REVIEWS OF Ebizo Japanese Restaurant Ltd IN Victoria

Eric Yuan

Awesome little place...amazing food...very busy for lunch...reasonable prices. I always go with my aunt to catch up and spend an hour drinking tea and having sushi. Of course there are other things on the menu if that's not your "cup of tea".

Andrew Lane

Best sushi in Victoria...

Natalia Barjasic

Amazin tuna tataki! Good sunomono salad.. Fresh fish. Cozy buzzing atmosphere even on a Wednesday night.

Shawn Glover

Awesome fresh fish. They prepared them amazingly and with great service. It is also very affordable

Kelvin Fong

Best sushi place in Victoria, friendly stuff and No.1 Sashimi cone in my life. Reasonable price ????

Roselle Marentette

Awesome! This was some of the best sushi I have ever had. Great atmosphere, really fresh food. I couldn't have asked for better sushi.

Dailyn

Always amazing food and people! Our favourite sushi in Vic by far.

Esther Chan

Absolutely by far hands down no questions asked the best sushi restaurant in North America. If in Victoria you must try it. Nothing compares. Salmon rolls are awesome. The dynamite and Cali rolls are works of art. This stuff belongs in a museum. Long time customer, 10+ years and the quality has always been superb with friendly hosts. If you don't reserve, expect a wait. It is still worth it. Even in the rain. Don't claim to be a sushi expert but I have eaten in some of the more famous places in the bigger cities and none could compare. It is that good.

ali najafi

I'm a harsh critic when it comes to sushi, however, I'm still surprised that this place has such high ratings. Went here for lunch on a Thursday (I had been here once before many years ago), the restaurant was very busy with a cozy atmosphere. The service was fairly attentive and the food came quick. The octopus sunomono salad I ordered was quite lovely. The raw seafood inside the rolls was of great quality, I just found that the sushi rolls and nigiri were not made very well. My rolls were falling apart and there was almost not enough rice in the rolls and nigiri themselves (which is crazy because usually there's too much rice). In a place like Victoria where there's sushi restaurants galore, I was just expecting better from this "tried and true" establishment. I don't really see a reason to return, unfortunately.

Gan Cai

Tasty Sushi restaurant. Many Japanese staff work here.

M Fischer

Great sushi, great prices!

Asmaa I. Methqal

Best sushi I've had yet! Come early so you don't have to wait in line during the peak season

morna tudor

Great food. Great prices.

Tommy Castaneda

They have amazing service and really good food. They were so busy when we had lunch and still had awesome service. Very impressed!

Andrew Thompson

Excellent quality and craft!

Aidan Wood

Love love love this place. Pricey but the best Japanese in Victoria

Gwendolyn Williams

Good sushi, great tempura udon, but service was way too slow.

Jason Roudette

Food was great and atmosphere was nice. However when we arrived early for our reservation the waitress said "your reservation was 7:30 and you are “Early” so it's not ready yet" with a very belittling tone. After we were seated she was busy socializing with different tables and took a long time to come to take our orders. Will not come back again due to the waitress’ “selection of customers she chooses to interact with”.

Jen Marshall

Very accomodating for a birthday request. Small place, but wonderful, traditional sushi.

L Louis

Delicious food, very friendly staff. Ordered vegetable tempura, and a spicy tuna and salmon roll. Everything was amazing. Very good prices.

not taco

Best sushi in Victoria!

Connor Sorensen

Good quality sushi. Don't eat too much milk/butter fish.

janetbplanet (Intrepid Trekker)

Always great to be here for dinner. Very inexpensive and great quality! Really worth it and at little cost.

Albert Law

My wife and I eat at Ebizo's EVERY time we are in Victoria, we've eaten Sashimi around the world - this is absolutely the best place ever!

R P

Such a great place! I loved it. I sat next to couple who consider this their “second home” and I can see why. I might have to become a regular here. The food was so great and so was the service.

Lina E-H

Poor food not fresh I tried many sushi places and love sushi but this one was really bad

Scott

A good choice for sushi downtown. The rolls seem bigger - not because of the rice but because of the fish! The prices are very reasonable at about $4-6 per roll. I would definitely recommend the scallop nigiri and the tuna tataki.

Rob Wilson

Went here with my wife. We had the venison tataki, miso soup, spicy tuna rolls and tempura rolls. Overall it was pretty good, the soup actually had wakame which was nice and the tataki was excellent. The rolls were a little poorly done (uneven cutting) and the price was a little high for what you get. Otherwise the service was great and it is one of the few places to give out hot towels at the start of the meal.

Liz Goldstein

This place is great! Loved their assorted sashimi, it was delicious and super fresh!

Iona Adam

Best sushi in Victoria. And that’s sad, because there are so many sushi places. This one result does it for me.

Don St. Germain

Found it on Google and truly enjoyed the meal with six members of my family. I suspect it is hard not to find fresh fish in Victoria and we enjoyed the salmon and others. Miso was very hearty, lots of scallions and tofu, tasty. the restaurant is small and reminded me of the ones I used to eat at in Tokyo many years ago. The family was close together and the younger ones tasted things they had not had before, enjoyable and I hope for them educational and memorable.

