3rd time in a row experiencing slow service, no service, unclean tables and food arriving cold.

CONTAINS UPDATE... The place was packed and extremely noisy. I ordered the Santa Fe Chicken Salad. The greens were wilted and semi-rotten. All the ingredients were literally thrown together in a big mushy, unappetizing, mixed pile of yuck. The huge number of staff were standing around doing nothing. The North Vancouver Earl's was a 1,000 times quieter and the food was 1,000 times better. UPDATE: The manager called me and explained why I had this experience. Simple answer: they were overwhelmed. He said something to the effect that they have adapted to the crowds that they at first didn't expect. I'm sure it is now a much better experience, although I am hesitant to give it another try.

Unique desert and the second best steak after the Keg resturant from my point of view .

I came to Earls specifically for my favourite Clam Chowder and was disappointed with the service. I get it that somebody just spilled the soup on the side but make sure it’s wiped off better than that! The plate felt dirty from the bottom as well. Nobody paid attention to me for a while and after the server came to me, I wasn’t satisfied with the way she responded back to me. Also there was someone’s hoodie on the bench at the booth I was sitting at. Expecting more from a restaurant.

I called on Sunday morning just after they opened and they were able to give me a reservation for an hour later. Even when I called back to add a person, they were able to accommodate that without issue. Our server Poppy was overwhelmed with the amount of people in the restaurant, but somehow was able to get our food to us within 15 minutes of sitting down. We got there shortly after 11 and were out before noon. Awesome place for brunch!

Best Earl's in town in my opinion. Location and high ceiling are the highlight as well as the large patio although I haven't been out there yet. Their caesar drink is one of the best I have had. As for food, the chorizo mussels, buffalo cauliflower and appetizer tuna poke (no rice) are all delicious. The service is excellent although, since it gets busy, you might have to wait a little to get a table. We will definitely come back.

Food is bit expensive but good servers surroundings are full of ambiance and love. Highly recommended.

Earls is consistently great with a limited menu... drinks are pretty good and the ambiance is always pleasing. The one located in Bellevue which is in our neighbourhood is one of the few hang out places in WestVan. It is lively, however the line up is always long and I’m not one for waiting to eat. They accept children but with a bit of reluctance ???? I wish there were more family friendly places in WestVancouver.

Tasty food, good vibe, nice patio and view.

Worst experience ever. Came in with 7 other ladies to celebrate a birthday, we were there from 7pm to 9:30 pm and our server came by maybe 3 times the entire evening. Our drinks took forever, literally took 20 minutes to get a pitcher to our table. The sangria was supposed to be for 4, the pitcher barely filled 2 glasses. We ordered our food at 7:30 and didn’t eat until 8:20. By the time we got our bill it was 9:00pm and it took us 24 minutes to get our server back to our table to redo some of the charges that were wrong. We were charged for a drink we didn’t order at which point we were offered cash or a gift card, we asked for cash, they brought a gift card. We declined, they brought us back cash and short changed us the amount with no apology. At this point we all just wanted to leave. Absolutely brutal service. No quality check was done on food. No apology that it took almost an hour to get our dinner to us. Totally disappointed in this place. Wouldn’t recommend for events, or even a nice date night unless you want to be left alone all night. ****Update - you’ll see below a response from the GM wanting to speak to me. After following up twice via email I received no call or email back. Obviously just trying to save face on google reviews.

I would like to thank Eric Chore, the Manager of Earls West Vancouver, for resolving a problem I had with a third party gift card. Eric resolved the problem well above my expectations, and I was extremely impressed. Earls has always been one of my favorite restaurants for the food and customer service, and now as a result of the above I am now even more of a loyal customer!

Ambiance was good. Service was great but the food, while decent tasting was not good value for the price. Fettuccini Alfredo was essentially cooked noodles in a cream sauce with a piece of cut grilled chicken placed on top. Cheap looking and tasting I'm guessing relatively cheap to make. It was completely uninspiring and a complete waste of money. Steer clear of this dish.to top that off, nights are starting to get cool as it was the first day of fall. We were on the patio and nothing was done to add heat to the space even though the heaters were directly above all the tables.

my boyfriend and I came into earls today and all the staff where very genuine and had amazing service our server Justine was having a tuff time so she asked another server to pick it up. Our food run late and one of the cooks came out and delivered it personally n apologized. i just want to appreciate the stuff for making up the time it took for our food. They rlly went out of their way, thank u for a great first time at earls we will be coming back????

The food was amazing, the service was good. The art on the wall seemed out of place

This is a great location along the beach. Even if there's a wait, you have the option of going for a quick walk beach side or check out the nearby shops. You get text messages when your table is ready. Once seated, we had great service. The food was better than expected. Overall impressed all around.

Every Earls I have been to has been absolutely amazing, but this one. The girls and the guy in the blue shirt (maybe manager) was lovely. No matter how bad an experience I have, I never write a review, so this is saying something. 1. If you make your customers use digital menu (which isn’t a problem) make sure to serve them what they are seeing. Food was delicious, horrible server. I wasn’t aware, the spinach dip came with chips, as we were not told or asked if chips were ok. We would have chosen a different appy. 2. If people are sharing an appetizer, it’s common sense to bring side plates, for each appetizer. It’s not fast food, you pay dishwashers to wash dishes for a reason 3.Having the need to clarify if we are going to only order off the last min happy hour is quite insulting, as well as having to clarify if we will be order more food. We got annoyed that we have to ask any earls employee for something (side plates, napkins, water ) when we are paying to have someone serve us, hence server. Because we don’t know how long it would take for our server yo check on us 4. Don’t sit a huge table in front of the restrooms, because I have to wait for both customers and workers to finish socializing. 5. Didn’t acknowledge my boyfriend, didn’t even look at him or asked him if he wanted anything, he faced discrimination for being brown. At that point, we paid for our appys and went to a different earls. Earls is not a mediocre restaurant, the service shouldn’t be less than. I’m aware these are stupid things to complain about, but it adds up when you go out for an expensive restaurant.

One of the best locations for a restaurant right at Ambelside beach looking out towards the ocean. We come for happy hour 3pm - 6pm one of the better happy hour selections around. The staff are always very friendly and accommodating, food is always on par and I have never had to send a dish back with an issue. Great for just hanging out at the bar with friends or come for dinner with your families something on the menu for everyone. Must try the sticky pudding for dessert amazing!!!!

We've gone once before when they first opened and had an amazing experience both in food and service. Went for dinner last night and unfortunately the service was very poor. We had to ask twice for refills on our drinks, our spinach/artichoke appy came out cold, we had to ask for side plates to have with our appy, our waitress did not come back to ask how our meal is or if we needed anything else. We then sat there with dirty dishes for over 15 min waiting for our waitress to clear & ask for the bill. Finally we had enough and went to the front hostess to ask for our bill as our waitress was no where to be found. On our way out I then saw our waitress leaning against the wall near the kitchen texting on her phone. She only had 2 tables so I'm not sure why our service was so terrible. The only plus side was that our mains were delicious and the hostess at the front was very apologetic when we explained that our service was not great. We left no tip. Will think twice about eating at this Earls location for future.

Over crowded. Bad design/layout. Too much afternoon sun in the summer and almost as loud as a nightclub (barring the music) My after meal espresso was extremely bitter. It was awful, just awful. The food was very good, but the atmosphere (and the vinegar espresso) made it a one time visit. I should also mention that they leave a lot of empty tables unoccupied, while people are left waiting in the hot sun for 1/2 hour, or more. Is this a Californiaesque attempt at appearing to be popular? I'm not talking about "hey we're busy so we haven't had a chance to clear them." They are cleared, set and waiting for long periods of time. Whatever it is, it is pretty horrible.

Aaron Severtson

This is a classy place that is very bright light wise, beautiful ocean views. The food is fantastic, they are consistently great quality food and the servers are awesome and try very hard to make sure everything is great for you.

I am giving a (high) four star rating because this place is gorgeous, not because of the food. Here in Vancouver for a visit and saw this place during a morning stroll along Ambleside. Popped in to make an evening reservation. Was not disappointed. The beautiful weather made for an amazing meal (again, nothing special about the food). Had a bottle of wine to enjoy with my table, next to the open windows to the patio/sidewalk on a sunny evening. Great decor, ambiance and interior design. Can't beat summer in Vancouver, especially at a place and location like this.

Julia Kristina

Food selection is pretty average. Very similar to other places. Not my go-to for the type of food served. Truffle fries were smothered in so much pepper but barely tasted like truffle fries and tasted bland as if there was no salt. Staff are really nice and accommodating for sure though!

