The atmosphere was amazing , unfortunately the hockey game was boring

I went to a Growlers and Edge game in the same week. Both were a lot of fun with a lot of energy and entertainment, even if you're not big into sports. It is easy to find your seats as there are many easy to understand signs.

My husband, son and I attended the Tragically Hip show last night (April 08, 2015) at Mile One. Although the show itself was disappointing, I realise this is no fault of Mile One. One issue I have is that the show was to begin at 8pm with an opening act....there was no entertainment provided until 9pm when the Hip came on stage. However, the biggest issue I have with the facility itself is the fact that illegal drugs were being smoked inside the building. This was a venue rated for Everyone, so I took my 12 year old son for the experience as he is a guitar player. Not even 10 minutes into the show, a very strong smell of weed smoke was evident. So much so that my son asked if we could go outside for some fresh air. This is unacceptable! I'm sure if I had lit up a cigarette, I would have been asked to leave immediately! I saw workers in every corner of the arena checking tickets why is dope permitted to be smoked in a public building?

OLP MGB concert was great. The venue needs some updates. Huge, heavy, cumbersome entry doors, blocked by mobs of people that show up when the doors open. But then the doors don't open u til the porch / vestibule area is a sauna of excited sardine like party people excited to see a rock show. Then the bar wasn't open, nor the canteens. They've planned much better in the past. And the sound crew had a hard time as well.

Needs staff slinging taters and beers in the stands but otherwise great Rename it the taterdome or we riot

A D

Great venue for the basketball game we watched. There were plenty of kiosks to get snacks and the washrooms were well within reach and kept clean and tidy. The place was packed and everyone seemed to be really getting into the game. Can't wait to go back!

There are some great shows and events that take place here for sure. Only complaint is lack of efficiency in food/drink/vendors. Lines are always long and slow to move. I went during the globetrotters show (with 3 kids) and the place actually sold out of cotton candy with no replenishment. Waiting 20 minutes in a line at a time, then to find out that an item you want is in another location. Single debit machines to entire bars. Would like to see improvement in how this sector is run.

Adam Ryan

Great place to catch local sports. Organized, clean, and great staff

Tony Gulliver

Seen cory hart and he was amazing. The seats were comfortable.

Bonnie Fowler

Went to see an Edge basketball game for the first time, parked at city hall for $10 and walked the short distance to stadium. Ate supper at Nitecap restaurant, all pub grub but it was good and suited the occasion. Seats were in the nosebleed section but that was our fault for booking so late. Still a great view. Game was exciting and our team won! Looking forward to going again.

Geoff Beaton

Easy access from multiple entrances and food selections are decent. Seats are comfortable.

char m

Great experience at a concert but they definitely needed more bars open and more bar staff at each location. The line ups were ridiculous! And the bars seemed to close very early. Frustrating to get a drink.

tmppower

Very pricey food and only Pepsi if you are a coke addict. Went for a basketball game but left early- bored to death.

Jacob Burton

The seats are kind of uncomfortable when you sit in them for long but i guess all chairs are like that. Over all a pretty good stadium

Kenneth Green

Mask policy isn't being enforced, most people aren't even wearing their masks, and there is absolutely no social distancing, I feel as if we are sardines in a can. The food has also gone up in price a lot in the past few years. A fries is now $6.50 for example.

Bruce Martin

I take my 2 daughters to the Can Skate program every Sunday at 1:00-2:00. Admission is free for children and only $5.00 for adults .We love going skating there and the instructors are friendly and very helpful

bmann8

Good arena but showing its age

Phil Rendell

Really good place to watch either a sporting event or any other form of entertainment. Every seat has a good view of the floor and prices are somewhat reasonable. Giving a 4/5 because the food is extremely overpriced and not great.

Infinite Horizons

Great building. Like what other people said I think it is a perfect sized venue for the area. It is a great place to go out to watch the hockey. I have not been to a Edge ( Basketball Team ) game yet but I’ve only had good experiences with the hockey games.

Shawn Sieiro

Needs better selection of music artists for concerts. Ice Caps games are alright. Seating is a bit tight.

Vernon Chang

Mile One Centre is home of the curling team, the basketball team "St. John's Edge". It's getting lots of buzz last week as ex-NBAer Big Baby Davis signs with the Edge to play basketball with the team. Mile One Centre is located so close to everything, it's right across the St. John's Convention Centre, close to Delta Hotels by Marriott, close to the restaurants and bars at Water Street and George Street.

