Here you have the opinions of people who consume the products of Fishhook (Bowling Alley) in Victoria (Canada).
Now the firm has a rating of 4.6 over 5 and this score has been calculated on 127 reviews.
As you can read, its rating is practically the top, and it's based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we can think that the assessment is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they are satisfied with the business, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to set evaluations when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Bowling Alley corresponds to the category of Restaurant.
This is quite honestly some of the best seafood I’ve heard on the West Coast thus far. There are combination of spices, flavors, and impeccable service will keep me coming back for more. You need to try the hot pot is absolutely amazing. The amount of seafood you receive as well as the endless baguette is to die for. I highly recommend coming here.
I ordered the chowder, cod pakoras and the seafood kofta curry. The chowder was medicore, very little fish and too many potatoes. Also on the thin side. The cod pakoras were delicious with a thin crisp batter and the seafood koftas were the best. My only disappointment was they used the same sauce base for all the curry dishes.
Fantastic little spot. After walking past we couldn't help but get a little curious as the aromas wafted into the street. Mmmm smelled like fish. Myself and my partner decided to stop in for a cheeky anniversary bite. After being cordially shown to our table, server Scott was very knowledgeable and helped us decide on the tuna melt, which he spoke of highly. After chatting briefly, we happened to mention it was our 6 year anniversary. Chef Carter went above and beyond and made us feel so special with his carefully crafted tuna melt. Who knew tuna could be so romantic! Can't wait to come back for our 7th.
Daily catch of pacific salmon and daily catch of humbolt squid on top of masala and basmati are both great. Salmon belly sandwhich is tasty. And Seafood kofta on Masala and Basmati rice is also really good. Not lots of room inside, expect a wait.
Must try in Victoria whether you are from here or anywhere! The seafood hot pot vindaloo was perfectly spiced with a unique and delicious full bodied flavour. Amazing customer service and attention to detail. 100 % worth a visit. I would rec a reservation as we didnt have one and had to wait for a bit at the tap house up the road ( it was a tasty wait). No pics as ate as soon as it showed up!
I ordered the biryani and it was great ????. I loved the level of spice and flavors in the dish. I will come back again and try their other menu items. ????
Lunch
Nice place to hangout in the outdoor dining area which is shared couple of other restaurants in the same building. Deserts where good and presentation was great. Parking is bit of hassle as it is street parking.
Fresh and yummy salad with great seafood toppings! Came at a good time not too busy. Red cabbage salad is quite unique, and the fish is seared just right. Green salad has a Caesar citrus dressing that can be added on the side.
Lunch
This type of cuisine is something I've never seen nor eaten before. It's truly unique. I would really recommend eating here
An intimate spot with a delicious Indo-French take on seafood. The service was friendly and attentive. We got the biryani, chowder, and the tuna melt tartine. All three were delicious, each with a distinct flavour profile. While a bit atypical with its coconut milk base, the chowder is a signature and definitely worth a try!
Dine in
Quite possibly the greatest sandwich on Earth, The Belly. Made with smoked salmon belly, bacon, herb butter, sauerkraut, and fresh made pickles. The koftas in the pondicherry was also a very delicious lunch. Worth the trip to a foreign country.

Friendly service and the food is amazing! Love the seafood hotpot!
If we had to go to only one place in Victoria, it would definitely be Fishook. The Biryani was amazing and the fish and chips was light and crisp. Prices were very fair for decent sized portions. We were full and very satisfied when we left but we're still talking about our experience and comparing it to the restaurants that cost 2-3 times as much.
Excellent place to try Indian inspired fusion food. Tea Creme soda was very refreshing. Everything else was very tasty..bit of challenge to eat on small tables
Normally I go for the fabulous tuna melt but decided to try the Squimp Toast at $10 instead. It was delicious too.
Dinner
Super tasty, fresh, innovative food. Waitstaff was friendly and accommodating considering we didn't have a reservation. Definitely one of my new favorites in Victoria. Must order: Gazpacho and the seafood hotpot.
Food is fantastic! The fish and chips are fresh and so flavourful. I love how they have elevated the flavours on each item from the fish batter to the dipping sauce and to the coleslaw. Good and quick service too!
Very good food…the belly is a must try for everyone..worth every penny
Delicious! Fresh and healthy different served of food. I like the restaurant's atmosphere. I enjoyed your meal. I will come back!
Interesting combination of Indian flavours with fresh, local seafood. I ordered the Pondicherry (salmon meatballs over a curry and rice), which was tasty and flavourful, but in hindsight, I would've preferred trying an item with a whole piece of fish, where the fish was more the star of the show.
I got the kofta curry and rice. It was very delicious! Their take on Indian food with seafood was something I had never had. For dessert we got their Chai ice cream and that was surprisingly very good. I say surprisingly because the name Chai Ice Cream wasn't very appetizing for me but wow(!) I was impressed by it's taste. The one thing I didn't like was their take on pakora. They were not my favorite. Pakora was more like the South Indian bajji. I will definitely return and try the other items on their menu as well.

