Don't get trapped by this place, seems like an ok hotel at the front desk but once you get to the rooms it's quite obvious that you've made a terrible decision, hard as rock beds, the whole place smells, showers are moldy, afraid to touch anything because of what might be on it, and the water even smells terrible so you can't clean anything, Oh and the pool! It kinda seems like you might get murdered if you go down there or at least it looks like something out of a horror movie and I doubt you'd wanna go in it after seeing the rest of the building

Overall experience is ok. However everything in the hotel is crooked and the temperature control on the shower was almost non existent. Had shower set to warm then suddenly it would scald ne then the reverse. This continued over the course of my shower

One of the best value hotels I've ever stayed at. 9ft deep pool, 2 saunas, weight room. Huge selection of great rooms; under $100, home offices, mini apartments, suites etc. Staff is always available and helpful, sometimes too much so! Only downside is very steep parking lot, can be a bit of a climb from front office to your room. But location is prime and it's a small price to pay for being right next to downtown Victoria.

Very disappointed in the service. I called and asked for a specific room and pricing and when i arrived 10 minutes later i was told that the price was $70 more than quoted and that they didn't have a room for what i needed. After haggling with the receptionist i finally was given a room for $30 more than i had been quoted on the phone.

BED BUG ALERT. This hotel was terrible. Old and lumpy mattresses, the sink in the bathroom was loose. The bathroom was uninviting. Thanks wheel chair ramp was so slippery that I almost fell when trying to navigate my friend to our car. The carpet was dirty. Worst of all there were bed bugs in our room. No warning from the staff and we figured out too late that the chemical smell when we arrived must have been from fumigation. I won't even talk about the breakfast that was offered. I have stayed at many Howard Johnson Hotels but have never seen anything like this. Not recommended at all. And it's expensive. Pay a few dollars more and find a clean place to stay.

This former motel is one of the buildings bought or leased by the city in order to house campers who had set up at parks all over Victoria at the beginning of the pandemic. These are buildings to avoid unless you happen to know someone who is living there.

The front desk attendant was very polite and friendly. It claims to be close to downtown but that only works if you are driving. The hotel overall is quite outdated and the bathroom especially could use a deep clean. Breakfast is just coffee and snacks. The onsite restaurant has been closed the whole time I've been here. Not really close to many "necessities" restaurant, pub, attractions, etc.

The service is great. For a particular reason, we had to be in contact with many different services at the hotel and different employees. They were all great and knowledgable. The suite is very nice and I would go back again.

Awful. Smelled strongly of cigarettes, it was dirty, AC didn't work and had years of dust caked onto it. The windows didn't have screens. No breakfast as advertised,. Instead, we were given a muffin. Pay the extra few bucks and stay somewhere else if you can. Not worth it.

This hotel is not fancy but it is very clean, the bed is comfortable, the room is spacious, and the staff are friendly. Free parking is great and it's only a short drive to most tourist destinations in Victoria.

Very old place for the price I paid. Looks like it use to be an old apartment. Old beds. Old sink. Old kitchen. Old washroom. Old carpets. Old doors that slam shut so hard. Smells old. The kitchen tap wouldn’t stop dripping. The hair drier wasn’t working. Baby niece Found multiple dead bugs on the carpet and almost ate them. They said breakfast included, but it was just a muffin and yogurt that I didn’t even want. Please don’t waste your money here with a family. And I am not even Exaggerating about my stay at allllll. All this is true. Wyndham needs to step it up!!!

I was on holiday and came here for some karaoke and appys. I had been here a few years ago and I loved what they did with remodeling! The wings were good and the service was friendly and quick. I look forward to coming back!

I will say this that it has a pretty good location as far as the city goes. But in the room I noticed that there was blood on the bathroom shower curtain, and on the floor. When they came in to clean up the room the bed was not made and the towels where not replaced just refolded. So over all I would not stay here again. It will not let me post anything without giving a star, that is the only reason why I gave 1star

This our favorite place to stay in the summer, it is directly across from the Lochside and Galloping Goose trail. We live in Campbell River and take our bicycles down to Victoria several times each summer to ride the Lochside we always stay at the Howard Johnson the staff are always very accommodating and friendly, we are always made to feel very welcome.

toilet problem, shower curtain not working properly, staff trying to charge you the 250.00 deposit you have to leave to rent which is a ripped off. the cleaning lady are awesome. 2 stars is over rated but the cleaning lady make that happening.

First things first: The room was quite clean, the beds were comfortable, and the view from our room was pretty nice. The kitchen suite was why we chose the hotel and it was equipped well enough to allow us to cook our suppers there. The price was very fair. Aside from that, the hotel and it's decor are quite dated. Our room had an incredibly strong smell of a deodorizing spray or air freshener. It seemed as though there are a large number of people whom live at this hotel (not a negative, just a comment). The pool area is nice enough, though spartan. The pool is allegedly 9' deep in the deep end, but I am not sure it was even 8'. Good size overall and nice to be able to play around in and throw a ball around. There is no hot tub, however both the men's and women's change rooms have dry saunas. The workout area has a treadmill, exercise bike, elliptical machine, and a TV to watch while you exercise.

We're here for a long stay in a suite. It's an older, quaint little hotel but SO clean and comfy. The staff are lovely. The restaurant has closed down waiting for new management but lots of restaurants close by. The Victoria bus service is excellent and right outside your door. The Galloping Goose trail is across the street. We enjoy daily walks along the waterfront. Today we saw 2 seals. Love it here!????

"HO-JO" Needs total re-vamp!!! Seriously, "Whoa-Jo!!!" Absolutely awful!!!!! No refrigerator. No Microwave. Much of room had broken items. Shower & shower floor dirty upon first entry. Bed broken; had to switch beds in middle of the night. Bugs; spiders and ants. A lot of noise from transients, prostitutes and druggies in motel parking lot. Had no idea when I booked this room from Vancouver, that this hotel was in such bad shape. Took pictures to prove story. So bad, that in the morning, I insisted on a reduction in overnight rate from CAN$99 + Tax to USD $44 total.

In the pictures it looks so nice, in person it was gross rooms were small and washroom was also very tiny. Dirty floor and smells disgusting. Would not recommend this to anyone. Windows are close to ground level and had no screens. The receptionist Calles at 12am to ask for the payment. AC doesn't give out cold air. Everything is very filthy and dusty. Walls and curtains are disgusting. Only one of the key cards works. WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE EVER.NEVER STAY HERE!!
