You have all the feddbacks of real people who are purchasing the services of The Rec Room (Bowling Alley) near Mississauga (Canada).
At this moment the business gets a rating of 3.9 out of 5 and that score has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it reaches an opinions average is high, and it is based on a very high number of feddbacks, so we may conclude that the rating is very accurate. If there are many people who bothered to give their review when they are happy, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to write tatings when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Bowling Alley is included in the category of Restaurant.
Had so Much fun:)
I went to this place with four friends on a friday night. Everything was good until a waiter poped up and rudely asked if we know about their 2 hours policy, while we were still finishing our drinks. No one told us about it at the entrance and the terms on their website don't mention it either. We were so upset by his rudeness and will definately not be a patron of this place again.
spent hours here! the staff is so helpful with anything you ask them! will be returning for sure
Service was horrible, took over 30 minutes to get the order in. Food wqs mediocre, the arcade is average at best, and you couldn't even play the games you want in the vr area
I miss the old arcade. Has a very money grab feel but I suppose so did the old one. It seems to make small children happy though so if you have the money I would recommend it as a place to take them.
I like the games and the bar downstairs if you dont want sit down service but still want to eat. If you.want to watch sports they have good TV upstairs. I think this is a cool place. I hope people will support it.
I liked the rec room great arcade But there restaurant got 2 thumbs down We sat there to eat and the food was so bad i couldnt eat it. I had a chicken ceaser salad and im sure they had no dressing and someone made up some i dont know what It smelled like tire glue the chicken was extra dry the cruttons were soggy of that i dont know dressing I was hungry and i can eat usualy but this stuff was gross discusting My buddy had something else and he couldnt eat either We asked to see the manager and told her to try some of there food and no way was she eating any of it
I went with office colleagues. And we had great time. Played games and eat in dining. Appetizer were good. Main course could be better. It's a fun place for all ages.
Great food, atmosphere and live music!!
Food wasn't that great and the music Is to loud
Great place to take some break from work. It is also an appropriate place to have some team building activities. There are plenty of options- bowling, pool table, individual games etc. The place also offers some food and drinks options. Although, I believe the food options can be better.
Been to the one downtown toronto but yet to go here. It looks amazing and would be a blast unfortunately it's still closed due to covid restrictions. Once it's safe to open I can't wait to visit.
This restaurant is sooo rude I literally just entered the place and they searched mine and my fiancé’s bags I’ve never been to a place that did that my entire life how rude and racist and I told the host and she just shoved it off and was like that’s what they do there. I asked to speak to the manager and the manager took like 10mins and was like that’s what they do to see if the customer brings outside food like is this a movie theatre or a ghetto establishment who brings outside food to a restaurant that’s so stupid!
Cool vibe. Didnt visit arcade, but axe throwing was fun. Bar service was slow. Apps were great. entrees not great, steak over cooked.
We were for a group function that included pizza, veggies, fruit, candies, popcorn, and a couple drinks as well as the games. There is a wide variety of electronic games and games of skill. When we arrived we were shown to our private room. I wish the staff would have explained when everything was and what to expect instead of us wandering around . Our bar was very slow at the beginning, not very well set up as they had to walk to 2 different areas to complete a drink order. The axe throwing instructor was good. Pizza was different with interesting ingredients but the base crust was too thin and edge crust tòo thick and when served it was not cut all the way through so it was difficult to select a slice with tongs.
This place is over hyped. The food was terrible and overpriced. Ordered a caesar salad and the croutons were soggy. The layered chips appetizer made my throat bad as it was too sour. Didn't enjoy the service much either. As I was here with someone, we couldn't hear each other over the loud music coming from the karaoke section. Felt like I wasted my money here. Wouldn't come back here again or recommend. This could've been designed better.
Fun for me and my 9 year old
We had a reservation at the restaurant. They had us wait. Once we were finally sat, asked if we could order and the servers just said they weren’t our server. Finally asked who was our server and one of them came back and said we had no server and the bartender was going to TRY to serve us. Then another came and said, I’m your server. We said, we had a movie and asked what was fast. They said the kitchen was backed up and there’ll be a wait. We won’t be returning.
Too expensive for what you get
Not a bad place to come to! Was fun coming here for the first time with my friends. We got 2 passes and shared it amongst the group. A somewhat large selection of games, but keep in mind that the place gets busier in the evenings. We came at the right time - around 6pm or so - and left at 10-11pm. Was super fun and I would probably come here again.
Great place to have fun and spend time with friends. Little crowded over the weekends though.
Enjoyed so much the first time that we went there again the next week.
Atmosphere was okay, kinda loud on friday night because of the band playing. We wish the lines were shorter for play wrist bands and games, perhaps have a limit of people being aloud to enter the play zone at ome time.
Very good
Cool place
Service
From the moment you walk in, it’s complete disorder and chaos. I had a reservation for 7pm. No one looked at my party until 7:45pm to seat us. There is someone at the counter but she doesn’t make eye contact and ignores you. There is no line, everyone just standing there not knowing what is going on. After we were seated, not one waitress greeted us for another hour. Finally one waitress came over and said she isn’t our waitress but has noticed we have not been helped. Finally we got a waitress who was dismissive & basically missing for the whole party. We ordered drinks that never came and were charged for them. The food is blah, & is served by other people who don’t know who ordered what. We got one jug of water for our whole party which was not enough for the party. Glasses were also dirty. After dinner we played some games. Half of the games already don’t work. The games take your money but don’t work. The set up of the games are VERY VERY TIGHT and you cannot move. And the air quality is extremely poor. I was hoping to have a great time here but after our party spending over $600 on food alone and games another $300, I am highly disappointed in the service and the quality of the experience. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GREAT EXPERIENCE AT THE REC ROOM MAKE THE EXTRA TRIP AND HEAD DOWN TOWN TORONTO.
This was my second time at the Mississauga location. We went on a weekday afternoon where traffic was slow. When we arrives we weren't met with a hostess at the entrance, we proceeded to seat ourselves after waiting for roughly 5 minutes. Placing an order took another 15 minutes. My beer was flat on arrival, had to wait about 20 minutes total from ordering the original beer to receiving a replacement. After our meal we decided to play some games but were left waiting at the bowling/ping pong booth for close to 20 minutes before we decided to leave. It was an absolute ghost town and the staff seemed to be hanging out in the kitchen were they would constantly disappear. I would not recommend anyone visit this location, the downtown Rec Room is much better, with spectacular service. A true shame, buyer be warned.
We went for the outhouse show, reserved a table for 2. After a half hour, we asked a server to find us a server. 10 minutes later our server comes. The server could not answer any questions that we had and so we had asked another server if they could answer them. That server did but unfortunately we were still stuck with the other one. Eventually she came back and took our order. Half hour later we get our warm beers. Half hour after that our food finally comes. I've never had a Margherita pizza with salt poured over it, til now. The nachos were cold and never had anything on there that I asked for, tasted like cold deep fried tortilla chips and queso dip ( the worst I've ever had. Terrible service, long wait times, terrible food, and warm beers. First time in my life I've never left a tip, felt bad but man I was already out $120 for a terrible night out. Also, social distancing does not exist here. I won't be going back
Hosted a party of 16 for dinner and games. Horrible service. Not hostess, we were left standing for ten minutes. Arrogant and impatient attitude from the bartender. Took 15 minutes to see a waiter, even had to ask the bartender if a waiter was available. Just horrible. 6 kids ordered, donut dessert was not available! Just terrible service. Games were fun :)
Looks very nice inside. Lots of games. Food options available.
Awesome place with a great variety of games. Virtual reality, axe throwing, bowling, table tennis, foosball, pool, along with a big variety of video games. Really enjoyed the food as well which is at the mid-high price range but the quality of food is great. Had a friend chicken sandwich and salmon salad - very tasty and portions were quite big. Will definitely go back there for social time with friends. I believe this place would be suitable for teens all the way to those in their 40s.
Great selection of things to try! This game is hopefully back out.
First 10 pin bowling, great times! Brings out the kid in you! Saving up my tickets for something good at the store! Drinks are tasty and they serve you while you bowl!
Its awesome as always.
Friendly staff & the food is excellent for a good price!
My grandson enjoyed it tremendously.it was very enjoyable.
Good place with fun options! Unfortunately we didn’t get to axe throw due to it being closed but maybe next time!
Good place to watch game, friendly staff. They let us stay to 10 mins past the closing time to finish the game ( not to mention we were the only ppl left). Thanks guys ????
There is literally nothing bad I can say about this joint. Exceptional staff in all aspects of the facility. The food is great, the prices are reasonable, the games are better than Dave n Busters. Great place to watch a game, go on a date, bowl with the boys or throw some axes... 10/10, see you soon
Helpful staff. Nice games. Got a reusable metal straw there.
Never ate here. Only visited the arcade with my niece. We both really enjoyed it and the counter staff were very helpful.
I just loved the place!! Better than playdium which is just across the street. Rec room is more about young people who lives to just hang out, play games and have a good time together. It has alot of games that one adult would love to try. Would definitely go there again and recommend more and more people to visit. ????????????
Kept me waiting and served other people who came after me।। Employees were drunk.
Sent to generic email Dec 31 Two evenings ago, 4:45pm Sunday, December 29th 2019, my friend and I decided to check out your venue. I was visiting from Vancouver and she is a resident. We thought it looked really fun and we were very keen to check out all the games the Rec Room has! How we were mistaken.. We were greeted at the host stand (mall entrance) by two very confused people. The young woman seemed really confused about where to seat us and what sort of food we wanted. She informed us that she was going to be done at 5:00pm and she wasn’t sure who was ‘working.’ (I assume this meant who had what sections – yes I should preface that both my friend and I have 20+ years’ service experience so we are VERY familiar with operational standards for customer focused businesses.) She flagged another young man who she chatted with but she eventually scuttled off to find out where we could sit. But before she found the young man she asked us what kind of food we wanted. We thought this was strange but pointed at the menu beside the stand and said that we’d like to eat whatever was on this menu. My friend informed her that we had never been here before… The hostess smiled and said ok…. Most would think she might take this opportunity to explain the general idea of the venue but alas, she did not. After she left we told him we were in no rush and we will just go outside for a smoke so they can take their time to locate a table. Once we returned to the host stand, at about 4:58pm, we were ushered to a table in the far end of the restaurant beside the windows. The tables around us were a mess; several large tables with loads of dirty flatware, glassware, napkins, etc. My friend and I chatted for a couple of minutes then began to wonder when someone was going to come to our table. During this waiting time we observed a family of 3 seat themselves beside our table. We know this because they didn’t have any menus, they looked around confused, and dad went off to find someone to give them menus of which he eventually returned to the table with. At around 5:10pm Ryan approached the table and introduced himself. Since we arrived STARVING we wanted to order on small item to nibble on while we waited for the 3rd person we were expecting. Ryan took our food order (spinach dip) and we asked him for water and told him we’d be ready to order drinks by the time he returned with water. About 1-2 minutes later he returned with a carafe of water (which he plunked down and attempted to rush off again), fortunately I was able to call to him ‘hey, can we order drinks?’ before he was too far gone. We ordered our drinks. Now this is where the fun starts! At about 5:12pmour drinks were place on the bar handoff area (we know they were ours because the restaurant only had a handful of tables and it was only logical since my friend ordered a lighter colored beer and I ordered a glass of white wine). From 5:12pm to 5:21pm I observed the following from Ryan: - He likes to chat with his colleague wearing a black blazer and purple button up shirt in the kitchen beside the pass-bar and POS system. - Ryan likes to go on his phone while in the back kitchen area. - Ryan likes to chat with the bartender colleagues (while his table’s drinks sit getting warm). - Ryan likes to let the colleague in the black blazer deliver beer to that table that sat themselves earlier (sometime between5:12pm and 5:21pm this table had their entrees delivered to their table). - Ryan thinks clearing a big messy table is priority over delivering drinks to his tables. I’m not able to post the rest of the story but we eventually walked out and got called a$$ holes by Ryan
We had a reservation for 16 people on Friday the 20th of September. I had to call FOUR TIMES to confirm my reservation as the first 2 times they couldn’t find it then they promised to change the number of seats from 13 to 16 but when I called one more time before going there they said the table was only reserved for 13 after being put on hold for 10 minutes then hung up on. Once we got there, no one knew where our table was. It took them some time to prepare the table that was supposed to be ready. All the receipts were wrong, food was terrible, and on top of that we were told that our Axe Throwing reservation didn’t exist although we had a reservation at 9:30pm. Will never go there again. What an unorganized place run by kids that have no clue what they’re doing. 0/5.
Lots of fun. Except we waited forever for drinks. Customers seem to be in the staff's way. They also told us we had to leave because they needed our table when there were other table available.
I enjoy coming here for the activities. It's kind of a bummer to see all the staff still struggling after the open. It is a large beast. Drinks are extra-expensive, but we all know to pre-drink modestly. Charging station is definitely gold-star-worthy. Architecture and layout is nice. Could be cleaner. It could smell better downstairs. I'd rec the Rec.
Really amazing food especially considering game places don't try hard enough to make great meals, great service, the management seems to be know what their doing in every regard as everyone appears really organized. Place is kept clean. The designer did a great job with atmosphere. The games were a blast for our whole family.
The place is decently fun. The food is really expensive for what you get and the quality. I would recommend eating elsewhere first.
Pub style food, good service, lots of games and affordable.
Overall it was a nice place, my food was delicious our server was good but the staff could use a bit more training. The manager for the night had horrible customer service as well as the girl at the desk for the game card purchases.
Very disappointed by our horrible experience today, do not go here. Service is unprofessional and very rude with lots of attitude, especially the manager Dimitri. I went today feeling very hungry with two other friends, we spent $110 on food/ drinks and service that was not worth it, food took a while to come and was mediocre, the pizza was cold and lacked cheese. I ordered a steak that was supposed to be cooked to medium with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were stone cold, like literally cold and my steak was cooked well done. I usually don't like to complain but this was ridiculous. It then took us so long to get a servers attention as nobody came to check up on us. My other two friends were disappointed with their food but were just eating it to avoid killing the good mood we all had which inevitably did in fact get ruined in the end. By the time they took my steak back, my friends had finished eating and I sat there for a good 30 mins hungry waiting for my food, until i finally asked for the manager (Dimitri) and i explained the situation and how our experience has obviously gotten ruined. To my surprise, the manager was extremely unapologetic and rude, he did not care at all and just said with attitude ''let me check how long it will be'' I was appalled. And after that, my hunger went out the window and i didn't feel like eating anymore. When the manager came back i told him we just wanted the bill and that it's disappointing that as a manager he is not apologetic. His response was very rude and offensive and he basically implied that we just want the food for free. Like were not paying a $100 bill cause we are cheap and want free food, its so offensive. We then paid for the full bill, no compensation for the wasted time & poor experience, and at the very least NO APOLOGY from the manager or staff. Don't go here.
Has potential as they tweak the place over time with more feedback and data. Downtown location changed the layout a few times to better meet the demographics. It's essentially the same rec room but different focuses on restaurant, gaming, lounge (ping pong and stage area), with added bowling and axe throwing. Lots of rooms to eat and drink, seems geared less to little kids and more for adults .. let's see how it does over the next 6 months but prices are expected
This place needs better air circulation. It can get very packed and all the mixed smells of food and smelly people were terrible. In some areas, like the basket ball hoop area, it can get crowded and you can't play comfortably. The games are fun, but over priced.
Terrible customer service. Waited 25 minutes for a table, which we had reserved in the first place. When we finally got sat down, we waited another 15 minutes in which time no one even came to serve us or acknowledge us. We eventually left because no one ever showed up to serve us.
It's something sorely needed for the area, but there's missed opportunities, the games available are at least industry standard(tho lacking in variety). It's great that they have a cashless system(rfid tap card) in place - the value of credits works out to be is fair. They even have a coat-check room(use at your own risk). But they completely missed a market for the gatchapon machines, and there was only two actual take-home prize machines - one claw(that broke within the opening hour) and a key-slot machine. Everything else was loaded to the card. Not rewarding enough of a feeling for little kids. However, if you have audio-processing issues, or have an issue with background noise, this is not the place for you without earplugs and simply ignore the employees where possible and go to the atm-like machines for game credits. There is also next to nothing in place for the hearing impaired, not a single sign or brochure that I could find to explain anything but the individual games, in one place. If you can't hear the employees, your left to figure things out on your own with charades and written notes. Yet again, something cineplex is ignoring, how many theatre goers have they lost because they don't use subtitles in most the movies, or do anything about noise-control. In-seat audio jacks would draw back -so- many people. It's not like there isn't enough wallspace to have a simple sign to explain the settup. Or a laminated menu with a magic marker so that people could put check mark off their order with the employees when the noise is to much.
Had my daughter's Birthday party with her Besties, and I must say we had a blast! Our Waitress was amazing! Ensured everyone was accommodated, and provided us with our wrist bands for game play, delivering everything all in one receipt making the payment process a quick and easy transaction. The girls enjoyed all Video Games, and games with redeemable prizes too. My husband and I, will definitely be back....with an Adult crew ???????? Thank you for making this a win win Birthday Jam for my Baby!
Sat at the bar with a group of friends for the opening game of the NFL season. Service was decent to start but went downhill drastically. Bartender forgot to punch in food.. double punched in drinks.. had to wait at the end for a bit to figure it out. After getting the bill, wasnt informed about auto gratuity and tipped 20pct on top of that as well.
Great spot to hangout ????
My boyfriend and I came here for a date to eat. This was our first visit to any of the The Rec Room locations. We really liked how it looked inside, very classy and we came around 2:45 pm so it wasn’t busy at all. However, we had an issue with the hostess when we first arrived. We entered from inside the mall and there was a sign that told us to wait to be seated, and no one came for about 5 minutes. We walked in and found someone and they said that the hostess is only at the entrance from the outside of the mall. That was very confusing and a little frustrating. We walked to the other side to speak to the Hostess, and we saw these seats by the window that we really wanted to be at because the chairs looked cosy, and they were all empty. She said that unfortunately there are not enough waitresses and the tables are dirty, so we sat at the bar as that was the other option. This lovely woman named Annette who was serving the bar, asked if she could get us anything and saw us with our menus and also wondered if we would prefer to sit at a table. We explained to her what the hostess told us, and was unhappy with what she heard and understood it was unacceptable without us having to complain. So she worked her magic and got us the seat we wanted when the hostess couldn’t care less (which is her job unfortunately, not the bartenders). We also looked super awkward the bar, as we had our winter jackets and my purse and scarf, we arrived to be seated comfortably. The food came all at the same time (starters and the main meal), which made it difficult to take our time because we didn’t want the starter getting cold as we at the meal or we didn’t want the main meal to get cold as we ate the starter. So we combined everything and ate it all together which is a little strange that it was served that way. However, the food was perfect the Nachos were amazing with pulled pork, and I ordered the ABC Burger. My boyfriend ordered the Short Ribs and the Ruby Sangria was tasty. The food gets 5 stars, the service gets 1. (However Annette gets 10 stars as she genuinely cares about doing her job right and making others happy, if she is not a manager already she should be promoted to one).
We were greeted by a friendly woman who welcomed us and brought us to our table. A few minutes later our server greeted us with menus and took our drink orders; a beer and a real berry lemonade. We were brought popcorn to snack on while we waited for our appetizer. We had a lovely appetizer, artichoke dip and along with our mains, fried fish sandwich with salad and fried chicken sandwich with fries (recommended by our server). The sandwiches were very delicious and the overall experience was amazing.
Prices are way to high for credits. Also tax on a credit is a scam
I'm definitely not their target demographic being in my late 30's. I still enjoyed the experience of reliving my youth with skeeball and arcade games. Only downside is that some of the games that require movement are in crowded areas or too close together.
I had lots of fun playing the games but there was literally no instruction on how to go about some of the games, you have to figure it out yourself or watch others... also wasn't even informed how the points work despite saying its our first time, I wish they were a bit more informative or had some sort of sign telling us what to do and how to claim our prizes!
Food was great . We shared a sandwich and it was enough going into a movie
Love this place. Great combos for drinks and play credits, excellent selection of games, very friendly staff. Can get a bit pricey, but well worth it.
Let’s start with overall review. Not bad at all for some activities and hanging out with friends. Reason i gave 2 star review is because of their own rules and attitude. I did axe throw and axes were almost useless and were not sharp at all. They just charge for no reason. There is no maintenance at all. They have their own rule that you cannot use one hand. There is no such rules and I think even manager did not do axe throwing ever before. You cannot tell us how to throw as long as we are doing in right manner. Everyone has their own style of throwing. Really bad attitude and customer service
Ax throwing was really fun! I went in the afternoon so there was no line up, but it can get very busy on the weekends and evenings. Games are fun and varied.
Nice place to hang out with friends and have fun, my favorite so far is the ping pong (consider bringing your own bats). They have a decent selection of arcade games and axe throwing too. Newly opened "The Void" is an exciting VR immersive experience. Totally worth atleast one try.
Dine in
Tons of games to choose from with usually no wait to play, great value for money, and reasonably priced prizes. The restaurant has a great menu that tastes amazing and the snack bar has a great selection as well. One of my favorite spots to go with some friends.
My friend and I loved going to this place. It’s a fun place to blow some steam off!! Will definitely go back.
Food was expensive and ok, really cool venue and atmosphere but i wouldnt buy sit down type dinner food again. I will stick to the arcade games and poutine :)
Night we were there our server was run ragged handling our table, 2 other tables and the bar. Otherwise the food was good and atmosphere is fun but a little loud due to all the activities going on.
Excellent time. Great for birthday parties!
This place is huge, a lot bigger than the one in Toronto. As with places like this, you'll find a lot of crowd on Fridays and Saturdays
Bathrooms need more attention...no toliet paper , sink clogged, paper on the floor. Food - burgers look really good...salad entrees could use more then just salad Gaming area could be better arranged
Best Place for you if you want excitement and fun in your life. Amazing place for people of different ages. You can have drinks and food while playing games. You will hear music side by side. Management and Staff are super cooperative which won't let you sad or angry here in Recroom. Everyone should give it a try and I am sure that you will not regret.
MARCH 18TH 2019 GRAND OPENING. cant wait to have VR in mississauga finally. Good location close to transit. Cant wait to try the menu.
It was my second time at The Rec Room since April. The games are fine to play but I ate there the other day and the food isn't anything spectacular, it is very over prized.
Thee games were nice and staff was really nice too, i just disliked the wait for the food and drinks we had ordered
Amazing place for adult and child to enjoy your time, I wish if there is some promotion to have more credit for Less money
Reasonably good food. A bit expensive.