Mark Hallett

The venue and staff are good and I understand it's not easy to accommodate thousands of people but why can they not find a way to get refreshments to patrons without having to wait 20+ minutes? Why don't they have people walking the rows offering popcorn and beer? Why isn't there more beer stands during intermissions and why do the washrooms have to smell so bad? Most people don't consider the venue when picking their entertainment ( where else are you going to watch the Edge play) so they've got us by the pills but wouldn't it be nice if someone actually cared about the experience when we were there and maybe, just maybe, maximized their revenue streams.

OT Loc

Your average sports center/concert hall, but probably smaller. Not much else to say :P

C G

I really enjoy going to the Mile One Centre. It has always been a great experience. The concerts have been amazing and the hockey and basketball games have been enjoyable.

Rick Bailey

Basketball, hockey, concerts...all the big stuff in the city happens there, because there's space. Less space for parking.

Travis Galloway

Great arena only complaint is the terrible AC system that freezes the crowd rather than ice canceled my season tickets for this reason.

Patrick Martin

I have been here dozens of times for many different types of events ever since they opened. While there is not much parking, that has not really taken much away from the experiences that I have had there. It is a good place for a lot of events.

Shane Young

Mile One is a great entertainment venue. It has a great capacity for our local sports scene and is a decent size for concerts and shows. Its located in the heart of downtown St. John's, which is great for tourists wanting to experience the city, and for locals looking for a great night out. I deduct a star for a few things. First, there is no parking. There are a few parking garages that are nearby ($10 for the one by city hall and $5 for the one on Duckworth). Otherwise your parking on street for free if you're lucky to find one. But for $5 the one on Duckworth is the best option, in my opinion. Secondly, the sound system in the arena needs a serious upgrade. Its not loud at all, there is barely any bass and is pretty muffled. This has been a common complaint I've heard from a few people now. The food could be better I guess, but it's arena food, so I don't know if that's really a complaint or just something to point out. The best thing there are the Ziggy's fries and hot dogs. Overall it's a great arena, go check out an Edge game if you're into basketball, we have some great talent. If basketball isn't your thing, we will have ECHL next year, so hockey will be back in town.

Shoaib Adnan

Great experience and very clean.

T M

Love going to St.John's Edge Basketball games here, but the food and beverage service leaves something to be desired. Cannot buy a beverage in the fourth quarter!?!

Alicia Chaulk

Been to many sporting events and concerts here. Great friendly staff!

Adam ray

Excessively overpriced for mediocre entertainment. I would find a different form of entertainment and spend my money there. Staff are friendly for the most part. Parking is also overpriced. But that's not uncommon

Stan Miczek

A top notch facility. Great staff. We were treated with class.

Ken Butt

Great adult and senior skating. Ice well groomed. Music selections to skate to. Heated change rooms. Seniors over 65 free.

Tyrone Wheeler

What a great place for a venue. The food, however, is nothing to be desired, and the price quite outrageous.

Paddy Power

No Mary brown in sides yet

Steve Mignardi

Nice arena with friendly staff. The Thank you Canada tour was a great show

Valerie Reid

Excellent venue for a hockey game, basketball game or concert with your friends, family and kids :)

Steve Blackmore

Amazing went to vengaboys

Darryll Warford

It's the stadium, great place to watch sporting events concerts or any other entertainment

StormClaw2

Went to see the Paw Patrol concert Oct 20th 2018. Good show with good facility but a little disappointment you have to pay 10$ for parking on top of an expensive set of tickets.

Jack

Decent venue for anything other than concerts, not particularly clean either

Latino Power aka Devon

Love this arena they just added a 900 l.e.d board that is really the atosphere is great at the hockey games but even better at the baseketball games and they also have concerts every so little while this is one of my favortie places to go for a relax weekend adventure. Ps the food is good to

Miriam MacLeod (Mimi)

The Edge didn't win the game but we enjoyed going. Some great plays and fab entertainment. A great night out.

glenda lynn cranford

Was a wicked concert

Joshua Corcoran

Fun ! Security could improve a child went missing last game I was at . Scary stuff

Brian Hatcher

Biggest indoor sporting and concert venue in the province. Nestled in downtown St. John's it offers a great atmosphere for a day or night of enjoyment. Facility itself offers an array of vendors. Access to parking garage and hotels all while remaining inside using catwalk as access.

Andrew Walsh

Great venue for hockey and concerts. Big enough to get the big acts but small enough that there's not a particularly bad seat in the house.

William Sellars

Good hockey game and affordable, although the stadium is starting to show its age, and is in need of some refurbishing. Bathrooms are getting gross

Curtis Winter

Easy to get to and park for an event. All seats are good

Infinite Horizons

Great building. Like what other people said I think it is a perfect sized venue for the area. It is a great place to go out to watch the hockey. I have not been to a Edge ( Basketball Team ) game yet but I’ve only had good experiences with the hockey games.

