friendly staff, clean lanes and fun place to bowl.

Bad service and expensive

I have bowled here many times. I do find that the prices are high hence only four stars but I would consider it worth the cost. The service is great with very friendly employees. If you’re looking for a place to bowl locally this is definitely worth checking out.

Like stepping in a time warp back to the 80's but a cute little hang out. Has a pay to use pool table. 5 and 10 pin bowling, bar

Fun. Fun. Fun. ????

Great times, great place for a get together with family and friends. These lanes all setup for food and drink. We had a problem with our lane, but the staff were quick to help. Thank you.

It's a ton of fun, and should definitely be checked out

Nice cozy place. Not too busy. They have few 5 pin lanes with small ball size for little ones.

Awesome place for family fun!

Staff was friendly, prices were alright but not a great ball selection

My dad works here

Fun, clean

Love the old school vibe. Great for any social gathering.

Extremely over priced and pretty sure their bowling lanes do not meet health and safety standards

Terrible service, employees other than one guy are always on their phones. The one lady was very rude to my group and asked me “are you broke” and also when I had a question about student prices she then said “ It’s your moms money anyways” I like the style of the place but that one lady was very rude. Also, very expensive (40$ for two people) no wonder splitsville takes all there buissness.

Friendly staff, reasonable prices and good fun. Equipment is pretty far behind in technology, however.

We had my son's 6th birthday party at University Lanes and everyone had an amazing time! 5 pin bowling is hard ????

Loved the 5 pin bowling.

Always Pleasant staff at University Lanes.

Great place with friendly staff. Everything was clean and worked well. Music was amazingly 80s when we were there, very fun!

Great bowling but it's not the nicest location

Nice small bowling alley. Clean and friendly staff.

Lots of shopping centers like dollorama, bulk burn... Metro etc

The music was very quiet and they don't regulate how many people are allowed per lane.

It is a great place to go bowling. The prices are on par with the average bowling prices around, and the environment was great and kid friendly!

Love these lanes always professional, amazing garlic bread

Good atmosphere, available lane with minimal waiting time even on Saturday night when other options were a 2+ hour wait, very accommodating and friendly staff. Would definitely return as a better priced option than the alternatives available, for a comparable environment and experience.

Classic old school style bowling alley. Threw a few games, and never got over a hundred but had a good time and felt like I was rolling with The Dude.

What a smokin' deal they have going here on Mondays! For $20 +tax you get a lane for 1.5 hours for upto 6 people, including shoes!! Treat yourself to some fun.

It was a Very Fun place to be lots of fun and More Fun

Old place, needs some renovations!

It isn't cheap. The place is very dated. Yes, they have two disco balls. But hey, this is bowling. The staff are friendly and accommodating.

Glow in the dark bowling is fun. Bring the kids and get bumpers... could be a bit darker and more glow-y. On the pricey side.

This was the worst experience ever, the shoes were either too big or too small. The lanes were uneven. The music was depressing. The score board kept missing our plays and every time we missed a shot the employees would laugh at us knowing that they gave us a bad lane. Very unprofessional, never going back there again.

This place is a hidden gem. We went here for the first time on our anniversary and had a great time. They have 5 and 10 pin bowling, their prices are decent and the place is very clean and welcoming. It costs $30 per hour for the lane including shoe rentals, and its $2 per round of billiards. The prices are very competitive with other competition and the place is really accessible for people living in Dundas and west Hamilton.

We had our sons birthday party here. The kids had a fabulous time... just right for a small gettogether. Special kudos to the staff, they are fabulous and very very patient from fitting the shoes to serving pizza and water in the end. We weren't rushed out of the place and kids continued the fun after bowling to play on the pool table. We are surely coming back with family and friends. 5 stars.

Lots of available lanes, and not as sketchy as it may look

This experience was terrible. Lady was ignorant. We were told over the phone that our guys with special needs would be $7 dollars flat for bowling and shoes. They refused to honour this when we got there. The cost would've been close to12 bucks for one game. Insane!!

A bit old but fun. Bowling is great!

Love the 5 pin bowling

Little bowling alley which is great for some classic fun. Prices are reasonable and the location is close to Mac.

Kinda old but it's ok

i love this place. its like going back 30 years in time. always a fun time!

Excellent place to bowl. Daily specials and group rates as well as cheaper prices for students. They also have a full service bar with beer, mixed drinks, and nachos!