Rec Room was fun! Really nice social place for young adults to drink, listen good music and play some games. The food was ok. Wish they had more options when it came to their menu. The food is a little too pricey for what they offer though, I must say. Overall experience tho was good.
Really nice place, amazing food, however customer service is not good except for this guy's at the bar. Girls at the entrance are nasty, not helpful at all and make you feel everything but definitely not Wellcome. Our Valentine's Day almost ruined by this girls.
Pros: Big space, good menu, nice arcade, interesting dance floor, axe throwing Cons: Kinda crowded, not enough seats, lines for games, slowish service Would probably go here on a Thursday night to avoid crowds.
Great place for friends to have fun! You get food, drinks, dancing space and tons of arcade games! Also has Axe throwing, bowling, pool and table tennis. What more do you want. Staff is friendly and also the place is clean. You can expect a long waiting time at the coat check, thats the only minus point of all. Good for a group event or a reunion, as it caters to mostly every personality. 4-5 hours at this place is less. Go for a full day LOL
Check your bill, 6 of us were overcharged. Our waiter was rude and unhelpful, did not check up on us. Were left with no water for close to 30 minutes. Food was average, probably not worth the cost and definitely better spent at a local business although it is convenient as the arcades right there. The atmosphere is nice and the drinks we had were pretty good.
Disorganized and very slow service. We ordered 4 dishes and 2 pints of beer. Restaurant wasn't even busy but only 1 server was taking care of the whole restaurant it seemed. My kids werent served for a glass of water for 30 min and the food never arrived for 45min. We paid for drinks and left then went to Jack Astors instead.
I've been here numerous times. Each time hoping it would get better. Gave them the benefit of the doubt since they were new the first few times. It's been a year or so since they opened, they still struggle with customer service. Wrong orders taken, no drink refill inquiries, always takes a long time to get us our orders. My 5 yr old daughters order for ice cream took 25 mins to get to her with two reminders to two different hosts. Will only come back here for the arcades with my kids. The restaurant and bar have so much to improve on.
My husband and I came to the rec room on Saturday April 6 2019 to have a fun date night where we could eat and enjoy games. We arrived shortly after 6:00 pm. There website says they allow walk-ins for dining and the games. When we entered this place we were told right away that we could not eat here due to the high volume of parties they are expecting. I mentioned to them about what their website said and they said they were aware of that but they said they could not have us there for a meal only the games portion. We looked around and there were so many tables empty. We were told if we wanted to wait it would be a 3 hour wait to eat. Annoyed and frustrated we walked over to the games area to get more information about the cost. We ended up leaving as we were hungry and thought we were going to be able to eat before we played any games. So we left very disappointed. We went to another restaurant in Square One. We walked back through the rec room to get back to our car. By this time it was 8:00 pm and there were tables empty in the restaurant area of this place.
I love going to the Rec Rooms with friends and family. Lots of games and fun to catch. Nice place all time...
Ok food. Slow service. Ok games. Lots of kids. Maybe it's just too early to judge.
Had dinner at the bar.the food was ok the drinks excellent but the service was the worst part of that night...you have to wait very long akwards minutes before they get your attention. If it is busy i will get that but it was a dead night.
Love the pizza and chicken wings... service is really good too..
Please Add More Retro Games!!! And More Pin Ball Machines!!!
Was disappointed in their service and quality of food. Best bet to only order appetizers. Main course was not good, infact my husband was feeling sick after having the salmon.
Do not go to the void. Everyone blocked you from entering rooms. If I payed for a nice experience then why the hell are they telling me I cant go where the game wants me to go. The kept blocking me and putting there hands on me. They don't know how to treat a customer.
Nice spot to go spend some time playing games It is quite pricey and gets boring quick. The only good thing about this place was the bar but at times they were out of a lot of items/drinks and took a while to serve you (even when it was not busy)
We were seated around 9:15 on a Tuesday night. The hostess set our table up but did not wipe it down from the previous guests so there were crumbs and wet spots all over the table. We were given the late night and drink menu but not the full menu to order from and had to grab it ourselves from a different table. Once we were ready to order we waited patiently for a server - any server - to come take our order. I set a timer and after 20 minutes, the bartender saw that we were waiting quite a while and decided to serve us instead. As I am writing this review, it is now 10:00PM and our drinks just arrived. Hopefully our food comes soon because we’ve almost been here for a full hour with little to no service. It seems like they may be understaffed but there are at MOST 8 tables being served out of their whole restaurant. There is also nobody servicing the game card kiosk, nobody at the bowling kiosk, nobody servicing the bar near the games and not to mention the hostess is chatting up with her friend at the front. Super disappointing service, probably won’t come back to Mississauga Rec Room. Toronto location was MUCH better.
Always a great spot to go, great systems in place for Covid-19. I
This is is really good place it has really good food and games
Our server, Cassie, was so attentive and genuine. We had the "hit off the grill" dishes (steak and chicken)... the meat was cooked properly, nice grill marks and the potatoes, omg! So good.
We had our son’s birthday here about a year ago (spent $$ and it was okay. Didn’t expect much as it’s a new Place (at the time). Time and time again, my friends and business associates had taken clients and staff but the feedback had been consistent. Poor service, poor host, poor quality of food. Just poor! Recently I took my kids and their cousins (ages 6-10 and parents). I also like to Experience things myelf vs hearing from Others. So with no plans just something for the kids to do and enjoy. We arrive at 4:30pm, the place was dead, host tells us 25 mins. After 1 hour (we’re okay) with waiting as kids were entertained with over an hour of games (free as I have lots of credits). When I went to the host (2 of them) told me it’s going to be 1.5 hrs or more but they can’t promise, no one ask for a promise, just a realistic time frame not umm 1.5 hrs or more...wow?!? After speaking to the GM and also the store manager we got our table BUT we won’t be back nor referrals...the staff here are generally pretty miserable to say the least... @Ellis Jacob please take note, try this place out. The food was very salty (safe bet pizzas) no fries or wings as the salt in it was unbeatable (we didn’t complain). While eating we had food sent over to our table that we didn’t order (the poor servers who came over several times gave us a tiring look, not his fault as he’s carry food to the wrong table, and the utensil aren’t light and very bulky). We notice a sense of gossipy host/waitress environment. Seems like each staff that came over to the host. She tells them the story of any clients who had a bad experience with her. It’s just poisonous. The host is the start and end of the customer experience, she/he should own it not poison it.
Very noisy environment makes it better for nights out with friends or colleagues. Good food at a very high price point. Good for team building and offers a wide variety of activities. Overall great for fun events but I would avoid for intimate or business events.
Nice entertainment, bowling , pub, value for money must go with kids , families, friends, well done
1. Overpriced food, games. 2. The games besides a few are just boring . 3. The layout of the games downstairs is horrible. It feels crammed and if it’s busy people are waiting in lines to play games and you can barely walk by.
Disappointed. I work at Bell and am a new employee, I frequently run over to the Rec Room to use their washroom, as it’s close. Today I was yelled at in the middle of the arcade room and told I was not aloud to use their washrooms? I was pin pointed for putting advertisements in their washroom, in which I haven’t. If there is an issue, be mature and pick it up with a manager to resolve whatever issue there may be, don’t yell at someone in front of a crowd with family’s and children. Completely uncalled for. Being someone who is also a regular customer of the Rec Room this kind of action was unnecessary.
This is a poorly executed space. Part bar, part dinner, part games. Screen viewing is okay. I think they are trying to be cater to everyones preferences but it just makes the space not desirable in general for what you are there for. In summary. Jack of all trades, master of none!
So many games to enjoy. Almost forgot to keep track on time
Still waiting for our dinner to arrive. Table maintenance is very poor. I understand if a restaurant is understaffed but at least have the managers on the floor checking in on everything. We only got to see a manager when one person from our party went to the host stand at the front. We werent even told when there was no pickles for a caesar we had to ask so we dont know if that drink would have been delivered otherwise.
Lots of games. More for people who really are in to gaming. Not for me. The only thing that I liked was the bowling. It was very noisy as well. I guess mode from the game machines and young people having fun
I really enjoy the rec room. I am looking forward to getting back to normal and winning tickets and having fun there. The food and drinks are great too!
wow what a place they have the most amazing selection of arcades and a huge bar a big stage lots of events and it's located right inside of a square one shopping center if you want to go and party have a good time it's good for all ages they even have bowling there the food looks great I highly recommend it they have another location also downtown so if they have more than one location you know they're doing something right and people are enjoying themselves highly recommended.
Was good not a large variety of games to get coupons and a few games where not working there are alot of arcade type games. I think compared to downtown there are more games downtown to get tickets. And my card I got downtown didn't work had to get a new card.
Decent chuck e cheese imitation. Loads of great prizes including an xbox. But no option to pay for tickets your missing. Also unlike chuck e tickets are loaded on to your card. Which is nice.
I celebrated my birthday here did axe throwing, bowling, arcade games, and pool which was $3 you have to pay separately for that and the axe throwing. They have ping pong and vintage games like pinball which brings back nostalgic classic's. I'd see it as more a place to do drinks and share apps with friends. I had the Peach Don't My Vibe $9 gamer band broke shortly after purchasing though. The bowling was $7 and $4 for the shoe rental you get 10 x to bowl per person. For axe throwing and game credits of 200 it was $45 VR is $34. My only issue is the staff are kind of lacking people skills and some very uninterested to deal with you. One game ate our credits and was broken so had to get someone to come fix it then go to the front desk. The security is is unnecessarily invasive twice they hassled me once to check my backpack and the other to see my tag. Just found the pool tables are in an off spot others constantly getting in your way. Donuts are bomb thanks to manager for giving them on the house! Update been again for the Manny P fight with my sis decent night got a pizza not so yum but the meat poutine so worth it and Dj was fire much improved!
It's a fun arcade to go for a date or with friends It isn't cheap at all and it gets very crowded making it lose its appeal as you're waiting for machines to open up
Went there for the arcade games, with my kids. It was fun :) would appreciate some beat 'em up's though, as an old school guys.
This is the ultimate adult playground, well actually young people can go too. The atmosphere was electrifying. Great selection of arcade games. My favorite was the giant flappy bird. Food selection was ok, pub style foods and some fast foods. Great place to hang out with friends or just go alone to release stress.
Service was so awful and Pizza we got was all burned. I am not sure why a service need to take almost an hour till you get it. The only good thing I can say is the arcade games which my kid likes and the place itself looks great.
Terrible service. Place wasn't over half full but supposedly the kitchen was rammed and that's why it was so slow. Could physically see some kitchen staff standing around idle. One dish was missed at our table for a child which took an extra 15 min wait. Would not return.
Loved the variety in games and activities. Food was alright, not bad. Had a great time bonding with my team.
Too packed imo. Went in winter, really hot inside. Overall not bad.
Worst place to go do not waste your time or money came for a birthday dinner after shopping the woman at the mall entrance told us we were at the wrong entrance so walked to the front and the woman st counter sent us to the back the waitress there then had to bring us all the way to back again to tslk to counter help to get seated we were then seated all the way st the back near kitchen I asked if we could be placed near window instead and she said no they were all reserved When I was placing my order I asked the waitress if the salad I ordered came with any sides...she rudely asked what do you mean I said I noticed the other waitress walked by with dome pita does my salad come with anything she sgain rudely snapped no its a bowl. No offer of anything else when my salad came...it wasn't a bowl...it was a plate !! Noticed the the fire oven they advertise for pizza is actually gas not wood burning In the middle of our meal our waitress decides to remove the table joined to ours. No explanation just two servers removing plates and then table they could have easily removed the table behind us as no one was eating there by the way the window seat is still empty. The waitress never came to see if we wanted drinks or coffee or dessert ...which we did she came to us with bill and said take your time ...but then came back a minute later to settle Poor service worst staff This place needs to do something quickly or they will be out of business and what is with the security guards by the main doors????
Fun games good prizes
I think this place is amazing, all-in-one place! It’s very sad and bad that I can’t tell the same about service and most of the staff, totally opposite. Even my worst experience with a security guard and first time feeling racism from someone (same guy, already reported) what a shame.
I went to this place with so many expectations but everything was average there. First, there was no one to provide us with the table. Then a girl came and asked for the booking. I told her that we didn't book the table so she acted that the whole restaurant is full but there were hardly 2 tables which were busy. The whole restaurant was empty. We ordered some snacks and we didn't like the taste. Then we ordered pizza which was very dry and very salty. The best thing there is the gaming zone where we enjoyed ourselves a lot. They have some really good games and bowling too.
Fun games
Been going here to watch the Raps game multiple times. I’ve visited 6 times and only ONE of those 6 can I say was the service okay. And that was all draw of the luck for our table. Our last visit - we were told 30 minutes to be on the wait list and that we’d get a text. 30 minutes passed, didn’t get a text. 45 minutes - no text. Until one of the servers came up to us and asked if we were okay - since we’ve been waiting, we told her we’d like a menu since she asked. Why not? We’ve been waiting and ate literally hungry. You want our money or not?Throughout our stay thereafter, we still didn’t get a text, and even when the game was finally over, no text. I’d also like to bring to your attention that THROUGHOUT that time waiting, we COULD COUNT THERE WERE 5 tables VACANT. And at the fourth quarter, then saw a manager sit down to eat. We decided to keep our mouths shut ... UNTIL TODAY. We come in, have a reservation, and are once again given the SHITTIEST table where we can’t even watch the game. THERE’S A POST blocking the TVs and you still expect us to sit and “enjoy”? My boyfriend went to the manager (female), and was told that the good seats (SPECIFIC SEATS) have been reserved first by others. But wait up - WHEN WE RESERVED, there was no option to even reserve specific seats. SO WHERE IS THIS COMING FROM?! Also - those bar tables are OFTEN ALWAYS left vacant and we were told they’re reserved if there are bigger groups. key word: IF. Well what if it’s been an hour and no group still has come in?! Cause that’s happened in one of our visits too. WHEN WE ALSO HAD RESERVATIONS. Now, next thing you know, there are, ONCE AGAIN, multiple tables vacant, UNTIL THE END OF THE GAME. I would CONSIDER trying to be consistent with your message to your customers. ONLINE RESERVATIONS? If there are specific seats to choose - then have that option online, rather than word of mouth when the PEOPLE THAT ARE ALREADY THERE COMMITTED TO THEIR RESERVATION TIME compared to the people that don’t show up or are LATE. Other restaurants have a timeline for reservations. Like after 20 or 30 minutes - you lose it. It’s starting to sound like there’s an under the table business going on for these tables. But news flash - you’re in Mississauga where there are a LOT OF PEOPLE, where some more than others are willing to commit to their reservations. And ALSO - TEACH YOUR HOSTESSES TO BE NICE AND NOT ROLL THEIR EYES AT YOUR CUSTOMERS. This excludes Makayla who tried to actually provide a decent service to us. She offered the table next to us that was only slightly better, but we still had a post in front of us whereas the hostess that rolled her eyes and walked away saying “hold on”. Photos attached were taken that day that we didn’t get a text - and THEY STAYED VACANT. The one with the employee in it is when it was 4th quarter.
I like this location much more than dt really nice
Other than the issue I had with my tag not working on some games and some games taking the credit but game wasn't working overall I had a good time. The entertainment section could have been bigger. The place itself had a good layout and the ticket redemption was reasonably priced.
The customer service and staff at their restaurant is the worst. I would love to give them minus 5 stars but there is no option. I went their with my family, we wanted to watch the raptors game first we were told that the reservations are full but they always keep 25 per space for walking, so if we walkin they can accommodate. When we walked in on the time specified by their staff we were told no they dont have space and there is nothing as such for walkins and that what we were told is not true, the staff member who spoke to us was very rude. Anyways they told us that we can dine in for 2 hours after that we would have to leave. We agreed and when we got to the table my son saw the promotion that if you order a specific drink you get raptors towel with it. We ordered that drink (cause he wanted the towel) and never got the towel, on inquiring we were told that because I told them not to put alcohol in that drink( cause I dont drink), although they charged me the same, we cannot have that towel. Then the server told us to come later and she will it to us. (I dont know why) anyways we went shopping and when we came back to get that towel the staff member who gave us that towel started being rude and said that we cannot have that because we didnt tLe alcohol with the drink, I told her you charged me the full amount still so what difference does it make and that this is discrimination against people who dont drink alcohol and she thought that was funny and started laughing and making fun of me. I'm really sorry to say but they should train their staff better on how to deal with customers. It is very insensitive to make fun of someone cause of their preferences. Very bad experience.
I had fun there... Games are pretty cool and good vibe
I’m going to go with 3 stars today! Hopefully when we return, I can find another star or 2! Came out with the family for some food and fun last night. The place was pretty empty, yet it still took a lengthy amount of time for our service. My wife ordered a cocktail. We asked a couple times where the drink was and yet still never made it to our table until after the food was delivered and we were already eating. The food we ordered was decently portioned and the taste made up for the lack up service. After we got the bill, my wife realized that our three-year-old never got her french fries that we paid for. Another waitress brought them over right away. Then, our server forgot all about the desert our toddler was supposed to get at the end. We had to ask for that too. At this point, my wife was tired of waiting and was not interested in sitting around. I decided to wait for the sundae and again, it took another server to make that happen after 15 minutes. After speaking with a girl from the front(wish I got her name), she told me that she would speak to the manager and see if there was something they could do for the troubles. She let me know that the manager was going to provide us with some gameplay and that she would be right over. After approximately 10 minutes of waiting around at the table with my three-year-old getting impatiently rambunctious, I decided to walk to the front and wait. It wasn’t until I told the girl at the front that I was going to go downstairs and join my family that the manager finally came over to hand us the bracelets. It was a kind gesture. And possibly a little too long of a wait for it to taste good. Once we finally made it downstairs together as a family, we had quite a bit of fun. The gameplay is fairly priced and they have quite a selection of games and entertainment! There was a charity concert going on that provided some good ambience!
Really smart to have opened a place like this in square one. The space is impressive but the layout needs some tweaking. The bar POS unit failed a few times during the first Saturday night. My group along with others ended up not getting any drinks. They have the right idea. More two player and multi player games would help too. Definitely worth a visit and as they work out some pain points this place will be a hit.
This place has so much different things to do from food to arcade to bowling, it's a good spot
Great place to spend some time with younger kids as well as adults. Plenty of good games and food. Good time out. Save your tickets for larger prizes on a later visit!
Always a fin time at the REC ROOM. Even more fun for me on the nights Luke Sorensen is the DJ on deck. He knows how to give awesome jamz. Haven't met a Canadian dj who lives afrovibes like him yet
Went here last night to check out the place for the first time. I've heard a lot of hype about the dt location. The game area is hella small. Not much variety. I didn't eat here so no idea what the food and service is like. But most staff seem miserable. I would recommend making an extra 10 minute drive and going to Dave and Busters.
Worth enjoying ones time...
Fun place. Love the little bowling alley they have in there.
The place is amazing, takes you back to your childhood but staff is TERRIBLE!! Everyone(the staff) is unwilling to help which ruins the vibe of the place. Could have had so much fun only if the staff are a little bit nicer.
Just left and had to pay for my friends bills who all paid before they left. We knew they did and even though it was pretty quiet - the guy still couldn’t keep his bills in order after we switched from the bar to a table. We eventually paid because I couldn’t argue any longer even with my friends on the phone explaining that they paid at the bar before the switch. Our original bartender was awesome and a couple of the others behind the bar took good care of us - too bad the staff covering tables isn’t the same. Good food and drinks. Good atmosphere. Lots of games and live band karaoke ???? My one request is to train the staff for a busy night because this wasn’t bad - too many mistakes. Still a good time - just watch your bills.
Pretty good alternative to Dave and Buster's, in my opinion! I recently went to this location for brunch. The food was a bit pricey but the portions were huge! I had the Margherita pizza but I highly recommend the Brunch special if you do go at brunch. The place is huge and I could see it being a great spot to watch a huge sports game with some friends. There's an unexpected bowling alley, ping pong tables and new arcade games that I haven't tried before. The arcade is below whole the dining is upstairs. Worth the visit and very nice that it's not all the way downtown.
Calamari is good for finger food. Veg Pizza is not edible. Also they are short on staff. Service is delayed at large. Empty drinks are ignored for over 15 minutes.
The rec room is great for any occasion 10/10 would recommend
Lots of games Lots of fun
There were 8 of us including children so quite a few different tastes when it came to ordering our meals. It was a Monday evening the dining area was not packed but there were lots of people eating as well as at the bar. Melissa was our server and she ROCKED. It was challenging for her as there were only 3 servers (that we saw) for the whole dining area, but she got all our orders right, saw to it that we had everything we needed during the meal and checked on us constantly. The food was very good. Burgers were awesome, pizza for the kids was a hit, chicken wings, chicken club sandwich, everything was fresh and very tasty. Games were fun and all the ones I played (with and without the kids) was working properly. Good eats, good fun, great service!
We had a fun family night out. The place has lots to do and we will definitely come back. Next time we will try the food.
The arcade area was pretty small and crowded, and half the machines weren't working properly the attendants had to come and fix them The service upstairs for food was AWFUL. They were serving people food at the mezzanine area where the large TV was and the manager in the oversized suit, without telling any one, decided to stop all service: we went an asked him why we couldn’t order when someone across from us just received service and food and he had no explanation besides the fact that they were served before us so too bad. Wouldn’t go back here even if someone paid me
There needs to be more selection of Arcade games. I like the fact that they have a bowling alley. It would be nice if there were more lanes and you could use your credits instead of paying separate. It's just another Playdium ????
Decent atmosphere. You get a fitbit-like electronic wristband, which you can share across your friends to access games. There's a variety of skill, luck, and Archade games. Ping pong has a huge waitlist, but is free. Axe throwing and bowling are pretty pricey and have a pretty long wait as well. The staff were all very cheerful and helpful though
Visited for the first time and it was worth it. After 10pm(not sure though) , ID is required for entry. So many activities including games and live show. I will love to be there again
One of my favorite places in the city!
Excellent job well done for opening a place near Sq1 city centre mall. Very amazing rec room indeed. It's a shame I won't be able to be in the city any longer to enjoy myself @ The Rec Room...
The Rec Room... St. John's.... This is one of those places in this city that will make your day... The Rec room is a fun arcade with loads of games available at the tap of your credit loaded wrist band... It has a pretty good restaurant inside with a mid-tier decor and really well made meals with large portions and to top this all up you have the Cineplex next door... With a MOVIE AND DINNER PASS (IMAX MOVIE)Value of about $80 I got 2 tickets 1 appetizer and 2 entrees...
Service
Always having a good time here with all the games
Service
Fantastic place. Great staff. Very friendly and welcoming. The perfect destination for a night out. Great food, large bar and restaurant area with plenty of seating. Lot's of TV's and they offer everything from bowling to pinball to axe throwing.