Katie

We had a great dinner here! Alan was the best server ever!!!

Lesley Cosco

Allan gave me and my wife an amazing experience for our 1 year anniversary and went above and beyond, food was top notch, hospitality was second to none, and the location is to die for. Thanks again Allan, we will never forget!

Review updated from original review - They truly stepped up and expressed care and allowed us to return for an awesome experience. Well done Earls! --------- The food and wait staff were fantastic, however the management did not deliver. We booked 4 days in advance for a birthday dinner for 7 on a Thursday evening. I phoned earlier in the day to reconfirm and specify it was a birthday. They noted it on the reservation. We arrived and they placed us in 2 separate booths stating that they could not be pushed together. We specified that is was a birthday reservation and we'd like to sit together. When speaking to the manager on duty they stated that most parties were OK with this set-up. The other option was to squish us into a 5 person booth with 3 seniors and 2 tall men. After speaking with them further and suggesting that this was unacceptable (especially with 4 days advance notice) they reluctantly moved us to a high table in the lounge area. The waitress was fantastic and the food was excellent, however there was no mention of any type of birthday recognition or check-in from the management about how the food was etc. This is quite disappointing and unfortunately a very unprofessional delivery for a first experience at this new venue. Having worked in the service industry for years, this is extremely disappointing for a generally excellent restaurant. They definitely need to pull-up their socks with how the management operates and delivers.

We were on the patio a week ago. Atmosphere was great, service was awesome and food was delicious. Earls always does it right!

MANA NOORI HOMES

Great location, lovely staffs, good food.

Aly Madhani

It was consistent with the rest of the Earls locations. The place had a nice view of outside and the bar section had a nice ambience.

Jenna Lamont

The location is great! The layout of the interior is airy, spacious and well designed. The outside I'm also happy with. Incase of those really sunny days there are umbrellas and shady areas. The service is friendly and fast. I think the menu should have more variety and more contrasting selections. Food tastes great and management is impressive. A must try!

Visited on Mother’s Day. Restaurant was packed so sat at the bar. Outstanding service and great selection of food and cocktails. Had the ahi tuna bowl which was beautifully presented. Everyone went out of their way to make me feel welcome. Will make this my go to place in Ambleside!

Mihaela Georgescu

Great happy hour with a wide selection of drinks and food at reasonable prices. Beautiful location and good service.

Had takeout this evening, and absolutely amazing dinner. Everything was perfect, and service was phenomenal. We will return. Thanks Earls!

First time at this location for brunch today and I wouldn’t go back. Server was “out of it” as she said herself, and the result was bad service. From forgetting to bring our drinks, mixing up our order, and when my food came I didn’t even eat half of it. Asked for hollandaise on the side and it came with hollandaise on top and my egg was so undercooked, hash browns were so oily and not crispy, dim sum just fell apart, I was totally turned off of my food. At the end the server didn’t come back to our table for 15 mins while we waited for our dishes to be cleared and get our bills. At the end the bill was a mess and we had to sort and add the totals ourselves.. there were only 3 separate bills.. not too difficult but today the server had a real hard time. Never had a dining experience where every aspect of the experience was bad, until today.

New review, what has happened to Earls? 20 years or so of pretty consistent decent food and service for a reasonable price. My wife and I decided to dine there this evening and what a gong show, here's the highlights.. 1 large quantity of food on the floor being edevoured by hundreds of ants, we were outside, 10 minutes after drawing this to servers attention someone came and swept up fries... 2 appetiser, after 25 minutes we enquired where it was, clearly forgotten it arrived 10 minutes later 3 my wife went to the bathroom, no paper in one stall and broken latch on the other... Seriously restraunt was half full at best, one manager asked if we were ok after ant episode, no apology for late appy and full bill arrived at end with no apology, no nothing. Let's not even talk about removing Leroys ribs and the Pizzas from the menu. There was a time you'd have been given a drink or coffee, but several episodes and nothing, just a sincere apology would have sufficed.. So many other choices, Earls has just been relegated to why bother again. It's a great Earls, quality tasty food with good service.

We just moved to the area and we used to love going to Joey back home, and we thought earls would be the same seeing as they are the same company, but the service has never been good. We’ve been there 6 times and so far we’ve had only one server who served us well. The servers are all quite young and pretty socially awkward and have very limited menu knowledge. We usually don’t get mised in time and we have to waive servers down because they don’t check on us often. When I order drinks they always take a long time regardless of the time of day (brunch, midday, happy hour, or just before close). *That being said the shift leaders have occasionally swooped in and helped and been professional and the FOOD is always great. The happy hour deals are great (the wings are amazing). The building itself is gorgeous and the location is great! You can go for a beach walk before and after going in.

Susan Campbell

Earls was lovely. We shared an appetizer of ribs which was delicious. My only complaint would be the price of a cocktail at $12. Way too high❣

Kathy Stivin

They had a rough opening, but since then the service and the food just keeps getting better and better. Love this location. The management is top knotch, food has been great. I eat here at least twice a week. Now they're doing delivery to my door, I'll be eating here even more.

Carey Vandenberg

The food and drinks were very good however... Cleanliness? Not even close to the quality of the food. Dirty table we were escorted to, crumbs and a hair on the seat and beside us we noticed this (see pic). Before we try any of their locations again we'll be looking out for this kind of sloppiness. It's like "Covid is over, we can relax now".

zen “zencc”

Amazing locations, it’s our first time in this location. Super approachable staff, fast and good service. Perfect price for set of meals, Lots of selection of menu :) love it.

Phillip White

If you want good food, nice atmosphere and people watching, this would be a good place to choose. I've given a three because the 'plasticness' of the staff is nauseating. It's over the top of 'How you doing, Fantastic, so excited for you! and all the other dribble that these 20year olds have been brainwashed to say. It's good, but I prefer 'real, everyday ' staff.

Erina Shala

Amazing service tonight from Bry (not sure of the spelling sorry). She was so accommodating and really made our experience great. Our server was also amazing (didn’t catch her name). Go to this Earls if you want accommodating service and an amazing meal! -Nina

Prashant Agrawal

Great food. Great service. Would have liked more choices of drinks though. Drinks menu needs improvement

Dhaval Nanera (nanera)

Deserves zero stars. Worst place to eat out. My server Mikey was a very nice guy. There was a long hair strand in my food. Showed it to my server Mikey and he apologised for it even though it wasn’t his fault. I saw my bill after and realised they charged me for that dish too even though we didn’t even touch it after we saw the hair. Never going back.

Gale Leitch

A girlfriend and I had gone in for happy hour on Saturday and our service from Ben was the worst. It was clear he was more interested in talking to his friends at another table than serving us. Our table was ridiculously crowded by our empty glasses and plates so much so that when he brought our entrees out, I had tried to clear some room on our table to eat and a plate ended up falling off the side of the table and shattering. Its very gross to stare at our chicken wing bones and dirty plates for your entire meal. Not to mention, he had left the shattered plate under the table and continued to socialize instead of getting rid of it, which could have definately been a hazard, especially as we were sitting in a outdoor booth on the corner and the plate had fallen into the sidewalk area. Dont think we will be returning after this experience, the staff clearly is only here to collect their tips and leave.

We just came back from what was supposed to be a family dinner at Earls in Ambleside. We sat in at 8:35 p.m. and the kids' food and my wife's food came at about 9:50. They were hungry and started eating while I was still waiting for my food. My food arrived 15 minutes after. By the time my food arrived the family were almost done with their food. The kid's food was cold as well when it arrived. This was a terrible experience and I would never ever go to this place again. They offered to make it up by packing my food free of charge but what can make up for ruining a family dinner? They ruined the family dinner for us. We paid for the bill (and even the tip) and got out of the restaurant. I ended up having a fast food for myself once we left.

Hamed

Had nice double birthday dinner here. Tuesday evening around 6:15 was full house, but we were lucky to get outside table in less than 10 minutes. I understand its not uncommon to wait 30+ minutes though. Service was good as well as food. 2 or 3 waitresses approached us during evening, all friendly (and good looking ;)

Karen Dallas

Great view if sitting by the window. Quite busy there on Sunday afternoon...in fact, a bit too much people sitting right next to each other and only separated by plexiglass, considering covid 19 protocols. Also saw quite a few parties of 5-6 people that clearly weren't living in the same household. Hope management will address these. Aside from this, service was great and food delicious. Ordered the garlic prawn spaghettini and roasted salmon. Both full of flavour and salmon cooked to perfection. Only complaint was that the garlic rice that came along with the salmon was undercooked and a bit hard to chew on. Other than that, was a great lunch.

