The West Vancouver Ice Area is all that I could ask for in an ice area. Adequate viewing areas, friendly staff and decent rates make it all the more enjoyable. They offer public skates which are enjoyable, but it’s aimed for beginners / smaller children. In the summer they have a variety of non-ice activities. A bit dated but overall quite nice.

Ride and slide in the ice arena during summer break is good fun. We spent 2-3 hrs there. Lots of activity for kids. Bouncy castles, ride on toys, bowling etc.

Great local rink, home to the West Vancouver Thunder. Great for public skates as well and for the family. A staple for West Vancouver hockey.

Three stars for summer Ride & Slide play zone. OK inflatables for kids to enjoy. But staff don't have much control over the kids -- as they seem to cluster in the middle of the arena and just survey the activity. School age kids in bouncy castles and on slides can get out of hand if rules aren't constantly being explained and enforced. Sadly, facilities can't rely on some parents, nannies, or camp leaders to do that job. Other similar play zones in YVR (eg, Kerrisdale) do a better job of keeping kids in line without stifling the fun.

Whaaaaaaaaat a heap of fun! Great way to hang with family for some really really beginner skating. Don’t go if your a moderate or good skater, there’s too many rookies. But if you’re a starter, this is your chance to shine!

How curious to have such an old arena in such a modern rec center. It was cold in the waiting area, maybe broken heaters? Only some of the bleachers have heaters, curious.

Real nice ice. Perfect temperature for U10 ringette. Nice and flat too. Ice was shiny when we got there, but after the game it had a whole bunch of ice skate marks on it. Still five stars.