Music was really loud making it difficult to hear our server ... our pizza came out burnt ...when we complained we were told that's how it is.... took forever to get cutlery etc..on a more positive note the games were good
Was a lot of fun. It felt bigger then the downtown one if you have ever been. There was two levels, the upper level was good for eating and relaxing by the stage. All the games were downstairs and had a good selection. They even have a nice bowling alley downstairs which was busy but looked like a lot of fun. I would definitely recommend for a fun night out with your friends :)
Food and service is not the greatest. Their drinks are pretty good. A pretty good place to hang out w friends. Lots of entertainment and games
The entertainment here was spot on but I will not recommend the dining experience. We took ages to be seated, the drinks took ages to arrive, the food then took ages to arrive, the bill also took ages to arrive and was probably the biggest mess I've ever seen when it comes to a bill. We had requested for a split bill, but ended up being billed as one. Something then lead to another and we were then told we could not get individual bills. The waiter/tress then had to manually calculate the details which took something upwards of 15 mins. We were even charged the 18% tip amount that is added to the bill when you have 8 people; we were 7.. When the bill was being manually calculated it was not mentioned that the 18% was already added, not knowing any better I added a 15% tip on top of that, if it had to be the other person with me who was paying, the waiter/tress would have gotten nothing, but now I feel like a fool for trying to be nice. I didn't bother arguing for what had occured as I didn't want it to sour my evening. However when we called them out on the 18% there was not so much as even an apology. I don't normally say this as people have bad days but this was just pathetic and it's very unlikely I will bother dining here again.
Games are great. From now on its the only thing I would go for. I tried the dinner part the first time and something in the food gave me crams and a very uncomfortable experience in the bathroom. Second time I went here, they switched our first server we had ask for drinks and the girl said that they were ready and she would bring them in a bit... 25 minutes later we still have no water/no other drinks. Food was okay that time. This is why I gave two stars, not much professionalism.
I usually love going to the Rec Room in Toronto, so I was excited to visit the Mississauga location. The space is a nice layout; the location does a good job with trying to keep things clean but we found that at times there were not enough lysol wipes to wipe down the games after. The reason why I give this location a 1/5 is becuase upon buying drinks at the bar, me and my group saw what looked to be a tiny cockroach crawl under the register in the basement bar. This one thing definitely ruined the rest of our experience from that point on.
Amazing atmosphere! You can grab a bite to eat, get a drink, play some games, and enjoy a night out with friends. They have virtual reality, bowling, and axe throwing. There is even a DJ on Saturday nights! It’s the full experience that any age can enjoy.
Nice place to eat and chill.. has arcade game
Just did the arcade with my daughter and we had lots of fun. Great way to pass some time. Definitely will be going again.
Went for a brunch date with my wife, food was good although the breakfast/ brunch menu did not have many options what they do have was amazing. Games were fun still have to try axe throwing and the VR we will go back.
I had a mixed type of experience at The Rec Room First of all it was closing at 6 which was so early. Secondly we had to wait for 15 mins for someone to come and bring the waiver and open the door for the Axe throwing. Side Note: The lady was very nice and guided properly on how to throw an axe and even took a video for us.
The service was absolutely terrible, it took a total of 3-3.5 hours to wait to be served, get drinks, order food, get food, and the bills even though the space was not busy and lots of staff was working. The food was too expensive for the quality and the bar/dining area seemed a little too “empty” and “too open” I won’t ever be eating here again I’d definitely have more fun at Dave and busters.
Honestly, i am not sure what happened; maybe our server was having a bad day, but that was one of the worst experiences we've ever had. Long wait time, little attention to detail, in terms of our preferences, drinks and the fact that we had a kid sitting with us without a kid menu. We had to wait for, at least 15 min for our drinks, which for an empty place is at minimum unacceptable. The icing on the cake was the food itself: overpriced and blend, no flavor, nothing special, plus a dash of spicy/pepper for someone who, highlighted a couple of times, couldn't handle spicy food. Even after complaining on the website, I didn't get my money back or even a proper apology. #fail
I like this place. The fact that is right by Square one and games for the adults is pretty good. I do wish to be little bigger. The pricing is also very fair.
This is a convenient compact place to get a medium sized company entertained. We had a lunch for 14 people, the food was average and service was on a slow side, thanks for many tv screens with various sports it was easier to wait. The games are limited although axe throwing seem to be liked by all. Overall, still good for 1-2 hours of fun.
The spot to go had a ball
The layout and games are nice but the food here is horrible. The salmon pasta was bland, with small portions. Def not worth $22. Small burgers for the price and the chicken wings were very disappointing. I would def not come back here to eat!!
Pretty fun spot. I have heard it gets pretty busy, and you have to wait in line for games - this wasn't the case for us. Axe throwing is garbage here, don't waste your money. Arcade is a fun time though
The restaurant have good food and nice drinks. A big variety of games in the arcade side. Take notes, the virtual reality is not included in the bracelet you purchase as well the bowling and the axes throwing. You will need to pay extra for those games. Other than that, you want to have a nice Friday different than the one you had last week, go at the Rec Room.
I’ve heard nothing except good things about Rec Room downtown, so was very excited for our plans tonight. Rec Room at Square One has a modern venue, decent selection of games and extensive drinks list. These are the only redeeming factors from my experience here tonight. When our party of 10 arrived for our birthday reservation, we had to wait 20 minutes for our table because “there was a mix up”. Fast forward to when our meals came out, two of our guests were without food. They had to wait until the rest of our party was 80% done their meals to get their food. Only to find out that their food was badly burned, and missing half the ingredients. Rec Room does NOT do anything for birthday celebrations - fine. But when we secretly asked to order a dessert the waitress rudely asked right in front of the birthday girl “who’s bill are you putting the dessert on”, and spoiled the surprise. This was one example of how senseless our waitress was throughout the evening (including forgetting to fill our drinks and general blasé attitude). Did I mention the nachos had what looked like Tostitos jarred cheese??? The staff managing the two front desks and games booth seemed to have a matching attitude problem. My observation of this place is that it has all the tools to be a great venue, but is staffed with people who aren’t trained well, and seem like they don’t want to be there. To me this screams mismanagement, and strongly suggest the owners find a better way. Update: I emailed over a week ago with no response. not saying I expected that but...
Visited on Friday in the evening with a group of 8. Provided free popcorn throughout, very spacious feel in the dining area. Their service was ridiculously slow. Ordered a round of drinks that took over 15 minutes to arrive, and one was missing. Had to wait 10 more minutes for the last one to arrive. After asking for our bill, it took 45 minutes for us to finalize the bill as there were multiple mistakes and each correction added on another 10 minutes. There are less games then expected as well.
Games were great, not super expensive to play. But the 2 and a half hour wait for dinner at 10 pm with many visible tables open, not acceptable.
Best arcade setup I've ever seen. We loved playing all the games and the bowling. We can't wait to come back and play some more the next time we are in town.
This place will open soon. It's going to offer full service restaurant, bar, The VOID VR, axe throwing, pool tables and gameroom. Be prepared to enjoy eats and entertainment to the fullest. Make a note on the calendar now and come by March 18, grand opening is at 4pm.
I had the WORST dining experience here. My group of seven took ages to be seated, the drinks took ages to arrive, the food then took ages to arrive. Altogether from the time we sat down to when we actually got our food, probably 1.5 hours went by. We were so eager to get back to playing the games, we were NOT in the mood to wait. There was also maybe only 4-5 full tables other than us? We had no idea why the wait time was so high. I got the mac and cheese which was a terrible dish to get for the price. It's about 16$. It was on the smallest plate, maybe only 2 cups of macaroni was used and the thinnest layer of cheese on top. For some reason in pictures the portion looked a lot bigger. And it came with a huge portion of fries, which I didn't ask for? The bill also took ages to arrive and was probably the biggest mess I've ever seen when it comes to a bill. We had requested for a split bill, but ended up being billed as one. Something then lead to another and we were then told we could not get individual bills. The waiter/tress then had to manually calculate the details which took something upwards of 15 mins. We were even charged the 18% tip amount that is added to the bill when you have 8 people; we were 7. When the bill was being manually calculated it was not mentioned that the 18% was already added, not knowing any better one of the people at our table added a 15% tip on top of that. So it was about 6$ for their $18 meal. 1/3 OF THE MEAL. When we called them out on the 18% there was not so much as even an apology. I don't normally say this as people have bad days but this was just pathetic and it's very unlikely I will bother dining here again.
First game I tried it never worked, 10 minutes to get a refund waiting for someone, next game same issues waited 20 minutes for a refund, a lady came to me and told me we could have a free meal for the problems, we go to the restaurant and were seated to be told by a rude man that was one of the mangers that it was not true, almost to say I was lying. I spent over $100 today and I will not be back for such poor service and rude people.
Awesome.
Food is consistently good but the front desk service was a train wreck. Very unorganized and it looked like only one staff member working that front desk, was both trying to find tables for guests and setting up those tables while other guests waited. This place could be so MUCH better if managed properly.
It was nice. The food was okay. I just wish we could have played and eaten at the same time - but then again, the actual game room is TINY and congested. Difficult to manoeuvre a stroller through.
Very good social distancing measures in place. Nice variety of games for all kinds of skill levels. Didnt eat there so can't comment in the food, but the gaming side was good for 3 kids.
Really terrible food, and if u own a downtown “rec room” card, u cannot use it at here, to be honest, not good
This place... ohhhh this place. Its amazing! it's like arcades from back in the day met a casino! you cannot escape the bright lights and sounds but if you're in an arcade, chances are you probably don't want to! It is suitable for all age groups and I even saw a bachelorette party walking through the crowd. The restaurant is top notch with excellent food and exceptional wait staff. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we were there but there was more than enough staff even at that slow hour. There is axe throwing and bowling which we did and was awesome fun. There is also a virtual reality yard that we didn't have time to do, but i would love to have a go at. Tons of rejuvenated classic games and others that toss you right into the future (or present, haha)Hubs and I will definitely be using this as a date spot. If you're not wore out from having a time in the Rec Room the theater is right next door. You won't be disappointed, unless you hate fun!
Went there with 2 of my friends for dinner. The food was pricey and not worth it at all. The steak was dry and unseasoned that one of my friend's kept ordering gravy on the side just to make the taste bearable. The waiter seemed so uninterested and unenthusiastic in serving us and mistakenly gave us Corona's instead of Coke (how this happened I don't know since they sound different). The waiter even argued a little saying that we told him Corona even though we said Coke. The only positives of the place is honestly just the activities you can do, but definitely not the food.
Great place but expensive
Nice place to hangout with friends. Lot of arcade games but only two ping-pong tables and two pool tables which is not sufficient at all for such big place, as you will have to wait at the table to get a turn. We had burgers and salmon and crispy chicken for dinner, the food was not up to expectations!
I had time on my lunch to go by this location. I arrived and was greeted by a host and hostess. I told them my intention was to have them host my kid's bday party with them and I asked if they would mind if I can look around to see the venue. The hostess interrupted by telling me I cannot carry outside food into the establishment. That put a sour taste in my mouth. I'm going to book Dave and Busters for my kid. Thank you staff for being so helpful.
good service , but on the second day of opening 3 of the machines had been down. not to mention the ridiculous prices for bowling & vr. yikes
Meal type
Great place with lots of options for family, couples or any event. The restaurant had good food as well and friendly staff. I had wings and they were delicious.
Exciting environment, friendly, food and drink and alcoholic beverages. Nice set up to help stop the spread of covid-19. Some games crash but never for long. Some games take your points and not given a reward, but can easily be redeemed. Food and drink and alcoholic beverages are a little on the pricy side. Highly recommend going there.
Great place to spend a night out. The food was good, not great. Our mahalo pizza was yummy and crisp. The chip stack, which sounds similar to nachos, was too messy to eat properly and had way too much cheese sauce on it which was a weird texture almost like hummus. We had a lot of fun playing arcade games! Prepare to have wait times for games since it is quite a popular spot.
Loved their pita bread with edamame hummus!! Not the best service at the arcade though..
Place is very upscale and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. I also like how they have lysol wipes and hand sanitizer everywhere and every1 had to wear a mask in the games room. The location is bless and lots of parking. Overall would definitely come back. 5/5 dont have to drive all the way to Oakville for dave n busters lol
I visited on Saturday. At first glance, it looks amazing but when you get downstairs it is SO cramped...couldn’t even play some of the games without constantly either bumping into someone or getting bumped into. Went to the bar inside the club area and the line did not move for 15 minutes, they might wanna add some more staff to keep the flow going. I also went to the line outside of the club room and it was the same. I liked the way the dining area is set up and how it connects to the lower level via stairs, didn’t see any elevators though, not sure if they have any but if they don’t that would be pretty sad seeing as Square One is an accesible friendly mall. They should at least have some escalators.. Games are great! Very up to date, loved the bowling alleys and axe throwing! Loved the bracelet concept instead of having to hold onto a card like other places. Sucks that you can’t walk through the mall to get your car. I really didn’t like the fact that they just put an R on your hand as a way of specifying that your overage anyone can take a sharpie and put an R on their hands and pretend they’re old enough to be there.
It's a fun experience, But it is very crowded and not good for those who hate that. Good game's though.
This Five Stars... Were earned thanks to one of your managers named Khang. I tried to coordinate a small corporate event but run into many runs around because it was less than 20 people. After many visits and many talks to other managers and with no one to help me... The day before the event I run into Khang, and he did such an amazing job that I no longer cared for the previous experiences. I was never looking for a deal or discounts, I was looking for some one to assure me that my request were scheduled. As I had coordinated with other Rec Rooms before. Khang brought along the games manager (female) who was very helpful as well. They both coordinated and reserved food for 15 people, bowling, axe throwing, and arcades. When I and the group I was hosting arrived the experience was beyond what I requested. And Khang made sure to make rounds to ensure all our needs were looked after. I work in customer relations and my job is to ensure customer satisfaction. My guest had a great experience and thanked me many times for the amazing event... I couldn't keep lying and invited Khang to show my guest who was truly responsible for the experience they were having. the only thing I did was pay. Thank you Khang
Fun little distraction from the mall, games were fun and wish I had time to do bowling. little guy loved it but more suited for older kids/ teens. will try axe throwing next time for sure.
Attended in the afternoon for a work function. Had lunch and did the Void Avengers game. The food was ok. Ordered a burger and fries. The burger was cold and under cooked. The game was amazing! Well worth the money! It is like you are right there! Will definately go back for the Void with the kids.
If I could give 0 stars I would. Terrible service. Staff did not pay any attention to the table. Glasses remained empty for an hour, dinner plates were never cleared from the table. Horrible experience when the restaurant was not busy
100% better than Dave and Buster's. It's cheaper, better food, better service, you can't go wrong coming for a good time. 50$ can get you a solid meal and more than an hour of games.
Great spot for friends to spend time and great food! Loved the artichoke dip!! Played some of the games downstairs and had a blast, some of the arcade prices were a little overpriced for one time interactions (ie the zombie disc game was 10 tokens for one push of a button). Otherwise, they should definitely get another Mario Kart game because we played it twice but had a massive lineup after.
Good service, nice staff, really busy on Saturday nights, but still plenty of seating. What I liked is that we weren't being pressured to buy food or drinks when we were seated in the booth. We chilled out and then later when we were hungry, we ordered a pizza and it was decent. Seems like the downstairs karaoke/stage area was turned into a club/dancing area on Saturday night. Cover was $20 to get into that area, but there isn't cover to get into the building itself. Also did bowling here with some friends over the summer, not the best "bowling" place per se, but it was enjoyable still and it was open late while Planet Bowl had already closed. Definitely seemed like the spot to be on a Saturday night and also looked like a good place to bring a date.
I invited my clients here last night and they really liked the food and the atmosphere We ordered their burger, nachos, wings and fries with drinks all food was really good and the service was awesome We are definitely going back
Over price, rejects from Ciniplex arcade. But fun place for family in the afternoon, not after hours
Trash experience while watching the game. Not sure why my friends and I were seated and ignored for over 45 mins. No server came.. Like ever. And when we finally spoke to the manager, we were told "well, sometimes people call in sick so.....". Food items that were ordered werent good, and of course that came with a wait. What's crazy is.. Although there was a game, it was not busy.. Certainly not busy enough to justify every single table around us being served, even those that came after... and attended to while being ignored. Definitely wouldn't come back to this location for drinks or food.
Great place to spend time at Tons of arcade games Have a bowling alley as well but there is a long wait if you walk in make sure to make reservations if you do not want to wait. Even if you have to wait you can spend time on the arcade games or ace throwing. They have dining available as well.
We had such a good time. social distancing was not an issue the staff was great food at the pub was awesome loved the Jamaican burger. Kids had a blast and the gift store had great guidelines not to touch everything.
There was some classic arcade games and other newer games like flappy bird or piano keys, which were great. But there are usually quite a few people there so there were small lines for most games
SO. MUCH. FUN!!! Great for all ages.
Few games and your Rec Room account cant be used across the only two locations in the GTA. Pick one and spend your time there or dont and go to Dave and Busters. Much better experience at Dave and Busters.
Fantastic food, great service, and lots of fun things to do! The staff are super friendly aswell. Would definitely recommend!
I did not have an option to give them a Zero unfortunately had no choice but to give them a 1 star. Their service was sloppy and extremely slow. When we finally received our drinks all 3 glasses, the drinks came in were dirty on the inside & out. When the manager finally came to our table he seemed clueless, and senseless when we explained the situation. (no idea how this guy was even a manager) The popcorn and food they brought was cold. We ended up leaving. Would never go back, that was the first time we went there and and the last. Would not recommend this place.
Bet you cant beat my highscore at the big packman machine. Decent nachos.
I went here for my birthday, entered through the mall entrance and the 2 hostesses didn't want to seat us so they told us to go to the front of the restraunt to get seated. We sat at the table for about 15 minutes until finally someone asked if we have been waited on. The answer was no so she offered to take our drink order and said our waiter was busy although it was not busy. She came back a few minutes later to let us know that she will be out waitress. The food was good but nothing special. Afterwards we went to play games and the lineup is shared with coat check. It was busy and a 2nd girl came to help out the other. Everyone could see them in the back coat room just chatting away, slowly doing their jobs. My boyfriend had time to go outside to the car and come back, take my place in line while I went downstairs to purchase a game card. That was how long the service took to finally get a card, 20 minutes. The games are ok, but not exciting enough to even want to spend all the credits on the card. I got bored so we left. And I was shocked to see how many were out of order. Overall the service was bad, food nothing special, and the games mediocre.
Staff was super rude for no reason. I’m normally very easy going and almost never have issues with staff, but experienced the worst service here.
Kinda slow service even though not busy. Very few options for low carb/gluten free. No flexibility with menu even if you pay extra. I.e. vegetables for dipping instead of pita or tortilla chip.
Amazing place so much fun
Please eat a meal before you come here to eat, because you don't know how long it will take before you see what you ordered. I ordered the 8 OZ. flat iron steak with fries and smashed potatoes. The steak was cut into pieces and I can bet my life that it will not add upto 8 oz. I have eaten steaks before and I know this is not a steak place, but if you are going to serve something like this then it is better not to have that on the menu. The smashed potatoes are hard enough to smash a few windows. Fries are salty. Overall a rec experience...
Terrible pricing and service. Will amend my review when they explain why drinks are 17$ each
If you're familiar with Dave & Buster's, then you won't be too out of sorts visiting The Rec Room. At its core, the same basic concept applies: games and food, with the possibility of ordering alcohol if you have adults in your party. The experiences available, however, are where Rec Room sets itself apart. They have unique shows in their theatre, a small bowling alley, and of course, axe throwing. I would also say that their layout is more conducive to bouncing between gaming and eating, as their dining area isn't too closed off. As for the food, we had a large group so we were able to secure a prix fixe menu that offered several rounds each of a giant pretzel, Margherita pizza, calamari, and Buffalo wings. All of the food was quite tasty and satisfying.
Pretty cool place to hangout. My friends and I mainly came here to play pool and ping pong. Only 2 of each table available at this location. Also got very busy, though it was a Friday night, so that would explain that. There was a lot go do that interested me that I did not get to do (i.e., axe throwing, group VR), so I will have to come back another time to try out everything else. The arcade was just as I expected from places like this, nothing out of the ordinary in that regard.
Over priced robotic and soulless barn of noise.
Loved it. There are a lot of games for everybody to enjoy. The virtual reality game is amazing. We did western one.
Amazing and highly entertaining place for dates, social events or just a simple night out.
Average food, a bit crowded, not a had place to spend some time, good idea, staff are not the friendliest or they look overworked.
Oud Perfume Ruqayya was here we enjoy all the games payed for. Wish to come back again
I wouldn't bother with this place. Once we were seated, it took forever to get served. Once the food arrived (both my wife and I had the AAA burger) it was cold, the patty was tiny, the meat was also dried up, the bun was cold, WAY too much guacamole... and the fries tasted like they were left under a heat lamp for a few hours. Quite disappointed with the experience.
We were in Rec Room at the St. John’s location on October 10, 2021 at around 8:30. The manager and another guy was there and they were rude and disrespecting. We were four friends and we were Bowling which we started at 9:30. At first we don’t have our mask on because no one in bowling area has masks on so we thought we can remove ours as well. Then the guy came to us and ask us to wear mask and we properly wear the mask. Then one of my friend was bowling so he remove the mask for a minute to bowl and the other guy came back shouting at us. There were the group of ten people, bowling before us and none of them were wearing any mask and no one forced them out. But they forced us out. You have the camera which you can check and see that people before us weren’t wearing masks and no one stopped them for playing. The other guy was very rude and treated us like we are his servants. This is the outrageous customer service. They forced us out after just 15 minutes and then refused to refund the credits which we used for bowling. They even called security on us because we were demanding refund. Worst customer service
Great atmosphere and excellent service. The food was great, had lots of laughs playing the games and will be going back again!
(I'm assuming because of Covid) this place has hardly anything to do. One of the bars closes at 4:30 pm . . . and the other is only by reservation. The arcade is open, but no staff around to help with the other activities like the axe throwing. Staff are friendly but it's like no one is communicating with eachother.
Lots of fun
Didn't eat on this visit. The VR was good, the backpack unit works well compared to other systems that I have used. The games are a bit limited, and hopefully more will be added. The price of the VR is a bit high, but not out of bounds for VR experiences. The arcade game selection is a little limited in my opinion, but that is personal opinion. Service was great. Didn't try bowling or Ax throwing on this visit.
Service was non existent, told to wait an hour for a table when there were over 20 tables open. They wanted curling on TV instead of college football which is odd.