Ania Kruger

Great decor location and food! service could be improved. We were told it was a 15min wait for a table. 30 min later I went to check in, noticed quite a number of empty tables on the patio, when I inquired the hostess looked a bit panicked and said we would be seated right away. Also no highchair avail which seems silly as there were a lot of families dining and a booster seat vs a high chair is actually a big difference for kids that are not 2-3+. But overall would go back for the positive factors!

Lifestyle travels

Excellent brunch menu and dog friendly, as I tied my dogs to the railing outside of patio. Very friendly staff and helpfull.

Pizza Samurai

Can’t complain. This place met my expectations of a worthy restaurant. The food came out hot and tasty, the location was nice, and the service was pretty good. I would recommend this to anyone who would like to have a nice dinner or to just have a drink.

Jarrod Porter

Sure it's a chain but the food is great, location is unique with awesome atmosphere and the service is consistent. It's a solid choice. Brunch happy hour is also we'll worth a look.

Golrokh Khalafi

Great location off the beach with lots of patio space and a tremendous happy hour!

As a long time customer who (pre-pandemic) would go to Earls at least once a week I was super disappointed during my visit this week. While the food was good, the prices have gone up significantly ($5 on some menu items). We were given the online menu and while I was searching through it I saw the price for a dessert. I asked to order it; however, our server said it was a mistake and that the price was much higher than that. I asked if they would honour the price as stated on their online menu and the server said he would have to send over a manager. The manager came over and said the website has some wrong prices and the menu is acting up and IT is working on fixing it. The manager also said they would not honour the price as stated on the website. Now I totally understand if a website is having technical issues; however, if the prices on some items are inaccurate I think it is the restaurants responsibility to either notify customers before they view the menu or honour the prices online. Overall, we left with a bad impression and have no plans to return to our once favourite restaurant.

Yesterday we celebrated a birthday at our usual favourite Earls in West Vancouver overlooking Ambleside Beach. Best decision we made. The staff from the manager to the hostesses to the server are friendly and so helpful. The food is delicious and the location is perfect. I had the BBQ Ribs and it was smoky, sweet and finger licking yummy. We had a wonderful time and no wonder we choose Earls every time for all our special occasions.

Mike Perkins

The food and drinks were amazing and our server Emily F was so sweet!! had a great conversation with the front of house manager, Leah D and she was absolutely the sweetest!! great staff, great atmosphere, will be coming back for sure!

Mahsoo Naderi

Super disappointed with our experience. No child options my service was very poor. I watch the kitchen staff eat french fries off of the plate that was being delivered to my child. Food was cold, my tofu vegan dish was very boring with no significant satisfaction. Our server didn’t even check on us would not recommend.

Nick Ma

I found this Mold in my order. But Stuff told me this not. She think this edible!. What do you think???

Bella Blanchard

Nice job on the design at the new Earls at Ambleside - but I gave the nibbles a pass when I saw the crumbled, dry, burnt pizza crusts stacked on the ladies plates beside me. (Not once, but twice when I've been here.) I preferred to nurse my Rascal White and take in the airy decor. The new Earls offers a bustling location- traffic jam packed beach view patio- with plenty of commotion & line-ups; sporty preps, families & millennials line up to nab a seaside table. Just as a side note: West Van plastic surgeons must be making a killing these days. Haven't seen so many plumped lips & tight faces since the last time I was in L.A.

JB11

Sangria, calamari, tostadas and ribs are all great. This is the ONLY place I like potato salad and coleslaw, and I love them here!

Abolfazl Ghayemghamian

We, 5 people, went there to celebrate our friend's birthday and spend a joyful night together, but the service and the server rudness ruined the night. Their behavior and the way they talk is very offending. They need to learn some manners and must know the only reason they have job is because of the cusyomers. I will never go to this location again nor recommend it to anyone else.

H Boyce

Great location and service, our server was super friendly but the food was okay. My garlic fries was gross and old. My wings was only drumsticks, and they didn’t have any liquor that I asked for.

Arron Sohal

Great atmosphere with delicious food. Handled a large group like pros. Bummed this location didn’t have the chilli chicken, but I found a delicious alternative. Amazing location.

Anda Bosnea

Same great service, good food, and nice ambiance as always. Great spot for a happy hour away from the wet winter.

David McAdam

Food 4/5, Drinks 4/5, Service 2/5, Atmosphere 4/5.Food: Absolutely the most delicious chicken sandwich I have ever had unfortunately the fries where cold, my wife's poke bowl and my daughters Kung pow chicken were both very good for a chain restaurant. Service: It took 40 minutes for our food to come and that was at a slower part of the day. Once we receive our meal our server never came back until we finished our meal. Atmosphere: Earls has done a great job reinventing themselves, decor is a step above Cactus Club. This is a great location just off the water, unfortunately no views of the water.

Bianca Maria

We came in for mothers day brunch today and were very dissapointed. Sherri was our server and it took about 10 minutes for her to even come by the table. By this point, we were already hungry and then proceeded to wait another 10 minutes for her to bring our drinks. She did not check up on us and we werent even able to ask for drink refills. On top of this, we sat waiting with our dirty plates waiting for the bill while she chatted with the other servers. Food was good but not worth it for the service we recieved.

Mandy Finley

First time at this Earls location. Excellent service, fun patio. Inside looked very well done as well. Perfect location to grab some food/drinks after the beach, or a quick bite before the beach.

Tye Lesueur

The brunch deal before 11am is pretty good! I get the chorizo mushroom hash and highly recommend it. They were very careful about my allergies, which I appreciated. Their whiskey sour is alright and the green juice isn't bad. They've got a very good view of Ambleside and I'd recommend getting there early because it's always been busy in the morning from my experience. Customer service is good and it's an overall great meal. Just be careful to order before 11am or else you miss out on the brunch deals!

Holly Comeau

At the door we were asked to produce our Covid 19 proof of vaccine. We were then taken to our window seat. Shortly after the restaurant quickly filled up. I was not comfortable with the very close proximity of other patrons. There were no protecting dividers between booths This is the first restaurant I have visited since Covid started that did not have any social distancing measures in place. I had the prawn spagattini (excellent)! Our service was also very good. I will not return to this restaurant because of the lack of safety measures.

Rajavel loganathan

No kids menu? Is this even a real restaurant then? Trying too hard to be fancy at the expense of common sense.

Leah Morrows

The Prawn Eggs Benedict was excellent. Didn't know that Earl's offer brunch on the weekends. The heated patio, service and Earl's consistency is always nice. The cappuccino was terrible and they should invest into a real Espresso Machine instead of a 'Fisher Price' one.

Kitchen Guru

love the location and service and the Happy Hour menu is fab

Terri-Lynn Switzer

I do not typically like to go to chains like Earls. This last weekend I was invited for brunch there and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. However if it wasn't due to the brunch happy hour, the prices would've been fairly high for what you get considering the neighbouring restaurants!

Pegah Azadeh

What a great experience every single time I go to Earls Ambleside with my family or friends. Specially last Fri for my father's birthday. Thank you Sarah and everyone else who helped us. Super friendly, attentive, professional and accommodating staff. Outstanding service and beautiful location. The food is delicious. Love their white/rosé/red sangrias, warm spinach dip, bbq ribs and cajun chicken, sushi rolls, halibut, quinoa avocado bowl, etc. Glad to have them in the neighborhood.

Darlene Morrow

The new location is beautiful and modern and boasts wonderful views! The food is delicious and the staff are welcoming, my only issue was that my burger arrived on a cutting board. Food should never be served on a cutting board rather than a plate!!

Ashley Swartz

Everything was good, service was very nice, specially we didn't really wait for the food, just a few minutes after ordering food was served. My whole family was please. Good dinner.

Selma Sabouri

Evan went above and beyond for us tonight. He came over to greet us at the table to clear up any allergy requests. Evan the head chef even let the kitchen TL personally run our food to the table and checked in to make sure all was well!

Ankit Rohatgi

The food was super delicious, good quantity, quality and value for your money. The ambience was really soothing and nice. Nice bill time and amazing servers. The one problem I got was an order mistake basically I ordered a medium and they gave me a medium rare steak but they took quick action to make my experience better. Everything was so good that I will still give 5 stars anytime. Really appreciate it.

John Busswood

Madison was our server and she made the experience so enjoyable with her refreshing, down-to-earth personality. I'll definitely be asking to be in her section again! Food was also great :)

farzod darzi

We were there at 6:30 today and the server was somehow in rush. 3 servers every 5 minutes came to our desk asking that are you done? So we can take your plates!!! We were just starting eating. At the end asking for split bills they brought all together bill. Very unsatisfied. Hiring pretty servers is a good idea to attract customers but manners and behavior is the most important thing!