James Dean

Easily my favorite sushi place in Victoria. I find myself walking farther when i'm downtown, passing Azuma (tempting, but worse) and numerous other places to get here. My only complaint and this is for all sushi in Victoria is the BC roll with grilled salmon skin has turned into a piece of salmon in my roll. I want a crispy piece of skin with a hint of meat on it, not a chunk of salmon. Ebizo is the friendliest and best service in town.

Joel Williamson

Great place for sushi, probably my favorite in Victoria. Expect a very traditional assortment of sushi, but everything is always fresh and well prepared. The place is quite small and gets busy for dinner so make a reservation.

Bruce Harrison

Mediocre Japanese food. Unfortunately, the rice was overcooked - a big no no for any Asian restaurant but especially for a Japanese sushi restaurant charging this amount of money. Will not be back.

Nicholas Angeja

Good food

Jill Pemberton

This place is a GEM, I even brought them flowers when they reopened due to Covid. I love everything and everyone there and will bring this memory to my grave, most likely soon!!!

Taylor

My favourite sushi place in Victoria. The staff are friendly without being overbearing and the menu is straightforward and not miles long. The food is exceptionally fresh and delicious, while maintaining a fair price. The atmosphere is smaller and intimate, so expect a line some nights, but stick around, because it's worth it.

Wyatt Robinson

Reminds me of my trip to Japan. Very fresh

Joshua Elsdon

Delicious and fresh sushi. Make sure you make a reservation. No high chairs so make sure you bring your own booster.

Nikki Lo

We came from Vancouver for a weekend getaway and read the online reviews of this place thinking "hey the ratings is pretty good!" So we thought to give it a try, but dont be fooled by the star ratings because you will be disappointed. The food is definitely not worth the try. The size of the nigiri sushi was a joke too as you can see in the photos. Also the male manager (or the owner) was giving us a really bad attitude. So rude it ruined everyone's mood and appetite. This is our first time here and for sure it will be the last time too! Never coming back!! Why go here just to try and even get a slightest chance to ruin your evening! Don't be silly!! It's definitely not worth your time!! 1 STAR RESTAURANT ALL THE WAY!!!

Chris Nielsen

Excellent food and service in a quaintly setting, although restaurant is small it makes up for it in excellent service and food!

Marceline Cook

Very good sushi. Fish portions were huge and very flavourful. The only problem was that the waitress took about ~20 minutes to take our order, when we were ready in 5. Still, I would definitely eat here again.

Isabelle Andresen

Friendly staff always quick service. Best tataki and sushi in Victoria- thanks ????

Shih-Chieh Lin

Very good. Great atmosphere. Super busy, so call ahead to reserve a table!

Megan Brynildsen

Best chopped scallop cone in the island. Also other delicious things!

Bruce Cunningham

Another great little Sushi spot. It gets busy at lunch, but I have not typically had trouble finding a table. Great for simple but delicious sushi (e.g. Spicy Tuna, California, Dynamite). Good quick place.

Ryan Miller

Great and fresh foods, small but busy, you better make a reservation:)

Steven Grandy

The Food was alright, but the Service was Absolutely Terrible, Their was only 2 of us and it took over an hour for them to bring 3 rolls, Would Only Recommend this Restaurant if you enjoy waiting an hour + for your Food! Defiantly Choose Omokazi Sushi,

Richard Lane

My favorite sushi place ever! Whenever I come to Victoria for work I eat here every single night. The sushi is amazing and the people that run it are so lovely.

Jeff Cooper

Good sushi. Pretty good prices. Nice cuts of fish.

David Nease

Consistently delicious. I've been going here for years and recommend the place to everyone. They have a secret, off the menu roll that I highly suggest called the Ricky Roll. It's a prawn tempura roll covered in slices of avacado and mixed sashimi. I also strongly recommend trying the venison tataki. It's an item you won't find anywhere else! I will warn you that the severs during the day at least can seem a bit curt. Their focus is efficiency but don't let that deter you, they are really very wonderful people!

Kelly Hudson

Always the best in town. No one gets a 5 but these guys do. I have been eating here for almost 20 years and it still my favorite place for sushi.

Michael Berry

Amazing sushi! Went back ten years later, same great staff, same amazing sushi!

J Champagne

The food was 5 stars, the service was slow. 45 minutes to get our food at lunch. This may not be typical.

Kit Armstrong

Fine Japanese food but I wish there are more menu options

Cognitive Lapse

They've taken the care to make it a truly great spot.

Jim drums

The food, the vibe, the service, all fantastic. But they should really consider getting a bigger space or being open later, because it's always jam packed, and with out a reservation, a group of 2+ can't just walk in. Besides that, every thing is amazing

Brian Norwick

Great sushi. Highly recommend the tuna tataki.

Wilson Wong

Small, friendly restaurant. Delicious food. Go in small groups and enjoy this gem!

Elise R

Sashimi was super fresh. I would recommend sashimi platters.