First, the restaurant bar is extremely cheap. Weove its avocado hamburger, nachos and my son ❤ its ????. Additional, we didn't have enough time to enjoy the rec room. Many things to do and play. My 5 year son love it and my 68 year's mom too. I will come back for sure.
Racist people. Don’t visit this place ever , no respect for customers.Such a rude manager’s there .
It as a good time....there is a ton of stuff to do........but the food was sub-par and not worth the cost ;and you need an ATM strapped to your back for the rest of it...will be a once every couple of months type thing for me.
Very poor service. Waited upwards of 15 minutes for our server to arrive and had to ask who our server was. Waited at coat check, which was completely abandoned, for another 10 minutes and asked the security staff to assist us. No one was at the front desk to help, and when they did come, they were totally unbothered by the fact that we were waiting and casually strolled over. There were about 10 of us just waiting for our jackets. Would not recommend.
Always love the rec room, tons of fun and great food!
Just plain good family fun. A bit on the pricey side.
One of my son's favourite game. First time there and we loved it!!
Was our first time here were hoping to have a bite and enjoy some games... waited 15 minutes for a table (not a problem, it was kinda busy) but when we were finally seated nobody came by for 20 minutes... several staff walked by, I had even tried to flag one down for some drinks...no luck so we gave up and left... headed over to Moxies instead.
The arcade area/service is great. However, the restaurant is poorly managed and the food could be of better quality for its price.
The pretzels are godlike. Reminiscent of the pretzels from colossus around 1999, which are very hard to come close to in terms of quality. Games are better than other arcades. Overall very enjoyable.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE SERVICE. Forget this place!!! Came on a Wednesday night where a raptors game was playing. My party and I made reservations 5 days prior to land a table and had no issues. Upon arrival at the time of our booking, there was one wait staff talking to a couple. Another one shows up and just stands there ignoring us and soon a line builds up behind us. A man buds the line and starts to talk to her and completely uninterested. we waited 20mins for our table to set up. My party (10ppl total) stood waiting without a clue what was going on as there was no communication between the hostess and us. We stood waiting some more to see them finally push our tables together and place plates and utensils onto a table (not even arranged just stacked) with a reservation sign, as if it was "already" set up prior to our arrival. The hostess working that night weren't very helpful in informing us the situation at all. Once seated, we had water jugs given to us but no cups - and had to wait a good 10mins for them. Once they arrived, we had to pour our water ourselves. Next, we had to go across the dining area to find a waitress to take our orders. Food took forever to get to the table and had my party and I all hangry. We never gotten a thank you or a smile during our time at Rec Room. It sucks that the gratitude was automatically added to the bill because I would have never tipped for the horrible service I have received today. Overall, don't come to eat. It's absolutely understaffed and the food wasn't the greatest either. Just avoid it all.
It's always fun to go here. There are so many options and games for everyone. It's also not very expensive for a night out with friends, although the bowling pricing is way more than other places. But where else would you find everything under one roof. If arcade games is not your cup of tea, there is a dance floor and DJ Friday nights. The crowd is amazing and music is great. The food and drinks are decent enough. It's definitely worth a try if u r out of ideas to hangout.
Amazing. First time at this establishment. Food and drinks are well priced. The food is absolutely amazing, not a long wait time either. Our waitress was Amazing, I'll just call her "O" she was super attentive to our kids. She always made sure our needs were taken care of and super friendly. I highly recommend this place. If you are looking to take someone out on a first date, or a 10th year anniversary, this is the foot for you. If I could give 10 stars I would.
Entered on Dec 7 at 930pm and watched the two hostesses chat with each other in front of my face instead of greeting me and finding out if I have a reservation. It was almost comical and a how to book on how NOT to start off a restaurant experience lol. After about 5 mins of chatting, one of them finally acknowledged us. Then it took 45 mins to get a drink (we did have a reso). AVOID this place! The staff there clearly dont care about the customer experience.
Went there last night for my suprise birthday celebration. I ordered Caesar and the waitress comes back saying they ran out of tomato juice so I have to order something else. On a Saturday night you ran out of Tomato juice?! And Shoppers is 2mins from the Rec Room entrance! Then she brought my girlfriends' drinks and when they ordered for a straw the waitress seemed suprised at us ordering a straw. Both the drinks had ice all the way to the top so its common sense to provide straws, wouldn't you think??? Then, the waitress came to ask my friend "I only saw #1 candle, whose turning 1 yr old?" And my friend had to whisper to her saying "no there's #3 candle in the bag I gave you, its 31st bday not 1st"-way to have the bday girl suspect something was up! We ordered wings and there was no wet tissue provided. You're a pretty niche bar serving expensive drinks and foods, the least you can do is provide customers with wet tissues for people ordering wings. If basic bars out there can do it, you can too! And if you have limited selection of drinks (unlike Dave&Busters), then you cannot run out of Tomato juice on a Saturday night!
BUSY eats and entertainment Place at SQ1. Nice staff...need to hire More Bus transhelp to clear tables of used dishes and stuff.
A really fun place. I met up with a bunch of co-workers for a night out. There were 10 of us. It would have been really nice if our waters and alcoholic beverages were topped up more frequently. Felt a little ignored by the servers considering how big our party was they were only around maybe 3 times. My friend sitting beside me asked for a diet coke and they didn't bring it at all. The food was okay. The servers didn't understand that we wanted 2 of each of the apps we ordered. Since there were 10 of us, we wanted 1 of each of the apps on both ends of the table so no one missed out. Our boss was paying so it wasn't a big deal. Oh well, their loss. It was fun afterward, we went downstairs and played a bunch of games. A lot of the games were not working. The lady at coat check was unpleasant.
I wish I could give this place no stars. Do not waste your money here. The food is awful. Plain & cold.. calamari was over cooked and over breaded. The service is either terrible or good. Depending how lucky you get with the waiter/waitress. The bills are confusing. The manager Anthony and waitress Rachel were the only helpful people here. Oh, and they still use plastic straws. Overall, just go here to play games. That’s it.
Great place to be with friends. Clean atmosphere. Friendly staff. Washrooms clean. Lots of Games down stairs, didn't play at all on my visit except for pool which is upstairs. Food was great. They do have from Steak to Pizza.....lots to choose from. Anyone that wants to have some company get together should consider this place, or even if you are juts meeting up with friends. Its indoor, stylish desgined and comfortable. Pictures are attached. Enjoy your night
Very good time with friends and many different games for all ages
I never write reviews but had to write one after my recent visit. We've all had bad service had some point or another but was never compelled to go online and talk about my experience ever. My complaint is entirely staff based (Some food related). The three female hostess's at the front are working in the wrong industry. They have zero costumer skills, no smile and no enthusiasm for the job. The whole time I was trying to get a table for a large party they made me feel like I was doing them a disservice and that it was such an inconvenience for them to have us at their establishment. I get that this place is going to be busy regardless, but a smile and some patience goes a long way as this is the first point of contact. Then when we finally were seated, the waiter forgot a pint glass, no problem, I'll just ask at the bar. The tattooed, reddish haired bartender made me wait a few minutes with zero enthusiasm even though the glasses were right in front of her and she could have just handed it to me. Everyone just seems unhappy here, no smile, and everything in this establishment seems like a chore. I've never been to an establishment before that collectively just were genuinely just resentful. The whole system of this place is flawed, while we are waiting for tables you can see entire sections just empty for long periods of time. Even asking general questions to staff walking by are just not interested in hospitality. I'm not sure if this is just bad management that trickles down to the staff. Lastly, After waiting 2 and a half hours for a table and 3 hours for food (which I don't mind, I understand it is a busy place on a weekend), I ordered the roasted chicken, and It was just a boiled piece of meat that was left out to dry. If you want to come here, come here for the games and entertainment and have a drink, but would not recommend for large parties or dining.
I didn't even get to experience this place before they totally turned me off. I wanted to spend my birthday there and have been planning it for a month. As directed by their staff, I was not able to make a reservations until 2 weeks before the date of my party. I called exactly 2 weeks before, and was told that I would receive a call back about my party of 20 at 7pm. When they called back hours later, they said that unfortunately there are 4 other parties of 20 people already booked, and that they wouldn't be able to accommodate my party. This is confusing considering I was not allowed to make a reservation until today, so I asked how 4 other parties already had taken the slots? I was informed it was some sort of sales promo booking, not a reservation. Why would they not leave space available for people who want to book something for themselves? Of course they favour sales bookings because they make commission off of them. On top of this, the associate on the phone sounded less than interested in speaking with me, and their poor attempt of an apology for the inconvenience was pathetic. After expressing my displeasure, I was offered a 5pm time slot. After declining (this might be too early for my party), I called the Toronto location to see if I had any luck. MUCH different attitude from this associate. She was very kind, explaining everything to me and asking if I had any questions. I made a reservation and asked my group if they would be willing to trek to Toronto for the event. While waiting for a response, I called the Square one location back and asked to take the 5pm reservation, just in case that would have been preferred. it had only been 20 minutes from the time they had previously called me. After being put on hold, a rude associate told me that the 5pm was no longer available, and that it was a misunderstanding to offer it in the first place. This is absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. Talk about making people feel unwanted at your venue.
The food is excellent and the sound and lighting guy, Caleb, does a great job.
Half the machines were out of service
Super slow service to order food, food delivery and the bill. Did I mention super slow and there was no one in the resto area, especially the servers or wait staff. Also when you wait as long as you can possibly imagine, be prepared to wait longer...P.S. Incredibly slow.
I've never won enough points to get more than a keychain but that won't stop me from going back! Go with friends or go on a date. I love how massive this location is compared to the one downtown.
Had a birthday party here and sat for 4 hours trying to get our food. Drinks were being sent to our table that was not ours. No service for hours. Terrible service and staff. Will never come back or recommend this place
Nice venue! Typical arcade though, less games then D&Bs. Be prepared to wait in lines for everything on the weekend, they are also short staff it seems. Drinks and food are good. Prices for games and other actives are way over priced. 70$ plus tax for bowling and they aren't a bowling venue! Longs waits will be their downfall.
Well... Where to begin. The positives: - good ambience - great variety in activities (would love to have tried axe throwing) - crispy tofu bowl was delicious ... Negatives: - service was terrible. Really terrible. - food was terrible; dry, overcooked, super salty, overall unpalatable (other than what I mentioned above) - things are overpriced (especially games, and prizes are overvalued for what you can get for tickets) The service needs special mention here. The people themselves were quite nice, but poorly trained/managed. We had multiple drink and food orders incorrect, multiple instances of the wrong meal being delivered to table way ahead or behind others, and multiple instances of plates being stacked up waiting to be taken away. Staff actually argued with us when our incorrect order came! Not to mention water never getting refilled, and staff just generally not doing a bare minimum of what they're supposed to do. Then at coat check at the end of the night we had to flag someone down three times (waiting ~5 minutes between flags) before we went into the coat room ourselves to get our things because we couldn't wait any longer. All this was on a Tuesday when it wasn't even very busy. Overall sorely disappointed. If not for my experience being paid for, I would have given 1 star for wasting my own money.
Tired the Ping Pong and the paddles are nothing but pure wood with torn rubber. Its disgusting to charge 40 Credits(~10$) for half an hour of ping pong when you cannot even provide proper paddles and the staff was so rude on asking for replacement they said this is all we have. Pure pathetic experience.
Really good place to spend a night at, axe throwing is cheap (only 4$ for 7 axes!), And they have a ton of games and a nice bar area. I tried to do VR once with my group but we had a lot of problems trying to make it happen because the system was glitching and also the person working was not good at customer service. Then when it was decided it wouldn't work, they could not give us a refund back to our debit cards!!! They gave us a refund in cash which is quite annoying. And we waited 20 minutes just for them to figure out how to even do any refund. Kind of annoying.
The arcade itself is great but the food is absolutely awful. Tries too hard to be fancy but is generally plain or just weird and unappealing, and it's expensive. Drinks from the bar are about the same.
Tons of great video and carnival games , fun for kids and adults alike. Had a blast.
Not so much vr games. But pretty good.
Good food and ambiance. Service and kitchen still figuring things out because they're still fairly new.
Went with company event, tried the VOID for star war. It is a new and amazing experience and I personally think this VR experience is beterre than Game Time. Before going into the room, you have to wear a heavy backpack. Then you go into a room and move along based on the scenario. Total play time is around 15-20 mins. Overall, it is good experience as it gave you a scenario and allow you to move around, which make u feel immersive. However the backpack is a bit heavy make me wanna reduce my physical activity during the game and the time is a bit short. Recommend for trying if you have never been here before. As for the arcades, I found the prizes options are very limited compared to Game Time.
Hard to get a seat now a days. Had good experience in the past pre pandemic.
My son loves it here. Clean during the pandemic with many wipes and hand sanitizer around the game floor and extra staff on to clean machines during the opening hours.
I went to the Rec Room on a Tuesday night, good service decent food however I have many complaints with how this place functions. They have a tone of TV’s and that night the Leafs were playing, there was an ALCS baseball game on and TFC had a big match on and they had on Friends (with no sound), Much Music and this annoying trivia game. Managers should be educated in their sports and be prioritizing that on TV. Toronto is one of the biggest markets for North American sports and if this place wants to be successful I would highly recommend to at minimum prioritize sports on the many screens available. The trivia game is good (if your in to that) but there is a stage in the back where that can be played, I could tell many people who weren’t participating in trivia didn’t want to be annoyed with some guy walking around while they have their dinner shouting out trivia questions. Please take this all as constructive criticism. Thanks
Loved coming here, the food and drinks are good portions and the games are so fun to play ! It closes earlier then expected though
From a restaurant perspective, you could go to a place with better service and better food at the same price. From an entertainment perspective, it does the job, but not as well as Playdium or Dave & Buster's. I went on a Saturday night with a group of 6. We were served pretty promptly at first, but the server seemed very disinterested in serving us. Food came out quick, but they accidentally brought two waves of food to the table beside us. They also sent out two plates about 10 minutes after the first wave of food came out. From there, we received no check ups and had to hunt down our server for our bill. I ordered the fish and chips and I was very disappointed. The batter is too thick (resembled a doughnut-type texture), the fries were not fresh and the coleslaw was bland. However, the tartar sauce had mustard seeds in it, which gave a nice contrast to the fish. The artichoke dip also had too much parmesan, which made it too salty. Disappointing first time experience. Note: I see a lot of posts about complimentary popcorn and our table never was given any.
Not as expensive as you think except if you wanna eat
Lots of games an fun but really over price
Wow. I didn't know that Square One this lit! Good wings (crazy dill dip) and drinks (try the Rec Room Mule), Karaoke with live band, arcade games, bowling. Better than D&B. Boy. I've been living in a box. Mississaugians don't have to go far to have a great night.
drove 1hr with excited kids and closed do too water issues even though it says open online. poor service.
Awsome place for kids and grownups alike! Lots of fun games and I could have a beer while my son enjoyed lemonade ????. The restaurant is good as well but the menue could use more shareable apps.
Lots of stuff to do at this place. And the play cards are actually quite affordable. The alcoholic drinks are quite expensive though and it took quite a long time to get drink service. Other than that fun place to visit!
Fairly priced games, decent entertainment, goof atmosphere just needs more floor space!
I have gone twice. Service was good both times but the food is completely hit or miss. The first time I went I ordered a steak, wanted Med. Rare and it was slightly over cooked but not terrible. The second time we went I didnt like anything it was such a disappointing experience. We started with stuffed Falafel and artichoke dip as an appetizer. Was not a fan, I ate half a Falafel and it was not good at all. My girlfriend didnt mind the Falafels too bad but didnt like the dip so ordered a different dip and got through them Theres a pizza call Nham Nham Nham I believe it's called? Dont bother ordering that it was very bland and disappointing. I had 2/6 peices and was finished with it. I'm not sure if I'll be back. Maybe one more try. It was a lot of money to throw away on disappointment.
This is an odd review as I'm giving 4 stars for the experience we had and the commendation does have to go out to one of the managers, Shazad. Otherwise, there seems to be quite a problem with some of the staff during the week as I had called a week before hoping to make reservations for both the bowling lanes and for dinner. I called at least once each day the week beforehand and each time, I went to voicemail at different intervals which makes me believe that they're either purposely not picking up, or just not there at all which are both a problem. When I finally got a hold of someone, they said that they'd get back to me and I waited a few days to no avail. We were celebrating two birthdays with a party of 13+ so reservations were pretty important. When I finally got a hold of someone, there weren't any reservations left and were told we needed a weeks notice online for the bowling lanes. It was quite a messy affair and it wasn't until we got a hold of Shazad that made this experience much more enjoyable or memorable. He helped work everything out and made sure to call back and confirm details with me. We couldn't do dinner but we did end up being able to bowl for a bit and it is quite a fun spot to be at. There are plenty of activities and you won't have a concern of being hungry or thirsty since there'll always be snacks and drinks around. The bowling is a nice touch (a tad bit pricey since it's $8/person on top of the shoe rental. A flat fee of one game would've encouraged more people to play and thus more lanes being used). We didn't have to deal with any wait staff so we can't reflect on that but my partner was trying to drop off a cake beforehand and was directed up and down the place. On top of that, the bowling lane reservations was a complete mess and although we got to play, the system for reservations should definitely be revamped. Again, a great concept and a great place to be at. If it weren't for great employees like Shazad, I'd be giving our experience 2-3 stars. Thankfully, him along with some of the more competent staff made this experience much more enjoyable and definitely gives us reason to come back for activities again!
Absolutely enjoyed my time at the Mississauga REC Room! Shout out to the manager Shay who did a tremendous job on taking care of my party. From the food to the live karaoke, there was something for everyone to enjoy! Shay was also able to seamlessly accommodate the last minute changes! I will definitely be back and highly recommend!
Not enough smiles. It didn't seem like the staff downstairs showed a fun personality. Especially since the line was long. We, the customers got annoyed and left. Money well saved. Your host in the mall entrance was the best at making me feel welcomed.
Enjoyed alot.. one of the best gaming centre in Brampton and missisauga region.. I visited here with my couisns.. my advive is buy combo credits its comparatively cheaper.. we played several games and at the end won 700 points and selected gifts of our choice .. Nice place to visit with kids and have some good time.
Arcade is fine. Very loud. Don't see why anyone would want to have dinner here. Seems like going backwards from the old restaurant that was in the mall.
Had a great time with the axe throwing and the arcade. The food was all right, wish there was a bit more variety but couldn't really complain. Had a blast when we came with some friends.
The new space enhanced the charm of square one with lots of entertainment inside. Nice place to chill and enjoy with friends.
The food was great! I got 1/4 roasted chicken with fries and a salad and it was absolutely delicious. Also, i must say the staff was super friendly and the food xame quick. I didnt get to play the wide variety of games they had but next time i most certainly will.
It's an okay, not too many games there.
It was alright. Pleasantly convenient if at square 1, but otherwise i'd go to dave and busters for more game selection (unless you're coming for axe throwing and bowling) Food was pretty alright but nit great, the shed has no seating as you're expected to eat it there while standing, so we opted for three10
Gaming is fine. Dining however was a nightmare. We had reservations at 930pm for a surprise birthday party, but didn't get seated until 1045pm (1.25 hrs later) then food didn't come til midnight. Safe to say the surprise party was ruined. It was a nightmare from beginning to end. We arrived and were told we'd be seated in 15 minutes. An hour passed and our group was aggravated. We told the MANAGER it's been an hour what's going on and he snipped back "this other group has been waiting 4 hours let me seat them first". Then why did your staff say 15 minutes when we arrived?! We would have gone to La Carnita instead. Seated at 1045pm. Waitress came by to say we were getting free apps. She bolted away before we could order our meals. Another 20 mins passed before her return. Meals appeared at midnight. The waitress never came back to settle the bills. We couldn't get her attention, we had to walk up to the bar, get in front of drink line patrons where she was serving drinks in order to pay. This was so upsetting and is officially the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Rec Room thoroughly ruined our night and our group of 13 is making sure to tell all our friends never to go there.
This place is defiantly a good place to spend your time and enjoy the arcade games. However, the food compare to the other branch was pretty bad! I ordered an ABC burger here with a side salad! I got sun-dried tomatoes in my salad which is disappointing. I got totally disappointed with this branch! Not recommend.
Just had a private company event with 20 customers last night. Terrible service...waiting 30 minutes for a drink order and nobody coming around to even ask. Not enough waiters or they're hiding in the mall....too bad great looking. Just bad service.
Great place for a date! Think of Dave and Busters but classier. You could tell they tried to curate the place so that you can try a variety of things and not just games where you can win tickets. The price for the arcade is reasonable. Other activities vary- For example, the axe throwing is probably more worth your money at an actual axe throwing place. The space is clean and well taken care of. We didn’t get any food there, but will try it another time!
I really enjoyed spending time in the Rec room. There are so many different games to explore. Loved it!
We had a fantastic time... Not super busy... Even tho some kid tried to steal my game card...he eventually gave it back as we were the only ones there..... So that was good krama I guess..... I should give it a 4 star for that reason and the fact two different games we won the 500 ticket bouns and it didn't give it too us....... Soooo that's Games I guess the house always wins...
Horrible service, the food was really bad, our drinks where warm and the staff took for ever to serve us.they took our drinks off our table while we where outside. As for the bill we waited over 20 min for our waitress to finish dancing with her coworker, never going back their again
Dinner
Great place for adult games, activities and hanging out! Favourite part is the Void!
Lunch
Wide variety of games and entertainment good for all ages. Good food and drinks, and though they were busy when we went, the staff were friendly and helpful. As far as games go, I personally reccomend Big Buck Hunter and that gold nugget claw game.
The coke is not good. Instead of fountain drinks, please provide cans instead. I can get better at hasty market at the corner of simcoe and Bremner.
Was here last weekend for a surprise birthday dinner. The guests at my table were seated at the wrong table because there was a booking with the same first name. I'm not even sure who our server was, but when I asked about a dessert being brought out i was asked if i brought my own or I'd have to pay...I said I have no problem paying I just want a happy birthday moment to happen... other tables had handfuls of staff come out to sing...but after all that...we recieved our bill....and no cake... I had to get up to remind them...and then they came out when he wasnt even at the table. I asked for a lemon with my dinner never recieved it, another guest was supposed to have lime in her drink never recieved it.... and the birthday guest ordered a MEDIUM steak and recieved a barely edible practically moo-ing raw piece of cow. 2 people at the table ordered the same steak the same way, one clearly was a little bigger of a cut, and they were clearly cooked the same amount of time, which left one raw. He ate around it and we didnt say anything because it was hard enough to get anyone's attention and didnt want to ruin the night.... I too work in the service industry and know things get busy but this venue is clearly under trained and understaffed in every category.