Omar Al-Allaf

I like this place! The food was so delicious and tasty! We ordered Margarita pizza, street Tacos and the Santa fe chicken salad. All were great and highly recommended! The service was amazing and so fast, the waiting time was almost nothing. The waitress was very welcoming, helpful, and so kind. The atmosphere was nice! There are plenty of street parking and underground as well! Finally, you don’t have to wait until you get the bill, just scan the barcode on your table and you can pay the bill anytime, very convenient! Five stars for sure!

Classy West Vancouver location with good staff. Very professional and location location location. Patio dining experience was very Covid friendly and fulfilled the restaurant experience. Bravo

Chris S

Great view, very busy restaurant. Bright and open concept, but can get noisy. Food is great, service can be a bit hit and miss at times, but staff are friendly. Lots of trendy people, fun to watch all the people come and go. Overall, a great Earl's experience.

Hansel Y.

Opening night was handled very well. Welcome champagne was so nice. Very busy but felt well taken care of. Great service and a great location. Food was very good, everything was fresh and moist. Tasted great as expected. Birthday card from some of the crew was a nice touch. Will be back again with our group.

Salil Shah

My wife and I went there with another couple for a casual dinner. The food was quite good and consistent with our previous visits. The restaurant moved to this new location a while back and it is quite nicely appointed and very current with recent trends. It is quite busy, and the atmosphere is not as calm as perhaps one would want depending on the occasion. The service was not as attentive as expected. There is line ups for patrons to get in. And their success makes it for a busy sounding restaurant.

Tony Rodney

Expensive. The food is good and well prepared but the service, though attentive, is a bit clumsy. There are a lot of restaurants out there that are better for the same price, or even less. I'd say Earl's is falling behind the competition and not worth it.

Nasrin Moradinik

Eric, the general manager was amazing and completely accommodating to our needs. Great playlist and atmosphere as well.

Peter Schulhof

VERY RUDE WAITRESS! We were trying\competing to pay the bill! The waitress told us that’s ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!! It is better to teach your staff how to treat customers. I’m not gonna try Earls again!

Sarah Lord Ferguson

Not only is this location beautifully designed, but the food is good quality (try the margarita pizza, prawn cocktail, or chicken karaage for appies!) and the service is friendly. Duncan was great!

Rik Morel

Manager was really kind and happy hour was great

Terence Goyel

Ordered the Plant Based Kung Pao today and they literally forgot the sauce to the dish? It tasted like soy sauce and vegetables, I've ordered this dish a thousand times and this was def the worst experience, didn't even eat it, disappointing.

Larissa Schemmann

I had a bad experience in one other location due to the management and when the food was served However my experience at this location was completely the opposite. The stunning view at the patio, friendly staff and affordable prices. We went on happy hour and we got couple dishes to share. It was a great experience.

Peter B

Yeah pretty good - I feel like service has gone down a little bit since pre-covid, but overall food is still good and a beautiful location.

ali ahmadi

My plate could’ve used a couple more minutes in the microwave. But the fries were properly thawed. Overall a fun night considering the giggles from watching my dad try to work his spaghetti with a spoon. Don’t worry tho, if you ask they will bring a fork.

C Groeneveld

Great happy hour food and drinks. Our server was pleasant and helpful. Update: we had to ask for the happy hour menu as our server didn’t promote this. It’s on their website as on after 9pm. Great after hours snack and drink !

Tim Kraumanis

went around 2pm on September 7th. burger with a lettuce bun was very very very sad. one old piece of lettuce, no sauce on burger, literally inedible. had to ask for new water glass because mine had old chunks of food on it. also, there was a party of 7 adults sitting together when the provincial limit is 6 people. if earls is breaking that covid rule, what else are they breaking?

Olena Martynets

Nice location. Lovely staff. Food is as expected from an Earls. I tried the clam spaghetti on their test menu and it was awesome...like really really good.

Sue-Anne Hu

Great food - a staple of course - but staff make it phenomenal!

S T

Every time I decide to go to Earls I regret my decision after my food arrives – not just for this Earls, but for all of them. The food is quite underwhelming considering the price. I ordered the plant-based burger and the bun was slightly stale, chewy, and the burger was overly coated in yellow mustard. Their white negroni was horrible too. Sure, the interior space is gorgeous, but the food is always horrendous.

Joanne Argatoff, RMT

Had dinner on Friday night with a few friends and our server, Poppy, was amazing!! I haven't had that great of service in such a long time! Food was great as well and will definitely be back.

Jia Liu

Food is really good. I have been there couple times we enjoyed! Tonight Friday 10 May at 11 we had awful customer service with Hanna.our drink came 15min after our appetizer We ask for ketchup she bring it when we done! She didn't refill our water She didn't any care about us Even she didn't take our menu on the table! We didn't enjoy our Friday dinner. So disappointed

Sam V

I do love this place ???? Highly recommended Ambiance and foods were so good

Karan Andrew Singh

It was ok. Had someone's hair on my table and plates weren't very clean. Food was great though.

Ali Bani-Sadr

Best Earls in Vancouver by far! Every experience I've had at Earls Ambleside Beach is far from negative. The location is stunning, overlooking the ocean and a great place to take a stroll after you finish your meal. The high quality of the food and service is consistent, especially if you request Alan as your server. He effortlessly creates a fun and memorable experience with his humour and extensive knowledge about the menu. Thank you Alan, we look forward to coming back to your restaurant for years to come!

Elissa Cheong

I go here often with my girlfriends but last night was specially great. Despite the 40 min wait time (we didn't make resos) we were seated in a nice cozy corner. The food was awesome as always. We enjoyed the Coconut Curry Prawns (a personal favourite) and Tuna Poke Bowl and Street Tacos for our Entrees. For dessert we had the Sticky Toffee Chocolate Pudding (OMG) for you chocolate dessert lovers, the picture on the menu does not do it justice. This is definitely a share plate kind of dessert. Our server Claire provided such amazing service. It is rare these days in busy restaurants like Earl's to have servers take the time to have a meaningful and most importantly genuine conversation and Claire really went above and beyond with us. Thanks for making our evening Claire.

MORI N.

Nice evening on the patio with a nice atmosphere. Nice menu selection with a good range to choose from. Appreciated the range of vegan and gluten-free options. The burgers were very good and.lobster salad was excellent, and service was super friendly.

Amaan Fazal

Decided to give this location a try.. and I must say it wasn’t horrible.. the location makes up for everything.. I ordered salmon with veggies (asparagus) on the side which came out burned :/ the salmon was 8/10 Caesar salad 7/10, pizza 7/10, steak 5/10 the sides were burned :/ service 9/10 the waitress was really nice but had to much on her plate Food 7/10 Location 10/10 Prices 7/10 Overall the location makes up for everything as you can take a walk on the beach after lunch and enjoy what Vancouver has to offer :)

Sheida

I was very impressed with the food and service at the new Ambleside location. Our server was the best....great experience after all! Thank youj

Tabitha-Fay Leo

We called at 11:19 p.m. on February 15th and booked a table for two for 8 p.m. We got a sitter for our kids to be able to celebrate our anniversary. When we got there at 7:14 to see if we could be given a table earlier, they told us that they don't have our name on the list. They even questioned if we called the right location. I had to show the number and the time of the call on my husband's phone till they accepted. But no reservation was entered under our name which was really disappointing. I am sorry that they ruined our night. I wish we had chosen a different place.

Lunch

Mahfar Bough

Very accommodating to our large family groupwith 10 kids and 10 adults.

Martin Johnson

I was there for brunch. The quality of the food and customer service was great but brunch menu is limited to about four or five options. I hope they add sausages and fresh squeezed juice to their menu.

Donnie Tejani

Came by for happy hour, nothing groundbreaking. A satisfying chicken burger and can't go wrong with $5 highballs. My server Allan was constantly on the ball and an absolute pleasure! All around a pretty good experience.

Kaveh Hajighazi

Very busy, the cheese pizza we ordered was half burned and the staff were too busy to care. We also asked to sit outdoor at first and they gave us a table right under the sun and when I asked for canopy they said we have no vacant (as we saw one or two non reserved tables around). We finally moved in with a kid on high chairs.

Alannah Banovac

Beautiful location, but parking can be a pain. Seated at the bar until the patio opened. Nice bartender, nice waitress and the chef came out and delivered our meal. Happy hour is a good deal, miss the happy hour burger though.

Tim

Our bartender, Crystal, was fantastic and pours a perfect glass of beer. Great service and she certainly knows how to service customers.