Noel G

This place is a Hidden Gem of Victoria! I was recommended this by one of my colleagues and told me that it was where all of the locals go for food. He was right. The service what is very classy and timely. They brought out a warm fresh towel to wash your hands with, and tea at the very beginning and made sure that you were always taken care of in a very timely fashion. To begin with the Miso soup was astounding. Most restaurants water down their miso soup and don't allow any of the real flavour to come through. Clearly Ebizo doesn't do that. They have a great depth of flavour to the paste that they use for their miso and use a lot of it to have a great depth of flavour. Next I have the sushi me which was wonderful. There was a great richness to add and was very high quality. It melted in your mouth as you ate it. There was a great variety and I would highly recommend the platter. However the undeniable Underdog in Winter for me was the tempura. The batter that they used was so light buttery and fragrant. It was unlike any other emperor that I have ever had. And to top it all off they used a variety of vegetables that I've never had contemporary form. They had carrots, potatoes, string beans, mushrooms, and turnips. If you were to go here and this is something that you need to get! If you were in Victoria this restaurant is a must on your list.

Caitlin

I have no patience for false advertising to get you in the door. Menu on the outside of restaurant clearly shows the udon soup is $14.50. You get inside and sit down and the same soup is $17!! Explanation is that that is the lunch price, not dinner price. On the outside menu this is NOT clear. We got up and left. Can not support misleading tactic like this. Add to it is how the server suggested to sit us at the worst table in there when we walked in... clearly ‘saving’ the better seats for a bigger group or another customer. The food may be amazing but you lost us because of this.

Matthew Kaiser

One of the best. Always come when I'm in town

Cole Gardner

Amazing quality sushi and great service and atmosphere. The prices are reasonable. We did not have a reservation, but lucked out, as there was a table for two available. We WILL return for more!

Richelle Wright

Super busy all the time. Best sushi in B.C.

Lesia Payne

Freshest sushi and sashimi I've ever had, and it all tastes amazing.

Dave Artindale

Very busy spot with Amazing food and service, highly recommend.

Andria Chapman

Best tuna tataki I ever had!

Stuart Taylor

We've been here multiple times. Every time we're in town. Service is phenomenal and food is always fresh, delicious and well made. Small space though, very cosy

m potts

Best sushi in Victoria! I have been coming here for years and the staff has remained the same. Quality, consistency, freshness never wavers. Ten out ten every single time!

Eric Foxall

Didn't have a good experience the first time eating here. Ordered teriyaki chicken, but wasn't at all like teriyaki chicken. It was fried with no teriyaki sauce. I hadn't hardly touched the food and asked the server what this was and I told her that it wasn't good. She told me that this is what I order and I have to pay for it. She went on to saying "are we all finished." We left feeling hungry and upset that she couldn't have asked what can I do to make it better. I did speak up when paying saying that we're not happy and it's sad that she couldn't make our experience better. I think I'll stick to Sen Zushi or Azuma from now on, for the record I never write reviews, but this really has been not a good experience I couldn't even say how I felt from being cramped around everyone in the restaurant!!!

Ben Star

This is my favorite sushi restaurant in dozens of cities. The tuna tataki is a favorite, but everything is good.

Douglas Fraser

Takeout from Ebizo: uni sashimi, Alanna cone, smoked duck, and tsunomono. The best.

Braeden Peterson

Dinner

Julie Morissette

So this sushi restaurant ranks 4.5 stars on Google map search in Victoria, BC. ----worst chiashi don yet. The rice is not evenly disturbed with vinegar, tamago was dry, sashimi was not cut evenly and no fresh wasabi. Our server was impatient. Very sad!

R .Lapointe

Great spot! The staff are wonderful!

Léïa-Fahé Villeneuve

Great sushi place. Great service, really fresh food, not expensive, if you want sushi, go there. It's better to reserve since it's a small place always full and it doesn't accept new client after 20h45.

Diana Kang

Hands down my favorite sushi in Victoria! Always fresh and the staff are wonderful. Make sure to make a reservation!

Braydon de Wit

This is one of the best sushi spots in town. If not the best! It is a nice cozy restaurant.

Authentic, delicious Japanese food, great price. Wonderful hole in the wall!

Micaël Masse

First and last visit here. Restaurant opened at 5pm, my group of 4 was probably the third table seated. They served us hot towels right away which was nice. It took about 20 minutes after that for a server to come by our table and even look at us. At this point we look around and see a few other tables near us with waters and other drinks being served, even salads and soups being brought out. Finally after some eye contact our server comes by and takes our order. Food and waters came in a somewhat reasonable time and quality was average/ok. As we are about to pay, server tells us their debit/credit machines are down and they tell us to go across the street and take money out at 7/11. So ridiculous. Why didn't they tell us right away before we were seated? Or tell us as we're eating our food? Luckily, we managed to scrounge up some cash without having to go to the ATM. Two of my friends wanted some change, but none of the servers came back to even acknowledge we wanted to pay. Good thing there was some smaller bills so we split up the change between us. Let's just say we are never going back here.

Rhian McKee

It is a very nice place to discover the best sushi in Victoria and the best cook, they are so good...

Henry Tang

Best sushi in town

woggz21

One of the best sushi joints in town

Joel Klassen

i went on a saturday afternoon. filled up very quickly after i got in. i sat at the bar and immediately was given a warm hand towel and water. its a small, unassuming place but i went because it was rated #1 sushi in victoria by trip advisor. i ordered the clams with sake, and the scallop sashimi. the sashimi was fantastic!

