Quite the disappointment, I come to this establishment on a regular basis. Any other night I would give this place a 5 star review, great management and the new staff are amazing. Tonight, we had a friends bowling tournament and we’re hassled by one of the staff there. Framed for drinking an “outside beer” at our table, though we had been purchasing beers from the bar and buying games all evening. Yes, we were busted for drinking outside which we admitted was wrong, but the bartender wrongfully kept our can and sat it on our table while we were our smoking a cigarette. One staff mentioned to check the security tape but the man with a beard was quite set on not checking the cameras without a “security reason” and promptly kicking us out. Unfortunately, this is the only 10 pin within an hour radius, so we will be back. But I am quite disappointed with our service this weekend.

$28.17 for two adults and one child for one game. It was goodish. Understaffed. 10 pin is so different. $5.25 for about 3 games in the arcade. M'eh. But they do have beer. Mmmm beer.

The game also features Online Play. I make frequent trips to Vancouver, BC just to play this game. please do not curse this place with a cabinet of Fast and the Furious or Need for Speed. They are not modernized and are ugly to look at.

Terrible. Service was good but the way lane 13&14 were acting by getting stuck and the lane saying we missed the pins and resetting full stack when the term before only had 2 left, was upsetting. Was not pleased with the managers attitude when this happened every 5 minutes and then proceeds to complain that the bowling balls were getting "thrown" to hard, was absolute crap. You sir, have lost a costumer who had been wanting to go there for quite some time. Will not be coming back.

Came here for my fiancés birthday with some friends and had brought a bottle of water in my purse. Being 4 months pregnant, I always carry water on me. Employee walked over and said she had to take my water away because they can't have any outside drink or food. I asked if I could drink the WATER before she took it and was told, no. Getting annoyed I asked if they sell bottled water as I don't want to drink tap...sorry...I watch what I'm giving my baby?!? And was told no they don't sell regular water. I understand if I brought in a bottle of pop, vitamin water, gatorade or McDonald's for f*** sakes but WATER??? Employee told us that they could get in trouble if the AGLC inspector came and saw that. I said "saw what???? A water bottle that a pregnant woman is drinking? Would he be more comfortable if I drank a vodka because you guys sell that?"....long story short they rubbed me the wrong way for a fricken water bottle. Not all but specifically 2 employees there need to change their attitudes and learn how to use common sense depending on certain circumstances versus being all high and mighty & driving customers away. This isn't the first incident with certain employees there but definitely the cherry on top.

Just an average 10 pin bowling alley that also serves pub style food and has a large selection of drinks to help you get your game on. Service can be spotty depending on who happens to be working that night, but overall it's still a great way to spend a couple hours with friends.

We went on a Tuesday night. Unlimited bowling after 8PM for 8.99 dollar per person. 10 pin bowling. They have a small bar with some food. There is also an arcade hall. We had a lot of fun!

October 2021: Update, they didn't have pizza dough so got poutine. The gravy was so salty it was basically inedible but I was low blood sugar hungry and felt sick so I ate it anyways. Covered it in pepper to try to help. Was actually the most disgusting disappointing poutine. Also note that its just fries with shredded cheese and that gross gravy. All the balls were cracked and the shoes were ripped. Our lane was a bit finicky. Seems pretty status quo in it bowling world though. Pretty average for the bowling. Nice that it has an arcade. Nice that it has food although the only thing i has was gross. They are serving alcohol again. They were really understaffed but it was Thanksgiving. Weird note: the cook had his mask on but his nose was out the whole time. Also saw that while in the kitchen the kitchen staff weren't wearing masks and they store bowling balls in the kitchen. Def won't order food again. The girl who was working the lanes and arcade was really nice. Previous February 2021 review: Sad that they can't serve food or even a cup of water right now.

Good service. If you ask, that can change it to glow and the dark for you. The prizes at the prize area cost quite a lot of tickets and the games cost a lot of credits usually. Each credit is 25 cents and most games cost 4-8 credits. Beside that I like the arcade and bowling. Food is expensive but if you go on a Monday or have a free game pass then it'll cost less.

Made a 70 dollar reservation online only to find out place was completely empty and it was 2.99 a game drop in. Our mistake for sure but manager was completely unwilling to do us any favors. Even some credit or anything. We came semi often, but no more.

Most lanes work alright, but avoid the last two on the right. The system in the back that handles the pins was all messed up and broke the machines running those lanes. It also ate one of the bowling balls and nobody knew where it went

The bowling was fun and the screens playing short videos like ones you would see from a 1998 home video. One of my complaints is that when ever you get a strike the pins wouldn't go down so you would need to get a worker to fix it, tho I think it was just my ally. The arcade was pretty cool but really hot, due to all the heat coming from the games. The food has very good prices (3$ for a pop, 10$ for pizza etc.)