Derek Churchill

I had $40 fall out of my pocket while seated at my table. The staff found it and called me to return the money after I had left the restaurant. I'm very pleased by the honesty of the staff.

Tim Kravjanski

great atmosphere and service is exceptional! would recommend to anyone looking for a bite to eat on the north shore

Mossi Asadi

The quality of food was good or acceptable. Have nice location. Nice customer service

Theo Wong

Went in with my family today, we were greeted at the from by a girl named Ibez who was kind and welcoming for the entire experience. Not only did she know the menu but was also able to give great recommendations as she was seating us. Thanks ibez!

Brian C Kerr

Right from the start their was only a very short wait as they prepared our table. The Happy Hour provided discounts not only on our beverages but also on a good selection of starters. The service was prompt and courteous. We went there around 5 pm and sat outside in one of their pleasant settings.

Omid M.

Nikki was our server. My girlfriends and I frequent this location very often for the fantastic happy hour deals, but havent recieved this good of service in a LONG time. Nikki was bubbly, extremely attentive to our needs and truly seemed as if she wanted to make our experience the best she could. The food was great, as usual, and we even tried a few new dishes as per recommendation. Thank you kindly for making sure we were taken care of, Nikki! We'll be sure to head back in soon.

AMIR ALI DOWLATSHAHI

Excellent service. Great variety of drink and wine. Excellent ambiance. Some food are great but some are just average. Steak and sushi : steak was good but sushi was just ok. Wings were good. Burger just average. pizza was ok and tacos were not impressive at all. They have some vegan items in their menu. Verdict : food is not the wow factor in this establishment but the atmosphere , location , drinks and service are good reasons for going back again and again .

Gee

Busy restaurant, beautiful location, nice lounge seating. Delicious food, and drinks. Beach front with large outdoor seating area. Service super slow when busy, expect a wait at peak times. Staff are friendly.

Michael Stea

Beautiful space with an ocean breeze flowing through. Loved the new spicy tuna sushi roll on the menu. Great service and atmosphere.

Kian Abghari

Always a great spot to eat a meal or just coke by for some drinks and appetizers. Beautiful exterior area which is a must on a sunny day. The interior is great as well as it’s very open and modern. Food is fabulous and drinks are great!

Q G

Service excellent food outstanding would come back anytime anyday

Gurjit B

Great self consistent service. My family and I visit here on a monthly basis at minimum and we are always so pleased with the service and consistency. Their brunch deal is great ($9.75 for all brunch items between 9-11 on the weekends).

Rob Reid

Update: Massive disappoint with the waiting times and the games that are played with the hostess station! Bypassing waiting people, friends helping friends, total garbage, people throwing high fives after they talked their way in. Tables were empty and when I complained, I had a patronizing manager assuring me that I'm blind that I couldn't have seen what I saw. I didn't mention this, but my wife notified them that we were celebrating my birthday, no thought about it whatsoever. The service was almost overbearing and my steak got over cooked, even though I started twice what I wanted, and heard the waitress repeat it back twice. The quality was generally not very good at all this time. I'm actually turned off to the point where I refuse to go back. We frequented the old location several times and looked it there quite a bit, but it seems like a massive sir of arrogance has set into this location. Read my first review below and I know I jumped the gun. We spent some very good money in this place and that's the last that we'll spend in there. My recommendation; save yourself the time and money, go somewhere else where they appreciate the business and offer real service. From two months ago: First visit to the beach house! It's got a pretty good vibe, but I'll guarantee this place will only get better. Everyone was very attentive to our visit. We have excellent service from our server, and we had visits from 3 floor managers while we were there. We would go back, for sure. We liked the old location, the new one is new. The food is still excellent!

Sommer Fetherstonhaugh

Our family had a great time tonight for dinner. Alan was our server and did an exceptional job! He was very personable, helpful with the menu selection and and we appreciated his sense of humor. We all enjoyed our food. Thanks also to the kitchen staff:)

Hyojin Yi

Not the best service for an Earls. They didn't give us our water, forgot our bread with the salad, and it took too long to get their attention to order. Usually very busy so if you want quick service, might try another restaurant. Food was a little salty too but still tasty.

Allen Castromayor

Went to the new location for a birthday and was severely underwhelmed. Service was slow and lacklustre, food was decent for those that ordered typical Earls fare, I was disappointed by the over cooked halibut and almost non existent gnocchi. To cap it off, after telling the host staff and our server that it was a birthday we were offered a dessert and then charged for it. This location is nothing like the personal feel that the old Tin Palace held. It seems like Earls Ambleside is most certainly for the tourists, who won’t be back again, and not for the locals who used to love it.

Meghan Herle

This is absolutely one of the most scenic patios in the lower mainland! You can count on Earl's to deliver consistently from the moment you walk through the door; quality and choice of foods for any diet; daily specials ; all served up at a reasonable price. GOOD JOB! Get there early as the outdoor seats will be in high demand this long weekend; At at the restaurant last night with my youngest son; we rode our bikes down about 7 PM and with no wait were seated outside. I was impressed with the service, and although our server suggested the Zen Bowl, something I would not normally gravitate too, it was awesome! I cant recall the last time I was in a restaurant that served such large ice cubes! If you like your drinks cold...this place has you! The dry ribs were as they should be - hot and tasty. My son ordered Peppercorn Steak and Fries and he loved it. So did I. When we were all said and done the bill for the 2 of us was $80 withno alcohol ; very reasonable. The restaurant is huge, and it would be my recommendation to drop by; enjoy the view; enjoy a very good meal, whilst being served by well trained staff members. Certainly a recipe for a good time! Finally we have another choice of restaurants in West Vancouver's Ambleside. GOOD JOB Earl's!

M D

Great service, wonderful view and awesome prawn tacos! A good place to hit for happy hour and a walk to Ambleside after. Great value for brunch????

Sharin sheikh

Very good food and good price. Love how fast our food was ready and how nice our server Kevin was.

Nia N'Gola

Pretty late, but I ate here on NYE. First time eating at this location. Poppy was our waitress and she was AMAZING!! She really knows her wine and food pairings! She deserves a promotion. Food was very good too!! We had a great time that evening. Thanks Poppy, hope to see you again soon! (:

Yasmin Virani

Had lunch there the other d ay. Staff are exceptional nine - Micky looked after us very well. We both had the cheeseburger. Yam fries were very good. The patties were rather dry and overcooked. Better to have one big thick one I reckon. I'd not go again frankly, altho it's a nice place and the Staff are exceptional.

Mariya Otten-Andrew

Food was good. Love the atmosphere and decor. Though it was busy and didn't have obvious spacing between tables (closed table), I felt very covid safe since they used plexiglass.

mandy Hayes

We had an amazing evening out with Jude being our server and could not have asked for a better server. She was pleasant and engaging and made out night even better. Thanks Jude!!!!

Laura Wilson

We made reservations ahead for Sunday brunch with the girls. This was my first visit at this location but my friends had been before and have always had a great experience. The location is lovely. Right along the Ambleside waterfront. They offer patio and indoor seating. It's COVID season and Earls provides hand sanitizer upon entry and there is a hand sanitizer station as you leave. The menu is available online and they have scan QR codes affixed on the tables to make it easy to access the menu with your phone. I like that it reduces paper waste in printing menus and having to toss them after each use. Our server was lovely and helpful and the overall service was excellent. Our drinks were offered top ups frequently, which I certainly appreciate. It was the hottest day for us in Vancouver and the refreshments and air conditioning in the restaurant were a blessing. On this visit for drinks we ordered: ???? Green Juice (it was sweet and tangy and refreshing. Good if you are used to green juices. A bit of a shock to the palate if it's your first crack at such a healthy juice). ???? Mojito. Was very nice. Lots of ice. Nice honest shot. Minty. Refreshing. Couldn't have just one. ???? Cold coffee with a hit of Bailey and cream. We took the hot version and added it to a glass of ice. Was delightful. Next is the food• I ordered the Ahi Poke Bowl based on previous reviews. I can say this is definately one of my 2 favourite poke bowls I've had so far. It was delicious. You have the option of rice or salad and I opted for the rice and am so happy that I did. I wasn't able to finish the bowl as it was so filling but I gave it a good effort. It was delicious from the first bite to the last. I am not usually happy with sauces (as they often overpower a dish), but this was seasoned and sauced perfectly. The avocado was perfectly ripe, the mango diced nice and small. The tuna delicious. I will be back for this bowl for sure. My GF ordered her go-to Chorizo Hash with Hollandaise Sauce. She has a gluten allergy and this is a safe dish for her. The hash was very good, but the Hollandaise was disappointing. It was bland and for the extra charge to add it to her meal the portion wasn't generous. If not for the Hollandaise she felt her meal would have been delightful. My other GF tried something new. She went with the Lobster and Prawn Benny. She also found the Hollandaise disappointing, but it didn't stop there. The portion seemed small and it tasted bland and unseasoned. The natural flavours were not highlighted at all and it felt uninspired. We were most excited about this dish and felt let down. Overall we had a good experience and will return, but won't likely order the Lobster Benny or anything with the Hollandaise. Hopefully, it was a one-off about those items, but not worth our money trying it again. Plus the menu has a great selection of options to explore. Like I said, my Tuna Poke Bowl was fantastic, as were the drinks and the Hash. We had a good time and appreciate the service and the attention to detail in keeping the restaurant clean and safe for us to enjoy, especially in this strange pandemic season.

