Poor excuse for costumer service and bowling alley. I recommend nobody go here unless you feel like wasting money. If I could rate it less than 1 star... I would. I Read other ratings of 1 star and they were along the same line as my complaint. POOR SERVICE. I bet the owner won’t even read the ratings.

Glitchy bowling system are lain had to be reset 3 times and two friends that only got one shot before the system shut down saying they went over 3 times... Also music was extreamly loud could barly hear the person next to you talking to ya.

Plenty of lanes available when I went, with funky blacklights on the lower level. Loud, but that's bowling for you. The pin setting machines made some mistakes, but nothing the reset button can't handle. The poutine is nothing spectacular and I would recommend you try the burger instead.

We had a great time here on Saturday night with some friends. The staff is friendly. The only issue for us was that the music was so loud it hurt our ears and we couldn't hear each other talk. The speakers sounded like they were going to explode.

Great night out with the family. Check out glow in the dark bowling if you have a chance. If you plan on eating, order before you start. Snackbar is a bit of a wait. Not a problem if you're just ordering popcorn and drinks though. Cost is reasonable and a lot more fun than movie night! Quality fun.

They will shut u down before midnight even if you have not finished your game. ..as early as 11:45pm so i guess the opening hours should say until 11:30pm because they kept closing our lanes to signal us to leave then eventually shut it off without any refund or a fair explanation. ... the guy at the front desk on May 13, 2017 @ 11:45 was very unkind to us as a customer. .. my group members and i will just try another bowling ring... chow!!!

This is my preferred bowling center of choice. They staff are friendly and some of them have been there for years which is nice. It's a great place for a date, and you can have some drinks and food as well. I find the the drinks prices are ????. Also a fun place for birthday parties of all ages.

*lots* of lanes. I consider the bunch of arcade machines at the entrance to be a negative as they're noisy, but you won't notice them except when you're waiting before or after bowling. For the winter, they need to make a double set of doors as the wind comes right through the arcade/waiting area whenever someone comes in.

5 pin bowling alley with a bunch of extra stuff such as a pretty decent arcade, restaurant and snack bar. Also contains glow in the dark bowling which is always fun. Plenty of free parking available, and decent service. Website contains a nice calculator so you can figure out how much a game will cost depending on the number of players and games to be played. Also features a rail system for kids that prevents the ball from entering the gutter so make it more enjoyable.

Did our 8 years old birthday party here. Hostess greeted us and made sure all the kids knew the routine. Bowled for an hour and returned to our table to waiting food (went with the chicken fingers and fries) that was well received by the kids. Staff brought out the cake, sang happy birthday and dished out the cake. All plates, forks, napkins, cups and water were all supplied. They caterer to any size of party and the staff were extremely helpful.

This place is GARBAGE. Will not be returning EVER. The staff were extremely unprofessional throughout the entire process from the front cash to the bar tender completely ignoring my friends and I when we tried to order drinks. This was all capped off with the manager attempting to kick us out at 10:20 when it says they are open until 11. The manager stated " this is a private business and I can close whenever I want", meanwhile we still had a full pitcher of beer that we had already paid for on our table. He was extremely rude to us when we asked if we could just stay until we finished our drinks and insisted we left. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.

5 pin bowling is a success with kids. The fries portion is quite large and at a reasonable price. Can get quite busy on weekends but it has several lanes so it should be fairly easy to get one right away. But then again it can get quite noisy in there.

SHAME on Merivale Bowling Centre. Heard from the grapevine, few kids got racially profiled for allegedly smelling like weed, and were denied service. I work nearby and I see people smoking around this establishment all the time. Extremely disturbed to hear about the racist encounters here.. do all customers get sniffed with the owner's mask down in a pandemic? The kids who shamed were nurses trying to enjoy a safe birthday. Extremely disappointed by this, will not be returning here again. Sad that we live in a "progressive" society like Ottawa and yet some kids have to deal with experiences like.

If I could give zero stars I would. The owner here is a complete bigot. He dared to make a comment regarding my friends being to “left leaning” in a place like this. I identify as a black Canadian and refuse to be spoken to or treated like a second class citizen in a low end establishment like this. He went as far to remove his mask during a PANDEMIC, to prove a point. This guy ‘Andre’ is a complete coward, as he did not speak to me in the same tone as he did to my girlfriend and her sister. I believe someone needs to answer for this, as my friends and I deserved better than to be profiled, and questioned about how we smell. I personally tried to diffuse this situation, but then after realizing how upset our party was, we left. If you lack the ability to provide customer service, don’t work the front counter. I hope people realize how toxic the owner can be to people, and realize you are complying with a racist environment if you don’t speak freely when these things happen.