R Morgan

Impressed with the quality of the fish that I had. Sushi chefs were professional and engaging. I was happy to pair my wonderful meal with Orion Okanawin beer. Slightly malty notes paired well with the Ikura and Uni. I look forward to sampling some sake next time. Kanpai!

Kate Millard

Best sushi in town hands down. They really have it dialed in. Make a reservation though as this place is always busy!

Jacob F

Hands down the best sushi in victoria! I bring all my friends and family here to show off the town. My favourite dish is their tuna sashimi - great portions of tuna and the freshest quality tuna. Their prices are very reasonable for the quality you receive and did I mention the staff are simply fantastic? Nicest group of humans around. You will not be disappointed!

Christine Bounds-Poulin

Love this sushi place downtown. Better make a reservation.

Jason Pettyjohn

This is my favourite restaurant in Victoria. I'm a born and raised 52 year old fellow and I couldn't recommend this place any higher.

Camiel Cornelissen

Sushi was okay, service was not... Not sure what the hype is all about. Maybe has something to do with the traditional seating booth?

Myc Powers

Amazing. Fresh sushi. Try the tataki... You won't regret it.

Nodo

Traditional sushi with a West coast flair!

Mirjana Rousseau

Excellent fresh food. Wonderful service. Best sushi in Victoria by far. It's always a good idea to call in a reservation as there can be a line out the door.

Andy Kidd

By far the best sushi on the west coast. From LA to San Francisco to Seattle, Ebizo cannot be beaten and must be eaten. Tuna tataki is a must, followed by sashimi. Eat here as many times as you can, you must believe me.

Andy Vogel

Simple, authentic and delicious. One of the best sushi meals I've had in a long time. Would definitely recommend.

Matthew Vos

Been quite a few times and the food and service have always been great. Good value for money. Sometimes busy in the evenings.

Alanna Harlton

The BEST sushi in town, just don't tell anyone - it's hard enough to get a table! (Assuming they do dine-in again.)

有能美Yuu NoMi

Clean and small place to eat. Staffs looked professional at what they are doing. The shrimp tempura was great. Crispy outside and soft inside. It was fresh and perfectly cooked. I got the beef and shrimp teriyaki but it was barely anything.. it tasted good but 20 dollars for that ( the photo) is quite overpriced I think.

Anthony Price

Great fresh ingredients

Victoria Nature

Fresh super quality sushi with great prices.

Phoenix TheRock

Tasty food and attentive service.

Sharon Lam

Yes! Great sushi for the price point! Highly recommend for great food without feeling the need to be fancy inside. Sports on the TV was a nice touch.

Bumsuk Lee

We were a group of 4 + 1 infant and the resto staff were kind enough to accommodate our stroller. We shared a bit if everything: Nigiri / sashimi platters, assorted seafood and unagi dons, beef terryaki, venison and tofu. The three first were basically the same. Tunas, salmon, shrimp, surf clams -all very fresh and nice. Unagi was very good, and the tofu excellent. The rest (beef terryaki and venison) were good, but I don't think I would order again.

Vanessa Watson

Quaint restaurant with the best sushi in town!!

Bryan Bell

Best sushi & great service

Dune Boon

BEST sushi in Victoria, and it always has been. Ebizo's tuna tataki, salmon sashimi, dynamite roll, spicy tuna roll and yam tempura roll are especially delicious. Their tempura is also really nice. The restaurant fills up fast, so make a reservation or be prepared to wait, but it's worth it!

Alejandro Buse

Excellent servers, chef's and foood!! Tried my first raw tuna.

Jeremy Preston

Hands down best sushi in Victoria

Shane D

Most fresh and generously portions of sashimi I've ever had.

Chelsey Faichuk

One of my 2 fave sushi places in Victoria. Try the smoked duck breast! Also, hands down the best sunomono salad in town. Great service, family owned I think. Just a great place.

Sherry Zeng

Easily the best sushi spot in Victoria. Khan is an fantastic sushi chef and always delivers an amazing meal

Best sushi in Victoria

Jan Vozenilek

Since Shima sushi changed their restaurant menu, I've been looking for a new favorite place. This is it! I took my boyfriend here for dinner last week. The staff were very friendly and professional. When you sit down they give you a warm hand towel. The novelty of it made me pretty excited to be there. The food is very good and authentic. Their sunomono salad is amazing. Same with all of the roles I tried. The restaurant is very well decorated and has a calming atmosphere. Great place for dates! I'll definitely be coming back often.

Shirley Wills

Nice place with good prices

Bill Smithwick

Fresh, fast and reasonably priced.

l l

Very good sushi, little cramped for space but worth the wait!

Siamak Sanati

Sushi was great. A small but cozy restaurant that brings a unique experience

Berenice G

I've been going to Ebizo for twelve years now, and have never been disappointed. Their tuna tataki is amazing and their fish is always really fresh. Love the yam tempura rolls, and spicy salmon and avocado rolls. The best sushi in Victoria, bar none.

Eric Y

This is really a nice place and has friendly staff and service. Oh and the food is really good and well made

Celine

Much needed authentic Japanese gastronomy after days of eating rich foods. So we decided to come here. It was delicious and hit the spot.