Such a bad experience due to worst staff . They just stopped our game because we didn’t wear the masks .They should gave us any warning before taking this step. Instead of doing this they shouted on us by stopping this .
It may have just been that 1 blonde server, but both times I went here, I left feeling glad I didn't leave a tip. Asked once {for both visits} if I wanted a refill {both times, with my glass empty} & had to get 1 of the other waiters to find her
Very nice friendly and enjoyable
The kids always have lots of fun
Food was great! And the games were fun! Fair prices. Will be going again!
Went to this place for the first time with my child....bought the 30$ gameplay card....and about 60 credits were eaten by the games and didn't allow me to play....as much as the type of games were amazing the experience was not....sucks the rec room games just stole from me and there was no workers around
honestly love this place, but their reservation system is awful. Tried to reserve 2 weeks in advance for my wife's birthday, left voice mails, and eventually got a hold of someone. Then I was told by the girl on the phone that she will take my contact info. and her manager will reach out to us, a week later and of course haven't heard from this manager. Tried calling several times today and it keeps going to voice mail. Not sure if they have staff to answer reservations, or they just don't like reservations? Will have to make other plans for 18 people within 3 days since these guys can't run a simple reservation system. On top of that, their website doesn't accept reservations for parties over 10 even though the option to choose how many people you want in the reservation goes up to 20...smh
Fun with my little girl and husband!
I was really excited to go to Rec Room but unfortunately I was very disappointed. It was a week night so it wasn’t busy. When we were seated, 15 minutes went by and no one had come over to acknowledge us. I had to get up and ask the hostess if we could get a server. Another 10 minutes went by and a server finally came over. I will say that our server was very nice, but wasn’t very attentive throughout our stay. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich with French fries. The French fries were awesome. The fried chicken sandwich was not. I honestly think the fried chicken sandwich at Wendy’s is better. We settled the bill and wanted to play some games. When we went to get credits, the girl working behind the desk was rude and unhelpful. Probably won’t go back.
The games are great and so is the food. Can't go wrong with this place.
The rainbow bowl was fresh and delicious.. the fried green beans and avocado hummus was also very tasty.
Had the "Grilled Salmon" and it was not even worth the price. Flavors didn't go well together and there was an unpleasant smell. Service was extremely slow. The Strawberry Cheesecake Sundae dessert was okay. I Will not be dinning here again for sure.
This place looked cool as hell! We came up for Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire VR experience at The Void, but had no idea how much cool stuff there was to do. They had a huge arcade, axe throwing, and a restaurant all in the complex. The VR experience is awesome. Definitely want to come back for more!
Great selection of games and the menu is decent. My only problem was the long wait time just to get a table, and the wait time to get our order taken, and the wait time to get our food. We arrived around 7pm and didn't get our food until around 9. The place was extremly busy when I went, but it looked to be short staffed. Also, a group of the staff just didnt seem to care and had a conversation instead of seating or cleaning tables. The drinks were watered down and super expensive.
The food over here is a disaster! Artichoke dip too salty, super green pizza was horrible ,ordered wings they were ok. Service is good but slow one recommendation to the owner as a foodie , change your food menu and chefs lol .The only thing that’s is good is ambience. Just come here for games and beers not for food , a big NO NO.
(Please note, I'm assuming this lack of full operation is due to the pandemic) However, they need to be more transparent on their website. There are many things that are not in operation because of Covid. But no where does it mention this. For example, one of the bars closes at 4:30 PM, so don't come here expecting to find a place to drink or have food with friends, you'll have to make a reservation well in advance. Yes the arcade is open. The some of the other games are "open" too, just no staff there to help facilitate them. So literally nothing to do except select arcade games. It really has a potential to be a fun place. But that certainly is not what our group experienced.
Great spot for birthday
It's amazing section of the square one mall. For just as low as 30 bucks you can enjoy so many games with your friends and family. There is a food section as well if you need a quick bite. Overall a great place for fun.
Came here for my cousin's birthday. Food took over 40 minutes & came out burnt. Was told there was a conference coming soon & that was why the food came out late & inedible. Manager did mildly compensate us after a 1 hour wait for food but only mildly. As a result of the long delay in food we were unable to visit the downstairs arcade due to time. We did however visit the V.R. arcade & were promised a spot in 30 minutes. Came back in 30 minutes & the clerk was nowhere to be found. Waited another 45 minutes in line only to be told that we may not get in (again due to the conference). After explaining to the clerk some of the challenges we faced so far & that it was my 16-year old cousins birthday he agreed to let us in. Spent over 2 hours for burnt food & 1 arcade game. Not impressed at all & don't think I will be back. The avenger game was fun though.
Love it
Nobody at the desk to greet us. 5 minutes later we get seated. Place is more or less empty. 15 minutes after that our server finally comes with water. After dinner, played games and had some fun. Went to coat check and had to wait 10 minutes for someone to come and look after us. Went to the front desk multiple times to request help but nobody was there either. Ended up with a line at the coat check. Half an hour total was spent waiting around for people to do their jobs. The hosting staff walked as slow as possible, hardly talked, and looked generally miserable. It was unacceptable bad service considering how empty the place was. We will not return.
Went here for my son’s 26th birthday. We did the Jumanji VR experience and it was very cool - great experience. Staff was great. We had dinner - the artichoke dip was awful - we sent it back just saying it wasn’t our thing and the waitress removed it from our bill which was very decent. The rest of our dinner was average. The thing that really ruined this experience was the bowling. They advertise on their website that it’s $8 per game - up to 6 players per lane. BUT when you get there they tell you it’s $8 PER PERSON per game. One game for the four of us with shoe rental was over $50. To bowl!!! What?!? The manager was a piece of work - zero customer service skills. It’s false advertising, poor customer service, and overall very disappointing. I doubt I will go back and other than the VR experience, it’s not worth a recommendation.
The restaurant service was very slow. Food was good though. The games were fun. Kinda pricey
Fun place been a few times! First time back since covid and they’ve added a few more fun arcade machines and upped the menu and drink menu! The credit price is comparable to that of Dave and busters but I believe slightly better! And even better bonus you can use scene points here and collect a tonne as well!! We did some games and the bowling which was fun as the lanes are well kept and looks to be brand new! The food was fun I tried the Jamaican cheeseburger and wow if you love burgers and beef pattys it’s a must try!! Will be back :) excellent staff!
This place is pretty dope! 1st of all being located at Square is super convienent. Plenty of parking and public transportation. Inside the venue is really nice, the set up is pretty spaced out and the dining area is huge. The waiters at the bar were awesome, grest energy! The arcade/gameplay area is a little smaller than expected but there is still plenty to do. I spent most of my time shooting hoops and setting records!
This is an awesome spot, for kids and adults! Great brand new arcade games, along with 10 pin bowling, axe throwing and VR. Also can't forget the great food and drinks at the restaurant. Would highly recommend!
Dave and buster's has more sqftage and better selection of games. The bracelet method for credits and tickets is better though. Axe throwing, bowling, and ping pong are different rates though. Food was alright. The coolest thing was the live band karaoke downstairs. Great entertainment.
The place itself is OK. Food service horrible.
Great games and even friendlier staff! Food tastes great and you can really spend a lot of time here!
went for the first time yesterday night and it was fun no issues anywhere from gaming to bar to axe throwing to eating 5 stars all the way... keep it up
It was an amazing experience, but it's a bit pricy. Other than that, it's a fantastic place to hang!
Very expensive place. $15.00 for a putting? No way!
Overall it great experience for friends and family, food was great especially the pizza and service is fine but it can get better, but the real experience come from the play arcade area which is pretty good size and have a variety of games but the best part is the void virtual realty experience it so epic
This place is great fun for the whole family and reasonably priced. The tickets for toys is just an added bonus that allows your child (or inner child) to actually walk away with something tangible when you are done!
The place had a. Good atmosphere but the service was slow and despite coming 1.5 hours before our VR booking we barely had time to eat. Jumanji VR was a bit underwhelming, the room itself was cool but the story line and action part disappointed.
It was fun just wished they a little more games to choose from
Drinks were great. Butchers Daughter Pizza was alright. Good selection of games to choose from. Live DJ was good. Watched the associates at the bar argue with each other throughout the night and what happened to be management too. Seemed very disorganized and unprofessional.
Sooooo much fun.
Best food in town imho
Great for drinks and games! I never ordered food here so I can’t speak on that. They seem to always give popcorn if you’re sitting in the bar area - but it’s always stale. Great atmosphere and vibe.
Need some more game machines, same machines as Dave and buster or playdium . Could definitely add some more.
Dine in
Went to supper with my child for a later supper. Not very impressed with the experience. There was no signage stating where to wait to be seated Anyhow, after were went up the stairs two people came up and asked us if we were wanting to look at the menu, so we got seated and handed menus. Wasn't very busy, the restaurant area was quite nice, not too noisy since it wasn't too busy. Speaking of not being too busy. Waitress initially seemed nice, though as our time there we weren't very impressed. For one, when she took our order she said she will bring us so e popcorn, that never happened. Getting a drink refill our glasses were empty quite a while before coming to see if we needed anything, at which we were basically done our meal. The place at this hour wasn't busy at all, and we saw many wait staff going around so they weren't short staffed. This being said, the service wasn't too great, and the meal wasn't that great. The Mac and cheese seemed reheated with fresh cheese tossed on top... Didn't see any pretzel crumbs on top though,as the menu stated. Also, my plate came with a pile of lettuce spring mix heavily drenched a a vinegrette which I tasted and wanted to spit out, it was horrible. Asked the waitress what it was and she told me it was suppose to be arugula in Sherry vinegrette and I told her it was nasty, and shod be served with bread. This wasn't on the menu for the Mac and cheese so why put it on my plate without asking?! Anyway, the visit wasn't a very good one and the environment would be a 4 or 5, the food a 1 or 2, so I give a 3 star rating.
Since when are nachos the size of pancakes
Honestly the worst service I’ve had pre or post Covid. Waited 10 minutes for a table. Not a big deal at all. Waited 35 minutes at my table and spoke to two separate people who “would get our waiter” before our drink order was taken. 1 hour 10 mins. Food is bland and not great. Server doesn’t seem to know the answer to any of our questions like “how do we buy tokens for the games”. I will never be back. Spend your money at restaurant where the food will at least be good.
Awesome place made me feel like a kid again on our work team building event. Good food and cool games.
Saturday night party of 8 and all started at the front reception. There was 5 people behind the desk and it took 5 minutes for 1 to even greet us and when she did, she said "we only have 1 iPad". We were seated at our table and ordered food and drinks. The food took quite awhile to come out (just over an hour)and when it did everyone got their mains except 1 of my friends. It took about 15 minutes to find our waitress to see what the hold up was, not alone that the waitress would disappear every so often throughout the night and I felt we had to wave her down all night. It also took a very long time to get drinks to the table as well. We even had to ask for forks and knives (thought this would be already provided on the table). The service was extremely slow and very disappointing. After looking around, our waitress seemed to be the only one in the area and she did not look happy. I slightly felt bad for her because they were very under staffed. Note to management, for a Saturday night the service should be a lot better and have the proper amount of staffing and a little more professionalism. I choose the wrong place to celebrate my birthday. Extremely disappointed and will not return.

Great food and services ..
The Rec Room is fantastic. In an evening I was reminded I'm an okay bowler, great at arcade, and terrible at axe throwing. Great place to take the family, the coworkers, friends or a date night out. There's always something to do and if you want to try something else you'll find that here too. And then there's square one for everything else.
Great staff!!! Had an issue with machine and immediately had a technician come and check out the machine and acknowledged there was an issue. Had a poutine and was really great and tasted authentic. Shared a large poutine my two friends and still didnt finish it.
Nice place for friendship and family bonding. Lots of games and fun to choose. First time I came in, the place is neat and finely set up. Lots of people? Of course...fun is where people love to go. Worth coming back! Food wise, you can eat at your heart's content! Indulge in endless pop corn!!!!
Ordered salmon and shrimp pasta with garlic cream sauce on the side, the cream sauce never came and Salmon tasted like it's gone bad and it had freezer smell. Not a good place to eat
Alway fun and good food.
My daughter and I went there. We enjoyed it. Pricey! We only used the restaurant not the gaming area but she had a birthday party there and enjoyed it.
Does not link with Toronto system so any points you have there are no good for the time being. You have to repay the $2 per card activation. Hungry? Too bad. No food until 5pm. Waste of time and money.
Terrible experience and I would never recomend to anyone. Over 20 minutes to get a table after the host told us it would be 10 minutes to clear one. After sitting at our table for another 20 minutes without any service from anyone, we almost left. Finally a server came over. Drinks took about another 15 minutes to come and food about 30 minutes to arrive. We ended up being there over an hour before food even arrived and our fries were cold. Being a holiday (family day) the host gave us grief about not having a reservation as it is a "very busy day". The restaurant was grossly understaffed and empty tables were sitting dirty around us for the duration of our meal, so they clearly would rather turn customers away. The hostess told a customer (not me) that it would be 2.5 hours for her table although I saw that there were plenty of open tables, the hostess was super snarky to her, saying that people made reservations 2 weeks in advance. If this was the case, I would suggest they hire more staff or employ them on days that are meant to be busy. Food was quite good and once we received our food our server never checked up on us for a while so we couldn't tell him about the cold fries or bad experience. Based on my experience, I would only recommend if you have a whole afternoon to wait around for someone to serve you.
Great place to go with your friends and family. There is fun for all ages! Things to do there include an arcade, pool, axe throwing, the void (An incredibly realistic vr experience), and a bowling alley. Sometimes there are special events and performers visit, and it is truly a fantastic experience. Also, if you are looking for a quick bite or meal, there is a nice small snack bar downstairs, or you can do up to the restaurant and bar upstairs. Absolutely delicious. I really hope that they open more rec rooms here in Ontario.
Great vibe.. Lots of options. Even has bowling. Certainly a great place for friends, family for both young and mature.
Rec Room is considered the answer to a true adult arcade and entertainment experience. Especially in the midst of its' neighbour, Playdium, which would quench the arcade thirst without much hesitation. While its' Toronto sister bodes better in terms of game selection, the Mississauga location serves as a decent fraction of what's possible.
Really great place. I sat at the bar for a quick beer but didn't want to leave. Definitely going back. So chill. Really welcoming.
Very cool place with axe throwing, a bowling alley, a bunch of arcade games, pool tables, and a restaurant.
Place was fun, lots to do there. However, they seemed understaffed and were slow to help me when I was in need.
Terrible experience. meet the hostess, asked for a spot in the patio, she claims the patio was full mean while 3 tables were empty. Asked about dining room, quickly says 2 1/2 hr wait. So approx 10mins elapsed as we walked around. Pass by The Rec Room again, saw the patio completely empty and a few tables empty in the dining room. I guess they dont want business.
We came for a birthday party with a bunch of kids. We got the "all you can play" for an hour which went over very well. Megan was a great help setting everything up. We would definitely do this again
It's located right inside Square One so if you're looking to drink and eat + play some arcade games in Mississauga, it's the perfect spot
Had friends come in from out of town to watch the finals. Booked my table 1 week in advanced and check out the seats I got, with two empty tables beside ours, they refused to move us. I was not given the chance to pick my table so I found it dissapointing that they were holding tables. I've been sitting here half an hour with empty tables beside me.
Been three times. Each time had an issue. This time was the least pleasant to be honest. To top it off I voiced my concern and was told I would be followed up with via email. That never came to fruition. No one ever emailed me as of yet and it has been long enough. Service is slow very slow, the food is subpar, it looks good but taste is lacking. Sides will say seasonal veggies and just be Brussel sprouts. Drink refills never happened and the free popcorn never came. Staff including a manager was fairly passive. They have alot of staff and security standing around and servers running themselves into the ground. Managers do not help clear tables or anything that I could see. Maybe they should invest in a bus person.
Lots of games, a bowling alley, VR and a restaurant. Dinner and a movie option available as well.
Overall I enjoyed our dinner experience at the Rec room 310 restaurant. The portion sizes of the food and drink were a bit uneven. Our burger was very well portioned, however the amount of mashed potatoes and vegetables received with the steak were minimal. The quality of the food was nice however. The service was on point and we had a good evening. It's more 3.7 stars but no fractional stars allowed. ????
Great for a social outting with friends, though they took an extremely long time before our waitress came to serve us. However she comped our appetizers and was very sweet and apologetic. Games are very overpriced. But an overall fun place to go.
The games were good. Nice variety, loads of choice, inclusive in the VR room. Bowling was a lot of fun as well. Restaurant needs A LOT of work. The place wasn't busy, the first woman who seated us was great, two people, menus etc. We then proceeded to wait 21mins and no one even came to our table to ask if we wanted water let along our order. Awful service and we ended up leaving and going to the mall food court.
I was the first person at the table for a dinner with 13 people. Everyone received their meal and they gave my meal to the wrong person. when order I told the server I had to leave early. Never received my meal after 10mins ppl at the table were almost done their meal.
Fun place .... nice space... more pool tables would be a very good thing
It's a great spot and always something to do in ever corner. Great expansion of the REC Room brand.
Awesome environment. Very clean and modern. Perfect for dates. The arcade has the same games as what you'd expect at Playdium or Dave and Buster's, but the setup is kind of awkward. There are a lot of tight corners and it gets packed easily.
Had a very good time with my girlfriend, all the games were working, washrooms where super clean and everything was well organized with the social distancing protocols. Worth every penny you spend in credits to play !
Very bad customer service. Very unorganized at the bowling with miscommunication issues between the staff, even amongst management, there was a group that booked the bowling lanes and because the staff did not know they put us on a waiting list. We waited over a half hour to be told we couldn’t play bowling and wasted our time.
Busy place with decent service. Nothing exceptional.
Meal type
Awesome
There is one reason only why I am not giving it a five star. I have only come here for the arcade and axe throwing, as the resto and bar are usually busy when I come. That's fine. Normal infact. This is the second time this happened, I am only restating the most recent time. My one problem is when the resto bar is not busy and I came and asked very nicely if I can have a two seater at the window. The hostess was pleasant enough to see if she can accommodate (I would assume for sure, since there were 6 empty tables of 4's and 2's), and without reservation signs. She comes back and tells me there is nothing available by the window and I can grab another table in the middle. She doesn't give me any options of going on the wait list or telling me the server will be on her rotation in 10mins. I say I will sit at the bar. 10 mins later a table of two is accommodated at the window and get sat down. I notice the hostess asked another server (who already has a section...this is not a new server) to take them. I also asked, and they didn't have a reservation. Apart from the goods drinks and the semi decent upscale food, I will never come here for food or bring any of my corporate events here due to one ruined evening. I dont care how snooty this sounds, I've gone to better and had better. I will stick to the axe throwing. UPDATE: I feel sorry for the hostesses and servers. Management doesnt take care of anything. Letting things go down the drain with serving and seating. Fix it. I heard at least 4 ppl complaining ahead of me for the same problem. And your poor hostess has to take the heat for it.
A fun place mostly for adults of age 19+. It has a sports bar vibes. The arcade place within is nice, but feels limited in veriaty of games. However, the prices for the games is reasonable. With $30 balance as their best value, giving you 200 credits when a game costs around 8. It has a bowling alley (8/person/game), throwing axe place, and billiards (but each table is paid for by round, not by time.) The food options that this place are also limited, we happened to go to it twice, and both times decided to eat somewhere else.
Nothing like a beer and video games.
After we were seated, I had to ask twice to get WATER. In the meantime, I see bunch of staff at the front just yapping. When I approached, they were not professional nor friendly. They pretty much ignored, after waiting for 5-10 min, I grabbed another staff only to find out the servers won’t be in until 5pm. WHY COULD HOSTESSES NOT INFORM US? The wait staff was working hard, except this rude one who told me she started 3 days ago and didn’t want to help nor work. Garnish was missing from my “pickled Cesar” and I had to go get it myself. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO HERE! Go to Dave and Buster’s instead!!!
Drinks are really expensive even though it's a chill environment. Don't attempt to go there drunk the security guards/ door men will send you in the other direction. They ID after 11 pm, no one under the age of 19 is allowed in the rec room after 11, even though playdium and rec bother serve drinks but at playdium they only ID at the bar. Don't see the difference.
Went for a private party, still had to stand in-line for 25 minutes to get a drink even though there was a bar for us to order at. I honestly felt bad for the bartender, it wasn’t her fault they were understaffed.
Friendly staff and endless entertainment! What's not to like.
Great place for the kids and fun for a gathering spot for friends and family.. as for these entertainment places it is pricey.. be prepared to spend $$$ if you're into these games.. Large area and clean.. parking is ample considering attached to one if the largest shopping malls around. Near public transit..
Review for the restaurant only, I did not play any games. Great place to hang out and have some fun on a Friday night. But, not a great place to eat. If you are looking for good bar food, this is not the place. We bought the cineplex dinner and a movie passes, which entitles you to 2 movie passes, 1 entree and 2 mains. You have to choose from a separate menu and there aren’t too many options. We had an extra guest so ended up ordering a little from the regular menu. The pizza was super bland. Definitely used ketchup instead of pizza sauce as it was so sweet! The crabless cakes were clearly frozen and not cooked all the way through. The fried chicken sandwich was whatever. The edamame dip was the only one that was half decent. We had to ask a few times for water and the waitress kind of forgot about table. Mind you it was a Thursday night at 6pm, so there wasn’t any rush and place was practically empty. We didn’t bother looking at the dessert menu. Overall, a very underwhelming experience at the restaurant.
The worse customer service 2 hours of dining waiting, they had a lot of tables and we want it to change it and we ask for and they said they could but we had to wait for an hour and the tables are empty , and servers are mind
We were a group of 6-8 and no one even noticed we were there. We took a seat at a large table by ourselves and after 10 minutes, no one had even come by to say hi. The least they could do is notice that a group is there, greet them, and tell them that they are busy. Nothing, even as we got up and walked out, nothing.
The food was really good and our server was super nice. We also went down to the arcade area and had a really good time. But there was this one associate who was being unnecessarily rude at the bowling counter. Apart from that we loved it.
Great day with my grandson
Terrible service while eating at the rec room last night. The waiter took over 30 minutes to take our order then it took another 45 minutes at the end just to pay our bills since she messed up our bills. She had given our bill to another table and they paid it. When she realized the mistake she made she refunded the other table but our bills were now locked on their system and she had to manually calculate our bills. People make mistakes and we were willing to accept that but she then unethically added a 18% gratuity to our party of 7 when on the rec room website this is only done for parties of 8 or more. She then failed to inform us of the included 18% gratuity and some of us still tipped her another 15% on top of that. 33% tip for subpar service! Totally ruined our dinning experience. We had a great time with the games and entertainment but this location definitely needs to improve their dinning experience. I will not be dinning here again.
