The arena dressing rooms are small and tight. The showers can only fit 2 people at a time despite having 4 shower heads. Ice is hit or miss in quality. Parking lot is big though and easy access spectator seating.

This place is a secret, so keep this under your hat. The 56 Restaurant and Lounge, located in the THCA, is hands down the best bar experience in calgary. You want community atmosphere? They got it? You want great service, food, prices and fun? This is the place. They have pool, darts and while they only have four bowling lanes, it is hands down the best experience I've ever had bowling. I dont even like to drink. That's how much I enjoy this place.

Just ok. Basic pub fried food. Nachos way over done and all ingredients piled in the center in a mound. They ran out of the only cider on their menu. Service was a C grade. We did like the options of pool (one table broken), and darts was good. Too bad the shuffleboard is gone now. Not sure I'd go back.

Hosted our child's birthday party in the bowling alley here. All 16 kids had a great time, and the venue host was friendly and helpful with every question and request we had. Food provided was tasty and hot. While the lanes aren't new by any means, the price to rent all four lanes for two hours was very reasonable. Would come back in future for sure.

As someone who has been going to the 56 for the past 3 years I am shocked and dissapointed in the lack of accountability and management regarding the children’s raging havoc within the pub. The kids are destroying the pool tables and dart boards due to no management. Could not be more dissapointed to see what my favourite pub has turned into after years of amazing memories. So dissapointed.

Racquetball is very fun, I have no idea how much it costs because I didn't pay, but it's great. You just smack a ball really hard for 20 minutes and you can't break anything or lose the ball and it's just some nice brainless fun.

Ordered the beef dip and Caesar salad without croutons. Salad was loaded with croutons, beef dip was extremely dry and the "au jus" is simply over salted beef stock. Likely wont be back for a meal, even though it is in our community.

This review is for the Arena. Dressing rooms are big enough to fit 15 men. Showers are hot. Rink staff are great! The ice is kept up pretty well. They have a guy who sharpens skates but I couldn't tell you how often he is there. Lots of parking is available as long as there aren't any events at the community center.

Food is super affordable but quality takes a hit as a result. Service was really good and if you play darts or shoot pool you may have to wrestle some seniors for a spot. Weird entry into the restaurant as well, you have to enter from the side down a dark staircase. I’d probably go back if I was in the area.

Great community center. From Hockey, disc golf and bingo to dances and bowling; this center has it. Major bus routes run by it so it's easy to commute to. Fun place to go to. Still need to check out the bar there but it seems pretty chill.

We come for the bowling in the basement. Not many people know about this 4-lane area next to the bar. Good prices! It's pretty much self-serve and you pay at the bar when done. It's quiet because it's a self-contained area, with a boom box if you want to put on some music.

We attended a Los Lobos concert at the Thorncliffe Community Association and had a great time. There was an Ethiopian wedding going on in another part of the building and it was great to see Calgary's community in action. The concert venue was large enough to truly be a "dance" event and way more fun than sitting in those plush seats at the Jack Singer or SAIT Jubilee

I've been here to watch my friend play hockey, nothing incredible but the facility is nice, easy to find and has tons of parking. During winter it is also a City of Calgary Maintained Tobogganing Hill. We actually went today (April 28 2019) to make the best of a snowy situation. Kids and I had a blast. The snow hill area doubles as a massive green space in the summer, perfect for frisbee, football and the like. I even went here as a kid for soccer! All in all a great community centre with huge green space for outdoor activities.

A local community center in North Calgary. They have a gym, squash, volleyball and many other activities. After your workout, head downstairs to the pub. They have a small but good menu and daily specials. Staff is friendly and service is great.

Absolutely love this playground! The kids and adults all had fun. I really like they have a baby zipline which is super safe for younger kids. This place has a lot to offer: multiple slides, swings, ziplines, musical elements picnic tables, etc...just watch your step on because the bumpy Caterpillar on the floor may trip you over next to the triple slides. Have fun!

We've had some pretty amazing experiences here. From the Wednesday kids gym night (and corresponding parent beer and darts night) to the the various family oriented community events, we always enjoy ourselves here. Dave at the 56 lounge always knows what we need and I swear I've never seen anything other than a smile on his face. Say hi, strike up a conversation and grab a pint. There's always a friendly group of random people from the surrounding area to chat with.

The Arena is good, but they really need to work on parking. People park in the arena area where the Hockey Players play & sometimes, especially summer, there have been people parking for events held at their halls and/or from soccer and/or baseball games held across the street. My Hockey Players have to park on the street, some even 1 or 2 blocks away and home all their gear..... Not a happy camper..