Great family friendly atmosphere, definitely would recommend for a fun and cheap outing with friends or family. The glow in the dark area is always fun no matter how old you are. However, I would not recommend the snack bar. Food was fine (we got the popcorn chicken) but we waited 40 minutes for it and by the time we got it we were halfway through our last game. I would recommend going but if you're only doing a game or two it's not worth getting the food.

Looks like a well run establishment. 2 floors of bowling. But weirdly only 5 pin, although it has the awesome classic graphics for spare, split, turkey etc. Can't speak to all food but nachos were gross. Chips not made in house ( as to be expected) but their salsa is and as it appears be crushed tomatoes with maybe some dried spices I believe them. Then it was just mozzerella on top, no cheddar which is really weird. Then sour cream on the side. No bell peppers, olives, jalapeños some of which were listed on the menu. I feel like if they hired a sous chef with a bit of drive this place could actually be interesting food wise but was a loser otherwise. Staff was courteous. But not the best bowling experience of my life and no half sizes for shoes. HUGE dining space, all plastic featherweight tables. Cheapish drinks, don't expect genius bartending.

Wife and I lost our tickets after accumulating well over 3000 playing arcade games. Spoke to management, they said they could not do anything. I had initially given them 5 stars during a previous trip. However, we will not be returning. Save your money and go elsewhere.

I mean it's a bowling alley, what can you say. It kind of mixes being family friendly with adult themed entertainment. The bar is nice but it's in a bingo hall type room. The video games are probably geared towards an older crowd which don't really take advantage of it and the kids end up playing old pinball games.

I was given a pair that were not the same. My friend was given one without any laces, the machine to enter your names didn’t work. Did I have fun? I definitely did! They even have rails that come up for kids so no gutter balls. Everyone wins ! Big Arcade Games for others that don't Bowl. Everything automated, fill out your names and get bowling. What a Blast!!

Fun but hard to see in the glow in the dark lanes. When I went the normal lanes were closed and we had to play 5 pin. Still very fun but not as satisfying as 10 pin. Arcades take a swipe card that has to be payed for preemptively. They ran out of beer also after we bought 10 beers. (Group of 7)

Not a good place to go for the party. No place to put clothes. If this is winter, you are sitting with clothes all around you. Very noisy, definatly not a place for kids with mental disabilities. If you lost something, nobody will help you and nobody will be responsible. Girls are friendly, but they are wearing very explicit clothes for serving kids party. Lost snow pants for my child, come back in 15 minutes, was told that somebody took your pants, sorry, we can not do very much... very upset with people, organization of this place, better to go to other places and have a fun, where you can relax and not thinking about your clothes????

It was cool. But I then hated the experience when I went to the front desk to order a new game session, I had to go back at the end of a super long lineup for new clients coming from outside. Why not have another POS for people who enjoyed they experience and want to relive it again? The rest of the family was sitting down at the bowling lane wondering why it was taking so long.

The food was good but they should definitely work on service, especially when dealing with groups of people. I am sympathetic to the waitress that dealt with our table of 13 but one should not have to ask for water multiple times and still not receive it by the end of their meal. Perhaps they should have added another server.

Very nice place with a family feel. Not brand spanking new or feeling like the most cutting edge of places but still very clean and well run. Be advised: this is only 5-pin bowling. Costs - at the time of writing - $6 per game per person and $3 shoe rental per person. Music was cheesily great and refreshments reasonably priced.

After being invited for an event like this I would certainly consider having my kids birthday here as well. I believe the price is good and takes a lot of the parents work out of hosting. Lots of fun for the whole family. We paid $38 for two adults and two children 6 and under to play one game. Seemed like a lot, but I haven't been to enough bowling alleys to know what the standard rate is. Very kid friendly. They have the bumpers setup in some lanes to keep the bowling ball on course for the pins. Big help for the kids (and adults). Snacks, such as popcorn, are available. Facilities were clean and clearly well-maintained.

Cool place to play 5 pin bowling with the whole family. They have a nice set of arcades , as well. Be aware that there is NO more 10 pins (big ball) anymore. I organized my kid party birthday there. For a first visit, it was way beyond my expectations. The place is very well set up with the arcade in the entrance and blue light in the bowling alley. They got a specific waitress for us and some other table. Ciara was a good staff who cared about the kids and made sure everything is prepared for the birthday. The price is acceptable. Food was good too! On 8 kids no one complained ????. I'd highly recommend this place

What a great place for a group of people to go. If you want a staff outing or gathering come here. Staff are very personable and the place even offers restaurant style food and drinks. It's an okay bowling alley, pretty average. I was really surprised at how busy it was. Bowling alleys are fewer and farther between than the once of, so it's nice to have one nearby. They did not provide cake for the package that we had purchased even though it was clearly included on their website. As well, they automatically charged $100 in tips during our time in the restaurant (which was included in the package) with no prior warning that this would happen(pitchers of soda and 5 or 6 pizzas were brought out which was the extent of the service). The food in the restaurant is about as good as you'd expect from a bowling alley with the pizza being greasy and the soda watery and bland. This is certainly not a place I would return to nor recommend to anybody to try.