Food taste was not reflective of price. Got a mac and cheese, paid an extra $3 for bacon and got 3 tiny pieces of porkette on top of a bed of noodles mixed with cream. Very bland. Arcade was 4/5 - not the best selection. The only thing saving this place is the staff was super friendly and answered any questions/requests kindly.
Playing arcade games whilst drinking beer... must I say more???
Food at the restaurant was very basic, good selection of games overall.
Went in with my dear friend who was excited about this place. I forgot my wallet but had my ID on my phone. Did not accept it despite having proof of vaccination, I’ve used my phone for ID multiple times and HAVENT been rejected, kind of silly because it’s actually against the law to reject me. I did not want to be a Karen in the area but I will indicate below proof from government website on the forms of ID that are acceptable in order to help someone avoid the same embarrassment I felt: “ You must also validate that the vaccine receipt is yours by providing identification issued by an institution or public body that includes your name and date of birth” (1/2) That means it just needs to show proof. Not physical copy. Not photo ID even. “The identification requirements are flexible, and identification is required to confirm only name of the person and date of birth – government identification can be used for this purpose but is not required.” (2/2) FLEXIBLE. They definitely could’ve allowed me access to the premises but chose to be rude and hostile. Really inconsiderate staff and this place will never see my business again. Not only am I a fully vaccinated citizen, I’m also willing to show ID and got rejected. Note that nowhere in the restaurant did it ask for PHYSICAL copy.
Great laugh at the bowling lanes, and arcade games!
The staff are great. Food is average. I wish there was more games but it is what it is. It was still a good time.
Games were great, aesthetic is good and the customer support was excellent. Only thing i didn't like though is the bowling alley, it feels empty and didn't have any vibe to it
This square one location is so much better than the downtown location in my opinion! A lot more to do, such as bowling, axe throwing, bigger restaurant but the arcade games are pretty similar. The only con i wish they fixed were that there were some broken games such as the piano tiles and photo booth that accept your credits but dont provide the full experience of the games/services. If you avoid these then youll have a great time!
Poor slow service. Snooty staff. Cold inside. Never offered us water. No ones greets or smiles. And lipstick over the glasses
Pleasantly surprised with the food, fried chicken sandwich was excellent.
My kid had a blast! Staff were friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back and Mario Kart!
Restaurant was spacious, upper floor has patio , bar and dining tables and the prize redeem room. Lots of parking ( obviously as it's square one Mississauga location, and not congested downtown Toronto ) downstairs has the arcade, meeting rooms maybe for rentals, bar and dessert items and second washroom. Service was great, food was okay ( didn't expect much from an arcade style establishment, games were on point in good condition, and modern. Lots of single, couple and quad playable games. Prize room could be better. You can keep your wristband and accumulate points. We were in the establishment for more then two hours, had Sentinel security come while we were playing ping pong and ask for ID. NONE of us had a drink in our hands and were well above 19+. Security had walked by us many times before asking. I'd definitely go back for the games only. Had 6 bone ribs, fine but a little too room temperature, heirloom salad, ( too much cilantro ) and smash fried potatoes ( yummy ) Had mini donuts with sugar and chocolate syrup and loved it. Free wifi and good music Choice.
Me and my husband went in the rec room with no mask and got kicked out it's the worst experience I've ever had me and my husband can't wear masks because of medical conditions both us our exempt but we were still kicked out Plus the girl in the front was doing contact tracing which is not aloud for privacy and safety concerns Terrible how they treat people it's sad ???? I hope people see this because this will be publsized more
Lots of fun for all ages!
It was great! And not crowded in during weekdays... pizza could be better
Great place for lunch and some games. The staff was nice and the food was good for a decent price. I recommend checking it out. I will be back.
Good food. Good place and vibe overall. Great enthusiastic waiters. I wish that service on the weekend was a bit faster but generally good service. I would definitely come here again. Loved my time here
Worst service ever! Over an hour and still no drinks brought to us. Party of 6! Pretty sad. Had a reservation and still waited 15 minutes to be seated. Zero stars for this location. Xoxo
It was awesome until I ran out of things to do... But it took a couple of long hours and after coming back on other days to reach that point... It's almost like when you get bored of that video game you've been playing for way too long
This place does not live up to the hype! Bad food, bad service, The Worse servers!! We had a party of 18 with one server. We were seated at 8:15 It took about an hour before all our drinks we ordered got to the table which by the way didn’t all come at the same time they came 4/5 at a time. If your going to here to eat ... DON’T. Food came stone cold and some food didn’t even come at all. And when we asked the server about it she was getting mad at us being snippy for no reason. And when we asked why is she talking to us the way she was, she snapped again. Management is a joke. They have no clue what’s going on there. Do not go here. It’s a waste of money. Go to Dave n Busters instead.
I had high expectations on this one but this is not even close to the one in downtown Toronto. This location is way too small to accommodate the demand in Mississauga. I wish they considered the fact that they are in Square One and it is a busy area. Do not expect to get the same quality of food here
Mario kart is amazing! Basketball is amazing too! Love the token system nice to have the tokens as a card on your wrist! Food is good! Had the pizza and it was tasty! It was a little oily though.
Was there with some friends few months ago , i had with me the card to play that i purchased from the location in toronto dt with money inside, and i wasnt able to use it even if it was the same company, was obliged to buy a new one.disappointed.
Love it here, going back for alcoholic beverages real soon. Better than the downtown location very near to me to be honest...because this location has a lot more to offer from AXE THROWING, BOWLING, POOL TABLES, KAROKE NIGHT, & MORE! The customer service is great too!
Went in for a party a few weeks ago. The food was great!!! The servers and bartenders were super attentive despite being extremy busy. Great atmosphere. Really nice spot for adults to hang out but also kid friendly. The play area downstairs is a fair size but good selection of games.
This was great, abit pricy food wise but very good
Good ambience for a night out with friends with a fun arcade. Food is also good though a tad on the pricey side. We got the green hummus and margherita pizza and I would get both again! Our waiter was awesome, funny dude who provided great service :)
Even though we had some issues with the machine at he begging, but they took cake of us. All 3 of us (Hubby and baby had a blast! We had lots of fun.
It's an amazing place. Especially the pool table.
Great fun for young and old
The games are all quite entertaining and I'm sure fun to play, but the fact that this place is open to all age groups, and that consumption of alcohol is permitted poses a future problem.
Great place to have fun but very poor service. We had a group booking but the servers are not paying attention. Even when the place was not busy, drinks took long time to arrive. Went to the bar to enquire and no one is willing to assist. When requested second time, faced with rude behaviour. Asked for the supervisor and she was so not meant for hospitality industry. If they cannot respect their patrons, they should close the business. Never ever giving our business again to The Rec Room. Either it’s the management is bad where their servers are not engaged or interested or their staff selection sucks What’s the point of good place where you spoil your evening instead of having fun. Never go there.
I took my son and his friends (7 boys in total) to celebrate his 12th birthday at the VOID followed by lunch at the REC room and gaming at the arcades. A couple of observations on the boys' VOID starwars experience: 1- for the price paid it was too short! Around 20minutes which I had expected to be 30 minutes. We had gone to DiVerge for my son's birthday last year and the experience was for a full 30 minutes which the boys felt was long enough 2- it was blurry! All 7 boys said that the image/resolution was blurry and they couldn't tell what they were shooting at! They told the attendant that it's blurry and his reply was "it doesn't matter"!! Two of the boys ended up with headaches afterwards and had a bad time at the party afterwards. This was not an issue at the DiVerge last year. The attendant should have placed the head gear properly, to say the least and should have addressed the boys'comments on resolution/blurriness 3- the boys were yelled at!!!! Again all 7 boys said that the attendant yelled at them because they were loud and excited.they said the attendant yelled at them cause they weren't following the story line!!! Seriously! These are boys playing and your employee should be trained to deal with kids as this is an all age experience as advertised!!! Totally unacceptable!! 4- photos. I was told it was not allowed to take photos. Understood. The attendant told me that photos are taken at the VOID and showed me the camera and said that I can collect the photos afterwards. When I returned to collect the boys, the attendant wasn't there and no one showed me any photos! So end result I have no photos from my son's birthday All this is totally unacceptable and I will never recommend the VOID in square one to anyone I know. Zero value for money, kids with bad experiences and untrained staff.
Needs more staff at the entertainment desk. Had to go to a different desk just to buy credits because there was no one there. They also need more staff at coat check. There was a long line just to drop off our coats and to pick them back up.
I did my birthday dinner here on December 30th. All the negative reviews about being understaffed are true. I ordered a Margherita pizza and it took more than an hour to get it. We were told if we wanted food it would be at least 40mins. My friends waited at least 30mins to get their drink. There was only one person for the entire bar. This place definitely needs more staff or at least manage the schedule in a way where there is enough staff during peak demand. Do yourself a favour an go to the downtown location.
Menu was okay, but limited. However, staff and atmosphere was family friendly. Arcade is top notch! Super fun for people of all ages. Ticket prizes are legit, not just trinkets.
I'm not totally into arcades, so all I can say about that section is that they have one. But the bar is nice. They have 2 pool tables that run for $3 a game. Prices are not bad! They run events like trivia night and such. It's honestly a good place to be.
Poor service. Table of 30+ had 2 servers. Took 1.5hours to get a drink to the table. And much much longer for food. Server won't acknowledge you at the main bar upstairs. The other server didn't even pour a Guinness the right way. All in all won't be back. Downtown Toronto was a great location. Sq1 doesn't live up.
Very under staffed to a point where you wonder how the owner would even accept it. Completely unprofessional! We came here yesterday and the front desk had lines of people in front of it yet no staff! Completely empty! One girl would come from the back desk and help a few people at a time every half hour and then she would leave again to work the back desk (which was sort of empty to be honest). There was one waiter too in the dining area. We were finally seated to eat after we walked around literally almost begging to be seated and to get information about how to start playing after we eat. We never got any service to our table after we were seated, nor did we get information on how to pay to play after 40 minutes of waiting. We decided to leave obviously after and go to a place that is not abandoned. I hope the owner feels some type of embarrassment and decides to hire more staff and actually bother to train them to actually be able to run the place. What a shame! An open abandoned shop.
Went for a bachelor party. Good luck waiting 20 mins for a drink. Not the fault of the bartenders, as they were understaffed. Great work, Cineplex.
Service is terrible to non existent in the restaurant. No water refills, no check up on drinks, everything terribly slow. Had to put a glass on my head just to get the waitress' attention.
The food was OK. The nachos where just that ☹ lots of chips not much topping.
I was not able to spend much time there but the children enjoyed the few minutes we spend while we were waiting for the movie to start. They did have a nice time and are looking forward to their next visit. It is a pretty nice setup in any case.
Don't go with large groups. They make you give a mandatory 18% tip even if the service wasn't all that fantastic
Great Amenities! Amazing arcade and area to chill with friends. Really fun place to hang out, and within close proximity of the theatre.
The lasagna was amazing but the 310 burger was a bit lacking. Boyfriend had it and the first bite in was dry. We tried our best but the lasagna was better than the burger. Service wasn't too bad but it was very busy during the time that we went. Would come again when its not as busy.
The rec room in SQ is nice in that the arcade and restaurant area are separated. Its clean and affordable mostly, only thing is I wish there was more options in the arcade.
This is our second time visiting the Mississauga location and we are again disappointed. The service both times has been extremely slow and the food quality is nowhere near the downtown location. I’d recommend heading the downtown location if you over this one.
Great fun and reasonable prices
Overpriced
It was fairly quiet there. Went there to watch a Raptors game huge TV'S. Friendly staff, I'm not sure what its trying to be thow.
Food here is great I have come multiple times as I live near by. However, service is very slow. Me and my boyfriend waited 27 minutes for someone to tend to us and atleast give water. This was also a slow night. I could understand it if was busy but it was not. I had to walk up to the server desk to ask for someone to see us. I dont expect compensation but an apology would have been nice.
It's good for playing games and having fun with friends
We decided very last minute to go to the Rec Room. My 14 year old son was bored and hungry so I thought the Rec Room would kill two birds with one stone. Glad I went to the Rec Room Toronto for my birthday to know they opened one up in Mississauga. We ordered a pepperoni ???? pizza, chicken bites and lettuce wraps. The food was great. The service was a little slow, and to compensate we were given a couple of play cards. Very much appreciated. My daughter ended up joining us on her way home from downtown and it became a family affair. We will be back.
Games, food, and atmosphere was nice, but the men's washroom had no soap in it. I told a manager about it, they said someone will replace it and nothing happened for hours. This is the first time in my life that I have ever experienced this. Disgusting.
My only real complaint about the Rec Room is that it's very expensive. All other complaints I have is just nitpicking. On the plus side, I enjoyed their pizza and I enjoyed the games.
Got seated at a table, waited over 10 minutes and never got served. Then went to a bar because we were thirsty (since we didn’t get served at the table). The bartender gave us water and we ordered a sangria. Waited another 10 minutes, never received the sangria. We honestly just got up and left. The staff just walk around together chatting as if it’s a high school, rather than a workplace. This place was straight up weird and a waste of time. Don’t bother. Games are also disgusting, you can tell it’s not cleaned regularly, my hands were stick after. Just don’t go. Go to Dave and Busters.
Over priced. Its basically an arcade with extensive prices. Not worth the trip
A group of 13 came in for dinner drinks and some games. Games are well organized and decently organized surprisingly well priced ($30 for a pass that 2 people could share for an hour or so) but the restaurant needs some work. Disorganized and SLOW. Made a 9:30 reservation and waited probably 20 minutes for our table. Finally get seated and the table is for 8 not 13. Drinks took 20 minutes apps close to an hour and our party’s meals came out at different times. Food was just okay. Like any chain restaurant. Refills we had to flag a waitress down for and when the bill came we were charged full price for something that was supposed to be on drink special. Overall the space is cool it’s fun to kill a couple hours with some friends but don’t expect a killer meal or great service.
Awesome place for games and fun! Fair prices for the most part as well. The restaurant however wasn't as good as expected. It felt like we were in a fast food joint. From the time we sat down, ordered and paid it was 35 minutes. We had our food in 10 minutes, which I'm not upset about the time, obviously it was quick but to cook a burger and chicken in 10 minutes? The food felt microwaved and tasted like 3/10 for quality. Our server Aaron was amazing! I think we were his only table (went during the afternoon) and he was cleaning tables the whole time and was around when we needed anything. There was alot of workers there and he definitely seemed to work harder than most!
Definitely not for an older crowd or for little kids, food was edible that's about it, things took really long to come out. Server was very nice tho
The food was okay, service was adequate. Got the ribs and they were good but a Little too spicy
The wait time is quite long, and the servers often forget to refill the water jug. The food itself is mediocre, although there are some decent dishes: the avocado melt, which I had when the place opened earlier in the year, was delicious. However, after going there a few more times and trying different dishes, there wasn't much more I found palatable. Their pea soup is disgusting. It comes to you luke-warm, and I have a slight suspicious that it's been reheated as the plate itself is also warm. The flavour is slightly sweet and very bland, with a vomit-like texture. According to my friend who ordered the spicy chicken burger, the chicken is too sweet and not spicy enough. And the crabless cakes taste like vegetarian hotdogs, or vegetable mush. The only good thing about the crabless cakes was the crust. The servers also lacked name tags, so it was difficult to address them and tell others who your server was when asked. The experience, in a word, was mediocre.
This place is excellent. I take my 5 year old here and he has a blast!
So much fun for both kids and adults. This location is less busy than the downtown Toronto location but seems to have less games. The Star Wars VR is pricey and not as good as the Ghostbusters one was. The service at the lower level bar was brutal. We stood there for 15 minutes before they decided to come over and tell us that there was no bartender on staff and they didn't know why.
On the restaurant side, Very friendly waiters/waitresses & bartenders, as well as reasonably fast service. Food is a little bit on the expensive side (same goes for the cocktails), but all is very delicious. I would stay away from canned alcohol, as you will pay an arm and a leg for something you would pay 4.50 for at any store. On the arcade side, it is a significant improvement over the previous Starcade, definitely more aesthetically pleasing. Overall, despite being slightly overpriced; the Rec Room is definitely a fun and enjoyable spot to check out!
We went for Christmas lunch from work, 20 of us. The food was not up to the mark. Steak was extra well done and salads were served with extra dressing or no dressing at all. The service was quite slow, took us an hour to get our main course and 25 mins to get dessert. I honestly was expecting better service and food quality. Dont try the warm chocolate cake, just simple sponge cake with ice cream, cheesecake was amazing on other hand.
A must place for kids and the kid in you Amazing Manager and bartender 5 stars nice and friendly great!!!!!
So.........much.........fun!
Lots to do in a big space, that would be my summing up of the Rec Room. It's kind of sad though when you are told that all the tables are booked and after 3 hours not even half the tables are occupied. We didn't go to eat so we didn't care but it goes to show that the place could be better managed. Same with the activities: nobody at the ping pong table but apparently it's booked for the next 2 hours. But we could hear ourselves talk, had a fun time at the bowling alley, killed it at Mario Kart and left knowing we would come back
Great place for friends, couples, and families to go and have fun. They offer a variety of games! This location also offers bowling and axe throwing. Definitely busy on the weekends.
Like a bunch of other reviews, service was slow even when we booked ahead to have a fixed menu. Took 3 hours for full food service, food wasn’t bad but nothing above average.
Facility itself is nice. I feel like that a lot of the staff do not want to interact with customers and that you being served by them is a favour. For example my partner and I were downstairs at the bar and we approached the counter for service. A cook was near by doing some prep work and when she saw us she ran into the back. We tried to call for assistance multiple times but ended up having to leave the games area to have a drink because no one returned to serve us.
Save yourself from frustration. came here in a Saturday afternoon we waited 40 minutes for an order of nachos then had to go too three different counters to get a game bracelet then when decided to get fries from the shed downstairs and no one was at the counter they had to radio someone to come down they should of spent more time on training staff in customer service.
Went here for appetizers, drinks and played games afterwards. The food was tasty but the service was quite slow. The staff is friendly but maybe need clearer training so they feel more confident, or perhaps the kitchen is slow. The games were fun, music was good. I do like video games but overall for the price, I wouldn't come here very often.
I was in a party of 14 people . We had to split up due to covid policy. We ordered immediately upon being seated, but the service was very slow and mediocre at best. Some dashes arrived at the tables cold and had to be sent back. The orders were mixed up, and complaints to the manager on duty went without an apology. After our meal, we sat there for over an hour and a half with all the dirty dishes still on the tables. Very bad service, even worst experience.
Would give it 0 if I could. Went today with about 14 people for a work event. After pitchers, appitizers, food and continuous rounds of drinks that were still being ordering (tab sitting at just under $1000) we were approached by a hostess and told we would have to leave the table because they needed it for a new group that was coming in. This was poorly handled, they should have came to us and said can we seat you to somewhere else. Instead they said you have been here too long and made it feel like we were being asked to leave. Even the waitress was dumb founded. Waitresses were great all night but for the management and hostess that were working tonight they could use some training.
Great fun.
Terrible. A 2 hr wait for a table, the place has so much wasted space, should have added more seats and tables so there isn’t a 2 hr wait. We ordered apps to start and drinks and never got checked on again. We ate with no napkins, our glasses were piling up and dishes but no one would come to take them away. No water what so ever was given to us. We overheard an argument with another customer and a manger who was also having the same complaints of waiting for a seat. A friend of ours went out for a cigarette and because he had no stamp they gave him a hard time coming back even though the waitress had brought his food back to the table. This place is also a clear case of dining and dashing lol we wouldn’t but could have with the service we got. ???? I won’t be rushing to come back. I went to the cactus club that also just opened and the service was excellent, go there! Lol good food and great service.
Dine in
Great atmosphere, nice selection of games
Fun place to enjoy some apps and games. One of the employees couldn't help us with a simple task of applying a coupon we had and we had to go to the manager. Other than that, we had a good time and would come back for the entertainment.
This game arcade is located inside Square One Mall. Very good modern arcade but extremely busy during weekends. They have some nice arcade games, bowling Alley, Axe throwing and some other stuff. Loved their virtual reality experience, it's called Void. Must do for all ages.
We had a corporate event here, and we all had a blast! Bowling, arcade, games everything was really good except the food! Food sucked pretty hard!
Not quite what I expected. I expected a larger area with more games. Didn't stay for the food so I cannot comment on it. It was my first time bowling though and that was fun
The rec room itself is fine, little bit cramped. Still you can't go wrong with axe throwing and really nice staff. Will have to change this rating once I actually try the food. Another positive aspect is its proximity to the square one food district.
An awesome place to hangout with friends. Great dining experience and lots of games. Friday's and Saturdays do get VERY busy so reserve a table a few days in advance if eating at the restaurant. I enjoyed axe throwing , bowling , ping pong and Mario Kart! Virtual reality experience (the void) is very cool as well.
Horrible service. Food took over 30 mins to come. We had to ask for cutlery. No one even came to check on us. They messed up one order and it didnt come for an hour since placing the order the first time. Not a place to eat
Good
My husband and I were excited to bring our son there and enjoy some lunch and games but it turns out our first visit will be our last. 1. After we were seated it took almost 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge us at all and to take our drink order, at that point we ordered drinks and mains in fear that it would take forever to have that order put in. 2. We ordered a kids meal for our son and did not notice till we were leaving that he did not receive his popcorn or dessert that came with the meal, it wasnt even mentioned to us...I noticed it on the menu. 3. They were obviously short staffed which is stressful for everyone but a Manager should have been at least saying hello and greeting everyone, acknowledgement and a smile goes a long way.
I did the axe throwing and The Void, and what an experience! Axe throwing was cool to try out at a very reasonable price. It was literally empty on Monday morning as it had just opened. Great time to go. But The Void allowed me to experience a level of VR that I didn't know possible. You are interacting with objects in the real world and seeing something else. It's really cool and the closest I've come so far to a real life 'holodeck' experience. Well done!!
My kids had a great time at the rec room placing the different type of games. Will definitely be coming back again for more fun.
I didnt try the axe throwing, bowling or VR so I cant speak on that, but the selection of games is small compared to other arcades in the area (if you are looking for an arcade experience I would highly suggest Dave and Busters instead). For the food area, I went with some friends and had high expectations by the amount of CEO-type people I saw and the general atmosphere but was very much disappointed. The waiter I had made it obvious he didn't want to be there. I understand that we had gone later in the day and something might have happened earlier but he barely greeted us, he got our drink orders wrong and when we tried to correct him he took out his pad of paper and said that what he gave us was what we originally ordered (I think if they turned down the amount of EDM music he would have been able to hear us say we wanted coke not corona, but I don't know) and he didnt even come to ask how the food was or if everything was good. The presentation of the food looked really delicious but once we tried it, our stakes and salmon (which they seasoned the wrong side btw and basically burned it) were so bland we had to coat it in gravy and ketchup so it had some kind of flavour and the salad was drenched in some kind of lemon/mint balsamic that made it gross to eat. The calamari sharables were good and the girls at the front who directed us to our seats were really fun and good at their jobs. Overall the food area seemed over priced for what we got and the arcade is okay but next time I will go to another place.