A very fun & unique atmosphere for the Nanaimo region. Splitsville is my favorite place to go on a cold or rainy day to enjoy some bowling, arcade games, and food! The staff are always friendly, and it's a guaranteed good time! The arcade games are so much fun, the best ones on the Island!!! They have a wide variety of bowling balls & shoes to suite any age group. There is a full range menu from fish & chips, cauliflower bites, nachos, mini sliders, pizza's, and a kids menu! The walk in rates are affordable, and they have deals on different days & times of the week. Definitely worth heading over to check it out.

Not a bad facility but careful in the arcade. Games have been adjusted to reflect the skill of 1 local that was taking advantage Im told by staff. Jackpots have been adjusted, ball drop went from capping at 750 tickets down to 250. Power Tower? (Game with the arm that seeeps across a rotating play field), all good pieces removed from machine (500-1000 tickets) with a msc prize of 250. Prices also went up. Splitsville needs to limit the high roller prizes to limit the individual versus having the rest of you pay for all the PS4's Im told they take home weekly.

My daughter celebrated her 11th birthday here. She had so much with her friends. The foods were fine. Kids are more excited playing and competing with their friends in bowling. They had so much fun too with the arcade. They are thrilled with the games. Just a tip have them play to the arcade after the bowling hour. We spent a big amount through the arcade hahaha. You are also allowed to bring cakes and cupcakes for the birthday party. Other than that, foods and beverages are not allowed. My son wants to spend his birthday party here too. My kids and their friends had a fantastic experience. I am raving about Jayden of Splitsville. We were there Sunday, November, around 12:30 pm onwards. He is the only person manning the counter and the arcade, checking vaccine passports, serving food, accommodating each person for the shoe rental. He did an amazing job! He did the three-person job all by himself. He did his job smoothly, without whining. He remained calm, even though it was too hectic at that time. I almost wanted to complain because of the long wait but his calm composure reciprocated with me. Instead, I felt bad for him and at the same time amazed! You are a great employee, Jayden! You are the best!

Dawn was awesome, and kept checking up on us to make sure everything was going well - she even brought a "wacky bowling" card for us to have fun and get some laughs. Our business employees all came out for the evening for some bowling food and drinks. $9.00 for a beer was a Rip Off .... $2.00 at the Liquor Store ??? Bowling was ok, but our Lane kept breaking down all night intermitantly !!! Then they would not let us finish out our last game as time ran out !!! Rip Off again !! The lighting was poor as it was too bright thus the Black lights were uneffective ! Most of the special effects lighting was missing and or not working !! Run Down ... Poor Maintenance ... Not as special as it once was ...... We will look at other venues in the future !!!

Went there for my daughters birthday party. The staff were friendly but did not seem to understand what they were doing at all. Many times when we would ask them something they were clueless. We rented two lanes for the birthday party originally however they made everyone bowling on the second lane pay to bowl. I would highly recommend that you do not book a child’s birthday party here

One of the better establishments in Nanaimo. The service is fantastic, everyone there makes you feel very welcome. I went bowling recently with some friends and had a great time drinking, bowling and in the arcade. Fantastic food too!

I'm disgusted with the service, would give less stars if I could. Went here for my girlfriends birthday. Our game was riddled with technical difficulties. A misunderstanding had our lane shut down midgame, and when the staff was confronted, she rudely laughed in our faces and basically told us oh well. We paid for 2 hours of unlimited games, actually played 35 mins. Finally got a refund along with a bunch of snide comments from the till lady. I doubt I'll return anytime soon.

This place has huge potential, but it is brutally understaffed on the busy weekend nights. I still go quite often as it is a fun hangout, although every time I bowl, without fail, the lane screws up. Also has a great arcade.

Absolutely love it here. Been making the trip for 3 years now just for the arcade. The people are all super nice and approachable. The games and prizes have been updated. Currently have enough points for the nintendo switch! Just waiting for it to come in stock. Definitely recommend to everyone I know.

Had an horrific experience last night, in all honesty would rate less stars if I had the option. I walked over to the counter because my group game had stopped, next thing I know I had the manager yelling at us and accusing that one of us did not pay when in fact we did. She continued to print off receipts, slam them on the counter in our faces quoting " the computer never lies." AND WOULD NOT LET US FINISH OUR GAME!!! All in All we ended up being right in the end and the receipt was put under a different lane. We never received apologies or anything no refund, had this lady pretty much spitting in our faces. Splitsville will never see us again, a great way to ruin our night.

I wouldn't even give this place a 1 star but that was the only option. Waited 20min or more to have our lane fixed. Thought would have been simple however the manager decided to serve the bar before helping fix our lane so we could continue playing. We got to play one round then we decided to ask for a refund which the rude manager said she couldn't do and we'd have to wait for the higher up manager to arrive which when you're from out of province on vacation the last thing you want to do is wait even longer than you already had for someone to come. She offered a free round of bowling but again, we don't live in nanaimo. So basically, we got charged for nothing and this place made money for doing nothing at all but be a frustration. Would never go back and told people In parking lot to spend their $ elsewhere.