I went to 56 Restaurant and Lounge last Sat, Dec 11/21, to meet up with a large grp of other Singles. When I went 2 $ Pay $ my Bill, the waitress, Shannon, tried 2 make me Pay $ almost $5. for an Alcoholic Drink, that I Never ordered, nor rec'd. ! She got quite angry and argumentive with me, insisting that she Did serve me that Drink ! A couple days later, I complained to the grp, and 1 woman, who was sitting next 2 me, said it was Her Drink, and she Paid $ for it. I called and spoke to the Mgr at 56, and there was No apology, and No Offer of Compensation .

Only costs $4.00 for admission. Lots of parking but it's so busy parking lot is usually full so parking along the side streets is always necessary if you arrive later in the day.

The Thorncliffe Greenview Community Centre has a excellent lounge downstairs, which I have gone to several times with large groups. Drinks are relatively inexpensive, and there are several activities that can be found, including darts, pool, and bowling. This community centre is one of the hidden gems of the city, in my opinion.

I have never felt compelled to write a negative review online until now. I think that people need to hear about our experience and how it was handled before they make a choice to bring their business here. On January 3rd we booked my son’s birthday party for February 25 at the bowling lanes. We then called on February 9th to confirm the party and we were assured that everything was a go. We arrived on Sunday with all of our guests to be told that there was a computer crash and that they lost our reservation so they had booked other people into our time slot. We were completely flabbergasted. The woman who delivered this news seemed completely unapologetic and only finally apologized after I asked her if she was going to be the one to tell my 5 yr old that his birthday was ruined. Her immediate response to this was “No, but my general manager can”, she did apologize to my husband after I walked away because I was so angry at her response. The “solution” they offered us was to hold our son’s birthday party in the lounge full of people drinking, with dart boards and pool tables. A completely inappropriate venue for a party with 12 young children. We were left with a sobbing 5 year old and no choice but to leave and have people come to our house with zero planning. If there was a computer crash and all reservations were lost, a responsible business would have STOPPED taking new reservations or at the very least had some sort of plan in place to offer to people if something like this happened. A plan, other than - have your party in our lounge with no access to bowling. The way this was handled before we even arrived is completely unacceptable. I am still in disbelief about how we were treated that day. The staff that spoke with us showed absolutely zero compassion for the situation that they put us in. She kept saying that it wasn’t her fault. While I agree that it wasn’t personally her fault, it was the fault of the organization and there was ZERO responsibility taken that day or after. They may not have been able to prevent the computer crash but they sure could have managed the whole thing in many different ways afterwards. We were told that a general manager was going to call us to talk about the situation and here it is, Tuesday morning and we have yet to receive a call. At this point, I don’t even want to speak to the general manager because there is absolutely nothing they can say to improve on this situation. Nothing. If this is the way they handle their business then it would be my recommendation that you put your family’s plans in the trust of another venue. I have never received such poor customer service in my entire life. FOLLOW UP - I just spoke with Kevin the general manager who is extremely upset about the situation. He was empathetic and genuinely sorry, he also offered to try to make it up to us in whatever way he could, but we both agreed that there's not really anything that could at this point. I do appreciate that he took full responsibility and will be following up on his side. It unfortunately doesn't change how things played out.

Hi Well I absolutely love this place Food is fantastic Great atmosphere I’ve been coming here all summer Always had the absolutely best service and food ever So today I planned to bring 6 friends to show off this place I always raved about the food ..price and of course service I was so upset today The service was horrible 4 out of 6 orders was wrong Waitress was not apologetic at all …more annoyed with us Most of the orders were…well that’s ok One order..burger and onion rings….came with burger and fries One order with club and fries with gravy…no gravy One order steak extremely well done with mashed potatoes…came rare with onion rings One order never came at all…forgotten… Asked and finally came after every one was finished….well done and asked for medium rare She blamed everything on the cook We all new that was not the case I usually do not comment But this little girl was never once apologetic Actually annoyed with us When it was time to pay… 2 of us paid…then she left for over a half hour We waved and asked to pay…she finally came…my bill included gravy Well I had a pizza….no gravy needed She seemed annoyed and took my bill came back and said Is this ok now I love this place and have only had the best food and the absolute best service I’m not a picky rude patron I appreciate servers Always tip very good Today not only was I embarrassed to bring my friends and almost every order wrong but the attitude of this server was the most unbelievable If mistakes are made own up apologize and usually all is ok But she did not make any attempt to apologize She blamed the cook It doesn’t matter who is to blame Just be apologetic for the many mistakes I love this place but……I will phone to see who the waitress is before I go