Pretty DISAPPOINTED... party of 16 here for a birthday party. Booked the table in October and arrived saying they can't find our reservation. Only reason why we dining here is because we scheduled 2 sessions of VR. The sign at VR says booked for private event, so we want to make sure its not over booked and talked to the hostess. She has no clue about our appointment for 7:30pm and said just come back when you guys done dinner. Then when we arrived at 7:15pm after dinner at the rec room, another worker came and told us the VR is under maintainance for A WEEK. So we have to call and get a refund for 8people or come back another time..........you don't paid and booked for something for a party and have people to come another time!!! Then the hostess walked by us and apologized saying she didn't know about the maintenance and the VR was still working yesterday. So who do we trust? The gentleman that said it was under maintainance for a week or the hostess that says it was still open yesterday? The two stars is for the server that served us, who is friendly.. and food was alright. Update: one of the friend in the group contacted the management team, and they have resolve the problem and we had a good time.
This location is definitely better than Toronto's in terms of the games, size and space management. The staff and service could use some improvement though, especially from the hostesses. Nonetheless, I'm happy to live close to here, and I would recommend the Rec Room for a fun time!
Games on point, though a little pricy. Bar's tap is stocked with the best and the service is fast and friendly. Maybe think to expand the menu but overall great.
Went with a group of friends for the VR experience. That was incredible - so much fun. Then had dinner and drinks. Pizzas were good and drinks were cold. Pool tables were kind of tired - looks like they were in desperate need of new felt. The live karaoke on the Friday night was fun. Overall a great place for a night out with friends at a reasonable price.
It's alright, the food is overpriced for what it is, and the games are your typical 1990s birthday party experience. It's good if you have nothing else to do in the city.
Went for my daughter's 13th birthday and although the waiters were very nice I didn't enjoy my experience. *The music was too loud *The food wasn't good and expensive (good and expense would have been okay but no) * Not a child friendly environment Despite all of that I'm one to try another location just without the children and hope I'll have a better experience.
Awesome place
The Rec Room in Square One is the worst run restaurant ever. Service and food was equally really bad. Took an an hr and 20 min to get a beer. Never order the mac and cheese because its the most disgusting restaurant food I ever had. Took the waitress 45 min to get my bill. It was a case of enduring total chaos.
Came to Mississauga to give this place a shot, from the Niagara Region. Figured it would be good to try out the Axe throwing and the Arcade, so that is what this review will be about (Note: We did not have the food, we did not try the bowling, so this review isn't indicative of them). The overall impression I left with was that the place was "fine". Nothing particularly bad, not nothing all too impressive. The Axe throwing was pretty fun. Well explained and pretty inexpensive. We did have a incident of getting the wrong information, paying more than needed, before getting a refund. Staff apologized however and no lasting issues. The arcade is pretty minimal. Fairly small for the amount of people and not a ton of game variety. With the playdium near by, I would sooner recommend that as an Arcade. If you live in Mississauga, its a decent place to visit and not too expensive. Axe throwing isn't common and its pretty fun. But worth an hour drive? I would recommend The Midway in Niagara Falls and nearby axe throwing in Clifton.
Horrible experience went with a group of people last night for birthday party first off it took 2 hours for are good to even come out an when we asked the said they were trying to bring it out together but still manage to mess that up once the sever realized we weren’t happy her attitude changed my steak was fat an chard like come on tbh I might not go back to this place u like games an food go to Dave an buster facts !!
Gave this spot too many chances before I finally had to review it. Food is always a ridiculous wait, if you even get served (currently sitting at the bar and have not been served,) food is cold or poor quality, and the service is severely lacking. Would love to see this place revamp their quality of customer service. Definitely won't be back.
Exactly as advertised
Great experience. Been a couple times good affordable drinks and food! Will be here again.
Gratuity is included in your bill for bigger groups. The waiter should have said something to us, but did not and received extra tip for a not so good service. Last time here. It seemed shady that she processed 10 payments for my group and not a word said.
Had a lot of potential but then had karaoke all night with one sappy song after another. Maybe take that away on popular nights so people can actually enjoy themselves rather than wanting to sleep and be sad.
An extremely large venue with lots of games, dance space, bowling, axe cages, bars and pub style food. The VOID virtual reality rooms should be on everyone's list to experience. It's unreal! Great for a date night, hanging with friends, or avoiding kids haha.
Went to The Rec Room for a work event. Had so much fun! The games were well maintained and prizes for the tickets won were nice. Will definitely come again with my family. Thanks for a great event!
Great place! Kids loved it
Games are ok. I should have read other people’s review on food before decide to dine here. The wait time is way longer than expected even though I had 3 servers helped our table. And by then I didn’t even have the appetite to finish my noodle. We had to go do a different restaurant to get another lunch/dinner later.
Decent service.. not as good as the Toronto location
Amazing games with fair prices and plenty options
Nice venue, friendly staff... lots of great games. My only gripe about this place is that it seems as if they are short staffed or possibly aren’t managing their resources in the best way. Long line ups for coat check and to load your card. The have self serve kiosks but they don’t accept gift cards. Still a cool place tho I will be back for sure.
Great place for an outing with friends. Had fun with their gaming section! The VR section at the location is amazing as well with their selection.
Best fun experience in st John's. Arcades. Bar & restaurant
Everything we ate tasted great! Large portions at a good price. Decent service. Lots of games to choose from. $30 in tickets goes a long way!
I understand that I went to the place pretty late and their staff did tell me about the closing time as I entered however, they did not mention a “last call” for the games and I topped up my wristband only to play a single arcade game. they would not provide me a refund either. not to mention the careless attitude of the staff there to check proof of vaccination or follow any other regulations. disappointed with the service I was provided in comparison to the other location. train your staff better!
Extremely poor service on multiple occasions. Have to beg for somebody to take your order and even then won't get served. Been there 3 times and everytime had similar experience. Today we've decided to purchase so well advertised movie&dinner package, and guess what?!?!? Seated....waited ... waited ....waited .....waited..... and nothing!!!! 20 minutes after waiting and seeing other tables , that were seated after us ,being served first, after asking 2 different servers to get somebody to take our order, after giving up on the idea of having a dinner before the movie starts and asking for a refund, they've decided to bring us some water...awesome, thanks! Great job! They did try to make it up and gave us a gift card along with the refund. Appreciated, but that doesn't change the fact of a poor service and a screwed up mood. At least they are consistant!
Horrible service. Made reservations and when we arrived they gave our table to people who had a reservation after us. Instead of trying to accommodate, the hostesses kicked attitude, clearly theyre unhappy with their jobs. Miserable snd never smiled. We told them we were there to watch the game and had specified when we made the reservation, yet the nasty waitress claimed "if that was the case it would be here". Ive never had staff at a restaurant be so rude for no reason. Pathetic and disgusting. They should all be fired. Yet these are the same people that cry about low wages and not getting tipped. On top of that, the waitress kept staring us down after as if we did something to her! I will NEVER come here again. The downtown location is much more professional and courteous as well as competant...3 things this place & their employees lack and will NEVER have!
Really cool but man put AC in ther
Here's a little tip for here, buy atleast a size larger of popcorn than you think you'll want
If I could give no stars I would. My b/f threw a large birthday party there. THE WORST SERVICE EVER. When we went in (entrance through the mall) the girl said our table was canceled...(over 20+ people were coming). We questioned her because we made the reservation 1.5 months ago. Then she sent us to the other entrance and they still had no idea what reservations we were talking about. People who ordered their food did not get it until 1.5 hours later and the servers/management tried to blame the individuals that they didn't order the food on time. MEANWHILE, they were the first people to arrive and ordered their food in a timely manner. GREAT WAY TO BLAME THE CUSTOMER...learn how to take ownership of your mistakes. You guys provide a service so learn how to provide it.
The games are quite disappointing. They need a bunch better variety. I remember chuck cheese being more fun as a kid. the restaurant looks ok and axe throwing was fun but short.
Came here last night for a friends surprise birthday and it so happened to land on the same date as the Raptors final division game. This place is in the newly developed area of the popular Square One Mall. I've always wanted to spend some time at the original Rec Room downtown but never got around to it, yesterday was the perfect opportunity to check out the Mississauga location. We had a table reserved for 25 people and we were lucky enough that they put the table right in front of their big screen for us to witness history. They have plenty of tables and seatings to hold at least 300 people in their dining area plus patio. I noticed that they have an axe throwing area and VR game located on the upper level near the mall entrance side. The axe throwing you need to reserve time slots with the front of house staff as well as pay extra to play. On the sign I read $37 per person for an hour and $4 per person to sample 5 axes. The VR game is $35 per person also require a reservation with the front desk. Then there are the arcade games and points game where you collect points to trade up for prizes later on. In the end I never really played any games mainly just drinks, some food and to watch the Raptors take the division championship. I have to give it to our server for being fairly quick to bring our table our drinks and food on this super busy night she did a wonderful job. Their drinks and food prices are very reasonable and not too expensive. The burger was good I got the Three10 Burger and that was amazing but not for the light hearted, this monster comes with 2 beef patties, cheddar cheese, bacon, 2 fried eggs sandwiched between a soft brioche bun. Heart attack waiting to happen but totally worth it. I found that the selection of games do not match up to Dave and Busters. But The Rec Room does have a few things that D&B doesn't offer and like I mentioned above Axe throwing, VR game, and also a few lanes of bowling downstairs in the game area. There is also a stage for performance that they call "The Hall" and their guest last night was Choclair. He did a few songs after the Raptors game which was cool. I think I would definitely be back for their food and drinks and try out the arcade as I purchased a game card loaded with money that I didn't really use.
Really good place! Restaurant: The food here was really good. They had a alot of choices. (They also have GF, and Vegan Options.) The quality of the food was very great. Arcade: Very similar to what you would find at a Dave's and Buster's or Playdium. The variety of games were very good, and fun. (The prizes were also pretty good)
Meal type
I love this place! Never a dull moment, Great place to spend a fun filled evening with family & friends. ????????????????
Service is consistently poor - wait staff are slow and inattentive. When asking for help, the staff just shrugged shoulders and said they were too new to know without reaching out to other staff to help. Cast iron skillets left a metallic smell/taste in multiple dishes at our table. Definitely won’t be back.
Atmosphere was good, food wasn't soo good.
Nice place to have a good time with friends. Was not too crowded on a Friday evening.
My grandson enjoyed it tremendously.it was very enjoyable.
This is an awesome place to kill time if you have the money. There prices for games is pretty far and they have alot of fun games like halo, pong, PAC MAN, and they even have VR. If arcade machines are not your thing they have a bowling alley and an axe throwing lane. They have a restaurant here which I have not tried yet but from the menu it looked very good. All and all its a awesome place to hang out with some friends
Dinner
It's ok is really the best way to describe the Rec Room. It's no where near good but it isn't bad either, very much ok. Food is too expensive and lacking in selection, it tries way too hard to be a hip and cool food spot when that makes no sense for the Rec Room being essentially a fancy arcade spot. The staff are nice but training is lacking with the staff interactions I had being fine as long as my enquires were within their job parameters otherwise they directed me to someone else in a different spot in the complex. I guess the real notable negative event was that when I reported a broken arcade machine that took my credits and didn't work I was directed while in the arcade area to a different spot up stairs and down a hall to get my credits refunded which made no sense since I was in the arcade area, the staff member in the arcade area refused to even look at the arcade game that was broken. The Rec Room real issue is it's just lacking in so many areas, the food was too expensive with poor selection, the staff was nice but lacked training, the arcade games were fun but had technical glitches and the complex was trying to be a hip spot to be when they should focus more on just being a adult oriented arcade and greasy food spot.
Good food and games and friendly staff
Awesome place
I've come here multiple times and always have a good time. A good variety of games and activities. The deep fried donut balls were good as well. Definitely recommend for a pass time if you're in the area.
Poor customer service, extremely slow service, rude and unhelpful staff. Don't recommend at all.
good laugh
Less 3 stars for service from the hostess to the waitress , bad enough that I won't return at least not to sit and eat (I was considering just placing my order at the bar). It was Thursday and NOT busy. Place is cool. Food and atmosphere are great but 10 minutes waiting for a table at the hostess desk (place was maybe half capacity) 15 mins before the waitress appeared at our table and another 10 before we got our drinks. The order was wrong, and I got charged for something I didn't order. Not good.
We always get the pretzel when we go to the Rec room - food was good, service was quick once we got a table (everything was reserved) when we reached so we had to wait for our reservation which was 1.5 hrs later - so make sure you’re booking a reservation ahead of time if time is of essence. Location is great, it’s right within square one. Many different game options, definitely a nice fun place to hangout with any age group. It was busy but not to the extent where we felt unsafe in any way, everyone had their masks and they checked for vaccination proof prior to entry (they accepted photos of our ID). Good experience and will return for the games. A suggestion would be for substitutions of food maybe the kitchen can offer more variety. A friend ordered the chicken club sandwich without the bread / bacon - essentially just wanted a lettuce wrap sandwich but what arrived was the toppings on the chicken, shredded lettuce above it and the sauce, so his meal did seem quite unsatisfactory.
Nice restaurant and quite large. My experience has always been at the Toronto location, but if your in Mississauga, its a good stop. Expect to spend some money though!
Had an amazing time here at a work event. We did games, ate and did a virtual reality expedition! Lots of laughs and lots of joking around. I had a great time so i can imagine the fun that kids have! The staff are very friendly and very helpful!
Great vibes all around the place. Love the bowling alley, over priced food but that's understandable considering you are in the city. Love to go here.
Great spot within the mall that offers a variety of activities for anyone of any age! You can buy a bracelet, that you bring back with each visit, to load "tokens" onto, that can be used on rec room games, and then the winning points can be redeemed in location for a prize. The restaurant is overlooking the arcade room, so it is a great spot to pre-order food for when the kids want a break, (have a drink while you wait for the kids). I love the table layout...bar sitting, long tables, booths. There is evening/wknd live entertainment, staff is friendly/attentive; overall very happy with this space! (Four stars only bc it still is not cheap when you tally an evening out).
Service was slower than expected, mixed up my order but discounted the cost of my beer for the trouble. May give this restaurant another chance, but it won't be anytime soon.
They are still working out kinks. Their security/commissioners need to tone it down, it’s an arcade not a casino.
Eat or drink somewhere else other than the dining area. Service is slow and sometimes nonexistent but downstairs in the games area they are much faster and more prompt.
The food was great. I hadn't been here before so played it safe and went with the club. One of the best clubs I've ever had. Service was a little slow, but they were friendly and did a decent enough job. My kid had a blast bowling and playing the arcade. Could be a costly family night out, but a fun treat for all from time to time.
Offers a variety of games but not interesting enough to want to come very often as they lose their enticement after one try. Also packed but that may have been because it was the opening night
The place is awesome in there but the one arcade game is packed with customers and me and my mom were waiting right next to a Mario kart game and a kid rushed right in and it was ok its a kid but then a teen did the same thing and then a adult and this happend 3 more times we were waiting there for 15 to 20 minutes me and my mom were angry and done waiting any longer so we just left i think that they need to get a line up there or a staff member next to the Mario kart game directing people to the game. something needs to change
Great place to have fun and spend lots of money.
Awesome place to visit.... on a Break
The Void VR Star wars is a complete rip off. 10 minutes of shotty content for $40. Don't waste your time/money.
We have been here twice and the wait staff was non-existent or too busy talking to each other about their personal lives. Waited 10 minutes to get a seat by a hostess and the restaurant was virtually empty. No one came by to ask us for drinks or gave us a menu. After another 10 minutes of trying to make eye contact with one of the staff, we gave up and ended up leaving. A waitress came out from the back and said "if you're not going to order, don't sit down because now I have to wipe the table!" Never again!!!
Food was good Service was great Games were amazing
This place is great. A little pricey sure, but it's a unique experience in St. John's. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I had the shrimp and salmon pasta, delicious. A lot of places like this are much lower quality. It's a lot of fun for either family fun or drinks with friends. Highly recommended.
I have been trying to phone the restaurant without success so I will post my concerns here. We were there last month, seven adults, two children and one infant. Because there were at least eight of us, we were told that an automatic 18% gratuity would be added to our bill. Not great, I like leaving a tip based on service we received not what we might receive but we went in anyway. The first thing that happened was a waiter dropped a tray of glasses right next to our table. They sweep it up but didn't use a mop, you could see all the tiny slivers left on the floor. I had to make sure my grandchildren stayed off the floor. When our order was taken, my son ordered nachos, they had run out of nachos. My grandchildren ordered apple juice, had to wait twenty minutes to find out they had run out of apple juice. An order wings were one short. The salmon sandwich was to spicy to eat. All of this was reflected on the bill. We were not offered dessert and the grandchildren didn't get their dessert that was included in the kids meal. The waitress brought the bill along with debit machine and asked how I was paying. I had to ask her to come back so I could review the bill. It was not a great experience.
I've been 3 times. Great spot for fun but the food service during the day seems way too slow and they always seem to be understaffed and disorganized.
Would not recommend. Please do not entertain their bad business values until they change. Employees crying, over 45 minute waits for a drink, and forcing their employees to work in a toxic environment. On New Year’s Eve they understaffed employees, oversold entrance, and let greed expose theirs staff and customers to a bad night. The employees are not the problem at Rec Room, it is management that is the problem. Avoid The Rec Room until they sort out their blatant issues and staff the building accordingly. They don’t care about the employees or the customer, only money.
Went for my boyfriend’s birthday. Sat down for a drink at the bar, ordered a pizza and went to sit down at a table, the place was empty as it was a Tuesday night. We were told we couldn’t seat ourselves and had to wait out front. We waited and nobody ever came to seat us. The employees were miserable and we ended up having to wait for them to finish talking to each other about “school and home” as we stood in front of them for minutes with our money in the table, trying to get credits to our wristband and AGAIN later to claim our prize. Terrible service and horrible attitudes. Don’t come here if you’re looking for any sort of fun.
Great place to visit and alot of fun
Came to check out the new Rec Room location beside our house last night with a group of 10 people celebrating a birthday, arrived just after 1AM and did a quick tour of the place, was really impressed until we got back up to the bar... We were told it was last call as we approached the bar, so we specifically asked how much alcohol we could get and were told as much as we want by one bartender, only to be stopped by the female bartender with the dyed red hair with a horrible attitude who was running around the bar grinding her teeth and flipping her pony tail at us like she was on something, yelling about how she’s not serving us because we won’t finish our drinks by 2am. As a SERVER myself, I know that last call is 15 minutes to close not 30 which we were told. It was extremely clear she was choosing not to serve us so she could leave sooner which is so unfair to paying guests. We were not planning on staying long because we knew it was close to closing time. We waited at the bar rail for a manager as other bartenders continued to serve the other people sitting right beside us on the bar. By the time the manager arrived, she was screaming over the bar looking like she was ready to hop over. Manager apologized and security guards in the front were very apologetic and kind but we will never return after this. I feel embarrassed for even suggesting we go here, definitely ruined our friends birthday night. Bartenders missed out on an 18% tip on an easy group of 10.
Was fun. Especially the axe throwing.
Pretty small collection of games compared to D&B and the London RR location. Wasn't able to use the credits and wrist band that I got in London even though all the RR's are operating on the same new system. Fun place to play if you're already shopping at SQ1 but don't bother coming here just for the sole purpose of playing at RR
Had a wonderful experience here today. The staff (bowling area) were very helpful and answered all our questions about everything with a smile.
Pros: Nice place that just opened. Prices are reasonable for the food and variety of food options available. Games are also fun. Have bowling, axe throwing, Star Wars vr and arcade games. Cons:staff not very friendly, no change table for dads(has to be moms changing), can be hectic to manoeuvre a stroller at times, wait staff doesn’t come check on you often enough.
Lots of arcade games to play for hours! Also bowling, vr, and a place to eat. Its fairly cheap to get credits for the games in my opinion (depending on what games you play). There are also wet wipes near the games to clean wherever you need to touch to work the game.
It's the expensive cousin of Chuck-e-Cheese... But it has bunch of options for adults. Good place to hang out with friends and family.
We went there for the first time tonight and it was amazing! Lots to do and super affordable!! :) We've been won over and will be returning again for sure!!! Hoping to try out some more of the food and drink on a return visit, as well! :)
Family loves coming here. Atmosphere here is amazing! We made a lot of the metal in here so decor is great too!
This is a great time and a perfect way to spend an evening. They have tvs for sports, arcade axe throwing ping pong and a variety of events. Its great for all ages and if you haven't been I highly recommend it. Eat before you go if you don't want fried food.
First time there. What a fun place.
Service was horrible! Have been there twice now. First time I had organized an event for work. Made reservations a week in advanced and when we showed up they didn't have our reservation and it took them 15 minutes to set it up. We had called ahead saying we wanted to arrive at 5 and order a la carte for the 15 guests and on the phone they said it wasn't a problem, totally different story when we get there. It is 5:30 pm by the time we are able to place our food. I walked up to the bar and asked the bartender what beers they had and she just pointed to the taps as if I could clearly see the labels from where I was standing. I thought she was joking. The second time I went was with another large group and the hostess took me to the wrong table. The waitress took over 15 minutes to greet any new guests. I had ordered a drink and she said that they were out of it so I ordered another drink, but the waitress still brought over the first drink. She didn't seem knowledgeable about the menu at all. And best part was when they were running my calamari 20 minutes after ordering it they dropped it all over my friend's stroller. Took another 10 minutes for my remake to come out. I also work in the service industry as my 3rd job so from the server's perspective I found th service to be totally abismal. I gave it a 2 stars because the food is okay. Going with big groups is fun because of the games, but annoying with the level of service they provide.