Went for the arcade. Half the machines didn't work :( Bathrooms were a little dodgy. My toilet didn't flush... friendly staff though and bowling lanes looked clean and well equipped. Fun atmosphere.

Recently visited Splitsville Nanaimo and both visits our lane kept malfunctioning and staff kept having to come and fix it. The lineup to get food & drinks was long and they overall seemed very short staffed. We had a schedule hiccup and the young staff didn't seem trained on how to troubleshoot. Food was average. Bowling was fun when the lane worked.

Went here for a staff event-it was only the second time I have bowled 10 pins!It was clean and inviting and the food was good and the bowling was fun-I was getting better by the end of the second game!Only negative is the parking -the lines are so close together you cannot fit a normal car in one spot!So I felt bad going in with my car in one and a half spots,but there was no way to do otherwise!There was lots of parking available just the spots were painted too small.It was a fun evening.

Monday nite 28th. Oct . It was fun for the 3 of us ! The lane wasnt workin ( miscounting )properly. The staff was useless they werent interrested to help. Specially the Boys were bored and talking , sitting around. Yawning !Unbelievable !! They. should not get paid for just being there ,waiting for shift to end !!

Probably wont go back. Slow customer service. Paid over 60.00 for 6 of us to bowl one game. Our lane and others were not working half the game. The gate kept coming down. We were told they dont know how to fix, they would move us to another lane, not sure it wont happen there or deal with it. Poor customer service. It wont let me post with no stars Update. Tony read my review and offered us another night on him, he wanted to make us happy. We went tonight and had a great family night. Thank you Tony so very kind. We will definitely be back. Awesome thing to do

Great place to go have some fun. The food is good enough and we always have fun bowling and playing the games in the arcade. A lot of the times there are a few arcade games out of order otherwise I would have given a 5 star rating. Also a great place for kids’ birthday parties. My son really enjoyed his party here.

We played 5.5 games in 2 hours. The price was only about $12pp (adult on special) which included shoes. We ordered pizza and it was pretty good. I would give this place 5 stars, but the lane acted up quite a bit. We were constantly resetting it, but overall, very fun!

I bowl Thursday night starts at 6:45 pm. If you are looking for 3 hours of fun come join a team thier just starting and thiers room for 10+ bowlers. Its obly $18. For a great time out. You dont need too be a bowler to have fun. Check it out.

facilities are dated but nice. No outside food (like a coffee from Tim's for example) is allowed which was a minus for me personally. I find the prices to be quite high for what you get. It shouldn't cost $70 for a family to go bowling but maybe I'm crazy.

Previously reviewed this place with a 5 but we went out tonight with a group of friends and got framed by some high school girl working there claiming we had snuck a beer into the bowling alley, saying she found an empty beer can on our table followed by the "manager" shutting down our lane mid game, .. weirdest experience I've ever had. Came here for a friend's party and was really disappointed, not only was the service lacking but the attitude from the staff was completely out of line. The price was a flat rate since we had gone through an event planner which is fine, but if I'm going to be paying $21 to bowl for two hours? Would at least expect the lane to actually work for the whole two hours, spent at least 15 minutes throughout the night trying to get staff to come fix our lane. As well as pretty much every other lane was having the same issues. Will not be going back.

Our lane was not working properly , we were interrupted four times with them trying to reset it.... "it was an absolute sh** Show" To be fair I will give it three stars , because apparently there was something going on today that isn't normally the way things are run . Sorry guys

Gave these guys a chance today, though we are normally going to Brenchin's. Oh. My. Gosh. Dont know where to start. So-called customer service was horrible to say the least. We spent 15 minutes waiting at the front desk to pay, while an employer was rearranging some bottles in the bar nearby. When finally the kids got annoyed, I have tried to reach to this employee, and the answer was to give him a minute. He disappeared then. Okay. Another 10 minutes being wasted. The second employee showed up, spent some time staring around like no one was there and, thanks a lot, he did give a favour to us by taking our money. Like I said, we were visiting this place for the 1st time. We tried to figure out how to operate their lane touchscreen, then luckily got help from another (very helpful) customer. The two employees were observing the whole process, chatting between each other. Then my kids tried to play, but the borders were not lifted for us, and I had to spend another 10 minutes chasing down an employee asking to fix it. This location is a bit closer to where we live, and I was planning to switch from Brenchin's (perfect customer service ever, but longer to drive to) to these guys. Nope. Never again. You won't get a penny from our family anymore, and I will make sure all our friends and extended family members get aware of our experience with Splitsville Nanaimo.