Ryan Devlin

This very trendy and popular chain restaurant is consistently wonderful. Casual with great service and strict Covid-19 protocols in place. So good I forgot to take pics. Oops. All their salads are winners. In fact, you will not be disappointed with anything you order.

Kobe B

Expected more after a 45 minute wait and they do not take reservations.. Please ensure your young waitress's dress appropriately. Our beautiful waitress gave good service but she had such a low cut tank top and short, short, tight skirt which seemed to be the chosen attire for most or is it the expected dress code of managers for their young female servers? Taking advantage of your young female servers...

Samir Goel

Very busy, get your name on list as soon as possible. Open and airy and great happy hour!

Claire Ye

A group of us seem to be making it a habit to join in on Friday's Happy Hour a couple of times a month in the Lounge area. Great food, drinks, ambiance and staff. Shout out to 'Jess' for her attentive serve!! See you next Friday.

Hosein Nazaripour

The food was rather delectable if i might say, I found it to be quite an exquisite dining experience!

Ella Fetherstonhaugh

Over priced. Food was fair to good, service was superior.

Xavier Cadoret

Beautiful location. The patio was great, there are dividers up between all the tables. The washroom was clean and well decorated. There can be a long wait here but I just grab a drink from the Heirloom cafe on the other side and walk the beach until the table is ready.

Nasim M

I had given them a 5 star review before. Used to go there all the time and support them with their new location and recommended to so many people, I was their customer for over 20 years since they had been in North Vancouver. Since Covid-19 we try to limit our social dining out as much as possible. So called them this time and order a food and told them if it is okay to pay with a gift card which they said yes when got there to pick up our food the girl at door refused to accept the gift card, tried to explain to her we are not comfortable have a dine-in but we used to come here before all the time she went inside and check with her managers twice but still the answer was no. They only accept gift cards for dine-in. It is not right at all they already got their money through the gift card and should accommodate people more and have a better understanding of the whole global pandemic. Will NOT go there and support them anymore as I felt so uneasy as how ignorant they could be toward the whole pandemic.

Peter Symons

Our take out was 20 minutes late, the order was wrong, and they forgot to give us cutlery.

Maxman Williams

I have never given a negative review on a restaurant because I am a server myself and I know how challenging it can be. With that being, said I feel like this is deserved. I sat with my two friends at the bar this evening, waiting for a while to get served by one of the bartenders. Our appetizers (dry ribs and garlic fries) came out half an hour after being ordered. No one checked on us and we tried to get the attention of the bartenders to no avail. Our entrees came out half an hour later, and I ordered a steak with medium doneness which came out over well done with the texture of a burger patty. After flagging down a bartender I waited another 20 minutes for my new steak, which turned out fine! And I’m not trying to come across as entitled, but if this were to happen to one of my guests when I was serving, I would’ve at least had a manager come by their table or comptd a drink off their bill, but for some reason we even had an extra drink added that we never ordered. Despite this, I still tipped 15%, but I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this Earls.

Dana T

One of my first ventures out to eat post-COVID. It went pretty well. There’s a shift to paper menus and QR code bills on the table. Had the crab and prawn gyoza, half bbq ribs but ended up loving my partner’s Roasted Chicken + Truffle Mashed Potato more. They were all amazing but that was reallyyyyyy good.

maede sobhani

brand new location with amazing view. huge line up to get a seat in which is understandable. i had a burger with fries which turned to be bit salty but the size was huge. however, they offered Happy Hour Menu until 12 am which beer price is really reasonable.

Georgina Worsley

Lovely location. Great service. Good food.

Amy Essery

Great atmosphere all night. Drinks were amazing, as was the food! The real star was our server Allen, he had the best recommendation and was always near to ask us if we needed any refills! I will be back for sure. Thank you!

Nupur Jhanjee

Very disappointed with the kind of service we received. The server was very pushy for us to order, we arrived at 8:00pm, had we knowing the restaurant is closing at 10:00pm we would have planned accordingly. We were told just as se got our mains around 9:30 the restaurant will be closing at 10:00pm. 15 mins before they closed we got our last drink which was ordered at 9:30pm. We didn’t even get the time to finish it. Then a male staff member very rudely asked us to leave, he said sorry guys we have to close I will have to ask you to get out. Food was good but the service was horrible. Sorry Earls Ambleside, I won’t be dining in any more.

neda hosseni

We decided to check out the late night happy hour this weekend- we called earlier in the day to see if there was a late night happy hour cuz we couldn’t find it online- the young lady we talked to was great, she listed off the each of the food and drink specials, and offered to make a reso for us. We declined because we didn’t know when we will actually be able to get there. When we finally made it there, it was a gong show. The hostess could not figure out anything. We stood at the hostess stand waiting to be acknowledged for several minutes. (While they gossiped amongst themselves) Then she didn’t understand we would prefer to eat dinner in the lounge- and that we wanted to have a drink at the bar while we wait for a table. We sat at the bar- I ordered a Tokyo cosmo- it was amazing. The bartender we had was very nice. After waiting for 30-40 minutes we asked when our table was ready, after seeing many tables were available by then. He checked into it for us, and our name magically erased itself off of the list. He notified the hostess and they were about to sit us in the restaurant. Grr. Had to wait while they set up a table for us in the lounge- again. We wanted to order right away, but our server left us- for a while. When we finally ordered and got our food it was cold and the fries were half empty and sad looking. It took twenty minutes to get new ones. As you can see, every part of our night out was very unsatisfactory. Earls is usually very good. Even great sometimes. Maybe this night was a one off, and everyone was off their game. I don’t know if we will go back to this location.

Nicki Ellis

Fantastic cocktails and excellent service at this Earls location. We had a nice table by the window and watched the sun set. It was the perfect place for two friends to enjoy an evening catching up over drinks and dinner.

Chris Wong

Went back for dinner with friends and ordered kungpao with extra prawns. And what i got was plate of burnt vegetables and chicken and very dry noodle. My original posting from couple of months ago was with 5 stars but not this time.

Andrew Green

High quality, good price, nice location. So far, I have tried the burger, and the sushi. Great service. My friend ordered a poke bowl but they gave her sushi by mistake. When she told them, they apologized and brought the bowl, but they didn't charge her nor take the sushi. Staff are so friendly.

Nafnlaus Einstaklingur

Service is appallingly slow. Took over 5 minutes for the server to greet us and take our orders. Multiple tables left with empty cups and dirty plates; not sure if they're short staffed. Finally our drinks came, they were unfortunately warm. This place has gone downhill. Even to pay the bill took over 10 minutes.:/ Too bad that on a beautiful evening in West Vancouver, the Earl's experience but a damper on the night.

Mike M

Excellent experience, great food and service. Especially happy with our service from Sophia G, super friendly and went above and beyond to make our experience special.

Walter Green

We ordered two beyond the meat burgers, and it was delicious. We enjoyed it.

Gillian Sutherland

While there were some glitches with the online reservation system (which I think they've fixed!), for being such a new restaurant, I had a really good experience there. Their happy hour menu had plenty of tasty options on it, the beer selection was alright, and even though it was huge and crowded, it didn't feel *that* loud or anything. Great service, too!

Meylina L.

Great service. Good food.

Hesham Elfar

I like this location a lot, it's pretty big. There's a lot of parking all around the area. The patio is a good size. The only reason why it's for stars right now is because they're online menu doesn't work. When you scan the barcode it brings you to the menu, but it freezes and doesn't show you any food or drinks. The only thing that works is showing you the bill lol. During these times, you really need to work on getting that fixed ASAP. We ended having to ask for paper menus, which isn't bad. Just not covid friendly. They set up the tables with a lot of dividers, and spaced everything out nicely. Lastly I'm giving them four stars because the warm potato salad with my meal wasn't as good as it normally should be. Looking past these small things, our waitress is really nice and their watermelon drink was delicious. Definitely recommend you try it.