Colette Cottrell

Unquestionably the best sushi in Victoria and on Vancouver Island. Amazingly fresh fish, excellent service, and an intimate atmosphere just off Government Street. Not to be missed.

Ryong

Great Japanese food but make a booking because its popular for a reason. There was a line out the door when we were there

Chris G

Tried the Salmon and Avocado Roll, Tuna Tataki and Deep Fried Chicken. The rolls were a bit lose, came apart when picking up with chop stick. And the Deep Fried Chicken is approximately 7 chicken wings. It's ok; like any other place.

Jinxin Zhao

Wonderful sushi!

Jeremy White

Fresh Beautiful Sushi with smiley service. YUM !!

Natalie Betanzo

It consistently very good. Never hesitate going there.

Chris Todorov

There's tons of great reviews so I figured this would be our best sushi option in our location. Fortunately, we were there right when it opened because it's small and fills up very quickly. We had a jogging stroller. We're lucky we got there early enough to be able to be accomodated with this large stroller. Service was good. I like that they start you with a warm cloth to wash your hands. I found that the roll options were limited compared to many other sushi restaurants that I've been to. It was nice, though, that they didn't have a Philadelphia roll on the menu, however, they still accommodated me and made one for me! The salmon sashimi was quite thin cosidering they charged $13 for it. I did like the ebi sunomono as it had a good flavour with lots of shimp, cucumber and some seaweed. My husband really liked the miso soup. Overall, it was a good experience, but I've been to many better sushi places.

Anya Rodenburgh Yang

Excellent quality food, good ambiance, superb service, and reasonable pricing. One of the best Japanese restaurants I've been to in Victoria.

Paul Robertson

Aidan

Probably the best traditional sushi in Victoria.

Graeme Horton

Great quality sushi, especially for the price

Josh Knechtel

Our favourite place for sushi in Victoria

Jesikah Post

We've been here a few times and it's been a great experience each and every occasion! The miso soup is excellent, as well as the sashimi... and the service is impeccable. You feel as if you're the only group there. We frequent many sushi places in town and this is one of the best, if not *the* best. Always look forward to going back!

Scott Ziegler

This may be the best sushi I've ever had. I never understood what people ment by melt in your mouth fish but now I do. This was so fresh and delicious. The wait staff was wonderful and attentive. I had clam miso soup which was flavorful and not too salty, chirashi don with huge pieces of fish and ikura cone ,Will definatly be going back!

Christine Oldridge

Ebizo is the best. Top of the line sushi every time. Not just great most of the time but every time. See you again very soon.

Stephan Free

Great food, amazing service and cute servers! Been going for close to 15 years and never had a bad experience. Best to make a reservation as it can be packed with regulars.

The Fernando

Great place. Not terrible prices, but could be better.

Satoko Oka Norimatsu

I have been going to this place for the last 25 years. Today was the first time in like 5 years. Management seemed to have changed. The miso soup was bland and needs more taste but the BC roll was carefully prepared with avocado and it was delicious. Need to come back again to really assess what changed.

Allon Beck

This has been a stand by for us for many years . Always great quality sushi and super service. Their tuna and vension tataki are the best!!

Jeff Rodier

We were on our way to a different Japanese restaurant, when we stumbled across this gem along the way! Our meal started with the wonderful roasted aroma of genmai-cha, which we received an entire pot to refill our cups for the duration of our pleasant dining experience. The service was friendly and quick, despite the peak and busy dining time. We were lucky to snag 2 seats at the bar, so we didn't have go wait the 45 minutes for a table. The miso soup is loaded with wakame and tofu, the albacore tuna sashimi just melted in my mouth, and the salmon (probably sockeye?) was also tender and fresh-tasting, although I do prefer Chinook if it were available. I love that the vegetables served with the salmon were steamed to perfextion, so as to leave the slightest crunch to the bite, and served plain to enjoy the natural rich flavors. They kindly cooked the salmon without teriyaki sauce, and instead made it plain with salt and pepper. Their tempura is amazingly crisp and fluffy, just like Japan!!

Danielle Groome (daniellegroomemakeup)

Best Japanese food in Victoria by a longshot. This is probably one of the very few places in Canada to get authentic Japanese food

Ryan Billingham

Small quaint location that has remained unchanged for years. Reminds you of a typical Japanese hole in the wall restaurant. The rice, a very important component of sushi, is done perfectly here.

Alastair Walker

Great sushi, chefs are exceptional. Wonderful atmosphere. Great service

D S

It was amazing, you won't be dissapointed. You must try the tuna tataki, totally worth it.

Benjamin Prus

Love Ebizo, sushi is the best and so are the staff

Edwin Li

Excellent Japanese food. Busy and efficient service, very polite. Reservations recommended.

TH N

Jeffrey Sendall

Best sushi! My favorite place in Victoria! Love it!

Ross Ulmer

This sushi is the best I have had in a long time. Absolutely would reccomend eating here

Wilson Hong

Really nice quality sushi. Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff!

