad attitudes before you could even asked for a drink order. Waited over 30 mins for the drink order then they doubled charge me for the one drink I bought. It was my first time and I had a horrible experience. This place is overrated it is not what it seems to be. Never again.
One of many remarkable new bars and restaurants in downtown Detroit. With a cool bowling alley.
DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU'RE LOOKING TO ORDER A DRINK, you'll never be served. Stood at the bar (along with 2 other friends) for 15 minutes. Bartender kept serving the same section (middle of the bar) it's clear they do not teach their bartenders how to work the bar. Awful service makes for an awful establishment.
Food was good but service was extremely slow. It wasn't busy but we waited for an hour before we got our food. Our server disappears halfway through. It took so long that we were late for first pitch on the baseball game.
The atmosphere was causal, not too loud or rowdy but not dull and boring either. The crowd was diverse with a decent mix of males and females, age range 20s to 50s, and a variety of races. The space was clean, well kept and the activities seemed to be in good working order. The bowling lanes miscalculated the score a few frames but no big deal. We were a group of 20, celebrating a birthday. The wait staff was attentive to everyone in our group and all items we order were correct. The drinks were alittle on the weak side but that didn't kill the vibe. Overall we had a good time and I would go back.
It was a groovy ambiance; but, they were out of a lot of things we tried to order such as Blue Sky. It cost a decent amount of money to throw a party here and I expected to be able to order and receive what my partygoers wanted - especially after being obligated to order $200 worth of food and beverages. The service was fair.
Excellent bar, great service and so many different things to do while within the bar. Several different bar areas for drinks to reduce the lines. The darts and bowling are was where my group spent most of our time while having our adult beverages. The place including the bathrooms was generally clean despite how busy the place was that day. Very cool environment!
On Friday we went to a work luncheon they were out of chocolate cake! The only desert they had was pecan pie. The chicken and waffles were a bit too well done and so was the meat loaf. Probably would absolutely not return. The staff was nice enough but we came to eat and they couldn't provide adequate selection off their menu.
Took my granddaughter after a day at the Ball Park. We experienced some difficulty while bowling, I spoke with the manager who was so polite and apologetic and the situation was resolved. My granddaughter and I enjoyed our afternoon and we'll have memories to last. My thanks to the manager. It was great to see a business appreciate the customer. My granddaughter and I are going to go back.
Great and unique food. Perfect place to grab a bite or a drink before a concert or event. Also to have another drink while you wait for the parking garage to clear out. Perfect for a party or event for friends or office with many fun things to do, including bowling, karaoke, an arcade and more.
Food was ok. Kinda pricey for what it is. Chicken tacos may contain chicken bones and management won't care. Staff will drop off food and drinks then won't come back over for refills and check on you until well past you being annoyed enough to leave but can't get the check.
Good food reasonably priced. Fun mix of games from Jenga to Bowling to Pinball
Lots of fun.... Bar tenders at this place think they are to cool for life and serve drinks extreamly slow. People come to the bar to drink so maybe make an effort to serve drinks a lot faster. Sorry not sorry
Great place! Only drawback was it was hard to get drinks but I went on a Saturday night so that's like anywhere on a Saturday night. Loved the atmosphere. You should check it out!
Cauliflower Nachos are yumdelicious, the Almond Milkshake tasty, & Shamari is THEE best waitress!! Management came over to make sure we enjoyed our visit. It was a nice lunch experience. 4/7
Cool atmosphere and pretty good food! Nice dessert selection!!
We thought it was a great idea after seeing the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre at the Opera House. Not hardly! We arrived during the happy hour with a very limited menu. Fortunately, we were able to order off the dinner menu within 30 minutes. We ordered the Mac and Cheese and other bar foods. The Mac and Cheese was cold. We weren't going to make a big deal about it, but when the server saw we weren't happy he tried to make it right. The manager came to the table and when he noticed we had eaten a portion of the dish, he offered to bring us something else. We were ok with not having the Mac and Cheese comp'd at first, when he offered to give us each a slice of carrot cake. the manager stopped by again to find the desserts hadn't arrived yet. It took another 20 minutes for the first slice to arrive to table. The second slice never arrived before we received the bill. After all this waiting and cold food, we asked the manager to comp the mac and cheese for the continued inconvenience. He told us next time we should alert the server if the food is cold. I guess it was our fault. We left another 20 minutes later, not even receiving the second slice of dessert. It wasn't worth waiting for. And the cake was STALE!!! We spit it out and threw it away. I promised to bring my team at work back here after experiencing bad service around Christmas. They will NOT be coming back here!!!! Terrible! I don't recommend it at all. And the menu is so limited!! Skip this one. Try Hop Kat instead if you want bar food. It's located on Woodward near the Whitney. The crack fries are the best!
love this place. downtown detroit has so many cool places now but this one is one of my favorites. the drinks are always great and service is fast. the bowling lanes are a great feature in this place, gives you something to do with friends. I would recommend.