BARRY JAMES MACPHERSON

Tried this location for the first time after a hike with a few friends and had a pleasant experience during happy hour. The views overlooking the inlet and the neat surrounding businesses in the area makes this a great location. (5/5) The food itself was good and met our expectations, it is better than other Earls locations (4/5). However, the quality of service we received was surprisingly impressive (5/5), our server had exceptional attention to detail, she only came by when we actually needed something and always knew exactly what we’re looking for before we ask. Shout out to Alana - thanks! Would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking to have lunch or happy hour at Ambleside.

S S

Great food and service. Went there for brunch. Recommend avocado super toast and Benedict. Don’t recommend waffle and fried chicken

Sarah Z

Came in today for their grand opening and we were so lucky to have the lovely Alan as our server. He was not only so informative and knowledgeable with all menu/drink items but so engaging and we just wanted him to be by our table the whole time because of his bright spirit. Made our lunch far more enjoyable and created an amazing experience. Great asset to the team!

Alison Sharpe

Staff is absolutely top notch and is extremely careful in following covid safety. Food is fantastic. Everything overall exceeds what I could have asked for. Keep up the excellent work thank you!!!

D K

Service, food, and the experience here is great! We had a wonderful bartender, Cass, who made the night extra memorable.

RAJEEV BATTA

Came into earls tonight for a quick happy hour. Although the night was intended to be brief, after some phenomenal suggestions from our lovely redheaded server, our evening ended up lasting upwards of two hours. Alan suggested we try a lovely Okanagan wine to go along with our crab and prawn gyozas. A wonderful evening indeed, will absolutely be back again soon!

Joanne Rogers

This was the 2nd time going to this restaurant and both times food and service was great. I had the tuna poke bowl and it is one of the best dishes I have had. It has a little bit of heat, sweetness from Mango and some yummy crunchy bits and such a flavorful sauce with creamy avacado and tasty tuna. This is a great location. Will definitely be back.

Pamela Jones

I always like to go there to eat, but last month wasn't my day with family, when we got a table there was a happy hour they call it I think, the food about %50 off until 4pm. We got in before 4pm, took us a bit longer to order, the waitress looked at his watch said mm, 3min pass ???? happy hours sorry. To me was unprofessional at all, I was very disappointed with the service. N the waitress was not in the working mood for some reason, made me feel I just wanna leave.

Darlene M. Kurtz

Best Earl’s Anywhere - Lots of quieter places to sit or outside or where the music is loud. Lovely design. Comfortable seating. Awesome service! And an updated menu with lots of vegan or light options.

SV Vancouver

Great food! Alen was our server, good service

Brian Cluer

If I could eat at Earl's every day, I would. They have such a great variety in their menu and each item is so delicious!

Asked for a seat at the bar- they had space but was told can’t accept any more customers due to having only 1 bar tender and he was backed up !! Truly a joke!!! Can you wait 20 minutes from a young arrogant hostess- never again! Past experiences - ??? Arrogance , over priced average food

Unlike some of the Earls I've been to, this location is very bright and open. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Went back here again for lunch today and did not have a good experience. To start off we were told it would take 25min for a seat. This would have been ok if the restaurant wasn't 35% full with a 1:1 staff to customer ratio. Tables were sitting uncleared for a while and no one was doing anything. At one point 4 staff were standing, chatting at the hostess stand while a manager cleared a table. The next issue was the food. My wife's kale salad was very bland and lackluster. I only ordered the chicken strips and fries but the quantity and quality was only a tad above ordering chicken biggest at McDonalds, except I paid 2x the amount for it. Lastly my nephew ordered a half order of Fettuccini Alfredo, this was the worst of the 3 orders. The creamy Alfredo was just a butter and Parmesan sauce, definitely not an Alfredo. Hugely disappointing to think someone would send that out of a kitchen and try to charge money for it. Doubt I will ever try this place ever again.

Great place for lunch with the family. Food was good, the staff friendly and efficient. Very clean and modern with excellent rest rooms.

My cousin had her son’s 4th birthday in Ambleside on Sunday so some of us decided to go to Earls for drinks and food after. We hadn’t been to Earls in probably 12 years. Our to go place is Cactus on Schoolhouse in Coquitlam near home where we live. Beautiful place, right on the beach, they told us 2 hours waiting time but texted us in less than an hour and the table was ready :) It took the server 15 minutes to come by to take our drink orders and as we were hungry we placed our appetizer orders at the same time. The appetizers came out but not the drinks. We were still waiting for our drinks. A new server came on and said she would be serving our table and had no idea that we had put in an order for drinks (4 lime margaritas). She said that the other server didn’t put the drink order in and we had to wait because the bar was very busy. To make the long story short, it took almost 50 minutes for us to get our drinks (after we were done eating all our appetizers which by the way were pretty good). I have never ever waited in a restaurant 50 minutes for my drink, we would have left if it wasn’t for the respect to our host! We got the drinks finally and later ordered 4 more which the server came by and said she is warning us it’s going to be a while. The second round arrived after a half an hour!!! The food was decent (muscles were great!). I don’t usually do reviews, but I think it’s important for the managers to educate their staff on customer service, YOU DO NOT HAVE THE GUESTS WAITING 50 MINUTES FOR A DRINK, AND IF A SERVER FORGETS TO ORDER DRINKS FOR A TABLE YOU “RUSH” THAT ORDER, IT IS CALLED “CUSTOMER SERVICE “. After 45 minutes you don’t say” I just checked on your drink orders and it’s second in the line” That is just not acceptable!!! Regardless, we enjoyed ourselves, company was great, food was decent and as I said we are easy going people and don’t complain but this one we never experienced before! I mean who waits 50 minutes for their drink in a restaurant especially if they are campaigning on service and quality! Expected way more from Earls on the beach...

First time at this location.Great service and great food.

Grace Fetherstonhaugh

A really good place to have a tasty bite. The food is quite quite (just a bit too greasy) and the servers are mostly hospitable. However, the wait is much too long and the restaurant sounds more like a pub. The wait time is 30 - 45 minutes every time and sometimes the servers when the time's up they keep you waiting for longer. Earls is very loud. It sounds like a pub with the loud music and loud conversations. Overall, a pretty good restaurant.

We were so excited to start to see our community slowly start to re-open. There were new Health and Saftey protocols that didn't seem difficult to abide by and made sense under our current circumstances. The staff and management were very attentive and cordial. We really enjoyed our time here at Earls. One of our favorite places before Covid-19 and happy to see them back as we slowly reopen the service industry. Thanks ????

Thank you so much to Earls Ambleside for an amazing dinner with amazing staff. Cassandra rocked the bar by herself and made us feel very welcomed. Would highly recommend this place.

Brooke Cumming

The service here is awful. They clearly opened this before everything was set up. The management has a clear lack of care for the customer. Having worked in the customer service industry for years, it is quite simple to be able to handle guest concerns. 1 star is for the good food. On a side note, a lot of the servers are very awkward. Even one of their floor managers was talking to me about how greasy and shiny my pizza looked. Not something to say when someone is about to eat their food. Who wants to self label the food as greasy???

Jshandeep Jassal

Lovely experience! We had a bad experience at a different local restaurant (not Earls) and the dinner manager offered us free dessert to cheer us up! So kind and thoughtful.

Orit Katzov

Not great! Disappointing, as we had much better meals there. Dry overcooked burger and impossible to chew clams in clam chowder. Most enjoyable dish was sweet potato chips.

A five star dining experience at Earl's in West Van tonight. Excellent service, superb ambiance, delicious and perfectly prepared food, luxurious dessert. A most perfect place to dine!

After 5 visits, my thoughts: A varied, casual menu; competent kitchen; quick and friendly service; good ventilation. Well located - a short block from park and Sea Wall. Occasional hiccups at the entrance but staff shortages and Covid protocols are presumably the cause.

Sam de la Fosse

Impeccable service and great food that sums it up. And there's usually parking right next door in the underground. Great spot for a date night or a get together with friends. They also have a Vegan and Plant ???? based menu now which has great options including Beyond Meat burgers. Slightly on the pricier side in my view but worth it ????????

I called at 11:19 on February 15th and booked a table for two for 8 p.m. We got a sitter for our kids to be able to celebrate our anniversary. When we got there at 7:14 to see if we could be given a table earlier, they told us that they don't have our name on the list. They even questioned if we called the right location. I had to show the number and the time of the call on my phone till they accepted. But no reservation was entered under our name which was really disappointing. I am sorry that they ruined our night. I wish we had chosen a different place.