This is a really great little resto! Really imaginative and creative menu mixing European, North American and Indian cuisine in a really interesting way. Simple surrounds with no unnecessary frills adds to the experience- it seems to all be about the food. Staff seem really dedicated to the mission as well as they work away in a small open kitchen. Their spicy chowder, mussels in vindaloo stock and their squid biryani were all excellent. I can’t recommend this place enough!
The flavors in our dinners were extremely delicious. We were blown away with the unique taste of our meals. We tried the biryani with cod, fish and chips, and catch plate with salmon. Great place for all ages! We would definitely recommend to others and we'll be back if we visit Victoria again : )

We were looking for something healthy and a little different than the usual clam chowder. so we found this place on Google maps and boy oh boy were we pleasantly surprised with the most amazing seafood chowder we have ever tasted! I mean this menu offering is packed with flavours and they have a open faced sandwich topped with smoked salmon or smoked tuna lots of different flavours to savour. Its kind of a fusion place and it’s so so delicious we definitely give this place two thumbs up, Enjoy!

Good variety of seafood with an Asian twist. Service was great, and it seems to be a popular spot. We ordered the chowder, tuna melt, and fish & frites. All were very good and served in good time.
Friend found this place online, didn't know what to expect from ambiance to plating. It's a low-key almost diner joint. Food served in baskets and paper as well as heavy plates. Think "street food." And the best street food that'll ever pass your lips. The baguettes are a texture I've never experienced before: the crust is a sort of crispy flaky almost like... phyllo? But inside the bread is a pillowy delight. What's demurely listed on the menu as "sauerkraut" is an Indian-French(?) version that'll blow your mind and tastebuds. Think flavor, flavor, flavor--and some spicy heat: Fishhook is for the adventurous eater. I wish I were a food author so I could describe Fishhook's cuisine with justice. To make you go. Or maybe not. Keep it a local secret.
Great place with tasty food. You will not get here 'classic' chowder, but they version of it is pretty good as well. Everything is fresh and delicious. Try their Tuna Melt tartines. Absolutely amazing.
Food was great. Great taste. Amazing spices. Too bad they have chosen to participate in medical Apartheid. Just following orders will not be an excuse much longer.
We are finishing our meal right now, SO DELICIOUS!! The chowder was so yummy, the tuna melt: I had to wrestle my wife for the last bite, the Daily Khatch was amazing. Nice people too! Love it love it love it!
Recommended by a friend. We tried a few things. It was awesomely delicious and the service was super fast even though it was packed. My favorite were the mussels and the tartine. The mussels were wonderfully flavored, the hint of ginger in the broth, plump and juicy succulent mussels...yum. the bread on the salmon was so light and airy I can have another. Salmon belly cooked to perfection with slightly pink center paired with housemade pickles are to die for. There are definitely enough spices in every dish they made including the salad. They made their own sodas.
Indo-French influenced seafood as suggested by the staff discussion and sustainability local sources are stressed.. this restaurant has a very friendly atmosphere and totally delicious food. Any question is answered fully..our fishhook chowder was really tasty.. communal seating is featured with some smaller tables.. this is a hidden gem of a restaurant on Fort Street..we will be back !
The two working out front were exceptional. I believe their names were Lex and Scott. They were so efficient at everything. Put our order in right away which never happens!!! And then the cook in the back was such a special treat, I think his name was Partner or Carter. 10/10 will come again
Food: Amazing, delicious, unique taste. Price: Fair for the portion size Staff: Friendly, great customer service.
This place is usually busy, but we managed to get in before the rush! We had the patio to ourselves and it was very lovely! Our server was super friendly and the food was amazing! My partner had the biryani and I had the sweet pea gazpacho! Both were absolutely delicious and would highly recommend a visit!
Worst service ever! Do not waste your time going to this restaurant. Small restaurant that sits no more than a dozen people inside. Not family friendly and the menu is mediocre. We were from out of town on a Friday night around 7pm and asked for a table for 2 adults and 2 children age 5 and 6. The female waitress told us that it was an hour and half wait which we agreed to and left our phone number down for a call back. We went for a walk exploring harbor front and came back to the restaurant an hour later because one of our daughters needed to use the restroom. I looked at the waitress who took down our phone number and nodded, asking if we could use the washroom, she said go ahead while my husband waited right at the door for our table. After using the restroom, I decided to go back to our car which was parked right across the street from the restaurant to change our daughters into warmer clothes. My husband still waited at the restaurant door. Two hours after we put our names on the waitlist my husband came back into the car because it was getting chilly and I stepped back into the restaurant asking about our table. To which the waitress answered: I gave your table away because I called and the number didn't work. What a lie! No one called, no voice-mail was left and not to say that we were standing right in front of them the whole time. If they didn't want to serve family with kids, could have just say so from the beginning. How pathetic!!!!