I bowl in a league at Merivale, and while I have an excellent time and lots of fun with my league, the lanes downstairs are quite dirty. The chairs have dried coffee on them, there are things dried on the floor that are no longer identifiable. One lane has dried ketchup on the floor. It really needs a thorough cleaning. The ball return is quite slow and personal balls seem to get chipped quite easily. The restaurant is great, and food is excellently priced. I will up my rating after I see a good cleaning done.

Went there Saturday night to celebrate a friend’s birthday and they refused to serve our party of 10 (all of us visible minorities) because they claimed we “smelled like marijuana” - the man at the front desk, the owner Andre, then pulled down his mask and sniffed us. He continued to harass me (with his mask down - even after my friend asked him to put his mask back on) until my boyfriend came over to talk to him. He eventually sold the tickets to my boyfriend but I could not stay after that, and had him return them. I am shocked over this completely degrading and racist encounter with the owner that honestly made me feel unsafe. I’m so disappointed with Merivale bowling and me and my friends will not be returning.

It was busy, service was not great. The game misread the score. They shut down the lanes by accident we had to ask them to turn it back on. We got food after, iit took an hour after we ordered. And the food was sandwiches and pizza. About 25% of the orders came out wrong, and they doubled other orders. They acted like we were lying when we said we didnt order a few things. The natchos charged 3$ extra for beef. I'm not joking when I say there was probably 1 tbsp of ground beef on there. More of a seasoning than a topping.

Arrived as a group of ten. Aged 20-26 diverse friend group. First time to approach counter was denied service, as we were awaiting on two friends to join the table. Was told there was no point and to wait. Second time we approached counter he said “ can you put some perfume on or something “ then proceeded to PULL off his mask mid conversation to “ smell us better” continued to argue never stating what his end point of the conversation was. Ended up with ten people leaving the bowling alley from harassment. Profiled for smoking weed in a busy entrance. Never going back.

I came bowling ???? , with my family relief worker. That venue is quite cool, glowing in the dark, and scorekeeping computer is handy ????, so you don’t need to , calculate and write ✏️the score sheet. The food concession is affordable too!

We celebrated our son's birthday here and everyone had a wonderful time. It is fun because they have black lighting, so wear white when you come. This is one of my son's favourite spots to spend time with his girlfriend. They have food that will be brought to your lane and both the pizza and nachos are excellent. We really have not had an issue with the staff because the only time that we have contact with them (after we pay for our games) would be if there is an issue with the lane or to order food. We found the staff to be kind and helpful. The washrooms are very clean and it is a nice way to spend a couple of hours socializing.

Great place for a fun night. Two floors of bowling lanes very busy place. Has laser lights, music food and drink. Even a bar for alcoholic beverages. Great for kids or birthday parties. Also has an arcade to play games while you wait for a lane. Very clean and staff were great :)

Merivale bowling is a great place for any occasion. The prices could be a touch lower but its still cheaper then most places for the amount of time you can spend there lol. Love the atmospere and they play some good music. Pretty forgiving staff otherwise me and my friends should have been kicked out many times. Having a bar is one of the best perks of this place, quart of beer is only 9 bucks and you can bring it back to your lane or even get it brought to you aswell as food. Will continue to come here for a long time, highly recommend to anyone.

I love bowling here but seeing first hand how he treats his staff makes me not want to return. Disappointing to see from a local business an owner taking advantage of his staff.

Went there for a Christmas party and it was terrible! The manager of the centre was very rude and started yelling. We were not given the room we were promised. We also ordered the turkey buffet but were given pork! Then when they apologized and offered a discount, they charged us the full amount without authorization right when we were done bowling. Never going back there for an event again, let alone bowling.

This was one of the most disorganized businesses I have ever been in! The staff could not even agree on how I was supposed to pay. Someone made a mistake, and instead of nicely explaining this , we got chased down by an employee and treated like we had stolen something. When we told them we would not bowl and asked for our money back the manager could not be bothered to speak to us. As an FYI to the employees: you do not need to yell into a PA system.

I'm not sure what type of service the other reviewers were looking for, it's a bowling alley. Overall a great time only complaint would be it gets a tad warm after a few heated games. Will visit again, 4/5

wow, what a cool bowling alley and arcade. Except for the bartender...never felt so disrespected in my entire life. She asked for mine and my fiance's ID which was totally fine, but then questioned me and asked me what his name was? and ALSO told me not to give HER attitude. I'm 26 and have NEVER been treated like that the entire time i've been legal to drink. Instead of buying any booze, we just walked away. I'm a server too, sister and i would never treat anyone the way you did us tonight. take your service elsewhere.