Christina Hodkinson-Crook

Hmmm rated 4.5 hey? I'd disagree greatly with that score. They rarely ever answer their phone. They don't have an answering machine. They don't have a website where I could email them reservation requests. Funny thing is our business use to go there very frequently because yes their food is generally decent. Service on par...not so much. Disappointing and they will lose a lot of business from our company. Reading these comments I am going to assume all the 4-5 star reviews are written by the owner and his friends and family under different alias. I do not recommend this place one bit! If you are looking for an enjoyable sushi restaurant may I suggest Azuma on Yates. SO MUCH BETTER both food and service!

clyde gronk

This place doesn't offer all you can eat as advertised on Google.

Rudi E. Wallace

Top Japanese restaurant in Victoria

Jesse Bauer

Excellent as always, great quality ,fair prices. #1 in my books!

I have been coming here on a weekly basis for 10 years now and I've never had a bad meal. Staff is pleasant and professional. Owners are kind people committed to quality. The kind of people whose business you're happy to support. I recommend this place wholeheartedly. I just advise reserving a spot first because they are very popular.

Amazing Sushi ????

Angela O

Super friendly every time!! Amazing food !

Rico J

I give this an one star because the food is really just meh. All rolls have more cucumbers than rice.(I did not order a cucumber roll) If you really want to see what actually sushi is, avoid this place if possible. Go take a ferry and go to Vancouver for sushi. EVEN TnT is better. They also charge me 2 dollars for green tea. Green tea is almost always complimentary in most Japanese restaurant.

Laura Clayburn

Really good food they tend to be busy and you often need a reservation to get it..

GWoo

Authentic sushi at a great prize. Cozy environment and lovely staff. A must when you're downtown Victoria!

Ashley Yip

Great service, nice atmosphere. Sashimi and nigiri sushi left much to be desired. However their sushi rolls were good!

Cara Ellis

Very delicious. Had the 10pc assorted sashimi and the chirashi don. Seafood was very fresh tasting and fairly cut, would not disappoint if you like sashimis. Have yet to try their other items!

stephan friebe

Great atmosphere, incredible service and the food is the top notch! Best miso soup, sushi and adegashi I've ever had hands down! Dont miss this cozy spot!

Chanice Wood

Best Sushi in Victoria. Large portions of fish in the rolls and great staff!

Neil Aucoin

Delicious, fresh sushi and very friendly staff—would definitely recommend

Jonathan Giguère

Loved the ambiance and the staff were great service was quick. Had an avocado beef teriyaki and chicken dom. We recommend just sticking to the sushi it’s so good!

Christopher Ross

Excellent, fresh sushi. It's a little more expensive than some other options in Victoria but I think it's worth it! Definitely my favourite sushi spot in the city.

Donald McDougall

We were very impressed by our meal!

Martin Schoeps

The food was fantastic and according to the local family sitting next to us, it is the best place in town.

Stephen Fofanoff

Best sushi in town! Great and friendly staff!

Tim Ball

Awesome fresh sushi!

Xavier Thomas

Best sushi in Victoria

luke murray

Best authentic Japanese in the downtown core.

Jason Bremner

Amazing food & service! Highly recommended, great for a quick lunch or a nice sit down dinner. I recommend making a reservation, but walk in works also.

Steven Palmer

Great sushi, often very good quality uni. I agree that rolls tend to be loose, but the quality of the fish is probably the best in town.

Kristjan Gislason

Amazing duck, good sushi A winner

V L

My favorite sushi spot in Victoria! Consistently high quality rolls and great service.

Danielle Gunter

Although the outside of the restaurant looks very unassuming, this restaurant has great quality sushi. The restaurant and menu are both on the smaller side, but everything they serve is fresh and delicious. The service is good too.

Christina

Fantastic sushi at a reasonable price.

Nick S

delicious food! Japanese green tea is awesome too.

Chris Wallace

Amazing sushi, best in town.

Andi Fischer

Best sushi outside Japan!

Christian Nowak

Best sushi in town! Make sure to make a reservation if you go at lunch time, it gets quite busy!

DY

Sushi was not good. Sunomono salad had been sitting in the fridge..., not fresh. The seafood did not test fresh. Not authentic Japanese food. I have been to many sushi restaurants and this place a was a huge let down. The place was so hot and muggy when we went in there I could hardly breath. The tables are small and cramped, you are basically having dinner with the stranger beside you. I don't ever give reviews for restaurants but I felt i had to for this place. My husband and I were from out of town and we're trying to figure out wich sushi place was good to go to. Skip this one.

nat smith

This used to be our favorite place, but we moved away - recently came back to the city and made a beeline back here to have it again. So much had changed for the worse. We came at 7:30pm, even though the restaurant was not full, we asked to sit at a table for 4. The waiter said, "you'd better order a lot" and not in a joking way. We brushed it off, but then came the cold waitress. Throughout the whole meal she couldn't crack a half smile or ounce of friendliness. We were there an hour and a half before closing, so it shouldn't have been that much of an inconvenience to serve the two of us. The yam roll was cold and dry, the california roll was very fishy. They used to have a delicious chicken teriyaki dinner - which has been replaced by a mall-quality chicken don bowl with uncooked veggies. To top it off, the washroom was filthy. Happy to know we haven't been missing a thing since our more. There are heaps of cleaner, tastier, more creative sushi places these days to choose from!