Meal type
I went to the Rec Room restaurant for the first time on Family day. My two grown daughters who came from out of town to spend the day with me thought it would be fun to have a late lunch and then play some games. We got there around 3 pm. We were told we would be seated in 10 minutes after they cleared off a table for use. After 20 minutes of not being seated I asked when would we be seated. I noticed a lot of empty tables but nobody was clearing them. The girl at the desk said in a snarky voice. Well it takes time to clear a table. I was tempted to just go to one of the empty tables take off the plates etc. and wipe the table my self. But I thought ok. let's wait. After another 15 minutes we thought to leave and go eat at another close by restaurant and then come back to play the games. But we had waited that long so we stayed. Then finally someone came to seat us. There were still uncleared tables all around us. It seamed like thy didn't have enough staff on such an important day?? Then we were left at the table waiting to be served til after 20 minutes the waiter came. We ordered our meals and drinks and he was gone. I didn't get a chance to tell him about t my dirty plate which I then put on the dirty table beside us.. I also wanted to ask for some water since we waited so long. Finally our drinks came after 20 more minutes of waiting. Then our food 10 minutes after that. They brought the food and nobody came back to see if everything was ok. I would have told them my fries were cold. The food was ok other than that. My girls wanted to complain to the manager but we couldn't find anyone. After our lunch we just wanted to leave. It was 5 pm by then. We didn't want to spend the day at this restaurant, Something like lunch should have taken 45 minutes took over 2 hours. It gave us little time to play the games before we all had to go home for the night. They needed more staff for that day or get them do do more instead of being rude to the customers. Not sure where management was. I would never recommend this restaurant.
It was a great experience. Nice two floors, plenty of games and reasonably priced. Staff was very friendly, good music that played top 100 so everybody would have something they like. The best value for the games is to buy the 25 dollar card, which is 33 dollars after tax which gives you 160 credits which gives you more than enough to play everything.
Only go if your planning to play games, the service was unbelievably bad, especially when we were sitting at the main bar. Took ages to get acknowledged for drinks, food, and the bill. Don't plan on asking for a takeout container either, unless you want to carry around a medium sized pizza box. The manager looked perplexed when we asked for a smaller container for just a tiny amount of nachos.
Much better than the toronto location. I love the layout and how big and spacious the games area is. Also cool that they had pool, ping pong, bowling, and axe throwing.
You've heard it from others, the staff here is terrible and so the service is too. Other than that, it's just like any other Rec Room. But I've never had good customer service here.
No one was available at the void (once we found someone to ask the wait was 45mins) they told us to book online but the we decided to eat while we wait but the restaurant had a 45 min wait as well so... We ended up going to the food court.
Phase 3 review: they're doing their best to keep things distant, considering the fact that they're an arcade still a great place to hang out as long as it doesn't get too busy
Service is super slow and the gaming area is aweful and barely gives your cards enough points, but the best part was the food the place above the gaming area was great I mean great service amazing food especially the fried beans so good the atmosphere was great a lot of positivity which I loved. The only reason I gave it a four is because of the restaurant or else the rest no. The Rec Room needs to improve a few things but the restaurant there is just great and astonishing.
Good place.. Good service.. Had a good time
Good place to have a good time with playing games. Food is also good.
Our family had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. On Family Day, we arrived and were told it would be a 2 hour wait, yet the restaurant was 40% vacant. It was 1:30pm. After some negotiating, we had the wait reduced to 40min. After ordering, we waited 30 minutes for our food, however, never received our pepperoni pizza. After 20 min of no check on our food by the staff, I waived a Manager down sharing the pizza issue. She indicated that she will “look after it right away”. 30 addition minutes went by and still no pizza and no attention to our table of 5 adults and 3 young children. At this point we wanted to pay and leave, however it took some effort to eventually find our original waitress whom we had not seen for 60+ min. Nothing was done to retain our business or to support a couple of loose apologies for our experience. To the GM, in the future, ensure there are sufficient staff and responsible management on hand during inevitable busy times and holidays. Thankfully the gaming downstairs was worth the wait.
Fun spot to spend the evening with friends. Great selection of games and prizes, and using the bracelet is intuitive and fun. Definitely recommended.
Great overall experience the staff for friendly the place is clean the food is good and the place is just fun
Food wad good but service was the slowest I've ever experienced. As an example, our waitress came back to me 20 minutes after I placed my order to clarify what I ordered even after our table advised we had a vr experience in 1.5 hours. This should have been at most 5 minutes. Service continued to be so slow while getting drink refills and our cheques we had to push back our vr experience by 30 min.
My First time at the RR(Rec Room) as soon as i walked in it was like "waaaaw" ❤the place was beautiful and warm.. the hosts welcome the guests with a warm smile...beautiful place to go on dates... parties and even for a social drink with friends..The hosts/ bartenders/ managers are all beautiful people...I'll definitely visit there again❤ keep the warm smile going guys it goes a long way...
Good place to catch up with your friends with drinks and snacks. They might be out of Nachos, if you are going in there for it, so better to find out before hand.
If I could give a negative star I would. Okay here we go so I went to the rec room restaurant around 6pm for my friends birthday and from the beginning it seemed like they were shocked to have walk ins even tho the place was pretty empty at the time. So the girl shows us to our seats then says she will come back and we never see her again. Another girl came got us water and said she will come back and we never saw her again. AND finally some blonde lady helped us , after 15 mins or so of us just waiting for someone to come. Also none of the girls introduced themselves and no one tried to make some conversation. So the blonde lady gets us our drink and food after more time of waiting. Now I understand that sometimes there is wait but how is it acceptable if it's not busy and there are many staff talking to each other, enjoying the Macdonald food while we wait for ours, hugging each other, and three people setting up one small table. And no one bothered to come and ask if other customer needed anything. Food was not that great. The worst was the blonde lady we were paying and she said to my friend whom birthday it was if she was sure she enjoyed everything cuz she didn't give her tip and my friend nicely explained to her that we noticed many staff not caring and that if she didn't come we probably wouldn't have been serviced but she started to roll her eyes, give me the machine to pay next she went to her coworkers and started complaining came back said I believe in karma what goes around comes around and threw down my receipt on table and left. So immature and unprofessional. Also she told my friend that if she gets no tip she would have to pay 5 % or something , like what do you us to do talk to ur manager not us. She ruined day and no one asked us what we came for it was for a birthday they could of been nicer, we were gonna go downstairs to see the games but nope after that we decided never to go again I will let my coworkers know cuz they wanted to go too, I mean we should of just went to the food court instead. NOT WORTH IT.
Good place for eat and fun/games
Good place to hang out with friends. Place is a bit small but considering it's in a mall, it's quite decent. And I like that they have the axe throwing which was fun. VR is kinda pricy on the other hand.. don't think it's really worth 40$. The place isn't really for kids as they actually check your ID at night since there's more drinking
Great place to take your kids, lots of sanitation stations and staff walking around spraying things down constantly. Super friendly and helpful staff too!
Lots of fun.
Even if our reservations had of panned out (bad management) the spot really isn't the place to go. For starters the prices are high, $3.98 for a pop high. Now keep in mind gratuities are included but expect $hi++y service (if any) and cut eye from the bartender if you don't tip on top of the tip already included in the bill (table service same thing). Food wise it was ok but not for the price (its owned by Ciniplex so expect $12 for popcorn pricing, plus a tip, and a tip). Could barely see the TVs because of table placement, people walking/standing in front, and their raffle guy making his rounds and announcements during the Raptors game. Then played overpriced games downstairs way worse than Dave and Buster's for even cr@pyier prizes. We did go on a busy night with alot of people but it is no excuse for how management delt with the situation and the experience we all had.
I went to the downtown Toronto location and I genuinely had a great time there. I had purchased the $30 play card and the staff there had told me it will work at the Mississauga location too. And now that I'm here it's not working and the manager told me that there was nothing she could do. Aside from this, the service itself was terrible. The food was late, cold, and bills were charged for items not ordered.
This was a horrible experience I went her for my sister's birthday with a a large group of 16 people. Our order was put in a half hour after we ordered there was only one server for our table which I found ridiculous since it was such a large group so I understand if she was flustered. We were not told how long to wait for our food so we didnt want to leave the table to play games. We ordered appetizers and mains and after an hour none of our mains even came out yet. We had to ask to see our server since she had not even come to check on us since delivering our first drink. We asked about our food 3 times after that then finally decided to cancel our order and ask to speak to the manager who said he would comp our apps and yet they still weren't coming out this has now been about an hour and 30 mins since we've sat down. The food that did finally start to tickle out looked like it was sitting under the warmer this whole time; Some was cold and some peoples food was overly cooked, let alone my fries which is the only thing I ordered still did not come out. Finally we decided to just pay for our drinks and leave which the server was really rude about as if we had no right to cancel our order. Honestly I was really disappointed especially since we went there for a birthday and it was just not experience I would wish for anyone to have.
Not much game play selection as the old playdium. I'd try the bowling though as they are at a good price than other bowling places.
I've been there twice, I liked the first time so I recommend to a friend for her birthday. It was a disaster, I think that they are not trained for big groups, the waitress was never around (only one for 20 people), we didn't got water and somple never got their food. As we had separated bills they just give the Scene points only to the first that pays, but they charged the mandatory 18% for big groups.
Tried the fish and chips here, and it was great. They have a wide variety of games you can play. The axe throwing is a bit pricey.
Overrated, but that's nothing new. Management can use some work, had to wait forever in a line where only 1 of 3 cashiers were open, only to be told to go elsewhere. Also the conversion system is wonky, my new bracelet from dt apparently only had 2 credits when converted
Certainly rivals its Downtown Toronto location. Though I've yet to dine here, all of its other facilities are excellent. The VOID is well worth the price, offering an experience that far exceeds any VR arcade that I've had the opportunity to visit. Miles above the Playdium across the street. The arcade games are modern and span a good cross-section of genres. Excited to see what's in store for the Rec Room over the coming years.
Great food and fun games
Love this place! Wish Corner Brook on the west coast had something along the lines of this!
Came for new years eve bash. Great idea! But poor execution. Games were packed. Lines were incredible. People were hogging the machines. Easily could have turned sour if people demanded machine use.
Place is super busy. Looks nice inside. I understand with the place being busy and all that the bartenders are crazy busy, but if he/she can not handle it...it would be better if someone else could fill the position. Otherwise i would go back again.
The Rec Room restaurant has a great variety for every taste. The Spring Pea Soup is so flavourful, and I order it everytime I dine there. Many vegetarian/vegan options as well. The prices are reasonable. A bag of popcorn is offered as a free appetizer. Cool place to visit.
So much fun. Fair prices and great atmosphere
Asked for something to be taken off the bill server said he would but he didn’t paid $32 for cold fries,8 chicken wings and 2 cokes
Food options weren’t the greatest Service was horrible had reservation @ 9pm didn’t get Seated UNTIL.. 1030pm and they didn’t give us anything for the delay...
Tastey food but extremely loud
Excellent place for a night/day out!
Had my daughter's birthday here and it was wonderful! Lots of games for kids (daughter is 11) staff was excellent and food was good. If bringing kids come before 7-8 as it becomes more adult oriented.
Did lunch here on a weekday. It's awkward getting in, as the front desk has no signage to indicate this is where you have to ask to be seated. I spent time wandering around the arcade looking for someone to seat me. Once I was directed back to the front desk, however, the staff were friendly and accommodating. I asked to sit at the bar; large, clean, still smells like a new car. I ordered a fish sandwich with chips. The food was good and served quickly, the batter on the fish was light and fresh but a bit too greasy; it left little puddles of grease on the plate. Bartender seemed nervous, perhaps inexperienced. Friendly enough, however. BUT... as a dedicated and longstanding Guinness drinker, tenders should be trained in the proper way to pour and serve a Guinness. This young chap hadn't a clue. While this was certainly not a deal-breaker, I would have given this place 5 stars if my pint had been pulled properly.
This place looks nice, ok food but really horrible service(understatement). Seems like poor leadership/management, get it together don't fight in front of your customers. Charging $1 for hot sauce is real petty.
It's a wonderful addition to the square mall. Food is good and the arcade area is fun. Overall a fun place to hangout with kids, friends, colleagues or family.
Food was okay but the service is awful. And they add in gratuity to your bill even though you are lucky to get a drink refill. Also they sit you to close to the live music so you can't have a conversation with your company. If you ask to be placed at another table they say they are booked for another party. And the entire time we are there the tables are unused.
Fun time with friends. Many great games and things to do!
We had terrible, slow service. We waited 10 minutes to be seated even though half the tables were empty. Servers and management were rude even though we had been waiting 20 minutes to even get water. The table next to us had been waiting even longer, all we got was a unsincere apology. Our server threw the reciept into the plate in front of me.
The Rec Room has been opened for approx 6 months. I've tried to get out to try it and finally did this weekend. Its a very big and spacious place with 2 levels for entertainment in the Square One shopping Mall. We came for lunch and were kind of surprised that it wasnt very busy. Lots of young families and strollers around tables (I guess shoppers come in for lunch). We sat ourselves as no one was at the entrance. The seating is very exposed to the entire space so its very loud and has a cafeteria feel to it. The Bar has great big tvs so I can see it be fun to come watch a game. Not sure if we were supposed to be seated buy someone as no one came to help us out so we got up and wondered around the place. Its very much like Dave & Busters but with less games and very open. They have axe throwing and bowling with takes a lot of space, but its also visible to everyone who wants to watch. Place is New and clean. When we came back we sat for a while before someone finally noticed us. We ordered some drinks and lunch. Drinks came quick but food took forever, without exaggeration it was at least 30 mins of us sitting there before the server come back to let know it will be another few minutes. its a long time for Salad and wings. The salad was fine. The wings were ok. I liked the sauce, but I don't like when they are bloody in the middle... I know is usual for frozen wings, but its just not appetizing. We were never offered another drink which is ok as we were there way too long for lunch. Also not a huge deal to me but its a slight oversight on the servers part, the wing dip (which I did not have a chance to taste) had a lovely hair right in the middle of it. Anyways, the place is entertaining, most likely I will not be back for lunch, maybe drinks if we come back to play some games. Rather prefer D&B as they have more games and the food is better and they have booth seating which is much nicer to enjoy your meal. Hope the experience is better if we come for evening drinks and games.
Took forever to get our server let alone our food was obvious the hubby's burger had a bun that was toasted but came cold, our sons salad came out as fries and the wings were crunchy but room temperature and there were maybe 7 tables with customers!
We had an awesome time, loads of games!
How strange, I had written a review a couple of months ago, and even received a Like. Came to look at the other reviews and mine seemed to be deleted... Anyhow, this place was not good. Don't expect good food, it's an entertainment establishment.
Subpar. Waiter only seemed to care when manager came and asked if everything was okay. Asked the waiter for a bbq sauce and it only came after I asked the assistant manager the second time. Also, the bbq sauce tasted an awful lot like tabasco but the waiter insisted that was their mild bbq sauce. Service was underwhelming to say the least. Food was okay overall though, had a pizza (called the beast) and the giant pretzel. Not sure if I would recommend eating here when there are better options overall close by...
My experience on new years eve was amazing! The coat Check line and entry was a little slow, but the DJs were SO responsive to requests. Great music and crowds, i had such a fun night.
The Void (Star Wars) was amazing! Game selection in the rest of the arcade is just ok. Food is decent. Will be back.
Extremely rude servers. Booked a table for brother’s birthday. Came across three servers who had an extremely unwelcoming attitude. We wanted to cut his cake at 12 and gave it to them beforehand. We waited half n hour after 12 and after requesting several different servers got the cake finally. Got up without having anything else. Would not ever plan a party here. First and last time.
Games are super fun but had to give a low rating for the service only. Food was also excellent!
Casual dining and casual atmosphere with arcades and games. Fun to go out with kids and enjoy both food and games. Food was OK! Service was great!
I wanted to put a negative 5 stars but that’s not an options I will NEVER will come back to this place again I waited 30 mins plus to get 2 poutines at “the shed” and the person who made it didn’t wash there hand and took the cheese out from the packet with his bare hands and put it on my fries when I called to tell management all they said was for ME to come upstairs to talk to them in a laughing matter no professional at all do not recommend this place for anyone try a different location for SURE !!
So many games and a ton of fun. They have pinball too, recommend just for that!
Very nice and family friendly atmosphere, lots of cool games for kids
This is not a straight forward review, I have some good and bad things to say which brings down the overall rating. First the good, Jumanji Void experience is amazing! I've done a few of the Void experiences and I will say that Jumanji is so far the best one to date (followed by Ghost Busters, Wreck it Ralph and Star Wars (I wouldn't do Star Wars again though)). The gaming (arcade) areas are ok as well, clean, most machines worked and good enough selection. Now the bad, the food... What we had today, the nachos (with chicken) and pepperoni pizza. The nachos were the worst I have ever had from any restaurant. It is partially my fault I think as had I known the cheese was the fake cheese sauce I would have never purchased. This and the fact that there was barely any chicken to be found was disappointing, especially at $22. The pizza was very salty, I wouldn't recommend either dish here. Service was a bit slow, I finished my meal before I could find someone to refill my drink (which I desperately needed to wash down the terrible food). I will come back again to do the Void experiences, but I will eat somewhere else and avoid the restaurant completely.
It is a fairly decent place, not quite Playdium, but it gets it done
Great place to go in group. Had fun playing with or against other people. They had a live band playing and lots of different games going on for all ages.
We waited over 30 minutes for our food to come and I didn’t get my order. Customer service was terrible and on top of that we were charged a gratuity fee. Never eating here again.
This is excellent place to spend time specially in winter
Came in with high expectations, but quite disappointed. Staff seriously lack communication skills. When we entered the staff member quickly turned his back to us for a long time before I realized he was looking for a table to seat us. No instructions about what’s going to happen next, how to get a wristband to play games. We get plopped at a table and after waiting a solid 10 mins we’re then wondering what’s going on we managed to flag someone cleaning another table to help us get started. And then the cherry on top was getting charged extra for a tiny blob of Mayo for fries with no explanation at the time of requesting it that it would cost extra.
I could complain that the service was incredibly slow, but hey they just opened and they were super busy. What I WILL complain about is the fact that there's only ONE fighting game cabinet. Although street fighter 4 is great, there's a slew of fighting games that they could be offered. Also, for some reason someone thought it would be a good idea to include the arcade cabinet version of the MOBILE PORT of Injustice gods among us, there isn't even a joystick. Whoever signed off on this purchase made a huge error or simply doesn't care.
Had a bite to eat with my boyfriend after playing some arcade games. The food took awhile to come out, but what worth the wait. He had a burger and I had a chicken sandwich, both were superb. Could use to help adding wait staff because on such a busy night, the servers were slammed.
It's an okay location, it feels much smaller than their downtown location and less to offer. Sure they have bowling and axe throwing, but they're additional costs on top of what you've already paid for in game credits, drinks and food. Moreover the game section feels smaller and not nearly as good as the downtown location. It feels more like a bar and grill with small activities tacked on versus the other way around.
Nice space but our table took over 30 min to be approached by a server in a half empty restaurant. Had fish and chips, it was good.
The restaurant is always jam packed and the seating near the quick serve counter was booked for a private event. The food was t bad though and the games are fun but the card readers rarely work the first time you tap your play card.
Fabulous arcade and dine inside Square One with bowling. The meals inside are quite great, and the wood fired pizzas are fabulous for a good price too!
I took my son there for an afternoon of fun. Man he had a blast. I must say games are pretty good and they're all working. Lots of selection to pick from and one of the better places in town to go for a cheap afternoon. I didn't think it was expensive as all we done was play games. I think the next time I go back I will try the restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place to anybody who is visiting on a rainy day. Cheers.
Brought my Grandchildren --- they loved it
Restaurant: Excellent food. Although more variety would be better Entertainment: bottom floor closed due to private gathering (but then it was Monday night and to be fair to RR, its revenue). But there could be some for upstairs. Axe throwing and pool was open.
Very poor customer service not coming again at this location
The staff is so rude. We were playing bowling and the Asian guy started shouting at us without any warning to put on mask and ask us to leave. And then he started fighting with us when we ask us why he is being rude
popeyes chicken sandwich
Pretty epic place. My first time here and I'm blown away at the amount of activities available: - Bowling - Arcade Games - Billiards ???? - Axe Throwing - Virtual Reality - Karoake And also I had the Salmon and it was great! Actually I came by to check the place out as I'm looking for a place for a work meet up and I think I just found the place =)
Amazing staff, friendly and funny! Didn't test the food but I went axe throwing and bowling! Very fun!
Needs more games. Tried to use my credits and tickets from my card from the Toronto location and they said they could not do it. Asked another employee and they did it but it was a bit of a hassle. Toronto location is way better and has more game options
Good service
Extremely poor quality of service from staff; inattentive to seated customers. Lack of customer service skills. Avoid drinking beers at this location as the beers are watered down and taste flat. On the contrary, food items are delicious and above expectations.
I can get pricey very quickly for the games, although they do have value packages. The food from the restaurant was terrible, will definitely not be going back there to eat.
Went for dinner at The Rec Room. Really good meal, service was excellent (Angelina got the orders right, food was delivered quickly and was delicious!) Mixed crowd, but mostly young. Lots of arcade games and a live band playing. Very vibrant and lively place.
Kinda slow service even though not busy. Very few options for low carb/gluten free. No flexibility with menu even if you pay extra. I.e. vegetables for dipping instead of pita or tortilla chip.
Awesome! If you like arcades it's so worth it
Horrible service and food. We had reserved a table as had a big party and from the get home wasn’t enough staff so only one person looking after all dining area. We waited 30 mins to take our order and drinks and then got drinks after about their 20 mins. After 1.5 hours our food came out and 9 out of 12 persons food was cold or wrong and had to be sent back. They don’t care to serve you as they add on automatic gratuity and manager wasn’t very helpful just said they are short staffed. Unfortunately not me and my parties fault, when the remade food came was not very appetizing as budgeted we’re pretty cooked and heated up and pizza was covered in oil. The manager couldn’t care less about helping and no one tried to even help us until we left. Wouldn’t recommend eating here as there is 100 Better places in the mall.
It had a lower amount of arcade games than I expected. It is cool that they have a variety of things to do all in one place but the price is pretty steep. Redemption games aren't really my thing but if you want that mix of entertainment then this is the spot. The staff is really nice, specifically the people that work in the axe throwing area. They are good instructors.
Went this past Saturday evening. Almost every single issue I have with RR is staff-based; they only had 1 cashier for purchasing credits, 1 person checking ID, one bartender, etc., per station on the busiest day of their week. This meant getting a beer was a 15-minute affair and it took us about a half hour just to get credits and drop off our coats. At least coat check is free! They seriously need to have more staff in the place working on Saturday. Aside from that it was great, lots of fun games and a really solid beer selection. Would recommend, just maybe not on a Saturday night.
Dinner
Had a great first time experience with my wife. Food was excellent and there are various games and activities to get into.
Very very very noisy. Prices are a bit steep. Staff are fabulous.
The upstairs area was a nice environment, lots of TV'S available to watch the games going on. The downstairs recreational room got rather hot and crowded during peak hours. Overall a fun place to visit.
It's spacious and fun! But wish there was more arcade games to play.