Loved it. So good to be out again! Very safe protocols! Food was excellent!

Excellent service and food, Good price, good quantity great atmosphere. Can get quite busy but we always go as a family and have not had a problem finding a table. For dinner we book. Try this Earls you will not regret it. Well run and well managed. Nice menu. we will keep going back.

THE SECOND IMPRESSION Andrew Partridge, General Manager made contact with immediately. After some discussion my husband and I, along with a very dear friend, decided we would use the $50 gift certificate that we had been previously given and go for dinner. This time we were seated in the lounge. Freya was our server and she was fantastic. I honestly think this woman should become a sommelier as she has a passion for good wine and a keen interest in vintners. Dinner hummed along smoothly. My husband decided to order the fettuccine alfredo as he did the first evening and I opted to try a burger with yam fries and our friend had the prawns. All I can tell you is the wine and the entire meal was very good, although my husband says the pasta still could have been a bit warmer. My burger and yam fries were good. I also made an awesome discovery. The yam fries tasted extremely delicious with the chili lime sauce that came with the prawns...who knew? The shock came at the end of the meal when we went to pay and the restaurant comp'd our entire meal!! We insisted it was not necessary but the restaurant also insisted that they wanted to do this for us. All I can say was we were willing to give the restaurant a second chance and we're very happy with our second experience and their kindness was over the top! We look forward to many future meals with friends at this beautiful restaurant. Thank you Andrew, Paolo and Freya for all you did. THE FIRST IMPRESSION: Well the saying goes, you only have one chance to make a great first impression. This restaurant bombed royally! We were all meeting at 6 pm for birthday party. The guest of honor had not yet arrived. The waiter did come and introduce himself and then wandered away. It would have been nice to have been asked if we would like a drink. To give this fellow the benefit of the doubt, he probably thought he would wait for the guest of honor to arrive before taking orders. The guest of honor finally arrived at about 10 past the hour and we proceeded to wait for our waiter to come back. He finally arrived at nearly 6:30 to take drink orders but by this time we were all hungry and decided to order our food right away. At about this time a family was seated at a table to our immediate left and their orders were taken immediately. We were still waiting for our drinks... The table next to us received their drinks and meals and LEFT while we continued to wait. Finally our meals arrived but my husband's meal was stone cold - not great for fettuccine Alfredo. He promptly returned the dish to the kitchen and the management came to the table to profusely apologize. The chef personally comes back to our table to present the meal to my husband. This time the meal is tepid at best. Again, the meal is returned but this time my husband tells the waiter to keep it. Again, management arrived apologizing profusely and stating the kitchen staff were unaware that the pasta needed to be boiled before they put it on the plate...duh! Well all this was going on, I did not have the heart to tell my husband that my soup arrived and it was lukewarm as well. Also it was supposed to be an appetizer and it arrived with my meal. This restaurant is beautiful and the beach setting is exquisite. I am going to chalk this up to the fact the restaurant has not been opened that long and they are working the bugs out. My husband sent his meal back and refused anything else and the restaurant did comp my meal, as well as give us a $50 gift certificate. Unfortunately we may give this on to someone else because I don't think we will ever go back there. Like I said. You only get one chance to make a great first impression.

I have been to this location so many times. The food quality is not the same as before, and they don't care when you inform them; they make up some reasons.

Af Sh

I like the environment but not so much the food. I feel I can’t chose from their menu. I think that’s my preference because they have various options. I only going with my friends because they like the restaurant.

The food was great as usual. Excellent service from Hannah. We were shocked when the Manager told us she’d taken care of our bill. Thank you so much!

The food is always good, the service is almost always friendly and efficient and the location lends nicely to an after-dinner stroll along the ocean. It's also nice to have the option to scan the QR code to pay and leave when you want. The most frustrating part of any dining experience for me is when you're finished and ready to leave but the server is nowhere to be seen and then they do the quick drive by with just the bill and you have to keep waiting for the machine. This way, we just get to pay and leave when we're ready to.

Dilraj Grewal

First time at this location. What a beautiful view! As always at Earls, great service, amazing food (crispy tofu bowl is the best!), and friendly staff. We will be back!!

Ali AMIRLOO

It was quiet busy today when we went. We tried out their happy hour menu which was good except that we noticed Stella drinks on happy hour menu being almost same price as regular. My friend was also not pleased as she couldn't get her extra ketchup inspite of asking fee times. Other than staff were very nice and helpful.

Jennie Li

Like a lot of other food places in Vancouver, the way this place is run is going down hill. It is Covid and there's SERVING staff doing push ups on the floor (waiter with shaved head) and didn't see him immediately wash his hands after. Bartender puts a rag on the ground, then uses the same rag to wipe the inside of a fridge where food goes, didn't wash her hands and immediately after served someone their wine.

nicole h

Bigger better burger and fries. Burger pattie was bigger and tastier than most. Bun was good and didn't get all soggy. Would order it again. Fries were ok, kinda small though. Service was good. Great location adjacent to Ambleside seawalk and Marine Drive. Not too expensive.

Rich Masters

Had a great family dinner. Alan was our server and he was awesome!

Put a 1 star review and after speaking with Eric about my experience the customer service was great. Thanks again

My discomfort driving home after a lunch at your establishment conveyed to me that you use MSG in your food. There was no disclaimer on the menu and you should know that many of your customers are allergic to this flavour additive. Also, Sticky Toffee Pudding. What a joke! Have your chefs never heard of dates or done any research on how to make a proper Sticky Toffee Pudding or, perhaps, even been to England? One of my party refused to accept it when she realized it was actually a chocolate sponge pudding. Altogether, a disappointing lunch.

Gene Gon

Starting with the service. Hostess without any idea what she is doing there. Service pretty slow. Menu lack creativity . Ambience : Bar is very beautiful the rest not close . It doesn't seduce me at all.

Tracey Davidson

Your average Earl's. Good option for bigger groups. Slightly overpriced

mircea dumitrascu

Always same thing missing from the order. When you call they blame Skip the dishes. This time they’ve miss the chicken from the bowl. Last time was the poke bowl and missing the sauce, many times missing entire pizza or fries. How can Skip the dishes driver can remove the souse or chicken from inside the bowl. The only reason I am still using them it is because I am leaving in Horseshoebay and Cactus Club doesn’t have delivery here.

Karen Linton

Very busy so long wait for drinks and food. Food was pretty good, friendly service and outside seating nice on a sunny day. Excellent choices during Happy Hour, just be prepared to spend sometime waiting as it’s a popular place!

Tim Horne

Ordered Kungpao Chicken to go on a Friday evening. When I got home I thought—oh no I ordered vegetarian—because I could hardly find any chicken. There were two pieces the size of a quarter. This is horrible—way to discourage take-out because after making the trip, you are now stuck with the substandard product. Feel a bit duped like they know you aren’t going to come back. I phoned the restaurant and whoever I spoke with just didn’t care—like insincerely whups sorry to hear that. Did not even attempt to offer any way to rectify the situation—“oh well sorry” silence. Avoid ordering here at least on Friday nights—staff too busy and don’t care.

Will RL

Always willing to add or create new dishes. The calamari is the best I have had so far, even though I forgot to take a photo. Wines are properly stored and served. Years ago I attended a wine course and one of earls director was there, and I can feel they have improved a lot for wine management.

Ricky Jang

Its deceiving when buying a bottle of wine. Not all bottles of wine are in actual bottles. They give you 750ml off tap. The menu isn't clear. The service is usually quite slow. I feel like I am never served with actual care and class. Im just at another joint and who cares about top notch service here. I expect better for a location like yours. Your servers need better customer service training. Customers want to feel valued. Not like their a hassel to the staff. Their job is to serve and make customers feel welcome.

J X

Service was great but the food was very slow. Nobody from the staff looks like they were over the age of 40. The food was tasty when it finally arrived but this particular sushi platter was grossly overpriced at 38 dollars. My colleagues tried the steaks and said they were reasonable but portions are small. Ambience was great, and the renovations are nice but there are better choices in the neighborhood that offers better food at relatively the same prices (beach house for example)

Aman Darred

Is there some sort of hierarchy that stops servers from clearing tables? It looks so bad to those waiting for an empty table while several staff walk past acting like they can’t see dishes. Our server also gave minimal, low-effort service and hardly had anything to say or ask us.

Ioana Bratu

Service and location were good but the food was awful. The New England clam chowder was so sour that I could not finish it. The calamari was very salty. Please talk to your chef. We were there Saturday afternoon (Dec. 12) for lunch.