It is a little expensive to be honest, given the place is a little dated and small. But my experience was still great, even though I suck at bowling :p they also have a food and drinks, and beer. Good stuff.

Trip to the 70s, but clean and nice

Went out with my friend on a Tuesday expecting it to be less busy, but only 5-pin was available. My friend and I paid for an hour which was around $60, so I recommend coming here with a group to split the cost. Overall, the place has a very classic feel, is close to the University campus, and has a wide selection of drinks! Staff was very friendly which added to the experience. Definitely will be returning!

Very old place All machines are old from 1900s Very pricy compared to other places . Poor customer service Diffinitly not recommend for any one . Stuffs are rude !!!!!!

Awful experience. All the lanes kept breaking down

Very friendly atmosphere.

$40 dollars for a half hr session for two people is unacceptable. I don't mind the outdated decor (the charm is what drew me here in the first place) but if you're charging Splitzville prices then your technology should at least work. West end folks need to take a look around and stop wasting their money here when there are so many better options in Hamilton

Great place and provided great food. The bowling machines do slightly malfunction sometimes, but that just increased laughs. A good place for a good time!

A little pricey but really fun

Blast from the past.

The staff were helpful, funny and accommodating. We had a work group here bowling 10 pin and it was super fun. Good music. We also had the burgers and they were much better than I expected. Good vibe and friendly staff!

Very poor service. Paid for two lanes for two hours, lots of technical issues making us wait and taking up our time. When we asked for a refund on five of the ten shoes we rented as compensation (about a 10% discount considering we spent over 200$) the only return offer we got was to instead have ten minutes on a completely different lane that was 5-pin instead of 10. All resolution was further pushed onto us contacting a manager who won’t be in for another two days. The eating section of our lanes was also covered in garbage and food pieces from prior customers. I will never be returning. I sincerely encourage potential customers to look into Splitsville as they treat their customers and equipment much better, have cleaner and comfier eating sections, and offer much more compassionate service.

Had a great time last night! Friendly staff and the playlist was great too

Great for a night out with friends

I am a professional bowler. I would like to share some insight on the quality of this place. The price to bowl here is nearly three times the cost to bowl at the world championship alley, in Las Vegas. The quality of bowling here is obviously not on par to a world championship location, and pales in comparison to every other local alley I train at. Staff here like to believe they are professionals, and thus are qualified to critique your every move. They eyed me throughout my entire game (presumably out of jealousy) and when I was practicing my technique, they commented "now is not the time for trick shots". I should have left after that remark, however I continued my training. Next, they harassed me for having water, a necessity for my high intensity training. They forced me to purchase from their cafeteria which was nowhere near sufficient for my hydration. The quality of the bowling institution itself was also horrific. The lanes were not oiled properly which resulted in my shots being off, negatively affecting my form merely days before an important tournament. The computer system would also act strangely and shut down randomly, wasting precious minutes out of my hour. Eventually, I was forced to leave after receiving multiple disrespectful remarks from staff, when I had done nothing wrong. I didn't even complain to them about the terrible service and quality of bowling, yet they still felt the need to harass me over small rules and issues that were to due with their establishment, not my bowling. I plan to never return here for future training.

Great.

Friendly people

Great spot for family bowling, whether you like 5 or 10 pin. Small and friendly, dated but that is what adds to its charm.

Had a great time. Staff is friendly and helpful

Great. Bowl here every tuesday night.

Very fun. 6 year old birthday party. Great prices, kind staff!

Good place to hang out have fun good prices. And excellent staff

Good but expensive

As good as when I was growing up

Food was great price. Good place for families

Extremely rude staff, very overpriced, outdated broken technology, lane resetting and computers are barely functional, and food is terrible. Do not go here.

We purchased a wag jag had great family time and great food

Its quite an oldy place

too much money. never again

Staff was extremely rude. Were staring at every single bowler, made it feel like you were doing something wrong 24/7. Couldnt enjoy my bowling experience due to the unfriendly staff, overpriced bowling, outdated technology, and music from the 30's. Ended up leaving. Would not recommend at all!

We went there with my family and friends to ask about their price , the old lace came to me and almost pushed me and told us why don't you have the bowling shoes ? We didn't really see the sign cuz it was our first time there and she was very rude to me I told every one to get out and go some where else . Not going there any more .