Robert Chainey

Fish is good quality, fish to rice ratio is excellent. Often busy but they do take reservations.

Gabriella Briche

It's the best sushi in town

Shannon Moore

Disappointing meal accompanied with disappointing service. Some of the highest prices I’ve seen for sushi. $20 for a bowl of chicken teriyaki don! Will not be returning.

Liam Moss

Dont try to call this place ever... Should a' known for crappy welcome on phone conversion. never been able to talk or a person and directed to fax machine. ????????

Alberto Galleguillos

It's reputation for the best sushi in town holds true. Always good and fresh.

David L.

Wonderful sushi experience at Ebizo. Not many special rolls, but what they have is great! We went for lunch at 1:00 and were seated the moment we walked in. Within 30 minutes we had eaten some extremely tasty and tender hamachi, spicy tuna rolls, dynamite roll, and house roll. All were great, but the spicy tuna and hamachi were outstanding. Total bill was $28. Good value, good service, and his sushi. Highly recommended.

Jared Hohnsbehn

Ok sushi, nothing to write home about.

taketoshi kodama

Best sushi around. Spicy salmon avocado rolls..

Angela C

One of the best sushi place in town. Recommened nigiri sushi! Not the cleanest restaurant tho. I sat near the sushi bar and found out a chef puts receipts on food once he finishes making it. :( other than that everything was good

Heathyr Uzzell

Amazing sushi, definitely best in Victoria! Would recommend to anyone I know! Kinh Dinh is the bomb

Junyan Zhao

Go for a pretty simple reason...It's just real good. Nothing fancy or finicky just excellent Japanese food

Mitchell W

imo the best sushi place in town .. brought my japanese friend to tears it was so much like home. love you guys

Karyn Watson

The food was very tasty and they had an excellent selection of seafood. They sat us at a table for six when we made a reservation for seven, the prices online were cheaper than the prices on the menu at the restaurant and it took for while us to get our order in. Well try again in the future.

Brian Van Der Haegen

Subtle. Delicious. Always a treat.

KAL RAI

Spicy Pork noodle was great, but sushi was just okay. The staff was friendly. I think the price was fair. Maybe my expectation was too high as Google review scores 4.5.

Brian Zeng

Best sushi in town hands down! Great staff and consistently good quality.

David Lloyd

This place is just amazing

Kalia Leslie

Best sushi in Victoria! Fantastic hospitality, atmosphere, and food. Everything was priced well and the staff were polite. The fish was fresh and well coloured, and tasted fantastic raw and cooked. I'd have to call this the best sushi in Downtown Victoria, and I encourage any sushi lover to try it out.

Kris Monti

Fresh cuts, fresh cuts. The sushi cuts are fantastic time after time

Theo Thi

Our go to sushi joint for 15 plus years! Phenomenal -

Donny Leong

Waited with other neglected customers for 10 minutes before even seeing a hostess (despite having a reservation). Once seated, we waited over 20 minutes for menus, and water. While the service was terrible, the food was mediocre. Good value for your money, but definitely nothing special, and a very limited selection. Will not be back, as there are many sushi restaurants within a few blocks that provide the same or better quality food, and actual service.

Rick Martin

The sushi was fresh and well presented. The service was great.

Liam Denton

by far the best Japanese steak sushi spot in vic!!....maybe even the world????

Jazmin Higgins

Excellent sushi, miso soup, and bento boxes. Open for lunch Tues-Sat (11:30-1:45 pm) and open for dinner Tues-Sun (5-8:30pm).

Nathalie Neral

Amaazingg sushi super fancy. Really good Service and an inclusive feel!

Julia Ratcliffe

Consistently the best sushi restaurant in Victoria. I recommend making a reservation as it is almost always full.

anthony nadolski

Nice place, but there are much better choices nearby.

Angela Davies

Blaming Covid for no dine in service is such bad customer service. There are other great places I suggest people try elsewhere.

Rosie Snell

Best sushi place in Victoria, hands down! Great service, always busy but so worth it!

Andrea Dever

Best tuna tataki in town. Bar none.

Lisa Hartley

Great sunomomo and great quality of food in general. So fresh.

Darin Brise

Favorite sushi place in Victoria on the more authentic side.

LM Woods

Best in town!

Justin Edmondson

Finally. They re-opened this week. I've missed them so much!!!The best Japanese restaurant in Victoria.Cones are sooo good!! つ????つ

K Stephens

Great sushi nice quiet atmosphere.

Caleb Warder

Little more expensive Japanese food, but amazing dishes. Ebizo definitely cares about what they are sending out in terms of food, and executes it flawlessly. servers are the type of people you instantly like just by looking at them. The overall vibe here is great.

Paul Schenderling

Our favourite sushi in Victoria!! High quality and great price. Always yummy

I am No one

The "ramen" was bland. They did not add spice to our sushi as requested. All the waiters were in a hurry and treated us with impatience (bordering on "rude", especially when it was time to pay). Overall, not a great experience. However, the restaurant is very beautiful, cozy, and romantic.. and I did love my own meal, Salmon Steak Teriyaki. But the staff made everything a bit tense.