A wonderful experience. The Indo-French seafood fusion concept created some really memorable dishes with very unique flavors. The fish and chips were amazing - seasoning on the chips and the dipping sauce were so delicious. The Fish chowder was flavorful and hearty and perfect for a cold and rainy day. The tuna melt was very savory.
So delicious, almost everything can be gluten free and I had some of the best gluten free fish and chips if my life with a spicy coleslaw, and no gluten reaction
We really enjoyed our meal here. The muscles were amazing as you can see from the huge empty bowl. I had the seared tuna. Awesome service and great food.
Meh. We didn’t love the Indian-fusion flavors very much. It doesn’t go the best with the types of fish the restaurant has. Seafood is still good quality though. Staff was OK.
Service
Awesome food. They believe in fusion and hard work. I tried some of their items in the menu and all top notch. Local restaurant with a international touch. Highly recommended and do try their chowder soup. Severs are awesome and will help you in every step of the experience. Best in Victoria and for a reason. Great going guys!!
Went there expecting Indo-French fusion but is more Indian-French fusion. Food was excellent. Had biryani, rock cod pakoras and a tomato-clam bisque that was highly flavored Indian style with spices. If you order just one Biryani to share; it is more than enough!
There are gluten free options which made me super happy as I am visiting from out of town with a friend who lives in Victoria. The server took our orders, everything came out fast, and tasted great, BUT my order was brought out with gluten and I had eaten a few bites before realizing. Update: My previous review included an issue with how this was handled. Even though at the time it was due to a mistake in my order and having eaten an allergen, the manager, Russ, was more than understanding and when out of his way to compensate my order. I would definitely come back as the food was really delicious and the manager does care about the customers.
Amazing food. You can literally taste the freshness of the ingredients. At first I thought the price was a bit above average (my initial impression assuming that it was a casual restaurant) but after the food came, the large portion sizes surprised me. I think this was the first time seeing such a large portion size, especially for seafood, at this price and for this level of freshness. Would 100% come again.
The food was spicy, although we even asked for less spices in advance.
Dinner
Awesome food, they nailed the indian for mild-palette-people thing. It does taste like spice and all things nice but not too much. If you are looking for authentic indian, this isnt it, but if you're looking for classic western seafood with a twist, this is your jam.
I got the Squimp toast with a small bowl of the Fishhook chowder and their house cranberry-basil soda. I am BLOWN AWAY by the flavour. This was such an incredible dinner with so much flavour.
Service
This place was an unexpected open faced sandwich surprise of awesomeness. The menu is unique and mouthwatering and they have a lot of gluten free options, which always makes eating somewhere way more exciting. I enjoyed this place so much that I think about going back to Victoria just to eat here. No joke.
One of my top five restaurants in Victoria. Everything I tried was phenomenal and unique. I love the seafood hotpot here as well as the mussels, the bread came with those two dishes was so good too. The restaurant is quiet small with a few tables, too bad they closed down the other location. I would love to go back to try more sandwiches
We loved this place! We came for dinner during a week night, around 6:30, and the place was already quite busy, so we had to wait about 30 minutes to get a table. We order to share some mussels in a curry sauce and they were phenomenal! Perfectly cooked and super tasty! Then we ordered some main dishes, that were fish (tuna or salmon) on a rice bed with curry and were also really good. Service is helpful and friendly. A totally recommended restaurant!
Delicious!!! The spices!! The favor!!! So favorful!!! Services was amazing. The place was not pretentious, it was down to earth. Portions were huge. We had the poutine, which was not like anything I have ever tasted, fries were very crispy, the favor was out of the world. I also had the mussels in the curry broth and it was so delicious that I used up all my toast to soak up the broth. They even gave me extra toast after!
Service
The food is not bad, but the flavour is all over the place. If you aren't familiar with Asian or Indian cuisine you may enjoy it. Portion sizes are decent too. My biggest issue was the service. Maybe it's due to covid or not having enough space in the restaurant but you have to put your plates away after the meal. This is ok for a fast food place, but the food served is trying to play the part of fine dining. The servers do their best role play of servers, but it is very confusing how the servers will ask you a question while leaving your table. You also have to go to the front of the restaurant to order as the servers don't come to ask for your order. All in all average, nothing really too special. Come for, as one of the servers said to my table while walking off, "Indian and French fusion cuisine that gives you an interesting palate.". Or as I would describe it, Indian food with some fish.
Amazing take on Northwest cuisine plus South Asian tastes. Everything I had was incredible. Fish and chips fried like pakora, and the biryani were great.
Good.food and reasonable prices. Nice community courtyard where you can get a table.