Went here on a Sunday afternoon to have a Bloody Mary and play some games. Unfortunately every activity they had to offer was “booked by a private party,” yet none of the activities were occupied by during the hour we were there. Super frustrating and wish I never paid for the drinks that were purchased.
Came here this evening to bowl because our local garden bowl was hosting a event. After bowling made the decision to get some food here, upon looking at the items on the menu had some good looking choices and had some vegetarian options which was a plus for my family. We were sat on the dining side near kitchen and bar to start we ordered a milkshake it was made at the bar the problem was I watched the bartender sit it in the middle of the bar near to a patron upon it sitting there people sat down in front of it got up others passed it who worked there talked over it and no one even said is this going to a table it sat there for over 10 minutes as the waitress finally grabbed it I politely told her I no longer wanted it and the reason she instantly got an attitude with me. It got no better let me just say I watched my mothers food sit under the light for 22 minutes ( I timed and watched the whole time) while they worked on my and my son food my son grilled cheese was not melted, & I got the tomato sandwich it was awful the waitress did not return to see if our food was ok so when she returned she asked if we wanted boxes I said no she said "why what's wrong with the food" I told her only about how my mother food was cold and I timed and watched it sit out she had this excuse of saying well hot dogs get done faster than fries I wanted to reply it does not take 22 minutes to drop fries. I asked for the check she still tried to charge me for the milkshake & had the rudest attitude ever. I would never return not even to bowl because of the terrible service and food.
Attended restaurant on 12/3/19 visiting from California. Upon entering the bar area the bartender and server were not friendly/inviting at all. After ordering, Food/Drinks came out quickly. The issue is, once our order was placed they immediately asked for my credit card and charged a “authorization” of $30...um ok odd, but sure. Once we finished eating she charged the remaining amount $29 by swiping my card again(separate transaction). My bill totaled $59 and I also left a $15 tip. The following day I noticed a 3rd charge from this restaurant in the amount $75 on my card statement. At this point there are 3 transactions on my card from the restaurant which are $30, $29, and $75= $139 (my bill was only $59) I waited a day before calling the restaurant. The next day all three charges were still on my bank statement. I spoke with manager who stated the restaurant “authorizes” a portion of the bill when you place the order and then reCharge you at the end of tab for total bill amount. Basically you pay double and then are refunded the overcharged amount(days later). Her excuse was that they have to “cover themselves” in case patrons walk out on the bill. What type of restaurant does this. The most ridiculous ghetto thing I’ve ever heard. It was 10pm and there were only a few otter guests, the restaurant was no busy whatsoever. Not to mention the service we received didn’t warrant a $15 tip. I feel somewhat discriminated against by this “policy”. I’ll also be sure to check with my colleagues to be sure they were charged the same way. On a lighter note I visited Townhouse Restaurant (a couple of blocks away) hours beforehand which was much nicer where I didn’t receive this type of service- amazing vibe and friendly service-highly recommended. Won’t be attending Punchbowl Social again..nothing special.
The staff was above and beyond!! Right when they open the door you feel a warm welcome. The hostess gave great information about everything they have for us to do there. Wish I had checked out this place sooner!!! Will definitely be going back asap.
Went over from Ontario and had my son's come downtown from Northville. When we got there the upstairs was closed for a private party so we were unable to play the games up there. Food was ok. The only good thing was the amazing bartender who was serving us- he was serving us as we sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged by a waitress!
Pretty cool experience in a cool area of downtown Detroit. They have great drink specials and some really interesting menu items that are very good! I didn't get to do any of the gaming stuff because the manager refused to change the channel from Food Network to the Tigers game so we ended up going somewhere else.
Great food, made from scratch! Amazing drinks, both with and without alcohol. Fun arcade style games and bowling. Loved it!
This facility has potential to be an awesome place however, after several bad experiences I am very disappointed and will not be back. Service in general is horrible, servers can not keep guests straight and deliver accurate bills and attentive service. I have been charged for food, when all my husband and I had was drinks. When bowling I was charged $50+ for the lanes next to me drinks who had already left. They claimed they thought we were friends and sharing it...a bit odd when we were ordering our own drinks, not talking with the other guests and had never met them in our lives. We have been over charged on our credit card and then simply charged twice in general. I have called to clear things up- but have not received a call back. I am very disappointed in their service and management.
From left to right...Kobe beef hot dog & Cubano sandwich food was delicious
The company I work for rented this space for a night and it was amazingggg! They have everything from bowling to karaoke, pool, darts, arcade games, and let's not forget the drinks (: highly recommend this place if you're looking to have a good time.