Larry Sterns

Best sushi we've had in Victoria. Definitely our go to spot when we're in a sushi mood....and if they happen to be closed, or full, we don't go anywhere else!

Lizzy Howe

Excellent choice for traditional sushi in Victoria. Reservations are strongly recommended as it fills up quickly almost every day.

Mike H

Best Sushi! Great service! So happy they are open for inside dining again!

Calvin Clark

Can't wait to go back!

Samantha K

I’ve had great and frustrating experiences here. Today we went for dinner and waited 1hr15min for our food when everyone else around us came and left within 45min. “What the heck was going on?” You make ask and I honestly don’t know and don’t have an answer for you :( Previously, I’ve been many times and have always liked the food. Also the male server with quaff hair is a greater server. The tea is good too. Make sure to make a reservation because it’s cozy (I.e. small) and they reserve every table in the restaurant.

T T

I'd say this and Zen are the two top sushi places in downtown Victoria. Ebizo never disappoints when it comes to large pieces of fresh fish!

Poetic Eclipse

Amazing - best sushi in town. The Spicy Pork Soup is a hidden gem on the menu.

Marc-Andre P.

Amazing quality!! Loved it.

Jayson Van Ee

Fantastic sushi. Tempura shrimp is excellent

Laura Marshall

Easily the best sushi in Victoria. Very fresh, very well priced. Make a reservation and try the venison tataki!

Tae Won Jung

Service

Meg S

295 reviews and the vast majority are positive. It's a little pricier than some others downtown but definitely worth a visit as a treat. You are paying a small premium for quality and attention to detail.

Lauren Zolpys

Delicious, fresh, good portions, good prices, lovely staff. This is the best sushi in Victoria. The tuna tataki is amazing!

Anna R

Fabulous sushi and super friendly staff. The highlight was the most absolutely amazing Tuna Tataki.

Sheena MacDonald

This place is special. I'm coming back and bringing friends

Rory Keogh

Best sushi in town for nearly 25 years though I probably shouldn't say that because it's ALREADY difficult enough to get a table!

Danae Ursulom

The food was fantastic. I ordered the vegetable roll and the yam tempura roll. I also got the vegetable tempura. Everything was prepared to perfection. The service was fantastic - the severs were very friendly, polite and helpful. The restaurant was quite cozy and have a great atmosphere. We had a great time here!

Jennifer Finch

Very nice, quick, affordable food

Andrew Khoo

Absolutely, hands down the best tuna tataki in town!!! Talented sushi chefs, attentive staff that have been consistent for years!

Christine Koch

Sushi was fresh and food came out quickly however you want to be there before the lunch rush.

Danielle Proudfoot

I always recommend Ebizo as the best Sushi place in Victoria. With this comes a caveat though. While the food is great it is pricey. It is also very often busy. So, try to remember to book a reservation. Another thing to consider is that it is a small restaurant, and you may have time constraints applied to your reservation if it is a particularly busy night.

Pauline H

Amazing sushi and sashimi with great service. The scallop and salmon sashimi are both incredible, with very generous portions. We also loved the rainbow roll. Highly recommend!

Norm de Wit

Best sushi in Victoria. I go every time I am in town

Matthew Coxon

best sushi in town I would say, and I eat a lot of sushi, good prices, and friendly staff!

Devon Bottomley

i loved that place. the ebi cheese sushi roll are amazing.

Jay Spez

Love this place ???? best sushi in town

Diana Tai

Best sushi around!

Jess Alwan

best in town. no question! even the simple sushi tastes better due to freshness and quality. never a bad bite.

demi henderson

Easily the best sushi I've had in Victoria. Their appies are also large and delicious. The service was friendly and prompt. All this and the price is on par with other sushi restaurants of a lower quality. I left super happy and determined that this is now my new go-to sushi place. A word to the wise b show up early or make reservations.

The Big D

Best sushi ever.always.

Dustin Perry

Best and biggest sunonomo salad I ever had. Very fresh but was disappointed about how small rolls and sashimi were. Friendly staff.

Gary Lambert

Tuna tataki is a must ! Their Nigiri has less rice and lots of topping which was really nice.

Melissa Lee

One of the best sushi places in Victoria but you need to make a reservation to make sure you get a spot.

Evan Harley

My first visit after trying many other sushi restaurants around town. The restaurant ambiance is wonderful (crowded yet surprisingly quiet), the service was attentive and helpful, and the fish was incredibly fresh and prepared wonderfully. Highly recommend.

Sergei Vujovic

Best food in town! I ate there several times during my stay:)

kiki brewster

This is the best sushi hands down. The quality of the fish is off the charts and the price is extremely reasonable. Small restaurant so make a reservation.

Dawn Myers

Definitely one of the best that Victoria has to offer all at a decent price. There is a reason why it's busy, great food! Be prepared for a possible lineup.

Jessica FitzGerald

Small portion~ but not cheap

Miles W

I absolutely love this place! The most wonderful team serving the best sushi in town. Every visit exceeds my already high expectations. The hot towels never disappoint either. Thank you Ebizo!

Jeromie Hunter

Probably the freshest sushi I've had, and the service was excellent, well worth to visit

nick