Joshua Donahue

The Edge lost the game and someone lost thier child. Besides that the experience was great!

Rick Collins

Great special events venue. Right size for our region. Even recognize the staff.

Kenneth Green

Mask policy isn't being enforced, most people aren't even wearing their masks, and there is absolutely no social distancing, I feel as if we are sardines in a can. The food has also gone up in price a lot in the past few years. A fries is now $6.50 for example.

David Maher

Enjoyed the John Hiatt concert immensely.Great set up for the stage and could see everything great

Brad Gray

Modern stadium, too bad there's limited parking and not many worthwhile events to go to. It's great when there's a hockey team playing.

XCrabCoonX _

Went to my first hockey game a few days back, great place and had alot of fun there. The prices of most things there are a bit more expensive but the food is cheap. Had fun and would recommend

Danielle Gardiner

Concert audio wasn't the best...drinks were over priced and you could not have them at your seats :(

Ryan Power

Bit aged, not a great sound system. Cant accommodate its capacity too well in regards to services and amenities. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful which is the saving grace for Mile one.

John Marsh

It was an awesome experience I love the hockey game I went to and The Growlers won hooray ????????????

Brian Burke

Great venue, sad crowd numbers for Growlers game

Tara Wardlaw

Went to hockey game. Friendly staff and fast.

Amy Hale

We used the Parkade off Barters Hill. Cash only but they have a nearby ATM. It is directly connected to Mile One which is kid friendly, lots of clean bathrooms, lots of food choices and great views from most seats.

daryll whalen

Went to the Edge game. Great venue for watching sports, especially basketball.

Adam Keats

Been there for numerous events in the past 2 years. Biggest knock is having to pay for parking nearby but normally I coordinate a night out based on before or after any event so the 10 or 15 for parking isn't so bad. No bad seats in stadium for sporting events.

James Yetman

Kids had fun but my wallet didn't lol it would be nice if they even had a family night once a month with cheaper prices on food and tickets just saying you no food for thought.

Shannon Green

A great venue for conventions, concerts, and sporting events. Parking is often challenging though.

Mr.S

Every seats close in the compact arena. The issue i have is with the concession. It's way to slow. You either need more booths or provide those people with more space to service people.

April Morgan

Paid $180 for 2 tickets to see one of my idols, John Cleese and could barely hear a word of it because the sound was so terrible, needless to say I was heartbroken. Don't waste your money on Mile One events, they have no clue how to put off a show!

Liz Taylor

Having spent 10 days at the Mile One Centre recently for the 2017 Brier Curling Championship, I would like to say that it is a first-rate facility. The facility staff (and the Curling Canada staff) were excellent during the power outage that occurred during one of the matches -- they remained calm and worked hard to keep all the guests happy and entertained until the power returned -- well done. However, we were disappointed and frustrated to find that the facility does not have WIFI. The Conference Centre across the street does, and we made use of that, between matches, etc. And, finally, when looking for a water fountain to get a sip of water to take a pill, I was told there are no water fountains in the facility. I did not want to buy a bottle of water -- just needed a small amount. I was told that water fountains are not sanitary, but returning home through several busy airports, I noticed many water fountains servicing large numbers of people. But overall, two thumbs up!!

Steve Walsh

Need more people selling beverages and food at concerts. There is ALWAYS a massive lineup and takes forever to get food or drinks. Hire More Staff for these events ! When your paying over $100 for a ticket you should be able to get a drink without 20 -30 minute wait.

Fawn Hedderson

Nothing like watching basketball live.

Gary Bishop

Watched the Globe Trotters play. Great family fun.

YJC

Awesome concert Dean Brody and Dallas Smith!

Rhona Hynes

Love the mile one..especially after being there for the championship game last night...

Tonia Grouchy

A bigger venue would be alot better but I still enjoy what I do see!!!

Martin Ubank

Well organised indoor arena with plenty of food and drink outlets and washrooms. Home of the Newfoundland Growlers!

Adrienne Crane

The city needs to utilize the venue more.

Kyle Saunders

Edge game was great! Half time and food were good too. But there isn't much legroom between you and the seats in front of you. At 6'4 I nearly had to sit sideways

Darryl Webb

Just love the whole hockey stadium feel, and the ushers are always so nice

Rob Coombs

Home of the St. John's Edge basketball team. Excellent and inexpensive basketball experience. Great atmosphere and crowd interaction. Go Edge!

Katie Gosse

The place is great, clean and staff are friendly! The seats are a little uncomfortable for long periods and little leg room.

Ben Hamilton

The entry was quick, seats were easy to find. The portions at the concession we generous. Minor complaint about the lack of cupholders.