I have been going to university lanes ever since I was young and I totally recommend it!

We had fun with the family here, the kids love the glow in the dark bowling that is offered. I gave only 4 stars as we all (even the adults) had a hard time finding 10 pin balls that were comfortable for us. I would recommend a better selection.

THE AMAZING VS THE WORST. So here is the guide to University lanes The AMAZING: Best people are the Tuesday Night staff of Dalton and Emalee, As well as Todd who can be found on other nights. Call ahead and see if they are in. I have bowled during the Tuesday night ten pin league and they are the a big part of how i made it for as long as i did. The Worst Beware of the one known as Carol, part owner of the bowling league. Like that girl you know who acts nice so so spend money on her, but will turn around and shame you in public the moment you stop, she is a huge reason why, and will continue to be the reason this business will never truly thrive. Combine with other rude staff members, outside of the ones mentioned above, the old equipment constantly be repaired and serviced, and the bathrooms from the 70's, the world is filled with better ways to spend your hard earned money.

Bartender and beer prices are great. Bowling was overpriced at 60 / hour with shoes (2 people). Management micromanages the moment you try do a thing. Overall other than the bar it is no wonder splitsville takes all their business. Avid bowlers beware- terrible lanes, go to splitsville.

Not very busy. Staff were friendly. Place is showing its age and there were even some noticeable dents in the lane that could change the ball direction at times. Not that it had a huge impact on our scores :) but someone who is more into the game would probably notice that.

We had an amazing time! The lanes were mostly empty so its like we had our own private bowling alley. We managed 4 games in one hour (they gave us an extra 10 min to finish our last one)! We are coming back for their Wednesday deal! Great service and really friendly staff!

The staff is friendly and pleasant for my son's 5 pin bowling league

good fun bowling. both 5 and ten pin bowling. good food options available

There were a number of issues with this place: Firstly, it was extremely overpriced. 60$ for bowling is unacceptable anywhere, even more so considering the level of service and quality of bowling here. For $60 plus a separate $5 each for bowling shoes, one would expect a premium bowling experience, and this place offers the exact opposite. Secondly, the service offered was horrific. Staff were extremely rude and unhelpful, and eyed us throughout our entire game, as if we were doing something wrong. We were constantly attacked for small mistakes in our game, and outdated rules such as "no outside drinks" were enforced, to the point where we were not allowed to bring water in; effectively forcing us to buy from their overpriced, low quality "cafeteria" to avoid dehydration. The food offered by the bowling place was disgusting and overpriced. The one food item we ordered was terrible, and nausea-inducing, and resulted in diarrhea the following day for myself and my friend. It is evident from the food quality and price why they don't allow outside food or drink; no one in their right mind would order from this cafeteria unless they were in danger of starving. Finally, the technology offered here is extremely outdated. The barrier to the pins would randomly move up and down, blocking many of our shots, and causing the staff to become irate with us despite it not being our fault. Furthermore, the computer randomly shut down before the end of our hour, forcing us to leave as the staff again blamed their poor technology on us. To conclude, avoid this place if at all possible; there are many better options in Hamilton for a quality bowling experience.

A hidden gem. We purchased a wagjag but would go back anytime. Great experience and great food too!

Great bowling but the music was a bit to loud.

If you are looking for a small night out with some friends or looking for a slightly cheaper alternative to splitsville then this is a good spot. However the slightly cheaper is questionable as there is a high chance you'll run into technical difficulties causing some of your time to be wasted. While we were there, we had to pause our game several times for different reasons (Score not counting, pins missing, pins not resetting, etc) (I guess we were just too good at nailing spares IYKYK). The staff were super friendly and fixed the issues quite quickly but a good 10-15% of our time was wasted and when asked for additional time they offered no discount. If it was busy we would have probably had to wait longer for the issues to be fixed. The glow and the dark times should really be later in the night but the Retro look to the place is quite a vibe. The place is a bit hard to find (Small Entrance with No lights) and had my one friend driving circles in the parking lot. Lastly make sure to get a good workout in before hand LOL cause all the bowling balls are super heavy.

This bowling place is very fun although the decor is awful and prices of mini pitchers are ridiculous. Great times.

It is extremely expensive here and they made us pay full price for a three year old. Also they charge for bumpers. I have never heard getting charged for bumpers.
